Speaker 1 (00:02):
All right, we continue on. Good morning, we're on early today.
Everybody's good morning, good morning, good morning. Yeah, parade day.
You'll hear it here on the radio station. The coverage.
David Vassa, Tim Kates will be all over it the parade.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Ill Clayton Kershall his shirt off? Thought, pardon, then Clayton
Kershall have his shirt off. I'd pray to god he does.
Let's go let it all hang out today. Let's see
it all.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Eleven am, forty five minute route Temple Grand, seventh Street,
fig ends up on fifth into the stadium, they go.
I should get there about twelve fifteen. Then all bets
are off, tickets available, if you'd like, get on down,
try to buy him.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's going to be a great day.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Last year that that event at the stadium, as you
pointed out earlier, Rodney almost sold out and it was fun.
I mean, you know, we'll we're glad the players survived.
These guys, don't happened what probably they got back like
last night?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Right? Yeah? Yeah, I think they stayed overnight Saturday night
and came back Sunday, and I'm sure I'm sure they
haven't slept. I thought it was kind of good a
lot of times, you know, teams will leave right after
the game if it's a night game or diggame, whatever
it is. But their families were there and just to
see first of all, see see Clayton Kershaw and his
(01:27):
kids run up to him afterwards, knowing that this was
the last time, and the hugs that he got, and
Ellen and how emotional she was and her sister. It
was it was pretty cool. And then Miggie's kids. They
showed a real good shot of Miggie Rojas and his wife,
and he mentioned his wife tell him telling him he
was going to hit a home run. But to see
his kids just squeezing him like that afterwards, man, that's
(01:52):
that was That was That was pretty special. And it
just brings it all home. Fred that that that sacrifices
that the families make for these guys, and and then
for it to come come full circle like that, and
for those guys and the families to be there, it's
it's incredible. And they get to all celebrate it today
with their with their families on the buses and at
(02:13):
the stadium.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
And I will assure you of this. After the celebration,
as quickly as possible, every single guy is getting the
hell out of town. They need time off, they need
to relax, they need a little rest. They are going
to celebrate, they'll probably go on vacation, the family's going,
and you got to recharge. Because as soon as this
(02:36):
is done today, I mean, we'll talk about it for weeks,
We'll talk about it for months. You understand, as soon
as this is done, they start getting ready for next year.
That's the business. That's this business. What have you done
for me lately? Yeah, think about it, right, I mean,
especially front off and Andrew Freeman does. He probably gets
a day off, and then it's all hot stove and
(02:56):
winter meetings and all things that are happening and getting
getting ready for all of that and start getting ready
for spring training. So there's not a whole lot of
time off.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
But yeah, in the season like this, the players gotta
go and get just get away from it and just
be away from it for a while and let it
all soak in. Don't do anything baseball wise, don't do
anything athletic wise. Just go do absolutely nothing. See, I've
always loved that way. I never try to do anything
athletic wise. First, I'm an on the Dodger celebration train.
(03:27):
You know, it's pretty cool. I can't tell Fred, I
can't tell. You know, over the years, you haven't teanged
one bit. Well, it's pretty cool. I gotta you know,
as most people know who listen to our show. I
know we're in the morning now, but my son has
been living in Japan for the last three years and
(03:47):
he's you know, obviously with Yamamoto here and Otani and Sasaki,
the whole country is our Dodger fans. And Fred, you
and I would over there in Tokyo and saw the
Dodgers open up the season over there against the Cubs,
and just the frenzy that they have for the Dodgers
is amazing. But he went and picked up a bunch
of newspapers yesterday after the Dodgers won, and it was, seriously,
(04:12):
it was like an anime photograph the way the pages
and the newspapers look. But he said that people are
still on cloud nine all over Japan right now, just
the fact that the Dodgers won, and on top of that,
Yamamoto was the MVP. Sure, yeah, do we even have
a second to talk about Yamamoto? Do we have a
(04:33):
second for that? Yes?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yes, do you realize how unbelievable that was his performance.
I mean throughout the entire playoffs. But do you really,
as a fan here, have any idea how special that
was for him to come in after he pitched. And
(04:58):
when you think about Game seven, he went three innings Rodney, right?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Am I wrong? He went three innings two and two thirds?
Didn't he? No? He did? Yeah, No, he might have.
Did I know, did he come in in the night, Yeah, Kevin, didn't.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
He he did?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yes? Thirds? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
But wait a minute, do we even realize that? You see,
because watching with the insanity and how it all played out,
I didn't realize he pitched that long as I was
sitting there watching it, you know, because you get caught
up in the moments. Yeah, Mike, the guy pitched the
night before, he came back out and almost pitched three innings.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah. And with the crazy part about that with two
was he he was also because they were talking about,
you know, the thing might happen, it's velocity maybe down,
or stuff may not may as good. And he came
out he was hitting ninety seven miles an hour on
the gun and his curve, all of his stuff was working,
was working for those three innings. And that's after throwing
(05:59):
one hundred and sixteen pitches the day before or whatever
he threw. He said that incredible.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
He said when he was in the bullpen warming up,
he said, first he said he was tired afterwards, I guess,
and then he said, you know, there was something off
when he was warming up, and he made some sort
of some minor adjustment in his delivery, and all of
a sudden he felt good enough to go. But he
said after the game there something was I started to
(06:28):
warm up and there was something it wasn't working. He
made an adjustment and it was ready to go. And
let's talk about Mickey Rojas for a second.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Let's go back.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
You know they shot him up before game seven. You
know that he was really in pain, and after game
six they weren't even sure if he could go. And
I think Dave Roberts texted him and said, can you
go tomorrow? And he goes, let me see how I
am at batting practice, let me see if I'm hitting
the ball. Well, I'll let you know. And I think
they shot him up because he was having pain. I
(06:59):
think that was right side right, yeah, from from the
day before.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, sure, okay, but you know, I think I don't
know how that conversation went with him and Dave Roberts,
but I assure you that it would have taken a
lot for Miggie not to go in that game. Oh
he would have done anything. Yeah, he would have done anything.
And for that to happen to that guy getting that
home run and the ninth inning, that's that's a lifetime.
(07:26):
He said it after game. I don't have to play
another game. I don't have to play another baseball game.
That was That was amazing. And again, man, I just
so many guys played a role so often that you
see it's just you know, two or three guys that
make a big difference in a in a in a
World series. I mean, you do you have the pitchers
(07:48):
and they got to pitch well, but it's usually three guys,
four guys tops. For the Dodgers, they had guys that
came out. I mean Roboleski, I mean, what he did,
we can't. I can't say it enough. I love that guy.
He got a dog get him. I love it. But
even the little piece that she and paid played, coming
(08:11):
in and doing his thing. Glass. Now everybody, you know
we're talking Yamamoto glass now o Tani Snell came in
and did his thing. We're talking, you know, guys that
are making over one hundred and something million dollars two
hundred some of them three hundred million dollars, willing to
(08:32):
put it all on the line. And for Yamamoto, you know, guy,
pictures like that, that's that's a danger to your career.
You're throwing back to back games like that. Who knows
what can happen in this day and age, knowing what
the arm issues are in Major League Baseball, especially pitchers.
So they all sacrificed for this win, which is incredible.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
All right, So again, we have to stay on time, Rodney.
It's hard for us to do that, but we have to.
Here's what we're gonna do, Kevin. You have that one
piece of sound ready, correct, we have that. Let's run
just the sound as a team's and when we come back,
we'll talk about it.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Listen to this and.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
It's gonna sound like sour grapes.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
I think the better team did not win this series.
I think the Blue Jays are the better team, and
I feel like they played baseball a certain way that
was infectious, that grabbed the attention of the fans, and
it's disheartening to see that the better team did not win.
And that's not to take anything away from the Dodgers,
but the Blue Jays. They did so many things correct,
(09:35):
they did so many things right, and Lady Luck just
did not fall on their watch. And this is a
crushing loss. I've spent eighteen years in the big leagues
and this is the most devastating loss that I've ever experienced.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
And I'm not even part of it.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
But the ups and downs that twists, the turns that
this team took us through the entire season makes this
so heartbreaking because, like I've said earlier, you just feel
like the baseball gods got it wrong this time, and
they normally don't.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
And I hate it for the guys.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
It's absolutely devastating and I guarantee those guys in there
are absolutely crushed.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
All Right, We will talk about that when we come back.
Fred Rogan and Rodney Pete on a five to seventy
LA Sports.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Oh yeah, we're back. It's Rogan and Rodney in the morning.
How does that sound fair? It's parade day, it's championship Day,
it's back to back day, whatever you want to call it.
It's Dodger Day and we're on all day long to
bring you right up to the parade end afterwards. All right,
I want to get to that sound.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
But I'm seeing Raoul from San Diego is on the
line line one. Let's take him quick. Raoul, you are
headed to the parade today, right, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
That's right. Today, I'm dishing school.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
I'm here with my dad.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
I'm super excited right now. So all right, you're ditching school,
Rodney and.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
Brogan, you guys are some ELI letterds.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
We're driving up.
Speaker 8 (10:58):
We're right here by heading up to Horace County and
check this out.
Speaker 9 (11:02):
I want to say, all of a sudden, we were
i'll pitch of viewing parties. A bunch of San Diegos
became Canadians over the weekend.
Speaker 8 (11:08):
All this Canadian pride in the air.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
And you know what, dude, we shut him up.
Speaker 8 (11:12):
We went back to back. Maybe you know, I don't
know if I.
Speaker 6 (11:17):
Game win or if I lost weight, but I gained
a lot of great.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Hair, man, and but it was well worth.
Speaker 10 (11:23):
So proud of the boys.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
City of champions a game man, you know.
Speaker 8 (11:27):
Uh, so want to say we're back to back?
Speaker 9 (11:29):
How you love that?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yeah? All right, drive safe, drive, thanks? Uh all right,
Now I wanted to get him on because they're headed
up to the parade, so you get there and if
you can't get to take it to that Dodger Stadium
event because it's always fun and it's okay kids, if
you want to miss school today, that's all right. Fret
uh yeah, yeah, it's okay today, it'd be it'd be
(11:53):
okay to miss school today. Everybody, once you was there, Dad, everybody,
it's okay. They'll get over it one day. It's not
gonna hurt you.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, it's not going to change your life, all right.
Uh Kevin, Now we played that sound before the break.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
That was who was that? He used to play in
the majors? Right? He works for the Canadian TV Caleb Joseph.
I believe his name is Caleb Joseph.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yeah right, yeah, And that was on the uh, I
don't know if it was on the Sports SportsNation.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
I believe in Toronto that's what it was. Yeah, and
he went viral. He went viral' let's just enjoy a
little of it again.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Go ahead, and it's gonna sound like sour grapes.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
I think the better team did not win this series.
I think the Blue Jays are the better team, and
I feel like they played baseball a certain way that
was infectious, that grabbed the attention of the fans, and
it's it's disheartening to see that the better team did
not win. And that's not to take anything away from
the Dodgers, but the Blue Jays, they did so many
(12:54):
things correct, they did so many things right, and.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Lady luck just did not fall on their on their watch.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
And you just feel like the baseball gods got it
wrong this time and they normally don't.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
And I hate it for the guys.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
That's absolutely devastating, and I guarantee those guys in there
are absolutely crushed.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
That might be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard,
as it Yeah, yeah, come on, man. First of all,
name me one person, namely, one person before this series
started said that the Blue Jays were the better team.
I couldn't pick one. They might have been playing better baseball,
but they're not the better team. That's there's a difference.
(13:34):
Blue Jays got there, they were playing great baseball. We
talked about it during the series. I just couldn't hit
the Dodgers. You know, their bullpen was bad. It was
a lot of things going on. With all that going
on and all the injuries, do the Blue Jays recover
and win a World Series? No, everything had to go
right for the Blue Jays. There's no question the Dodgers
(13:59):
are the better team. What is he talking about? And
second of all, the baseball gods don't get it wrong.
No one says the baseball gods got it wrong. No,
they always say the baseball gods are gonna do what
they do. The ball's gonna find you. It found on
the Andy Paez, it found Niggy Rojas. The baseball gods
(14:20):
are gonna do with the baseball gods do. They don't
get it wrong, They don't get it wrong. For him
to say that is absolutely goes against everything anybody's ever
said when they talk about the baseball gods.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
So he said, you know, the kind of baseball the
Blue Jays played was infectious. Well, if they hadn't made
some base running blunders, they wouldn't have been infected. You
can't turn around after something like that and say the
better team lost. That's an extra inning game, Game.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Seven of the World Series.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Let me ask you this, if they were the better team,
and we can turn around and say this about the
Dodgers too. How many runners did they leave on base
the better team? How many runners did the better team
leave on base?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
A lot?
Speaker 1 (15:10):
If they were the better team, wouldn't those guys have scored?
Wouldn't they have scored if they were the better team.
I don't know if that guy was pandering to the audience.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Oh he was, he was. It was the Toronto Stations,
Canada station, so yeah, he definitely was. But the better
team we had a pitcher that got three wins in
the World Series with a one point one three er
and twenty four innings pitch who was better than him.
(15:45):
Savage came in, gave up home run. I mean, up
and down the lineup. You can't say that they are
a better team. Nobody thought they were a better team
going into the series. The Dodgers were loaded. Everybody knew
the Dodgers were loaded, and Dodgers were the favorite they
were playing. Has been playing great throughout the playoffs. They
(16:09):
ran through the Yankees. They they took the Mariners to
seven games. But they're not the better team. They're not
the better team. And you can't start something by saying
I don't know what to sound like sour grapes. Well
you do, you do? It's sore losers? What is ead?
That's what losers say? Baseball God's got it wrong. Give
(16:31):
me a break, give me all right. Let's go back
to the phone lines in San Diego. Felix, thank you
for calling, Thank you for holding and you say Dave
Roberts is the man? Right?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Absolutely, guys, Hey, Rodney, fine on, what do you think
about that game?
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I love that. I love that. That's not an easy
place to play in Nebraska, but I'm glad we got
away with a win. Yes, sir, yes, sir.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
Well, I got my voice back so I can call
you guys, and I'll probably aged about thirty years this
past weekend. But you know what, guys, I'm gonna keep
it uh. I'm gonna keep it positive because I could
talk about Springer eating a mouthful of karma. I could
talk about Sure's are resting his dead arm. I could
talk about Robleski checking him menace for swinging literally.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Come see me, come see me anyway.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
I'm gonna keep it positive.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
I'm gonna keep it positive. You know what, two things, guys,
class act on the Blue Jays bullpen for repping vest
he has number yeah, number one, okay, number two, and
the other collar on his way. I think he was
on his way to l A or whatnot. But the
other caller got a right, guys, can we please please.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Stop the fire?
Speaker 8 (17:49):
Dave robert chatter.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Already the man's got three rings as a manager, one
as a as a player. Okay, he's already passless orders
as far as the rings go. He's got to pass
him as far as wins as well. Okay, the man,
what else do you want from him? I mean, look,
bottom line, guys, we have two teams next to us,
(18:14):
the Angels and the Madres. Look at their inconsistency. Do
we really want to make cheap years again? No, we
have consistency, We have stability, we have infrastructure. Dave Roberts
is here to stay. I'm a thousand percent on him.
(18:37):
And the last thing I'll say you guys is, I
don't know what that SoundBite was that you guys were playing,
but I'm you guys. Sure wasn't that idiot that tweeted
about Yoshi getting too much money a couple of years ago?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I don't know. I don't know if it is. He
just went viral with that comment that he's done have
sour great, but he might. I don't know if it
was the same guy, but you can't say that.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
After a f nown stupid Felix, thanks for the call,
and Felix brought Felix Rodney. Felix brought something up. You
know what, you know why this is so sweet? And
it is and you want to know the real reason
this is so sweet? Karma? There you go, George Springer,
there you go. You couldn't win it fair and square.
(19:23):
You couldn't win it without a device or a buzzer
on you see, because people say, oh my god, get
over it, get over it. Okay, well you think Andre
Ethier is gonna get over it? That was his world
series ring. You think any like Matt Kemp's gotta get
over it? That could have been his world series ring.
(19:43):
They played their whole lives with that opportunity, and Houston
took it from them, took it and cheated them. And
people didn't let George Springer forget that at Dodger Stadium.
I promise you that they didn't let him forget suh.
And don't think, yeah, oh well, get over it. If
you remember.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
That series went seven games, so It wasn't like, oh,
we would have beat him anyway. We beat him in
five or we swept him. So okay, maybe they get
one if we don't cheat. That was a seven game
series that went down to the wire. And so no,
it's not just get over it, because you're right. Those
guys that are on that team, that was their opportunity
(20:26):
and they were cheated out of it. So and y'ama
motal let him know. Frit Yamamoto didn't forget. He understood
the assignment. If you remember, got him early, got him early. Hey,
how about a little chin music there, Georgie Springer, he
understood the assignment. He did, he did.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
So when you talk about the baseball gods got it right,
I guess the baseball gods got it right this time.
Because that's karma, George. And if you want to carry
this step from because you were on that team you
cheated the people out of Canada winning the World Series,
(21:08):
that's your karma. You single handedly destroyed and crushed the
dreams of an entire nation. That's your karma. Because you
were on that team and you were not winning another one,
you were not beating the Dodgers. Again, you can't beat them,
fair and square. You're the reason the Blue Jays lost.
(21:32):
Now that's what the baseball god.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Say, Rodney.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, you know what, that's what you get for screwing
the Dodgers. That's what happens, and the reason they didn't
beat the Dodgers because, of course, according to our man,
the Blue Jays were the better team.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
You're the reason.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Now eat that and wear it.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
You like that? Uh dude, that was good. That was
very good, very good. Eat that, Georgie, eat that.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Wear that, cheater, Jose and Londale, thanks for holding. Jose,
come on in here. What do you got to say?
Speaker 11 (22:16):
Good morning, gentlemen. I called in on Thursday and told
you guys, Yamamoto MVP World Series. And there it is.
One another thing to that Canadian clown. I think it
was a team with the bigger greates that won the
World Series.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 11 (22:35):
Two years in a row.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Two years in a row.
Speaker 11 (22:37):
I get an early birthday gift, So go Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Happy early birthday, Jose. Thanks, thanks all. Let's go to
man eyes.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Josh. Appreciate you holding, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (22:48):
Thank you for thank you, Ford, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Rodney, Wow, thank you You're welcome.
Speaker 9 (22:55):
I thought, it's funny you brought that clip up while
you while I was on hold, because I saw it
on the internet yesterday.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, and I was thinking, I.
Speaker 9 (23:02):
Was, you had the bases loaded, one out, bottom of
the ninth and you couldn't finish.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Fred, you know, well, I know you know why they
didn't finish because the better team, the better team couldn't finish.
Speaker 9 (23:26):
That's why exactly. And Fred, I mean, you know obviously
all your years on Channel four.
Speaker 6 (23:31):
Sports grew up watching you.
Speaker 9 (23:33):
You covered a ton of Mike Tyson fights. Remember before
Mike Tyson would knock guys out round one, round two,
round three. Who do he lose to Buster Douglass and
their holy Field Lennox Lewis, the guys that wouldn't go down.
That's how the Blue Jays beat up. When the games
we lost, they had us down, they ran up five
to six run leads early, relatively early in the game.
(23:56):
The games that were close, that were down to the wire,
we pulled them out because that that's what the truly
great teams do.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
All right, Josh, that's pretty well said. Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Thanks go to Corvallis, Oregon, home of the Oregon State Beavers.
Speaker 8 (24:13):
Roberts, Hey, guys, are what a crazy series? Crazy?
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Robert? Stop?
Speaker 1 (24:18):
You know what I want to say to you, Robert,
you know what I want to say, Go beats, Go beats.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
Oh yeah, well I'm I'm a I'm a Duck fan,
so that doesn't work. Yeah, it's a beautiful place. I've
been a Dodger fan for sixty seven years and and
it's the craziest series ever. If I watched every game,
and I've watched games since forever. But we got to
(24:44):
thank the Toronto bat manufacturers. Speaking of the Dogs being
on our side, both games six and seven ended on
broken bat double plays. How does that ever happen? You know,
we have the Angels in the outfield or something and
the Dodgers on a basis what what a what a game?
Two double plays, two broken bats? If those weren't broken bats,
(25:05):
who knows what happens?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Right? You got that right? Yeah, you got that right.
Speaker 8 (25:11):
And I don't know if it was.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
I don't know if it was.
Speaker 8 (25:15):
Yeh know how to break bats?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Well, yeah we do break bats, Yeah, we do. Robert.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Thanks, I appreciate the call. And uh, since my daughter
went to Oregon State, go bes. I don't care if
you're a Duck fan. I believe it was what glass now.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
The night before, he's talking about the one that he
hit the kik and he's talked about the pitch that
he threw that was going to run in and and
that's another thing. You know these guys, And we saw
Yama motel, Right, Yama Moto's got his handbook, he's got
the he's got the iPad, he's got his book that
he writes in. He's on the bench in between innings,
even after he came out of the game. He Uh,
(25:56):
the the other day in game six, he's still writing
in the book. And but just studying the hitters and
studying the game and then being precise when you go
out there to execute was was pretty cool. But yeah,
those two broken bats and Kirk, I know Mookie's eyes
lit up because when that ball went to him and
(26:16):
then he saw who was running, he was like, I
got this game over, this game over. He's not beating
he's not beating the throw. As Joe Davis pointed out
at one point, I believe earlier in the series, Uh,
Kirk is the slowest man in Major League baseball. Yes, yeah, all.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Right, let's uh, you know what, let's go to Rancho Koop.
David's been on hold for a long time. David, thank
you for holding.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Go ahead.
Speaker 10 (26:45):
Mister Fred Brogan and mister Rodney Pete. Good morning to
both of you. Is it a pleasure. It is a
pleasure to talk to both of you. I just wanted
to come on here and sell one small short detail
that I saw about Yamamoto.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
At Game seven.
Speaker 10 (26:59):
It was in the eleventh inning. I believe if you
were watching that app bat when that Amiric Guerrero was
on second and I believe it was iks trying to
bun him over. Yamamoto when he threw that pitch, he
immediately turned into a track star and sprinted to try
and feel that ball. It was just, you know where
(27:19):
he completed this series three wins in the World Series.
It was He's just an unbelievable player and it's crazy
to have him on our team. Thank you so much
for taking our call to taking the man.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Thanks for holding. We really appreciate it. H you know what,
Let's do one more now, Let's do one more. By
the way, Ned Colletti is going to jump on at
eight o'clock. Did you get You saw Net's text, right, Rodney?
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Oh, yes, I did, Yes, I did. He just reconfirmed
what he mixed on Friday.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
See at the parade. All right, let's go to Maryland.
Listening on the app, big Terrapin fan. Jason is on
the line, Jason, get on in here.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
What's going on?
Speaker 7 (28:00):
Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. Just like everybody else,
you know, happy celebrating.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Jason. Stop, why are you in Maryland? What are you
doing in Maryland?
Speaker 6 (28:15):
Bringing some winning culture out here?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Oh? Is that what you're doing Maryland? You got a
problem against Maryland? Fred All right, go.
Speaker 10 (28:25):
Ahead, No, yeah, I mean I've been here for five years,
watched the Bubble championship for the Lakers.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
And Dodgers, got the back to back out here.
Speaker 7 (28:36):
You know, we're all going to talk about Yamamoto Otani.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
We're all going to talk about these big stars.
Speaker 7 (28:43):
But I can't stop watching Miguel rohas home run, got
throw the home plate to save the game. And everybody's
been talking about pay Is, how he had a bad postseason.
Speaker 10 (28:56):
But man, what a catch? Uh, just seeing it, just
jumping out of my feet. You know, I'm glad they
made that eighteen inning Game three worth it. I want
to sleep like at three am and had to wake
up two hours later for work, and I just knew.
You know, my coworker kept telling me he's from.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
La as well. Believe that he believes. And that's all
we have to do.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
You know, we know what this team to do, and
we're witnesses and now we're going to get to witness
another perrier to.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Ask you a question real quick. So back in Maryland,
are there a lot of Dodger fans or are there
a lot of Dodger haters? Back there?
Speaker 7 (29:31):
You see a little of both, But as far as
I've been going through this postseason, I've been wearing my
Dodger jerseys, my Dodger hats. You run into a lot
of Dodger fans, but you know, you do get the
occasional haters.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
A lot of seasoned Orio fans out here. You know.
Speaker 10 (29:49):
I was actually at that game where Yamamoto was went
out away from the no hitter.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
The walk back to the car wasn't an easy one,
but you know.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Well, great man, thanks for the call, stay stay back there. Yes,
they appreciation. Uh, Okay, here's what we're gonna do. Ned
Koletti is coming on eight o'clock. We're gonna take a
break now, we'll come back. If you're on hold, we
will try to get to you in the next segment,
and if we don't, we'll get to you next hour.
I know, I'm sorry, but the lines are full. But
when we come back, let's let's get props where props
(30:23):
are due. Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete. On the day we
celebrate the Dodger World Series on five seventy LA.
Speaker 12 (30:29):
Sports and Rojas fight his way on base full count.
Hoffman delivers, Rojas hits it in the air left field.
Speaker 7 (30:45):
This poll's got some carry is gone, It's gone.
Speaker 10 (30:51):
In game seven, he's tied.
Speaker 7 (30:55):
Miguel Rojas off the bench in game sig all the
board in game seven.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I love it. I love Steven Nelson and Rick Monday
a great great you know, it's funny. I had so
many people that that we you know, Rodney Pete, Fred Rogan,
by the way, on a parade Monday, where we're here
with you all morning and then uh, David Vase and
(31:24):
Tim Kates and Steve Sachs will follow us up until
the parade and then uh Petros and money afterwards. A
lot of people, you know, we love, we love, we
love some Joe Davis, right, but there are people that
can't stand him doing the national games because he's got
to be impartial. He's got he's got to give the
(31:44):
other team some love and try. Some people crazy. And
I know some folks that they turned down the sound
and try to match Stephen Nelson with the TV so
they don't have to hear Joe Davis get excited about
the Toronto Blue Jays. That's so crazy. Some of these
Dodger fans are you cannot stand they hold it against
(32:07):
Joe Davis because he's doing the national broadcast of being impartial. Uh,
it's funny. I get it, though, I get it. I
get it. He's our guy. Joe's our guy. Ain't not
supposed to be cheering or sounding excited about another team.
I had the same thing. I heard the exact same
thing from people. Yeah, that was wrong with Joe Davis.
Why does Joe Davis have to say that, like, well,
(32:29):
he's doing the national broadcast. I don't care. How about that.
I don't care. He's with his series against us. It's like,
you know, Joe's.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Pretty good and I didn't realize this, and I'm sorry,
but I was told because I didn't see the game.
Did he do the Vikings and Lions game yesterday?
Speaker 11 (32:50):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (32:51):
I don't know. He might have.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Somebody told me he might have. He did Game seven
of the World Series into the football game the next day. Yeah,
that's unbelievable, very bad.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
And I think that that Kevin Burkhard did the same
thing because he does he hosts the pregame show with
Fox and then he goes and does he does. Oh,
I wonder if he did the game. I wonder if
he did that game. Yeah, I don't know. No, I
don't know if. I don't know if that was the
national game that that Brady was doing. But he's on
(33:25):
with Brady, So Burkard goes right. He several times he's
gone right from there to do the game on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
The postgame is over. The postgame runs long by the way, right,
that goes longer.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Yeah, the game.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
He must have jumped on the Fox jet and just
high tailed it together and do that game. It's pretty impressive.
Can we look ned Collette's going to join us at eight? Kevin,
I know we have to stay on time. Can we
just take a second now, and if you're on. Hold,
we'll get to you next hour. Can we take a
second now to just really shout out Dave Roberts. Look,
(34:01):
when he got the job, he had not managed before,
and people call him a puppet. People suggested that he
did exactly what he was told to do by Andrew Friedman,
and Dave Roberts himself will admit to you, Look, I
have learned and I have grown. He has said that
to us. He's told us that, so he admits it.
(34:22):
He's very honest. What he has done is mind boggling.
I don't know if you truly appreciate what he has
done as a manager of this ball club. And even
if you want to criticize them for stuff in the past,
go ahead, that's fine.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
You're a fan. You can say what you want. But
in the last two years, in the last.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Two years, when the expectations could not have been higher,
let me tell you, this guy.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Rose to the occasion.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
If you I can make the argument right now, Rodney,
he's the best manager in baseball.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I can't make that argument. I would say that hands down,
hands down, and forget about the talent. A lot of
teams have talent, but to deal with the injuries, that
the Dodgers dealt with. Think about the two World Series
and the two World Series runs where he had to
manage the bullpen last year and they threw bullpen games
(35:21):
in San Diego to close it out, and had bullpen
games in the World Series where they couldn't trot out
a starting pitcher to save their life, and he had
to navigate two inning tier three innings there, two inning
tier from the bullpen. And then this year with the
starting pitching getting injured and then coming back and then
(35:41):
navigating a bullpen that can't get it out. Who do
I go to How do I convince my starting pitchers
to go down to the bullpen? You know, Mickey Rowe
hadn't played a second. I think I'm gonna start him
this game. I'm gonna start him, and I'm gonna give
(36:02):
Paez a chance. But if he's struggling still, I'm gonna
make a move. But yet, be ready, Andy, because I'm
gonna call on you. I'm gonna call on you in
the eighth Inny I'm gonna put you in center field,
and by the way, you're gonna make a game saving catch.
I mean, I just don't know what you can say
(36:24):
negative anymore about the guy. Certainly, if you talk to
his players, one percent of them absolutely love Dave Roberts,
trust him. He's a player's coach, but knows how to
be firm. And it's another thing Fred to be able
to navigate those superstars and egos in that clubhouse. That's
(36:48):
not an easy job. So when you say he's the
best manager in baseball, I think it's without question. You know.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
One thing he said, and now is the whole series
played out, I think you can figure it out. I
trust my guys. He made every one of them feel
as if, at any moment they could be the difference
in any of those games. Every one of them, they
(37:17):
could be the difference. Look, he said Piez because Piz
couldn't hit his hat size in the World Series. But
I'll tell you what when they needed him for defense, yep,
because everybody said, you can't take Piz out because of
his defense. Do you remember that, Yeah, that's what everybody said.
Oh okay, he took him out until he needed defense,
(37:38):
until defense was going to be the key.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Put him in. It was the right move.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
If you didn't make that play, the Dodgers lose.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Pi Haz. Just think about what Mickey Rojas think about.
In other games, we've seen Dean play center field right
for defensive purposes. And I know it was late and
maybe Pius was coming up. I'm not sure, but pi
has stepped into that role. We've seen Dean step into
that role. It depends on the situation, and it's just
(38:11):
it was a masterful job of managing by Dave Roberts.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Anybody who says, anybody who says Rodney, well, you know what,
Andrew Friedoman just gives them the lineup.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Andrew Friedman writes it down and hands it to him. Yeah,
until he got out in seventeen maybe two. When he
first got here, Like you said, it was a lot
by the book, but as you mentioned, he admitted it.
I had to learn and start going with my gut
and start doing things from the eye test. And he's
been incredible and the growth and the humbleness that he
(38:45):
will share that I've had to grow in this role.
And he's grown. And I don't think anyone questions his
decision in terms of what he decides to do in
the course of a ballgame.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
All Right, We've got Ned Kletti coming up on the
other side. We're on early today getting ready for the
parade and the celebration at Dodger Stadium. Fred Rogan Rodney
peete on AM five to seventy LA Sports
