Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we continue on Fred Rogan Rodney Pete on a
five seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, yeah, we got the NFL Draft con hup.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
So now let's bring on our insider and our good friend,
Vinnie bon signor Vinnie, how are you today?
Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm doing good, Thank you very much, And yes, the
NFL Draft is thankfully but here, oh, because I think
these next couple of days are going to be rife
with that.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh, Benny, you stumbled through there a little quick. We
lost you for a second. But yes, the NFL Draft
is coming up. How do you feel about this year's
draft in twenty five as opposed to at least the
last couple of drafts, because it feels it feels like
it's a little lackluster, and it feels like they're trying to,
(00:54):
like overly trying to make it exciting or make it
like as big as some of the other years, but
it just doesn't have the pop that the other years
have had. How do you feel about it?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah? I agree, and not to pump up you quarterbacks
too much, but I think this is a lacking in
quarterback star power. I mean, think about last year you
had Drake May, you had you know, Jayden you had. Yeah,
Caleb Williams you had. You had three quarterbacks go within
the first three picks of the draft, and there was
(01:27):
at various times who is better than who? And I
think we're still going to be charting that for the
next ten years. I don't think that that's the case
in this draft. And there's a lot of teams that
need quarterbacks, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants that
are quite honestly saying, you know what, we don't like
the quarterbacks behind cam Ward, and even cam Ward comes
with a few wards. So I think the star power
(01:49):
is lacking in this draft. That said, Rodney, I do
believe that this is going to be a deep draft
for really good players. It might not be the star
caliber players, but you know this as well as anybody
starts teams. You have to have your stars, but you
also have to have your foundation and you're good starters,
and this is the draft that you're gonna be able
to get starters into the third fourth round like Day
(02:10):
one starters, but you might not have the mega superstars
like you had in the past.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Okay, Vinny, do we expect any surprises early in the draft?
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I think Ashton Genty might go a little bit earlier
than people might imagine. I think, you know, three weeks ago,
this was almost a shoeing that he was going to
be there for the Raiders. I still think he will be.
But if whether it's the Jacksonville Jaguars or maybe the
New England Patriots or somebody trades up ahead of the Rares, Genty,
I think when you're talking about the one guy that
(02:43):
could be a mega superstar in this draft offensively at least,
I think Ashton Genty, the great running back from Boise State,
has a chance to be I really like Travis Hunter too.
I just don't know right now. Is it gonna be offense,
is it going to be defense? Is he going to
try to do both? But if you're talking about short bets,
I don't know that there's any more short of a
(03:04):
bet than Ashton Genty. And I know, you know, Rodney,
people look at running backs a little bit differently nowadays.
But I don't care. If I need offensive weaponry and
firepower and and I've got my quarterback, I'm drafting Nashalton
Genti if I have an opportunity to do that.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah, yeah, no, I agree with you. I agree with you, Venny,
And how much do you believe how much do you
believe that the resurgence of the running back and you
know Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry over the last few years,
but Saquon especially last year and what he did for
Philadelphia not only with the yards, but then Philadelphia closes
(03:44):
the deal and goes and wins a Super Bowl on
the back of Saquon Barkley. How much do you think
that brings back the importance of the running back position.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I think it does. I think in a lot of
ways it does. And we could we can also talk
about the Detroit Lions and what they've done and the
success that they've had with a very prominent run game
and running backs in their in their offense. I think
what teams are starting to realize it's hard to find
the Patrick Mahomes of the world. I mean, he's one
(04:17):
of one and and and finding those types of quarterbacks
for Josh Allen, Joe Burrows is is very very difficult. However,
it's probably a little bit easier to find a really
good running back, put a really good offensive line in
front of that running back and win with a I
can't I'm not gonna say a bad quarterback, because Jalen
Hurts is not a bad quarterback. He's a very good quarterback.
(04:39):
Is he need an elite quarterback? Is he somebody that
could just go run his own show wherever under any circumstances. No,
I don't believe that. But if you put him with
a strong running game and a strong offense and build
a good team, you can win super Bowls with that.
With that recipe as opposed to trying to elusively always
try to find that great quarterback and maybe maybe and
(05:00):
you know forstake other good components that you can get
along the way and then lose out altogether. So I
do think that that what these strong running backs are
showing is that you can win at a high level
with a quarterback like Jared Goff. I'm not taking anything
away from Jared Goff, but he's not Patrick Mahomes. But
you can win a lot of football games with that.
You can win a lot of football games, including a
(05:20):
Super Bowl, with the quarterback like Jalen Hurts, if you
have the right pieces around him, one of which is
a very strong and very good running back.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Betty bon Signors will this Fred Rogan Rodney p on
a five seventy LA Sports. You know what, I saw
the movie two weeks ago. I saw it Draft Day
with Kevin Costner. Yeah, that was great as everything played
out then he is it like that on draft Day?
All the behind the scenes stuff, last minute conversations and
(05:49):
the deals not.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
As exaggerated as it was in that movie. I've talked
to a few general managers who had quite a laugh
over that movie. But some of the components are absolutely correct.
Attention on draft day, I think you pretty much know
who you're gonna get under most circumstances. They had to
obviously drive that up. It was a movie, after all,
But yeah, there's still phone calls being made right up
(06:12):
until you pick. There's teams that are trying to trade up,
some teams are trying to look down. There's sometimes conflict
with agents, with players. There's a lot that's going on,
and information obviously is a king. That's why right now
you're starting to start starting to see some rumblings and
some talk, and I would believe about half of it
if that, but we just got a roll with it.
(06:32):
But yeah, there's there's always drama on on on on
draft night and on draft day and leading up to it.
So this is this this draft, I think it is
going to actually have more of that than less of
it because there aren't those star foresure great players within
the first five picks in this draft.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, Benny, how much I mean we always put especially
lately now the world of social media, the world of
TV and everybody needing content, there's it feels like obviously
there's there's more emphasis on draft day. There's the more eyeballs,
there's more TV coverage and radio coverage and all those things.
(07:13):
From an organizational standpoint, is it the how much is
the pressure for a team an organization to get draft
day right more so now than it's ever been before.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Extremely And you know, I'm I'm living proof of that
covering a team that hasn't been able to get the
draft correct. They've had some pretty good drafts the last
couple of years, the Raiders have, but there's a reason
why they've run through so many coaches and general manager
over over the last ten years or so, because those
guys that were here previously couldn't get it right, you know,
on on on draft Day. And I'll throw another another
(07:52):
kid bit in there, you know, social media, money, all
those things that play into this talent drive. Want to
all that, but I'll so the nilus.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Now.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I started to peek Carroll about this, asking this question
and how things have changed, and he was he was
talking about, you know how how in junior high football
now and in travel ball players are being offered money
to come play it, you know, for for a particular
seven on seven team, you know, our bavel ball team,
and starting so much earlier. And he said, because you
(08:23):
might think I'm crazy by saying that, he goes, but
that's the truth of the matter is And so these
kids are being introduced to money, being introduced to moving around.
Remember we used to we used to make a big
deal out of kids leaving or moving around in high school.
Remember when our When I was in high school, I
had the big news. Now it's commonplace for that to
happen multiple times when you're in high school, or multiple
(08:45):
times going from one travel team to the next. And
let alone college where the transfer portal. I don't know,
I've lost count how many transfer portal openings there are.
There just was one right after spring practice. Here, let's
open it up again. So if you weren't, you know,
if you're not in line to be the starting quarterback.
Here go find another team that can, that can offer
you money or whatever the case might be, or a
(09:07):
better opportunity. Here's your transfer portal, you can get out.
Here's your get out of jail for free card. Those
things are now influencing these kids that we're starting to
see those kids now become dropped elible eligible. And you
have to wonder from an NFL perspective, all right, how
much do you care about this anymore? You've got six
million dollars already in the bank, or you've been moving
(09:28):
around left and right. At what point are you going
to be disgruntled at this level where you're already starting
to look for ways to get out because that's what
the only life you know, So all those types of
things come into it, and trying to get your finger
on it on an individual basis, is this guy somebody
that we're going to be able to count on for
the next four years and not be overly influenced by
all those types of other things. The challenge and it's
(09:52):
a new frontier and you're only going to be able
to learn by trial and baptism and all that. And
I think guys are going to get burned. The teams
are going to get burned as a result of this,
and the teams that could figure it out or cut
through it all to make the best decisions possible are
going to be the ones that win Draft Day. And
when you win Draft Day, you generally win on the field.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah. I mean you make a very interesting point there, Vinnie,
because of what the climate is like nowadays, and you
take a kid like Nico from Tennessee right now has
been the focal point of of all of this and
being in the transfer portal and nil and asking for
more money even though the family said it wasn't about money,
but kind of we all know it's about money. But
(10:35):
now he ends up at UCLA and as opposed to Tennessee,
and he goes from a program, no disrespect to UCLA,
but Tennessee they got one hundred thousand people in the
stands every game, right, and they've got one hundred and
fifty million dollars in their in their athletic program to
go spend on kids. UCLA being in LA with all
(10:58):
the competition, they don't have that kind of money he got.
He took a big pay cut to go to go
to UCLA and then at the same time, I don't
necessarily think the program at UCLA is as good right
now as Tennessee when it comes to football and what
they're putting into football, and even the talent level at
(11:20):
UCLA versus Tennessee. This could be an example of a
guy kind of buying into the system and you and
nil and all those things surrounded with it that goes
sideways because it's going to be an uphill battle for
him to have the game same kind of stock. And
then on top of that, what are NFL teams thinking
(11:41):
about him by making this move.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Well, I'm going to bring up something really interesting about
that whole situation. And I know talking to coaches and
talent evaluators about quarterbacks that come out of the Tennessee system,
and it's a very tricky system to assess quarterbacks. It's
pretty much a predetermined offense. Rodney. I sat with a
prominent head coach in the NFL, an offensive minded head coach,
(12:06):
and he was telling me about trying to evaluate a
recent Tennessee quarterback, and he told me, this is why
I think that it's less about the money. I really
actually believed that as opposed to trying to find a
better situation that's going to enhance his viability in the NFL.
And this coach told me, Rodney, he goes, I was
sitting there watching the tape and this was just a
year ago or so. I was sitting there watching the
(12:28):
tape and I got bored because at every step I
knew exactly where this quarterback was going with the ball.
He goes, He's going right here, then it's over to
this guy. That's that guy. Every I could tell you know,
just when they lined up where he was going to
go with the ball, he goes. I'm not blaming the kid.
The kid was doing what the coach asked him to do.
And it's a very quarterback friendly system in college and
you can win a lot of games. But from our
(12:50):
perspective in the NFL, I couldn't get a read on
this kid because I don't know if he's going to
be able to read defensive, if he's going to be
able to make determinations at the line up scrimmage, if
he's going to be able to foster as the play
is going on to kind of like in baseball. Now,
you go to a college baseball game or a high
school baseball game. The manager is calling the pitch. It's
not the catcher in the pitcher anymore. You look at
(13:11):
the catcher looking over at the picture, it takes something,
you know, something gets lost because of that. These kids
aren't being developed the way the professional leagues want to
see him. I get it. The manager wants to win,
the football coach wants to win, but it's doing them
no favors in terms of elevating themselves in the NFL
high So, I actually think for Nico and I don't
know what the UCLA offense is, but I got to
(13:32):
imagine it's a little bit more sophisticated what they're doing
at Tennessee. So maybe he's putting himself in a better
situation to get developed better so that he has a
better viability in the NFL. I'm just throwing that out there,
and I have heard that from a few people like
that played a role in it just as much, if
not more so, than the actual money, Because you're right,
he took a pay cut to go to UCLA without question.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Then he let me go back to the NFL for
a second. What's gonna happen with Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Man? I think he's I think everybody's sort of waiting
to find out what happens in this draft, and I
would imagine the Pittsburgh Steelers are wondering, Hey, are we
gonna get shitar Standers at twenty one? Are we gonna
get Jackson Dart at twenty one? Or are we gonna
get our quarterback in the in the second round even
though they don't have a second round pick. They gave
that up for DK Metcalf. But I think I think
(14:20):
there's teams out there that are waiting to see how
this draft plays out, and I would imagine Aaron's waiting
to see now how this draft plays out, and if
there's a few places that remain without a quarterback moving forward,
then I think Aaron Rodgers becomes real viable for those
teams and vice versa. So I would say I would
(14:41):
say sixty five thirty five that he's playing in the NFL.
But I'll say this too, if the right situation doesn't
doesn't show up for Aaron Rodgers, I could definitely see
him just saying, you know, I wasn't meant to be.
I'm retiring. I'm gonna move on with my life. It's
gotta have it's gonna have to be for him, you know,
the right situ situation, and maybe that materializes after the
(15:02):
draft is over.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, I don't think. First of all, I don't think
he's retiring. I think he's going to wait it out
and there's going to be a team, whether it be
after the draft, whether it be during or end of
training camp that's going to want and need a quarterback
that's going to come calling, or it may be you know,
mid season, early season that's going to come calling, because
(15:26):
it always happens that the team somebody gets hurt or
somebody goes down, or things are not going well and
we got to go get somebody. So he's going to
make himself available. I think that he is making the
right decision and not signing with anybody right now. I
remember Kirk Cousins, you know, signed with Atlanta and Atlanta
decided to draft Michael pennixor right, and by seventh eighth
(15:49):
game of the season, they said, okay, we're going to
go with the young rookie that we drafted in the
first round. And Kirk Cousins like, why did I sign
here if you guys are going to do that. So
I think Aaron looked at that and went, Okay, I'm
just gonna wait it out. But I don't see him retiring, Benny.
I see him waiting for a situation where a team
(16:10):
is sitting there without a quarterback or maybe a quarterback away,
or they feel like it's a quarterback away or good
quarterback play away from them making the playoffs, and then
he goes sign with them. What do you think?
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yeah, I agree, And I think that the Rams could
have been a real situation had had the whole thing
with Matthew Stafford gone in a different direction and they
actually traded him. I think I think he would have
loved obviously, he would have loved to be to be
in Los Angeles with Sean McVay and that that talented group.
I think the Steelers are still a possibility, depending on
what happens after the burning the draft, And I bet
(16:46):
you I would say that if we were to inject
Aaron Rodgers with some troops, serum. I think the team
that he really wants to be with is the Minnesota Vikings.
But they're in a bit of a conundrum because they
just drafted JJ McCarthy and they got to get his
clock going and get him out on the out on
the field to really see what they have, and I
don't know that they know what they have in him,
who's had such a lost year with the knee injury.
(17:07):
And maybe maybe that's where it happens, Rodney. Maybe during
the spring when the when the Vikings get on the
field and they start getting into eleven on eleven and
sit ye seven on sevens and throwing the ball around,
they're like, we're not quite sure that JJ is here.
Let's pick up the phone and call Aaron. So it
could be something along those lines as well. But I
agree with you. I would say that less likely that
he that he stays retired or that he retires. I
(17:29):
think he actually plays. But I'm really intrigued on who
that team is going to be.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Any great job and appreciate you coming on as all ways,
and we're going to talk to you. What draft day again?
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Yeah, after the drive and look forward to it, all right.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, so Anny'll be back on this week of any Rams, rams, chargers,
just anything you can toss in real quick.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah. I was thinking I wouldn't be surprised, and it
might be on day two, but I wouldn't be surprised
to see the Rams take a quarterback. I would love
to see Jalen Moro teamed up with Sean McBay and
let him learn behind Sean McBay for a year or two.
But U but to me, don't be sure the Rams
take a quarterback, and I think for me a wide
(18:13):
receiver or running back for the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
All right, Ben, ain't great stuff. We'll talk to you
later in the.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Week, all right, have a good one, you too, all right.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
You know I'm so sad why we're not going to
get to our topic today. Did you ever hear your
parents having sex?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (18:32):
I didn't traumatize you. I don't think we have time
for it today now. I mean, i'd like to do
it as damn.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
The fact that that is a topic in your mind
that you need to get to I think it makes
it evergreen. We could do it anytime, all right, Son't
bring it back if we don't get to it. We'll
get to it at some point.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
We'll probably lead three or four shows with it in
the future. Just come on the air with it, well, Petros, why.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Can't we Why not? Yeah? All right, Well we'll get
back and talk about the Dodgers next. Come Well, yes,
a Monday. Mandis flew by a little bit today, real
(19:21):
quick today, even though you know his baseball season. Early
in the season, sometimes we have short shows, but today
was a full three hours and it flew by, fred.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Yeah, that's because you were positively captivating. That's exactly why
is that it? Yes, you were as captivating as you've
ever been. I hung out every word.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Today, Ronnick. That's what I do, Freddy, and I was
doing the show with you. So there you go. It's
about the people, baby, you know, that's what it is.
We're here for the people. You know that. Oh and tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
The Dodgers will play the Cubs for the three hundredth
time this year, first of two in Chicago. The only
team on the schedule for the Dodgers this year is
the Cubs. So you know, hopefully that'll wrap the Cubs up.
But I wouldn't be surprised to see him again in
three weeks because MLB must be going with a different
schedule now.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
And you played one team. The ratings, they checked the ratings.
They felt that it it went well in Japan in
Tokyo when the Dodgers faced the Cubs, and so they
say they let's follow that cab and they adjusted some
things and made sure that the Dodgers played the Cubs
twenty five times in the first month, right.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I mean, you know, if the Dodgers play the Royals,
they're out. The Cubs will replace them. That's how they're
gonna do it.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Whatever works is how they're gonna play it. But anyway,
they'll be there tomorrow. They get out of Washington, they
take two a three. Those games weren't easy, but they
got them. They didn't really tear the cover off the ball,
but they scored enough to win. And they would have
won they get out of Washington, or they got out
to Texas, Texas Washington on the Tech bad yeah, yeah,
(21:01):
and they would have won the second game. But Kirby
Yates gave up that home run in that was a
tough one to take. Yeah, that really was. And especially
for him, who pitched their life because.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
He's been good. Yeah, he's been Yeah, and for him
to give up that at walk off the Garcia who
you know, that's what Garcia does though. For for the Rangers,
he's a he's a bad boy. He's a bad boy,
and it happens, it happens.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Yeah, So they'll try to get they'll go back at
the Cubs again tomorrow. I thought it was a successful
series against the Rangers. They didn't kill the ball, but
you know, Rodney, they scored enough to win, and they
could have won all three.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
You know what, it felt like. It felt like they
got through it. Fred, It felt like they just they
It felt like they weren't. I don't know if it's
just like they weren't at their best and some guys
dinged up and some guys coming back. Otani had his baby.
It just felt like they were you know, it's kind
(22:04):
of like those mid season and it's not quite midseason,
but it was like a mid season lull series that man,
you just want to get through it, and you want
to get through it with you know, winning two out
of three, and that's exactly what they did. They don't.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
It's I don't know what the expectation is for Dodger fans.
I'm not even sure what my expectation is. My expectation
is to watch every game, which I do, or listen
to it right here on the radio station. Matter of fact,
yesterday's game I listened to is I was driving. So
my expectation is to watch them grow to watch them
(22:43):
get to where they're supposed to be. And it's very
very early. Anybody that had the expectation, well, with this roster,
they're gonna come out. I mean, you know, they could
go forty and three. They're gonna blow everybody out. How
many games can this team win? I said it the beginning.
Don't do that. That's not what this is about. Don't
(23:05):
start thinking, my god, look at this THESU one hundred
and twenty five game. Don't do that. Don't And I
do think some people are still like that. I do
think when the Dodgers some.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
People, Yeah, I do too. I think that people are
are shocked when the Dodgers lose, or they lose a series,
or they get beat, you know, badly in the series.
When it was a game they lost sixteen or whatever,
or they lose eight to two or eight to one
or whatever it may be. People get shocked about it.
(23:38):
But that's the nature of one hundred and sixty two
game season is that you're not going to be on
And I say it all the time. There's some great
players in Major League Baseball on all teams. Every team
has got some stars on it, and they may not
always play together. They may not always put it together
(24:01):
at the same time, but there are quality players on
every single team in Major League Baseball, and at any
given time, those guys can put it all together and
string together hits, or a pitcher can have a great
day and shut a Dodger team down. So don't get
into mind like, oh my god, they lost it so
(24:22):
and so eight to one, so they're terrible. Now it's
going to happen, not just once, but it will happen
multiple times throughout the season. Tyler Glasnow had to leave
early with cramps.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
We talked about it earlier in the show, and maybe
I was a bit too harsh. I was just adding
to the fact that of course he had dirt and
his cleats on the mud in Philadelphia and that was
it for him. Now cramps are a different story. But
I'm saying, and when he's good, he's great.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
I'm gonna have to talk to Toddler about that because he's gonna,
you know, he's gonna have a bounty on your head.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Fred Well, pickle juice, as you said, I drink, and
hopefully we can avoid the cramps.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Yeah, I got you, Tyler. You know, don't don't mind Fred,
I got just Tyler and make.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Sure if it's make sure, if it's raining, you buy
nine pairs of cleats. Make sure you do that too,
because he's got heat. Look, it's hard to say who
your ace is, but let's put it like this. He
certainly could be the ace he was last year until
they got hurt. He was certainly rolling, rolling, I mean
(25:25):
he was clearly when they needed, you know, the bleeding
to stop Tyler Glass. Now when he came in to
pitch on his rotation day, he was the guy that
stopped everything.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
He really was, and when he got hurt, it was
a big Blowfred. If you remember last night, it was like,
oh my god, our ace, our guy. But right now,
I don't think it's really solidified itself yet. If you
would have to say right now who the ace is,
I would probably say Yamamoto Right well that.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Question, Yeah, one hundred percent, he's the eighth. I mean
it's very early, but the saw young whispers already started
and he's had a year here in the majors now,
unlike Sazanki, who was learning last year. Yeah I'm a
moto was learning Yeah yeah, yeah, I'm a moto. Looks great,
(26:13):
he's basically he is in command when he's pitching.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
No, without question, he has found it is, you know,
another year here he uh not, I mean, I hate
to say learning how to pitch. But with his stuff
and what he's got and everything he's got in his arsenal,
last year was a godsend for him to be able
(26:40):
to complete last year and be be a part of
that environment. But now it's like, now, let's let the
talent come through. Let's let all the talent come through.
Because we got the team, we won a title, so
the pressure of winning a title is not quite there,
even though they want to win back to back. But
now now I'm just gonna let me my talent come through.
(27:01):
And that's what it feels like he's doing right now.
It's like I'm a talented cat, and you're gonna see
exactly what I can bring to the table.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Up like trying and placed on the il fore arm tightness.
But the good news Evan Phillips was back. Came back
a little sooner than they thought he would. But when
Tryna went on the I L they called in Evan
Phillips and I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
He looked super good this weekend boy, he had their number.
He really looked good.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
He look good.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
He looked good. And you know, the good thing about
about trying is that he didn't go in the game.
He felt it in the bullpen before he went out,
and there was little tightness, and I guess the reports
is that he doesn't. He doesn't. He's not gonna necessarily
need any kind of surgery or anything like that, just rest,
(27:51):
which is which is a big thing, because God forbid,
he goes out there and says, I'm going to push
through this. I'm gonna push through this little tightness in
my forearm, and then and all of a sudden it
strain something else, or he pulls and stretches attending, and
all of a sudden, you gotta he's out for the season.
So thank god he was. And that's a maturity thing, Fred,
that's a maturity thing for a pitcher to be able
(28:13):
to say, you know, it's April, do I need to
go stretch this thing, or do I need to go
push this thing? Let me just let me just dial
it back right now. That's not easy to do as
an athlete, especially a pitcher, in a situation where you
know it's a tight ballgame. You want to deliver for
your team to be able to say, hey, Doc, there's
(28:34):
a little something going on here. Let me let me
sit this one out, because they got to scramble. Now,
the Dodgers got to scramble to find the next guy
to go pitch. And you don't you don't ever want
to put your team in that situation. But that is
a big time maturity level which goes and speaks to
the depth of the Dodgers and what they did for
the pitching staff today.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Okay, two teams in the playoffs tonight, one at home,
went on the road. Which one wins or do they
both win? Let's figure that out.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Oh yes, we are, without question the home of the
world champion LA Dodgers. Damn right we are, Rodney Pete,
Fred Rogan, Come on now.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Clippers in Denver. If they don't win their down oh
two and granted they come home, but you don't want
to be down oh two, Rodney. Do the Clippers win
tonight in Denver?
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Yes they do, Yes they do. They correct their mistakes.
Tyler is a excellent coach when it comes to correcting
things that they have not done well in the previous game.
Most often or not He's good at correct and in
game situations. I think you know, Russell Westbrook kind of
(30:04):
went off and was was on one of those heaters
and we you know, people like to say and there
was a little revenge factor for him. But I think
that the Clippers correct everything. I think they I think
they are the better team in this series right now,
even though Denver obviously they have the joker and they
(30:24):
you know, won a title and been there. But I
just think the Clippers are the better team this go
around in the series and they will correct it and
win tonight. Yes, I would agree.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
I think the Clippers do win tonight in Denver, even
the series at one, I think the Clippers are the
better team, all right. Yes at the crypt Kings and Edmonton, Yes, Bdny,
what do you think.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Got Kings go, Go, Kings Go. I think it has
been a you know a lot of talking, as you know, Fred,
A lot of talking out of Edmonds to uh conor McDavid,
even you know, their fans and their crowd, A lot
of talking coming out of Edmonton. I think the I
think the Kings shut them up tonight and and go
(31:11):
and just just take it to them and show why
they're they've been so good on their home ice and
and and take it to edmontonnight. They've had home ice
advantage all season long and this is gonna be no
different for it.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
All right, I will say this, how do you feel?
Thank you for asking, because I haven't said much about this.
As you know, when it comes to the Kings, I'm
very quiet. They're gonna go out there tonight and they're
gonna lay the lumber on them. They're gonna go out
there tonight and send a message. They're going to be flying.
(31:50):
The only guy faster on the ice tonight than the
Kings will be Connor McDavid. The Kings will make the
all just look like they're skating and molasses. They will
be flying all over the ice. They will be physical
when they need to be.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, come on, and they will win Game one.
And in winning Game one.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
They will send a message that your reign of terror
is over.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
What kind of message, Fred, that's kind of message again,
Your reign of terror is over? Is over? It's over.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
And Conor McDavid, who is very concerned about well, we've
been waiting for this moment for a year, not for
the Kings, but now we get a chance to go
back and play you know what, you can go play
Pong in some bar in Edmonton when the series is over.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
That's what you'll be paying. You said, Pong, Yes, like
nineteen seventy five Pong.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Yes, yes, that's how far the King is going to
knock them back to nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Ye. There's a lot of people that listen to us.
They don't even know what pong is. Fred right, Well,
they can look.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Well, ask Conor McDavid because he lives at a time
warp anyway, so he would know. And tomorrow we will
celebrate the Kings win. Tonight you can write that nink
Kevin's giving me like the stink eye.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
The fact that you mentioned pong. Kevin doesn't even know
what pong is, do you, Kevin? Kevin?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
I do, but I mean you use it to your point.
Most people don't.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Well, there you go anywhere.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
I don't care the jen A lot of our audience
have no idea what that is.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Well, look it up. It'll be your assignment for tomorrow.
It's like the very first Atari game that you play.
That that's exactly right.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
The very first game video game ever that came out
so simple you know exactly.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Hey, that was good at pong. Kevin's ever played. All right, Ronnie,
thank you, thank you for today. Kevin. Good job.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
I'm gonna go play some pong right now, Fred, there
you go.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Pong it. Rodney will do it tomorrow
