Speaker 1 (00:02):
And we continue on Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete on five
s LA Sports, Dodgers getting ready tonight to open against
the Yankees, and David Vassa is at the stadium, so
let's welcome him on now and Dave good afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Hey, what's up, guys? Yeah, just falling into the stadium
right now?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Well, all right, how was traffic? Hi?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Guys?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Can you hear us now?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Okay, Hey, Dave, So Fred asked you I was traffic
pulling it into the stadium because I'm actually going tonight,
so I just want to make sure that I need
to leave early enough to get there without any traffic.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, it's gonna be a sellouts, So Rodney, you better
leave early.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I'm gonna leave right after the show, all right for
a seven tenth start. Yes, I'm going to leave right
after the show.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Okay, Dave, let's talk about Tanner Scott. Are they going
to keep sending him out there or are they going
to do something?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I mean, that's a question for Dave Roberts today. I
think we're going to ask today what the plan is
for Tanner Scott because are they going to continue to
put him in situations but quite Honestly, that situation in
Cleveland was low leverage. He was bringing him in in
the seventh inning to face the bottom of the order
and bringing him back in the eighth inning to face

(01:31):
the bottom of the order and then leaving the top
of the guardian's order for Alex Vesia if it got there.
So yeah, I just I just think the Dodgers are
are in a tough spot considering how many injuries they
have to their bullpen, and that's why it's vital right
now for Tanner Scott to be on his game.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yeah, And I was saying they, I mean, you can
do a lot of different things. Fritz said, just you
got to shut him down and do something with him.
And I said, the only way he's going to get
better is you gotta. If he's your guy, and with
the injuries, you got to keep bringing him out there.
And and it's May. This is not September. This is May,

(02:13):
so you got to see if he can figure it out.
And what Mark Pryor and Dave Roberts said is that
he's throwing too many balls, you know, right in the
middle of the plate and serving it up for guys,
and he's got to work on that.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
But you can't just sit him down.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
If he's your guy, and he's now the only guy
that really got because of the injuries, you gotta keep
trotting him out there, don't you.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
They have nobody else. That's another issue here. I mean,
we're talking about two different things, Rodney. It's one thing
to be effective, but the facts are if they had
Blake Tryn and if they had having fill ups Michael
Kopek was back, there would be more opportunities to be
able to put him in lower leverage innings and lineup spots.
But that's the predicament that Dodgers are in right now.

(02:58):
They don't have those guys and they need the guy
they signed for the second richest contract in free agency
the last couple of years to be that guy. That's
why they paid him.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, Dave, do you think because you follow these guys
every single day, he's just going through kind of a
bad spell here, and you can figure it out.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, he's too good to keep this going. But like
I said, he'll figure it out. But the sooner the better,
considering where the Dodger bullpen is at right now, it's
great when he figures it out. You know, maybe in
his next outing or hopefully in his next outing, but
the Dodgers kind of need him now.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
This series now with the Yankees, we've talked about it.
You know a lot of people saying this is a
revenge series for the Yankees. Fretz said, there's no revenge
because it's a regular season, not the World Series. At
this juncture in the season, what was this series more
important to the Dodgers of the Yankee.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I think for both it's kind of like an ego thing, right.
I feel like both teams have that ego where, you know,
the Yankees feel like they gave that World Series away,
while the Dodgers feel like, you know what, we were
the better team. We had the bigger hits, the bigger moments,
and didn't make those mistakes. So I feel like it's
kind of at this stage of the season obviously, you know,

(04:21):
it's like we talked about, it's the last few days
of May, it's the beginning of June. There's not a
lot of series like this that happened during the baseball season.
So I would say what it does is just get
everybody excited about regular season baseball when a lot of
times the national scope is focused on the conference finals
in the NBA or the NHL playoffs. If you're really

(04:46):
paying attention, you'll notice the ratings this weekend. You'll notice
the excitement not just in LA and New York, but
in between, because these are not only the two biggest franchise,
but they're the two best teams with the biggest star
in the sports. So it just brings baseball to the
forefront in the beginning of June when usually it's not.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Dave.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
How would you evaluate Clayton Kershaw so far?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I mean, the ultimate competitor. Fred, Explain to me how
he's throwing eighty eight eighty nine getting through five innings
of a major league lineup, while a guy like Dustin
May is giving up three run homers throwing ninety five
ninety six. It's just a guy that knows how to pitch.
He's a future Hall of Famer, and I think we
need to start reminding ourselves of that. It's not just
because he wants through ninety five. It's because of what's

(05:36):
inside his heart made him a Hall of Famer more
than anything else, and that's what continues to make him
effective right now, and quite honestly, other guys than younger guys,
less experienced guys. With him being around now every day,
would I would watch him and take some notes.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Hey, Dave, what do you say to.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Fans and people that think that, you know, they may
be a little bit concerned about the Dodgers obviously with
the injury situation, what's going on? But where do you
where do you, I guess feel with this team right now?
Do you feel like once they get their guys back,
they're going to be once again the dominant Dodgers?

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Or is this going to be you feel a.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Dog fight all the way through with the Padres and
the Diamondbacks, and then you know, go across the National
League there's some other good teams out there.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Is this going to be a dog fight all the
way through?

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Or is it going to be once the Dodgers get
all their horses back, they're going to start.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
To hit fire.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yeah, when are they getting their horses back? Rodney? Is
the question? Can you answer that? Because the longer that
they're out, the more of a dog fight there's going
to be. That's a fair point, right, because it's just
it's not just glassnow or snow. We're talking about key
members of their bullpen. That's the bigger concern. You know,
people can folk on glass Now and Snell all they want,

(07:02):
and yes they're big parts of the starting rotation, but
the Dodger bullpen, to me, is the biggest concern because,
like we've talked about, they've thrown more innings that you
can never take back than any other team in baseball.
They've blown more saves than any other team in baseball.
When is Evan Phillips going to come back? Is he
going to come back? Blake Trinan, is he coming back

(07:24):
in August? Is he coming back? I mean, these are
questions that we like to believe they're going to come back,
but there's no certainty they are. And if they don't,
who's going to step up? And that's why I feel
like as we get closer towards the end of the season,
maybe it is a strong consideration and make Bank Casparius
a high leverage, late inning Evan Phillips type of release pitcher.

(07:47):
I feel like once the postseason comes around, he certainly
will be in that role.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Dave talking about closers, the Dodgers acquired Das from Cincinnati.
He had a really good run and then he got hurt.
What do you know about him.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I know that he was an all start, a stay
close to forty games just two years ago. I know that,
you know, things obviously didn't go so well in Cincinnati
for him, and that's part of the reason why the
Reds had such a short leash on him to send
him down to the minor leagues. He is making four
million dollars, so the red probably thinking, you know what,

(08:24):
we can't carry a guy to try to huddle reclamation
project paying him four million dollars, so they shed his salary.
The Dodgers can be that team that can't absorb four
million dollars for a project and hopefully get him back
on track. But the Dodgers, like I just explained, they
need innings from the bullpen and he's a live arm

(08:45):
and if they could get him back on track, I mean,
that was an incredible trade to be able to bylow.
They gave away nothing for him, and they're gonna they
possibly could get an all star closer to add to
their bullpen that's absolutely depleted right now.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Okay, Dave, I think watching Kim play is so much fun,
but he's really going to have a hard time finding
playing time now. Wasn't he with Edmund back and Hernandez
back that he's just not going to get starts all
over the place in.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
The Yeah, he's in the Chris Taylor role and he
serves it better because he has speed. He's a better
infielder than Chris Taylor was. He has potential to be
a better hitter at this stage of his career. But
he's a role player. He's a bench player, and he
still hasn't proven that he can hit the fastball consistently.
So he's not better than Keith k He's not better

(09:37):
than Edmund. He's a guy that is a weapon off
the bench that can bring the speed and force the
issue and occasionally start. I don't think anybody else, anybody
is under false pretenses, including Kim, that that is not
his role.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
All right, Dave, you're around this team all you know,
all season long. You're in the clubhouse, you talk to
the guys, and.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
You're you're close to him.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
You you talked about Tanner Scott and them not talking to
the media the other night, and I one hundred percent
agree with you. As a player, you understand and list
I did understand that there's a there's a part, and
there's an agreement and there's there's a responsibility as a
professional player that you've got to face the music. You

(10:25):
were harsh on him, and I thought you were spot on.
Have you heard anything back from from him or the
Dodgers or anything as to why he did not speak
to the media.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Well, it's partly the media's fault. Why are they going
to Alex Vesia first. I mean, Alex Vessi is not
the one making seventy two million dollars. Alex Vesia uh
is not the guy that gave up the tying runs
and is blown five safe. So I put that partly
on the media for going to Alex Vesia first. And
you kind of gave Tanner Scott an out with that,

(10:59):
so you know, it's not entirely Tanner Scott's fault. But
certainly have experienced Rodney where guys are standing in front
of their locker closers, where they're standing in front of
their lockers and maybe another reliever was the last guy
standing to give up the knockout blow. But they've been
there to say, Hey, don't go talk to him, come
over here and talk to me. But you know, I

(11:21):
like Tanner Scott. I think it's a learning experience, and
I don't think it's all on him. I think there's
got to be some other accountability.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
All right, Dave, appreciate it, have fun tonight. Thanks. Oh
what's your guest? Who's your pregame guest? Can you tell
us yet?

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
We lost him?

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Team Sometimes he reveals that it's it's like the big
reveal who he's going to have.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
That was interesting that he uh, he kind of he
didn't put it all on Tanner Scott because he was
very hard on Tanner Scott not not facing the music
right and and then he kind of had his back
a little bit about the media and not going to
Tanner Scott first and put in Alex Bessia as their

(12:04):
first question. But from my understanding, Tanner Scott was not
available for the media to even talk to. So that
was that was an interesting answer to that. Yeah, but
what else did he say?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
But he'll learn, he'll learn. Yeah, Yeah, I think they've
did a massalid, Derek, to be.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Honest with you, yeah, I do too, did a massalid.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
But I think he's aware. I think Tanner Scott's aware
that you can't do that. Don't do that again, and
it probably won't happen again, because, as Dave pointed out,
he'll learn. And the thing is, when you look at
the media in Los Angeles, and I've said this before
because I've been a member of it for a few years,

(12:51):
everybody thinks the East Coast media is really hard and
the West Coast media, you know, everybody's at the beach
getting loaded and we just kind of show up and
laugh and everything is wonderful. They don't understand the media
in Los Angeles is not easy. It's not though, you know.
I mean, you played in Philly, Rodney, you know what

(13:12):
tough media is. New York is tough media. But this
is no cakewalk here. No, it's you know, in a
small town, in a smaller market, the media is more gentle.
And the reason that is is because the team controls
everything and will threaten you. It was kind of what
Lincoln Riley tried to do with the kid from the

(13:32):
Daily News. It didn't work here, but it would have
worked in Oklahoma. Yeah, you know, we'll take your credential.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
How do you like that? Okay, take it, no problem.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
If you told somebody in a smaller market we're gonna
yank your credential, oh god, don't do that. You can't
do that in LA.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
It's different.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
You're all right, take it fine, I still talk about you.
It's not a problem. I have no concern. If that's
how you want to be. You're You're the one starting this,
so now you're going to get it. So maybe tann
or Scott in Miami where nobody was, or in San Diego,
which is a smaller market. You know, if he skipped out,

(14:12):
people go always just skipped out. Yeah, but here it's different. Yeah,
they got an eye on you. You know, they got
to b line for you, and you can't do that.
You can't do that in LA. It just and I
talked about this the other day.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
You know.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Best thing for me was going to USC and understanding
that because USC was a focal point of LA sports
and I had to be accessible. I had to take
the take base some music, win, lose a draw. Now,
you know at that time they go a little bit
easier on college kids than they do professional but still
I had to face some music and I couldn't duck it.

(14:54):
And as the quarterback of that team here in LA,
I understood that. Now when you play and professionally in
LA you better understand that is no different than being
on the East Coast. I mean, they think it's laid back,
but it really isn't. It really isn't, and you better
understand that, all right.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
So next Friday, we invite everybody to come on out
to Sketchers. It's brand new PCH and Crenshaw in Torrents.
The first thousand customers because it's new, you get a
free Sketcher's tote or a hat because I got swagged
because it's new, and there's more for a limited time.
If you get out there early enough, you buy two
pairs of Sketchers, they'll give you a third pair free,

(15:37):
give you a third pair free. Walk out of there
with three pairs of shoes. Pretty good, huh. Stylish sneakers,
comfy kicks, they can be yours because Sketchers has you covered.
It will be next Friday Sketchers PCH at Crenshaw in
Torrents and there will be a special guest Clippers star
Norman Powell. And again I want to emphasize, do not

(15:58):
upset Norman Powell. If you come down there, do not
upset Norman Powell.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
I don't know he's gonna I'm gonna have a ruin
and a Trojan on stage together.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
There, I know, I know, I know, you know. I'm
always gonna get the better of the Bruins. That okay,
well good. I will not be between the two of you.
Then I will tell you that because I'm not upset
Norman Powell. Anyway, we invite you down, we'll probably have
more things to give away. But it's a week from today, sketchers.
That's p h at Crenshaw in Torrents.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Who do you pick? You get to choose. It's up
to you.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
You're running the team. You can sign one Aaron Judge
or Shoho Tani.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
That's next.

Speaker 7 (16:41):
Oh come on, come on, come on, come on, come.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
On, yeah, yeah, it is Friday, Rodney Pete, Fred Rogan,
come on, now, come on.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Come on, let's do this. Let's have some Spotlight on Blue.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Spotlight on Blue is presented by Spotlight twenty nine Casino.

Speaker 8 (17:20):
Eric Dickerson's favorite spot in the Coachella Valley.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Spot Light on Blue, What did the Boys in Blue?

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Luxury is coming to Coachella in twenty twenty six with
the opening of Spotlight twenty nine So Telling Resort, an
elevated experience that will define luxury in Coachella.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Coachella Valley, Bessy Be.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Spotlight twenty nine dot Com.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Okay, with the Yankees in town to take on the Dodgers,
the two.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Biggest stars in baseball be on the field, Aaron Judge
and shoe Heyo Tani. Now Aaron Judges deal is a bargain.
You only say you know that'll prove to be a
bargain down the road. Yeah, I think it's deals three
on hundred and ninety million dollars. He makes forty million
a year. Think about that, he makes forty million dollars
a year. That's a bargain and you could argue the

(18:08):
best hitter in the game. Now, on the other side,
the Dodgers probably have the second best hitter in the
game and the most electrifying player who can also pitch.
He's faster than Judge Otani. Judge does fleet defense, but
Otani will pitch. We know that Otani the term would

(18:33):
be monetized very well off the field for the Dodgers.
Aaron Judge also is a focal point of Yankee marketing,
but the Dodgers generate far more revenue because they have
Otani than the Yankees do with Aaron Judge. Because the
Dodgers control another country or two or three.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
But there they are.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
They're right in front of your rodney and you can
start your team, but you can only pick one. Honestly,
which one would you pick?

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Oh, it's so Tani. It's Otani without a doubt. And
that's no disrespect to Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge is to me,
over the last three, four or five years, best player

(19:26):
in baseball.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Not even close, not even close.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Otani had a great year last year, but consistently Aaron
Judge hitting fifty sixty home runs a year, carrying that team,
playing right field, playing center field, what he does for
the Yankees on a consistent basis, he's a bad man.
But if I'm starting a team now, I am going

(19:53):
with Otani because of his versatility, because of him being
able to not only hit, run, but then the effect
what you gotta do. And we don't know how that's
going to play out going forward. It's pitching, we don't know.
We we we believe that we're going to see what

(20:13):
we saw in the w BC and what we saw
from him and in Anaheim with pitching for the Angels,
but we've yet to see it happen for the Dodgers,
and if he's able to duplicate that and and really
come back with that as a weapon for the Dodgers

(20:34):
as a pitcher on every fifth, sixth start or.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
A game, then there's no man, it's not even really close.
It's not even close.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Right now as a as a just a d h
he's got that effect on the game.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
But Aaron Judges is right.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
There because he also plays defense and is not yet
played defense or pitched.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
I would take Otani too, and for some of the
same reasons. I think Otani just from a watchability standpoint,
and Aaron Judge is a monster. I mean Aaron Judge,
he steps up to the plate, I think you have
to assume watching him at any moment. And I'm not

(21:29):
just talking about men. This guy hits a lot of
home runs. At any moment, he could hit one out.
Not he's a good hitter, but at any moment, he
could hit one out. So I think you have to
keep that in mind. But for my money, I think
Otani is more of an electrifying player. And again, they

(21:51):
each have their skill set and we've not seen Otani pitch,
but Otani can run, so Otani can influence the game.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
In that way.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Aaron Judge is a fine out feeler, but it's just
he can kill the ball. I think Otani is more electrifying.
I think he can do more things, and I think
in that regard he brings more value. Now, who's more
valuable to their team? And I made this point earlier.
If Judge goes out for the Yankees, they are in

(22:23):
big trouble. We can all agree on that they're in
big trouble. If Otani went out for the Dodgers, it
would sting a lot, but I don't think they would
be in the same kind of trouble. I think the
Dodgers could endure an Otani injury better than the Yankees

(22:46):
could endure an Aaron Judge injury.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Is that fair to say? One hundred percent?

Speaker 7 (22:52):
Right?

Speaker 4 (22:53):
If you take Aaron Judge out of the Yankee lineup,
they they don't even make the playoffs. If you take
Otani out of the Dodger lineup, they still could win
the World Series.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
That's the difference. That's the difference.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Aaron Judges so and and and this year he has
been incredible, both of them actually have I mean Aaron
Judges close to hitting four hundred, you know, we just
talked about averages and now that doesn't matter. But he's
close to hitting four hundred with being the second, you know,
second guy behind Otani and home runs. So he is

(23:35):
a big part of that Yankee lineup. But the Dodgers
are so stacked that they can they can absorb and
otani absence.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
You know.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Now, if Otani was also the ace of the staff
and you know, pitching every fourth or fifth, you know
game for the Dodgers and he was lights out, then
then we would think about it differently. But until then,
right now, Aaron Judge is definitely more valuable to the
Yankees than Otani is to the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Yeah, and that's you know, those are the marquee names
tonight in that series. They're the guys. They're the marquee
matchup Otani and Aaron Judge. And that is why, as
Dave say, I think pointed out and del Plaski for
a regular season game end of May early June, these

(24:30):
are gonna pop. There's a reason they're all gonna be
a national TV. These will pop. These will be for
baseball about as big a time as it gets before
the playoffs. And I also think it's great they're playing
at Dodger Stadium, and I hope tonight, I hope tonight
that the fans have that kind of playoff mentality because

(24:54):
it also shows well on TV. You know, Dodger Stadium
can be a very tough player for opposing teams to
play if everybody is involved, if you're not sitting on
your hand. You know, if you are in the dugout
club tonight, so you will be seen on TV, especially

(25:14):
if you're in that section right behind home plate, or
if you know somebody that will be there tonight, you
might want to remind them you're going to be on
TV the whole game. How about you stay off your
phone or start waving to people up in the crowd.
Wait between innings. To do that, you really have to

(25:36):
take the call right then two outs in the bottom
of the third.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
You've got to talk to the people that see you
on TV for Adam and come on.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
I understand that.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah, I'm well aware of that, but at least you
understand the moment.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
Well understand also, and also I shouldn't say this because
I am actually going to the game tonight. Don't don't
don't be LA and get to the game in the
third fourth inning, Get there early, Get there for the
start of the game. So it definitely looks good, you

(26:12):
know as it portrays on TV to the East Coast.
I know by the fourth fifth inning it will be
packed and everybody will be in their seats.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
But try to get there early tonight.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
I know it's Friday, it's crazy, but try to get
there early tonight. If you got to tell your boss, hey,
we're talking to you right now.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Bosses, let your people off early.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
If they're going to the game, let them go, let
them go, let them get in the seats, let them
be ready to go. But yeah, yeah, I mean it
can be imposing, but you're right, you know, sometimes l
it could be laid back, but Dodger fans against the
right opponent, and when it counts Dodger fans, it's it's
it's a crazy, intimidating atmosphere at Dodger Stadium when they

(26:58):
want to be.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
And here's one of the tip if you're at the
game tonight, because at one point or another, you will
do the wave because everybody always does it every game.
Try not to do it at a critical point in
the game when the Dodgers are doing something.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
You're saying don't do the wave. I'm saying, do it
between innings. Do it between innings, not at all.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
It's cool too when you see a beach ball poppet.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Oh, that's definitely gonna be there. There'll be a few
of those. But how don't we do the wave between innings?
No one's saying don't do it, because God forbid, if
you don't do it, your whole experience is ruined.

Speaker 6 (27:36):
Yeah, God forbid we actually go there to watch a
baseball game.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Yeah, so don't don't don't not do it. I mean, wow,
you gotta do it.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
And if you don't, and if you're sitting there and
you don't do it, the guy next he gives you
a dirty look.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Always always gives you that dirty look. Do the wave.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Do it between innings. Don't do it during the game.
You know, it's not time in the eighth. If the
Yankees have a man on with two down and the
Dodgers are trying to get out of the inning, now
it's not the time for the wave.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
It's not time for the wave.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Or let's say the game is tied in the bottom
of the ninth and the Dodgers have a chance to
win the game, and it's been a very tight game
all long, all along. Now is not the time for
the wave. It's not the time.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Don't do it.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Then do it between innings. If you have to make
a phone call, make the talk between innings.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Don't I'm serious.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Don't be those people behind home plate where we can
see everybody, you know, and we're watching the game on
TV boom, and you see the crack of the bat,
but you look into the second row and there's somebody
not even watching the game. They're talking to their friend
over there. You see that all the time. They don't
even see what happened. They're looking over here, and then

(29:03):
their head slowly comes around. Well, you just missed it. Now,
that's on you. That's on you if you want to
pay all that money and miss it, or probably if
you missed it, if somebody gave you the tickets, whatever,
somebody paid for him.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
But watch the game, and one more tip okay, one
more tip okay.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
In a game like this, when the stakes are high
and two of the best teams are playing, it's not
time for you to be sitting behind somebody talking about
your summer vacation plans. It's not time for that or
how your golf game is.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Oh you hate that, red, don't you hate that?

Speaker 9 (29:42):
You overheard that one time you shared that that you
overheard somebody just talking about something totally not relevant to
what was going on, right, it.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Was everybody's sitting here watching the game, and you're back
there going, yeah, you we were thinking of going to Montana,
thinking of going to Montana, of but now I don't
think we're gonna do well.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Yeah, you've been to Branson, Missouri. We heard that's a
good play. Who cares? I don't care. And there is
a difference between fans on the East Coast and fans
on the West coast.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
I will say that when you go to a game
in the East and you're in an arena or a stadium,
those people might be talking and they might all be
experts on the game, which of course none are, but
they all believe they are, yes, and they will be
talking loudly and you will hear it.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
That is true.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
But at least they're talking about what's happening there. At
least that's what's going on. They're not like another guy
that I sat in front of one time. Well, I'll
tell you when you talk about playing Riviera. Now that's
a tough course.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
What do you, Scottie Scheffler, Why are you saying this?
Who cares what you think? We don't?

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Just being honest. Take it in the spirit in which
it's intended. No one gives a rats. Ask what you
think about golf, your vacation, your kids, and you know,
if you had just seen little Ashley granted she's four
years old, but man, when she was playing Ayso soccer

(31:30):
and she fell to tell but it was great, Okay, good,
good for Ashley.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
This is not in between innings either, right, this is
like on the tra game.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
It's during the game. So when we have a matchup
like tonight, maybe a little respect for the game. Wave
between innings during the game, watch the game, and if
you must talk about what you're going to barbecue on Sunday,
handle that between innings as well. Don't ruin other people's enjoyment.

(32:06):
Everybody paid to get in there, and you would hope
they paid to watch the game. So don't be selfish
and ruin other people's enjoyment. Really good point, good point.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
This message brought to you by the eye cancel yes,
and by the way, based on your history and giving
these PSA announcements, and we should we go back to
the show hal Tani, which we told people for three
straight hours, don't get in line. Everybody's getting a bibblehead.
And they all still showed up four hours before the game.
Something that tells me the fans are not gonna heed

(32:39):
your messaging.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Fred Yeah, you're probably right.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Alrighty, we are back to put a bow on this.
Oh the boys are out at the stadium today. Yeah,
well we'll wrap it up and send it out to them.

Speaker 8 (33:19):
Come on, come on, Roddy free friend, Rogan, come on,
let's wind it up and wrap it down Freddy as
we get Freddy for the Yankees come into town to

(33:40):
face our Dodges.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
How do you think it goes? Two or three? Three
game set? How do you think it goes? Uh?

Speaker 4 (33:51):
I think the Dodgers take two out of three. I
think the Yankees get one. I'm not sure what day
it's going to be. I think the Dodgers get to
know night, and I think the Dodgers get tonight and
they got the Dodgers get tomorrow, and the Yankees find
a way to win on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Okay, Well, tonight would be huge if they get it
because they're facing Max Freed. Yep, Landed Nack goes Tomorrow night,
and then Sunday is Yamamoto. So I'm thinking the Dodgers personally,
I take that.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
I take that back tonight and Sunday. How about that. Yeah,
we're both in agreement. Yeah, the wild card is Landed Neck. Yeah,
that's the wildcard.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Yeah, and it would be great if they got the
Freed tonight. That would be great. Gonsolin and you know,
we'll see maybe Gonsol will have a really good aunting tonight.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
Yeah, you know, you know, and maybe the you know,
the blister situation is way behind him and uh he
goes out and pitches well, which is very very capable
of doing. You know, Max Freed has been phenomenal though.
That's the thing. You know, they got to get to him,
and hopefully they can get to them somewhat early and

(35:04):
put some pressure on that team. You don't want all
the pressure to be on Flint trying to hold that
lineup down, you know, with the bats that they have
in that lineup. So I'm sure they're thinking the same thing.
You know, we can't let the Dodgers get going with
that lineup, and Max got to hold them down. So
we got to get some runs. I think the same
thing holds true for the Dodgers. They got to get

(35:26):
some runs, take the pressure off of Tony Gonsolin.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
I'd like to see Mookie get going a little bit
tonight too. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Yeah, he's got to get going. He's got to get going.
And you know, I know there's some talk about Mookie
and you know where is he. Is he struggling and
what's the cause of it? And is it playing shortstop
too much for him to really focus and be effective
at the plate.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
I think it's just time. I think it's just playing.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
I think the setback and you know, the start of
the season Japan, him being sick and losing all that
weight really had an effect on him that he doesn't
he doesn't really talk about a whole lot, but it
certainly did have an effect on him and has had
an effect on him, and and he's slowly working himself back,
but that you can't lose, you know, twenty twenty five

(36:18):
pounds and then all of a sudden come back and
be effective.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
You got to get that back. And it's a work
in progress, all right. Katie.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
You know we haven't spoken to you today. You have
filled in for Ronnie and Katy. We would just like
to say to you, thank you for filling in for Ronnie.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
How have you been.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
I've been good.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
How you been? How you been, Katie?

Speaker 4 (36:46):
I think good?

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Oh my god, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
Oh that's the best. All right, Katie, thank you. Kevin,
have a terrific weekend. Appreciate it. Go Dodger and Rodney.
We'll get them on Monday.
