Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we continue on Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete on A
and five seventy LA Sports Dodgers. Uh, well, Dodgers will
try to get right tonight against the Minnesota Twins out
at the stadium. It has been a rough, rough start
since the end of the All Star break, and to
talk more about that, the guy that will shed the
light on it and tell us what is wrong. It
(00:23):
is great for the first time of the second half
to welcome Dave advance A to the show from Dodgers Stadium.
Dave Good, afternoon, Hey guys, Hey Dave. Okay, well, maybe
it's an oversimplification. We know they're not hitting, but what's wrong.
Everything's kind of seems out of sync here.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah. Well, that's a big problem when you're not hitting,
and especially your your big guys are not hitting. And
that's the reason why Dave Roberts decided to shake the
lineup up and have Mookie Betts lead off and o'tani
hit second, and Freddie Freeman where somehow will fall into place.
I'm not sure Freddy's going to play today. I would
(01:05):
venture to say he's not after being hit by a
pitch on his left wrist. But yeah, you go from
Mookie Betts to Tommy Edmund to Taoscar, Hernandez missing, next
monthcy missing, keith Y Hernandez, Andy Paez having his rookie
struggles here in the middle of July. So all of
(01:26):
those things are happening at once. And when the Dodgers
do score runs like they did the last couple of games,
they're pitching in their defense has let them down.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, that's the thing. Everything's coming apart, Dave, And it's
you know, it's one thing. Yeah, your pitching maybe off,
but your offense is on. Usually one balances out the other.
But now when it comes to like you said, the
pitching is off, when even when they get leads, the
pitching comes down, or there's it's defense, all of these things.
(01:57):
How much we talked about MOOKI earlier. How much do
you think Mookie's struggles are due to the way he
started a season being sick and losing twenty five pounds,
and then as Taoscar, it just does he doesn't even
seem right or even seem right in just the way
his mannerisms are.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Is he right?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
I don't believe Taoskar's right. He's like Freddy Freeman though
he wants to be out there every day and we'll
play through a lot of pain, so we'll see where
it goes and whether or not it gets better. But
he seemed to be moving around better over the weekend
and right field, so that's a good sign as far
as Mooki goes. When I asked him yesterday about whether
(02:39):
or not losing that much weight and being sick at
the beginning of the year was part of it, he
said it might be a factor, but it's July now,
and even Dave Roberts said that yesterday. It's July now.
You can't lean on that as an excuse because there's
been a lot of time to try to recoup and
get yourself right. So you know, it seems like it's
(03:02):
more of Mooky in my opinion, Moki over doing it,
trying to over do the batting practice, and it's a
confidence issue. But yesterday, I will say this, yesterday it
worked for Dave Roberts and Mookie Bets to have him
hit lead off. He had much better at bats, much
better swings. So that's where he has felt more in
(03:25):
control and in command and confidence. So that's what the
Dodgers are banking on to have Mooki lead off, So.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
That's the deal. Now, you think they'll just let him
lead off going going forward.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
That's what Dave Roberts said yesterday. He's going to be
the leadoff hitter for at least the next couple of
weeks until Max months he returns, and then they'll reevaluate
the best way to stack up the lineup.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
And what about him playing defensively, Gabe, is there any
thought And you probably answered this a lot, but you
always read, well, maybe they'll put him back in right field.
Is there any possibility of that?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Dave Roberts said yesterday, No, there's no. Uh, there's no
plans to move them back to right field right now.
And that goes back to the Dodgers' outfield defense. Yeah,
they can add a bat, Yeah they can add another
hitter to left field, but they have a lot of
internal options to make their outfield defense better, whether it's
Edmund Keith k Pajez in center, or if they do
(04:23):
feel like they're a better team with Tommy Edmond at
short like he did in October last year and Mookie
Bets back in right field, So they have a lot
of they have a lot of flexibility and versatility that
if they don't get a bat and they feel like
they do need to make their offense and their defense
a little bit better, they do have the options to
(04:44):
move guys around to stronger defensive positions.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Dave, what can you tell us about the return of
some of the pitchers. I understand Blake Snell had a
pretty good out in the other day as well as trying.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah, Snell pitched yesterday in Sacramento for Oklahoma City. I
would venture to say he'll be back in the Dodger
rotation by the end of this month, maybe as soon
as this next upcoming road trip. So the pitching is
getting healthy. They're going to have Glass now and Snell
and Otani in their rotation when August comes around. Now,
(05:20):
they just got to get their position players healthy. Freddie
going out being hit by a pitch yesterday, X Race
came back negative, so that was a good thing. Max
Munsey is going to go out on a rehab assignment.
I'm not sure about Tik and his shoulder. But they
need to get Munsey healthy and back in the lineup.
And you got to get Mookie and Freddie back on track.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
So as we get close to the trade deadline. I
know you said they needed a hitter. We agreed. Dave
Roberts said it's a reliever, or I should say, Andrew Friedman,
do you think they'll make moves at the trade deadline?
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Dave, without a doubt they're going to make I could
see them making multiple moves to make their team better,
and they have the capital to be able to do that.
They're going to go after a right handed, high leverage reliever.
Andrew Friedman told Petrus some money that the day that
Evan Phillips was lost for the year, and I could
(06:13):
see them going after maybe two of those type of pictures,
and possibly, if the price is right, go after an
outfield bat. So the Twins are in town. Joan Duran,
their closer has been discussed. Mason Miller of the A's
is on the table, Ryan Helsley from the Cardinals, David
Bednar the Pirates. All those guys are definitely in play.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
That being said, Dave, how long do they keep trotting
Tanner Scott out there?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Well, see, if you acquire a guy like I mentioned,
you can move Tanner Scott into more versatile relief role
where he has more favorable matchups. And I know that's
hard to believe considering the contract that he signed, but
that's the reality of this season. So you sign a
lockdown type of ninth inning guy, and all of a sudden,
(07:08):
you make Tenor Scott the guy he was for the
Padres last year and really tough on a string of
lefties in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Gay final question, and then we'll let you go. I
had this idea earlier. You remember when Tommy Lasorda, when
the team was struggling, picked a batting Ordorado the hat.
Remember that, wouldn't that be fun if the Dodgers did
that tonight?
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Not really, that's my boy.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
That's my boy, Dad, that's my boy. I told him
it was the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, was that the year the Dodgers lost ninety nine
games and ninety two fred when Tommy was picking names
out of the hat?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
No, No, I don't think it was that bad that year. No.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Oh, maybe it was eighty seven when they lost ninety
or eighty six.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
All right, all thank you for coming on. Really appreciate
good job.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
Hey, no worries Rodney right on day, right on, baby.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
All right, we still have a pair of tickets to
give away for the game tomorrow night. We will do
that between now and three o'clock and when we come back,
let's talk more Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (08:22):

easy way to listen to LA's best sports talk.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Oh yeah, come on many thanks to our man David Vassy,
always bringing the knowledge and the troop, Fred and the truth.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Rodny P. Fred Rogan five seventy on a beautiful, beautiful
Monday in mid July. I think Dodger fans are feeling
right now, Rodney. I think they're a little on edge. Fred.
You could feel it. You know, I wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
I wouldn't at the games this weekend, but you could
kind of feel the grumbling in in the uh in
the stands and just you know, hearing the sounds of
the game when things started to go bad. It it
was the opposite. We talked about this earlier of the
feeling when the Dodgers were behind earlier in the season,
when they started off the season, it just didn't matter.
(09:23):
You never got nervous, you never got worried. Because you
felt at some point bats were going to get going
and and and they were going to come back and
in the bullpen was going to come in and shut
it down. And and now I think most fans are
feeling the opposite, like, no lead is it's safe. Even
if the Dodgers are up three to nothing or five
to nothing or whatever it may be, they found a
(09:45):
way to kind of crumble and in the later innings.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
And so.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
It's really indicative and in that Milwaukee series, because there
were times where the Dodgers would come back, they'd tie
it up or take the lead, and right after that,
Milwaukee would come back and take the lead back. And
there were a lot of seesaw. I mean, they scored
runs in this series, just just obviously not enough. And
it just didn't feel like the like the Dodgers, like
(10:12):
you said, had that that killer closer instinct like they
had in early in the season, and I think the
fans feel it.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
I think that the great reason the Dodgers are successful
is also the thing that is so incredibly annoying when
you watch them and they're not winning. They are so
even keeled, they are so business Like I've said this
many times when you see the Padres play. They look
like a bunch of guys that show up the ballpark
(10:39):
and are just gonna go out and do it. Whatever happens.
These guys are showing up. They're gonna play the game
tonight and who knows what's gonna go on. The Dodgers
look like a bunch of guys that show up at
nine am every day, carrying their briefcase and showing up
for work, very businesslike, very business like. They know the goal,
they know how to accomplish the goal. They are prepared.
(11:03):
Then they go to work. Yes, if something happens, are happy,
but then they go hope. The Dodgers are are very
business like, very corporate in how they approach things. And
I'm not saying it in a bad way, but that's
the impression I get. So when they don't win, because
(11:24):
they are so even keeled, right, they really are, And
in baseball that's the most important thing I think in
pro sports period, but certainly a season as long as
baseball even keeled. Because they are even keeled, You go, God,
these guys sing down. There's not a lot of fun,
there's not a lot of emotion. They just they're just
(11:46):
doing it. I think it's a function of how they
They just operate and that's why they ultimately win, because
they don't get too down, they don't get too up.
They celebrate when they can't, but they just keep moving forward.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yeah, and that's I think you have to you that
way in a long season, especially baseball, a long season
like like it is, because there will be ups and downs.
And you're right, a younger team or a team that
just is so on edge and holding onto every single
thing you mentioned the Padres, when it's going good for
the Padre, they hard to beat. They are hard to
(12:18):
beat when things are all going right for them because
they get so high and so amped up. But in
the same sense, when they get on a losing streak,
they will start to hang their heads. They'll start to
be some infighting, they'll start to be some confusion and
some concerns, and they will wear it. You'll see it
on their faces and their actions. And you're right. The
(12:39):
Dodgers are a different way. When lose a drawl, they're
gonna be they're they're they're gonna be even keeled. Although
I will say Fred in this stretch right now, it
feels like the little frustration is seeping in with with
with a lot of them. Yeah, but how does that
manifest itself? I mean yes, I mean I have to
(13:01):
tell you.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
With Mouki for example, all due respect to Mouki, and
I said this a couple of weeks ago, the struggles
he was having, and it looked like he was gonna
go up there every time and change it every time.
This will be the at bat. So he sent the
first pitch of making out. Watching it, it was like,
I thought, well, how fast does he want to get
(13:22):
back to the bench. I mean, my god, he's up there, bam,
swing snow because it wasn't falling right. He wasn't getting
a hit, and he was pressing and pressing to get
a hit. And you watched that and you went, Moki,
take a pitch, Mouki, relax, it's just not working right now.
(13:44):
But it was that kind of thing. It's that kind
of thing. The defensive mistake by Paez Bias got an arm.
I'm not saying he's Roberto Clemetti, but he can throw.
You know, he does know how to play defense. Where
does that come from? How's that happening now? How's he
making that mistake? Tommy Edmund how's he making a mistake
(14:05):
like that? I mean, how this is just not the
way they play. It is the way they're playing, but
this isn't indicative of who they are.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Never has been, no right, And it sometimes happens when
it's like because it's not just one guy, it's the
whole team that's struggling. And oftentimes, and especially in the past,
when you know, the top of the lineup wasn't hitting,
the bottom of the lineup was hitting, or the middle
of the lineup was hitting and carrying them, or the
top of the you know, you could usually count on
(14:35):
the top three or four guys to kind of one
of those guys are going to still be hot. Now
it's up and down that lineup and it and it,
and it just feels like every guy is feeling like
I'm going to make the big player, the spectacular play
to change things or to turn things around, and oftentimes
that you turn into pressing or trying to do too much.
(14:57):
And I think that that, you know, David Vassi said
that about Mookie, he's just trying a little bit too
hard to turn things around. That it's that it's not
working and it's probably making it worse and maybe he
needs to step back and not be in the cage
for four hours before the game trying to work on things.
Just let it happen and step away for him for
(15:18):
a minute. And they gave him a day off the
other day and then change him and put him at leadoff,
which I think is going to help. But you get
into that I need to make every play. I'm the
guy who's gonna turn it around. And then you start
to make even more mistakes because you're thinking you try
to do too much instead of just do your job.
Do your job. If you just do your job, everything's
(15:39):
gonna be okay.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
And that's why my idea makes all the sense in
the world that has now been ridiculed by every person
I brought it up to. That's why my idea does
make sense. And I don't understand why nobody will embrace this.
If you're supposed to have fun and change things around
and just try to shake it up for one night,
then why in the world wouldn't you picked the lineup
(16:04):
out of a hat, let the chips fall where they
may just go for it. Who cares?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Like one game they said it was probably one of
those years the Dodgers lost ninety games, Fred, why don't think.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Wester he didn't need to say that, you know, I
don't need him being such a bounce as it was
over anyway, So Tommy said, I'm gonna pick this one
out of a hat. I don't. I don't think it's
not I think Joe Madden did it. Kevin at one
point with the Angels. I think he picked him out
of a house.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
It probably just seems like he did because they were
so bad, So that's probably one of.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
No I think he did. I do, But why not
just do something entirely different to get out of this funk?
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Why did you shake him? Because you don't need to, Fred,
You're still in first place. You know you are doing
some things. You changed some things around Mooki's leading off down.
Let that happen. Let that marinate for a little bit,
you know, Let let let it see how and maybe
that can change Mookie. Maybe he's gonna get better pitches
and better pitches to hit, and you know they're gonna
(17:03):
be afraid of Otani behind him, so he will get
those pitches. So you know, let that happen, and you
know you're gonna start to get some guys back. You
know when he mentioned that that rotation of what they
have now and you're adding, you know, glass nails back
now and and uh Blake Snell and Otani in the
rotation now be pretty good. It's gonna be pretty good.
(17:28):
And they're gonna need those guys to to get deep
in games to take that pressure off the bullpen. Yeah,
but and I I do understand. And that's not panic,
Fred stopping you started the show said you're not paniced,
you're not in the red and that's a panic move.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
No, it's not. It's fun. It's fun move right. It's
like you know what recess is to.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
This is not the Beer League on Sunday nights, Fred,
this is this Major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Come on, all right, Oh, Tani's gonna pitch tonight, so
he'll go three four innings and then it'll be dustin May.
That's the plan tonight. So you got Otani pitching, why
you're rushing him up second? Let him at clean up tonight,
give him some time.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Not what you said. You're picking out of a hat
so he could possibly hit eighth.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Okay, yeah, pick out of a hat, but we just
have to take number one out. He can't he can't
hit lead off right. We don't want him to do
that when he pitches it home, So we'll just pull
when he picks. There's no number one in there. Boom,
oh I'm hitting third. There you go. See, that'll be fun.
Guys will be rooting for each other. I didn't say
(18:42):
picked the lineup out of a hat, like who's playing
in the game. I didn't say that, you know. I
didn't say like Kim is gonna catch tonight. I didn't
do that.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
No, No, you just open yourself up with so much
bad you know what can happen. You get that tie game,
ty game, tie game, and in the in the ninth,
bottom of the ninth where normally you would have you know,
Mookie O Tawani Ti Oscar, Will Smith coming up, and
(19:16):
and you don't, and you don't, and and you look
at a chance that you you could have won that
game with one of those guys, one of those guys
that have done it many many times, and you don't
have your best players in the position to win the
game for you. It's like picking out of a hat,
who's gonna take the last shot at the end of games.
Imagine telling that to Michael Jordan.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
See. But that's Michael. We're gonna pick it out of
a hat. We're gonna pick it out of a hat.
Good time. We're gonna Oh, Rodman, you got this last
shot spot up up in the corner. We go get
the ball to you. Baby. Just getting ready. We don't
expect anybody to be guarding you anyway, so just be
ready shooting position. Yeah, yeah, launch it. Oh my god,
(20:06):
I tell you that would change the dynamic of all
these games. The only people that would hit it would
be gamblers. Fans would love it. They would love it, fans.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Would you think fans would love that, Brett, I don't
think so. Oh, today is the hat game. Yes, you's
gonna pick the lineup out of the hat.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
You know what, we don't have time, but if we
open the phone lines, I guarantee you people will tell you.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
I want to see that. How many percentage wise would
say that? How many percentage wise would be on your
side or against you? I'm saying ninety five to five,
all right, and you're crazy. It's it's nine eighty seven
two five seventy. Just call now if you want to
just weigh in. Would you like to see the lineup
picked out of a hat tonight. Would that be fun?
(20:56):
And we'll take like five calls and then we'll see
the percentage. You're saying ninety five percent. So you're saying,
out of five calls, four people are going to say
you're crazy. Okay, four out of five will say that,
and I'm betting you more.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
So I'm saying three out of five we'll say it's
a good idea. Okay. I mean, I wasn't gonna do
this and embarrass you. You can't text your family to
call in right now either, Fred, they don't talk to me.
It doesn't matter. I can't. Am I gonna text If
I texted my family and go who are you? I
don't have your name in my phone, so I can't
(21:34):
text them. He tix six ninety seven two five seventy.
If anybody calls, we're going to do this. Oh, we
have some coming in.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
We have calls coming in.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
All right, good, those calls come in, and then out
of those calls, we're going to give the Dodger tickets too.
So call if you want to be a part of this.
Speaker 4 (21:54):

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Oh yeah, welcome back, Rodney Pete, Fred Rogan in a
beautiful Monday. Now, Kevin, I know you're going to screen
these calls, but uh, I'm going to make sure that
they are not all bots that Fred put in place
to agree with him.
Speaker 7 (22:31):
Some of them, I'm not so sure Rodney, to be honest,
So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
All right. So the concept here is this, you're saying
ninety five percent of these calls, we'll think my idea
is ridiculous. Correct, Yes, yes, and that wholeheartedly. If you're
just jumping on, here's the idea. I think the Dodgers
are obviously in an offensive slump. They're in a funk.
They don't look like they're having much fun. So tonight
(22:56):
they should just pick the batting order out of a
hat let fall the way it does. Rodney, Kevin, Ronnie,
David Vasse think that is the stupidest thing. They've ever
heard in their life, and probably somebody in the hall
that I don't even know. But I think it's a
good idea. Now let's find out what you think. Archie
(23:16):
and Downey. I'm sorry, Arlene, Arlene and Downey Arlene go ahead.
Speaker 8 (23:22):
Yes, Hi, how are you good?
Speaker 9 (23:24):
Good?
Speaker 10 (23:25):
Fred?
Speaker 9 (23:26):
I think that you completely wrong.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
I agree with Rogan here.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Yes, we're not the Savanna bananas.
Speaker 8 (23:35):
Yes, we might need some fun here then we need
to find the fun again, but we definitely don't need
to go that far.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
I mean, I'm not suggesting they go. I'm not the
Savannah bananas. Fred, as you said, I'm not saying go
break dance. I'm not saying right a mule in from
the bullpen. But what I am saying is all right, Arlene,
you voted no, Okay, thank you, Arlene, thank you for listening.
It's verry nice, very good one. No, I'm keeping count
right here. Look you can see it on this paper.
(24:02):
I'm keeping going Chris in l A. Chris, what do
you think.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
You know?
Speaker 8 (24:08):
Fred?
Speaker 11 (24:08):
I have to say, when you first said it, I thought,
like Rodney and David As, I thought it was the
most ridiculous, crazy idea I've ever heard for a competitive
from a competitive standpoint, and I still think it's crazy.
But Bred, you're crazy like the fox, because once you
said that game, you got me with the hat game
(24:28):
for entertainment purposes. I would I would love to see
if Will Smith might end up batting leadoffs or or
show hands the battie knife.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
You know.
Speaker 10 (24:37):
So from that standpoint, I'm with you on that, But
from a competitive standpoint, now, ridiculous. You want me over
with the entertainment aspects.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
All right, thank you, thank you, Chris. I appreciate it.
I don't know. He said it was ridiculous as well,
but he said the last thing he said is from
a serious strategic point is ridiculous. Well it's good for point, Yeah,
it's good. Yeah, it's fun. But he said it was ridiculous.
He said no, he said he was with me, Kevin,
that's one for me, right, he said he was with me. Technically, yes,
(25:13):
I'm taking it. I don't care, all right, uh, Jason
saying I don't know why we have to bring him
on next? All right, Jason and down, go ahead.
Speaker 10 (25:22):
Jason, Hey, Freddy, I think you're better off giving them
The motivational speech.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
Of Little Owen I mean, these guys need a kickstart,
and if they hear that story, I think they're better off.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Then you're crazy, little Owen. Nothing like little Owen to
get you going.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
You know, we'll get them going.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Man, stay in the line, Jason, Kevin, give him the tickets. Jason,
you're going to the game tomorrow night. All right, tailor
and asked uh to ask her nadd's bobblehead night. You're
gonna go to the game. Okay, all right, good Jason
got the tickets. All right, let's go Andrew in Riverside.
Riverside is close to the Coachella Valley, so he's gonna
love the idea just by proximity of distance. All right, Andrew,
(26:09):
what do you think of the idea?
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Marry Fred, Hey, Robbie, I was kindly gonna disagree, but
as soon as you gave that other guy the tickets,
I'm gonna really disagree with you now and say that's
a really terrible idea for that's what you need to
take that back out through the desert.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
That's so rude, Thank you very much. That's so rude
that you based your decision on. I gave the tickets
to Jason very well. Done very well. Just see, that's
just dogging me out. That's not right. All right, Now,
let's go to somebody who really gets it. Tony and
Santa Clarita. I say, Tony, and Tony's a guy that
(26:49):
gets it.
Speaker 12 (26:49):
Go ahead, Tony fred I kind of agree with you.
But I think instead of doing the left right, left
right in the batting order, if it's a right handed picture,
they need to stack as many left handed hitters all
in a row and pick him out of a hat.
It's like, just just make the picture have to face
like five left handers in a row, not just like,
oh I get the picture the left handed now, but
(27:09):
next one's right handed.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Make it.
Speaker 12 (27:11):
You're making it too easy for the right handed pitcher.
Then you stack as many opposing hitters to the pitcher
as possible, all in a row, and stop doing the
alternate thing.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Okay, so but you you you would have.
Speaker 12 (27:22):
That out of a hat, right, Yeah, you get all
the left handed hitters and you pick him out of
a hat, and then whoever is it they go first?
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Now with you, That's exactly what I said. I will
not playing. Will Split's not playing A mookie's not playing.
Speaker 12 (27:38):
Not playing when the other team throws to the bulletpen.
When the other team goes to the bullpen, then you
start changing the order again.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
See this is this is the kind that's not the
concept that you threw out there. Fred, all right, do
you agree you don't get to pick.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
You don't get to pick righty, lefty, righty lefty unless
you want to take all those guys out of the
lineup and pick out of hat so you have all lefties,
then you can do that if you don't get to
pick right he, lefty, right he lefty.
Speaker 12 (28:02):
All right, tell me that's the way they have it now.
It's all right, left right, left or left right?
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Pick him out of the hat, Tony, Tony, do you
agree with me? Yes or no? Yes? Done? Thank you
writing Tony down right now. Okay, Saint Paul in Oceanside,
he's a baseball man, and a baseball man understands. Go ahead, Paul,
the friends.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
Great idea. I think this time of the year, you know,
have some fun. I think Mookie's not the only guy
that's pressing, and it might be good for overall morale
to just say, hey, you guys, let's let's have a
good time, and yeah, yeah, pick him out of the
hat for the batting order.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Why not there it is. Thank you, Paul, you can
shake your head. Kevin, you can do the same thing.
I am. I didn't need you to respond there. But
the point is this. The people are speaking, and maybe
it's time that you guys listened to the people because
(29:04):
they get it, just like Uriel and Long Beach. All right, Uriel,
what do you think, gentlemen?
Speaker 13 (29:13):
I am a fan and I am entertained by the idea,
and I want to further the idea. Think about three
games out of a year. One game you pick out
of a hat. Second game, a lucky fan does the order.
The third game you do the lineup and reverse. I'm
a fan and I'm entertained, Uriel.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Thank you? All right, Rodney, before we finish, what would
you like to say before we can?
Speaker 3 (29:39):
I am absolutely speakless that even one person agree with you, friend.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
I don't know what to say. All right.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Well, like I said, they might be bots, I don't know,
but it just doesn't make sense that anybody would agree
with this idiotic idea.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Okay, well you know what. Let's see what Robert thinks.
Robert l'habra, go ahead, Robert, Hello, Robert, Hello, Hello, Hello Robert, Robert.
Speaker 10 (30:14):
You not Robert?
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Who's is?
Speaker 8 (30:17):
This?
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Is?
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Ray?
Speaker 9 (30:18):
Not Robert? Sorry about.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Go ahead?
Speaker 8 (30:24):
Ray?
Speaker 9 (30:25):
You know what, I agree with you because right now
they're not doing anything anyway. And I would go step further.
I would start all the young guys for a couple
of games and have the big the Big three, the
Big four watch the game on the sidelines and soak
it up and feel their energy of the young guys.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
There you go, all right, thanks Ray Covin. Is Jim
still there? Do we skip him?
Speaker 7 (30:50):
There's no Jim. We have Jesse and Norwalk and Sarkias
and Santa Clarita. Those are our last two.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Are the two? Jesse, Jesse, what do you think?
Speaker 8 (30:57):
Hello?
Speaker 1 (30:59):
Hello?
Speaker 9 (30:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (31:00):
This kiss?
Speaker 5 (31:00):
Yeah, this kiss? I agree with Fritt.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Perfect, perfect, Thank you, Jesse. I appreciate your call. Have
a great day, have a blessed day. Let this be
the best day of your life. See I share positive
affirmation to the people that I respect. Oh, and I
certainly respected Jesse. And now for our final vote, it'll
(31:27):
be one, two, three. We will have taken ten votes.
Circus will wrap it up.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Go ahead, sarcus, Fred, I think the desert heat is
finally getting to you.
Speaker 8 (31:38):
This is going down as the top five craziest things
you ever said.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
That's pretty much it.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Thank you very much for bringing us back to reality.
Thank you very much. All Right, sorry we got circus.
Thank you, Sarcus, really appreciate it. You have a good
day as well. Okay, So the concept was pick the
batting order out of a hat. Everybody thought I was insane.
Rodney by definition said, whatever number of calls we took,
(32:06):
and we took ten, ninety five percent of them would
think I was nuts. So what number out of ten
would be ninety five percent? Be nine and a half, right,
at least nine yes, red.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
Yes, at least nine is ackerate, yes, at least that.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Would be ninety ninety would be yeah. Nine. But he
said ninety five percent, so be ninety and a half,
nine and a half. So we'll just make it ninety percent. Okay,
So here we go. Of the no votes, no meaning
I'm insane, don't do it. There were four Arlene, Jason,
(32:48):
Andrew and Sarcus. Of the yes votes that said it
was good, Chris, Tony, Paul Yuriel, Ray Jesse. And there
it is two, four, six, six to four. Sixty percent
think it was a good idea, and there it is.
I know we do this all the time, and you
guys think, now you're nuts. Nobody will go for it.
(33:11):
I am telling you. I'm telling you. My idea is,
like in a tie baseball game, home run derby, that
would be great to break the tie. My idea about
you don't get to you like the All Star breaking
the tie the way they did it. Yeah, so you
would do away with the runner on second base for
any period of time. Just if it's tied at the
(33:33):
end of nine, Let's go to three players from east side,
three swings, three pitches or whatever, three swings and call
it a day. Right, let's get out of here. Good.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
Now, was you extend this to the postseason?
Speaker 9 (33:45):
Two?
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (33:46):
Me?
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Of course, I would explain coy, but no, nobody would
want that. And my other idea, which I still think
is the best one, granted, it cannot happen in American sports.
In the draft, the team that does the best gets
highest pick, not the team that does the worst. And
lowest three teams, so you're finally you know you've got
(34:08):
the three worst records. You get relegated to the minors.
So like the Toledo mud Hens get called up if
they had a better minor league record, and they get
to play in the majors next year. You get relegated,
you don't get you got to go play and got
to go play in a triple A stadium in Toledo.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
That's right, kind of like what the A's are doing. Now,
that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
That's what that's what you have to do, and you
have to win in Triple A to come back to
the majors in the NBA, if you're garbage and you
don't win, and you've cheated your fans who've spent money
to watch you be terrible, you get relegated to the
G League. You have to play there, and you get
to come back if you win the G League. That's
(34:47):
how you have to do it. That's another idea that's
ahead of its time, but that's really the only way
to control teams losing during the regular season and cheating
fans out of their money who spend their harder money
and go and watch the club. Get their brain speed in. Yes,
who said we should have robot umpires me? And now,
(35:09):
look you know what, I am a visionary. I see
the future and you know what our future is to
get off the air. We're out of time right now,
We're done, Ronnie. Thank you, Kevin Hey, great job today
despite the fact the majority of people like my idea
(35:30):
and they didn't like yours. Kevin, so thank you.
Speaker 7 (35:32):
No one's perfect, fret, just me Rodney, Ronnie and I
say that's all.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Yeah, Rodney, see them, abe them
