Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, let's do it two hours today, Fred Rugan
Rodney Pete on a five seventy LA Sports, And it
doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you
get there. It's all about the journey, as Phil Jackson
would say. And for the Dodgers, step one of this
year's journey is complete. They have captured again the National
League West. Remember what I said at the beginning of

(00:21):
the year, Rodney, doesn't matter how many games you win,
just get into the tournament. Sure they would like to
be number two and get that first round, by didn't
work out that way. So now the real work begins.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
How do you?

Speaker 3 (00:35):

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Wait, so okay, so you said it doesn't matter how
many games you win, and then you said, well, they
like to not have to be the wildcard team. So
technically it does matter how many games you win, and
it also matters how you play going into the playoffs. Correct,
how could do that? Although they, you know, the last

(01:28):
two games against Arizona has been good, I think that
they have I think found a little something and maybe
it is, Hey, we're getting closer to the playoffs. Let's
get this regular season over with. You know, there's no
pressure to win one hundred and x amount of games anymore.
Let's just get to the playoffs. That's what we're gonna do.
And and they're starting to feel that a little bit.

(01:49):
And you know what happens. It happens like that in
sports sometimes is that you you you know you're gonna
get there. You know you're gonna get to the playoffs,
and you just gear up for that. And mentally, sometimes
there comes a thing called mental fatigue during the season
and and maybe they struggled with that a little bit,
especially the last month. But I gotta tell you, they

(02:10):
are playing like everybody thought they were gonna play all
year long right now. And we'll see in this Mariner series.
But I don't really look at this series as as
something that I can lay my hat on because there's
nothing really to play for, right, So they're they're already
in and they're already their situation is already solidified. Same

(02:33):
with the Mariner. So really it's not a whole lot
for them to play for. So this is not going
to be any kind of measuring stick. It's just get
the seasons overhealthy and let's get going. I loved I
tell you what you know, and I Blake Snell's my man.
I love Snell Zilla, and he's finding himself, he's getting
into a groove. But yeah, I'm a moto. Yeah, I'm

(02:54):
a moto. Over his last five starts, however, it's been
he has been almost unhittable, Fred, unhittable. He has been unbelievable.
And you know, we don't talk about him enough because
of some of the other things going on. But man,
every time he's gone out and unfortunately they haven't gotten

(03:14):
him any run support. That has not happened for him.
And well and they did the other day obviously, but
he has pitched his ass off and I'm telling you
that pitching staff it is dangerous. I think they put
everybody on notice right now. Fred is hey, here, we come,

(03:35):
here we come. We're getting we're healthy. Now here we come.
And then they threw Suzaki out there as we'll talk
about your guy. Did he look good?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
So here's the deal for them to win the World Series. Now, okay,
we're through the regular season. Basically we're done. So now
we're got to worry about the playoffs. And for them
to win going into the playoffs, say, well, the best
pitching done done, best starting pitching, that's what you want.
You've got it. They got a bullpen that gives you anxiety.

(04:09):
And it's a crapshoot that they hit. Now they've been
hitting of late. So let's say, and by the way,
don't dismiss what they did against Arizona, because you know,
if Arizona had beaten the Dodgers, swipt that series, Arizona's
in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Arizonas in the playoffs. They had everything to play for.
So don't think they're em or they were just not playing.
You know, it was getting ready to get the season over. No,
they had everything to play for. Yeah, do not dismiss
that went over Arizona. So now if the Dodgers continue
to hit and the starting pitching continues, the way it is,
they're gonna win the World Series.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
It's pretty simple. That's kind of how it's laid out.
The wild card is the bullpen. So now let's talk
about it. Let's not talk about what happened yesterday Tanner
Scotland and their up eate nothing. You didn't give up
a run. What are we gonna have a f eight?
Oh this is great. You're up like eight nothing and
the guy didn't give up a run. There's no parade

(05:01):
just because he gets three guys out. We're not going
to celebrate. That doesn't change one thing. You can't put
him in the game when it matters.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
So there's that is that like you know, a garbage
time and in other sports where you know you're you're
scoring fifteen points in the fourth quarter against the backups
at the end of the bench.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Right, I mean right, you're up, you're you're up twenty
points and you get to play six minutes in the
game and there you go off and everybody goes, shit,
my god, this guy should play more. No, he scored
twenty points against that, So let's just everybody relax. Their
number two the other night when they went in extra innings.

(05:38):
Here's my question, to you. Here's my question. When Sazaki
comes out of the bullpen, and now you see him pitching,
you know, my first thought, honest to god, was does
he have any control?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Because that's what I said, and I can't walk that back. Yes,
and we talked about that. I said, I like him
coming out of the bullpen. He said, Now he's a radic.
He needs to be a starter or he's all over
the place. How can you bring him out of the bullpen? Done?
Now go okay.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
So he comes out and he is money. He is money,
and I'm thinking, good, maybe they're going to do my plan.
Maybe they'll bring him in and he'll pitch three innings
and we'll get out of here. Don't even mess with it.

(06:23):
He didn't throw a lot of pitches. He looked good.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Wait, wait, you're saying bring him in into seventh. He
let him go to seventh, eighth, and ninth. Yeah, let
him go. Let him go.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
We're not gonna go to the bullpen. Let him go.
That's my thought. He comes in, he looks great. I'm thinking, Okay,
they're gonna run right back out here and you're gonna
see him and he's gonna mow him down. No, no, no,
they take him out after one inning. They go back
to the bullpen. Boom, the game is tied. The game

(06:56):
is tied. Yeah, it's like, why he was a starting pitcher.
He didn't throw that many pitches. Just let him go. No,
back to the bullpen. Okay, well, now you got a problem,
don't you. Now you're tired. They bring in Clayton Kershaw.
Clayton Kershaw comes in. Dam he gets out of it. Nope, done,

(07:21):
he does it. And I'm thinking, this is great, We're
headed to extras. Bring him back out there. He's not
like you to one hundred and twelve pitches. Bring him
back out, keep him off the board. Let's get the
hell out of here. No, he takes them out. He
brings in Trying who nearly gives everybody a coronary and

(07:45):
gets out of a basis loaded situation that he manufactured.
And I'm sitting there thinking to myself. Sazaki goes in
and looks great, we'll take him out after an inning.
Why why he's a starting pitcher? Why Kershaw goes out there?
Now that would be a scheduled bullpen day for Clayton

(08:06):
when he went into relief. And I don't know how
many pitches he throws during the scheduled bullpen. He takes
him out again?

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Why, it's like, it's like you're it's like an arson
squad when the other guys go out there. That game
against Arizona that went to extra innings, good lord, and
it was the bullpen guys. I know you got to
use them there there. I'm aware, and I know.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That you've got to trust and have faith, got that too,
But my god, Sazaki looks great. Take him out? What
are you saving him for?

Speaker 4 (08:50):
What?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
He throws one inning? What are you saving him for?
I don't know what you're saving him for? Kershaw, you
pitch this weekend?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Saving him for Tuesday? Who'd you saving him for?

Speaker 4 (09:01):
So?

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay, he throws one inning? Yes, and now we'll see
you on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Now we'll see you tuesday.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah, how about three innings? And guess what we'll see
you tuesday. We'll see on Tuesday. I know you're looking
your chops for it. I know you wanted to see
more of them, you know, I did, Rodney.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I know, and I know and I think that. But
it definitely will be a different philosophy once a playoff starts.
UH guarantee I don't think, you know, and in a
one run game, if they bring in Sazaki and he's
lights out for that inning, that they automatically take him
out and bring in somebody from the bullpen in a
one run game, I don't. I don't think that happens.

(09:42):
And you know, Kershaw's the one that's the interesting one,
you know, I don't. You're saying, let him, let him
go two innings. It's fine, we're not asking you to
go nine, Okay, three, three, you're letting them go.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
I might let him go through depending on how he
looked in the first two. I mean, now, if he's tired,
if he's getting beat up, no, but but not let
not let him face guys twice, even if he comes
out of the pen. So if you bring him in
the sixth, you're not letting him finish the game. Oh
if I bring him to the sick, I bring him
and he's resting, Yeah, Oh he's going, he's going.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
He's going. Okay, that lineup turns over in the ninth,
he's going, he's going.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
He's going. Okay, I got more faith in him. He's going.
You know what, A winner lose with him, A winner
lose with him.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
He's got that. Not buy that given given what the
bullpen has showing us. Yeah, yeah, it can't get worse. No, no.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
And you know it's interesting because the Dodgers obviously starting
the wild card, and the wild card came around some
years ago. And now you figure, Okay, well who do
we have to hear ready for in this first round?
We don't know. We don't know who to get ready for.
It'll be determined this weekend the big money Mets or
the little itty bitty money Reds, because that's kind of

(11:13):
how it's going to shake out. I think the Reds
are a half game back, so it's going to be
the Mets or the Reds. And when you talk about
the playoffs in baseball, and everybody at the beginning was upset.
Stop expanding the playoffs. Stop it. It needs the regular
season appear to be nothing. It's not worth a thing, really, Okay,

(11:36):
So I think back in July, the Tigers were like
nineteen games up. Right now, they're a half game in,
a half game in, and if the playoffs weren't expanded,
they're not in. Think about that. There was a time
this summer we thought that Detroit Tigers were the best

(11:56):
team in baseball bar none, and they were bar none.
It wasn't close. They are clinging to life. They're on
a respirator right now, hoping against hope that they can
hang on. But that's what the wild card gives you.
It gives you more drama near the end.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Of the season.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
I like.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
And they used to do that wildcard too. It was
a one game, a one game remember that? Yeah, did
you like that? No? No, God, was a terrible idea
that they did that, right, That.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Was a Bud selig era, I believe.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah, that was that was That was terrible because anything
can happen one game, three games. You know, you gotta
win too, so you're gonna have an off night, but
you can't have two off nights, which is fine. But yeah,
the one game thing is is terrible. But you're right
about Detroit. They were the best team in baseball. Now
they let Cleveland get back into it. And it's surprising

(12:57):
that that the the Yankee and the Blue Jays are
because the Yankees were left for dead for for a
minute too. They were running away with the East. Then
they went into their slump and everybody said fire Aaron
Boone and they can't do anything, and now they're back
tied for the for the lead over there. Yeah, it's
a it's incredible. The one that's been the most consistent
has been Milwaukee since May, and they started off slow,

(13:20):
but since May, it's been Milwaukee. Let me ask you
this because you said, we're you know, we're waiting on
the matchups Cubs, not Cubs, but we're waiting on the
matchups between Cincinnati and the and the amazing money Mets, Right, Yeah,
who's gonna be and which the Dodgers should destroy either
one of those teams if they come to Dodger Stadium.

(13:41):
That matchup after that is the Dodgers will play Philly.
I know. Is that the World Series? Or do you
still do you still fear Milwaukee more than Philly because
I don't fear anybody on the American League side, really don't.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
I think Milwaukee gets knocked out. I think Milwaukee gets
knocked out by San Diego or the Cubs.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yep, I do.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
I think Milwaukee gets it. Had a hell of the year,
I mean, and you cannot deny the success they've had
this year, you can't. But I think it just becomes
too much for him. I think they get overwhelmed. I
think on the big stage under the brightest lights, they
can't close this year. You got to be there, you
got to go through it. And then if they have

(14:31):
a year like they had this year next year, yeah,
then they could win it all or be good enough
to win it all. But I don't think they're there.
And I think this, and we'll see, maybe i'll be
proven wrong. I think the Dodgers beat the Phillies and
handle them pretty easily. And I know, I know that

(14:52):
makes no sense. I ask you to think back to
the recent series at Dodger Stadium. Granted they didn't have
Bom and they didn't have Trey Turner got acknowledge, but
let's think for a minute. Against the Phillies in that series,
the Dodgers hit, Yeah, they did. The Dodgers hit. So
the same guys they hit in that series are the

(15:12):
same guys they're going to be pitching against them in
the playoffs. So mentally they know they can hit them
all right, and the Phillies have good pitching, the Dodgers
can hit them. Now do the Dodgers have better hitting
pitching than the Phillies?

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Yes, Okay, so the Dodgers have better pitching, and the
Dodgers know because they just did it, they can hit
the Phillies, and I know it'll be a difficult series.
And really the Phillies are the team to worry about.
Everybody said that at the beginning of the year. So
there's nothing new here.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
But and if you talk and if you talk environments
of the teams that are less, obviously that that environment
down in San Diego's is incredible. Obviously, Dodgers Stadium is
second and nine, but that environment in Philly is a
tough one to go in there and play and get
wins out of that too, So it definitely can happen.
I do think the Dodgers at this point right now

(16:08):
are playing as good as baseball as they have and
matchup with the Phillies pretty good too. I don't think it.
I don't think. I don't it's not gonna be going away.
I think it's a I think it's a dogfight with
the Phillies, but I do think they beat them.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
So we've got the Rams taken on the Colts at
SOFI Sunday. We've got the Chargers heading to New York
to take on the Giants. We also have to talk
about the Raiders and that means we have to bring
in our good friend Vinnie bon signor many Good afternoon
to you.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
Good afternoon, gentlemen. How are we doing?

Speaker 1 (18:02):
We're doing well. You want to do the Raiders first?

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Wherever you guys want to go, I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Okay, Well, let's start with the most disappointing team of
last weekend, the Raiders. Yeah, they were bad, well, they
were bad in all fast to the game. So what
has happened this week?

Speaker 6 (18:17):
Yeah, you know, one of the things that as they
kind of self analyzed what happened in Washington, and they
have talked about this earlier in the week. But you know,
Pete Carroll, there was no pads, No, there was no hitting.
Last week. The Raiders were coming off a short week
playing the Chargers. The Commanders had had played, you know,
the Thursday before, so they had ten days. The Raiders

(18:39):
had a short week, and what they decided to do
was preserve legs, was not do anything physical during practice
last week, and it basically caught, you know, it cost them.
They felt like they weren't ready to play from a
physical standpoint against the Commanders, and that was pretty evident
in how they played. So it's been a very physical
week of practice. This week, the Raiders are trying to

(19:01):
get back into that mode and we'll see if it
works against a suddenly hot Chicago Bears team. Come in
with Caleb Williams, who played the best game of his
career by far over one, you know, forty two quarterback rating,
four touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks. Kind of lit up
Dallas Cowboys. Granted it was Dallas Cowboys. They're not playing
very good defense. A great yeah, but but I mean,

(19:25):
for for Caleb, you got to take it where you
can get it. And and he had a heck of
a football game, and you wonder if he's starting the corner,
ifisode the Raiders could be in a little bit of
trouble on Sunday at Toligias Stadium.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt. And then he talk about
Gino Smith, right, he's I think he struggled against the
against the Chargers at home? Is there? How was his psyche?
How was his play? What did they evaluate when they
look at him in these first three games?

Speaker 6 (19:56):
Yeah, I think, you know, two really good games in
spite of the score. You know, played his butt up
on Sunday against the Commanders, didn't get a whole lot
of help from the offensive line. He was running around
making plays. So he bounced back like you promised he would,
you know, he told us, look, you know, put this
at my feet, put it on my shoulders. I'm fine
with that. I'll be my own, you know, harshest critic.

(20:17):
And this isn't gonna happen again. Into his word, it
didn't happen again against the Commanders. So I think he's,
you know, pretty much somebody that you could be. You
could have a lot of confidence that. The question for
the Raiders obviously, is where's the offensive line and can
they you know, protect Gino Smith? And can they get
some running lanes for fashion genty? And I you know,

(20:38):
you feel like the Chicago Bears when we look at
this defense. They're the third worst rushing or the seventh
worst rushing defense in the NFL, second worst yards per carry,
that's on you know, five point five. They're not good
in scoring defense, for you know, the worst defense when
it comes to scoring defense, the third worst defense when
it comes to whole yard. So this is ripe for

(20:59):
the taking for the Raiders. But here's the thing, Rodney,
if you don't get it squared away, if you can't
run the ball against a team that gives up a
lot of yards rushing the ball or you know, in
run defense, where do you go from there? If you're
if you're the Raiders, like this should be a get
right game. But if it's more of the same that
we've seen, then that just opens up an even bigger

(21:19):
can of worms for the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah, and that's the scary part about you can't You
can't go into a game saying, oh, we should do
this against this team because they're terrible. Because every week
a team adjusts, the team does something different. I think
you got to be able to adjust. If you think
you can run the ball and he starts stacking the
box or they're playing to run, well, then you got
to adjust during the game. I don't think you get
get caught up into it, even though, like you mentioned,

(21:42):
they should be able to run the ball, but that's
the big if they should, so just you just got
to play it. I think this is a big game
for them and they should win the game against Chicago,
but Chicago's coming in flying high.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Yeah, it would be a you don't want to go
one in three. And this is an interesting game because
you know Tom Brady called the Bears game last week
against the Cowboys, so you know, it's it's it's kind
of raising those concerns about a conflict of interest. You know,
you got a chance to talk to some of the
players and Ben Johnson. It's funny because I think outside

(22:16):
of the NFL, this is a big deal. Within the
NFL when I talked to when I talk to people,
be coaches, it's like, we don't say anything in those
beatings anyway. So you know, if we're gonna if we're
gonna give anybody state secrets, let alone, you know, Tom
Tom Brady, that's on us, you know. Uh, and we
know what we're you know what we're going to reveal
and what we're not going to reveal. Uh, we're in

(22:36):
control of that. So within the league, it's not a
big deal.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
No, not at all, Not at all. And to a man,
I think everybody interviewed about that said is not a
big deal. It's no different than you know, someone else
who just retired from a team, Say Tony Romo is
doing a game. Yeah, I think he's loyal, loyal to
Dallas right to you know, he say, oh I heard
all these secrets I'm gonna call my friends in Dallas
let them know what they're thinking. It just it's so ridiculs.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Yeah, and I think I think from Thoma's respective, it's
kind of a you know, it's your question is integrity?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Can you not hear?

Speaker 2 (23:10):
What's that?

Speaker 6 (23:12):
You're you're kind of questioning his integrity because it's like,
you know, do you really think he's going to go
run to beat Carroll and give them secrets? I don't
you know that he knows what lane he needs to
be in. The NFL has made it clear that, you know,
with the restrictions that they put on him to guardrail
against that. And I don't think Tony Romo is going
to the Cowboys. I don't think anybody have played for

(23:35):
another team is going to another team. You know, as
a broadcaster is telling secrets on what they heard that
that's just kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
All right, let's talk rams. Matthew Stafford said his off
day in Philly. He compared it to a great shooter
in the NBA who had an off night, nothing to
worry about. So they play the Colts? Are the Colts
for real?

Speaker 6 (23:54):
Wow? That you know too? Two really good questions. Let's
take the first. You know, I think Matthew said efforts
been around the block. He's had bad games before, every
quarterback has. You look at his history. He usually bounces back.
So I wouldn't be necessarily worried about that. The Cults,
on the other hand, I don't know what Shane stich
Didn's done. And we talked about Shane being a little

(24:16):
bit on the hot seat. You know, through the first
three weeks of the season. You got to give him
a lot of credit for everything that he's gotten out
of Daniel Jones and the running game. It just really
looks good right now for the Colts and they're they're
playing good football. How long that lasts? This to me
is a great litmus test for them. They've played a
couple of bad teams and now they went out and
beat Denver on the road. I give him a lot

(24:38):
of credit for that. All the Broncos defense and bo
Nicks a little bit shaky to start the season, so
maybe they caught them at the right time. But this
is the first real team or the best team I
should say that that Shane and Daniel Jones and the
Colts are going to play. So if they can beat
the Rams, or be really competitive in that game. I
think every all the perceptions that we have about the

(25:00):
Adiel Jones and the and the and the Colts will
change for the better.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Yeah, all right, Chargers at the Giants, chance to go
four and all? What do you say?

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Am I wrong to kind of feel like this might
be a little bit of a trap game for the
for the Chargers now? Number one, good luck to uh,
you know, to Jackson Dart uh playing his first game
against arguably the best defense in the NFL. Right now,
that's a tall task and the boy they would just
corn him into the fire. But we've seen this before too,

(25:31):
where you know, he's just gonna go out there well
behind the ears and not have a care in the
world in terms of he's got the job. It sounds
like for the rest of the season they'll go play
with his hair on fire and try to live out
his dream right there in New York and maybe at
the expense of the of the Giants. So I don't
think that's going to happen. I think that the Chargers
will take care of business. But what they can't let

(25:53):
happen is give Jackson Dart in that offense a little
bit of momentum and have them believe in they're better
than what they probably are right now against a really
good team. And you never know when you give a
team life how far they can they can run with that.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yeah, but Bennie, don't the Chargers have to make a
statement right now? They're for real right now? I know,
I get it's a bit of a trap game, but
don't they have to really make that statement?

Speaker 6 (26:16):
I totally agree. In fact, I think they need to
give Jackson his welcome to the NFL, you know message,
over and over and over and in that game and
show everybody because look, you know, many eyes are going
to be on. It's still the Giants, it's still New York.
They've got this hot shot rookie quarterback from all myths,
one of the Lane Kiffen's you know protogas. Everybody wants

(26:39):
to see, all right, what's this kid all about? So
there's gonna be a lot of eyeballs on that if
the if the Chargers stub their toe, that'll send one message.
If they go out there and decisively beat them with
so many eyes watching, that's that's gonna be great for them.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
All right, Benny, great job, Really appreciate it. You have
a great weekend, all right?

Speaker 6 (26:58):
You too enjoyed the games?

Speaker 1 (27:03):
The Godfather ned Colletti joins us at one and then
at later in the one o'clock hour, the Lakers made
her decision. I guess on the surface, it all seems okay,
But if you dig a little deeper, why did they
do it?

Speaker 2 (27:16):
We'll try to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Make AM five seventy LA Sports a preset before you

Speaker 2 (27:36):
All Right, Today's Afternoon Delight, Let's played this song by
Mariah Carey. The star singer recruited her rumored boyfriend Anderson
Pack as a featured artist on this track that debuted
last night. When asked about our touchy feely relationship with
Pac in a recent interview with Gail Kaine, Carrie said,

(27:59):
he just grabs my hand. I don't know what he's doing.
Is something special? Again, Today's Afternoon Delight is play this
song by Mariah Carey.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Okay, uh, we need a winner for Fantasy Springs. Rodney
eight six six nine The Big Stay a fantasy springs.
Go out there, stay overnight, play golf, golf for two
overnight's day, gamble, have fun, dinner at palm, all that
good stuff. Let's go call her number six eight, six, six,

(28:44):
nine eighty seven, two, five seventy call her number six.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
All right, and now from the court to the court
room with Jacob m Ronnie.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Now we're weekly chat with our good friend Jacob and
ron Hello Jack.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Hello Fred, Hello Rodney, Hello Jacob.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (29:04):
I'm doing great? How are you guys doing?

Speaker 2 (29:06):
We're doing great, Jacob. I gotta ask you first because
you know our trojans ahead to go for and oh
at Illinois, I'm just letting you know, Okay, Kacky, what
troubles me though about this game. It's not that Illinois
was projected to be pretty good. They were top ten
to start the season and then got blown out by
Indiana last week, so it dropped him a little bit. Still,
I think a very good football team. You know, you

(29:27):
have days like that where it gets away from you.
But the nine am start, the nine am start, I
just I don't like it. Hate. I don't like the
way they can get away with a start at nine
am for a football game. Thank you, Wincoln Ry.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Yeah, yeah, I don't understand that either.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Because that's what he said too, that's exactly his position.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Yes, it's terrible, it's terrible.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Yeah, he says he was a little flabbergasted about that.
But yeah, you know, I think there's two things. Number One,
you know, last week's game against Indiana was supposed to
be a much closer game than it actually was. So
that concerns me a little bit because when you get
your butt kicked like that, you're coming out a lot
more aggressive the week after because you want to make

(30:21):
up for the stink that you made the week before.
And then nine o'clock in the morning not loving that.
But you know what, you're playing Big ten football, right.
You've had, you know, a couple of games. The road
is not getting easier, right. We got this game coming
with a good team. You got Michigan coming down the line.
I mean, listen, this is where you got to You

(30:41):
got to show what you are you want to be
in that conversation for that, you know, Spot, you got
to show that you're going to win. And you know,
we feel good about it, Rodney, come on, no, we.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Do, we do. I just don't like to start, you know,
and you know when you're on the road. One thing
that you always preach when you're playing on the road,
you gotta start fast. You want to start fast. You
got to get out of the gates, take the crowd
out of the game. And I just don't want the
guys to be havef asleep when the game starts and
then they show up in the second or third quarter.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
All right, nine am, Rodney, Rodney, nine am, Pacific.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Kick.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
What time do they have to get up Pacific? Yeah,
so it's it's a twelve o'clock start right for them. Yeah,
but I'm talking about the hard time.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Our time Midwest, that's two hours from now.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Doowns two hours So it's eleven o'clock start game start
at press local time for them, it's eleven o'clock start.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yes, nine am here.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
So you're asking what time the team has to get up. Yeah,
they're not waking up in LA for They're waking up
in Champions.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
But I'm just saying their clock is going to jush
that so their clock so so yes, it'll be a
for eleven o'clock. They would be probably up at six
eating eating pregame at seven and then on the buses
seven thirty eight. So you're saying five hours, five hours
before kick. Yeah, they're okay and going, Yeah, they're up.

(32:06):
So if you equate that to Pacific time, well just
keep them on Pacific time. It's a nine o'clock kick,
they've got to be up five hours before that. Yeah,
right now. So they're going to be getting up at
what for four o'clock in the morning Los Angeles time
that day.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's gonna be tough.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
Let me ask you this question. This is what I
wanted to ask you know. I know, for example, the
Rams when they go to an away game, Sean McVay
likes to leave on a Saturday yea, and likes to
come back Sunday night right after the game. He does
not believe in being in other towns. He doesn't believe
in being there for a long time. When does SC leave,
When does college or let's say, I see, when do

(32:51):
they leave for an away game? And how much time
do they have to get accustomed to the time zone.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Yeah, normally, I've been on I've been on both teams
that believe what you just said that, Hey, it doesn't matter,
we're gonna leave same time. We're gonna leave Saturday for
a Sunday game, but I've also been most of the
time it's been teams. We're going back to the East
Coast and changing that time difference. If a game's on Saturday,
we're leaving Thursday, so we're gonna get there two days ahead,
so you can get a full sleep in and full

(33:19):
day in and then wake up the next day feeling
somewhat refreshed. A lot of people believe different things, and
you know, some work, some don't. I believe there's I
believe I don't know exactly when USC left, if they
left last night or they left early this morning, but

(33:43):
I would imagine they left probably yesterday. And you know,
it's not enough time to change your body clock though,
unless you're there for a week. You know, unless you're
there for multiple days, your body clock's gonna be your
body clock. So yeah, at four am, your body's gonna
still be what it's going to be, and trying to
go to sleep is going to be difficult to get

(34:04):
that sleep. So hopefully they can do it and manage it.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
What did you prefer when you were playing when you
traveled two days or a day.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
I like to go if we're going east, east to
west or west to east, I like to go two days.
So for a Sunday game, I'd like to get there,
leave on Friday and get there and be there and
relax and then do a walk through in the morning
and just kind of get you know, get acclimated to
where you're going after a five.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
Six that makes sense, That makes sense.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
You know, you got that six hour flight, and then
most teams do that after the game. Right after the game,
they're they're out of town.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Easier to go west to east and east to west, no.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Other way.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Easier to go east, west to east, east to west,
east to west. Yeah, it's easier, yes, yeah, all right,
yeah pick jacob Our listeners love when you offer some advice.
What advice will you offer today?

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Well, I was gonna give advice about what time the
team should leave for, but you know, you guys took
that away from me. So let's talk about something else
on you know, one of the things we want to
talk about is property damage when it comes to auto accidents.

(35:20):
I think this is a conversation that's never had, but
it's something that as attorneys we deal with every single day.
And what I want to talk about is when someone's
involved in a car accident, the insurance company always likes
to point to the damages to the vehicles, and if
there's not a lot of damage, if you've got scratches,

(35:42):
they always love to run up the poll and say,
look at the damages. There's barely any damage. How could
anybody be injured? Your client is lying and all that stuff.
And what that makes us do as attorneys guys, is
that we have to really analyze property damage and we
have to look at the car. And I'll give you
an example. For example, there's certain times when you're driving

(36:04):
a big car, maybe a Chevy Silverado or something like that,
and you can get into an accident with another big
car and it's a huge hit and there's a lot
of force that actually gets transferred for the people that
are in it. But if you look at the damages
to the Chevy Silverado, or you look at the damages
to the trailer, they barely have any damage. And we

(36:26):
unfortunately get that thrown in our face all the time.
And that's one of the reasons that I want our
listeners to understand that when they're involved in an accident,
taking photos of the property damage of their car and
the car of the other people is very important because
sometimes they come to us and they show us pictures
and we're like, well, unfortunately, there's not a lot of damage.

(36:46):
It's going to be very hard for us to be
able to justify to the other side that you were injured,
even though they say I'm so injured, I can't move.
But when they show us the damages to the other vehicle,
then the story is told a lot better because maybe
the other car has more damage, and that gives us
an opportunity to have one of our experts do a
full review of the amount of force that went on

(37:08):
in this, you know, in the accident. Another thing that
a lot of people don't know is that sometimes the
damages are not necessarily visible on the outside. Sometimes there's
frame damage, sometimes there is you know, damage to the undercarriage,
depending on if one car is a little bit higher
and another car is a little bit lower. A lot
of times people take their car to a body shop.

(37:29):
They try to get it done as quickly as possible,
and the body shop does not do that analysis. So
I just kind of want to share that because very
often when a case does not settle and we have
to follow lawsuit and we got to go and we
got to fight in court. One of the things I
guess looked at is these pictures that are blown up,
you know, to you know, huge pictures brought into court

(37:51):
that says to the jury, look, there's barely any damage.
And if your attorney does not get a chance to
evaluate the car early and be able to come up
with the opposing argument that yes, you can't see the damage,
but then look under the car, look at everything that
occur that occurred to the frame and things like that,

(38:12):
then you can have a counter argument to that, and
it completely completely blows the insurance company out of the water. So,
you know, it may not be a very interesting topic,
but a very important topic that I think our listeners
need to know about because it's part of every single
accident and it's important for people to know that that's
what we look at when an accident occurs as well.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
All right, great stuff, Jacob, thank you, have a terrific weekend,
Get up early for the game, Go throw Jinger. Our
two coming up and we'll get started with a godfather.
