Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Talk of the Town on news Radio with
thirteen hundred and one oh six nine FM Steve Kelly
and Brett Pikita from West Michigan's Morning News from Right
Care Clinic in studio with US medical director Todd Chassis.
Doctor Chassie, thanks for doing this today.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Appreciate you guys having us also.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
With business development Ashley Cromandike a nurse there as well. Ashley,
thanks for coming in today.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Excited to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
The website is Rightcareclinic dot org. Opened in July of
twenty twenty four. So talk to us a little bit. Doctor.
Let's start with you. What's the difference between a traditional
emergency room or other clinic when we have medical issues.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah, we designed this clinic to really meet the gap
between urgent care and the er and so urgent care
is good for very minor issues, but they don't have
the ability to do a cat scan, blood test, IVS, fluids,
and so then you have your emergency department, which is great,
but obviously you can't schedule appointment. It's often very busy
and very expensive. So we tried to meet that gap
(00:56):
for patients who are too sick for urgent care, but
who don't need all the services and don't need to
be admitted to the hospital.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
And so when you look at it right now we
talk about on wood radio, whether it's the flu, pandemic
or whatever the case might be, this is a nice
option as far as efficiency and everything right to make
sure that people are seeing somebody and then the care
goes from there.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
So this is patient centric and so you can schedule
your same day appointments so you're not waiting in the ear.
Obviously we want you to see your primary care doctor,
but as you mentioned, flu, pandemic, other illnesses you can't
get into your primary care. This is a great option for.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
People, Ashley, as you are headed in what sort of
stuff do you need? I mean, do you work directly
with insurance companies. There are obviously patients that don't have
it or pay right out of pocket and would this
be a better option for them compared to a whole
emergency department at a big hospital.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Absolutely, right care is a much more cost effective care facility.
We are always able to give you cash prices in
a good faith estimate, more bare bones pricing than you'll
see at the hospital. We don't have facility fees on
top of our care service fees, so it's a much
cheaper option now.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
The parent company is Emergency Care Specialist Right, which started
back in the mid eighties part of Butterworth Hospital. You
guys are on the East belt Line, So tell us
how people find you, what would be a good location
or a marker to where you are, and how you
kind of develop from that.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, and so we are right at the belt line
in ninety six, conveniently located for people in the greater
West Michigan area. And as you mentioned, we're a group
of emergency physicians, one hundred ninety year physicians and advanced
practice providers who've been practicing in Grant Rapids for over
forty years. This is our first venture outside of the
health system. It really gives us an opportunity to meet
patients' needs in the community.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Wow, this is bigger than it presents when you're drive by.
So talk to us a little bit again about what
sort of conditions specifically would make me choose you first.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, I think this is a great option. If you're
having chest pain, if you have minor injuries where you're
concerned that you might have broken your eye, if you're
sick with flu symptoms, really anything other than severe trauma
stroke like symptoms. Severe trauma stroke like symptoms, those are
definitely best served in the ear, but really everything else
can be well cared for at the Right Care Clinic.
(03:12):
And if we can't care for you, we're going to
coordinate with our three excellent health systems in town and
make sure that you get the care that you need.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
If you haven't heard of them, rightcareclinic dot org for
more information to kind of start your journey Rightcareclinic dot org.
And you've been around for a little more than six
months now, guys, So we move into twenty twenty five
July of twenty four. What's the response that you're already
seeing as far as the patients that you've seen so far.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, every patient has come, really has enjoyed the experience,
I think both from just a comparison to other healthcare
experiences that they've seen. So we have capacity to definitely
see more patients, but we've had great response from the
people who have come and use the services so far.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Talk to us a little bit about making that appointment.
You mentioned that before you just rush on in, it's
a good idea to go to the website, or do
I call? Or how do I make that appointment?
Speaker 3 (03:59):
You can do either. You can go to Rightcareclinic dot
org and there's a book an appointment tab right on
there and it will take you through all the steps.
You can call us if you have questions whether right
Care is an appropriate place for you to go for
your care, you are welcome to give us a call
and we will tell you right over the phone. Yes,
we would love to see you or know we think
you'd be more appropriate.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Oh, that a lot is the parents. We're not doctors.
We don't know. And I don't want to wait in
a waiting room if it's manageable, right, and it's not,
and you'd tell me if it's not life threatening, I'd
rather be watching cartoons at home. Maybe that's saying too
much about me, but otherwise, it's an indefinite time, right.
You don't know how long you're going to be sitting
(04:37):
in the waiting room in ed.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
You do with you folks right exactly, And scheduling your
appointment allows you to pick a time that's convenient and
be seen very very close to that time. Something else
that I think makes us very very unique is that
you see emergency medicine physicians. You are seeing the best
of the best. They're working in all of the major
ers in the area. It's not an advanced practice provider.
(05:02):
While they are excellent, there is something about the expertise
of the physician.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
And on site labs X rays. You talked about CT scans.
Is there anything that specifically you've had a lot of
people in me stop, buy or call about that you
don't do I mean, because that covers a lot of
it for people.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I think the biggest things you know, we don't do MRIs,
we don't do formal ultrasounds, we don't have an all
encompas Seed hospital pharmacy for medications, but the vast majority
of what patients need we're able to offer right on site.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Find out what they have for you Rightcareclinic dot org,
including how to get there, how to make an appointment.
It is a great relatively new but cooking right along.
Doctor Todd Chassis is the medical director. Thank you for
coming in today, Thanks for having us and Ashley cromendyke
a pleasure. Thank you for coming in today too.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
