from West Michigan's Morning News, joined by a very special
guest today, Derek Jones from Zigler Maserati of Granville, AH.

Good morning.

Really excited to talk with you this week because I
know for our news we've been reporting on tariffs and
a lot of the people I've talked to immediately think,
how is this going to affect the automotive industry? So
what are you seeing at Zigler?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, it's no secret it's
kind of the elephant in the room where if people
are talking about just investments or buying a vehicle or
lease in a vehicle, and now they hear of these tariffs.
Not just on the auto industry, but everybody knows what's
what's taking place. You know, we look at it as
we truly don't believe that it's going to affect a

lot of our pricing, the manufacturers as a whole, in
just the big three Stalantis, GM Ford again right here
in Michigan, based in Detroit. They're looking at it as
a way to drive the industry really realign pricing for
these these vehicles. We've seen that on the Masarati and
the Alpha Romeo side and it's actually an exciting time.

So we look at, you know, pricing going down. First
time that we've seen pricing decrease on an automobile. I've
been in the business twenty nine years and eight years
with Masarati and Alpha at Zigler in Granville, and first time,
like we have to read the paperwork two or three
times to make sure that this is valid because you
(01:34):
just don't hear of anything going down. So Maserati in
a hole. Our vehicles are three to four thousand dollars
less than what they were just last quarter Q four,
and we are seeing those. They're actually sending us new
window stickers, new invoices, so we're seeing that take place
both on Maserati and Alpha Romeo side. Some of our Levante,

the Ghibli which is our sedan, Levante's our sport Utila,
and you know, these are three to four thousand dollars
less than they were just a few months ago. Our
Maserati Grand Turismo is going to be twelve thousand dollars
less than what it was just last year, and are
MC twenty and again these are special order exotic cars,
(02:17):
but you know that car is right around that three
hundred thousand mark, and that's going to be fifteen thousand
dollars less. So they've realigned. So even if these tariffs
go in and they you know, may go up two
to three thousand dollars, we're still going to be you know,
ten twelve thousand dollars ahead than where we were just
in Q four of last year. Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
And you do keep using that word exciting, which I
think is important because people know there've been some changes
in the Big three that includes Stilantis, but this is
still an exciting time at Zigler Maserati of Granville.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Absolutely, And you know, we just came off the Auto show,
which was a was a great attendant. Like there was
a lot of people, a lot of questions, a lot
of questions on what Stillantis doing as a whole because oviously,
the CEO that was in place has been obviously removed
and now they're in the process of getting a new

CEO in place. There's a new leadership team. The exciting
part for us is that we have people right here
in West Michigan writing Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, Holland that
worked at Stalantis that were masterminds, people that created the
Vaight HEMI, created a lot of things for Chrysler, Dodge,
Jeep Ram and those folks were either retired or retiring

or they were let go. And the exciting news is
that they're back and they're back in the leadership positions
as well as the leadership team, and Stalantis is finding
a new CEO all at the same time. So it
is a great movement. It's exciting, the energy is definitely there.
But what comes with that is how it helps the
actual consumer, whether they're buying or lease in a vehicle. Well,
(03:50):
it comes with higher incentives, it comes with better lease rates.
So we've seen that average payment of are you ready
for this, Schmidty, It's like nine hundred dollars is the
average payment that's out there. We're seeing that go down
by almost two hundred to two hundred and fifty dollars
on all cars. And that's all Stilantis now GM obviously
(04:12):
for you know, we want to talk about Stilantis and
Maserati and Alfha, but as a whole looking for the consumer,
I think we've got a great thing in place, especially
with the auto industry and just moving forward as a whole.
We're seeing it just in the last two months, we're
seeing these exciting you know, incentives and leasing come through
and then to be able to share the Maserati Levante
(04:34):
So most people know there's a lot of clients. We
have a lot of clients right here locally in West Michigan,
especially the Grand Rapids Holland area, and these Maserati Levante's
they lease five thousand dollars down for about fifteen hundred
dollars a month. With the price decrease and the incentives
that launched this year, starting in January, with that same structure,

lease the same five thousand dollars down, the payment's nine
to ninety five. Wow, yeah, I mean you did.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
You don't want to miss out.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
On that, you don't and so and it's things are good.
We've got a great inventory. If you remember a few
years ago, we couldn't even get cars right, and then
during the COVID times, the twenty one and twenty twenty two,
it was like the supplying demand drove up everything and
then it took a while for the you know, economy
to kind of level back out. It took a while
for the auto industry to level back out and now
(05:23):
things are kind of back to where they should be.
But now we're seeing some highly incentivized leases and the rates.
You know, the rates were eight nine percent. Now we're
down around that five to six percent. So everything's moving
in the right direction. And I think that these are
just exciting times for a lot of people that hey,
I can't afford a Maserati, but I'd love to have one. Yeah, well,
(05:43):
now is the time. Now is really the time to
lease a Maserati. And Alfa Romeo is right there as well.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
I mean, this is such great news for a consumer
because you read it on my social media. A Maserati
more affordable than you think it, truly is. This is
the proof right now. This is such a prime time
for shopping. But I want to say this too, also
where you shop and who you trust and Zigler Maserati
of Granville, it is like a family. I mean, everyone
is incredible, from showroom to parts department. It's a great

spot to start your conversation.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah, and you know, those compliments we appreciate because it
means a lot to us. We always, you know, invite
everybody in. We're not about buying the vehicle today. And
taking it home at five o'clock. Right, We're all about
what are you looking to accomplish, what's going to benefit you,
your lifestyle, your family. You know, a lot of companies
maybe they'd like to, you know, do a lease and
(06:32):
then run it through the company. There's a lot of
options that we can look at there. We've got a
lot of clients that do that. So we're all about family.
We're all about you know, enjoying that. You know, maybe
bottle of champagne or a glass of wine or a
bottle of water. If you don't drink it's all it's
all fine. But we got bubbly water too, you know.
But it's a lot of fun and that's what it's
all about. It's all about the experience. So you know,
(06:54):
when you come in and you're looking to accomplish something,
there's you're on a mission to do something and we
want to help. And that's where that family tie comes
into place. You know, we're we're not just you know,
come in and buy a car and take it home
at three o'clock. We'd love to do that. Reality is,
it does take a little bit of time and a
lot of people, you know, they'll come in and they

may want to find a particular color in particular options,
and we'll take the time and go through the design
center and get exactly what you want and be able
to maybe either dealer trade or order the vehicle. So
all of those options are available on the table. But
right now, more than anything is what's in stock. The
incentives that we have, you know, from Maserati, from Alpha Romeo,
even from Stalantis as a whole. It truly is. I've
(07:38):
been there eight years, I've been in the business for
twenty nine years. Some of the most exciting times, and
the energy in these prices, I can I literally I
can't believe them. Seriously. I had to read all I
was telling you. I had to read all my paperwork
from Maserati and Alpha. I read it like three times,
going is this accurate? You know? I made calls, I
sent emails. I'm like, okay, we're good, let's go. So
(07:59):
we're going to have We're going to have a great
march in great April.
