Speaker 4 (01:10):
Stop in on your way to your next game or
on your way home. Well you heard it. Our game
reporter is gonna be busy. We got a lot of them,
got some great games, including this one. As we welcome
you in to Falcons Stadium, East Kentwick High School right
here the press box with us where it is warm
but go summer is back, and what a matchup we
have interesting tonight. It's sort of like last week we
were talking about with Jennison and Forestols Northern, but different

(01:32):
than both. These teams are one and one coming in,
but you feel like, okay, who gets the win and
catapults themselves in division play with that extra mo menum
and who goes into maybe a tough division if it's
South Christian on the losing in like the ok Gold
last year and say, oh boy, we're one and two
as the Sailors of South Christian host the Falcons of
West Catholic. Two great young coaches in Landing Grove and

(01:54):
obviously Danny Brown gonna be on display with they're kind
of young football teams tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Yeah, I feel like this is kind of a retooling
year for Coach Brown and the Sailors after a very
highly heralded senior class departed last season.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
And then you look at Wes Catholic.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Yes, they do have returning players, they do have some
vets in there, but still a pretty healthy mix of
new inductees into the starting lineup. And this will be
a very interesting test for both teams. Not only because
last year it was a wild finish and then Carson
VISs did what he did a lot of times when
he was in high school, which was take the game

(02:30):
over and you get the win for South Christian, but
also because you have two teams that right now are
kind of that fork in the road.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
They're one and one, they're heading into division play.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
They're both teams that are kind of rebuilding a little
bit from last year. But you also look at this
and think, man, if you lose this game, that's one
and two and you're heading into division play where they're
not going to feel sorry for you, and the goal
is to get to the postseason. Now, South Christian did
it last year at five and four, did so at
six and three, but I think that you really want

(03:03):
to try to, of course, build as many points as
you can get a home game if possible, and neither
of those teams.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Were able to do that.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
And so now you look at this and you think, man,
this is a really big game. Doesn't mean there are
seasons or if they lose, of course not. But at
the same time, you go down to one and two,
it's not going to get any easier for the last
six games of the season. And with these young teams,
especially for South Christian coming off a loss last week,
you got to make sure that confidence stays up and

(03:30):
if you again, it's not over. But boy, it's a
really high hill to climb coming up from that. And
both teams coming into this game know the importance of it,
but also know that they're going to play probably one
of the tougher opponents coaching wise on the each sideline
because Dandy Brown and Land and Grove certainly know how
to coach. The chess match is going to be here,

(03:52):
and so this is going to be a very interesting
game for us here tonight.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Well what's interesting too is you look at their overall records,
like you mentioned, and West cam out think at seven
and four, you're saying, wow, seven and four. They were
five and zer though, and they won outright the ok
White Division.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Which had Forstell's Eastern last year. That was good. Hamilton
was better.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
And on the other side, for South Christian they started
out great. They actually won this matchup at West Catholic
and a crazy game where Carson biss has went nuts
with his feet and his arm. How many times do
we see that over his career forty one thirty eight.
The Sailors win it, and you're thinking, Okay, they're kind
of ride right now. Remember we covered the game. They
beat East Crian Rapids at Memorial Field. Then all of
a sudden they hit the ok Gold, which arguably was

(04:32):
the toughest division the Okay Conference last year, and when
you look at the final numbers, they were one in four.
They were fifth in the ok Gold. Remember Unity Christian
won outright. Zealand West was your Division three state champs
at four to one. Then there was Forest Hills Central,
then there was Zealand East, and then there was South
Christian at one in four division play. But then they
get back on top of the roller coaster and they

(04:53):
knock off Unity Christian to win the district championship at
Division four, made it all the way to the semi final.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Yeah, and he felt like if they won that first
round game toppling the previous undefeated Crusaders, you thought, man,
this maybe they're gonna go all the way. But then
they played that Niles team, which you know, again we
look at them, you know, win winning last year, and
then good Rich just absolutely dominated them in the state final.
He kind of felt Niles peaked a little bit early

(05:20):
in that semi final. But it was a great year
for South Christian roller coaster. You win five, you lose four,
you win three, and they finally lose the last one.
But West Catholic, as you said, kind of just through
the year as they progressed, got better, but just kind
of had too many mistakes in that district final loss
to Catholic Central. And I think that's kind of what

(05:41):
burns in the craw of the Falcons, and they know
that they were better than they were showing last year.
They felt they could have and should have gone farther
than that, but they didn't. And I think that they
feel like they have more to prove than the Sailors
do tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
So it's the one to one Falcons of West Catholic
against the one to one Sailors of South Christian in
a Week three edition of the LMCU High School Football
Game of the Week. On this beautiful Friday night here
on nainety six one the game we come back on
the Janus Family Stores pregame show, we'll get Buck Gino's
Vandalano Improvement keys to the contest. Also our sporting new
starting lineups tonight we're counting down to kickoff right here

(06:17):
on your home for high school Football ninety six to one,
and as welcome back to Falcons Stadium, the South Christian
Sailor marching band with the national anthem on this gorgeous
night for football. Gonna be warm, buck Gino, it's warm
already here. It'll cool down with the turf, but kickoff

(06:38):
set around seventy two degrees. As West Catholic of the
visiting white uniforms with the black pants and the black
helmets with a youter locking WC and green on the side.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
South Christian with that familiar Penn State.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Look, but all navy blue with their pants and jerseys,
the white numbers and of course the familiar Penn State
looking White Caps as the captains get set to meet
out on the midfield stripe and the falcon here at
East Kent Within High School. Let's go to you right
now with our vadal on home improvement keys to the contest.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Well, for South Christian, I think if you take all
the yards of a game last week and they would
probably wouldn't be able to make one trip around the school.
I mean, they just struggled on offense. They're gonna have
to find something that works for them, whether it's burgess
on the ground, whether it's burgers through the air, somebody vandigrints.
Somebody's got to do something because they struggled mightily. Not
not that East Grand Rapids is a bad defensive team,

(07:25):
but you would expect South Christian to do a little
bit better than they did last week.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
That's the key for them.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
They really need to up their game on the offensive side.
For West Catholic, we saw in week one they hung
with Northview. Just depth for them really became an issue.
They are not a deep team. With what warmer weather tonight,
that's gonna take a toll. You got guys playing on
both sides. I think though for West Catholic they have
some guys they trust to bring in behind those starters.

(07:52):
That's gonna be the key for them, keep them fresh
because this is going to be a long game. It's
a little bit, like I said, a hotter weather game
than they've played though this year, and so they have
to keep themselves fresh because depth was really the issue
against North View that was helped lead to their downfall
in that week one loss and then last week beating
Cooper till they got out it early, got comfortable they

(08:14):
could rest the starters, they could play some other guys.
So that's what they're gonna need to do tonight is
cycle guys in, do it, do it judiciously, and try
to keep those guys fresh for.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
The fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
West Catholic approaching and he kicks it away is cursedetter
high end over ends short kick field at the ten,
cross the fifteen to twenty middle of the field, across the
twenty five at out across the thirty nice return to
the thirty two yard line. On the return that time
for West Catholic was Deacon Parslow, the sophomore tight end
slash linebacker and out comes Grady august Augustin returning starter

(09:16):
up on the var Sassy the sophomore now a senior,
leading out the Falcons West Catholic first down and ten
Connor Olschewski is the running back. In the backfield, they'll
go just one back, four wide receiver set most of
the time. Olshewsky a senior Owen Hunter along with Thomas
Puksta two wide receivers to the right hand offf Olszewski

(09:37):
bouncing it outside. It was designed to go over center,
bounce the running room and up the right sideline right
in front of the Falcons bench.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
He's across the forty close to the first.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Down marker give him a gain of nine second down
and one good vision that time by the senior running back.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Well, a nice return by a Hunter on the opening kickoff,
gets some good field position and the Olshewsky's showing the
veteran vision there. It was supposed to go right up
the middle, but he sees quickly that in he needs
to go outside.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
He gets nine on the first play from scrimming cam
inbody and Max Wildman. Your other wide receiver is now
Augusta wants to go to the air across the middle
for wild Man just off his fingertips a tad high,
but a catchable ball at the south Christian thirty five
on the coverage defensively that time was the linebacker Caleb
Winnikee six three two ten and a senior for Danny

(10:21):
brown Sailor's defense.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
I know they script some of the first players, but
that's an excellent play call. On second one, go deep.
You got almost the free down with now third and one,
I feel like you can make that.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
That's a really good throw. If Max brings that down,
that's a huge game. Noah, Gillespian, there's a tight end.
They want to power Olschewsky right up the middle. He's
across the midfield stripe, got a first down in More
into Sailor territory, right through the teeth of that defense.
It'll spot him at the South Christian forty six yard line.
Nice pick up there, first down and ten move the
chains in More. Olshewski has a couple of nice carries early.

(10:57):
The offensive line doing the job. Colin Abram and you're
running back in there. They'll rotate those two to give
each other a breather. Abram left side inside the forty five,
pushing forward to the forty one yard line.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
He was tackled high and just carried the would be tackler.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
That's defensive lineman Cody Jones for an xdyard gay to five.
Second and five, and here we go Wes Cathick right
out of the gate early. Good to see for Landing
Grove and his bunch picking up right when they left
off in that shutout victory last week over Coopersville.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Now the ball pops.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Loosen right to a South Christian defender, it bounces off
the turf.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Never get into that time.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Was Abram on the handoff from Augustin, and let's see
who comes up with it for South Christian Johnny on
the spot that time. Defensively was number seventeen for South Christian.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
That's Jack Weiss, the linebacker.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
I mean, that's a heck of a play for Jack,
but he's not gonna get an easier one. Abram hits
him in the chest and I don't know if he
was looking at something else, if the timing was off.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I mean it went right off of his chest. He
just never got it and never got.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
It clean and bounced right into the arms of Jack.
And boy, that's a crushing turnover for West Cathrick.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
They had a nice drive going there, and we.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Just talked about it. I mean, those are the things
that you just can't do if you're struggling.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
So first and ten, after the turnover, South Christian from
their own forty one trips right, one receiver left, Austin
Burgess swings it out in the flat Vandigrind makes a
man mess, cuts back across the midfield stripes killing his
feet and he's got.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
A first down.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Nice run after the catch and just a simple swing
out to the right flat that time and he gets
into West Catholic territory.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
To the forty seven yard line.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
That's Jesse vandergrind five nine, one sixty and a junior,
very junior lady offensive starting lineup for Danny Brown. Matter
of fact, only one senior starting for the Sailors on
the offensive side of the football.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
Yeah, and that's kind of what Danny Brown has known
that was gonna be the reality. But now it's time
to develop and grow and we'll see how they do here.
Had a little rough series defensively, got the lucky turn
over there, and we'll see.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
What they do with the don the offense.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
First down in ten, Austin Burgess calling his own number.
He's gonna be hit by Wildman and stacked up after
a short gain to the forty six yard line, gain
of just one. So it's Austin Burgess the junior quarterback
number five. His favorite target wide receiver wise is his
cousin Owen Burgess, the lone senior starter six one heck
of an athlete is Owen number two. And we mentioned

(13:29):
Jesse Vandergrin is your running back. They also like to
go with like a three wide receiver or four wide
receiver set.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Sometimes they use a tight end. They got a good
one in Dax Blackboard. Only a freshman.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
He's a Smesterman six four to two oh five second
down and nine coming up split wide by himself is
Eastern Rock, the five to eight sophomore to the wide
side of the field.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Left.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Now motion to man from left to right. That's Brody Schultz.
He'll form a slot right handoff to the right side.
Vander Grin has some running room. Nice job using Schiltz
as a blocker to seal the edge, and he's inside
the forty five down to the forty yard line of
West Catholic. He's gonna bring up a third down and
three tonight starting lineups brought to you by Sporting You

(14:09):
you think at the Lincoln they have what you need
to look your best. Check out their gear online and
their inventory at SPORTINGTHELETTERU dot com, Bucchino.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Well, third down coming up, and I feel like they're
here at the forty yard line. This is probably two
plays to get three yards, Bratt. I really think unless
there is a unless disaster happens on this one, they've
got two plays to make it here.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Gotta be careful with the football though.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
Five junior offensive linemen starting for Danny Brown the Sailors,
that's how young they are on the offensive side out
of the pistol formation. They'll send a one burgess in
motion handoff. I back fighting for extra yardage, and I
think he's gonna got it. He's gonna get it with
the extra surge. Oh man, they're marking him about a
yard back at the thirty eight yard line. I thought
he got a push to the thirty seven on the

(14:54):
carry that time was Kyle Nikliskey.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
He'll also rotate in with vandergrind more of.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
A bigger back for the physical presence you wanted there
on short yarded situations. They say only a game of two,
So fourth and one decision time already for Danny Brown,
and this offense did struggle.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
I think that decision was made when they called the
third down play. They thought they were gonna get it there,
and they knew that they didn't. They were gonna get
over the ball, and that's what's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Ni Klisky only a sophomore five nine five still in
the backfield.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Fourth and one, they'll give it to him left side.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Got the first down inside the thirty five, powers his
way down to the thirty two yard line. Credit the
offensive line on that left side. Jackson Rick Noaldy sixty
four two fifteen to the junior left guard Jacob Labazoo
sixty three one ninety five at a junior. Your center
starters Joe Gritter, he's six two to two O five
and a junior. Then Grayson Hunterman on the right side
at guard, Cody Jones, the big fella in that.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Group sixty four to two tenant you near the right.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Tackle on n klisky saw I think it was Wildman
or maybe Abram on that outside. It was designed to
go right where the defender was standing, so he just
cuts it up inside over the guy to makes a nice.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Game first down and ten Owen Burgess and Charlie Vermass,
two wide receivers have left two more to the right,
one back of the backfield, slinging across the middle. Almost
intercepted kind of sidearm that one. And it was Aaron
Austin Burgess looking on the slant that time for owen Burgess,
and he was open with at least a couple of
steps against the defender at the twenty five.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yeah, I think that one he'd like back. It was
an open play.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
The re fever gets the leverage on the defensive back
of slant cut inside.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
It's manned with over top coverage, so he knows he's.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Gonna have the help deep, which means that he's able
to turn it inside and get positioned. But Burgess, just
like you said, he side arms it in there and
just not an accurate throw.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Nine senior starters for this West Catholic defense. Second down
and ten after the incompletion, two oid receivers right one
to the left hand off vander grind left side finds
a crase inside the thirty to the twenty nine. Pretty
good job of the West Catholic defense. Just to gain
him three up front, they go three on lineman. He
got a Hunter Price a senior, and Jack Franzac number

(17:04):
twenty four on the outside nose tackle. They'll move him
around as Brady Schultz. Their linebacker corps is outstanding. Colin
Abram is Thellonge junior, I should say second junior. Jail Jujenim,
who is their leading tackler with sixteen.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Tackles coming in. Number thirty one is their sam linebacker junior.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
Then Max Wildman, a senior, and Noah GILLEPSI up Gillespie,
excuse me wearing zero tonight for Westkthock the other backer.
Third down and seven, just underway here South Christian trying
to take advantage of a turnover the fumble recovery under
pressure and under Durestus throws out in the flats.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
No one home on third down.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Good pressure on the edge that time right in his
face coming from West Cathock on the near side.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Yeah, that was a late blitz by the linebacker and
nobody blocks, and Burgess turns around and just dirts it.
I mean, there was somebody in the same zip code,
but that was not even close to Owen his cousin.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
And now it's gonna be fourth down.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
But again, I mean, this is two plays to make
seven yard right just West Cathy with an excellent defensive
call there to blow up the third down play.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Now it's gonna be fourth and long.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Franz act the nearsign defensive end getting crusher Dax Blackboard
the title. They stacking the left side and fourth and
seven from the West Catholic twenty nine out of the
pistol formation. Two Wande receivers the right, one to the left,
Burgess back to pass across the middle.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Has a man can wait for a first down.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Great job, of seeing that one in with both hands
inside the twenty down to the fifteen yard line, making
a huge first down catch was Charlie Vermass, another junior
six three one ninety.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
That's a really nice throw there by Burgess. And you
can tell that I didn't know if he just sidroned
with the one time because he thought that'd be how
he was gonna fit it in. But that's that's the
mechanic there, and swings it through the middle. That's a
great catch though by Vermass, focusing in there, especially in
the middle of the field where.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
You know you could get popped by a safety.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
But that's a wonderful throw and an even better catch
by Vermouth for the first down.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
From just inside the left hash first down and ten
fresh set of downs, hand off right side, and that
is the sophomore mcliskey down to the twelve yard line
stacked up there, give him three second down and seven
they can get a first down just inside the five
yard line. How big would this beat for South Christian?
They were shut out last week at home. Folks over
at Waddale Field and Byrons Center their own home field,

(19:27):
or they sit there the other home field with eas
Kemp would have to play at home. And it was
just a tough game from the start. They had a
bad snap fumbled recovered by East Grand Rapids for a score,
but couldn't put points on the board, couldn't keep drives alive.
And Danny Brown said, we need to have some explosive plays,
and we have some big plays, just like you had
moments to goo to pick up that first down by
the catchup Charlie vermats.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
They go four wide receivers now try to spread out
that Falcons defense a little bit.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Two wide receivers each way.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Now the motion of man and go trips to the
left side from right to left. The motion play fake
cross the middle behind his intended target Owen Burgess that
time and again just kind of signed slings a little bit.
Aaron unable to die in after the playfake that time.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
To Nikliskey, Well that and Owen Burgess is upset because
he beats his man off the line of scrimmage. And
if he throws if because they're both Burgesses, so I
gotta be real careful here. So if Austin to Owen
throws it in front of Owen, that's six points. Yep,
he throws it behind Owen and it's second.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Down, third down.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Excuse ye, cam embody on the coverage the senior number
thirteen for West Cathoic. But you're right, he had to
step on him. Going towards the middle of the field
for the post pattern. Third and seven trips left hand
off Nikliskey, the sophomore down inside the eleven to the
ten yard line.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
They'll give him just inside the ten. It's gonna be
fourth in a long four.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
We'll call for South Christian offense, gonna stay out there
four to twenty eight and taking left to go and
Danny Brown, one of the he talked about. I said, Brett,
we're different than we've been in the last few years
because we're more of a run oriented team, even with
this young offensive line, and we want to play the clock.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Now, they are going to bring on the kicker.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Well, you don't think he's the kicker. He wears fifty
nine cursed atter. Maybe he does that to confuse us
up here.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Holder is Owen Burgess good hands by the wide receiver.
So they're gonna go forward here. They'll kneel down at
the seventeen yard line. Twenty seven yard field goal from
the middle of the field towards the south end zone.
Snap is going hold his down kick is up low
line driving kick and he missed it to the left. Well,
that one didn't get more than twelve or thirteen feet

(21:39):
off the ground, So no good in the West Catholic
defense holds three point fifty left.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
To go on the opening quarter.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
We're scoreless, and now Grady Augustin and the Falcons offense
comes back out for their second crack at it after
they were driving and then had the fumble.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
Well, that was a really really long drive there by
South Christian six minutes forty five seconds. It's ky of
a shame for them. They they come away with no
points in West Catholic. Now what they've got to do
is they don't have to go another seven minutes with
the football. But boy Brett, they've got to get a
couple of first downs yere and try to balance the ledger.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Remember at high school football, missed field goal attempt, ball
goes to the twenty and now on first down and
ten handoff over the left side on the carry Connor Olzewski,
it's a couple out to the twenty two. Good job
by the South Christian defense. They've got three senior starters
on defense leading tacklers up front defensive tackle six to

(22:36):
five has been butter with twelve tackles. Also Caleb Winekey
excuse me, winn Key senior linebacker six three, two, ten,
and I'm also cashing Van Solkim of the junior keep
an eye on him, number twenty two.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Augustin wants to throw the left. He sets fires.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Beautiful spiral strike across the middle of the field, cross
the thirty five and caught and dropped at the thirty
six yard line. That'll be good for a first down
that time game ofen.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
On the catch, Well, you see the difference in the
throwing styles and also the strength with Grady Augustin stepping
into that one and just throwing an absolute dart into
the middle of the field. It's a heck of a
throw there, and picks up thirteen.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Books to number nineteen on the catch, first down and
ten delayed handoff counteraction from right to left Olshefski across
the forty out to the forty one yard line, given
five second and five as we wind under three minutes
in ticking left to go, opening quarter, no score between
West Cathy and South Christian's second offensive possession. First one

(23:37):
ended in a fumble in South Christian territory for the Falcons. Yeah,
you kind of feel like West Kathy.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Now.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
You didn't know how they were going to come out
of that drive with South Christian so far looking.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Crisp got a big right tackle.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Jacob Timbrick was about six six sixty seven headed a
CMU next year, a senior eighty pounds to Augustin out
of the pistol, swings out in the flat, nice kickout
block up the sideline, got a first down and into
Sailor territory that time. Nice seal block on the edge.
As over there was Pooksta and that's enough for a

(24:18):
first down. On the catch that time was Massi wickstrom
sneaky quick senior wide receiver. They just kind of ran
them in the flats and the other two wide receivers
blocked down. He was able to get up the edge
and pick up that first down. Mark him at the
forty eight yard line. Augustin designed quarterback keeper. He doesn't
do it much. Nice job of sending him back inside

(24:40):
with a penetration in South Christian and they'll stack him
up for a short gain at the forty six yard line,
give him two second and eight.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
As we rolled under two minutes left to go on
this fast moving first quarter, it.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Might have been a design quarterback run, but it was
not designed to go like that.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
He was thinking he was going to go.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Over the right side, and there was a wall of
blue over there, so he quickly had to change course,
pick up what he could up the middle, and now
they'll bring up second and eight. But that's what a
veteran quarterback does. They don't try to make things out
of enough. They just take what's in front of him.
There he knows he has good blocking up front, just
takes the two yards.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Went back to the backfield, will handoff to him on
a little delay counter inside the forty five. Rambling inside
the forty close to that third first down marker at
the thirty eighth.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
That time was Colin Abram hanging on to the football.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
They'll say his knee down the thirty nine of South Christans,
who will be yard short third and one. On that
last play, it was a great read by the safety
to a clump. He got upfield, realized it was a
designed quarterback keeper on the edge and forced him back
inside where the help was third and short handoff again
first down and more inside the thirty five right to

(25:46):
the teeth that.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
South Christian defense. Good job of the offensive line.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Colin Abram runs again, moving the chains and they'll bring
him down at the thirty two yard line.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Let's give credit where credit is due.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Up front, you've got Aiden Roblin, the sophomore big fellow.
Left tackle Hunter Price is two way starter for West
Catholic senior number fifty four. Left guard Max Smith is
in the center, Jon Jujum is your right guard, and
Jacob Timber, the big fella going to CMU the senior
is the right tackle. Play action, plenty of time the pocket.
Look he looking hit as he throws, almost intercepted. You

(26:20):
could tell as he got a hit that forced to
throw wobbly. He was looking for his intended receiver, Noah
Gillspie that time down about the fifteen yard line, but
stepping in front and he tried to climb the ladder
as Charlie Vermass almost picked that one off.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Well.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Augusta does a good job there. He kind of stays
in the pocket but gets out of the wash. The
clock is running in his head and he knows this
guy to get rid of the football, but a really
good job there by South Christian.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
I think it was Cody Jones that got the hit
on him.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
I didn't see the number, but he just got three
of his block and Grady Augustin didn't account for that
and got hit.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
As he throws empty backfield, five wide receivers set, they
swing it out wide receiver bubbles. It's being a great
job of the South Christian defense to bring him down
after a short game. That was Brody Shields on the tackle.
It was complete to Punkstraw. It's gonna be short of
the first down and that might be the final play
in this fast moving opening quarter and it is Wes
Kathick on the move.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Big third down and five coming up.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
That opening quarter being brought to you by Straight Line Fence,
the fencing company Ground Rapids with a personal touch, offering
both residential and commercial fencing projects. Call today for your
free estimate at six one, six four four three twenty
five fifty or visit Straight Line Fences dot com. After
one quarter play here in East Ketwood, West Cathick nothing,
South Christian, nothingy. Welcome back with second quarter action after
this on ninety six to one. The game back here

(27:40):
at Foundkinstadium prep packet along with Bunk Gino. You've heard
from our host already back in the studio, Rick Perky.
Johnny Oak is the fourth member of our crew, executive
producer in the score center working hard tonight scores and
more coming up. Else you'll hear from them, Kolbania and
Joe Aaron. Third and five critical play here to start
the second quarter as we switch sides for the team.
So this Catholic movie left to running the radio Dollen

(28:01):
ends of the field. They're heading into the south end
zone in South Christian territory. Here inside the thirty handoff,
Olshevsky trying to get wide against the South Christian defense,
does turn the corner and boy, he made something out
of nothing.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
It looked like buck. You know he's close to that
first style marker.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
I think they're gonna give it to him just inside
the South Christian twenty two.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
It's a heck of a job by Wes Catholic. I
mean South Christian had that one dead to rights. They
strung it out and I strung it out all the
way to the sideline. But the blocking down field held
just enough, not held like penalty, but just was able
to keep them off the Olshovsky's trail, and then they

(28:41):
were able to get six yards and it didn't feel
like six yards, but that was the heck of a
run by Conrad Olshefsky. Didn't cut it up too early,
just took his time getting to the outside.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Wild man the man in motion from left to right,
Augustin trying to get to the outside. Great ankle tackle
that time to stop him for a short gain.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
As in their defense.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Instantly on the stop was Gavin Bauma, number eight, the
defensive end six four to two five at a junior
for South Christian. They're actually gonna say lost the yard
back to the twenty two and and talking to Danny
Brown this week, Buck he told us he said, I
really like our defense. We fly around to the football.
You can't look at the numbers and say, okay, I
mean they beat round up As Christian in week one,
but he said, we just got to pick it up

(29:21):
and have.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Our offense help us out a little bit.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Yep, second down to eleven, handoff going wide of the
jet sweep makes one man miss, got a kickout block
but unable to make the second man miss. And on
the stop for South Christian, Caleb Winnike on the kurry
that time was Cal Peterson, the senior wide receiver, gets
back inside the twenty to the eighteen, so they'll give

(29:43):
him a gain of four. But third down and seven.
Remember they lost the yard on first down coming up
for West Cathay.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
While they go slot jet there with Peterson. But a
nice job.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
I think for South Christian they're gonna be able to
get side on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
It's gonna between the tackles that from the.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Right, Hash Augusta takes us and that fires it across
the field.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
That's a long throat to the left.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Ash has his man who is running a post pattern
complete and that's a first down inside the ten to
the South Christian eight yard line. Nice past that time,
and a great catch by Thomas Poutska.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Well Putska gets the leverage inside on Schiltz and Schiltz
makes a break on the ball. But just a step
late there. It was a little bit quicker or the
throat took a little bit longer to get there. Shiltz
would have been there to break it up.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Good time. He throwed by augustin that time.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Now he wants to go option nearside of old Chevsky
pitches out to him, makes the first man miss cut
back ins out of ten inside the five, crashing towards
the goal line. Did he get in touchdown? West Katholic
want to run that time from eight yards up. Boy,
it looked like he was gonna be stopped well short,
but that's what the senior can do.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
He's a tough runner.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
Nice compback there, number seven, Connord Oldszewski for the Falcons.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
It doesn't look I mean, he doesn't look like he's
getting to place his very fast, but he is doing
a heck of a job of always moving forward. That's
a quality of a good running back, somebody that keeps
forward progress. Even in that play where he converted the
first down earlier, he still was going forward.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
It wasn't a lot, but he still was low.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Snap cal Peterson handles it, gets it down up and
good with the veteran kicker. The senior Landon Smith puts
it through for the extra point and so with ten
fourteen left to go first half, West Catholic leads it
seven nothing over South Christian. We'll come back with more
here at Falcon Stadium after this. On ninety six to one,
the game so an eight yard touchdown run by West

(31:36):
Catholic senior running back Conner old Chefsky. Tack on the
extra point by Landon Smith, who teas it up now
for the kickoff, and with ten fourteen left to go
first half, its West Catholic striking first seven to nothing
over South Christian line drive kick and they're gonna let
it roll into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Went up the numbers.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Eastern Rock is more towards the middle of the field
on that sign than too deep for South Christian, so
automatic touchback first down in Sailors will have it at
their own twenty yard line. Let's recap that Falcon scoring
drive to give them the early lead here, Buck Gino.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
Well, I mean a fourteen play drive coming off a
failed thirteen play drive by South Christian. It's a heck
of a response by the Falcons. They cap it off
with an eight yard touchdown run by connra Olschewsky.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
The Smith pat is good and it is seven to nothing.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Falcons first down and ten back to work. Austin Burgessing company.
Like you said, they had an impressive drive going couldn't
finish it off with points. Good job of the West
Catholic defense. We'll talk about their veterans secondary in a
minute for the Falcons, two wide receivers and left one
to the right, one back of the backfield, who get
the handoff. Vandigrind trying to go wide breaks one tackle
but not the second forward progress down to.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
The twenty two yard line.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
I would say it's tough to go wide on both
these defenses, but then Olszewski did it a couple times
that proved me wrong.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
So dative two there second down and eight.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
But I was talking about there is a man down
for South Christian. That's vandigrindknra Olschewsky, a senior safety. Cal
Peterson is in there because they're leading tackler from.

Speaker 3 (33:07):

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Aaron Record suffered a season ending knee injury last week.
You hate to see that as a senior against Coopersville
in the shutout, but he was a fantastic player number eleven.
So you have Cal Peterson, but he's a senior in there.
Then your corner is cam Imbody, a senior, and Jacob Petts,
a senior for head coach Landing Grove.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
And I think you feel like South Christian is in
the spot that West Catholic was last year.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Correct experienced but young.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
And that's kind of what we've got with South Christian
is they have got I mean, they have guys that
have played.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
On varsity before.

Speaker 5 (33:41):
They've got some newcomers in as well, but they've got
guys with experience.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
They're just still young.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
And then West Catholic was that team last year and
they had some games where they made some mistakes down
the stretch and ended up they felt their season ended early.
So I think for West Catholic, they're Souse Christian. They
see themselves in West Catholic. And right now, as they're
paying attention to Vandergrind, looks like he's gonna be.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Okay, checking like his knees to see, Yeah, like he
might have got rolled up.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
We've seen that a lot this year, but where kids
get tackled and they just kind of roll around and
all of a sudden somebody gets an anchor or tweaks
a knee, and it's good to see him get back
under his own power. He does got a little hitch
in his gideot, but looks to be not too worse
for wear.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Can go over and take a look him on the bench.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Danny Brown out there, of course, But you know, some
games of interest tonight with our game reports. How about
redmy Monahan East Kent Wood at Genesee. We saw the
Wildcats big win last week at Forsols Northern.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
That's an okay Red Conference opener.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Wildcats could make some noise if they knock off East
Kent with their Falcons coming in too and oh, second
out and eight I want purchase in motion now though,
sending him back to the white side of the field
the other way and partly flag will come out. The
legal motion gonna be called against South Christian.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
I didn't see necessarily where it was at, but somebody
got an early start and boy, second and short or
excuse me, second and long became second longer. And that's
just not something you wanted to do, especially after what
happened last week against the est Grand Rapids.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
I know one of the games you liked in our
roundtable discussion in the high school football Previews show with
our four pack last night, northfiel Wiz Sparta. How about
coach Ashchnach and the Wildcats. Do know they beat West
Catholic in week one. That's the Falcons only lost.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Yeah, and that was a game where I think Northew
and Ryland Richardson kind of got the feel of things
in the first half, and they really poured it on
in the second.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
One wide receiver, I should say, one back of the
backfield to the left of Burgess gets the handoff Mkliskey,
the sophomore, and he has nowhere to go stacked up.
Remember after the penalty back of the line of scripage
z only gets the twenty three so third down and
thirteen coming up for South Christian. They work from inside

(35:51):
their own twenty year down seven to nothing, so Norfew
and Sparta our own bo Hopson his first action obvious
young season here on week three out there covering that
one for us. He'll ever a report coming up an Apton, Well.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
We won't ruin any of their surprises, but we do have.
It's a couple other ones. And Hopkins Overbuilding early and
then actually they're halfway through the second course.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
I say early because it's still not that late, but
both teams.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
Like to run the football, so it's early for us
here but late later in the game. And then Allendale
an early three nothing lead over Kennowa Hills, a big
one of the River cities, and then another surprise Whitehall
over Zealand Westerly fourteen to nothing. Now, Zeland West, we
know they kind of had an exciting game last week.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Everybody saw they kind of had one.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
Where you know, some people got excited, and I think
those games are great, But then you got to go
out there and do it again, and that's the toughest job, especially.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
For a new coach. Now, the old coach is right over.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Here and he's he's still.

Speaker 5 (36:55):
He's like, you know, Friday nights, I still got to
go out to the ballfield, so I'm gonna do this.
But the new coach Bullhouse, that's a tough thing to
navigate because you come up to a tremendous high and
then you're playing another good team. You gotta prepare and
that's a really tough turnaround for teams. And I think
that's what we're seeing right now is maybe a non
experienced head coach with a kind of a younger team,

(37:18):
we might be seeing that type of effect tonight.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Nikleskey stays in that the sophomore running back, third down
and long, Danny Brown, took a time out.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
By the way, that's why we kept it right here.
For South. We weren't just talking because we didn't have
anything else.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
To do big play here. Now they're gonna motion. How
they got two guys moving here, which you can do
with the backer. They just gotta get reset. Now them
keep on Burgess moving and now all kinds of pressure
and Austin Burgess it got rid of it. But this
one is gonna be whistled for a penalty against South Christie.

Speaker 5 (37:45):
Before that even happened, well, they called. They didn't really
know what they wanted to do, so they called time out.
And I love Danny, he's a great guy. It got worse. Yeah,
guys run it all over and then Burgess threw it
to absolutely nobody. It was supposed to be a screen,
or maybe it's supposed to be a screen, and that one,
just that one, you kind of just say, you know what,

(38:08):
let's let's just kick the ball here.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Well, both defensive ends, we're getting pressure Hunter Price fifty
four on the far side and Jack Franzak for the
second time on the near side.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, legal shift to get South Christian.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
And I am surprised that they did not call grounding
on Burgess because I don't I don't know who he
was throwing to.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
But wow, fourth down in thirteen and they got the
offense out here.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
See if they do a quick kick here. Yeah, he'll
do the quick kick here. Brostin Burgess. You got the
safety dropping way back.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Now he drops back a little bit more. You see
the quarterback just kind of kick it away. Now another penalty.
As guys were a movie.

Speaker 5 (38:46):
Early, well, I think we had the center either do
a double clutch or somebody moved the umpire through the flag,
which we don't see.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Movement flagged by him.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
Ball start against South Christians. So Sailor's move in the
wrong way here towards their own end zone they're trying
to protect. Meanwhile, I want to mind just stick around
with us at halftime. Rick Burkey with scores and more.
Those live game reports out there. Some big games in
Week three. Some conference openers depend on how many teams
are in your division.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
It's all brought to you by Holt steps and Physical Therapy.

Speaker 4 (39:16):
Tonight's players have worked hard to get their bodies ready
for competition. Hulse Stepson Physical Therapy wants them to stay
in the game. They quick kick it away, end over
end kick it to be fielded inside the West Catholic
side of the fifty to forty eight Olszewsky goes up
the far sideline, thought about cutting it back in, then
just steps out of bounds. He was surrounded by Navy

(39:37):
blue jerseys, but at the Sailor forty five. So field
position now tilted in the favor of West Catholic and
Landing Grove. And remember they've got a seven to nothing
lead their offense outstanding field position here to start this
try first in ten from the Sailors thirty five yard line.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
This is kind of what happened last week to the
Sailors got stuck in their own end a little bit,
and then give East Grand Rapids a short field position. Well,
let's Kathy gets the ball on the Sailor thirty five.
That's that ideal if you're the Sailors, especially after that
long touchdown drive, you basically go three and out, even
though it didn't feel like it was three and out
because it took that long, and now they get a
short field.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Augustin playfake now hits the man across the middle, makes
a man miss the twenty, inside the fifteen, inside the
ten five, they're not gonna catch him. Touchdown thirty five
yards Grady Augustine the senior, and he hits Owen Hunter
for the score.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
How about that for a quick strike.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
Thirteen nothing West Catholic all set up by a short
field and Danny Brown said, we have to not do
that this week.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
It really cost him.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
When you look at East Grand Rapids in the score book,
they had a bad snap fumble recovered by the East
Grand Rapids defense early in the game. I mean like
first few plays seven to nothing. Then they also had
a punt blocked and they gave him a short field
where they only had to go twenty yards to score.
So there's fourteen to the twenty one points right there.
No discredit to East Grand Rapids. They gotta take advantage
of it. But wow, and now we see the Falcons

(41:01):
doing the same here. The second court snap is a
good one on the extra point attempt up and good
plenty of a leg we talked about land and Smith,
an outstanding kicker returning for West Catholic. He buries it
and with eight seventeen left to go first half, it's
now West Catholic fourteen South Christian nothing. We'll come back
to East Kentwick High School after this short time out.

(41:23):
As you're listening to the LMCU High School Football Game
of the Week, right here on ninety six to one
the game land and Smith kicks it deep for West
cathock Field on the fly by Eastern Rock the sophomore
for South Christian on the rhine. Hash at the four
brings it across to ten fifteen twenty and then snowed
under by a wave of white there at the twenty
two yard lilleby first in ten South Christians Well.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
The first drive was fourteen plays, five minutes and thirty
six seconds over eighty yards, a very long trip. Second
one was just to drive right down the road one plays,
seven seconds, thirty five yards, Greedy Augustin Dellhan Hunter touchdown
for the Falcons. Smith the bat fourteen to nothing in
favor of the Green and White.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
By the way, if you're wondering our Lake Shore Game
of the Week, brought to.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
You by Lake Michigan Credit Union tonight, we changed it
a week or so ago.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
And how about on the buy you tonight Reece Puffer
at Spring Lake.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Remember ree Buffer won that game after starting h to
two a year ago at home.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
First down and ten.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
That's on one oh seven m us the moose hand
off sophomore over the right side. Oh he was hitting
doubles back. It looked like he was gonna fall forward
to the twenty five nothing doing. They stop him like
he hit a stone wall to twenty four. So a
gate of two and that's it for Kyle mcliskey. Getting
good size for a sophomore. He's five nine five is
run the ball hard tonight. But that West Cathock defense

(42:41):
starting to pin their ears back.

Speaker 5 (42:42):
Kind of like when you're walking and then you start
talking to one of your kids behind you and then you.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
Run into the doorframe. That's what happened to Klisky there.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
Yeah, the doorframe is gonna win. Second down and eight
trips to the near side. Oh on Burgess. They gotta
try and get him going.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
He said.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
One nice catch across the middle. Second down and eight,
and you give Austin Burgess a little time here. Hand
off m kliskey left sign nothing doing. Great job in
the West Catholic defense.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Boy, if there was a crease there, it closed in
a hurry. As coming up, ju jump Jai Ill.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
They're leading tackler sixteen tackles coming in after a gain
of just a couple to actually no gain at the
twenty four. So third and eight coming up. But I
tell you what, Jaieel is a guy who just plays
downhill and then inside linebackersis.

Speaker 5 (43:32):
Well, the first drive very impressive and after that so
far too really lackluster performances. If you're South Christian, you
gotta find a way to get the first down here.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
Oh on Burgess wide right, they've got the wing back
stack that way now counteraction trying to throw and knocked
incomplete right in his face at time again coming off
the edge, Austin Burgess tried to plant and throw and
he ran into number fifty four Hunter Price, And I
tell you it's been either Hunter Price or Jack franz
Ac every time for West Catholic.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
Well, just a.

Speaker 5 (44:03):
Little bit of a slur developing play and franzik beats
his block and is able to shake it round.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
I mean it was set up.

Speaker 5 (44:10):
They had good protection there, but just we're just waiting
for that player to get downfield to whoever he was
looking for. And Franzis gets over, beats his block, gets around,
and then defeats the play and that's gonna lead to
another punt.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
Yeah, you got Price fifty four, franz Ac twenty four.
But you're right, it was the near sign franz Ac
with the knockdown fourth and eight, and again Burgess all
kick it away this time no one backed deep. Better
kick two hits it the thirty three, all great bounce
in favorite South Christian still rolling inside the fifteen. This
one's gonna get all the way down to the West
Catholic ten yard line before it's touchdown by Owen Burgess.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
So great john by Austin Burgess. There.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
That's how you want to flip the field if you
have to point if you're South Christian. And now defense
has to go back to work almost to the halfway
point in the second quarter, six twenty nine left to
go on this beautiful Friday night in West Michigan. Fourteen
West Cathay And how big would a score be here
for the Falcons of Landing Grove kind of going for
the juggular here in the second quarter.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
Well, this is a very critical drive for South Christian
defensively because number one, a great job by Burgess to
flip the field on the kick there. But now they
the defense has been out there for a long time
in this quarter.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
They have not had much rest.

Speaker 5 (45:22):
Even though they've had the short drive, They've been out
there pretty regularly.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
After the first offensive possession for South.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
Christian, Augustin out of the short shotgun one back to
his left, it'll hand off to on first and ten
from their own ten over the right side. On the
carry that time was Colin Abram, the junior running back. Again,
he'll rotate a with lit Schevsky, who's had a big
night already on the ground. Let's go to the rapid
radio scoreboard. Our own Eric Grasspan out watching this one.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
I knew he would.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
It's the Battle of Holland. On second down and six
after a gain of four this time stacked up better
right at the lounge by that South Christian defense, nowhere
to run for Abram. So third down and long coming up.
We like this game, bucks, you know, Holland Christian over
Holland fourteen to seven at the end of the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
So Eric will keep an eye on that.

Speaker 4 (46:13):
Courtesy avandal on Home Improvement here five forty and ticking
left to go. Now can South Christian defensively to your
point get off the field on third down?

Speaker 5 (46:21):
Well, that's what they're hoping for here, but you got
to get back there. Get pressure on Augustin. You guy
watch here Olshefski now splits.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
Out yeah five wide receiver set three to the right,
to the left. Augustin back to pass, stays in the
pocket across the middle. O Schefski on a crossing Rownie's
got the first down. Boy, you're right, he just has
that little extra burst of speed. It doesn't look like it,
and he scoots out across the twenty to the twenty
one move the chains first and ten.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
What a weapon.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
Catching the ball and running the ball number seven out
of the backfield for West Cathine.

Speaker 5 (46:50):
Well, he runs clear across the hashes. He starts out
split to the right of Augustin and he catches the
ball east of the fire hash there. That's a long route,
but that's a great job by ol Chef's get to
get open now.

Speaker 4 (47:03):
They swing it near side to him this time coming
out of the backfield. Tries to make the first man
miskits a couple extra yards. Not a huge game, they'll
give him out to It looks like the three yard
line now the twenty two gain of one second and nine.
Good job defensively on the stop. Jack Weiss, the linebacker
number seventeen mentioned halftime coming up, stay in the game.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
No matter what level of activity you they are.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
That's whole stepson physical therapy's job. Quick over the football,
going tempo. Now Augustin cross the middle of the field incomplete.
Good job defensively to challenge that one knocking away with
Brody Schiltz, the sophomore defensive back. He's going to be
a good one for South Christian as the intended receiver
was Thomas Pucksta for West Catholic.

Speaker 5 (47:50):
Another third down, you're by the way Christian. You want
to get off the field here, buckst a.

Speaker 4 (47:58):
Couple of touchdown passes coming in third down in long
Gustin rolling to his left, flu on the.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
Bucket, stepping in front Schiltz. He's gonna take a backup
pick six Johnny on the spot that time.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
How about number one, Brody Schiltz, he read it, stepped
in front, no one between him and the end zone
and easy picks six and South Christian gets on the
board with four twenty four left to go here before halftime.

Speaker 3 (48:22):
Well, and you feel like that one.

Speaker 5 (48:23):
Augustin kind of stares down the receiver just a little
bit too much. It sails on him a little bit also,
but Schiltz making a great break on the ball.

Speaker 3 (48:32):
Now.

Speaker 5 (48:33):
We saw that in the first drive where he made
the break late and they end up picking the first
down up and the end up scoring the touchdown right
after that. This time, he makes the break early and
steps right in front of the intended receiver, picks it
off and goes all the way.

Speaker 3 (48:49):
To the house.

Speaker 4 (48:50):
Got flushed out of the pocket a little bit rolling
to his left, felt some pressure, but not a wise
throw there by Augustin South Christian made him pay low snap,
but they get it down.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
Kick is on the way and it's up being good.

Speaker 4 (49:04):
Remember he missed a short field goal earlier, but Hudson Kurstetter, six,
one hundred and sixty five pound junior makes that one
to make it a seven point game.

Speaker 3 (49:12):
Four to twenty four left to go.

Speaker 4 (49:14):
First half of our score now reads West Catholic fourteen
South Christian seven. You're listening to a Week three edition
of the LMCU High School.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Football Game of the Week. Here on ninety six to one.
The game.

Speaker 4 (49:27):
So a pick six by the Sailors of South Christian
vying Brody Schultz, the sophomore attack on the extra point.

Speaker 3 (49:33):
And we got a whole new ballgame here.

Speaker 4 (49:34):
Fourteen to seven. Still West Catholic four to twenty four
left to go, first half, and now South Christian will
tee it up. Curstetter to approach high driving kick drives
a returnment back to the six yard line. On the
return ten across the fifteen to twenty up the middle
of the field, gets a block and a nice return
again out to the thirty.

Speaker 3 (49:56):
Five yard line.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
Owen Hunter, who's got a touchdown catch this evening to
the give him a return that time of twenty nine
yards first in ten West Kathigan. Now it's a matter
of Grady Augustin shaking it off. That's his fourth interception
of the season, you know, coming in Punchino. Not great
numbers for a returning quarterback as a senior. In the

(50:17):
fact that he had three touchdown passes, that's great, but
he also had three interceptions in two games.

Speaker 5 (50:22):
Yeah, and that's one that you're gonna gotta shake it
off here. If you're a veteran quarterback like Augusten, now
is you just gotta go out there and throw the
next one. You've got to trust not only yourself but
your teammates. And that's yes, that is a tough one
to have happened. But Grady knows that he's the leader
of this team or one of the leaders of this team,

(50:43):
and he's can't show anything here.

Speaker 4 (50:46):
Big hole up the middle of that time, Arrolzchewsky is
they went slot left, one receiver right, just a basic set,
no one home for South Christian. Great job of the
offensive line, and he's out across the midfield strife just
like that to the South Christian forty eight. Now the
Falcons play with Temple, they only have the chain set
across the way. I'm surprised they whistled that one in
to let him snap it hand off over the right

(51:07):
side and stop for no gain, They're gonna say at
the forty seven, I mean, they got to look over
as the officiating crew because they weren't even close to set.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Well, I mean, I understand Temple went hurry up over.

Speaker 5 (51:18):
The football, but well maybe Landon's like, well, we probably
could have taken a little.

Speaker 3 (51:22):
More time on that one.

Speaker 5 (51:22):
Yeah, no gain that time, and it just kind of
looks that they almost went too fast. Yeah there, Brett, Like,
I mean for the offense. Yeah, they the wine was
barely set, That's.

Speaker 3 (51:32):
What I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (51:32):
The Lades like, wait a minute, you give us a
chance here, Colin Abram by the way to carry for no.
Game two one receivers right, one to the left for
August at hand up Abram on that same play that
hit big. This time, better job of the South Christian
defense closed and as he crossed the forty five pushed.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
The pile forward to the forty two yard line. And
here we go again.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
It seems like all night long, West Catholic's been about
third and five, third and six. That's a matter of
can South Christian make a play? They certainly did last
time on the twenty nine yard pick six by Brody Shilt.

Speaker 5 (52:00):
Well, if you're gonna run a play, it's probably not
gonna be a long pass to the sideline.

Speaker 3 (52:06):
I'm gonna guess that one Ethan Gottlieber in the slot right.

Speaker 4 (52:12):
They also bring in Noah Gillespie and they'll send him
over on the tight end from left to right in motion.
Now the handoff Old Schefski over the left side inside
the forty is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
About a yard short. Bucks.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
You know that first down marker at the South Christian
thirty eight yard line, So fourth and one, I'm sure
Landing Grove gonna go for here.

Speaker 5 (52:30):
Boy, they kind of give him a rough spot there.
I thought he was much closer to the line of
the game. I mean, it's still gonna be fourth down,
but it's a whole three feet plus there. I thought
he was much closer. But like I said, either way,
they were gonna go for it here.

Speaker 4 (52:43):
And Gavin Bauma and Grayson Hunterman coming to that defensive
front for South Christian.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
They're stacking it up there.

Speaker 4 (52:48):
Six down linemen on fourth and one out of the
pistol formation Old Schefski and I don't know, no, I
don't think he's gonna get a buck. You know, Augustin's
trying to help push. No whistle yet, but boy, the
way the judges have lined up here.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
It's gonna be short.

Speaker 5 (53:01):
Well, Grady Augustin handed the ball off, and no, he
did not make it. He saw Oshewski struggling right and
he tried to go in there and give him a
little bit of a push, but it was way too late.
His forward progress had stopped. That's a huge turn of
events there, big big stand by South Christian, and I

(53:21):
think Wes Cathy, they're kind of shine itself in his
foot because that first play from tempo got nothing, and
then they just kind of set themselves behind the eight
ball right after that big run by Abrahm. They just
felt like they were out of sync. They were trying
to do everything all at once.

Speaker 4 (53:36):
So as the Falcon tush push the opposite of the
Eagles to just push, because that time you had the
quarterback pushing the running back right right.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
I thought it's the other way around. First down and
ten though, But Danny Brown, what do you say about
their defense?

Speaker 4 (53:47):
Likes their defense. They just made two big plays, a
pick six. Now they get a stop on a fourth
and one when Wes Cathick was driving. They take over
first down and ten from their own thirty eight. Owen
Burgess in motion from left to right. Some confusion and
Danny knew it. Oh, and this is where he gets hot.
Very calm coach normally, but he doesn't like mistakes and

(54:07):
when guys aren't focusing. Right now, he is staring down
his loan senior starter number two, Owen Burgess. I don't
know if Owen got caught up in what happened with
the defense or what, but he was not ready.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
He came out late, and then they send him in motion.

Speaker 5 (54:19):
Right well, they've had that a couple of times tonight
where they've sent somebody out and then we've had some
motion issues and guys really not setting and maybe not
being in the right spot. But you're right, Coach Brown,
he can handle guys.

Speaker 3 (54:33):
You know. Just if somebody beat you, they beat you.

Speaker 5 (54:37):
But let's not beat ourselves, right, And that's what he's
really mad about is that they go out there and
they came off the field. I mean, that's a turnover
on downs, that's a quick change for them. He wants
to kind of get them moving, get some momentum because
this is a twofer.

Speaker 3 (54:52):
Got the ball here.

Speaker 5 (54:53):
If you can score some points, you get the ball
right back to start the second half, so the Sailors
can make a.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Huge swing here. Seventh left to go. First half, fourteen
to seven.

Speaker 4 (55:02):
West cathp got South Christian with the football first and
ten a halfter the timeout, one receiver each way, Austin
burd just going up on the sideline too far out
of bounds trying to hit the sophomore Eastern Rock.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
Pretty good coverage over there. They had him bracketed.

Speaker 4 (55:14):
Second down and ten mentioned scores in more coming up
in a halftime with the host Jepson Physical every halftime show,
I owned Rick Burkey back in studio, your host.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
Game reports from all.

Speaker 4 (55:24):
Kinds of games like Uniti Christian and Forest Hills, Eastern
with Scott Moore, East Kentwin and Genesee with our newcomer
Remy Monaghan, Norfew and Sparted with Bo Hopson, Caledonia and Hudsonville.
Dan Hasty is out there, fresh off of the white
Caps Eastern Division Championship. He's to play by play voice.
So little baseball to football for Dan. You know they
play out in ten. They played football at West two.

(55:45):
We got Hurt and Shelby and Rockford Grand Haven. Don't
forget those guys. Two wide receivers to the right now
they want to go wide receiver first that way, and
Rock the sophomore makes a couple guys miss. He's explosive
in space. That's one of the explosive players Danny Brown
talking about. And he's into West Catholic territory finally dragged
down from behind it. The forty six of the Falcons
moved the chains first and ten.

Speaker 5 (56:06):
A big run there, sixteen for Rock and now South
Christian feels like they're rolling. The only downside for them
right now, they've only got the one time out remaining
because they've had to spend two earlier in this half,
so gotta watch out.

Speaker 4 (56:19):
For that first down and ten Owen Burgess wide right,
short side of the field. They worked for the right
hash one back in the backfield out of the short
shotgun Austin Burgess looking the way.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Of his cousin up top. He's got single coverage out there.

Speaker 4 (56:31):
Battle for the football and knocked away by the safety Oldshewsky.

Speaker 3 (56:35):
Boy, he was step for stepham. The corner let him go.

Speaker 4 (56:38):
So Austin Burgess run it like he was open and
then it was just fighting for the football and Olshewsky
knocked it away from Burgess at the five yard line incomplete.
So now you have second and ten coming up. And
by the way, already three touchdowns on the board for us.
Don't forget our Touchdowns for Kids campaign and it's fourth season,
so one hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
Donated in this game alone.

Speaker 4 (56:59):
We do it with the Lake Short game as well,
Thank you so much our friends at Lake Michigan Credit Union.
But coming into tonight, twelve hundred and fifty dollars already
donated in two weeks of play for the nine week
regular season from LMCU short slot to the right on
second and ten, two wide receivers, tight stack left to
the white side of the field as well back to pass.

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Burgess satisfires cross the middle, got his.

Speaker 4 (57:21):
Man complete inside the thirty five and he's got the
first down fighting down to the thirty one yard line.
I'll tell you what, Charlie Vermass has had a nice game.
Couple of big plays when they need it in long
down and distant situations.

Speaker 5 (57:34):
Well, he's caught the ball two times in the middle
of the field, so he's clearly their possession or go
to guy in crunch time and makes another fine catch.

Speaker 4 (57:44):
Big target sixty three to one to ninety and only
a junior trips left. Now they're going to swing it
out in the flats to the back and trying to
get a field but great open field tackle. I tell
you who's played a whale of a game tonight defensively,
how about Jack Franzak. Yep, he said pressure on the
quarterback makes the open field tackle against Niklitsky after a
short gain. Actually no gate second and ten.

Speaker 5 (58:05):
Actually that was a run play because they threw it
behind two wide receivers each way now welling to his
right under pressure throws across the boat line.

Speaker 4 (58:12):
Oh what a hit by Rock and old Shafsky is
gonna get a penalty. It was one of those. And
the problem with his helmet off is Eastern Rock is
it was late after the.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
Ball went through, and and Coach Grove is upset.

Speaker 5 (58:27):
And the reason he's upset now, of course it's the
penalty's upset, but because kanrae Ol Shelsey is not going
in there trying to hurt Eastern Rock. He's actually letting
up there a little bit. He's pursuing, he's not making
he's not lowering his head to hit, he's not coming
in to wrap around. They just kind of run into
each other a little bit there. But the problem is

(58:47):
you gotta stop. That's what I'm just saying. That's what
they're gonna say. It's not the fact that you made contact,
it's the fact that you didn't really avoid it either.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
That's that was just it.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
I like the way that you described that for people
who can't see it, Buck to you know, it was
it was a big hit. It wasn't where he didn't
lead with his helmet. I think it was with his shoulder,
so it would have been considered a clean hit. But
it was one of those where he slowed up a bit.
But I think the official are going to say you
didn't even need to hit him, you know, you can
just even roll off him a little bit.

Speaker 3 (59:13):
And he kind of followed.

Speaker 4 (59:15):
Through with that unless you put yourself in a situation
because Eastern Rock took a shot he is now well.

Speaker 5 (59:20):
And then the other thing too, is I mean we
see it at all levels of football now.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
I mean when we were kids that made the highlight.

Speaker 5 (59:26):
Oh absolutely, But that's a defenseless player with no expectation.

Speaker 3 (59:30):
Of getting hit right and again.

Speaker 5 (59:33):
And for his parents if they listened to this to
Mark Connor, I don't think you're a bad kid. I
don't think you didn't even try to do anything wrong. No,
he was actually trying to Like he wasn't trying to.
He didn't go as hard as he really could have.
But the problem, like I said, he just doesn't let
up enough. And because the content the ball is gone,
it's late, there's it's just it's safety. It's a safety thing, yep.

(59:55):
And the problem is you're gonna get that flag ten
times out of ten even if you don't try to
do it and Eastern Roc. Good to see him coming
back up now he probably we'll get to talk to
the trainers a little bit more in depth here.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
We hope he gets to return, but he'll go through
a concussion protocol, no doubt it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
Yeah, that's a tough one there. It's a tough penalty,
but it's a fair one. And what it also does
for the Sailors, now that everybody's back and looking good
here is it puts the ball inside the twenty and
it also stops the clock.

Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
Because it's inside of two minutes on a defensive penalty.

Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
Remember it was forty one to thirty eight in a
crazy game at West Cathy and favorite South Christian last year.

Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Remember we were zero zero after one.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
All twenty one points in this game have been scored
here in the second quarter and we're not done yet.
Forty four seconds left first half, South Christian in the
red zone, first down and ten after the penalty they
spotted at the fifteen of West Cathic out of the shotgun.
Burgess steps up under the pressure and goes down. He's
going to be dropped for a loss. Back of the

(01:00:54):
nineteen yard line and West Cathick did a great job.
Is they just collapsed the pocket or around him. And
the guy who's gonna get credit for the sack is
Colin Abram. Remember he's also their junior linebacker as well
as running back.

Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Well, the one thing we noticed about Austin Burgess is
he's not Carson Bis right, Okay, we all know that
throwing the football there we see the Carson Vis or
what Carson Vis last year would have done.

Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
He would have been running upfield.

Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
Austin Burgess tends to stay in that pocket earliest, tries
to stay there and make the throw, deliver the football
to the receivers. Hasn't really done that escape route yet,
hasn't really either it's a confidence thing or maybe something else,
whatever it is, he just has not run the football.

Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
He had a lot of room.

Speaker 5 (01:01:39):
Because if he's able to escape the pocket to his
right and get away to the sideline, there is nobody
over there. That's where in a West Catholic Jersey, and
he could have made a long run. But instead he
kind of gets hemmed in. And that's a quick decision
that you got to make, Brett. I mean, it's not
like you can sit there for an hour and think
about it. If he exits the and says I'm going

(01:02:01):
to run this football, he probably is still going. But
that's where we see the relative and experience of Burgess.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
Loss of four on the sack, second and fourteen, still
inside the twenty west cafing four wide receiver set one
back in the backfield, Burgess takes a snap across the middle,
got a man owing Burchas off his fingertips of the
goal line. That would have been six. He had a
step on his man Ol Chefsky on the coverage. That
was a pretty good throw. He got air underneath at
that time for Burchas. I think Owen Purchase has to

(01:02:29):
come down with that well, and he sails it just
a little bit. You're right, Owen Burgess.

Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
The rule is if you get your hands on it,
and you're the receiver, and he should hands on it.
He did get two hands on it. I think he
felt like he couldn't extend and dive for the ball.
He kind of like he was trying to stay on
the ground there. But either way, that's a tough play
because that would have been You're right, it would have
been a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
Liam Fian split wide right in here on third and long.
Burchas wants to air it out again, got a man
out there and it's complete for a touchdown. No flag
that have Fender fell down at the goal line. Yeah,
and Charlie Vermas just caught the little center field pop
to him as Austin Burgess airs it out to make
it a one point game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:03:10):
Coach Grove is standing out there and he's upset. But
I'll tell you right now, it looked like Jacob Petts
just kind of got his feet tangled there. It did
look like there was some contact, but Vermas didn't alter
his path. It looked to me like pets just kind
of got knocked down or maybe tripped over his feet

(01:03:31):
and Vermas just goes up for the easy score.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
I also look at the defender of that case and
he wasn't arguing yes to your point. So now to
try to even this thing up, believe it or not,
high snap, good job of getting it down, but it
affects the kick and he missed it low into the
left again. So still some problems on special teams as

(01:03:54):
far as field goal or extra point attaps cursed that
are no good. And with twenty six seconds left to
go here before half. Our score now reads West Catholic fourteen,
South Christian thirteen. We'll keep it right here again scores
and more. Our live game reporters coming up with the
host Jefson Physical Therapy halftime show.

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
I know Rick and the crew getting ready.

Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
We want to remind you to check out not only
for football, but for fall sports, Winter sports, Spring sports,
for the ok Conference, also for the Rivers Cities Alliance
West Michigan oksports dot Com. We partner with them once
again this year, Don Patten and his crew and it's
presented by Win Shulers football fans in Michigan. Win Sheeler's
chief spreads are likely the players on our home team.

(01:04:35):
Everyone has a favorite, so make sure you have all
four great flavors on hand for your parties or personal snacks.
That's Win Shueler's chief spreads. Trust me, your tailgate will
be that much better. And don't forget Calvin Football their
first ever on campus football.

Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
Game tomorrow right here on ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
Bop Sack will be on the call twelve forty five
pre game one o'clock after they put up eighty eight
points against Ottervine last week in their season opener on
the road.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
So home opener tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Looking forward to that, and they're gonna go up against
the team they almost beat on the road last year
in season one and Concordia University of Wisconsin.

Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
Well, a big day four of the Knights in Trent
fig and let's starting day as well as they get
to play the first game at their own on campus stadium.

Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
How cool is that they're actually gonna use the soccer stadium,
which is absolutely gorgeous. Curseedtor gets it legging to that
one received inside the tenth to nine, bring it across
the thirty, across the thirty five and another great return
out to the forty one yard line. Once again, maybe
gotta stop kicking it to Owen Hunter number five for
West Katholic on special teams. Great return there, and we'll

(01:05:46):
see what West Catholic does. They've got all three timeouts,
so twenty seconds left year before half.

Speaker 5 (01:05:52):
Well, they, as you mentioned, have three timeouts. Augustin does
have pretty live arm. He can get that ball downfield
in a hurry. The question is can they give him
the protection that he needs to be able to let
those guys get downfield thirty two.

Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
Yard return by Hunter, and now on first and ten,
drops back like he's gonna pass and then tucks it,
tries to run nothing doing against the South Christian defense.

Speaker 5 (01:06:16):
Out and that'll be d because coach Grove is very
upset as he's fighting with the headside over.

Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
There augusted that time, and just a quarterback keeper Dax Blackport,
the talented freshman for South Christian, drops them no gain
and that's gonna run out the block here in the
first half. Well, we thought it would be a good one.
We've got a good one at least after the first
twenty four minutes in this one. Our score at the
break in.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):

the River City's Alliance a couple half time scores. Cedar
Springs leads Greenville fourteen to seven, Allen Dale shutting out
Kenway Hills ten to nothing at the half. In that
one in the late second quarter, Coopersville fourteen, Lowell twelve.
Let's go to our first live report. We're gonna go

(01:07:49):
over to Forest Hills Eastern. Scott Moore standing by for
an update on the Unity Christian Forest Hills Eastern game.

Speaker 6 (01:07:54):
Scott reporting from Forest Hills Eastern High School. I am
Service Professor Scott One with a halftime update on the
Hulp Jepson Physical Therapy halftime Show. This report is presented
by Service Professor Eating Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. They'll fix
it in a snap here tonight. At halftime, the score
is Unity Christian twenty two for Sials Eastern seven. Unity

(01:08:18):
Christian bubbled on just the second play of the game,
gave four Stills Eastern the ball at the twenty yard line.
Four plays later, Jordan Chabanz rumbled in from three yards out.
Point after it was good. Eastern was up seven to nothing,
but the Crusaders struck back with three scores on their
next four possessions. First off, there was a twenty eight

(01:08:39):
yard touchdown run by Lucas Elliott, the two point conversion
no good. Then a twenty nine yard pass from Justin
Phoebus to Hudson Dirks. That time the two point was
good by Phoebus made it fourteen to seven Unity Christian.
Then right before halftime, the Crusaders scored on a ten
yard pass from Phoebe to Levi Butler. Again two point

(01:09:02):
conversion was good and that brings us to our halftime
scorer Phoebus by the way, perfect four for four in
the air for eighty nine yards and two touchdowns. Lucas
Elliott with seven carries for eighty six yards in a
score for Unity Christian one more time. Our halftime score
in Forest Hills Eastern's Fox Stadium is Unity Christian twenty

(01:09:25):
two for Stills Eastern seven from Forest Stills Eastern High School.
I'm Service Professor Game Reporter Scott Moore.

Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
Okay red opener Rockford at grand Haven at the home
of the Buccaneers. Our Lucas symbol is there. He files
a live report right now.

Speaker 7 (01:09:37):
Lucas hey Rick reporting from Grand Haven High School. This
is Service Professor Game Reporter Lucas Symbol with a halftime
update for the Hultz Jefson Physical Therapy halftime show. This
report is presented by Service Professor Eating Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical.
He'll fix it in a snap here tonight. At halftime,
the score is Rockford thirty five Grand Haven ten. Rockford

(01:09:58):
quarterback brain And Daniel has thrown four touchdown passes in
the first half and he ran for another twelve yard
score as the Rams have scored touchdowns on all five
of their drives and have rolled up three hundred twenty
seven yards of total offense in the first half. Daniels
have thrown for two hundred and twenty four yards, completing
all eight of his passes, and he threw long scoring
strikes to Jack Zeigbauer, Bryce Hearing, Owen Hull and Dylan Gross.

(01:10:20):
Will Plumber did hit a thirty seven yard deal goal
for grand Haven and kav Kerns did break free for
our eighty eight yard touchdown run. But right now it's
all Rams at halftime as Rockford leads thirty five to
ten over grand Haven. Here at the half from grand
Haven High School. This is Service Professor Game reporter Lucas.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
Cimble, Thank you Lucas Northew and Sparta. A battle of
two and ozer teams playing played at the home of
the Spartans are Bow. Hobson's there Bow, what do we
got bye?

Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
Guys?

Speaker 8 (01:10:47):
Reporting from Sparta High School. This is Service Professor Game
reporter Bo Hobson with a halftime update for the haul
S Jepson Physical Therapy halftime show. This report is presented
by Service Professor Eating Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. They'll fix
it in a snap score here tonight, guys from Spartan Field.
At the half our correction, we're one minute away from
the half. It is thirty five nothing in favor of

(01:11:09):
the North Few Wildcats. And it was a bit of
a slobby start tonight. Both teams trading interceptions to start
the game and we were actually scoreless until less than
two minutes left in the first quarter. But then Northview
came alive broke the scoring drought when quarterback Brayln Jefferson
connects the tight end Jack Van Troyen for a five
yard touchdown strike and the two point conversion was successful,

(01:11:32):
making it an eight nothing ballgame. Then we jumped to
the second quarter and Northview really started to open things up,
leading fifteen nothing. Braylan Johnson Brayln Jefferson lofted a perfect
and I mean perfect throw down the middle of the
field to a j Johnson. He catches it without having
to break stride and took it to the house for
a seventy six yard touchdown and gave Northview a twenty

(01:11:55):
two to nothing lead. And then guys, right before I
went on, we had another big touchdown. It was Northview's
Jalen Gant. He took a fifty five yard run all
the way to the house untouched and the point after
was good to make it thirty five nothing here with
again about forty five seconds until the half. So again

(01:12:15):
score here tonight thirty five nothing Northview over Sparta and
reporting from Sparta High School. This is Service Professor Game
reporter Bo Hopson.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
All right, thanks Bill, great to have you with us
once again. We've got two more live reports coming up.
Stay with us, back with more here on the Holst
Jepson Physical Therapy Halftime show halftime Our ninety six to
one Game of the week West Catholic fourteen, South Christian thirteen,
A good one battle of unbeatens in Hudsonville High School
tonight Caledonian Hudsonald square. Enough our Dan Hasty is there
with a live report now, Dan.

Speaker 9 (01:12:46):
Thank you ed reporting from Hudsonville High School. This is
Service Professor's Game Reporter Dan Hasty with a halftime updates
its report presented by Service Professor Heating, Cooling, plumbing, and electrical.
They'll fix it in a snap. Here tonight his halftime.
The score twenty one six in favor of Hudsonville. A
couple of key plays so far this game has been

(01:13:07):
changing very fast here tonight the story for Caledonia. Junior
quarterback Bryce Beck is unable to make the start out
today to give the keys to QB. Conlin Schultz. Hudsonville
got on the board with the store late. In the
first first play of the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Brydon
dan Lake, doing his best Service Professor impression, he plunges
in from one yard out fourteen nothing Hudsonville. Later in

(01:13:30):
the quarter, Schultz throws up a prayer. Aaron Collins answers
it ninety six yards for the score.

Speaker 7 (01:13:37):
The pat goes point.

Speaker 9 (01:13:38):
Last play at a half, cal takes the clock all
the way down for one last play. They throw up
another prayer, but this time Hudsonville's waiting for it. Stadendis
Terra picks six forty five yards again at the half.
Here at Hudsonville. Twenty one six Eagles over Caledonia with
Service Professor game reporter and Rick Burkey's personal bodyguard Dan Hasey.

Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
All right, thanks Dan, great job.

Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
Another battle of two and oero teams East Kentwood and
Jennison squaring off, and our Remy Monahan was there. She
files this live update from Jennison.

Speaker 10 (01:14:08):
Remy hey Rick reporting from David McKenzie Stadium and Jennison
High School. This is the Service Professor game reporter Remy
Monaghan with a halftime update for the Hurst Jepson Physical
Therapy halftime show. This report presented by Service Professor Heating
Cooling comming an electrical meltic fit in a snap East
Kentwood with the lead here as the break twenty six
to seven. But this was a slow start, not what

(01:14:29):
I was expecting. Jennison had the chance to score on
their opening drive, but back to that passes were broken
up by the Ek defense and they ended up all
with blocking a punt on that drive. They traded possessions
with the rest of the quarter. Kent Wood started the
second quarter with a short touchdown run thanks to the
handoff from Kaid Kaufman over Tom the Year Williams put
the Falcons on the board seven zips. The first play
of the next rife for Jennison, Brody skidehim made taste

(01:14:51):
it to the house seventy seven yards, tying things up
at seven all, but the Ek offense would just bust
up the team after this one. Three straight touchdowns from
Stephen Jones, another one from the Seer Williams and Daviian
Nettleman k was the lead over Jennison twenty six to seven.
Right now at the half from Jennison High School. That's
a service, professor, came reporter running on again.

Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
All right, thanks remy great job on that. Some other
scores we want to give you our Lake Shore game
of the week on one O seven m us Reese
Puffer and battling spring Lake is a good one. They're
ree S Puffer twenty eight, spring Lake twenty one. Holland
Christian leads Holland in the Battle of the Tulip City teams.
They're twenty seven to seven in favor of the Maroons
of Holland Christian, Wyoming and Ottawa Hills tied at six
and the second half. Catholic Central leads Jackson Leuwan Christie

(01:15:35):
in Jackson twenty one seven Cougars in that one. Here's
kind of a surprising score. Whitehall twenty one, Zealand West
Nothing that game being played in Zealand tonight. Also some
other halftime scores Gobrein Heist Leeds comstock Park twenty four
to twenty one on that one, and Granville over West
Ottawa by account of nineteen to eight at the half

(01:15:56):
and one other scorer a second quarternoid. They just went
to the half. Four Shills Northern twenty one and four
Shills Central three. Speaking of four Shills Northern, there'll be
my guest this Monday on the Pigskin Party from Fox
Subaru on twenty eighth Street.

Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
So join us.

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Coach Edtiasapo and the Huskies will join me Monday night
at six here on ninety six to one. We'll head
back out to East Kentwo High School, the site of
our ninety six to one game of the week, West
Catholic and South Christian battling West Catholic clinging to a
one point lead.

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Here's bread, Bakita and Buckshino.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
All right, thank you, Rick Burkeye, appreciate that, and don't forget.

Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
When we're all said and done here at Falcon Stadium,
and of course the Lake Shore crew with their game,
we will team up again.

Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
And bring you the Myers Scoreboard show.

Speaker 4 (01:16:36):
Rick Burki'll talk Tory coaches on the winning side, maybe
a player or two, and obviously all the scores, live
game reports and more that's coming up in the Meyer
Scoreboard show once we're done here tonight at Falcon Stateium
in East Kentwood. Our score at the break, West Catholic fourteen,
South Christian thirteen. Both teams have made their way out
of the plane surface to warm up and buck Gina,

(01:16:57):
let's go to you with that first half scoring recap
brought to you by MKD Feuderal Homes every story, every moment,
every day, with eight locations to serve you.

Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
And the funny thing is Partner.

Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
It was zero zero after the first twelve minutes, all
the scoring coming to that second quarter.

Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
Wait, you ruined my surprise, you took away my That
was the first thing I was gonna say. Well, yeah,
so excuse me all In the second quarter, West Catholic
went up fourteen to nothing. Two scores kinra Olshewsky and
then Augustin to Owen Hunter, then South Christian right back

(01:17:33):
boy the biggest play, excuse me, Brody Schultz a twenty
nine yard interception returned for a touchdown. And then at
the end of the half, Burgess of Vermas and that's
where we stay in fourteen to thirteen.

Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
All right, so fourteen thirteen members South Christian won the toss.
They deferred the second half, So the Sailors will start
with the football. Injury update, We did not see him
come back after he shook up Jesse, the starting running
back for South Christian. It doesn't appear at least from
what we saw, that he might be back tonight, but
we'll wait and see. To start the second half, of course,

(01:18:09):
they rotate two guys, so Kyle Nichlisky is gonna have
to go the rest of the way for South Christian.
But that defense has showed up and as Bunka alluded to,
that pick six really got him going. That's the first
half scoring summary, brought to you by MKD Funeral Homes.

Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
Every story, every moment, every day.

Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
You can find out everything, pre planning, pricing, location near
you just go to mkdfuneral Home dot com. That's mkdfuneral
Home dot com. So if you're Danny Brown and South Christian,
you gotta be happy where you're at and you're gonna
start the second half with the football. Let's go to
our Vandelon homprooming keys to the second half. Buck, how
big is this opening drive for South Christian?

Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
Well, a huge swing.

Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
As I was talking to South Christian athletic director David
Coolan sidelines between halves. I mean you get the ball
to end the first half, you score points, and then
you get the ball back to start the second half
with momentum, huge swing for the Sailors. The keys to
the second half. I think for the Sailors they still
they got to get some continuity on offense. They had

(01:19:06):
two good drives, but they had three real bad ones,
so they got to kind of find that middle ground.
If you're Wes Catholic, we should probably stop giving the
other team the ball. I mean Landon Grove is just
beside himself, not only because of some penalties, but.

Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
Also because of the turnovers.

Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
You feel like if west Kenfick could avoid that, this
game would not be fourteen thirteen, it would probably be
a wider margin.

Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
So Landon Smith teas it up and he will kick
towards the south end zone. So west Cathock moving left
to Roddy E. Rado Donald to start this second half.
He kicks it over the head of Owen Burgess and
into the end zone for an automatic touchback. So out
comes the offense. Let's take a look at your sporting
to you starting lineups in the second half and offensively
not a Ton. For South Christian, they did have a
really promising opening drive you talked about, but then kind

(01:19:50):
of stalled out, missed a field goal, but Austin Burgess
leads him out. It's a junior Layton starting bunch on
the offensive, not only one senior starter, and that is
the wide receiver number two one and Burgess seven catches
two hundred and two yards two touchdowns coming in again
with vandergrend Out. Then you go to the sophomore running back,
but you got Rignaldy, Labazoo, Gritter, Hunderman, and Jones up front.

(01:20:13):
Eastern Rock got shooken up, but he was out there
to receive the second half kickoff, does have his helmet on,
so good news there, avoiding maybe a serious injury to him.

Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
For South Christian, well, I think the depth at running
back now with they're back up in Nklinsky, that's where
they're gonna see the most of the drop off.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
And they hand off to the sophomore number twenty eight
over the left side on first and ten.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Nice push by that offensive line.

Speaker 4 (01:20:38):
All junior starters up front for Danny Brown as we
mentioned in the opening, and a pickup of three there,
second and seven, upcoming.

Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
And how I mean that is.

Speaker 5 (01:20:45):
I mean, Kyle Leklinsky does a pretty good job in
the first half. The problem is now there's no way
back there. I mean there is, there's some guy. There's
somebody back there, but they're probably not gonna put him
in too much. So it's gonna be nikolins Key for
the rest of the way. They're gonna have to try.

Speaker 4 (01:20:59):
To keep him fresh burgess out of the short shotgun handout. Nikliskey,
Oh stuck up as he got to the line of scrimmage.
Great job by the pursuit. Their linebacking corps we talked
about so good. That was Colin Abram, number forty three,
and he got him for no gain, maybe lost a
half yard. This linebacking corps will swarm. Abron is the
will linebacker, a junior. Then you've got Jai eel Ju,

(01:21:21):
Jim Sam linebacker. They're leading tackler coming in, Max Wildman
a senior, Noah Gillespie a senior.

Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
And how about the two defensive ends.

Speaker 4 (01:21:30):
They've been fantastic on both sides, Hunter Price and then
the guy who right now would be my Monto Construction
defensive player of the game, Jack Fransick. Has been in
the backfield all night.

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
He's had a heck of a game. So I fire,
let's see if they send him off the edge.

Speaker 4 (01:21:41):
Here two wide receivers tight right, one to the left
back to pass. Burgess pocket breaks down a round and
takes a shot delivers a strike. Though to guess who
for Moss close to that first down MARKO to thirty.
I think they're gonna get him the spot to get it. Yep,
Charlie ver Moss has been the go to guy in
the clutch in credit Austin Burgess. He stepped up in
the pocket, took the shot as he delivered a strike

(01:22:02):
for a first down to Vermas.

Speaker 5 (01:22:04):
Well, i'd call him like West with Elker or Cooper cut,
but they're not six foot three, so I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
I gotta figured about this for a little bit. But
uh boy, I want to catch there by Vermas. And
now they go back to m Klipsky on first down.

Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
And he gains no yardage second down in ten is
again I look for West, Cathy. They're rotating fresh bodies
in on this warm night, especially up front, as they'll
rotate in the big fellow number seventy one.

Speaker 5 (01:22:34):
I'm just gonna mention that Tim, not like Jacob Timmer,
can really hide anywhere. But this is his first appearance
on the other side of the football tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:22:45):
Liam Fying split wide right by himself, slot to the left,
the white side of the field for Austin Burgess on
second and ten, working doing thirty showing Blitz West Cathoy
gonna come hand off nowhere to go. He's gonna be
swarmed to the backfield. Timmer was right there. Evntally, the
big fella just sealed the edge. That wildman finished him
off as they trying to go back to Niklitsei le

(01:23:09):
Klitzky and he loses three yards back to the twenty seven.

Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
We're gonna get plenty of practice of Niklitzky because he's
the only guy who's gonna run the football, probably for
the balance of the night for the Sailors. Tough break
for vandergrind as he has not returned. I don't see
him on the sideline yet. But well, at this time
at third and thirteen, we're not gonna have to worry
about Nikolinsky running the football here.

Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
This is a sure pass situation.

Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
I see him there right there with his helmet off.
He's limping right in front of us. But you're right,
O're taking his helmet away, so doesn't look like he's
back for the night. Third and thirteen across the middle
behind his intended receiver. Now a helmet comes flying off
aligneman from South Christian. I don't know what happened there,
but ohen Bert just not happy with this con cousin
Austin is he was way behind him in that throat.

(01:23:54):
He was open near the first down marker.

Speaker 5 (01:23:56):
Well, and now the first half Wayndon Grove was at
the end of the first half, he had a little
powwow with the officials and what's animated is probably the
word I'm gonna use. And then now Danny Brown's like, well,
see our player had a helmet and then it landed
over here and he's still over there.

Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
Yah.

Speaker 4 (01:24:14):
Was that night a penalty and Rignalda had to come
out yep for this place because he lost his helmet.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Because it's not a foul, right, he's got to leave
the game.

Speaker 4 (01:24:22):
And it's fourth and thirteen. Now they're gonna drop back
into short punt formation. We saw this bird just just
gonna kick it away, and they do have a man
back deep standing to field that at the thirty four
comes near side of the thirty five trying to break
a tackle. Does Olszewski get to the outside and he's
just like that into South Christian territory the forty nine
yard line. What a return that time, seventeen yards by Olszewsky,

(01:24:47):
the senior number seven, first and ten West Catholic. Again,
they'll start a quarter with this opening offensive possession with
a short field. Yeah, this one right on the midfield straight.

Speaker 5 (01:24:58):
But they've had multiple possessions that have been well out
into not only their own territory, but even into Plus
territory a couple of times. So great field position again
for the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
Augustin back to work now, play fake rolls to his left,
throws into flats, got his man, makes a man miss,
turns it up field on the far sideline. Got a
first down down inside the forty and here the thirty
five yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
Easy pitch and catch.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
I like the fluidness of that play, and it was
cal Peterson on the receiving end that time. Augustin has
him moving again first and ten.

Speaker 5 (01:25:34):
Well, they faked the run the jet to Peterson and
then what that does is it freezes the linebacker and contained,
because now you've got a guy who running out in
the pattern, his coverage has to stop and then he
is able to get outside.

Speaker 4 (01:25:49):
First down in ten from the South Christian thirty five.
They'll hand it off this time out of the pistol
formation over the left side as they on pile.

Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
At the thirty two yard line line.

Speaker 4 (01:26:02):
On the carry. That time again they rotated. It was
Colin Abram, the junior. They gave a pickup just short
of three, just outside the thirty two of South Christian.
So second and a long seven coming up one back
in the backfield. A gustant hands off to him. That's
Olschevsky back in. Then no, it's Abram breaks the tackle,
bounce to the outside. He's got a wave of blockers
inside the twenty down inside the fifteen, rambles down and

(01:26:24):
finally knocked out of hounds near the ten yard line.
What a nice cupback broke a tackle and then no
one was home defensively for South Christian. And a great
run by the junior Colin Abram.

Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
I mean they were.

Speaker 5 (01:26:36):
Home, but then they thought they had him down, so
they stopped running. And then Abram just keeps pumping his
feet out of the tackle and then gets to the
outside and then there's just nobody there to help him.

Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
Got to come in and rally to the ball.

Speaker 5 (01:26:51):
If you're South Christian, can't wait for one guy to
make the tackle on these talented backs.

Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
They mark him down to the nine first and goal
to nine hand off. Olszewsky's already got one rushing touchdown
to Night from eight yards out and that went close
knock down at the one seconding goal coming up. And
let's see if West Cathay goes a little tempo here.
How about the run of twenty by Abram. Now they
come back with the hammer old Schefsky. South christ has
defender coming down late. He never got on side and

(01:27:16):
a second they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
Blow this one.

Speaker 5 (01:27:18):
Well, what that is is because it's offside, it's a
dead ball foul. So even though in high school he's
coming off the field, he's still in an offside position, right.

Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
And so that's why if I.

Speaker 5 (01:27:30):
Was a coach and I was on the one yard line,
I might just keep doing that, right, because it's only
one and a half feet at most for the penalty,
and because it kills the play. They were trying to
get bigger personnel in there and it's legal substitution.

Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
That's a long way over there, and you're right South
Christian half. The distance to the goal about a foot
and a half seconding goal coming up for West Cathock. Boy,
after the stop to start the half, how big would
this score be for West Catholic?

Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
I mean, if I'm greedy Augusta and there, I wait
till right when that guy breaks the land of scrimmage,
then snap.

Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
It one wide receiver each side, hand off, Olshefsky over
the right side, lowers his shoulder and takes it into
the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
Touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:28:15):
That's old Schevsky's second rushing touchdown of the night. How
about number seven Conra Olszewsky, this time from just inside
the one.

Speaker 5 (01:28:24):
Well, I mean he was either gonna get in from
one yard or a one or a half yard either way.
But he runs out there and again, Brett, he takes
a little bit of time to get out there, and
it doesn't look like he's gonna get in, and all
of a sudden he's three yards upfield.

Speaker 4 (01:28:41):
He's just a tough ombre to bring down. He squares
on his shoulders. Tough kid, O snap and penalty flags.
It can't boy, special teams have not been pretty.

Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
On either side of the football tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:28:53):
I think this one's gonna be a procedure, Yeah, procedure
penalty on West Catholic and movement up front. Coach Grove
out there trying to get them to settle down a
little bit here.

Speaker 4 (01:29:08):
The lead is seven right now, they're gonna try to
make it an eight point game of their traditional kick
now with the penalty backing them up.

Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
Landon Smith has plenty of leg plenty. I mean, the
range is not a problem for Randon.

Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
This will be like a twenty five yard field goal,
but it's gonna be an extra point.

Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
Out of the hole of Peterson.

Speaker 4 (01:29:27):
Snap a little off again, gets it down, great job,
but that throws off the time and and he pulled
it left. Like I said, it has not been pretty
on special teams on both sides, and so is seven
to ten left to go into third. Our score remains
West Catholic twenty South Christian thirteen. You're listening to a
Week three edition of the LMCU High School Football Game

(01:29:47):
of the Week live on this Friday night here on
ninety six to one. The game well, the one yard
touchdown plunged by West Catholic's Connor Olschewsky. The extra point
no good means another touchdown for kids to help benefit
Kids Food Basket. A fifty dollar donation will be made
by Lake Michigan. Credit is to kick by Landon Smith
taking down the fly, coming near side with a lot

(01:30:09):
of speed and good to see him back in there
across the twenty five and he's out across the thirty
to the thirty one yard line. The young sophomore been
speeds to Eastern rock on the return after a good
deep kicking, he tried to cough and corner him a
little bit on the farce.

Speaker 3 (01:30:25):
Nice job by rock to beat the contained.

Speaker 5 (01:30:27):
Well and also a good job by the South Christian
kickoff cover or their kickoff return team. They opened up
a nice lane there for him to go against the
current of the West Catholic kickoff team because Landon Smith,
like you said, tried to cough and corner him in there.
But then they're able to blow up in a lane
for him, and he made a nice return.

Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
Said Rocker was down to thirty, so it'll be first
in ten there and Birds' quick fire a little pop
pass in the middle of that defense looking for his
tight end and he's got the freshman that's Blackpoor a
curl route for a short game to the thirty four,
second and six upcoming for South Christian.

Speaker 5 (01:31:05):
I mean, I know, and I saw Carson biss earlier
down there visiting. There's not a shortage of tall guys
in the South Christian football program that catch the ball.
I mean, Dax's Blackport six foot four, Vermas six foot three.
I mean, you're not going to miss these guys. But
he's a freshman, he's he's built salad. I mean, he
took a pretty good hit there, and the ball he

(01:31:26):
didn't even think about dropping him trips right owen Burtis.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
They motioned back to the middlefield.

Speaker 4 (01:31:31):
Now back, and they run Austin Burns away from that
as he takes a shot after he crossed the line
of scrimage of the thirty five and was hitting back.

Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
That's wildman, yep.

Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
And I tell you what, he runs wild in that
secondary and comes up to hit one of the linebacker
slash safeties, if you will, also in there defensively on
the stop four West Catholic.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
Was Yon ju Jem. You know they bring in as
a defensive line rotation.

Speaker 5 (01:31:56):
Play well that's a great pursuit by Wildman there, because
he's on the other He starts on the other side
of the football. He starts on the not the play side.
He comes all the way across and Burgess thinks he's
kind of picked his way through.

Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
And then Wildman just late in the gap gives him
a shot.

Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
Only game of two sets up third and four West
Catholck showing pressure. Now they come out of blitz. Look
out Burgess gotta get rid of it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
Throws it.

Speaker 4 (01:32:18):
Complain god is man. That's Owen Burgess his cousin for
a first down. Good job coming back to the football.
They read the blitz, so they shorten their routes and
a nice connection on the third down conversion from Austin
Burgess to Owen Burgess out to the forty three on
line first and ten.

Speaker 5 (01:32:35):
Well maybe if they have a guy almost kill his cousin,
that's when they're gonna connect.

Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Boy, they were coming over West.

Speaker 5 (01:32:44):
Austin Burgess was like, please, somebody catch this because I
am not gonna hold onto this thing. And that's a
great throw there, and like you said, a great job
by Owen cuts through out short a little bit, sees
his quarterbacks in trouble, just gets to the football, gets
to the sticks and makes the cat ships to the
right watch side of the field.

Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
They worked for the left hash first in ten from
their own forty two. Burgess back to pass one on
one coverage going over the top Rocks the.

Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
Death of twenty makes the Cats inside the ten and
just tripped up.

Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
Trying to take it to the end zone down at
the five yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:33:15):
Well that's what they've been looking for, those big players
over the top.

Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Good throw by Burgess, aired it out of an eastern
Rock did the rest?

Speaker 5 (01:33:22):
I mean, it's a simple two man route to the outside.
Rock just beats this guy up top and they didn't
have the help over the top. And then there's a
great dropping the bucket by Burgess.

Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Now they're going temple themselves. South. Christian runs down.

Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
The field, quick taple over the football, first and goal
from the five handoff left side, trying to get there.

Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
Not gonna do it, boy, I tell you what. Who
else is playing well?

Speaker 4 (01:33:46):
Colin abram As a linebacker and running back as he
just up ends trying to go the short sign of
the field.

Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
Quick the sophomore Niklitzky.

Speaker 5 (01:33:56):
Second and goal from the five well and Nikolitzky just
it's kind of a tough spot because really, other than
Burgess running the one time, it's it's going to be
the running back tote in the rock and they kind
of have to show their hand there.

Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
They ran tempo.

Speaker 5 (01:34:12):
I thought maybe they would try to little fade route
to Vermas in the corner, but looks at they got
him double covered.

Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Now Nikliskey to the left of Austin Burgess, they want
to throw to them into flats, makes the catch, dives
for the goal line touchdown. Kyle ni Kliskey out of
the backfield from Austin Burgess, so they go through the
air and until one point game again twenty to nineteen,
with four thirty one left or going to third.

Speaker 5 (01:34:37):
They just felt so terrible for Kyle because he's having
a hard time. He's taking some shots football, Like, you
know what, how about we just run you out in
the flat, get you on the linebacker because you got
some speed, and then we'll just throw the ball up
and let you catch it there.

Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
And that's a really nice play and also.

Speaker 5 (01:34:54):
A good job by Nikoliskey to get into the end zone,
kind of falling over just as he catches it was
able to extend the ball over.

Speaker 3 (01:35:01):
The goal line.

Speaker 4 (01:35:03):
Curse Stetter. Now it's been a roller coaster rode on
special teams. We'll try to convert here. Let's se if
they can get a good snap, they do, they get
it down. Kick is on the way. Looks much better
and result much better. It's good and we've got a
tie ball game with four to thirty one left to
go in the third quarter. West Catholic twenty, South Christian twenty.

(01:35:23):
You're listening to a Week three edition of the LMSCU
High School Football Game of the Week live here.

Speaker 3 (01:35:28):
On ninety six to one. The game.

Speaker 4 (01:35:31):
What a crazy ballgame here at Falcons Stadium on East
Kentwood High School's campus. Bret Pikia along with bung Gino,
welcome back in twenty twenty. Our score recamp that Sailor
scoring drive with four to thirty one left to go.
Tack on the extra points which had become big here
as we're tied now at twenty. Good kickoff, driving the
man back inside the five at the four, across the

(01:35:53):
fifteen and not much more running room as he stopped
at the twenty one yard line on the return earned
that time was Cal Peterson for West Catholic. Better job
by the South Christian kickoff team covering the kick that time.
But let's go back to that Sailor scoring drive that
tied this thing up.

Speaker 5 (01:36:12):
But six plays, two minutes and thirty nine seconds, seventy
yards traveled. Obviously, the bulk of that on the fifty
two yard connection from Burgess to Rock. But Kyle mcliskey
touchdown passed from Ustin Burgess to pat is good, and
we're tied at twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:36:27):
Send a man in motion slot right, moving to the
left and they'll hand off underneath it and the South
Christian defense but remember the said defense that Danny Brown
really likes.

Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
They got more seniors on that side of the football game.
Have just won that time.

Speaker 5 (01:36:42):
I mean, you're gonna have to get like those like
the chairs in WWE to bring you gotta like hammer
him with the folding chair.

Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
He just does not like to touch the ground.

Speaker 4 (01:36:52):
S drive started at the twenty one on the kick return,
so just a gain of one of the twenty two.
They're second to nine by Olchevsky rolling in at four.
It's left to go third quarter. Now the loop motion
and man and swinging out to him with the flats.
That's Peterson has a connection. He's been kind of a
go to receiver tonight for Augustin. But a good job
by the South Christian defense and coming up with a
play that time defensively was Caleb Winnikee.

Speaker 5 (01:37:17):
Well, and that's a really good job of blocking by
Owen Hunter on the outside. Even better job of Winnikey
coming in from pursuit. Again, he's in the middle of
the field. He's got different responsibility. He reacts quickly though,
as soon as he sees the ball get out of
Augustin's hand, rallies to the point and is able to
bring him down for a short game.

Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
Another big third and seven coming up here, West Catholic
landing grove. Now sickly than the play they'll change at
the line of scrimmage as Augustin backed away.

Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
Well, now some motion.

Speaker 5 (01:37:47):
That's on the other side. I think that was groveling.
He tried to pass it off it No, it just
does a fly on my shoulder.

Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
Snide. Didn't false start, I'll tell you what though.

Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
This big South Christian fan base and a huge crowd
here tonight. Beautiful night for football. Good crowd across the
way for West Catha getting fired up with this defense
now because that was gonna be third and seven.

Speaker 3 (01:38:11):
Now it's third and twelve with penalty.

Speaker 5 (01:38:12):
And I think if you're South Christian, now you feel
like you continue years back.

Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
On third and twelve trips to the left.

Speaker 4 (01:38:18):
One receiver Ryane crossing Rounde Augustin steps into his throw
incomplete great timing to knock it away, and it was
Brody Schultz again, Oh, they gonna throw a penalty flat
they are.

Speaker 6 (01:38:28):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:38:29):
I thought that was pretty good timing as he came
in to knock it away as the ball was coming
in that time to Thomas Putsta, well, boy.

Speaker 3 (01:38:39):
It it happened all at once and we're not standing
on the field. Danny Brown Campe coaches have had well.

Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
And I think I think the contention is that he
feels like Landon might have bought one there because they're
the reaction. The raft was digging for the flag as
soon as the contact was made. But it's a's a
tough one because here's the thing. If they do I
don't throw the flag, the other guy's gonna be upset.
And you could also reason with that too. I mean,
that's just a tough that's a fifty to fifty call

(01:39:07):
that doesn't go your way.

Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
If you're Danny Dwell, I'd have to say one. I'd
have to say that's a tough one for Southeast. It is.

Speaker 4 (01:39:13):
I thought for Jilsa had good timing, saw the ball
coming in play on Picha. I don't disagree. I just
believe the officials sees the content we're up here. Maybe
he sees a little bit of contact before we do.
Two wide receivers right, one to the left, play action
now cross the middle, got his man in stride, cross
the midfield, stride.

Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
This one's gonna be a big game. You're first down
and more for West Athletic.

Speaker 4 (01:39:37):
Finally whipped down at the forty two yard line and
he goes back to who.

Speaker 3 (01:39:41):
Else but Owen Hunter.

Speaker 4 (01:39:42):
If it hasn't been Peterson, it's most likely been Hunter
with a little bit of pucks to mixed in there.

Speaker 5 (01:39:48):
And Coach Brown is saying, you know, we had him
stopped and they're inside territory now. But you also got
to gather the troops here and say, hey, look that
one goes against this.

Speaker 4 (01:39:57):
He's agree with you, by the way, partner, he keeps
pointing over like, hey, did Landon get that one. You know,
what are you guys calling there? First down in ten
Luke motion up top, Augustin's got a man wide open
at the five yard line, touchdown. West Catholic broken coverage
in the secondary by South Christian and he went up
top of the home run ball and coming down with

(01:40:20):
it was cam In Body for West Catholic for six.

Speaker 5 (01:40:24):
Well Endbody his first catch of the contest, and it's
a big one and it's a tough break for South
Christian because they had the ball. They were going to
get the ball back and instead, in two more plays
after the penalty and covering sixty seven yards, it's a

(01:40:44):
touchdown for West Catholic.

Speaker 3 (01:40:46):
So Augustin de Hunter forty two.

Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
Yards tack got the extra point which is up and
now good by number fifteen senior kicker Landon Smith. And
what a turn of events. Back and forth we go.
So West Catholic regains the lead with two twenty nine
left to go into third. It's Falcons twenty seven the
South Christian Sailor's twenty and you're listening to it live
right here courtesy of LMCU. On ninety six one, the game, well,

(01:41:13):
just like the second quarter. This crazy third quarter being
brought to you united by Kids Food Basket, and they're
benefiting with all these touchdowns for kids, our official nonprofit
for the LFCU High School football Game of the Week
this regular season. As Smith approaches high end over and kick,
angling towards the left corner, taking at the numbers inside
the ten, around the five, and come to your side.

(01:41:33):
As a sophomore twisted around and dropped as he crossed
the twenty, you'll spot him at the twenty one yard
line easton Rock. So that's seven touchdowns fifty dollars apiece,
three hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
To our total.

Speaker 4 (01:41:45):
Already, We've still got some change in the fourth quarter
to play yet. Benefiting Kids Food Baskets are fourth year
teaming up with them. Don't forget Kids' Food Basket to
nourish local kids to reach their full potential right here
in West Michigan.

Speaker 5 (01:41:58):
After the first quarter, they might have locked the check
book up in the dust, drawing gone to bed zero zero. Hey,
we guys, we gotta gas this up a little bit.
And since then, four touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
A beats forty one thirty eight.

Speaker 4 (01:42:12):
By the way, a year ago, if you're wondering South
Christian pulled it out at West Cathoic. So this one
has produced some points and now a nice job.

Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
And breaking a tackle.

Speaker 4 (01:42:19):
Blackport breaking free the freshman inside the forty, still going
down inside the twenty five, inside the twenty draggingly would
be tacklers down inside the fifteen. It was Peterson who
finally dragged him down, just a little crawl route. But
the big fella showing you not only his speed but
his toughness in size is that's Dax's Blackport.

Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
The freshman, all six foot four to two oh five
of them. Yeah, and you don't see that a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
We're a tight end is able to pull away from
the field after the first guy doesn't bring him down.

Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
And that's exactly what happened to x Blackboard. It's just
a simple dig, yeah, in the middle of the field,
in the middle field, and.

Speaker 5 (01:42:58):
Then he met the safety comes up, miss the tackle,
and then he just starts running and he's got some
speed on him.

Speaker 4 (01:43:05):
First in goal, No, they're going to say first and ten,
just outside the ten at the eleven, purchase play fake
right side inside the five.

Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
Put his nose down to about the three yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
They can get a first down just inside the one
as bodies on pile. A little chippiness now between South
Christian and West Catholic. Austin Burgess are trying to help
up after a nice run, give him a gate of eight,
second and short. South Christian trying to tie this thing
back up, or with a two point conversion take the

(01:43:36):
lead if they can stick it in here. We still
got the fourth quarter coming up, folks, one eighteen and
ticking left to.

Speaker 3 (01:43:42):
Go on to third.

Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
What a big play by the freshman Blackport there with
a nice going after the catch. Second and three, I
should say second and two from the three, yep for
South Christian under a minute. Blackport now in the backfield.

(01:44:05):
Some confusion. Austin Burges not know well they're gonna wants
a call, and oh, he's gonna go ahead and just
line up, takes a snap. I'm gonna call his own
number right side, Sorges forward for maybe it looked like
it was gonna lose a yard. Maybe got back to
the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (01:44:21):
That's about it.

Speaker 4 (01:44:22):
Yeah, at the four now they're saying he lost the yard,
So now it's gonna be third and three.

Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
Maybe would have been better. Off to call time out there.

Speaker 6 (01:44:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:44:31):
I kind of feel like they thought, well, it's a
third quarter and we're gonna get another couple of cracks
at it. Let's not waste the time out there, right,
and let's just see what we can get.

Speaker 3 (01:44:43):
Well, they saw it, but this is big here. I mean,
you want to get it?

Speaker 5 (01:44:47):
Yeah, you do, you do for sure. I just don't
think they felt it was worth wasting a or calling
a time. I shouldn't say wasting.

Speaker 4 (01:44:53):
So now third and three from the four yard loud
of Now some movement up front for South Christian.

Speaker 5 (01:44:58):
Well, and Danny Brown's like, well, no, I want to timeout,
but it was too late, boy. And this is kind
of the thing we've seen a couple times earlier tonight
is just a sometimes some discombobulation out there and some
general confusion amongst the ranks.

Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
Well, and I'm looking okay, now he goes back hither.
I was wondering if there was something wrong with niklis Key.

Speaker 5 (01:45:23):
And now they're gonna because Blackport was in there and
he was in the backfield like a running back.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
Yeah, and now they believe in South Christian that took
the time out. No, they just let the quarter run out. No, yeah,
so the quarter we're all discombobulating. The quarter runs out.
There was a penalty.

Speaker 4 (01:45:38):
We'll take a time out as well after three quarters
to play here at Falcons Stadium. But South Christian knocking
on the door. It's West Catholic twenty seven, South Christian twenty.
You're listening to it live, you're on ninety sixty one
the game, all right, so let's get everything combobulated here. Shoot,
we bucked gino third and eight from the nine Yilne.
Start the fourth quarter. As the team switch ends and
sides of the field, Austin Burgess fakes the sweepe trying

(01:45:59):
to go at the goal line and he is just
knocked down.

Speaker 3 (01:46:03):
That was an easy interference goal.

Speaker 4 (01:46:06):
But Wes Catholic just trying to hustle to get back
to the big bellow, who's been the main reason that
South Christian's in the position.

Speaker 3 (01:46:12):
In the drive. Well, I can tell you that they
not called that penalty. They might have had to.

Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
Get Dandy Brown out the stadium in a straight jacket
because he was right there.

Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
He didn't say anything.

Speaker 5 (01:46:25):
He was just waiting to see if they threw the
flag and it was pretty clear contact. But what that
does now, because it's less than fifteen yards, puts it
at the four. It puts it at the distance. So
it's because of the high school rule. It's not a
spot foul. It basically is from the wine of scrimmage.
So because it's less than the fifteen yards, it's half
the distance, but it is not a first down. And

(01:46:47):
so it's basically I mean, if you're gonna do again,
if I'm Wes Catholic, I'll take that trade off.

Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
I don't like that part of the penalty. To me,
that should be a first down. I know what you're saying. Yeah, right,
it's it's now third. It's a heck of a place.
It's a heck of a way to get the stop.

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Right, it get third and three from the four yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:47:06):
Now, wing back from right to left, one receiver each way,
hand off right side to the sophomore, battling, battling down
to the one. Worst case, now, I think he's got
the first down for South Christian, which is most important
for the sophomore coln n Kliskey, who continues to run hard.
Remember he's in there due to the injury, and he's
the sole guy. Vander grind went out in the first

(01:47:27):
half and has not come back. So big run there
to pick up the first down, first and goal from
the wall.

Speaker 5 (01:47:33):
Yeah, I mean he clearly wants to get in the
end zone right the second prize and that is another
full set of downs and that's not a bad silver
medal there.

Speaker 3 (01:47:42):
And boy, he didn't get it by much by the way.

Speaker 5 (01:47:43):
When spot of that football, well he had forward progress
I feel like right to the one and then he
got driven immediately back.

Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
That's what he needed exactly three yards, got it first
and goal from the one. Nicliskey reward the big fellow.
The problem was no one blocked over the right side
and ch Jim was in there day eel Yeah, to
make the stop for a loss back of the three.

Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
I loss at two nowhere to run that time for Nikliskey.

Speaker 5 (01:48:06):
Just knifing in there and they're overwhelming South Christian at
the point of attack.

Speaker 3 (01:48:11):
Mcliskey.

Speaker 5 (01:48:13):
It does take a little bit of time for him
to get the ball and get moving. He's kind of
a big old you know, like a pickup truck. He
takes a little bit of time to get warmed up,
but then once he does, he can get rolling. But
a great play there by Jujem just to knock or
to knife in there and take away the running wane.
And like I said, South Christian have it blocked at first,

(01:48:34):
but then west Cathy just storms in there and knocks
him down for a loss.

Speaker 4 (01:48:38):
What is Danny Brown dial up with his offensive crew here?
Second and goal for the three trips the left one receiver,
the right one back of the backfield. Nikliskey bur just
takes a snap out of the short shot and now
they're going to go reverse. This time to Rock breaks
a tag of ballpops loose rolling at the twelve yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
South Christian, I think hop back on it.

Speaker 4 (01:48:55):
He did with one of the skill position players that
was back there. I think that might have been blackboard
to save.

Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
It was one of the linemen. So Hunterman saved the day.

Speaker 4 (01:49:08):
But now you got third and goal from the fourteen
after the fumble by.

Speaker 5 (01:49:14):
Rock on the reverse suite well, and they get a
cute there and the good job by Wes Catholic. The
defensive backs on what was gonna be the weak side
held their ground, defeated the blocks, and then Easton Rock
gets stripped. And now you got an interesting choice because
you're going to bring in a new play number one
and number two. If you don't get it here, the

(01:49:35):
field goal and extra point kicking hasn't exactly been a
smooth ceiling.

Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
I think I think it's two downs.

Speaker 4 (01:49:40):
I think it is too down a touchdown two wide
series the right confusion. A kin Owen Burgess lines up
in the slot left short side of the field from
the left ash Austin Burgess takes the snap out of
the pistol formation, rolling to his right, swings it out
in the flats complaint to Nikliskey, and he is just
finished off by Jude Jim at the ten for a
short gate of four. Of course, the West Catholic defense

(01:50:01):
could spread out more over the extra room in the
back of the end zone. So now fourth and goal
decision time for Danny Brown and South Christian from the
ten yard line.

Speaker 5 (01:50:10):
Well, they're gonna bring in Vermas, which signals to me
that Kerstetter is gonna stand down and they.

Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
Will go for it here. By the way, we haven't
forgotten it is the fourth quarter. We'll get to the
wing Tuozy fan of the game in a minute. You
can set your redals.

Speaker 4 (01:50:22):
We'll tell you when the QUT call is at six, one, six, four, five,
four thirty seven seventy six, fourth and goal from the ten.
They're going for it, purchase out of the pistol formation,
two out receivers each way, one back in the backfield
left looking to his left, throwing for the.

Speaker 3 (01:50:36):
Fade, got a man out over Moss.

Speaker 4 (01:50:39):
The defender fell down and it was right there in
his hands and he couldn't hold in.

Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
He's been Johnny on the spot.

Speaker 4 (01:50:46):
He's been the go to guy, you called it buck
Gino all night long, and that one was gonna be
easy for him.

Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
Maybe too easy for Vermas well. As they were setting
up Brett.

Speaker 5 (01:50:57):
I mean, everybody that's watched a couple of football games
before knew that number seven had single coverage yep, on
a shorter player and they didn't have any help. And
Burgess knew that's where the ball was gonna go. And
that's a heck of a throw. There was a little contact,
as you said, it was a little short too. Vermass
Sol came back to it, yep, but he just threw

(01:51:18):
off the timing enough. Wow, he just couldn't get back
to the ball in time.

Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
Big stop for West Catholic's defense. And now they're gonna
go to work on that clock. Old Chefsky over the
right side first and ten from their own ten yard line,
plows his way out to the sixteen yard line for
a game of six. All right, let's do it right now,
caller eight for our wing doozy fan of the game. Remember,
if you're already a winner this season for the high
school football season, you are not eligible. Caller eight right

(01:51:43):
now to our studio lines. Joe Aneltiker calls six one six,
four five four thirty seven seventy six. That's caller eight.
Six one, six, four five four thirty seven seventy six.
You can score twenty five dollars gift card to wing Doozy.
Olshawski kicks into another gear, so a big hole over
the right side, and he's got a first down for
the Falcon, powering his way out with that speed across
the twenties out to the twenty six yard line. Nice

(01:52:06):
run there, and heavy dose of number seven. And then
when they want to, he's gonna check out number forty
three as well. Abram, it's coming right here twenty seven
to twenty. Try to protect that one.

Speaker 5 (01:52:17):
Score league, and I think he kind of get the
fill that dropped pass or that mispass, however you want
to termin it. That could be the gut punch for
the Sailors, because the wind seems to have come out
of the sails a little bit for South Christian, and
you gotta start trying to tackle Connor Olszewski and Colin
Abram to get the ball back.

Speaker 4 (01:52:38):
Abram in the backfield, they want to go option right side.
Augustin gonna keep it himself and he finds a little
crease across the thirty some good running room out to
the thirty one yard line, pick up a five on
first down. They'll take that second in five. So we
roll towards seven minutes left to go. Let's check the
Rapid Radios scoreboard. How about the Battle of Holland tightening
up a little bit. Holland Christian thirty four, Holland, the

(01:52:58):
Dutch and the ok So or twenty one at.

Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
The end of three. So it's a two score game there.
It's a one score game here.

Speaker 4 (01:53:07):
In this fourth quarter being brought to you by Wing Doozy,
named the best chicken wings in West Michigan multiple years,
and those great fries as well.

Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
Great for game day.

Speaker 4 (01:53:14):
Wing Doozy. South Christian showing a late blitz there. Augustin
pulls away. Now sets the play with slot to the left,
one back deep in the backfield, handoff Abram right side,
got a first down across the thirty five, rambling out
to the thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
Well, that's a nice one to two punch.

Speaker 4 (01:53:31):
That landing Grove with that big offensive line has to
go to in the backfield with little Chevsky and also Abram,
I mean big big bats of that a little more speed.

Speaker 5 (01:53:40):
And the thing is, when those guys get going downhill,
not a whole lot of fun to try to bring
them down and that and like you said, the one
two punch, they can literally just cycle them in and
out each play, give the other guy a rest and
then bring the other one in fresh. Really tough to stop,
and you're starting to see it up front a little
bit for South Christian is a couple of guys that

(01:54:02):
have gone on both sides of the ball, starting to
starting to tire a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:54:06):
Hand off Abram trying to go Why, good job by
South Christian and they're gonna stack him up for a
loss back of the thirty five yard line. The first
guy that came in there. He's played well tonight reading
that run is the safety Noah Clump. He didn't make
the tackle, but he was there and made him turn sideways.

Speaker 5 (01:54:22):
And then had help from the rest of that Sailor
defense and a man down for South Christian.

Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
We'll see who that is down.

Speaker 4 (01:54:29):
You know, it might be the situation of the game now,
but you know, with guys, some of them going both
ways where we're gonna see them. And again, like we
saw in week one, is a warm night here on
this Friday night in mid September, five point fifty eleve
to go in this one, we'll reset the scene. West
Catholic twenty seven, South Christian twenty. By the way, that
last Battle of Holland. Rapid Radio scoreboard update being brought

(01:54:51):
to you by Rapid Radio stay coming.

Speaker 3 (01:54:53):

injured Sailor.

Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
That's Gavin Bauma the defensive end.

Speaker 4 (01:55:17):
Yeah, six, four to two five and a union number eight. Boy,
this team is just loaded with youngsters, aren't they. I mean,
especially the junior clients.

Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
A lot of guys with tens and eleven's by those names,
which means that next year, Sailor fans can expect a
pretty good squad and good to see.

Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
Kevin Bauma up. Now it's to be cramping, doesn't it. Maybe,
I mean just it could be a lot of things.

Speaker 4 (01:55:39):
He's walking off with the help of the trainer and
an assistant coach, but you can just see he is
putting weight on it.

Speaker 5 (01:55:45):
I was one hundred and thirty credit short of my
medical degree in college, but I feel like it could
be an ankle. But the one good thing is he's
coming off the field. He doesn't seem to be in
distress for their need to get a need to get
somebody out there with the cart or anything. So let's
hope it's just a cramp or maybe an angle tweak.
But that's a big loss for them too, because now
we've got second and thirteen, they're gonna have to try

(01:56:06):
to get the ball back here without one of their
linch pins up front and he was one.

Speaker 4 (01:56:11):
Of the guys who brought him down for a loss
on that last play to set up second in thirteen.

Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
That's what they need. Play action.

Speaker 4 (01:56:16):
Augustin rolling to his right, throws out in the flats.
Good job by South Christian come up to they strip
the football. No, but they were trying to. They did
make it a short gain is that time it was
complete to number zero Noah Gillespie, just a gain of.

Speaker 3 (01:56:34):
Two. They give him the board progress to the thirty
seven yard line. So third and eleven coming up for
West Catholic. It was the heck of a play. I
think it was.

Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
Weiss Head that fought off the block, was able to
corral the receiver and then coming over the top the
young from the safety spot finishes the job. That's a
great play there outside by the defensive back. I mean
that wide receiver just could not block it.

Speaker 4 (01:57:01):
Just over five minutes and change left to go on
this one big third and eleven swinging out in the flats, Olschevsky.

Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Can they bring him down?

Speaker 9 (01:57:07):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:57:07):
He goes why gets the first down, stays in bounds.
What a heads up play by the senior and slines
down to keep the clock rolling in South Christian territory
needed to convert on third and eleven. They do it
again to number seven. Boy, he's been my Uptown chiefs
Kate player of the game tonight. Offensively incredible play there,
first down and ten fresh set of downs to continue
to work on that clock from the South Christian forty

(01:57:29):
eight boy, and that's just a tough one for South Christian.
You feel like on third and eleven, a short swing pass,
you think you can still get him behind the sticks,
but just the one defensive bat coming in downhill against
Olszewski just is not able to make the tackle.

Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
And then Connor gets the first down.

Speaker 4 (01:57:47):
Olschewsky in there and the deep I formation out of
the pistol makes the first man missed with an arm tackle.
Then can't make this second see if they give him
forward progress they do to the forty six yard line.
Game of one second nine. He had fifty yards rushing
on eight carries in the first half. He's got two
rushing touchdowns tonight. It's been a workhorse along with Abram
in the second half as they've gone to more of

(01:58:09):
the ground attack and then aired out when they need to,
just to keep the South Christian defense honest.

Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
And now I'm looking at a Sailor's.

Speaker 4 (01:58:15):
Defense a little bit gassed here, three fifty eight and
ticking left to go on this one. Just a one
score game, but Wes Cathick trying to drive and put
this one away up twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 5 (01:58:23):
He kind of feel like that third and eleven might
have been the backbreaker because they if they get that stop,
they've had about five minutes to left and get the
ball three timeouts instead.

Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
Now we's Kathy just gonna lean on that clock slot left.

Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
Oh, he threw it into double coverage there as he
did not see dropping back Noah Klump who was up
tight in your last scrimmage, and Agustin got a break
there because it got tipped whin high and then incomplete.
So now third down and nine, let's see if the
Sailors can get off the field here. And just a
reminder once we're done here tonight before we send you
back for the Meer.

Speaker 3 (01:58:57):
Scoreboard show with Rick Burka and all of our game reporters.
Great actions. In week three, we've got the discount door
postgame show coming up.

Speaker 5 (01:59:04):
Never won to second guess, but might have just handed
it to forty three or seven there third.

Speaker 4 (01:59:09):
Nine under some press are gonna swing it out like
daid old Schewsky. Great open field tackle that time for
a short game, just inside.

Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
The forty five to the forty four. Boy, what a series.

Speaker 4 (01:59:18):
Now the number four Noah Klump is playing is he
made the open field tackle.

Speaker 5 (01:59:24):
And they're gonna take it. And Danny Brown's gonna take
a time out now it is conserve some time.

Speaker 3 (01:59:28):
That's his first.

Speaker 4 (01:59:29):
Wes Cathock's got all three, so now two left for
South Christian three twenty six left to go.

Speaker 3 (01:59:33):
Let's keep it right here.

Speaker 4 (01:59:35):
Will remind you coming up the Discount Door postgame show
brought to you by friends at Discount Door. They're just

at six one six three six three fifty six ninety two.
All right, buck gino, this is what we pay you
the big bucks for. Here we go fourth and seven.
You're at the South Christian forty four. What are you
dialing up here? If you're landing Grove and the offense

(02:00:17):
for the fact.

Speaker 5 (02:00:18):
It doesn't look like they're gonna try to punt the football.
Uh boy, it's a tough one. If you're asking me,
I probably would kick the ball and even give up
maybe the twenty yards of field position. And that does
what Now they do break the huddle and they is
Peterson Dak Peterson's back there.

Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
I was thinking, just whatever you do, don't throw it
across the middle like this.

Speaker 5 (02:00:36):
I think anything under five yards they might have been
tempted to go for it, but being at the forty
four yard line, that's just too close there. And you
and do you feel like you know they're gonna have
to pass the ball.

Speaker 3 (02:00:47):
They're kind of showing the hand. I would just play
the field position game here and let your defense.

Speaker 4 (02:00:51):
I was gonna say their defense is played fantastic, really,
I mean they really have fourth down and long. Peterson
kind of a Rugby style kick to the right back
to the middle field hits it about the seventeen yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:01:02):
Take it inside the five. Look out.

Speaker 4 (02:01:03):
Owen Burgas breaks two and dal tries to get his
way out to the twenty yard line. Stopped just short
at the nineteen, but he gives him a little breathing room.
Great open field tackle on special teams, I tell you
if he doesn't make it. The sophomore Deacon Parslow, he
had some room to run and might have gone the distance.
Owen Burgess, with his athleticism and speed, he broke that

(02:01:25):
first wave of two that were crashing on.

Speaker 3 (02:01:26):
Either side of him, and well, yeah, he can't do
that at trouble.

Speaker 5 (02:01:29):
Yeah, he beats the gunners up the middle, and then
you're right, he has a nice lane to go up
the near sideline. But Parcel, with a good kick or
a good kick coverage, you normally don't feel the puns
inside you're five. But with the rugby style punt, the
coverage hadn't gotten down there yet, and Burgess made a
good play.

Speaker 3 (02:01:48):
First and ten, they'll spot him just shi the twenty.

Speaker 4 (02:01:51):
Burgess wants to go to the air, got his man
short curl route Blackport fighting for extra yards to the
twenty four, Stopped short there for calling a gain of
a long three second and seven as we werelling a
three minutes left to go west. Cathckill let him do
that all day, but remember it's just a one score game.
You break a tackle like Blackboard did earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:02:12):
He was off to the races.

Speaker 4 (02:02:13):
Burgess back to pass, pocket, breaks down, breaks a tackle,
trying to run for his life, cuts it up twenty
five thirty spins hangs out of the football and he's
got a first down, so that'll stop the clock with
two forty three left to go needed seven got eight
first and ten Sailors quickly up over the football, twenty
seven to twenty Falcons by seven. It was a three

(02:02:36):
point game a year ago. Burgess slings it out there
quickly got Blackboard. The freshman breaks the tackle. Now knock
down at the thirty nine yard line, short of the
first down marker. They'll give him eight second and two.
Clock continues to wind south. Christian still has two timeouts left.

Speaker 3 (02:02:51):
Buck.

Speaker 5 (02:02:51):
Yeah, and if I'm Burges, just the first guy I'm
looking for thirty two. He's doing a heck of a
job tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:02:57):
He's a mismatch, oh man.

Speaker 4 (02:02:58):
They've got him flanked out as inside slot guy on
the trips left side. Now Nikliss came, boy did he
get face masked? That looked funny as he was trying
to break a tackle close to the first down marker.

Speaker 3 (02:03:09):
He's got it.

Speaker 4 (02:03:10):
They swing it out in the left flats on the
far side of the field to the forty two stops
at momentarily first and ten.

Speaker 3 (02:03:15):
They move the chains. Now they wind it.

Speaker 4 (02:03:20):
Trips right one run receiver left Rock by himself short
side of the field from the left hask Purchase takes
his snapfires. Nice job by a Rock, makes the catch
on the out pattern, steps out at the forty five
give him three second and seven. Stops the clock with
one fifty three left to go. Well, partner, this is
what we always talk about, last possession game right.

Speaker 5 (02:03:41):
Well, I mean that's a nice play there by Rock.
You think, wow that it's three yards. Maybe you can
get a little more. Well maybe then you get drugged
down in bounds, got to burn a time out. So
I like that there stop the clock. Now you can
huddle and get the play in. You don't have to
rush things. And you still, I mean, you're gonna go
for it on fourth down regardless. So down in distance
are almost negligible at this point, Fine and Burgess wide right.

(02:04:02):
They form a trips that way to the white side
of the field. Burgess rolling to his right for the
left task, throws.

Speaker 3 (02:04:07):
Oh step in front and intercepted.

Speaker 4 (02:04:10):
He threw late to his cousin Owen Burgess on the
out route at the thirty make that the forty one
yard line. But stepping in front and making the big
play was Poochka. We've seen him tonight as a wide
receiver at that time as a defensive back. With the
interception to seal the deal, it looks like for Wes Catholic, Well.

Speaker 5 (02:04:32):
Pooksta makes a nice break on the football and as
you say, Austin Burgess throws it just a little bit late,
lets that route develop and he has Owen open. The
thing is he's he just got to pull the trigger faster.
There he was, he was opened, the throwing lane was there.
He just waits an extra step and Pooksta recognizes that
makes the good play and probably seals it.

Speaker 1 (02:04:55):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
South Christian will be using their timeouts here. Junior wide
receiver and defensive back books Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:05:01):
Handoff now and going a wide and then sliding down
after he broke the tackle was Olshefsky as he got
to the midfield stripe for a gato five. Danny Brown
forced to take his second time out, and it's.

Speaker 5 (02:05:16):
And they're marking it back in the midfield try because
it's where you give yourself up as a runner. So
he slid almost down to the forty seven. But it's
from the spot where you down yourself and that's a
senior play though that's a winning second time he's done
it too. He knows he can't go out of bounds
because that's a free time out for the other team,
so he'll just slide down take the yardage. A couple

(02:05:38):
of really heady plays. I know that we've had some
sloppiness and some confusion, but Rock getting out of bounds
before the interception, and then Olsevski sliding down knowing that
he wants to make the other team use their time out.
It's just very heady, smart plays in a late and
close game. But boy, all you could want and more.

(02:05:59):
If you're West CATk Man, you feel pretty fortunate to
probably leave this stadium with a win. If you're South Christian,
you feel like you if you clean some things up,
maybe the results will be different. But a heck of
a football game, Brett, and I know we still have
some time left. Anything can happen. But you know, South
Christan's gonna move to one and two. But I feel

(02:06:20):
like they've still got some good bocks here that if
they just get get some stuff things worked out.

Speaker 3 (02:06:27):
Yeah, it doesn't get easy to sealing the West to
the okay goal.

Speaker 5 (02:06:29):
I mean, let's let's be real here, it's not getting
any easier for the Sailors.

Speaker 4 (02:06:33):
It's Cathy still got to get a first down to
seal the deal. And now Grady Augusta and try to
keep it himself. You had the pitchman Ole Schefsky, which
I think will be pitch that he gets it wide
it might have got the first time, but decides to
take it over left tackle himself with the option play.
Got just one to the South Christian forty nine. Now
the good news is for Wes Cathock, Danny Brown has
to burn his final time out there, so they can't
stop it now. But it's thirt in four, so if

(02:06:55):
you're South Christian to get a stop by the way.
So South Christian has sealing the West next week and
if they improved it two and one got to feel
good about it, especially the schedule. They played nor Few Coopersville,
which is a natural wide where they shut out last week,
and then if they can win over South Christian, a
team that beat them a year ago. If you're Landing
Grove going into Okay White play with Hamilton, you're thinking, hey,
two and one, that's not too bad.

Speaker 3 (02:07:17):
And they they've got Zealand West by the.

Speaker 4 (02:07:18):
Way, that they've got to play in a non conference game,
but that's at the end of the season, right later
in the season, just because the how many teams are
in a certain division, you have to play an extra
maybe non conference game.

Speaker 5 (02:07:28):
Well, and kudos to both programs, and they started that
last year. I mean, why number one, why drive over
Hill and Dale to go find someway that you haven't
played yet? And also number two, get ready for playoffs.
Let's play a team that would probably be going to
the playoffs in Zealand West And or West Catholic, and
let's get ourselves ready for a hard fuck playoff run

(02:07:49):
by playing a really good team that we're not going
to see in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (02:07:53):
Third and four from the South Christian forty nine yard
line up twenty seven to twenty one, thirty two left
to go on regulation. Now shuffles two guys over from
right to left. Now they go back to the right side,
one back in the backfield. He's gonna get it. That's
Abram right side, big hole. HiT's tide the thirty, HiT's
tie the twenty five. They're trying to run him down
from behigh. They do at the fifteen, but he's got

(02:08:14):
the first down to seal the deal for West Catholic.
The junior running back number forty three, Colin Abram.

Speaker 3 (02:08:20):
How we got a flag down though, Brett where this
one may come?

Speaker 4 (02:08:24):
Oh wow, holding against West Catholic. Man named Grove, can't
believe it. They're gonna bring this one back. So South
Christians still got life.

Speaker 3 (02:08:34):
Well what that also does.

Speaker 5 (02:08:37):
Is it now makes it I mean, if you're gonna
run the football, I mean everybody in the house knows
you're probably gonna run the football. Makes it that much
tougher to get a first down, which means that South
Christian now is most likely gonna get the ball back
that the game was over. If that holding does not
get called, we'll.

Speaker 4 (02:08:55):
Announce our wing doosey fan of the game coming up
in the discount door post game show, We're also gonna

(02:09:19):
it should be third and four, that's the problem.

Speaker 5 (02:09:22):
Well, no, the thing is it was marks downfield, So yes,
the clock is supposed to wind because it's an offensive penalty.

Speaker 3 (02:09:35):
I'm lost because that's what. It shouldn't be third and
four though, should it?

Speaker 5 (02:09:39):
Well, it was marked, the spot was downfield, the flag
was at the where is that? So the thirty nine
yard line is where the flag was. So if it's oh,
I sound field, it's from the spot. If it's behind
the line is because the reason I was is because
it was third and four. Wasn't it before? So it's
like wait a minute, but yeah, it was downfield yep.
So it's a twenty five play clock, but the clock

(02:10:02):
does wind.

Speaker 3 (02:10:04):
West Cathock.

Speaker 4 (02:10:05):
What they did is they ran it down and then
all the time out so they don't get the penalty.
So fifty seven seconds left, I'm gonna keep it right
here just because I'm.

Speaker 3 (02:10:13):
Afraid that we'll miss something.

Speaker 4 (02:10:15):
Right with everything e Zappa here at the last couple
of minutes if you're just tuning in, West Catholic leads
it in what has been a crazy game. There was
no score by either team after one quarter play and then,
needless to say, it just went crazy with fireworks all
over the place, especially in the second quarter. It was
fourteen to thirteen West Cathock at the half. Now it's

(02:10:37):
twenty seven to twenty West Cathock on a third and
four from the South Christian forty nine trying to pick
up a first down. They just had a holding call.
Otherwise they would have had it to seal this game away.
In week three, fifty seven seconds left, we got the
Meer scoreboard.

Speaker 3 (02:10:50):
Show coming up.

Speaker 4 (02:10:52):
But after this we'll go to the discount door postgame
show and hand out some awards. Montel Construction Defensive Player
of the Game, will play our J ANDH Family Stores
highlight back for you got a lot of them in
this one.

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Seven touchdowns put up on the board. Third and four.

Speaker 4 (02:11:08):
Now they shift guys over and they stay from right
to left hand off left side. There comes to South
Christian defense and they're gonna stack up Apron. Oh, great
pushing effort by his offensive line, and he's got the
first down, buck Gino. He was stuffed at the forty seven,
which would have been a couple of yards short. They
push him all the way inside the forty five to
the forty three for a West Catholic first down.

Speaker 5 (02:11:30):
Well, but he had thirty four yards they got taken away.
He only gets six there, but I'm pretty sure he'll
take it.

Speaker 3 (02:11:37):
I think the line was mad with that holding. Great.

Speaker 5 (02:11:40):
Well, that's a great effort there by Aerram decil the game.
And finally, if you're West Catholic, if you're a West
Catholic supporter, you can be easy. Oh they got to
take one snap victory formation. Yeah, they're gonna have to
take just the one. But just a tremendous football game.

Speaker 3 (02:11:56):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (02:11:56):
It started off very slow, and then we got hot
and heavy in the middle, and then another defensive struggle
in the fourth and West Catholic is able to pull
this one out with a twenty seven to twenty victory.

Speaker 4 (02:12:10):
Grady Augustin takes the snap, goes to one knee and
the celebration is on for the Green, White and Black
across the way of West Catholic. Remember they lost this
game at home a year ago to Carson Vissen the
Sailors forty one thirty eight, But they get the revenge
here tonight, twenty seven twenty in a crazy one in
Week three as West Catholic with the win, improves to
two and one and with the loss Danny Brown Sailors

(02:12:32):
a South Christian dropped to one and two. Plenty of
action scores and more coming your way. It's the Discount
Door postgame show though coming up next. Stay with us
on your home here for high school football in West
Michigan ninety six to one the game Welcome back to
He's Kent within High School Falcons Stadium prepakkeet along with
Bung Gino. What a wild finish here in week three

(02:12:54):
with two great schools that are becoming rivals one in
Division five and West Catholic won in Division four in
South Christian, great non conference Okay Division matchup. But the
Falcons of West Catholic after losing by three at home
last year to Carson VISs and the Sailors win a
big one here at an end of the road twenty
seven to twenty to improve to two and one and
for South Christian better after than last week they got

(02:13:15):
shut out folks twenty one nothing by East Ground Rapids
at home that was being played at Wydale Field and
Byron Center their second home East Kent with their main
home here and so they kind of have to regroup
to get ready for the tough f OK Gold Division
again when they take on Zealand West next week. So
twenty seven to twenty your final as we welcome into
the Discount Door postgame show brought to you by our
friends at Discount Door and buck g. You know, let's

(02:13:37):
take it went through the final scoring summary in this one.
How we got to that with seven touchdowns put up
on the board after it was zero zero after the
first twelve minutes.

Speaker 5 (02:13:46):
Well, yes, I wouldn't say it was a boring first quarter,
but definitely lacking on the scoreboard. In the second quarter,
a title wave of points West Catholic getting this party
started knra Olseewsky eight yard touchdown run seven to nothing.
Then right back down the field after a turnover, West

(02:14:07):
Catholic gets the ball one play, thirty five yard touchdown
pass Augustin to Hunter, fourteen to nothing for the Falcons,
but the South Christian Sailors were not going to be
sent quietly into the night. A twenty nine yard interception
returned by Brody Schiltz made the score fourteen to seven,
and then a late score in the second quarter, with

(02:14:28):
only twenty six seconds to go before halftime, Burgess to
Charlie Vermas. The pat was missed and that sent the
Falcons to the locker room with a one point lead
at fourteen to thirteen.

Speaker 3 (02:14:38):
And then the third quarter. We kept all the scoring together.

Speaker 5 (02:14:42):
The first and the fourth nothing, the third lots more points,
just a little bit more for West Catholic. They opened
the scoring in the third quarter with a one yard
touchdown run by conra Olschewski, his second of the game.
They missed the point after twenty to thirteen Falcons. Then
South Christian comes back and tie.

Speaker 9 (02:14:59):
Is the game.

Speaker 5 (02:15:00):
Burgess to Niklinsky Christetter as the point after touchdown, and
it was tied to twenty with four and a half
to go. In the third, but West Catholic, with an
impressive drive aided by a penalty on third down, South
Christian was called for past interference that kept the drive
alive and then it was capped by Augustine going to

(02:15:21):
end body forty two yards out. The Smith pat was
good and that was our final score. West Catholic twenty
seven in South Christian twenty. That's our final game scoring summer.
They're brought to you each and every week by MKD
Funeral Homes through four generations that respected family tradition and
continues at MKD Funeral Homes by creating distinctive celebrations of

(02:15:42):
life at the greatest possible value. For more information about
pre planning, Pricinger. To find a location near you, go
to MKD Funeral Home. That's singular dot com eight locations
of West Michigan and something cool that Mike but Tyson
and his group are doing with MKD in Jamestown.

Speaker 3 (02:15:56):
They have a great little community there. Isaac to Sla.

Speaker 4 (02:15:59):
You might have heard of him, played at Unity Christian,
his quarterback on the state championship team. Now wide was
here for the Lions. Well, he's from the Jamestown Hudson Valaria.
So there's a great ice cream shop there in Jamestown
called Little Dipper and MKD is teaming up with them.
For every catch that Isaac to Slam makes on a Sunday,
you get ten percent off his made Sunday. It's Sunday

(02:16:20):
Funday Sunday with Isaac Taslaw. They also have a Lion's
chiller that you can get this off too, So every
catch you add ten percent, up to fifty.

Speaker 3 (02:16:27):
Percent if he makes five catches. But here's the best part.

Speaker 4 (02:16:30):
If he gets a touchdown like he did this past Sunday,
fifty percent off automatic Monday through Thursday, you can redeem that.
Just say I want the Isaac to Slaw Special courtesy
of MKD Funeral Homes.

Speaker 3 (02:16:40):
And that's at Little Dipper ice Cream.

Speaker 4 (02:16:42):
So there's your tip buck Gino when you have to
treat the family for dessert coming up in the near future.

Speaker 3 (02:16:47):
Especially with the heat we had like tonight. Yeah, well now,
I mean.

Speaker 5 (02:16:50):
You're thinking, you know, last week like ice cream. Okay,
well we'll see. You know, I'm going to root for
him fifteen times out of the year he plays Sunday.
I can't because he's playing my favorite team. So sorry, guys.
Hopefully hopefully got to pay a full price this Sunday.
But after that, yeah, I mean, just an amazing story.
I mean, you and I both called his games, and

(02:17:11):
you could have if you would have told us that
he was gonna be an NFL wide receiver in two
thoy nine, if you'd have told me that, I would
have looked at you very strangely. But we saw his
talent as the safety. I thought that was gonna be
his calling card going into college. We went to Hillsdale,
they converted him to receiver. He has an amazing ability
to just get the ball at the very highest point.

(02:17:33):
He's a crazy athletic kid, and it's really good to see.
I mean, you know a hometown. I say hometown. It's
a Michigan native doing good for the Detroit Lions. All right,
we're gonna take a time out.

Speaker 4 (02:17:47):
We come back. We'll wrap things up with the discount
door postgame show. We got to hand out some awards
with our uptown Cheapskate Player of the Game offensively also
our Montel Construction Defensive Player of the Game. Then don't
forget We'll get you into the Meyers scoreboard show. All

(02:18:07):

an eight man final score Sacred Hard fifty six Lawrence eight.
Send it back to you, guys, our game of the week,

gonna have some reports and interviews already ready to go.

Speaker 3 (02:19:16):
So enjoy it all right, Rick, We're looking forward to it.

Speaker 4 (02:19:19):
We certainly listen on our way home, as you should
as a high school football fan, and we see him
streaming out of the parking lot here at Falcon Stadium
tuning in.

Speaker 3 (02:19:27):
Let's start with reward of the fans.

Speaker 4 (02:19:29):
Are our Wing Doozy fan of the game tonight, Bob
Timmer of Hudsonville, He was caller Ray. Congratulations Bob, thanks
for listening to our broadcast tonight, and you scored a
twenty five dollars gift card to Wing Doozy. You can
usee at the Meltro Health Village location off of Byron
Center Avenue in Wyoming, or just off Chicago drive right
there with the sports bar in Hudsonville in front of
the Ace Hardware Gemmens. All right from there, we gotta

(02:19:50):
hand out our awards. Let's start with the offensive side
of things. Buck Gino and our uptown cheapskate offensive player
of the game tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:19:56):
Well, it was a crowded field, I'll give you that.

Speaker 5 (02:19:59):
But boy, when you look at the overall game and
the production, I mean, the numbers don't really jump out
the page.

Speaker 4 (02:20:08):
He had.

Speaker 5 (02:20:10):
Sixteen carries for seventy six yards, but two of those
carries got him into the end zone and was part
of the difference of this football game.

Speaker 3 (02:20:18):
And Connor Olschevski, I.

Speaker 5 (02:20:20):
Mean, I don't know. I don't think he knows how
to go backwards. I just every time he gets the football,
it's North. Every time. It may not be very much,
but it's always North. Just very good, disciplined running back
and a leader on this team. And Connor Olschewsky is
our uptown cheapskate offensive player of the game tonight. Again,
sixteen rushing attempts for seventy six yards and two.

Speaker 3 (02:20:43):
Scores and not in there of course out of the
backfield too.

Speaker 4 (02:20:46):
In the flats he was big, almost like a handoff
when they threw it to him as a receiver. Congratulations
number seven senior running back, also playing on the defense
as well. Connor Olschewsky is Tonight's Uptown Cheapskate player of
the Game. He'll twenty five dollars gift condy some shopping
on us at Uptown Cheapskate with locations in Granville and
kent Wood. Now for our Montel Construction Defensive Player of

(02:21:09):
the game, I've got the honors there. I thought the
defensive ends played fantastic tonight getting pressure on Austin Burgess.

Speaker 3 (02:21:14):
He was never really comfortablehere.

Speaker 4 (02:21:15):
He could sit in the pocket a lot, and that
was due to number twenty four on the near side.
From our vantage point, Jack Franzak, the senior defensive end.
He was all over the place making plays, swatting balls
down when Burgess on big plays, trying to get it
out for South Christian, especially in that first half. So
congratulations senior defensive end. Jack franz Ac is our Montel
Construction defensive player of the game.

Speaker 3 (02:21:36):
Brought to you by my home team.

Speaker 4 (02:21:37):
When it comes to exterior projects that is Montel construction,
and that leads us into our J and H Family
Stores highlight of the game tonight. Certainly there were a
lot of them, but when you have a one score game,
usually that last score is where we're gonna go. What
made it twenty seven to twenty for the Falcons victory tonight?

Speaker 5 (02:21:53):
We went back and forth in this football game, and
then after a disputed penalty, West Catholic kept the drive
alive and they were able to go down and on
this play we're able to take the lead for good.

Speaker 4 (02:22:08):
All Right, some technical difficulties back there. We'll try to
get you the J and H Family Stores highlight of
the game. Maybe Rick Burkey can play that coming up
in the meer scoreboard show our thanks to John Elk
and everyone back there and also in the score center.

Speaker 3 (02:22:21):

reminded a couple of things.
