Speaker 1 (00:04):
Brepa Kita Buck Genail back here in Wildcats Stadium, Northview
High School, the J and H Family Stores rolling on
with the pregame shell countdown to kickoff. We have the
captains meeting out there at center field. Catholic Central is
going to start by receiving the football, so they'll go
on offense first, and that leads us Buck into our
vandal Hot Home Improvement keys to the contest. Seven to
zero Catholic Central against five and two Northfew, And remember

(00:26):
Northfew knocked him off last year and they went on
to a perfect regular seat at nine to zero and
won the outright ok, black crown Catholic Central. The win
here tonight could reverse the tables and do that here
in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, we'll start with the keys for the visiting Cougar's. Well,
what they've got to do is they're gonna have to
find out a way to get that offense on track.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Now, I know you'll see it. Last week, well they
won fifty eight to nothing.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Well, you know, there is no disrespect men, but the
competition tonight is going to be a little bit stiffer
than what they faced last week. And they've had some
they had some continuity issues. I mean Oden Spencer missed
a couple of games. He missed the Middleville game for
the most part because of an injury, and then he
took the next week off against Idawa Hills. So they
didn't even play their number one quarterback. They had Sweeney
back there, and so they've really got to get some

(01:09):
offensive flow and welcome Oden Spencer back to the lineup.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
For Northview, they've got to get off to a fast start.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
They've been plagued by that in their two losses and
they if they get that fire, they got to put
teams away. They've gotten leads and they've they've lost the
lead both times that they've lost.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
They've got to get the lead and hold it.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Ronaldo Sanchez approaches to kicking away for northf You're taking
by Superson inside the tenth and nine on the fly
line driving kicking.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
He's got a hole through the crase across the thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
And it's actually Sanchez the kicker who knocks them bounds.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Great job on the kick return team for Catholic Central.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
There was a huge hole on that left side and
he's out across the forty. They'll start this possession first
in ten from their own forty four yard line. The
Vandalion Home Improvement keys to the contest Tonight with Buck

sophomore quarterback, Big number two, leads him out. You can
already see a difference from a year ago. As a freshman,
he was their starter and he is their leading rusher.

(02:17):
Coming in two wide receivers, the right one to the left,
and he'll start with a quarterback design draw over the
right side.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Great job of the Northview defense as he.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Tried to found his lineman, get across the forty five,
gets to the forty six to foroard progress.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Gave him two second and eight. Coming up for Catholic.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Central, Dylan Castro came up, met Spencer right at the
point of attack. Good job there. They got a two gap.
If they're going to be successful. They got that three
man front, so they're gonna have to two gap, which
means that they're gonna have to occupy a lot of
space up there. And then Dylan Castro came up and
made a really nice tackle.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
They go empty back for the round.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Spencer now out of the short shot gun, two wide
receivers each way, beautiful nine. We thought there might be
some ready the forecast. There still might be, but sunshine
going down behind us here in the west horizon just
underway a mere pratt. They'll rotate in sometimes and they
go the heavy package at fullback. Now, Kamal Hilliard the
running back in motion from left to right. They'll form

(03:11):
trips to the white side of the field. Oden Spencer
rolling to his right, he stakes a snap under some terrest,
throws down the sideline, got single coverage out there incomplete,
knocked away.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
He was looking for that time.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
The intended receiver for Catholic Central was Dylan Daniels, the senior.
Good coverage over there by the Northview secondary, knocking it away,
forcing third and eight now coming up for Catholic Central.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, that one Spencer rolling out and throws a pretty
good ball. But I think if you're Daniels, what you
got to do is there is. You got to adjust
the ball thrown just a little bit underneath where he
was trying to go. It was supposed to be a
fly pattern, kind of gets caught in the crosswind there,
so he tries to adjust him. By the time he does,
the defensive back reacts is able to cover it and

(03:56):
knock it down.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Dean Armack is the senior tight end. They'll stack him
with the right out of thirty and eight slot to
the right. Andy Jacob number five is out there as well.
Oden Spencer under some pressure, flushed out of the pocket,
rolling to his right, looking down field under duress, throws
it up the sideline up for grabs. It a great
crab that time is hauling it in. Was Nick Shob
inside the thirty for a first down and more big

(04:19):
play over the top. It was just a jump ball situation.
Spencer got some here underneath his shop at number seven,
went up and got it. He's inside the northfield twenty
five and down to the twenty two yard line.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Well, and that's when if you're northview there, you gotta
get off the field. You feel like you get pressure too,
I mean you flush him from the pocket. Great penetration
by the middle line or team in the middle of
that offensive the defensive line. Carson gin and he flushes
Spencer all the way to the far side, and then
he just kind of throws up a prayer and Daniels

(04:49):
comes down with it.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Big thirty two yard game to keep the drive a line.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, that was a big one because it was a
fifty to fifty ball credit that time going up to
get it like a basketball player, Nick Shobb with the
rebound first down in ten. Now from the right hatse
they formed the slot left side, one wide receiver to
the right, and now Todd Colster little confusion with his offense,
gonna take an early time out here, nine to fifty
six left to go in the opening quarter.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
We'll keep it right here.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Remind you tonight's pregame show with all of our game
reporters and more and all the great features Rick Burkey,
like Gino's Gems being brought to you by J and
HS Family Stores with now sixty plus locations across Michigan

the way to your next game or on your way home.
And our starting lineups being brought to you by Sporting
You let's take you through the offensive lineman. They've always
got big offensive lineman for Catholic Central, but they got

(05:36):
some youngsters again. Offensive tackle Tommy will Bond is a
sophomore number seventy five.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Right next to him.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
On the right side guard is Walker Rucian, the sophomore.
Then you've got the center, Tommy Freeman, he's the experienced
senior leader. Kellen Thomas is only a freshman number seventy
two getting the start tonight, offensive guard on the left side,
and then Andrew ky Leen is the senior number seventy nine.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
So three underclassmen.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
But you know what Todd Colsters used to that they
do a good job of coaching up their offensive lineman
to be two or three year starters. First down to
ten play action, Spencer wants to fire to the back
of the end zone.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
His receiver falls down. Here comes the penalty flag. Yeah
that one.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
There's a little contact there and probably doesn't affect the play,
but you're right, that's gonna be the flag coming out.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And that's a tough one.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
The defensive backs from Northview early have struggled to stay
in coverage in Spencer, that's what he's able to do.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Is he able to extend the play that.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Time, he throws it over the top and unfortunately for
the Wildcats, that's a fifteen yard penal.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Actually probably half the distance based.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
On where the spot was at the original line of scrimmage,
but either way, a first down.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
He was looking for Shab that time, got his feet
tangled up with Julian Charity, the defensive back. So first
down in ten after the penalty, they work from just
outside the Northview ten yard line at the enleven slot left,
two backs to the backfield. Now Spencer under center takes
his snaphand off left side. First carry for him. You're
trying to bounce it outside if I was offensive line,

(07:02):
but nothing doing. Now gets a little rugby push, but
the north View defense was tough right there. They'll give
him forward progress inside the den about a yard and
a half second to long aid coming up for Catholic Central.
As we roll towards nine thirty left to go in
the opening quarter. This is the first possession.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Of the ball game Cougar starting with a football.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah, and two big plays early for them have been
a deep pass and a penalty, so running the football
has been tough. Go for the Cougars. They're gonna have
to establish that, though, Brett. They have to be able
to run the football effectively, if not spectacularly, just to
keep the defense honest.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Now from the left, hast Spencer under center.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Hilliard is in the iback formation he has swinging the
backfield to his right.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Sweeney committed it.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Purdue. Heck of a linebacker. They'll hand off the football
to him like they did. Here's a big body inside
the five, trying to fight his way to the end zone.
He's being pulled by one of his offensive linemen and
wide receivers, but short of the goal line. They stop
him at the one. I think he's going to get
a first down though, and a fresh set of downs.
First in goal Cathoic Central. That was just, hey, our
big guys coming right at you. We got a couple

(08:09):
of lead blockers for Catholic Central.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Well, now they get first in goal, they get four
cracks from the one yard line. If you're northview, this
is a tough spot because you clearly know that they
want to run as I think he grint. At least
they bring him the big lineup here thirty three A
mere Pratt now in at fullback, yup.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
They like to do that.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Outstanding defensive lineman plays nose guard on defense. You'll be with
the lead block and off Hilliard right side here, you're
trying to pick his way into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Touchdown. Catholic Central.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Number nine, Kamal Hilliard the senior following Amir Prout. As
you mentioned, they love that heavy set and he's the
lead blocker. With eight to eleven left to go in
the opening quarter, Catholic Central fires the first blow, extra
point up coming.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
They lead at six to nothing. A really good drive
there for Catholic Central. But the big play third and
eight on the initial series of downs they converted with
a thirty two yard pass from from there, it will
march down the field and get it into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Noah Zania number forty eight on to do the kicking
duties out of the hold of shob snap is a
good one.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Hold is down, up and good bye Zania.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
He's got a leg And with eight to eleven left
to go on the opening quarter, our score reads Grand
Rapids Catholic Central seven, Northview nothing. You're listening to a
weekend edition of the LMCU High School Football Game of
the Week live on this Friday nine here on ninety
six to one the game, Namal hillard one yard out

(09:38):
with the touchdown plungch for Catholic Central recap that Cougar's
scoring drive. As they leading now seven nothing, Zandia added
the extra point and now Zania goes with a short
cut of Hopper the kickoff fielded and grabbing it and
going right down and laying down with Jude to Britain,
the freshman tall wide receiver smart play to give North
View the football at the thirty five yard line. So

(10:00):
AJ Johnson in company the wide receiver for the Wildcats
out on display. First down in ten they go to
the air with their young quarterback only a junior, and
it is complete that time up the sideline enough for
a first town across to forty five to the forty six.
We're talking about Brayln Jefferson last year played on the

(10:21):
JV for Hudsonville. Transferred over and this kid's put up
some big numbers over thirteen hundred yards passing company. Pretty
balanced offense for Ryan Ochknock and the Wildcats. They throw
it a little bit more than they like to run it.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, Well, when you've got gamp back there, you clearly
are gonna still give him the rock on the ground,
but a lot of good receivers and like you said, Brayleen,
Jefferson can sure sling it.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Man in most day faith jet sweep and Jefferson trying
to run it over the right side was stacked up immediately.
This defense for Catholic Central is ultra tough. They say
it's one of the best that they've had. And as
you know, you've covered him for years with the East
Grand Rapid Sports. That's saying something that time Jacob brought
us on the tackle, big defensive lineman, senior up front.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well, and they've always been sounded defensively when they've had
the good teams, and you kind of think about, you know,
the great offensive numbers they've played up, especially the games
that we've done when they've played in the state finals,
like ooh, they did put all these points up. Well,
it's probably because the defense is gathered the ball back
so much so a lot of times that defense sets
up that potent offense. And they've got another good unit

(11:25):
this year.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Jefferson now setting up the offensive set on second night,
headoff jall Jalen Kant, nice cutback, He's got speed cross
the forty five into Cougar's territory.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
There he goes.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
First down and more inside the forty all the way
down to the thirty seven yard line.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
He's electrifying folks. He missed one game.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
These are his numbers in six games coming into one
hundred and six garies.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Five hundred and forty eight.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yards average is just under ninety two yards per game,
and he's got ten rushing touchdowns. He's a big play
waiting to happen coming into this context.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Yeah. I think the big thing is this change of direction.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Very few kids at the high school level we're able
to do it effectively and as fast as he's able
to do it.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
And you saw it there in the open field right there,
first down and ten fake to Gant across the middle,
big tight end Van Proyan, he was gonna be a concern.
Todd Colster told us he thinks he's underrated as far
as tight ends in the state of Michigan. He's inside
the twenty after that catch down to the nineteen yard line,
wide open the middle field that was set up with
the play action fake to gantt.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, and the play action there gets the linebackers frozen
and then Van Prey and right down the seam, and
the safety just absolutely not able to get down there
and help because obviously he's got deep coverage with the
receivers being three three wide.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
A handoff left side.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Good job by the Catholic Central defense stacking him up
with two or three guys around. Gant right at the
line of scrimmage, might have lost a yard to the twenty.
He did second and eleven was at the nineteen. They
rotated wide receivers in this offense for Ryan Oschnock due
to Britain. The freshman coming in very talented, goes about
six two sixty three. You got Gant, you got Van Proyn,

(13:03):
who's a playmaker at the tight end. Don't forget about
a J. Johnson number two back for his senior year.
Very explosive offense like you mentioned, and they're gonna need
some big plays to night Bucks. You know, jet sweep
trying to get it to the outside short side of
the field and there's just nothing but white jerseys. They
are Catholic Central gonna stop them for a loss. They're
going in the wrong direction back of the twenty four

(13:25):
yard line. So now third in we'll call it fourteen
coming up for the Wildcats, they at one point were
in the red zone of Catholic Central.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Trying to answer the score by GRCC.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
They try Logan Tyson on a jet sweep to the
short side, tried to catch Catholic Central napping a little bit.
Usually don't run that play, especially to the short side
on the high school field, because there's just so much
little room out there on the white hashes, and Catholic
Central's able to capitalize on that.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Now third and long.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Third and fourteen from the Catholic Central twenty three yard line.
As we roll under four thirty left to go open
the quarter back to pass, Jefferson throws across the middle.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Deflect it accepted by Catholic Central. Now coming back the other.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Way up the sideline, He's got some blockers across the
midfield tripe and finally knocked out abounds on the interception.
That time for Catholic Central, the old Jip Drill was
the strong safety.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
That's Dale Gant Junior, the senior. Well.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
I think when Braylan goes over this tape tomorrow morning,
he's gonna kick himself because he had Van Preuin wide
open on the numbers now, it wasn't gonna be a
first down, right, but he had plenty of room to
turn up field and run. But he made the decision
early to try to thread that needle in there. And
it's an unfortunate breakthrough of Northview because he gets tipped

(14:37):
up in into Gan's hands. But that's just a tough
throw there for Jefferson tried to do a little bit
too much, tried to pick up.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
The first down in one swing.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
I think, like I said, he'll look at that one
tomorrow and think I probably shouldn't have done that one.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Andy Jacob by the way, number five got his hand
down it to deflect it up and then the interception
that time Mike Gant Junior handoff right side, Hillard running
off and he puts his nose down inside the forty five,
kind of running over the right tackle and end and
he's down to the forty three yard line. As far
as forward progress between the forty three and forty four,

(15:12):
they'll give him six second and four good hard run
by number nine Kamal Hillard who had the first rushing
touchdown of one yard, and that one was intercepted buck
inside the tenth to a nice return All the way
out to the north view forty nine yard line.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
After that, I int yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Big return also helps set him up in good field
position again.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Two wide receivers left, one to the right out of
the pistol formation, play fake going right side. He's become
a better runner, stronger and more physical. And you see
that there with Odin Spencer close to the first down
marker inside the forty over the right edge down to
about the thirty nine yard line, they're gonna give him
a first down. Move the Jains as we go under
three thirty left to go on the opening corner here
at Wildcat Stadium, seven to nothing, grand up as Catholic Central,

(15:53):
and now the Cougar's trying to take advantage of ajournal significantly.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Better effort our riting in the first two plays by
the offensive line Catholic Central on the run plays, they
were getting stalemated on that first drive. And finally, even
though they were able to cash in from one yard,
even that Hillard run was a challenge. And now with
two really good runs to start this series, what.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Receiver stack tight to the right hand off Hillard up
the middle, breaks the tackle still on his feet, plants
his foot makes another guy missed inside the twenty and
he rambles his way down inside the fifteen down to
about the thirteen yard line.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
What a run by number nine the senior.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Kamal Hillard and Catholic Central now in the red zone
knocking on the door first and ten.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Well if I think that was.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Hayden Jones back there, Cantel was twenty or thirty eight,
but either way there was only one man to beat,
and Hillard right up the gut, I mean just a
quick hitter up on the a gap there and he
just goes right up the middle and beats even the
linebackers through the second level. And Hillard, with really good speed,
turns on the jets and gets it down inside the

(16:59):
red zone.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
We have dark red numbers on black jerseys, so bear
with us, folks for Northview and the all black uniforms,
the red caps, the white and on the side Catholic
Central and they're all white visiting uniforms with the blue
trim and blue numbers.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Hand off.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Now first carry dancing his way through, gets a crease.
Nice job of the offensive line inside the ten, down
inside the five yard line, down to about the two
on to carry that time for Catholic Central was Moses Brown,
the senior number zero. They'll rotate him in and again
just a big hole that time over the left side
by the center in the guard, Tommy Freeman, that senior

(17:34):
veteran lineman up front, getting the work done with his teammates,
and they're gonna say from the two.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
First in goal. Catholic Central already up seven to nothing.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
We roll into two minutes left to go first quarter handoff,
Brown cuts back left side and he walks into the
end zone. Catholic Central back to back, scores the turnover
Wisconsi for Northfview, and just like that, it's thirteen nothing
Cougars over the Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Well, first one, a lot of passing or at least
asking attempts, this one all on the ground. Very good
offensive line play by the Cougars in Northview on the
quick change, just.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Did not react well and now in a little bit
of a hole.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
So Nick shab on to hold another extra point attempt
coming up for Zanya the junior kicker snap a go
and hold his down.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
In rhythm.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Kick is up and it is good. Zania splits the
uprights and so with one thirty seven left to go,
here in the opening quarter. What a start for the
visiting Cougars of ground rapp is Catholic Central trying to
claim the outright OK Black Division. Crowd will a win tonight.
They lead at fourteen to nothing. We'll come back with
more after this on ninety six to one the game

(18:48):
Repegita bung Gino back here at Wildcat Stadium, Northview High School.
Fourteen nothing graphics Catholic Central. Let's recap the scoring so far,
and what a start for Catholic Central taking advantage of
that int in that last possession.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Opening in six plays, three minutes and forty nine seconds,
fifty six yards, the last three feet of that covered
by Hillard. The tat was good seven to nothing. And
then Catholic Center after the interception by Gant, goes down
the field forty nine yards and Moses Brown cashes in
and that makes the score fourteen to nothing.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
First down in ten Jefferson deep ball post pattern throwing
it in a double coverage knocked away. The intended receiver
that time for the Wildcats was Logan Tyson. But over
there defensively to make the plane got sand in there
was Keith Yanderanoah yeah, and I.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Think he heard some footprints coming across that. It was
a catchuple ball, and he thought he was gonna get one,
and you're right, there was a hand in there, but
he had the safety coming in late, and that was
gonna be a tough one even if he did catch it,
because he was gonna have to hold on. And then
with Stan the blow, it's just a tough throw there

(19:53):
by Jefferson. If he throws it in stride, he was
still could be going, oh, someone leaving him.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Wait early. I was gonna say, okay, we're not going
this isn't the CFL, is it? No? Okay, we can't.
That's no good.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
By the way, this Norfew drive started at their own
thirty five because it was Zane yet kicking out of
the bounds, trying to angle it towards a sideline, So
penalty flags came out. Now a five yard penalty, gonna
move north through back second and fifteen one thirty three
left to opening quarter fourteen nothing growing up.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
It's Catholic Central.

Speaker 1 (20:22):

churches as well. Fourteen nothing. Jefferson takes his snap out
of the pistol formation and off gan't nowhere to go.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Great job by the Catholic Central defense.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
And one of the first guys there, and they had
two or three in the area, was Brody Warner, the
senior linebacker for Catholic Central up in a hurry on
run support.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
I tried to get Catholic Central spread out again, a
three wide receiver to the far side set and they'd
run short side. That's something that coach Oshnack likes to do,
try to get the team snapping because they don't pay
as much attention to that short side.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
And so far Catholic Central has passed the tests.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Eight seniors and then three very talented sophomores make up
this starting eleven. Defensively for Todd Colster and Catholic Central,
it's giving up less than a.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Touchdown of game.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Folks coming in third and fifteen back to pass, Jefferson
flushed out of the pocket. I mean you're prac giving
Chase Jefferson gonna run for it and they will stop him.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Short. Good job by Jefferson.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
The wa he crossed the forty positive yardage out to
the forty one. It'll be fourth and four for coach
Oshnock and the Wildcats.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
But from their own forty one, I don't think you
could risk it here, well, especially down fourteen. And that's
where that false start penalty comes into play. If they
didn't have that, Jefferson's right there picking up the first
down with that scamper.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Instead, it's gonna bring in a punting situation. And now, well, I.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Think they're gonna let the quarter run out.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Did they have to run a play? They will run
it out. Okay, they're gonna let it run out.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah. I think they realize that.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Coach Ashnock sent him out there and he said, well
the way Catholic Central's a respawning Okay.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
We'll just wait for the second. I don't need to
give him any more ammunition.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
So after one here at Wildcats Stadium in Northview, fast
moving first quarter, it's Grand Rapids Catholic Central fourteen, Northview.
Nothing Cougar's about to get the football back a week
come back after this on ninety six to one the game,
Roman Kaufin to boot it away for Norfew and lookout,
first man down there for the Wildcats making the tackle

(22:36):
on the return and he went absolutely nowhere that time
back deep was dale gann Junior, the senior. Great job
by the cover team for Norview as he stopped dead
in his tracks at the twenty one yard line. So
good job of the Northview cover team. Will see if
their defense can may be forced a turnover or get
to stop his. Catholic Central, led by the sophomore quarterback

(22:56):
Odin Spencer, his second year as a starter, started last
year as a freshman, brings the Cougars out.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Well.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
That was a really key play because after the interception
and the big return on the opening kickoff, Catholic Central
dejoyed pretty good field position. Special team's now coming up
big for north View and hopefully for them, maybe he
can swing the field a little bit.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Spencer moves to tight end over from right to left
the white side of the field, hand off Hillard and
he was danced his way through the whole left side,
then hit a brick wall, nothing but black defenders there.
With the Black Shirts stopping him at the twenty five
yard line. He did get positive Yannitzo, nice pick up
of four on first down, second and six. By the way,

(23:35):
that first quarter flew by being brought to you by
a Straight Line Fence Fencing Company and Grand Rapids with
a personal touchoff for both residential and commercial fencing projects.
Call today for your free estimate at six one, six, four,
four three twenty five fifty or visit Straight Line Fences
dot Com. Fourteen nothing Grapids Catholic Central with the football
here early in the second quarter from their own territory,

(23:56):
handoff Hillard on the delay that time out of the
fistol formation. Good job of the North Few defense got
a couple, but he's gonna be still well short of
the first down, third and four coming up.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Give him two well, third and four. This is the
dangerous position if you're in a Few defense because of
Spencer's running ability, the other weapons that they have at
their disposal.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Now they'll bring in Jacob Rodas, who is normally on defense.
He is going to come in play, probably in h
back or full back position. So that would lead you
to believe that they want to run. But coach Kolscher
always that deep bag of tricks that he's got, maybe
reaching in one for here.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Owen teetam is split wide right by himself. They'll go
tight with a slot left working from the left hatch.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, they actually go twelve personnel, so two tight ends,
two wide receivers, and one running back.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Be interesting what they come up.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
With here, taking a lot of time signaling it over
on the sideline, so.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
No safety over the top.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Third down and four spencer out of the pistol formation
takes a snap. Maked Hilard get a design quarterback keeping
himself over the left side, got a first down, and
more Ram led across the thirty five pushing the pile
with to help his offensive lineman out across the forty
to about the forty two yard line. Nice pick up
there of nearly fifteen Catholic central moves.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
To James first and ten. Well, they get everybody in tight.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Defensively, nobody really five yards past the line of scrimmage,
but good blocking on that left side, and because they
have to occupy territory over there, they had to spread
the defense out across the line of scrimmage. They were
able to get a good block and at that point
of attack and Spencer hits it hard.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Oh Spencer left early in that middlefield, thrown up a
killow game. They barely pulled out ten nothing where they
relied on their defense because of a bad hip hand
off right side Hillard and a good job by that.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Northview defense up front.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
They've got some bigs up front and on the tackle
that time was Thomas.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Gillette for norfew.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
One of the guys that's back from a year ago
that he remembers, DeAndre Johnson. He's a load up front
of that defensive line. We got two good, really nose
cards in this game. And you look at Mary Pratt
on the other side too.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, and he's got a you know, they've had a
little bit of trouble early on kind of anchoring that down.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Also there in the middle, Casey Dunning, he's got some
size Salvatore as well. Cross the middle.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Ordon Spencer wide open on the back side, running down
the sideline after the catch inside of the.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Thirty fifteen ten five. They won't catch him all the
way to the house.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Dean Armack, the senior tight end, he got behind the corner.
There was no safety over on that side, and a
beautiful throw by Spencer instrode.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
He turned it up.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
No one was there and he put on the afterburners
in just like that. Catholic Central of a quick strike.
They lead it down twenty to nothing.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Well, they run play action, a very nice play call
there because they put the defensive backs in conflict, not
only with the play action but then running Armack up
the seam. There was a cornerback over there, but because
of the way that they had the formation, there just
wasn't a lot of help. He had to come down
into the formation and then well it's just pick who

(27:04):
do I cover?

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Urmack's wide open over the top.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Saying you had attack on the extra point. It's up
and it is good, folks. This was a twelve to
three win by Norfiew last year at Couger STATEUM and
I know year to year it differs, but when you
look at Catholic Central, they've relied heavy on their defense
and they put up twenty one points here and we're
still early in the second quarter against Norfield.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
We'll keep it right here.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Twenty one nothing our score Grand Rapids Catholic Central, and
I guess they're sending a message.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Not only the rest of the OK.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Black division, but anyone in Division five, the number one
ranked team in the state this week book, you know,
our only number one team in the West Michigan area,
trying to make it eight and zero, and Todd Colster's
got to be fired up because they still have some
guys that are out. They've got some guys back due
to injury. They're not completely healthy. But boy, they've been
impressive here tonight in all phases.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Yeah, and I think you know, you look at the
performances they've had, especially of the year they had last
year eight five and with a very young team still
getting to the semifinals and Division five but clearly not
their best entry.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
And this year is still some doubts.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Right, I mean, including from guys like me, like what
are they gonna be able to do well?

Speaker 3 (28:13):
This performance tonight's.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Gonna go long away and tug people what they are
capable of.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Zanya little chip shot hits of the twenty that's a
free football coming up to gather it and trying to
avoid the white jersey. Does get some positive hours across
the twenty five to the twenty six. Good kicking by
seeing you. We've seen that more this year. But you know, guys,
that are really skilled and could just kind of place
it in. What a difference that makes on the return
that time for Norfew was Christian Jensen for the Wildcats.

(28:45):
The sophomore dB starts at corner for Ryan Aschnock. So
first down and ten not bad field position for the
Wildcats from the twenty six. And we talked about this before,
We said, nor ifew really in this game at home,
has to get the crowd behind him get off to
a quick start. That does not happen, but credit Catholic
Central they certainly have.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Yeah, and that's what Kathy Central wanted to do. They
wanted to get out and quiet this crowd because they
knew that if north you got them going, it's gonna
give them an extra boost.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Jefferson handoff gan't right side.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Catholic Central defense bottles up number one at defensive front.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Look at Sweeney leading the way going to Purdue next year.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Also in there at one of those talented softmores that
I was telling you about, number thirty, Malachai.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Young well doing a very good job so far.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
After the first couple of series bottling up, and you
feel like North View they're gonna have to throw the
football to have some success and come back into this
game and Braylen Jefferson already with the one interception.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Two wide receivers to the right, one to the left,
Fan Proy and now out in the flats they fire strike.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Jefferson's got him, but.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Immediately dropped after a short gain at the twenty nine.
Great open field tackle that time, and I tell you
they were all over that and flying around.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
To the football. Catholic Central is fired up.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Keith Jander Noah on the stop over there, Sweeney as well.
They are talented just across the board. They're linebackers and
secondary making his place well.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Van Preign runs just a flat route out to the
far side and he's open, but good covering speed by
Jane Ronoah there gets him before he could turn up field.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Jefferson first year as a varsity starter, coming over from Huttsville,
swings out in the flats, makes a man miss. Now
lowering his shoulder across the thirty out across the thirty five,
he's close to that first down, Marko.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
And I think he's got it.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Van Preying great effort that time, just like a pass
out in the flat, and he did the rest and
he fought off at least a couple of GRCC hits
defensively to get that first down.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Well, that's what they're looking for.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
The mistackle right at the line of scrimmage or thereabouts,
and then Van Pryn just does their s lowers the shoulders,
the head, the whole thing is, goes bantering ram mode
and gets it across.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
The line the gate.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Nor if you had to keep this drive alive, play
action cross the midnute out finding the freshman makes the tackle.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
There's the defensive back covered Sweeney over.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
There as well, but number four for Catholic Central, that's
one of the sophomores I was talking about. Grayson Tidd
stops him, but not before the freshman picks up nine.
Nice job and quick delivery that time, get it his
get it a football out.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Of his hands by Jefferson. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
The play action just really there to freeze the defense
just that much and then let Britain get into the
pattern and a good delivery there by Jefferson picks up nine.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
I've been impressed with you to Britain.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
I mean, he's got a great wide receiver body, good
app let us, good strength there because he was taking
some shots for a game of nine. Had off Ghant
the senior left side, just.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Nowhere to go. They're right in the hole waiting for him.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
That time it was Jack Kepke the junior linebackers stopping
him for no gain. Might have lost a half yard
back inside the forty five and shy the forty four.
So North you gonna send out a heavier package. Third
and a yard coming up. As we rolling to the
halfway point of the second quarter, five fifty three and
tacking twenty one, nothing grand up its cap central with.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Norview trying to keep a trive alive here. Well, third
and one, now this one's critical for North. You already
down three scores. Got I feel like you can pick
it up. Going with a full back lead handoff.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Gan had to dance a little bit, found a Christy.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
He's got the first down, followed his bullback wisely, and
then danced in the hole to forty seven and out
to the forty nine yard line. That'll move the chains
needed one got about five first in ten wildcats.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Well, he was supposed to go over the tackle to
follow the fullback. You're right though, he cuts it inside. Boy,
Just such a quick feet that Gan has. I mean
it just a little jump cut to the inside and
finds a little crease.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Doesn't need a lner room.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
He's not that big of a guy, but boy shifty
and quick in traffic.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
It picks up the first down. A J.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Johnson's been quiet. What a leading wanted to series for
the Wildcats. Now across the middle has his man breaks
the back of the forty down inside the Cougars thirty.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
To twenty nine yard line.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
On the catch that time Zach Jefferson, the junior wide out,
another big target number.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Well, the delayed the play action is delaying those safeties
because they have to respect that run game. They just
get in that slight delay and then the linebackers. What
it's doing is it's keeping them out of the flow.
They don't get to get their drops. It's just giving
Jefferson enough time. I mean, these are not big deep passes,

(33:21):
which are usually what you associate with play action. They're
quick hitters. But just getting the defense to freeze quickly
enough is opening.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Up those lanes Van proy and they motion them over.
Now they throw to the big target. Great Cats at time,
but stripped of the football.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Catholic Central's got inside the fifteen Van Proyen made a
beautiful catch one up and made it behind him, adjusted
his body, but as he came down it was running free.
A Catholic central defenders stripped it and the Cougars recovered.
Another turnover for the Wildcats inside the fifteen yard line
of GRCC.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Well, that one Van prey into the hack of a catch,
throws a little bit behind him, dodges the safety who
is trying to break on the football, and then just
as he turns up field doesn't quite see the defender
and it gets it stripped from behind and CC Johnny
on the spot there and boy, it's just a tough
break Northview. Two times inside the red zone and two turnovers.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Want to correct myself, furlier I said, Jefferson was Zach
Johnson to made the catch from Jefferson on the play
before that. Now, penalty flags come out as Spencer takes
a snap on first and ten, another costly turnover Fryan
Ostock's Wildcats as they go over to the video board
to take a look with their offense. But they were
moving the football there and a score would have been
big to try to cut this twenty one to nothing lead.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Well, now with Catholic Central taking the opening kickoff.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Northview felt like if they could get a score there,
maybe get a stop at the end the half, and
then you're maybe cooking with gas because you get that
first ball or you get the first posession of the
second half, and now you've just got to fight kind
of claw and hold on with their fingernails to make
sure it stays. Twenty one to nothing fall.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Start against scred up as Catholic Central backs to Cougar's
five first and fifteen from their own nine yard line.
After the Thumber recovery, twenty one to nothing Cougars in
this ok Black showed out with four to twenty two
left to go before half done. Stay with us for
the whole Jeffson Physical, the Airpy halftime show coming up.
Scores in more and game reports with Rick Burkley and
our crew of game reporters. Great Games Tonight. Ohden Spencer

(35:18):
wants to go to the air complete. Got his man
that was the guy who caught the touchdown passed just
moments ago and Dean Armack the tight end the little
down and alt pattern to the near sideline and complete
at the fifteen so he gets the penalty yardage back
eight of five second and ten coming up for GRCC.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yeah, they go empty.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
There got a spy Spencer in the backfield, which leaves
man on man coverage. With that tight end, Urba gets
the leverage inside a little quick out pattern picks up
a nice six yards.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Working on the linebackers, and they've got some good linebackers here,
some youngsters. Ben van Freuen, the sophomore on the outside
along with Brady Hutchins. We're in thirty eight tonight, second
and ten, Spencer back to pass, setting up a little
bubble screen that's blown up by the northfield defender. An
incomplete ballpop loose, but there is a penalty flag and
this one might be thrown on the back of the

(36:09):
late hit against Spencer.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah, there was a Blitzer coming in free and the
pass was well out of Spencer's hand, and it wasn't
really a vicious hit, but I mean it's clearly after
the pass are thrown, that's just a bad mistake there.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
You gotta let that one go.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
And your your team had the coverage in boy Northew
just really every time they've had something go their way,
something immediately goes right against them.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
I was just gonna say two turnovers now a costly
penalty there after they got an income.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
I mean it's third nine there, you know, if you
don't do that instead, it's first and ten, and you
bump them out and field position wise with.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
The penalty yardage out to the thirty yard line of
Grand appts. Catholic central spencer out of the pistol formation,
trips to the left. They'll move from right to left,
Armack that tight end over there, Hillar to his left
hand off Hiller left side, trying to bounce it outside,
breaks the tackle, spins free, penalty, flag comes out. I
think this one's going to be a hold on the

(37:07):
Catholic central offensive line. But we'll wait and see hillard
out to the thirty four yard line for big of
about four.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
I mean, well, when they put it right at the
line of scrimmage, right where the offensive line was, it's
a leading indicator.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
So we'll be a hold against Catholic Central this one
coming back.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
And you know, execution now getting a little bit sloppy
here for both teams and coach. Both coaches a little perturbed,
probably coach Ashack a little northern coach Golston twenty.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
What nothing, By the way, Hulst Jepson Physical Therapy halftime show.
Tonight's players have worked trying to get their bodies ready
for competition. Hulst Jepson Physical Therapy wants you and them
to stay in the game no matter what level of
activity desire. They get patients here within twenty four to
forty eight hours. Hulst Jepson Physical Therapy, Historian, Body Reviving
Spirits all coming up with Rick and the crew at

(37:57):
the break three zero seven.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
A ticket left to.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Go moving up front and this could be another penalty
fall start.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
Yeah, and Catholic Central.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Well, the problem was is they checked off what they
normally do to look to the sideline, but the lineman
came out of the set and then went back down.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
If he just stays up.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
He could have reset after they came back to the
line of scrimmage, but instead he went right back down.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
And that's the false start.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
If you're just tuning in fourteen to nothing Catholic Central
in the first quarter, they've added seven more here, but
a fumble recovery for the Cougars and also an interception
that set up that one scoring drive for GRCC has
certainly been a difference in this ballgame. Norfew just can't
put any points up on the board. Two forty two
and ticket left to go first in a country mile literally,

(38:45):
first and twenty five for Catholic Central. Oh, dangerous past
there Spencer trying to swing it out in the flats, incomplete,
but there was a guy in the area that might
have been able to pick that off, Dylan Daniels with
the intended target. So here you go if you're nor
Few forcing a third twenty five now deep in Catholic
Central territory. Sorry, second and twenty five.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Well, after all of those things, that was the second
play of the drive with all the penalties. So a run,
a pass of six yards and then several penalties and
then an incomplete pass. So really the only the second
one that's counted, and it feels like a long drive,
but it really isn't because of all the penalties. But
you're right, Brent, Now second and about a four iron

(39:26):
for the Catholic Central Cougars, and I think, yeah, if
you're coach Colster, you just make sure that you don't
make a bad mistake here.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
At the end of the second quarter.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Went back to the left and design quarterback draw Odin
Spencer over the left side. Great job by North you
to stop it for a short gain out to the twenty.
That's about it, and Northview is going to take a
time out here yep can serve their clock to twenty
nine left to go toime out of the field, will
step U side as well, to twenty nine left to go.
Second quarter, it's growing up. It's Catholic Central twenty one

(39:58):
North Year nothing. You're listening to the LM you high
school football game of the week here on ninety six
to one the game Bong Gino back here and a
jam pack Wildcat stadium.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
What a beautiful night for football. We worried about rain.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
We still might get maybe some of the second half,
but right now it's been all about this start.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
For granappit's Catholic Central.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
After the timeout, Kugers lead twenty one nothing but facing
a third and twenty five coming up. They haven't changed
that after the one game, so third about twenty for
GRCC Spencer now running left side. He wanted to throw
up a good coverage downfield, just tucking in, trying to
get what he could cross the twenty five and they'll
spot him out at about the twenty seven. Maybe twenty

(40:42):
eight yard line, so fourth and thirteen coming up for GRCC.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Kach Ashnak spends another time out, so they'll have one
left when they get the football back here. And I
like that by Spencer. It's third and twenty. Yeah, of
course you're gonna maybe go for it, but he sees
that there's just nothing availab and as a three score game,
you've got all the momentum. Just pull it down, take
what you can get, and you know, don't try to
fight for extra yardage, just get what you can. That's

(41:09):
and I think that's where you see the maturation of
a kid like Spencer who's played varsity football at the
freshman year. Right, he's played at the varsity levels of freshmen,
so now as a sophomore, not always he matured physically,
but mentally.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
It's a really smart play there.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Just get a couple more yards, let your punter do
the work here and keep the clock running. The last
thing you want to do there is try to make
a bad throw that doesn't really need to be made,
and then it's incomplete, then you let North you have
another time out.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
By the way, our Lake Shore game of the Week
tonight featured another seven to zero team from the area.
How about Kent City the Eagles hosting Try County. A
bit of a rivalry there the CSAA crossover game. But
Kent City ranked in the state in Division six seven
to oh, we've got Catholic Central rank number one in
the state division five to that at seven to zero,
lots of fun across the radio dow. They'll kick it

(41:58):
away Spencer out of a kind of long shotgun and flying.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Out of the field.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
He's gotta crease and Spencer finally has to drag him
down into Northfield territory. What a return that time inside
the thirty and they'll knock him out at about the
twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
It was a shorter kick return.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Yeah, really nice progressive last year, remember we covered him
against Holland Christian Colin Gester number nine on the fly
takes it all the way back into here we go.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
I mean they kicked it from the twenty seven and
well they could have just said here, you just have
it right here because that's where they started off from
scrimmage and Spencer a touchdown, saving Tankle because guessper was off.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
To the races. You know what.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
I loved it that a lot of people don't do
as far as punt return go up and fielded on
the fly.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Now they dump it into the middle.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Van Prouyen, he's got some running room inside the twenty.
Big fella down near that first down marker, wide open
the middle fielders. They were coming after Jefferson that time
on first and ten pick a of eight, second and two,
just inside the red zone at the nineteen.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
I mean, man, and you know coach Colster when he
says something's gonna be a problem, he means it. Ed
Proyan has been a problem for the Cougars defense.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
How about Kester though, I'm getting over on that return
from about his own thirty five to set him up
inside the Catholic central thirty thrown across his body to
Van Preyan once again, Number nine is the big target
and Jefferson and now they stack him up forward progress
he'll get the first down inside the fifteen of GRCC
to about the twelve. I tell you what he's going

(43:33):
to be playing on college football Saturday. It's no doubt
about it. He has been a beast. Number eight. Excuse me,
I said nine. Nine is guessner eight and we're talking
about Jack Van Preyan Yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
The one thing you gotta be careful though, as we
saw in the fumble, you just gotta make sure you
throw it to him in stride. Don't get him caught
because he's in the middle of the field most of
the time.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Can't Now gonna get the carry.

Speaker 1 (43:52):
See what he can do inside the ten cup back
of the five, fighting for the end zone.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
Touchdown, Taylor Cans.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
Here come the wild Cats with one oh nine left
to go first half. That was pretty by Jalen Gat
and he showed his change of direction like you talked
about bung Gino and so shifty in there and then
just kicked it into another gear, leaned the football out
and he takes it in for a norfe you score.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
I mean, he hits the hole and then it's like
a video game ch like he was here, but.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
Now he's over here, And how did he get over here? Right?

Speaker 2 (44:26):
He was, I was right in front of him, and
now he's over here. And then he accelerates and you're right.
Just the good extension. A fantastic open field runner again,
his eleventh rushing touchdown of the season.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
As Sanchez on to try the extra point, hold is
down and a good snapkick is up and it is
good by the sophomore. So hold the phone. One oh
nine left to go here. First half, north View's on
the board. It's Catholic Central twenty one north View seven
back with more and Wildcat Stadium after this on ninety
six to one the game, So.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
What twelve beyond touchdown?

Speaker 1 (45:03):
US tack on the extra point for Northview by Jalen Gant,
their senior running back, is eleventh of the season, as
I mentioned, now makes it a fourteen point lead for
Grandft's Catholic Central twenty one seven with Sanchez a bob
to kick it off, moving right to left on your
radio dial. Catholic Central, I think probably just gonna be

(45:24):
content here. It's a low hopper taken by one of
the up twenty five trying to bounce to the outside
and then grabbed and thrown down. So he crossed the
thirty Shy of the thirty five on the return for
Catholic Central was Owen Tetema, the senior wide receiver, and
so let's see what Tom Coaster wants to do here.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
I think you take a couple of shots.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Certainly they've been effective tight ends crossing the middle and
then kind of going up the sideline getting lost in
the secondary with his zone coverage. But I mean, you
gotta be happy for the Catholic central twenty one to
seven even well, and I know.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
That Spencer took last week off.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
I also don't think you want to expose him to
too many possibilities where he could take a hard hit, right,
And so I mean, yes, he's clearly comfortable running the football.
He looks fine, but it's like, Okay, do we really
need to expose him here? We're up fourteen, and you
do want to try to get that one back, but
with a minute and three and two timeouts, can.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
You do it?

Speaker 1 (46:18):
Danielson teat him in the slot. Right, Spencer takes a
snap first down in ten lookout and he's gonna be
swallowed up for a sack as the pocket has collapsed
around him. Good job by the north View front five
and they drop him for a loss back at the
thirty yard line. So let's see if that changes. Kind
of Todd Colster's thoughts here. Loss of three sets up
second and thirteen. Good job by the north View front.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
Well, you knew that they were going to be aggressive,
the least on first down because they got to see
what comes of it. But now with second down, you know,
and they're not taking any timeouts. With time winding down
here in North, you'd probably settle in a little bit
softer zone.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
Two wat of series right to the left and now
throw back on the left side, coming back to get
as the wide receiver at about the thirty two thirty three.

Speaker 3 (47:03):
Then turns up fielding gets it to the.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Thirty four yard line on the reception that time was
Nick Schab the senior wide out at front three. They
go with three down line and Candray Johnson Salvatore and
also Casey Dunny and Gothic central. I think is gonna
let the half run out. They won't want another play. Yeah,
me too.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Yeah, I mean it's twenty one to seven and the
first down play if you get if you get something there,
maybe maybe you start to try to get something going.
But after that sacond first down, Coach Colster's thinking, we again,
you don't need to give North you any more momentum.
They already got some back by the guests in a
return in the touchdown, so don't need to let them
in the game anymore than has already happened.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
So we had to have both teams out of their
respective locker rooms and after twenty four minutes of football,
here it is grand app It's Catholic Central twenty one
Northview seven. Stay with us the whole Jepson Physical Therapy
halftime show with Rick Burkey and all our live game
reporters coming up next after this on lfcu's high School
Football Game of the Week nainety six to one.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
The game.

Speaker 4 (48:13):
Thanks for joining us for the whole Steps and Physical
Therapy halftime show. It goes fast. It's been our great
reporter to the great job getting the updates to you
live and we got the scores. The staff pulling the
gang here working feverishly to get all those scores to you.
Got a good one in our ninety six to one
game of the week, important okay black matchup Catholic Central
getting the better of it. Catholic Central won of four
undefeated teams in West Michigan. They're trying to stay perfect.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
Guys.

Speaker 4 (48:35):
You got two more quarters to call in between the
Cougars and the Wildcats.

Speaker 1 (48:38):
All right, thank you, Rick, Appreciate that great job at
halftime with the Holst Jepson Physical Therapy Halftime Show where
here both teams are making their way out on of
the plane surface of Wildcats Stadium. It was fourteen to
nothing Grand Rapids Catholics Central after one, and then a
couple of turnovers were costy for Norfeus who went through
that first half book Gino to set up gard up
as Catholic Central. But it was seven to seven as

(49:00):
far as the second quarter scoring. Thus our score at
the break twenty one to seven in favorite ground up,
it's Catholic Central. Let's do our MKD Funeral Homes scoring
recap right now of how we got to that point.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
Fuck Cathic Central on their opening drive, converting a third
and eight on the first series of downs that gave
them the momentum to go fifty six plays. Their fifty
six yards and six plays Camal Hillard. The pat was
good from one yard out as Hillard plunged it in.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
It was seven to nothing Catholic Central.

Speaker 2 (49:29):
Then after a turnover they go five plays forty nine
yards after an interception and this one by Moses Brown
crashes in from two yards out and it's fourteen to
nothing Cougars after one. They continue to roll a fifty
nine yard touchdown pass on third down from Ode to
Spencer to armac. Pat was good by Zania and it

(49:50):
was twenty one to nothing in favor of the Cougars.
All Cougars, all the time, and the fans here at
Northfield High School started to get a little bit restless.
But after trading some punts, a Colin Gesner big punt
return set up easy field position for the Wildcats and
then twelve yards out it was Jalen Gan't scampering into

(50:11):
the end zone and the pat was good. And that
gets us to where we stand right now at halftime
CC twenty one and Northview seven.

Speaker 1 (50:20):
So our first half scoring summary being brought to you

dot com. And that leads us right into what I
know is going to be a big second half kickoff
as a part of your vandaliont home improvement. Keys to
this second half.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
Buck Well, I think for North View they have to
make some special plays on special teams.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
We've seen good returns by both teams.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Quite honestly, I think that's going to be the equalizer
for the Wildcats though, And they also just I mean,
you can't give hec the ball two extra times. That's
just not winning football. I don't care who you are.
If you give the Cougars the ball two extra times
on turnovers, especially as deep as they were into Cougar territory,
that's just going to be very tough to overcome. And
then for the Catholic Central Cougar is their keys. What

(51:18):
they've got to do. They've got to play like a
zero zero.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
They're up twenty one to seven, but Northew had momentum
coming into the second half, which means they really want
to stop that here.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
To get a stop on the first series on the
second half, and then they just have to really play
clock management, long drives, keep Northew's offense off the field.

Speaker 3 (51:41):
They can do that, they're gonna get out of here
with a victory.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
All right, there's your keys to the contest for the
second half. Those adjustments in the locker room by both
coaches vandal on Home improve It brings you those with
eighty years in the business. They're still doing exterior projects
getting you ready for winter roofing, siding windows. Find out
more at Vandalian's double A on lines Vanderlin lines dot

the board, that's into two hundred dollars for.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
The Touchdowns for Kids campaign.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
We're building up with just this week and one more
week left we do it for the regular season and
buck Gino. Going into play tonight, we were just under
five thousand dollars forty eight and fifty dollars donated courtesy
of LMCU to help support Kids Food.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
We had a slow start, but then well we've ramped
it up here in the past couple of weeks, especially
last week, and UH hopefully to keep that trend continuing.
And it's always a great cause to donate to Kids
Food Basket. Thank you to the sponsor LMCU.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
It'll be Noah Zanya a junior kick and a kick
it off for Catholic Central. Moving left to right at
your radio dow Kicking towards the south end zone, he
approaches short chip shot kick hits and that's a live ball.

Speaker 3 (52:51):
Good job by Norfew.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
One of the guys that was up front came back
and got it inside the thirty. He's so good at that,
it's like a little web shot like Buck Gino sticks
it right to the pin with his golf game, as
that one went right up in the air literally one
of the guys that had come back and field it
because the guys were a little too deep and that
could have been disastrous. But first and ten, nor if
he takes over on their own twenty seven yard.

Speaker 2 (53:13):
Line, yeah, I think if you're Northview, you probably want to.
If you have to, you probably think, boy, I hope
we don't have to do that anymore. But if you
do have to return to kick, you probably swing the
return guys up and maybe go single safety in the
back and try to get guys close because clearly they're
gonna try to pin you down there.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
With that chip shot kick.

Speaker 1 (53:31):
Junior quarterback Branln Jefferson leads out the Wildcats on first
and ten, two out of series the right, two to left,
and they motioned a man that way clost the middle
and it's picked off. He threw it too short looking
for a j Johnson coming back the other way up
the nearest sideline and steps out of bounds on the
interception for Catholic Central. The second of the night for
that Cougars defense was Brody Warner, the senior linebacker.

Speaker 2 (53:55):
Boy, and that's just Jefferson has him open downfield, he
just does not put enough under the football and I
mean that's there's no place for the receiver to catch
that ball. I mean he had him over the top
and he short. He threw it short by wake five yards.
And that's just an unfortunate play for Northview because that's
what the exactly could not do. Couldn't give see to

(54:17):
see the ball again and also couldn't give up territorial advantage.

Speaker 3 (54:20):
Well, both of those happened right on that play.

Speaker 1 (54:22):
Oden Spencer first and ten under center inside the Wildcats
thirty after the turnover handoff the Hillard has already got
one rushing touchdown, by the way individual numbers in that
first half, seven carries for forty two yards and that
touchdown to lead the way for the Cougars offense. Number nine,
the senior running back in there, takes it down to
the twenty six yard line for a gain of two.
They'll give him second eight as they work from the left.

(54:45):
Hash just underway here. Third quarter and already the third
turnover the night. Second is in t for the Northview Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
Well, and they've bottled up the run game as North
Hugh's defense. But getting the ball inside the thirty to
start just not ideal. If you're in the Northview sideline,
you try to get the ball back here at least
get a stop and make Cec try to kick a
field goal.

Speaker 1 (55:08):
Jacob and Shob in the slot right hand off Hillard
finding his ways, he picks a little crease, he gets
skinny in there, as I like to say, inside the
twenty down to him out the seventeen yard line.

Speaker 3 (55:18):
That should be enough for another.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
First out and they'll move the chains, keep that clock winding. Boy,
this would be a tough one for Norfield, like you said,
trying to get some momentum back to start this second half.
And they get the interception and now put their defense
up against the wall here.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Yeah, you go from bad to worse with that. Now
it's putting two here. Gotta be careful if Odin Spenser
going up top for the.

Speaker 1 (55:41):
Kill shot shops in the slot, keep an eye on him.
Two backs to the backfield handoff. Hiller's got a lead block
look out inside the ten, spun around and oh Man
a touchdown saving tackle at the five. The cornerback came
crashing down. Otherwise it was off to the races that time. Well,
good job there by Hillary. Also to protect the football.
It's a pretty good swing by the arm of the defender.

(56:03):
Almost knocked that one loose. Christian Jensen, the sophomore quarterback,
make the touchdown saving tackle.

Speaker 3 (56:09):
First in goal.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
Handoff hillard left side from the five and fights his
way down. Here goes the rugby scrum at the three.
Give him a couple second and goal coming up twenty
one to seven. Catholic Central looking to add to their
lead here after their defense came up with an interception
on the opening drive of this second half.

Speaker 3 (56:29):
And now they'll go heavy.

Speaker 1 (56:30):
Package with Jacob brought us the senior number forty five.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
Well, they're gonna go again, twelve personnel probably line up
right across there. This is what they like to do
when they get into short yardage territories. Put guys in
conflict down the edge with that two tight end set.

Speaker 1 (56:51):
Spencer out of the short shotgown hand off hillard left
side from right to left and just kind of got
enveloped by a wave of block down near the one
yard line. They'll say about the one and a half
third and goal coming up.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
Good job by Norfew. Boy, if you.

Speaker 1 (57:06):
Could at least give up three instead of seven, how
big that would be.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
And there is.

Speaker 1 (57:15):
Either a defensive lineman or a linebacker down near the
ball or is that DeAndre Johnson?

Speaker 2 (57:23):
No, I get the number. It could only be one
of two, but I'm gonna wait and make sure I
get the right one. We'll keep it right here.

Speaker 1 (57:31):
Remind you this third quarter being brought to you by
Kids Food Basket.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
Who do we got there?

Speaker 1 (57:39):
Buck number thirty four Norfew, that's Greg Brawn and now
he's jogging off good news. Just maybe got a little
stinger the bottom of the pile there. So the defense
will come back out, third and goal will go it
the two yard line for Catholic Central twenty one seven
Cougars play for the outright okay Black Division crowd with

(58:02):
a win here tonight.

Speaker 3 (58:03):
East Grand Rapids a game back and they're playing outaway Hills.

Speaker 1 (58:06):
Third and goal fake to Hill or Spencer left side,
not gonna get there. Good Job up ended him. Good
penetration that time by the Northview defense. He's got a
little bit lower pad level than an offensive line.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
For the Cougars.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
I think Bo Pierce ended up getting the tackle, but
there was good penetration, as you said, by the offensive line.
And now they're gonna bring in Pratt, who's their nose guard,
and they're gonna put him.

Speaker 3 (58:28):
They went from heavy to heavyer. Yeah, on the set.
I mean it's fourth and goal from the one. Here
we go. I'm gonna keep the offense out there, of course, Yeah,
you go for it here up two scorers got it
out of momentum for sure.

Speaker 1 (58:38):
Killered up tight behind Spencer. That's gonna be a tush push.
I don't think he got it. No indication yet, extra
effort and no they're gonna say they stopped him. Todd
Colster wanted a touchdown. He's not happy, but I don't
think he got it.

Speaker 3 (58:55):
Well, I mean, there's two guys standing on the goal line.
They came in from the side. I mean there's a job,
but there's I can't tell you where the football is.
I don't think they could either.

Speaker 2 (59:03):
I mean, the one thing is it was pretty clear
that he wasn't in the end zone, right, I mean,
you can't guess there.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
At least initially was he was trying to get a
push from Hillard. Good job of the Northfiew defense.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
How much is that buck?

Speaker 2 (59:16):
Yeah, I mean that's just that's a huge stop. But
now the I mean, if you could be there's no
farther they could be for the goal line right right now,
So you've got to be careful back there in the
end zone.

Speaker 3 (59:29):
If you're Brayln Jefferson.

Speaker 1 (59:30):
They stayed in the short shotgun er pistol formation. One
back in the backfield, can't they on a quick strike A. J.
Johnson spins away but tackle working against Ted and nice job.

Speaker 3 (59:39):
Picked up another ten yards.

Speaker 1 (59:40):
Made the catch on the curl round at the ten,
then spun away from Grayson Tidd, the talented sophomore defensive back,
and was out across the twenty. They give him to
the twenty three yard line there, nice job gain of
twenty two first and ten.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
Well Tid gets to the inside, tries to tackle and
jump the route at the same time, and great move
there by the veteran receiver that's Johnson.

Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
He spins back to the outside.

Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
Yep, knowing that Tid had committed to the inside of
the field and picks up another full ten twelve yards.

Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Number Two's been kind of quiet to night with their
leading receiver coming in. Here's Kant the home run here
to number one, But do any white jerseys around him?
Offensive line got no push there. He's driven back and
guess who you just mentioned his number was in there
leading the way. That's a mere prat the nose guard.
He just stuffs everything up. But getting back to Johnson
nineteen catches four undred and forty five yards, six touchdowns

(01:00:33):
coming in, and they tried to go to him there
when they threw that pick and threw it short on
the opening play of the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Well, he was open, he was behind the defender.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
It was gonna be a tough throw because he Jefferson
was gonna have to drop it a little bit of
a short window, but he just under threw it there.
But now big momentum after that goal line.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
Stand second to ten, they want to go wide with
can't trying to get the edge.

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
Us turns the corner. He's across the.

Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Thirty and fights for extra yardage, then driven out of
bounds at about the thirty one yard line close to
that first down mark will be a couple yards short,
but on second and ten gets eight as we roll
under seven minutes left to go third quarter, twenty one
to seven.

Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
Grant up.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
It's Catholic Central over Northview Wildcats just got a goal
line stand after an opening pick on their offensive possession
to start the second half. And how big would this
be if they could somehow drive down and get some
points here. They've got a wayte to go and they
need a third down conversion here. They spotted it back
more towards the thirty, so it's almost thirty three handoff.

(01:01:33):
Can't look out trying to get wide nothing doing great
job defensively. Catholic Central was that Sweeny It was the
senior linebacker.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
Committed it for due.

Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Yeah, And I think that one there they were trying
to again catch Catholic Central napping a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
They tried to run weak side and Sweeney.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
And crew just swallowed that one up and had no
chance to get even to the edge as he's wrestled
down US two yards.

Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
So fourth and five and Ryan O's not gonna have
to send out The punt team started corner being brought
to you by Kids Food Basket, our official nonprofit for
the LMCU High schol football Game of the Week the
entire regular season, where in Week eight, every touchdown scored
during our games the week, LMCU would generously donate fifty
dollars to Kids Food Basket. That's the Lake Shore game
as well. As they snap and kick it away high

(01:02:23):
end over end kick and it hits overer that hit
somebody at the forty five, I think so norf you're
saying that's a live football.

Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
That was close buck Gino. I could not tell, boy,
because the.

Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
Way that it kind of took a hard hit that time,
almost like it went off of someone's foot.

Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
It was very close guard line.

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
But I will tell you that's nobody on Northew's sideline
is saying a word, so they clearly do not believe
that they.

Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Were wrong there.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
But boy, it was super close to hitting one of
those blockers that were just kind of wandering around. Yeah,
they were cookars in the area. Yeah, they just they
dodge a bullet there. And it's Catholic Central because had
that now they couldn't have advanced. It would have been
where where they recovered the fumble. But boy, They would
have been a huge swing if it had hit somebody
on Catholic Central.

Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
Now here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Roman Kaufin didn't necessarily boot a big kick as far as.

Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
Distance, but boy did he get a roll.

Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
I mean that one hit it what like about the
forty five and it's down inside the nineteen where they
downed it first, down in ten Cougar is back of
the attack.

Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
Spencer swing and was it a tip ball or not?
It looked like there was some deflection there.

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Hillard wisely got on it because you're right, I mean,
that was questionable whether it was thrown backwards or not,
which would make it a live football. They're gonna lose
big yardage year because Hillard just had to screw out
of bounds back inside the fifteen to the thirteen yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
They lost six yards there. I don't know if it
was tipped.

Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
I know that Spencer had to navigate around one of
the big paws from one of the wildcat and defenders.

Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
Yea, they were coming hard on the edge.

Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
I believe it was number sixty seven Jesse Salvator that
was in there, got his big mid out there altered
the pass.

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Second and sixteen. Now from the left hast rolling to
the right. Spencer sets across the oh almost intercepted. He
threw into traffic, and there was a linebacker reading his
eyes the whole way as he tried to force that
one in. It wasn't there to shop. He's lucky he
didn't get that one picked. He complete third and sixteen
coming up for grand appis.

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
Catholic cardinal sins of quarterbacks throwing it late and then
doing so across the middle, and then not looking where
you're throwing and doing all both.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Of those things. And that's what happened there.

Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
With Spencer is he they had a little bit of
a rollout and then he thought he was gonna get
somebody free release on the back side, but defense had
smelled that one out. And boy, again, just very lucky
to dodge a bullet there.

Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
I think Grayson Corland was the linebacker that was closed
to picking that off. Spencer, now under duress, tries to
dump off a screen. Good job by nor if you're
reading it. He gets back to the original line scripage.
Think it's a push from the line across the twenty,
but gonna be well short of the first down at
the twenty two yard line. Hillard on the reception that time,
Spencer had heavy pressure coming.

Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
So fourth down and eight here.

Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
Now, remember Spencer is the punter. They'll stay out there
with the offense. But he goes a little deeper, drop
takes his snap, quick kicks it away, low line, driving
kick and back to the field on the flys to
forty three. Look out Guesner and oh, that's gotta be
a late.

Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
In now he was pushed in and I think is
what happened there.

Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
Gesner though, doing another great job on special teams. The
punt return and he's a little hobby. He took a
shot as he went down, keating it up and running
the sideline. But nice job of fielding it again on
the flyt has saved the yardage you lose a lot
of times, especially in the artificial surface when it hits
and he takes it back into Cougar's territory. Set up
his northview offense to start this drive first and ten

(01:05:51):
from the Cougars forty six.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
I mean we just saw that in the last punt
where it went right up the silo, hitting around in
the midfield and hun by the.

Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
Yards on the roll.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Oh, I mean, that's that's what's gonna happen. So that's
why I like Gester coming up, as you said, to
field the ball, get.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
What you can van Prey and they sent a motion
left to right. There run the opposite side of wafmanm
Jalen Gant on the carry inside the forty five for
a couple to the forty four second and eight. Good
job by the Cougar's defense. That was Armac, by the
way on the stop.

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Oh, we've had kind of a stalemate here after the
first half. Right, I'm scoring. But now in north and
that's kind of the theme that we saw last week.
Both teams explode offensively in the second half. Kind of
a dogfight. Well Northview they didn't get the memo about
the first half explosion, but they had too many t
I mean this, they've had three turnovers. They should have
more points on the board. But now having to fight

(01:06:43):
against the second half adjustments.

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
Now having to kick it outside of mere Pratt, great
penetration and nothing doing. He's gonna lose yatag reach job
at that Cougar's defense. Sideline to sideline back across the
Cougars forty five. So Thorndon and long nine coming up
for Jefferson and company wide receivers look a little frustrated.
They want the football if they can get it. Aj
Johnson and also Logan Tyson.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Well, they've tried to get Gant loose here in the
second half, but the Catholic central up front has just
been dominant in this frame and Gant has really had
no room to run.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
But you're right, some frustration there is.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
They feel like they've made some pretty good games through
the air and they wanted again.

Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
Jefferson now has got ruined to Ron tucks at across
the forty dives forward to the thirty nine yard line.
He's gonna be short decision time for Ryan Osnock. But
I like the decision. He didn't hesitate, he went back.
The rush was coming heavy on the outside, nothing in
front of him, stepped up and got some positive Yarny.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Well, I think this was two down territory and if
you're Jefferson, there and take what you can get, because
if you get sacked, you're punting the football right. If
you don't now, you're probably gonna go for it on
fourth down. And that's exactly what it looks like they're
gonna do.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
Two twenty three and ticket left to go to third
still at twenty one seven, that's where we're at the break.
Nor if you now trying to take advantage of good
field position after their defense's gotta stop. Jalen Gant to
the right of Brayln Jefferson, the junior starting quarterback for
the Wildcats, extra back in the backfield play fake Paul
deflected as he tried to go with a quick hitter,
and guess who mister Sweeney knocks it down with a

(01:08:14):
big pawn number six for that Catholic central defense. He
is a phenomenal player. It seems like he's been there
forever in Brayden Sweeney.

Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Well, it's a good play there, but even better read
by Sweeney.

Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
He was not fooled by the play action.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
He thought, and rightly so, that Northview was going to
try one of those quick outs from the play action game,
and that's what he did, looking for Van Preyen, which
not a bad idea. On four down and three, that's
who I would probably throw it too as well if
I were Brayln Jefferson and they try to get him open,
but Sweeney just jumps up and knocks it down.

Speaker 3 (01:08:47):
Oden Spencer and the cougar is back to work.

Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Hand off Hillard left, heads turns it up across the
forty five pushing the pile. Here comes that big old
lone and he's close to the first down.

Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Marker out to the forty.

Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
He's gonna be about a yard short gain of nine
on first and ten. They'll take that as we roll
under two minutes left to go third quarter. We mentioned
the money being raised for touchdowns for kids. It's to
benefit Kids Food Basket. You can also volunteer and find
out more Kids food Basket dot org. The goal with
Kids Food Basket neuris local kids to reach their full potential.

(01:09:19):
Repikita buck Gino live from Wildcat Stadium, twenty one seven.
Gran Eppen's Catholic Central in front on the road here
under a minute thirty to go in the third two
wide receivers right, one to the left on a delayed
handoff Hillard and good job of the Northview defense boy
and that where they just kind of sit there for
a second that Reid option norfew has had enough time
to come off their blocks and just kind of waiting

(01:09:40):
for Hiler there. He did get give him credit. The
senior running back forward progress to the fifty. He needed
just one to pick up the first down. But that
play hasn't been as effective as when they've gone.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
To the edge.

Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
Yeah, mesh, there has just been tough because Dorothew does
a great job, as you mentioned, getting off the blocks,
but the read for Spencer is there when he's got
the ball. The read is handoff off because they haven't
really gotten off the blocks yet and it's like they
almost time it just perfectly. As soon as the running
back takes the ball, all sudden there's the guy's standing
arount and nobody's blocking them. And it's been tough sweating

(01:10:13):
on that play for Catholic central.

Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
Armock in motion from right to left, handoff Hillard kind
of fouling his block across right over the center. That's
big Freeman and inside the wildcat territory that forty six.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
That might be but you know, the final play of.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
The third quarter, well a tough one for both teams offensively,
defensive stands on both sides. Turnover by North here on
the first play from the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
You think, oh boy, this is could be bad.

Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
But they held their ground but unfortunately they didn't all
they didn't gain any So now you're coming to the
fourth quarter. You got to make up two scores and
the other team's got the ball, So still a lot
of work for the Wildcats as they head into the
fourth frame.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
A scoreless third quarter by both teams.

Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
After like Buck mentioned, an I int for Catholic Central,
but a goal line stand for Northview. So after three
quarters of play here it's Grand Rapids Catholic Central twenty one,
Northfiew seven back with a fourth and final after this,
as you're listening to a Week eight edition of the
LMCU High School.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Football Game of the Week.

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Here on ninety six to one the game, all teams
have switched ends and sides the field. Here we go
to start the fourth on second and six handoff, Hillard
spins away for tackle.

Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Look on he's breaking free inside the thirty twenty five
to twenty. They've got the ankled on they know ten
five touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Comal Hillard want to win to start the fourth quarter,
ran to the right, spun away from the tackle, and
then he was off to the races and the Cougars
extend their lead to twenty seven to seven.

Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
Well, that was the one that Northew could ill afford.
It was that third touchdown. Then boy Hillard with a
fantastic effort, looked like he was bottled up right inside,
but just kept fighting and was able.

Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
To break free.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
And then once he got outside contained turned down the speed.
He don't really think about it just because he runs
between the tackles so much, but he does have very
good foot speed.

Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
Zany to trying to stay perfect other night, Edie does so.
With eleven forty eight left to go on this one
a big one for Grand Rapids, Cathic et cetera. To
open up some breathing room. They late at twenty eight
to seven over Northfield. We'll come back with more a
wildcat stadium after this. On ninety six to one the game.

(01:12:35):
This time Northew adjusted on the kick return as you mentioned,
buck Gino and Zanya kicking it deeper, take it on
the fly to go back to get it by Christian Jensen.
Starts left across the fifteen. Lookout, oh, big hit there
and he's dropped at the twenty yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Good jomped by.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
The Cougars kickoff team and with that last touchdown Kamal
Hillard his second rushing touchdown the night. Seang's stacking the
extra point now a three score game, twenty eight to
seven in favor of the Cougars.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Yeah, no, North, who's been trying to get Ganton going,
but down three scores now, I feel like I'm not
saying you're never going to run the football, but it's
gonna have to be Bramlin. Jefferson certainly throwing the football
a lot more if they're gonna get back into this game.

Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
First down and ten eleven forty left to go in regulation,
Jefferson wants to air it out.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Single coverage.

Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
AJ Johnson over there incomplete nice job and knocking it
away and he was on the read the entire way,
and that was Keith Janderanoah. I know coach Kolster loves
that kid talking about him. And that time isolated and
single coverage comes up with the play. We're into the
fourth quarter, by the way, which means it's Wing Doozy
Fan of the Game time. If your caller eight right

(01:13:44):
now to Joe Ertar Studios at six point six four five,
four thirty seven seventy six, you're gonna get a twenty
five dollars gift card to Wing Doozy could use it
either one of their.

Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
Two locations in West Michigan.

Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Great Wings, the best in the Midwest to enjoy for
a tailgate, whatever the case might be. That's caller eight
eight six, one six, four, five, four three seven seven six.

Speaker 3 (01:14:04):
Call right now and you could be a winner. Well
announce it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Coming up in our postgame show four week eight, this
time rolling out to his right, Jefferson little safety valve
out there at the twenty five and it's complete to
his intended receiver. That's Logan Tyson, the senior wide out.
They'll give him a game buck of six, third and four.

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Coming up with the Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Jefferson, when he's been content to take what they have
given him, has been pretty solid. When they have kind
of gone away from that and he tried to get
the ball down field, he's had significantly more trouble and
you can see why just Kathy Xanders throwing a lot
of looks at him that have so far confused him
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
Aj Johnson.

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
They motion m right to left now, Jefferson gonna tuck
and run hang out of that football they were trying
to strip, and almost did as he gets the first
out across the thirty five. Good scramble out to the
thirty seven yard line, pick up of eleven and move
the chains first in ten Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
While he was carrying it out there like aver five,
I mean and again, and I understand he's in the
middle of the field. But that's where the inexperience comes
in versus a kid like Odin Spencer, who only he
is as softcore, but he's had that foot yer in
varsity experience in Branln Jefferson before the transfer had not
had that happen still on the JV at Hudsonville when

(01:15:18):
he transferred.

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
Here, Zach Johnson of the ballgame, wide receivers split wide left,
they'll go slot that way. Wander receiver motion to the right,
cheption of the right hash flushed out of the pocket.

Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
Here comes the pressure.

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Now why is he going to tuck it and run
and step out of bounds before he takes the hit?
Crosses the forty four to the forty five yard line,
be about two yards.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
Short, gain of eight.

Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
That's okay, stops the clocking out of bounds, second and
two Wildcats ten eleven left to go here. In regulation
twenty eight to seven, Grand Rafforts Catholic Central over North View.
Cougar's trying to remain perfect at eight too on the season.
They'll wrap up next week against the Sailors of South
Christian non conference rivalry, but with a win here tonight
would wrap up the Oak Black Division crown. Meanwhile, Norfiew

(01:16:02):
coming in at five and two two and two in
conference play, trips left fake to Gant. Oh there it
is quick strike and Jefferson on the money that time,
but unable to.

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Bounce to the outside.

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
He was kind of hemmed in by a couple of
Cougar defenders that time. Was Logan Tyson. Good catch though,
and there you see the talent of Jefferson. I mean
that was zipped right there on the numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
Yeah, if you're Tyson, you probably just want to cut
that up field. He tried to make something there, and
I get it. But at some point you just got
to go north and south and ran a long way
to lose a couple of yards. And it's a pretty
well thrown ball. You can just turn that up and
just try to get what you can up the middle.
But nonetheless a first down and north you now is
starting to get down the field a little bit here to.

Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
The Catholic Central forty four yard line. Remember this defense
only gives up six and a half points per game.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
They're kind of right out of the number.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
At seven, first down to ten, Jefferson under duress, steps
through the traffic.

Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
Now gonna run four to cross the thorny. A nice
job growing up before.

Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Yes, the junior quarterback Brayln Jefferson scrambles inside the thirty
down to the Cougars twenty five. No one has accounted
for him. They don't have a spy for him, and
so he's kind of opened that time. But a good read.
You can't hesitate it. I tell you what if he
stays in on another second, it's just going to collapse
around him.

Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
As far as the pocket, Well, what you've got to
do if you're the quarterback is you got to recognize
Number one. Do they have somebody over top? No they don't, Okay,
Number two? If I stay here, what's the benefit?

Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
What if there's somebody downfield that's open? And he's got
to make those decisions very quickly, and so far he's
done a pretty good job.

Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
Look Out knocked away. Todd Colster wanted the fumble.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
But they'll say incomplete he never really turned around.

Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
No, they got it to Van Preyen. But a good
stick that time. Are they going to mark him down?

Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
I think that was armac? I think it's incomplete, isn't it.
Well he second down? Okay, yeah they are, Yeah, well
otherwise it would have been yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Well he was walking like they had marked it at
the spot, which I was like, that can't be right.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
It's always dangerous when you're crossing route and you're looking
back for the football you don't see the defensive back
that's coming.

Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
That was a big is well.

Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
We saw that with Van Proyen going across the middle
on that play that he ended up fumbling. He just
never saw the defender until it was too late. Trips
left to the wide side of the field.

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
They worked from the right half second and ten after
the incompletion, Braylen Jefferson will send the man in motion.
That's Tyson now tries to dump a screen of Vaner
but oh man, what a hit that time. Sweeney just
cleaned him up. That's two big bodies going out it.
But number six definitely won that one in Braden's Sweeney.

(01:18:39):
That's what Purdue liked on film when they saw him
and said, yeah, come and play for us next year,
young man. Kate have just won third and nine coming
up for Northfield, well.

Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
They tried to go middle screen there, but unfortunately for Northview,
Sweeney just reads that play very well, gets the pressure,
but then just stays back far enough where he can
reach Van prey And from behind and was able to
make the tackle because if he doesn't, if he goes
right up towards the quarterback, Van Preyen may still be running.

Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
Two wide receivers left, one of the right for Jefferson handoff. No,
it fakes it can't nice job on the play action,
dumps it out to Van Proy and tries to stiff
arm his defender at the twenty. They'll give him the
nineteen run out of bounds there on the tackle for
Catholic Central that time was Brody Warner, the senior linebacker.
It's going to force a fourth down, they're gonna say
outright at the twenty for Van Freyen, so in the

(01:19:30):
red zone. But fourth and five here.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Well, of course they're going to go for it down
three scores, and coach Ashnek knows well with eight sixteen
to go down three scores, if we don't get this
one here, guys, I mean it's not over, but it's
gonna be pretty close.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
I'm gonna keep it right here.

Speaker 1 (01:19:46):

We have our Wing Doozy fan of the game. Caller
eight was Ryan pope Peel of Grand Rapids. Thanks for listening, Ryan,

(01:20:09):
and thanks for having who tried.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
To call in to Joe Errens.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Remember if you win once during the season for football
or basketball, they are at eligible. But Ryan pop Peel
scoring a twenty five dollars gift card tonight joys some
wings on us, Ryan, in this great football weekend. Coming
up Calvin University at home tomorrow playing on campus. What
a great story that has been four and one. They'll
take on Adrian College, who right next to Hope and

(01:20:35):
Elma in those standings in the MIAA. You know that
going to Elma College, the Bulldog's going to be tough
twelve forty five with the pre game one o'clock kickoff.
Bob Sack on the call right here on ninety six
won the game fourth and five after the time out, Jefferson,
under pressure, rolls to his right looking pump fake defenders
all around me. He's not going to get there. Stacked

(01:20:55):
up great pressure that time. And guess who coming on
the backside finally getting home Malachai Young, the sophomore defensive
end turnover on downs and Catholic Central now can try
to ice this one away eight o nine remain into
the fourth up twenty eight to seven.

Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
Yeah, I think if you're gonna get a steady diet,
they're gonna call it the Hillard and Brown diet. And
if you don't like it, too bad, because that's what
you're going to get if you're Northview to take this
final eight minutes and change off of the clock, even
if they don't score. Brett, Really, Catholic Central's goal at
this point is just to take as much time and

(01:21:31):
get as much yardage as possible.

Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
That's gonna involve a lot of heavy run game.

Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
Yeah, you're also gonna see Odin Spencer under center a
lot exa snaphandoff right side.

Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
That's Moses Brown, Brown right side.

Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Popping it through across the thirty thirty five forty and
drag down from behind. I've been impressed with zero as
well as Kamal Hillard, who has two rushing touchdowns and
he's into wildcat torritory. Big run there to the forty
eight yard line. Wow, give him thirty yards on the
carrie number zero. Moses Brown for the Cougars.

Speaker 3 (01:22:04):
Well, that's a roaring start to the drive. You didn't
think that was gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
But Brown again showing not only shifty in traffic, but
then turns on the speed. Northew finally tracks him down,
but not on. They cross midfield now and it's starting
to become academic.

Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
They got Sweeney in there as an extra fullback slash
h back to blockdown.

Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
It feels, I mean, I want to say overkill.

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
But if you're northe's like, come on, it's already you're
doing fine without this guy.

Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
They go swingy with the lead Moses Brown left side
inside the forty five. Gonna be stacked up there at
the forty four, but it'll get three. They gave him
to the forty seven on that last run, So second
and three want to rewind new West Michigan high school

one oh seven, mus dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
Or even Woodradio dot com. Second and seven.

Speaker 1 (01:23:06):
Now they look over Todd Colster going to signal in
and change the place. Spencer under center job, the sophomore
quarterback has done tonight kind of an offset. I handoff
Moses Brown right side. And this is just like you said,
smash Mouth football to wind the clockdown? Is Catholic Central
trying to ic this one away to improve to eight
no w And I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
Nine to one the regular season, that's a lot of
home games come in your way.

Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
And from what I've seen tonight, partner, I think the
rest of Division five in the state of Michigan is unnoticed.
The Cougars are back and right number one in of
the state for a reason this week.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Yeah, and just why I mentioned that we will have
plenty of scores coming up here in the scoreboard show tonight.
Lots of good division finales except for the OK RED
SO Championships being decided or at least being given clarity tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
Spencer hands off to Brown on third and short. Northfew
Defense stacks him up for maybe a half yard. That's
about it at the thirty nine so fourth and two
coming up. We'll have our Discount Door post game show
here on site before we get to the Myer Scoreboard
show with Rick Burgen all of our live game reporters.

handoff Brown. It's been all round and he's not going
to get there. Great job of the Northview Defense kids

(01:24:43):
playing tough, not quitting it on the stop that time
was one of their inside backers. We've talked about them tonight,
and that was Grayson Corland, the junior linebacker, the mic
linebacker getting to stop. So Norfield returns the favorite turnover
on downs, they get it back first in ten from
their own thirty nine yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
And that's I mean, if you're Todd Colester, you just
don't want to introduce a lot of risk.

Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
People.

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
Well, they ran the ball, Okay, you're up three scores.
If you throw one and then gets picked off. I mean,
I know the probability is low, but number one, you've
got to have confidence in your offensive line in you're
running backs. But number two, you're at the point now
where you're just like I said, trying to get as
much clock off the timer as possible, and you just
don't want to introduce it unnecessary risk and putting the

(01:25:27):
ball in the air at this point really doesn't help you.

Speaker 1 (01:25:29):
How about the handoff to Gant, they throw it back
little trick Ray Jefferson can.

Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
Throw it up and picked off Jander and do again
up the near sideline.

Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
It's got some blockers and knocked at the bounds in
wildcat territory.

Speaker 3 (01:25:43):
So the handoff to Gant, the throwback to Jefferson throwing
it down the field and right.

Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
There John in the spot was number twenty three again
Keith Janderdoah, the senior defensive back.

Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
Is that the third interception tonight for Catholic Central.

Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
It is their fourth turnover as well well, And that's
when I've talked about it a lot ad nauseum overkill.

Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
You see the difference, even though Jefferson the elder of
the two, as far as class, the maturation and the
decision making of Oden Spencer versus Braylen Jefferson. I mean
that's a flea flicker. Yep, it's not there. There's just
nothing there. You got to run the ball or try
to do something. And not only does he not run,
but he throws it into double coverage. And that's what

(01:26:27):
happens is Jane er Nooah picks it off.

Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
Now Spencer out of the pistol formation, still Moses, proud
of their right side getting him some work good. Pushed
by the offensive line, he had three yards before he
even got touched to the thirty yard line gate a
little more than three second and a short seven. Well
next week to finish the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:26:47):
Buck.

Speaker 1 (01:26:48):
You know, we head over to Falcon Country, So Catholic
Central ninth obviously their rival West Catholic hoasting Zealand West
in a non conference game. Going into play tonight, Zealand
West five or two overall out of the OK Gold
West Catholics six and one already share of the OKA
White Division. Crown tried to close that out tonight and
this was a good ballgain. They met a year Agua,
I love this matchup. Thirty four to twenty. Zealand West

(01:27:09):
won that one. Of course they went on to win
the Division three state championship. But two good teams again,
we'll see next week.

Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
Last year they had to play it on a Thursday,
right because of the scheduling conflict. This year, no such thing,
and now they'll get to go to Falcon Country on
Friday and have another good tune up for the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:27:26):
Odin Spencer just running right side, kind of extending the play,
then tucks it up at the thirty down to about
the twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
Number two has played well tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:27:37):
Battle a little bit of a hip injury in the
middle part of the season, but he looks stronger, certainly
can throw the football. They've got two good running backs,
if not more than they throw on those heavy packages
with guys like a Mere Pratt and how about Sweeney Well.

Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
Coach Colster when he's at his best, has endless weapons
and options. And if I feels like this Catholic Central team,
especially now with there's some maturation, Yeah, in the quarterback position,
you can.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
See the size.

Speaker 2 (01:28:07):
I mean just there's so many things that this offense
can do, it has the tools to do, and it
makes it very difficult to prep. And we're gonna have
a time out here is they're just gonna let the
clock run down and talk about this third downplay.

Speaker 1 (01:28:20):
Yeah, third and five we'll step aside as well. Three
twelve left to go on this what it's grown up.
It's Catholic Central twenty eight north of you. Seven back
with more after this timeout. So on third and five,
the handoff ghost to number zero Moses Brown. He's gotten
a heavy dose, as Buck Gino told you, and he
doesn't get it. So fourth and five coming up, Brett Pikita.

(01:28:41):
But you know back you're a wildcat stadium. John Iukar,
Executive producer. Great job tonight with the broadcast, Johnny Joe
Aaron Colbania the score Center. We've got plenty more scores
coming to your way with the Myer Scoreboard showing the
one and only Hall of Famer after he got inducted
on Tuesday night at Vandal Arena.

Speaker 3 (01:28:58):
I was there. Great to see the grown up at
Sports Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
But he'll take us home to night our in studio
host Rick Burkey forty four plus years well deserved going
to the Grandpitt Sports Hall of Fame. Is the Warren
Reynolds Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
Well, we're gonna tease some scores.

Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
And as it comes up to the my Scoreboard show
Lowell and Sparta in a River City's Alliance Affair Loll
twenty one, Sparta fourteen. Wow that one again, No disrespect
to Sparta. No, people were not expecting that in the
third quarter. So good to see the Spartans have some
fight late in the year.

Speaker 1 (01:29:34):
So fourth and four Old and Spencer are gonna keep
it himself right side and he finds a crease, gets
a push and he's gonna have the first down inside
the twenty rambles down to about the seventeen yard line,
and now they could pretty much run out the clock
for Granaffin's Catholic Central got a fresh set of downs.

Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
That's what they needed.

Speaker 1 (01:29:51):
By the way, that scoreboard update that Buck gave you
brought to you by Rapid Radios, the only nationwide LT
walkie talkies with no monthly fee. Ever, great for family, hunting, camping,
emergency you said more. Find out more at rapid radios
dot com. You know you heard a slice of it,
but we went about twelve to fifteen minutes with Charlie
Gunsel and he was named the Detroit Lions High School

(01:30:11):
football Coach of the Week for Week seven from Lunnington.
Keep an eye on the Oriols in Division four. They're
ranked in the States seven to zero. They might run
into big rapids, Big rapids as lose Ny Coopersville. Right now,
they weren't beating going to that game.

Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
How about the Broncosta. Let Bo bring us home. I know, Hobson,
but how about that.

Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
We're keeping it on a handoff Moses Brown left side
on first and ten from the seventeen of Northview.

Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
He takes it and Northew's going to keep Now they
have to try to take time outs to conserve time.
If they can get the ball back on one more shot.
But some other scores from around the area is Rick
Burkey in his.

Speaker 3 (01:30:49):
Cast of dozens.

Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
We'll bring that to you on the Meyer scoreboard shows
Forestville Central Zealand Ees tied at fourteen in the fourth quarters.
Zeal And East needed that one if they wanted to
get in the playoffs. They got to win one of
the last two. Well, you're tied, that's not winning, So
you gotta if you're the chicks, you got to get ahead.
And credit to Joe Woodruff started out hot three and oh,
but then they just had a lot of injuries and

(01:31:12):
those kind of stacked up. But they've kind of righted
the ship a little bit and that tough, tough okay
gold trying to get that one went that win under
their belt. And then West Catholic beating Forest Hill's Eastern
thirty one to twenty one.

Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
Right now, so prove it to seven and one. If
they can hang out and they.

Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
Can hang on there, give us seven and one against
Zealand West, who also probably seven to one at that time.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
By the way, Luddington at Orchard Feed and I trying
to wrap up the West Michigan Conference.

Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
Lake's Division.

Speaker 1 (01:31:39):
Oden Spencer playfake just running around the right end and
lost the football, but on the far sideline goes out
of bounds. He's got the first down as he rambled
inside the ten down inside the seven yard line and
they'll mark about it just outside the five first and
goal Catholic Central there as we will under two minutes

(01:32:00):
left to go, twenty eight to seven Cougars over Northew here.

Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
On the road. Impressed for Granpitz.

Speaker 1 (01:32:06):
Catholic Central trying to improve to eight in Zher and
be the outright okay Black Division champs here in twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
Looking ahead to next week, should be a good games
Eland West and West Catholic. Like I said, a pretty
good playoff tuned up and both teams.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
Moses Brown excuse me, Buck Chino pushing the pile. He
wants that touchdown. He got it, Moses Brown from five
yards out Paydard for the Cougars and that makes it
thirty four to seven here with under two minutes to play.

Speaker 3 (01:32:37):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
That fourth down play by Oudin Spencer where he gets
eleven and he only needed four, Kaz really sums up
the night for the North of You defense played well,
had some pretty tough stands, especially the goal line stand
after the first play interception in the second half. But
I mean, with four turnovers, just giving the ball to

(01:32:58):
this team that many extra times, I mean, you're just
not going to win many football games doing that. And
clearly tonight it's thirty five to seven, as Zanya adds
the extra point. But Brett, I think you would agree
that these teams probably aren't twenty eight points apart on
a level playing field. But all credit to Catholic Central

(01:33:18):
cashing in on four wildcat turnovers tonight, and that's been
clearly the difference.

Speaker 1 (01:33:24):
And that's the key because they came in averaging less
than thirty points offensively.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
You say, well, it's still pretty good.

Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
It is, but they relied a lot of their defense
in some tight games with these s Grand Rapids with
thorn Apple can't long even creating turnovers and touchdowns with
a defense that's giving up just six and a half
points per game. So they're right on the number. But
I'm impressed with Catholic Central. It's one thing to force turnovers,
it's another thing to cash in, and they've done that
consistently tonight against a high quality opponent. Buck and a

(01:33:51):
five and two Northfield club coming in. So to me,
if you're Todd Colester and his coaching staff, they got
to be very happy with what this team did here
at week eight tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
Corract and I think this is a big momentum boost
for them for the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
It's gonna get him a lot of points out the
bonus points with NORTHVIEWD being Division two, and they're gonna
go into next week against South Christian very confident.

Speaker 1 (01:34:14):
Sandya kicks it deep, having to go back to field
inside his own ten again, and now here comes Jensen
trying to turn the quarter breaks, the tackle comes back
up the middle and across a twenty late penalty flag
coming out to the twenty one yard law.

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
There might be a block in the back or a hold.
What's thirteen left to go here?

Speaker 1 (01:34:32):
Don't forget to stay with this discount door postgame show
coming up next, Well, there's plenty of time with that.
And now unsportsman like conduct against Grenapit's cathic central.

Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Wow, that'll tack on at the end of.

Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
The run, and I'm sure that'll draw the ire of
Coach Colster.

Speaker 1 (01:34:47):
We'll have our Montel Construction Defensive Player of the game
will announce on the discount door post game show coming up,
and but ginill have the honors for the uptown Chiepskate
Offensive Player of the Game.

Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
We're tabulating the votes now.

Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
Also our Garrett's Appliance Dependable Player of the Game. We've
got a lot of different nominees, especially with the all
around effort.

Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
I mean, so many people contributing.

Speaker 2 (01:35:08):
For gran It's like they're all just kind of in
the middle, right, not really one guy, like, okay, that's
that's clearly the person.

Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
There's just a lot. But that's you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
That's why I get the extra five bucks to pick
the award winners, to make those tough decisions.

Speaker 3 (01:35:21):
Wait, you get five bucks. I thought it was his food.
I thought it was a Burger.

Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
First out in ten, swing right side, Jefferson in there
still at quarterback, and a new wide receiver to throw too.

Speaker 3 (01:35:32):
That is Rafael or Tez, the senior number seven.

Speaker 1 (01:35:35):
Nice job after the catch, turned inside to make the
defender miss and he's out to the forty five yard line.
Good first down pickup of ten first and ten Wildcats. Well,
Braylen Jefferson will certainly grow up from this. I mean
Catholic Central defensively one of the best of the area.
We haven't seen these ground rapids yet, but I know
a lot of people rave about that. As that's Logan
Tyson on the catch, making a man miss. Spins to

(01:35:58):
the outside this time and into Cougar territory before he's
knocked out at the forty six yard line. Give him
eight second and two Fox stops because he stepped out
of bounce. But Catholic Central defensively right. They always say
defense wins championships, East Grand Rapids and Division three.

Speaker 2 (01:36:15):
I mean this division as a whole of the old
Gate Black pretty strong defensive group.

Speaker 1 (01:36:22):
Slot right one, our receiver left Jefferson takes a snap,
rolling to is right. He's got Artist again, spins out
of another tackle up the sideline. Tough kid number seven
and inside the thirties. Got another wildcat first down down
to the twenty five yard line. A couple of nice
catches Lad here, Rafael Ortiz good.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Get some guys in that maybe don't necessarily play a
lot in the games. Braylyn Jefferson still though, swinging it
around as QB one. Of course, Kathley Central's playing very soft,
but still good to see that the young kids getting
to play.

Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Jefferson gonna tuck it now inside the twenty, trying to
make a man miss cover up that football, and he
did so.

Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
He took the hit at.

Speaker 1 (01:37:00):
The ten yard line, driven out of bounds by Catholic
Central's John super said the sophomore fifteen seconds left to
go in regulation, year thirty five seven ground up. It's
Catholic Central going on the road here to Wildcat Stadium
to pick up the win. They'll finish off the OK
Black Division. Played five and zero, your conference champs, and

(01:37:21):
they'll have South Christian next week in a Week nine matchup,
going over the top, knocked away nice played defensively as
it was. Carter Bergen, another software you talked about their
sophomore class. They are loaded there, including obviously their starting
quarterback in his second year, started as a freshman, Oden Spencer.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
At that time, Jefferson going to Logan Tyson in the corner,
but Bergen all over him. And it was told to
me by many people at the freshman class last year.
So now this year's a sophomores right, very deep, and
it's not just football, I mean athletically as a whole,
very talented and we're starting to see the fruits of
those predictions come true.

Speaker 1 (01:38:00):
Second and goal for the ten they go acrossing route
in the middle. Complete, but it's going to run out
of real estate in time as the clock going to
tick away here and that will do it. AJ Johnson,
I believe getting that last catch for nor few. So
the Cougars of Catholic Central go on the road here tonight.
Impressive in this week eight Okay Black showdown as they

(01:38:23):
win it by a final over the Wildcats of northfiet
To night thirty five to seven. We'll come back to
Wildcats Stadium after the break, probably here from Rick Burkey,
maybe passing along couple scores. The Meyer Scoreboard Show is
coming up down the road. But coming up next it's
the Discount Door postgame show in this one. As you're
listening to a Week eight edition of the LMCU High
School Football Game of the Week live of this Friday

(01:38:44):
night here on ninety six to one, the game.

Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Back in the studio, Rick Brook, you're getting geared up
for the Meyer High School Scoreboard Show here in ninety
six to one the game. We heard the conclusion of
our ninety six to one game of the week. Catholic
Central wins the Oka Black beating North Through thirty five
five to seven. We've got some other conference champions crowned
already tonight. And in the River City's Alliance Kenawa Hills
clinch is the Okay or the River City's Alliance League

(01:39:10):
by beating Greenville forty two to nothing. And that one
was skeeking up big over Reez Puffer. They're going to
win the Okay green as well. Zealand West also a
big winning the goal sixty four to six over Wyoming,
and Unity Christian up big over South Christian. They are
going to go win the Okay goal with that, so
league champions being crowned. Oh, by the way, Luddington is

(01:39:32):
not officially clinched it, but they're way out ahead thirty
four to eight. And Scott de Campbell report of that
on the Meyer scoreboard show Leuddington about to go perfect
and clinch the West Michigan Lakes Division. So a lot
of conference champions crown guys. We're getting geared up here.
We're going to have reports tell you who won the
leagues and what the playoff situation is. With the reports
across West Michigan, Meyer Scoreboard show just around the bed

(01:39:53):
after you guys finish up the post game go ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
All right, thank you, Rick, appreciate that we're looking forward
to the Meyer Scoreboards show, and we are of early.
I mean it's only nine o'clock right now, so we've
got the discount door postgame show coming your way, and
then we'll get you all those scores who won conference championships,
who got a piece of them or not in buck
you know, put down the burger.

Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
I can't do a half hour post games show. We're
not doing. No. You and I gotta eat too.

Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
We're gonna beat head nowt to here shortly, but won
a ballgame and obviously impressive your Grandap's Catholic Central Cougars
fan tonight going on the road. Remember this is a
game that last year in a field goal fest Norfew
one at Cougar Stadium twelve to three. They went on
to a perfect nine and zer regular season, then lost
to Byron Center week one in the Division two playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:40:34):
We know what happened there. The Bulldogs go on to
Ford Field.

Speaker 1 (01:40:37):
So not a bad loss for Ryan Asnock and nor Few,
even though I'm sure it was stinging.

Speaker 3 (01:40:41):
At the time.

Speaker 1 (01:40:42):
Grandpa's Catholic Central is set up the same way. Now
they will have South Christian ahead of them, which is
a big rivory game. Non conference, they win the okay
Black Division crown just like northfif did a year ago.

Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
They could pull off.

Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
A nine to zero and then you know who's looming
there obviously in Division five, probably in the district final
down the road, and that's of course West Catholic who
did win tonight and they're sitting there with just one
loss on the season. We'll have them next Friday night
in a non conference game. Was in the West.

Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
Yeah, and you mentioned last year with North View they
kind of popped onto the scene and beating Catholic Central
was kind of everybody's eye opener, right. I Mean they
had a couple of decent wins before, but you know,
people think, okay, how good are they really? Well they
be and again Catholic Central was young last year, but
to do that to them at home, you know, not
only to hold them without a touchdown, but win a

(01:41:28):
defensive battle.

Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
Not many teams were able to do that, regardless of
the talent.

Speaker 2 (01:41:32):
Level with Catholic Central, and that kind of opened up
everybody's eyes.

Speaker 3 (01:41:35):
And this year a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
You know, they lost a lot of good players last year, Wilsonior,
the running back, and some key players in defense, but
they're still a good team. I just think now you see,
got some younger players now coming up Braalen Jefferson, a
junior transfer quarterback that did not play any varsity football
before this year, and some other younger guys that kach
Osh is trying to shepherd along. And Catholic Center, we

(01:42:00):
didn't really know still what they had. We knew they
would probably improve upon their record from last year, which
was at the five and four mark in the regular season,
but we didn't really expect him to be this far ahead.
I mean, a very good young team with still a
lot of room to grow. I mean, if you're looking
at this, they've got freshman and sophomores playing significant time.

Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
They do have other guys that are going to be graduating,
and you mentioned Sweeney going to produce. I mean, they're
gonna lose some guys, but a good base of young
players getting varsity experience.

Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
I think this is Catholic Central, especially this version of
Catholic Central, is going to be very good for quite
some time. So if you're in the ok black Well.
Get ready for a long string of good play by
Catholic Central Well.

Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
And they're led by that defense that has eight senior
starters the three other sophomores that are very talented. So
there's your leadership. And they showed up tonight like they
have every game so far. And why the rate no
give it up to set? Seven points six and a
half is what the average coming in and obviously forcing turnovers,
buck Gino. And as we get into the MKD Funeral
Home final scoring summer, you'll take us through that. But

(01:43:09):
it was really set up early with those Catholic Central
turnovers against Northview short fields whatever it might be. And
that's the key to having really a championship defense like
the Cougars have.

Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
Catholic Central starts at scoring off on their first drive
and the opening kickoff Kamal Hillard at one yard touchdown
run after a six play fifty six yard drive zany
of the pat seven to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
North You had a pretty good first drive.

Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
They get down inside the red zone, but an interception
that was tipped up Baylen Jefferson throws his first one
of the game. There were more to come, Unfortunately, for
your Wildcat fan. And then Kathic Central takes over, had
a good return on the interception, got good field position
and they turned it into a touchdown by Moses Brown.
Fourteen to nothing after one quarter of play. And then

(01:43:54):
Northview goes three and out and Catholic Central has third
down and Northe's thinking, okay, we can get a stop here.
They'd missed on first a third down to the first drive.
They're like, okay, we can just get a stop. Well,
they did the opposite of that Odin Spencer to Armack
from fifty nine yards out, and that made the score
twenty one to nothing and they were off and running.

(01:44:17):
Northew showed a little bit of a fight as Jalen
Gant goes in from twelve yards I would after a
big punt return by Gossner. And it was really a
nice swing for them because that was the best field
position they had all game. If they don't get a
good punt return, do they score?

Speaker 3 (01:44:33):
Maybe? Maybe not.

Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
They struggled after that first drive to make really good progress,
have long drives. Jalen Gant steps into the end zone
from twelve yards out, twenty one to seven at the half,
no scoring in the third quarter, we saw kind of
a defensive struggle aided by a turnover by north View
as they threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage.

(01:44:55):
They were able to make a goal line stand, but
just never able to really win that field position battle.
And then the fourth quarter, Catholic Central scoring on their
first play a Kamal Hillard forty six yard touchdown run
on third down, and that end of day sixty one
yard drives Amy the point after twenty eight seven. And
then just another little cherry on the top Moses Brown

(01:45:17):
on the game clinching drive, a five yard touchdown dash
Zania the point after is good and that leads us
to our final score of Catholic Central thirty five and
Northview seven.

Speaker 1 (01:45:28):

door post game show after the break, we might get
a few more scores from Rick Burkey teasing you for
the Meyers Scoreboard show. Our game reporters coming up in
that with Rick as well. But we've got to hand
out some awards. Who's going to be our Uptown Chiefskate
Offensive Player of the game, what about our Montel Construction
Defensive Player of the game. And we had some highlights tonight.
What about our J and H Family Stores highlight of
the game. That's all coming up. We continue with our

(01:46:11):
live coverage here for Wildcats Stadium at Northfew High School
for Week eight edition of the LMCU High School Football
Game of the Week only here on ninety six to
one the game. Welcome back to Wildcats Stadium. Here one
final time for Repekita fuck Gino. The Discount Door postgame Show,

(01:46:33):
again presented by Discount Door family owned a locally operated
business here in grand efforts for over thirty years, and
I can't emphasize enough they do repairs and maintenance.

Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
You don't see that too often.

Speaker 1 (01:46:43):
Discount doorgr dot com to find out everything they have
to offer. That's discount doorgr dot com. Well, as we
welcome you're back thirty five to seven grandapp its Catholic
Central wins it here tonight on the road over Norfew,
improving to eight in oh on the season, the number
one ranked team in the state this week in Division five,
and boy did they prove it, forcing turnovers, playing great defense,

(01:47:05):
taking advantage and putting points on the board more than
they've averaged coming into this game. And now just South
Christian stands between them and a perfect nine to zer
regular season before the playoffs begin in a couple of weeks.
And by the way, we're nine days away from the
MHSAA selection Sunday. How scary is that, Buck Gino as
we get ready for the playoffs. But it's time now

(01:47:26):
on the postgame show to hand out some awards, and
I'll start with my partner, buk Gino, with our uptown
Chiefskate offensive Player of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
Well, we had a lot of choices, to be quite honest,
I mean, pretty balanced and impressive performance by the Cougar offense,
but I think we're gonna go with the guy that
had one hundred and twenty three yards on seventeen carries
and two scores, and that person is Kamal Hillard. He
had the first touchdown to open the scoring and then

(01:47:55):
had a dynamic forty six yard touchdown run to start
the fourth core hoarse pretty much inched up the game.
I mean there was still plenty of time on the clock,
but at that point that he could probably you know,
get the fat lady warmed up and ready to go,
because it was.

Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
Twenty eight to seven at that point.

Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
So Kamal Hillard our Uptown Cheapskate offensive player of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
And I tell you what, buck Gino had the great
picture that he painted with that forty six hour touchdown run.
I mean, Hillard started to the right, he just kind
of got caught in the wash and where they get, okay,
just two three yard game right then he spun out
of it, came back reverse field and he was off
to the races and they couldn't catch him and just
like that, boom, it's twenty eight to seven. That was
a big play in the game after a scoreless by

(01:48:36):
both teams third quarter. So congratulations to the senior number nine.
Kamal Hillard is Tonight's Uptown Chiefskate Offensive player.

Speaker 3 (01:48:43):
Of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:48:44):
He coult a twenty five dollars gift car to do
some shopping with his friends at Uptown Chief skate with
the Grandville and kep with locations clean out your closet,
uring Castri your clothes. Plus you can become an Uptown
Insider and get monthly deals at uptown cheapskate dot Com.
Now it's my turn with the Monto Can Instruction. Defensive
Player of the Game, and just like Buck Gino, we
had choices on both sides. I mean there were some

(01:49:04):
great plays Northfield defensively, but certainly Catholic Central with all
the turnovers, we de signed to go with another senior.
One of eight that start four Todd Colster on that
defense number twenty three Keith chander Noah seven tackles on
the night from the secondary position and also one of
three picks by that defense.

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
Yeah, impressive performance by the defensive backfield of Catholic Central.
As you said, they collected three interceptions total. But really
what stood out was Keith Jander Noah not only with that,
but the tackles. I mean he was coming up and
run support yep, did a really good job of limiting
guys after the catch, had a couple of knockaways yep.
So just a really complete performance by Keith jander Noah

(01:49:41):
the senior. So for that, he is going to be
our Montel Construction Defensive Player of the Game.

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
It's brought to you by my home team.

Speaker 1 (01:49:48):
I'm talking about Montel Construction for exterior projects and they're
still busy this fall with great weather getting stuff done roofing, signing,
windows and more. Go to their website see some of
the photos of what they've done here in West Biscuits.
Unbelievable and so many great five star reviews Montel Construction
dot com. Well, the last award we've got to hand
out is our Garrett's Appliance Dependable Player of the Game.

Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
Buck. As you said, we had a lot of choices.
We can only pick three people.

Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
But what I will say is Kamal Hillard had seventeen
carries a hundred and twenty three yards. He got to
spread the wealth a little bit. And you gotta have a.

Speaker 3 (01:50:23):
Guy off the bench, or at least that's a second
option that you have to trust. And I think that
number zero, Moses Brown for tonight, was indeed that guy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:32):
He also had two touchdowns on the ground and very
good in spelling. Hillard or at least presenting a second
option for Catholic Central and really just doing a very
nice job of That's what you want out of your
second back. You want to to not fumble the football.
You just got to be dependable. You gotta be sure handed.

(01:50:53):
And he had a couple of touchdowns to boot. So
for that, Moses Brown our Garretts appliants dependable player of
the game tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:51:00):
Yeah, brought to you by Garrett's appliance. And just like
Moses tonight, their appliance has show that dependability that you
can count and a trust when you bring them into
your home. Check out Garrett's appliance. With a dependable player
of the game, you know what's gonna happen. You're gonna
see a two back set come playoff time. They're not
showing it yet, they don't need to. But I'm telling
you how many schools in Division five especially have a

(01:51:23):
situation where they have a Hillard and a Brown they
could throw at you, let alone at the same time.

Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
Yeah. Well, I mean it used to be Belding.

Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
Yeah they're in Division six now, so but you're right,
And that's why I talked about during the broadcast, is
when Catholic Central is at their best, number one they
have of a good defense, but now number two coach
Colster when he's got a complete tool box of weapons.
I mean, it's not just the running, it's the throwing,
it's Owen Spencer running the football. It's it's just they

(01:51:54):
have so many different ways that they can go. I mean,
if I was the coach, I'd have a tough time
decide what played around because they have so many good players.
But you're right, Moses Brown and Kamal Hillard a good
one to two punch. And when you get into those
Division five playoffs, man, it's gonna wreak havoc.

Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
On some of those defenses.

Speaker 1 (01:52:10):
Last but not lace, John Ilk, we need your assist
on this. The J and H Family Stores highlight of
the game. Now, think about this, Buck Gino said, Lightning
kind of struck quick. They took advantage of a turnover,
and it's fourteen to nothing after one grunappets Cathic Central.
But who would get that next touchdown? If Norfew gets
the touchdown in fourteen to seven, they're okay, right, But
if Katholic Central gets the touchdown, now you've got a

(01:52:32):
three score game and you don't even know what hits
you basically early in the second quarter, and that's exactly
what happened on this play with grand appens Catholic central
Odin Spencer airing it out to tight end Dean Armack
Salvatore as well cross the middle, Oldin Spencer wide open
on the backside, running down the sideline after the catch
inside of thirty fifteen ten five. They won't catch him

(01:52:53):
all the way to the house. Dean Armack, the senior
tight end. He got behind the corner. There was no
safety over on that side, and a beautiful throw by
Spencer instrat he turned it up. No one was there
and he put on the afterburners in just like that,
Catholic central.

Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
Of a quick strike.

Speaker 1 (01:53:10):
They lead it now twenty to nothing, number twelve on
both sides. The football played well tonight. Senior Dean Armack
there with a touchdown catch. Our J and H Family
Stores highlight of the game with sixty plus locations across
Michigan to serve you, I guarantee if you're in your
car driving right now, somewhere, look to your right, look
to your left, there's probably a J and H Family
Stores stopping on the way to your next game or

(01:53:31):
on your way, and then keep looking ahead to the
road don't don't.

Speaker 2 (01:53:34):
Keep if you didn't see one swerve over, don't don't
keep looking.

Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Just would trust us. You'll get there eventually.

Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
Hey, I want to thank our crew to night, but
before I do that, we love coming to Northview and
being involved with the Wildcats.

Speaker 3 (01:53:46):
With either teams.

Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
Pat Marsman does a great job their athletic director. He
always takes care of us here.

Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
I mean their food budget has to be among the
top in the Okay Conference. I mean they've got us
full spread there and I tell you coming here it's
been fun the last couple of years, not only because
of the great service that Pat Marsman and his staff give,
but I also the excitement of the fans. Yeah, it
was a tough one tonight. Didn't hear a lot of
crowd noise because of the result. But I will tell

(01:54:13):
you that when they have a good team, this community
here for Northview is they will show up and they
show up in DROs for a big game. They did
so again tonight. It's always a very good atmosphere here
at Northview. So we're always pleased to see that because
that's what high school football.

Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
Is all about.

Speaker 2 (01:54:32):
It's not always about the wins and losses is you're
not gonna remember those as much as man. It was
fun every Friday night to come to the football field
and have a game, and that's what Northview brings. So
tremendous atmosphere here tonight didn't go their way, but boy,
just a really nice place to watch a high school
football game here and that's why we love coming.

Speaker 1 (01:54:53):
Our Wing Jersey fan of the game in week eight
as well. Congratulations Ryan Pappeal of Grand Rapids. Thanks to
everyone to listen and trying to call in gets that
twenty five dollars gift card tonight to Wing Doozy for
Ryan Ashnoch, Northfel's head coach, and of course our good
friend Grind Rapids Catholic Central's Todd Coolster are thanks to
them for helping us with our game prep tonight for

(01:55:13):
this broadcast. John Elkar, Executive Producer extraordinaire, Joe Arrant and
Colbani are gonna hear more from them at the score Center.
Coming up with a minor scoreboard show, but saying so
long from Wildcat Stadium, about to hand it off to
the Hall of Famer himself. Rick Berkey four Bucchineto I
Brepichitas once again. Our final score Ground Rapids Catholic Central
thirty five, Northview seven.
