captains meeting out there at center field. Catholic Central is
going to start by receiving the football, so they'll go
on offense first, and that leads us Buck into our

Northfew knocked him off last year and they went on
to a perfect regular seat at nine to zero and

Well, we'll start with the keys for the visiting Cougar's. Well,
what they've got to do is they're gonna have to

took the next week off against Idawa Hills. So they
didn't even play their number one quarterback. They had Sweeney
back there, and so they've really got to get some

good ball. But I think if you're Daniels, what you
got to do is there is. You got to adjust
the ball thrown just a little bit underneath where he
was trying to go. It was supposed to be a
fly pattern, kind of gets caught in the crosswind there,
so he tries to adjust him. By the time he does,
the defensive back reacts is able to cover it and

Dean Armack is the senior tight end. They'll stack him
with the right out of thirty and eight slot to
the right. Andy Jacob number five is out there as well.
Oden Spencer under some pressure, flushed out of the pocket,

But you know what Todd Colsters used to that they
do a good job of coaching up their offensive lineman
to be two or three year starters. First down to

The defensive backs from Northview early have struggled to stay
in coverage in Spencer, that's what he's able to do.

the Wildcats, that's a fifteen yard penal.

He was looking for Shab that time, got his feet
tangled up with Julian Charity, the defensive back. So first
down in ten after the penalty, they work from just
outside the Northview ten yard line at the enleven slot left,
two backs to the backfield. Now Spencer under center takes
his snaphand off left side. First carry for him. You're
trying to bounce it outside if I was offensive line,

but nothing doing. Now gets a little rugby push, but
the north View defense was tough right there. They'll give
him forward progress inside the den about a yard and
a half second to long aid coming up for Catholic Central.

Yeah, and two big plays early for them have been

keep the defense honest.

is a tough spot because you clearly know that they

you mentioned, they love that heavy set and he's the

the freshman tall wide receiver smart play to give North
View the football at the thirty five yard line. So

AJ Johnson in company the wide receiver for the Wildcats
out on display. First down in ten they go to
the air with their young quarterback only a junior, and
it is complete that time up the sideline enough for
a first town across to forty five to the forty six.

JV for Hudsonville. Transferred over and this kid's put up
some big numbers over thirteen hundred yards passing company. Pretty
balanced offense for Ryan Ochknock and the Wildcats. They throw
it a little bit more than they like to run it.

Yeah, Well, when you've got gamp back there, you clearly
are gonna still give him the rock on the ground,
but a lot of good receivers and like you said, Brayleen,
Jefferson can sure sling it.

Man in most day faith jet sweep and Jefferson trying
to run it over the right side was stacked up immediately.
This defense for Catholic Central is ultra tough. They say
it's one of the best that they've had. And as
you know, you've covered him for years with the East
Grand Rapid Sports. That's saying something that time Jacob brought
us on the tackle, big defensive lineman, senior up front.

Well, and they've always been sounded defensively when they've had
the good teams, and you kind of think about, you know,
the great offensive numbers they've played up, especially the games
that we've done when they've played in the state finals,
like ooh, they did put all these points up. Well,
it's probably because the defense is gathered the ball back
so much so a lot of times that defense sets
up that potent offense. And they've got another good unit

Jefferson now setting up the offensive set on second night,

Very few kids at the high school level we're able
to do it effectively and as fast as he's able
to do it.

And you saw it there in the open field right there,
first down and ten fake to Gant across the middle,
big tight end Van Proyan, he was gonna be a concern.
Todd Colster told us he thinks he's underrated as far
as tight ends in the state of Michigan. He's inside
the twenty after that catch down to the nineteen yard line,
wide open the middle field that was set up with
the play action fake to gantt.

Yeah, and the play action there gets the linebackers frozen
and then Van Prey and right down the seam, and
the safety just absolutely not able to get down there
and help because obviously he's got deep coverage with the
receivers being three three wide.

Good job by the Catholic Central defense stacking him up
with two or three guys around. Gant right at the
line of scrimmage, might have lost a yard to the twenty.

rotated wide receivers in this offense for Ryan Oschnock due
to Britain. The freshman coming in very talented, goes about
six two sixty three. You got Gant, you got Van Proyn,

who's a playmaker at the tight end. Don't forget about
a J. Johnson number two back for his senior year.
Very explosive offense like you mentioned, and they're gonna need
some big plays to night Bucks. You know, jet sweep
trying to get it to the outside short side of
the field and there's just nothing but white jerseys. They
are Catholic Central gonna stop them for a loss. They're
going in the wrong direction back of the twenty four

yard line. So now third in we'll call it fourteen
coming up for the Wildcats, they at one point were
in the red zone of Catholic Central.

They try Logan Tyson on a jet sweep to the

Usually don't run that play, especially to the short side
on the high school field, because there's just so much

it's an unfortunate breakthrough of Northview because he gets tipped

throw there for Jefferson tried to do a little bit

Andy Jacob by the way, number five got his hand

off and he puts his nose down inside the forty five,
kind of running over the right tackle and end and

Eight seniors and then three very talented sophomores make up
this starting eleven. Defensively for Todd Colster and Catholic Central,
it's giving up less than a.

Yeah, and you mentioned last year with North View they
kind of popped onto the scene and beating Catholic Central
was kind of everybody's eye opener, right. I Mean they
had a couple of decent wins before, but you know,
people think, okay, how good are they really? Well they
be and again Catholic Central was young last year, but
to do that to them at home, you know, not
only to hold them without a touchdown, but win a

defensive battle.

Not many teams were able to do that, regardless of
the talent.

Level with Catholic Central, and that kind of opened up
everybody's eyes.

You know, they lost a lot of good players last year, Wilsonior,
the running back, and some key players in defense, but
they're still a good team. I just think now you see,
got some younger players now coming up Braalen Jefferson, a
junior transfer quarterback that did not play any varsity football
before this year, and some other younger guys that kach
Osh is trying to shepherd along. And Catholic Center, we

didn't really know still what they had. We knew they
would probably improve upon their record from last year, which
was at the five and four mark in the regular season,
but we didn't really expect him to be this far ahead.
I mean, a very good young team with still a
lot of room to grow. I mean, if you're looking
at this, they've got freshman and sophomores playing significant time.

They do have other guys that are going to be graduating,
and you mentioned Sweeney going to produce. I mean, they're
gonna lose some guys, but a good base of young
players getting varsity experience.

I think this is Catholic Central, especially this version of
Catholic Central, is going to be very good for quite
some time. So if you're in the ok black Well.
Get ready for a long string of good play by

And they're led by that defense that has eight senior
starters the three other sophomores that are very talented. So
there's your leadership. And they showed up tonight like they
have every game so far. And why the rate no
give it up to set? Seven points six and a
half is what the average coming in and obviously forcing turnovers,

Home final scoring summer, you'll take us through that. But

it was really set up early with those Catholic Central
turnovers against Northview short fields whatever it might be. And
that's the key to having really a championship defense like
the Cougars have.

Catholic Central starts at scoring off on their first drive
and the opening kickoff Kamal Hillard at one yard touchdown
run after a six play fifty six yard drive zany

They get down inside the red zone, but an interception
that was tipped up Baylen Jefferson throws his first one
of the game. There were more to come, Unfortunately, for

a good return on the interception, got good field position
and they turned it into a touchdown by Moses Brown.
Fourteen to nothing after one quarter of play. And then

Northview goes three and out and Catholic Central has third
down and Northe's thinking, okay, we can get a stop here.
They'd missed on first a third down to the first drive.
They're like, okay, we can just get a stop. Well,
they did the opposite of that Odin Spencer to Armack
from fifty nine yards out, and that made the score
twenty one to nothing and they were off and running.

Northew showed a little bit of a fight as Jalen
Gant goes in from twelve yards I would after a
big punt return by Gossner. And it was really a
nice swing for them because that was the best field
position they had all game. If they don't get a

I mean there was still plenty of time on the clock,
but at that point that he could probably you know,
get the fat lady warmed up and ready to go,
