Speaker 1 (00:00):
They motion purchase now sending him back. Played baked fist
fires across the middle. Touchdown has this man on a
little crossing route. Jack Dahn holds it in in traffick
this with a bullet deer in South Christian on the board.

Speaker 2 (00:13):

Speaker 1 (00:22):
He saw senior brother do what he said, I can
do it too. Campaign takes it from forty two yards
out and the Bulldogs extend their lead.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's almost game night, West Michigan. Time to hear from
the coaches and the guys who call the games in
the press box. Who's in this week's top ten and
what about the players of the week. No one covers
high school football like we do. This is the LMCU

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Well as we open up this show for a week
seven edition of the Lake Michigan Credit Union High School
football Preview. Hard to believe when the final third of
the regular season before the playoffs begin. Let's go right
into the Montel Construction Coaches Corner. There were one of
the stories that we wanted to watch this year year
two under head coach Don Fellows, the Knights of Kennaway
Hills so young a year ago, and we welcome Don

(01:45):
into the Montel Construction Coaches Corner for your exterior project needs.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Montel Construction dot Com your best resource.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Obviously with the great weather, those guys are still working
as far as decks, roofingsidey windows, Montel Construction dot Com
and mister Fellows, welcome in. It wouldn't be a season
without talking to you. And how about those nights at
five and.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
One, Well, thanks for having me. We're excited. I think
taking over a program, you know, it's a lot of
work with the coaching staff, and you also get re
energized as a coach too. Right, So your new community,
new kids, new goals, new situation. You know, our staff
has pretty much stayed the same the last fifteen years,
the core guys. So it's been a really good time
and it's been fun and especially in the community.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
That's all in Well, that's what I want to ask
you about is Kenway Hills because I know they're desperate
for a winner in football, really in any sport, but
especially football. And you take this over now in year two.
Just what did you see the vision when you took
this job and how has that played out in over
a year and a half.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Well, I knew originally, Right, you're doing your due diligence
and you're trying to look at, you know, administration, what
kind of support there is a community love football? You know,
what's the hunger level? And right, there's a lot of
communities that want to win, and this is our third.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Community we've been in.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
And then you know, you're kind of laying it out.
Now I'm in my thirtieth year, you're kind of laying
it out to the administration of like, okay, this is
what it takes, and you're trying to match it up
like personality wise to the school, and you know, like
started with our superintendent, mister Hopkins, and then Nate Robrons
are principal and Ross Wick are ad and they, you know,
we all had the same vision. And when you're on
the same page with in terms of like your administration

(03:14):
and your staff and the school itself, a lot of
great things can happen. And then in return, we knew
that the twenty seventh class at Kenawa Hills, which Will Fussman,
you know, was kind of the main kid and he
was a quarterback growing up and he wanted to switch
to receiver. So with Grayson coming in with me, it
was kind of a perfect fit. The twenty seven class
is really good. The twenty eighth class is undefeated as

(03:35):
a JV or ninth grade class is born to our
eighth grade classes four and OH and our seventh grade
classes four and oh numbers are high. We have forty
five million dollars bond pass for athletic facilities, so it's
it was just perfect timing for me, you know, after
my incident and going through what I had to go through.
The communities rallied around what I've brought to the table,
and the kids have bought in, and that's this important party.

(03:57):
They show up day in, day out for two and
a half year and where two years and we you know,
the lifting class in the morning, and so all the
intangils are there to make it in a great place.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Don I'm a big believer to growing up in this
area and plane in all these communities because I grew
up in Rockford, that they know what they're up against.
And I'm saying that to your point of what you
just laid out is the plan, what it looks like,
how do we become successful? Because as you know, Kenaway
Hills has had limited success, but they've had success. Scott
van Essen, who's on your staff, was the head coach there,
did very good things before.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
And they have talented players and kids that are hungry
to win.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
But my point being is you got Coopersville right there,
you got Rockford right there, right, you got West Catholic
right in their back door.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
So they know that, hey, we've got to raise the
bar right.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Well, No one of the things that just that bothers
me a little bit, like the perception of a recruiting right,
like we're recruiting kids from outside the district. And you
know that's the one thing I hear all the time,
it's I got a great job. He got Grayson in London, right, Well,
you know Grayson's my son. He was coming with me
in London. Is different circumstances, but ninety nine percent of
our job when we are at Union, and we turned

(05:02):
that around, what's keeping Grand Rapids public? Kids in Grand
Repids public? And we were able to do that once
we left those kids kind of fitted to other places.
Then was no different. We're just such a big district
and it's not like other schools are recruiting our kids.
But you know, you can live on the Coopersville borderline
and it's five minutes coopers Vonte and it might be
twenty minutes.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Trust.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Same thing with Sparta, same thing with the concept Park
West Catholics in our in our school district. So then
was such a big district. So we had to do
We know, you have to get out, you got to hustle.
We have nine kids that are in our program right
now that never played football before we got there, and
seven of them start. So you got to recruit your
own school. You got to make you've got to make

(05:40):
your programming where kids don't want to leave you. I
think that's steupgrading facilities up and programming, and you've got
to attract your own kids first and foremost. And I
think that's what our administration saw. I think that's what
they thought I could bring to the table, that we'd
re energize the community. And so we're we're excited about
the future because I think we're doing all those intangible
things to keep our kids in our districts.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Great stuff.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Let's go on the field a little bit and talk
about what you guys do on the field. Because last year,
in your first year, you win six games, you get
to the playoffs. How important was that to lead to
what's been a really good start to this year for
you guys.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
I think it's it's crucial. It's everything. Like you come
in and you're you know, it's different than when I
was younger. You come in and you just say, listen,
I can't promise you anything, but here's the process of
what we're going to do. We need you to buy
in it. Even though you buy it doesn't mean you're
going to have success. Right away. But if you don't
do it, you don't have any chance. Kids bought into it.
We had some really good seniors. You know, we had
three college football players that left Jeremiah Richards Chess and

(06:31):
Cole and lockachor so you know, he had a cornerstone
of really solid kids. But it just brings credibility to
what you're preaching and what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
I want to talk a little bit about the dynamic
with you and your son, and I know the Fellows
family a little bit. There's gonna be some future quarterbacks
coming up for you and Jeremy, but I know how
special that is. And my point is, has it been
tough for you as a dad slash coach with Grayson
because like you said, he came with you or whatever,
and how is he that and how have his teammate

(07:01):
handled that?

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well? You know that's that's It's a great question because
we are a football family, right My brother and I
both play quarterback, our cousins, the defense coordinator, we have,
we have so many friends and family. I got three
former players that played for me at Chrish and Oar's staff,
so we're a football family. My mom hasn't missed the game.
I don't think ever right, and so we're kind of
a football crazy family. And then you know the question
about with Grayson. I think for me, I handle him

(07:25):
like that with anybody else, like I think you guys know,
I'm pretty tough on our kids with their attitude, not urting,
and I'm intense with him. So that's never changed with
my own son. That poor kid, you know. I think
last year he told me on the way home, I'm like, hey,
roll in the car, can you just be dad. I'm like, okay.
So I think I've had to adjust with him, like
once football is over, I got to let him be
a kid. But you know, it's easy when you have

(07:46):
a kid. I think all coaches appreciate this when your
son is the hard worker. He loves football. He was
picked as a captain unanimously this year, and as a
sophomore coming in, the older kids select him as captain.
I think the kids know like what his DNA is,
and he's just a really good, solid kid. Somehow, Patty,
I got really two good kids, and so I'm blessed

(08:07):
to coach him. I'm blessing him as a quarterback. I
think he's one of the best quarterbacks in the state.
Obviously I'm a little biased, but the kid, the kid
loves ball.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
So let's talk about your players besides your big three,
right because we tell you. I mean, Grayson's outstanding, London
Hampton over two hundred yards last week and the win
over Lowell and Will Fossman outstanding. I mean, it's like
the Triplets, you know, the Cowboys when they're going to
all those Super Bowls. But you've got a lot of
good players. Who else is getting done for you guys?

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Well, I mean it really kind of starts with our
old line. I think, right we had some younger kids.
Now we have four seniors, but you know, Sesar Chavez
or Sea there is our is our center. And then
we have you know, Bobby Heizma who's returning starter, Cooper
Dunham back and Mitch Norek. Those are four seniors, and
you know we've been able to protect Grayson for the

(08:52):
most part, run the ball. And then I don't think defensively,
our numbers aren't great, but you know, like we out
lolled to out or two hundred yards rushing last week,
we had the quarterback under seventy yards and that since
I've been by Low all these years. That's really hard
to do. You know, we give up some bad touchdowns,
but our linebacker play has been phenomenal. Derek Chapin, who
is one of our best basketball players, and then Xander

(09:13):
Jos have been great. And then I think the one
kid that goes under the radar that I think is
a college football player is our safety. You know, McCoy Bernalini,
that kid is he started first last year Renterison tackles.
That is just an un nsuming kid. But we I
look at it. We play two kids both ways. We
don't play any old line d line kids. We have
twenty three, twenty four really good solid football players and

(09:35):
we're not We're not. We don't have a bunch of
superstars everywhere, but we don't have a lot of like
kids like you've got to hide. And you know, I
feel like in high school football you have twenty two
kids that can play ball and you're not hiding the
kid and they work hard and they're there. I think
you have a chance to be really successful.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Don do you know this game Friday night is going
to be our game of the week. On ninety six
won the game at Coopersville and talking to you when
we've had a chance offseason.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I know the respect you have for Ed came in
the jibt.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
He's done at that program at Coopersville, and certainly they're
one of the teams you have to look at when
you're talking about the River Cita's alliance with Lowell, with
Cedar springs with yourself. So with who you've played so far,
throw Battle Creek, Harper Creek, your loan loss in there.
How prepared do you feel your team is for what
they're going to see from Coopersville. They got a freshman
quarterback who's starting to play better, you know as lineage

(10:21):
as well with Meerman in that game and the setup
for this game on Friday.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
Night, Yeah, you know, I've done that for a long time.
And goes back to our relationship with Mark Chapman and
great great guy, great family. Have a lot of respect
for those guys in good coaches.

Speaker 7 (10:37):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
I think it does Riley game. It feels like a
lot like when I was at Christian with these fran
rapids of Lowells. So you know, it doesn't really matter
the records or you kind of throw them out, you know.
M Kelly Kidd, who's I think is gonna be really good.
He comes from an athletic family, so I don't really
look at it as a freshman at this point.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
For me, I'm just kind of worried out about the process.
We're seven and one at home since i've been here,
and four on the road, and we don't we haven't
handled ourselves very well after big wins. So almost all
the lots the same thing with Harvard Creek. We beat
a really good seater rings team, We get on the bus,
we go down there and we lay it right. That's
not me to get it's prepared. So we've kind of

(11:16):
discussed that because we're kind of in the same situation.
I think Coopersville's playing for their playoff lives. We got
to go on the road, you know. We can't take complace.
So we had a really good day yesterday. But we
still start sixteen under classmen. So we're trying to still.
You know, I think you can have failure in a program,
and I always say, like prep like you sailed and
that's one issue, or when you're having the success like

(11:38):
we're having out of the gate five and one, you know,
that's a whole other issue of trying to keep them
focused and grounded and sticking to the process, so we
don't run for a battle Friday. But I think if
we if we don't turn the ball over, we come
with energy. I think we can take care of business.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
Total Hills head coach Don Fellows joining us in the
coach's corner. Coach, you're killing me with this. I I'm
been out on a mountain that home field advantage doesn't
matter in high school.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
There you go real clearly you're in breadth.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
Side on that one. Now tell me about the Harper
Creek loss. You just took the blame for it, sigu
late In. I mean, Harper Creek's really good. Are there
things you take out of that? Does it help? It's
a stupid question. Does it help to have a game
like that just to kind of help you improve?

Speaker 6 (12:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
You send it that way right to your kids. You're
you want to say, like, yeah, we're going to learn
from this and move on. But you know, I think
I do agree with Gride a little bit on this.
When you're at song and in Kimble Hills, if you
haven't been to a game, our environment is absolutely amazing.
New scoreboard, new turf, new stadiums coming basis pat we

(12:35):
have a great palgating area, so there's like a different energy.
You put fifteen, sixteen seventy your kids on a bus
and you've got to go an hour and forty five minutes, right,
you got to wake them up halfway through. You stop,
you're changing every your routine. I think young kids like
if you change your routine, it's really really difficult. So
you know, getting down there, they're pretty good. Like, you know,
I think our kids look at Okay, theater beat them.

(12:57):
We beat theater. We're gonna go down there and when
score on the first drive and then we should never
really recover. My disappointment with that group that day was
like we didn't really compete. And I think, if you
know anything about us, like we're competitors. Drippy and I
go after each other quite a bit, even if it's
cards or whatnot. So it was kind of disappointing. But
you know, we had a really long meeting when we
got back to the school that night. You're like, listen,
what are your goals? And you know, I think it's

(13:19):
helpless focus. I thought we had a really good week
last week against a really good loyal team and you know,
it's just I think the older I get you just
realize you're trying to tell kids, like, here's what happened.
Here's a good example of life down the road, that
this is going to happen to you. And sometimes you
got to persevere and roll your sleeves up and things
aren't always going to go your way. So how are
you going to handle it?

Speaker 5 (13:39):
You can get me on that one. The bus ride,
I do buy into Bratt. If it's a long drive,
I do think that's different than the eleven minute trip
or whatever it is you got to make this week
to Cooper's. That's my stand.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Well, Don, congratulations on the success so far with Kennway Hills,
and I know you're not done yet. You're building on that.
You mentioned how young you still are. We were talking
about how young you were last year with all the sophomores.
Coach but to luck on Friday, and I always appreciate
the time you've always been there for us.

Speaker 8 (14:03):
Weep.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Thanks you guys, thanks for covering us.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
As they worked towards the left, hash Marsma to the
left of van Ley got third and twelve takes the
snap baked to Harzba in the pocket looking looking out.
Plused out to his left, kind to buy some time
to us from the back of the end zone.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Got a man out there, goes up.

Speaker 8 (14:27):
To he make the ground.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Grab at the back of the end zone and there's
your guy Loss and Webber.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Check that one out of the highlights.

Speaker 8 (14:42):
He just hiball that and I think he did.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Isaac to Slad brought it down with one Hay, buck Gino.
It was a lot of fun last week. Let's do
it again this week.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
It's our four Pack segment, brought to you by Jane
h Family Stores with now sixty plus locations across Michigan
to serve you truly j Hvan Stopping on the way
out to your next high school sporting event or on
your way home. We welcome in Buck Gino, Tom Kendra
who help us with our broadcast every Friday night. Of course,
Jay and I in studio here and guys, let's get
it started, because we always want enough time to talk.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
About these games. Buck Gino.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You're going first Belding at Muskegon Oakridge.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:19):
Well, I was going to have a different game on,
but we found out that that was actually getting played yesterday,
so that wasn't going to work. I did want to
shout out though, and it's going to be after the
fact that I do want to shout out Martin and
Grand Rafting Sacred Heart in the eight man division. Whoever
wins that game going to stay undefeated and has a
pretty good shot at making it all the way up north.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
But I digress.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
We're supposed to be talking about Belding, Oak Fridge, and boy,
this is going to be a really good game.

Speaker 7 (15:46):
Now.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
These two teams are very familiar with each other. They
played each other in the last three seasons, three times
in the playoffs. Okrich got the better of Building and
then Okridge losing to Belding last year in the regular
season because the Black Knights wanted to rematch, so they
got one and Belding was able to win that game
quite convincingly. This is a big game for both teams,

(16:06):
not only because it's a non conference affair, but now
because Belding is in Division six, they don't have to
worry about seeing each other in the playoffs, so they
can do a little bit.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
More than they may.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
Have in the past because they always had to be
worried of that maybe meeting up in the playoffs and
showing a little bit too much on film building. Now
in Division six the Oakridge and Division five, either team
that wins this one's gonna have some pretty good playoff
points because of the record of their opponents. Belding the
last time they missed the playoffs in twenty nineteen, so they're.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
Not gonna have to worry about that.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
Oakridge hasn't missed it since like before I even had kids,
two thousand and four, the last time they met the playoffs,
and coach Bunker has done a really good job with
them in his first year. And they are five and one.
That's gonna be an interesting one because Belding we've seen them,
but they're very explosive offensively, especially because they can create
turnovers and get extra possessions with that strong offense, and

(16:59):
now you're a very good defensive team. They only had
one real slope up and that was against Weddington where
they had a really bad game in the Weddington well,
they're still they're very good. So this is going to
be an interesting one because I think that both these
teams are looking to build towards the playoffs. Boat Bridge's
last couple of games are very big for them, not
only because they're rivalry games, but because they're also non

(17:20):
conference games. Their conference games are done in the West
Michigan Conference, so these are extra games and outside of
the conference that they choose to play. They've got Ravenna,
North U Skegan both those teams and be fighting to
try to get into the playoffs. And then Belding has
two silver games left in Comstock Park and Godwin Heights.
Godwin Heights could be the Okay Silver Championship, and that

(17:42):
one could be in week nine, that could be the
Okay Silver Championship. It is amazing to say when we
thought about what these teams are going to be in August,
but boy, this is going to be a really good matchup.
And this is always one that teams or that people
look to, with these teams having been in the playoffs
time and time again.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Tom Kendrick wouldn't be right if I didn't go to
you next and tell us the history of the Oakridge Boys.

Speaker 9 (18:05):
Well, oak Ridge, you know, just consistent excellence here after
year and it's continued under Tim Parker. They're coming into
this game on a huge high after last week they
were down thirteen to nothing at halftime, up at Whitehall.
They come back and get the win, and how about
the their female kicker, Sianna Ecker, converting both extra points

(18:25):
and the margin of victory last week. But it's also
a great opportunity for the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division,
which I think is one of the most improved leagues
in the whole area. Luddington had a huge win over Coopersville,
Whitehall had that big win over Zeland West, and now
Oakridge has the chance to make a statement. There's another

(18:45):
real good team in that league and it's a Montague
in a watch for them in Division six. I think
they could be real tough in the playoffs. Yeah, this game,
you know, it turned into a pretty good rivalry between
these two schools. Belding also they completely shut down through
port last week, so you know, I think it could
come down to defense. Two very good defensive teams. Jordan

(19:09):
Guerrero McGrady has really stepped up and played well this
year for Oakridge, Teagan van Dyke and for Belding. I
just think it's a real close game on paper. Maybe
give Oakridge to the edge playing that home.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
I think this is about defense to defense to play
really good and For me, the key is like nobody's
been able to beat Oakridge in the middle, right. They're
just too good up there with Gabe Sturgeon and Brett Cole,
and there the linebackers Preston six and Jordan Guerrero McGrady.
So can Belding get the edges and they've been doing
that a little bit better lately. You just saw them
two weeks ago. Can they get Ethan King? Can they
get Nick right? Can they get Teagan Vandyke and on
the outside maybe even beat him a little bit with

(19:44):
the pass and throwing it to Jonahummels. So I just
think that's two really good defensive teams. I expect a
little scoring battle.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
I agree with Tom the difference might be. And I
know you don't feel that big about home field advantage.
Oakridge is a special place to play, it really is.
And I think they've got their swagger back a little bit.
First of all, I think this is going to be
a throwback, old school. If you love hard hitting, physical backs,
offensive line play game, you're gonna love this. But Oakridge
is won for the last five Belding beat him last year.

(20:11):
So Oakridge boys, are they revitalized here? Like their days
have pass. This will be a fun one, no doubt
about that. Let's go to Tom Kendra next and we'll
stay over in that area. Whitehall at Luddington. We've been
talking about this for a couple of weeks now, Tom.

Speaker 9 (20:24):
We sure have. It might have lost a little bit
of its luster with Whitehall getting upsot last week at
home against Oakridge, but you know Luddington, what a story.

Speaker 7 (20:33):
Six and zero.

Speaker 9 (20:33):
Their closest game with that opener a twenty seven point
win at Coopersville. But they've outscored their opponents to ninety
two to thirty two. And you know, Cameron Gunsel, he's
been as good as advertised senior quarterback for Oakridge. He's
six thirty one ninety We don't get into staffs a
whole lot, but I got to mention his stats. He's
seventy one of ninety one through the air, seventy eight

(20:56):
percent over fourteen hundred yards, fourteen passing touch downs, just
one interception, and then on the ground he's rushed for
seven hundred and ninety six yards and twenty two more touchdowns.
Just an unbelievable season so far for Cam Gunso his
dad is the coach up there, Charlie guns He said
it's going to be his last year and wouldn't it

(21:16):
be something if Luddington was really no playoff history was
able to make a run in Division four. I got
to mention a couple other names, Taj Williams and Kyle Hines,
that those are his two main receiving targets. But just
flipping it quickly to Whitehall. You look at them, they
look at this game. You know, they have blown out
Luddington four years in a row, including last year forty

(21:37):
seven to ten, So you know they're thinking this is
a team we usually beat. You know, are we going
to We're going to lose to them again, or we're
going to lose to them. So I think I think
they're coming up there a little mad after letting that
game get away last week against Oakridge. So I think
this will be the closest game of the year for Luddington.
But I think the Orioles are going to keep rolling.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
I think I heard somewhere after Cam Gunsel committed to
Farris State that he was going to be going there
to play defense. I mean, I just watched the Oakrige game.
I mean, this dude checks all the boxes. In the
quarterback Oh yeah, size, arm, ability to run, true dual
threat accuracy, Like I want to see this guy play
quarterback in college like he's legit. And you talk about
his air apparent. I think the freshman number two, Michael

(22:17):
Hymes is the air apparent him at quarterback, but right
now at slot receiver, he is dangerous. I love this
matchup because you got Whitehall, who's got Corday Anderson, who's
also going to Faris. I mean, this is where you
need your big time players to step up and play
big and I know Corday Anderson will do that. Colasa Baggers,
I mean the challenge is tall for Whitehall. Should be interesting.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
I will just comment real quick. He's gotten his blood Jay.
His dad played quarterback at Farris State, his coach Charlie,
So I mean he knows all about leaving the Bulldogs
and I think he could. But I think Tony Nice
doesn't need him right now at the quarterback position because
of the fact that he probably wants to get to
the field and play.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
And here we go the safety position.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
But this kid is everyone talking about him up there,
and my thoughts on this is just I love the
chess match of the coaching matchup to what Tom says.
If there's a coach that could beat Luddington, I think
it's Tony Siegmund and his staff at Whitehall. They'll find
a way to try to make this as competitive as possible.
Do they have enough athletes on the roster this year
compared to years past? That's the thing that is going

(23:12):
to be maybe what holds them back.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
But you know your thoughts well all.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
Tom said that this one kind of lose a little
luster because of Whitehall getting upset by Oakridge. I don't
know about upset. Okage is pretty dang good even though
they are, you know, a smaller school. I think this
actually increases the visibility of this game because now Whitehall
is looking at this going man to lose this one.
We're going to be four and three and they've got
a couple of games left. I mean, playoff points are

(23:38):
going to be a big factor here, and they've always
been a staple in the playoffs, but coming in at
six and three, you might be having to go to
a place, so you don't want to go like, oh,
I don't know, Zeland West that that you've just beaten,
and we know how things go when you play a
team the second time that said, I think only say

(24:00):
we don't have those guys ready. And also, Jay, I
know that you like seeing Charlie, you like seeing Guncil
play quarterback. You don't think Tony isn't going to find
a way for that kid to throw the ball he
launch or schlice in his college career. I mean, we
know what he can do with the scheming and getting
guys out in all sorts of different positions. So I
wouldn't put a wid on mister Dunhill's quarterback career as

(24:20):
soon as he gets done with high school. But that
also said that you you're right, they have so many
weapons and they're so physical. That's the thing you look at.
You're like, man, all these guys, these passes and they
are physical. Are the Orioles. And that has always done
a thing for Lunnington when they have done very good
is their physical play. And I think that's going to
be where the key is. Whitehall played a team like

(24:43):
Zealand West, who's a little bit different than when they
were under John Schote, but still the same system they've had.
They've played physical teams before. It's going to be just
very interesting and I'm going to go back to what
Bet said. Also, it's going to be about the matchups
and do they just have enough? Guy, it's as Whitehall
to match up against the weapons that Wedington has to bear.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
All Right, I want to talk about the best game
maybe in the state. I mean you've got Harperwood Saline,
so maybe we can't say it's the best game in
the state, but certainly in the top two. East camp
Win in hudson absolutely can't believe this is up for
grabs in the four pack. I mean five and one
East Camtood's six in a Hudsonville. What I love about
this is the matchups. You can say, well, hudson way
to beat Rockford, Rockford to be East Kent would But
it's about the matchups we're talking about these elite teams here.

(25:25):
Hudsonville does a lot of things. Well, what they do
the best is stopped the run, right, I mean, you
cannot run the football against Hudsonville. They shut down Brodie Skydeman,
They've shut down everybody on the ground. But East Kenton's
alright with that because East Kent Win's best way to
move to the football is through the air, so can Hudsonville
get pressure on Kate Kaufman. Can the secondary step up?
I think this game's fascinating.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I don't want to jump in front of my partner,
book Gino, because he'll be all over this because he
was during the broadcast of what Rockford did in the
second half. So Buck, there you go. He served it
up to you with Hudsonville and maybe how you try
to beat them right because Braden Daniels found a way.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
I think part of that was the product of Brandon
Dane is also not being able to run a gouts
named right for the second time in two leaves, which
is pretty awesome. But you're right, I mean Rockford is
able to move the ball by throwing and throwing downfield.
I think that's going to be the key. Kate Coxon
has put up a lot of yards. If you watch
the games, there hasn't been a lot of downfield passing.

(26:22):
Hasn't been downfield passing for sure. He's got a Division
one arm. They're gonna throw the ball around the yard,
but a lot of it's thrown to the side and
getting Mighty Edmunds out in the flat and then getting
him leans to run. So if you're Hudsonville, this is
going to be a tough job because, yeah, you want
to get pressure on them, but you also have to
have guys out there to catch the weapons and the

(26:45):
speed that East Kentwood has. Yes, he's very tough to
run against. The Eagles you can throw on them. However,
what I will say is also Hudsonville, as.

Speaker 7 (26:55):
They did last week, they're very good at just keeping
the ball. If they can keep the ball, not have
turnovers and have long sustained drives that get them points
like they.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
Were doing the first half against Rockford, that makes it
tougher on East Kentwood because these Kentwood sometimes will have
those bad drives as we saw in week four. Sometimes
they just don't capitalize on turnovers and then all of
a sudden they're down, but they're kind of winning the battle.
So this is the game that execution is going to
be key, because if Hudsonville doesn't give them extra possessions,

(27:27):
they can wear out that these Kentwould team that has
a couple of guys that play on both sides, and
they can go into the second half and just continue that.
But it's as a close game. You can't the longest
one goes that they're on top or they're they're close
to the league, the longer they have a chance to
win this game.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
All right, Tom Kendra, it's a good one. How do
you see this one playing out in the Okay Red Well,
I can't.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
Believe it came all the way to me without anyone
mentioning the Cats last week lost and whatever. How about
the one handed, left hand grab in the end zone
for the winning touchdown? Unbelievable. Yeah, but you mentioned that
run defense. How do you hold Rockford to negative seventeen
yards rushing? That's just incredible to me. But you're right,
Kate Kaufman can throw the ball and he's going to

(28:11):
be throwing it a lot Friday night. I just look
at East Kentwood getting better and better. You look at
the two games they played last year. Hudsonville wins the
regular season game thirty five to six. The pre district
game it's twenty five to twenty three. East Kentwood is coming,
you guys. They are, and defensively they're shutting teams down.
So is this the time that Ty Spencer takes that

(28:32):
next step and gets a share of the Okay Reds.
I know I would not be surprised. Hudsonville's played a
lot of big games. Can they keep bringing the emotion
every week? I wouldn't be surprised to see eas Kentwood here.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
You mentioned the minus seventeen yards rushing on seventeen carries.
I'll add in their three sacks, six tackles for loss
and guys. The one thing and Buck and I kept
checking our roster during the broadcast because Luke brod Nicky
is there. He's fantastic, big number eighty four junior defensive
line and got his paw up. So that's something that
Kate Kaufman's gonna have to try to figure out. Which
Buck and I think in seeing him live, he's better

(29:07):
almost when he just rolls out and is on the
run throwing as well as he's a threat to take
it to the house like he did against Rockford. They
added though Eli Denhoff, we had not seen him. He
did not play in the Byron Center game. Guy, this
is a mass of humanity. He goes about six' five
What buck probably twoint eighty and he's playing in the
nose guard rotating. In you throw him in With Ryan
ackaman on the other. Side that defensive FRONT i think

(29:30):
is the best and they're proving it the best in the,
area maybe one of the best in the, state and
that to me is going to be this key if
they can get any pressure On Kid kaufman where he
has to feel a little bit like he's rushed a little.
Bit daniels did in that, certainly and again he had
a bad. ANKLE i understand. That THAT i think is
going to be the. Key If east Kent wood can
avoid that and make those big guys run sideline the

(29:53):
sideline constantly with their passing, game which they can do
and have big, plays this is gonna be just an
unbelievable football. Game BUT i think that's the. Key up,
Front rockford didn't really have an. Answer Thus hudsonville was
up twenty eight to.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Nothing jay at half they were and then Boy rock
for me to run at, him but they held him.
Off that's credit to The hudsonville that. Is it's gonna be.
Fantastic it.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Is so let's go to my, game which is the
last game of our four, pack, Guys East Grand rapids
at Thorn Apple. Kellogg how ABOUT tk getting some love.
Boy they have been. Impressive both teams coming in at
four and, two and this is a monster game AT.
TK i, like, THOUGH i gotta be, honest as well
AS tk is playing, DEFENSIVELY i just Like East Grand rapids.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Sound they keep getting. Better you've alluded to, It, Jay
i'll go to you.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
First they have one of the best defenses out, there
along With Catholic central and some of the other Ones
hudsonville that we're talking about in the.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Area this defensive line is just on another. LEVEL i,
mean you've got you've Got grant Ad, loff who's already
Got western And tiledo offers that was before the. SEASON i,
mean these offers are going to keep coming in because
he's just he's just man handling the offensive. Line and
you've Got Zach caswell on the other defensive. END i,
mean when you've got defensive ends like, that it's just
so hard and then the linebackers just get to roam.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Freely you. Know, yeah it's similar to What hudsonville.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
Does Kayden goosen's and Er ghosn's excuse, me And Brody
marlow and those. GUYS i Mean Tyler blake in. THERE i,
mean this defense for These grumps is, legit and you can, say,
Well David Holland christian last week forty one twenty. One,
okay Halland christian's first touchdown came on a kick. Return
they're only touchdown in the first three. Quarters they had
two first downs the entire first, half and they didn't
get one until we're seventeen seconds to go in the second.
QUARTER i, mean This East Gun rapids defense is. Dominant,

(31:24):
okay BUT, TK i, mean Give jeff doc a. Lot
this is a good football. Team, NOW i am a
little worried they pulled out. THAT i, mean the ending
to that game Against northview was just. Insane last week
they won the game at overtime thirty seven. Thirty BUT
i am a little worried Because Malachie venning and left
their outstanding slot, back wing back whatever you want to call,
him also starts At corny with all conference last years a.
Junior he Left hubble off the field and the last

(31:46):
play of the third quarter did not return for fourth quarter.
Overtime like they're gonna Need Malachie vanning Against Eat Gun
rapids AND i don't know his. Status so that's one
thing to. Watch But Micah dock at, Quarterback Deebo robinson
running the FOOTBALL i really like THIS tk, team and
this is you, know probably not getting to a playoff
to a conference championship Unless Klex central gets.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Beat these two teams are.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Billion momentum for THE d three playffs where they might
see each other.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Again.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
EXACTLY i was just going to say they're two playoff
team city right, Now let's go to You Tom kendra.

Speaker 9 (32:11):
Next, Yeah jay just, says you, know this is one
of those games in week seven that it looks like
they probably are both going to get in the playoffs
from WHAT i see with the remaining, schedule and this
could be one of two. Meetings But East Grand rapids
nine in all all time AGAINST. Tk but one of
the great stories really Is Thornapple kellogg this. YEAR i
love The you, Know Micah, dock the junior, quarterback his

(32:32):
dad is the, coach and then of course his, Grandpa
denny doc is helping out. THERE i got to Know.
Denny he's the all time winning s softball coach In
Michigan state history For Stevens Phil, lakes who are still
coaching their eight state. Titles AND i remember talking to
him down At Michigan state and he was saying how
much he enjoyed helping out his son At Thorn Apple
kellogg and that's when they were just building the program

(32:54):
and now they're having a breakthrough. Year so that's a
great story In.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Middleville and, finally Buck o Your East Groundppen's, pioneers you've
covered for so many, years here COMES.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Egr, well a lot.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
Of people were kind of down ON egr after they
lost To. Roll it was a very convincing, loss and
people were kind of, Wondering, okay you know what's got
what's going on With Josh shannick's who are they just
kind of are they just a shell of what they
used to be under Coach George barceski And Dastursa and this,
year yes they are foreign, too but they've gone back

(33:25):
to the roots AND i took them a little bit of,
time but they've gone back to the, roots which is
bone crunching defense and then power run, game AND i
think that's going to be the. Key middleville hasn't played
a team that is basically just going to punch you
in the face for four. Quarters there a, Few, yes
they're very, talented but they've got weapons on the. Outside
they're not a ground and counting by. Nature Brian ashnack

(33:49):
is a really good job of sprunting the ball around
and AND tk did a really good job of countering.
That and they have played defensive struggles AGAINST cc when
they lost ten, nothing they won their seven to thirty
and overtime against the nursery. TEAM i, MEAN tk has
been able to do all of, it and it's a
big part of their schedule because their schedule IS Cc

(34:10):
nursview this game and then they got Aland christian next
week when They Okay. BLACK i think it's probably When
tom said about the most improved divisions on The, WEST
i think The Okay black pound for pound is probably
the most improved division in The Okay conference because every
one of those teams except For Outawa hills has a winning.
Record that's just a tremendous improvement over what we saw last.

(34:32):
Year and this is gonna be a big game for
both teams because now he's grand, rafted they've got kind
of through that gauntlet AND pk has got one more
game after. This they want to be in the driver's
seat because playoffs are, coming and that went Over nurtsy
is huge to get them some. Points but five and
four will be Always. Dicey so they've got. Us they'll

(34:53):
get a win somewhere in here in the next three
weeks and maybe get a Couple and this is going
to be a big game, because as you men, now
they're down one of their best. Players how do they?
React how do they come on through? This but right
now a storybook season FOR tk because it's been a
very long, TIME i think probably since the days that
when they had to Play Kevin grady in the. Playoffs
this is the last time they've really had this kind of.

(35:15):
Buzz that was twenty plus years. Ago so congrats To
jeff To akut's. TROJANS i, think you, know Coach shattick
has got THE egr team back to where they need
to be. Too so who'd have known that we've been
talking about this game in week seven when we started
talking about games to cover In.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
August well, done.

(36:24):

tied to. Top they're perfect six And oh With central Mal,
com who they face On friday. Night, coach welcome into
the show and congratulations on a great season so.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
Far thank you glad to be.

Speaker 6 (36:37):
Here.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Coach so tell us about your team this. Season obviously
six And Oh star you're playing for a conference championship
This friday At CenTra Molt. Colm it looks like defensively
you guys have been really. Good just kind of tell
us about this team and what's led to your.

Speaker 10 (36:48):
Success, YEAH i think that this year we're very senior,
driven senior. Led we have sixteen seniors on the, team
so that definitely helps at returners on the defensive side
of the. Ball and you, know just being another, year we,
have LIKE i want to, say three guys have been
starting on defense since sophomore, year so definitely a, big

(37:12):
big help on the defensive. End.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
There what is a coach About Kent city that's so?
SPECIAL i love that, Community jay AND i we've spent
a lot of time covering whether it's girls, basketball boys,
basketball the football team with Coach green before he moved
on to. Superintendent and then you guys get the beautiful.
Facility but they just support and it's a great community set,
up small town of high school. Sports it's like the perfect,

(37:34):
picture if you, will the perfect, movie and you guys
obviously go out and show that Every friday night with your.

Speaker 10 (37:40):
Performances, YEAH i think you said it.

Speaker 7 (37:44):
Best we're a small, community but you, know our community
is behind us and all, athletics AND i think that's
what is so special about this. Place you, know everybody
in the community and the community is always showing support
and for all of our, programs and it's it's great
to see On friday nights that we travel well and

(38:06):
it's just awesome to see so many passionate fans out
there for our small.

Speaker 5 (38:12):
School so let's talk ABOUT i want to ask you
about your quarterback a little. Bit Andre mead looks like
a really good player. OBVIOUSLY i, mean you guys have
three shutouts here in your last four, games but offensively
out of your te. Offense just tell us What Andre
mead means this team and just how good of a
player he.

Speaker 7 (38:27):
Is, Yeah so he's just a great, leader commands the
huddle and does really well for us with his, legs
and he's got a great. ARM i know that we
haven't shown it much throughout the season because you know
our staples doing the, run but he's got a, strong
commanded a, handle very, athletic and there's a big threat

(38:49):
to run whenever we need him to do. That you,
know early on in the, season whenever we needed a big,
run we'd try to get him out on the edge
and he'd done. So and he's been doing really good
job on defense for us. Too you, know it's hard
to mess. Him he's a huge guy out there and
he's really good, defensively so you, know teams tend to
try to run away from, him but he's definitely a playmaker.

Speaker 6 (39:08):
For sure for.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
Us, right imagine a six, three two thirty playing quarterback
in A d six school A Kent. City pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Site, well and, COACH i want to ask you about
that because it is a matter of playing to your
players as well as what your philosophy, is, Right and
you know we've talked about this With John schilitou And
Zeeland west and other Teams, Belding Monty price that have
been successful where, yeah you've got your, dynamic you want
to run the. Football offensive line plays, important but at
the same, time you, know when you play the better

(39:35):
teams in your division and then you move on to the,
playoffs it's sort of like what else can we do
with this the flexibility part of. That share with us
your offensive philosophy and kind of how you developed that
as you go through the.

Speaker 7 (39:45):
Season, Yeah SO i mean we you, know we have
our bread and butter with being tight, tea but we've
also been playing with some different formational licks and we
have a really good center this year, Too so we've
done a little bit of shotgun as well this year
what we ran a few years. Ago so just being
able to put some different wrinkles out there that we

(40:07):
can get our playmakers out in space and just be
able to have an advantage in that.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
Standpoint we're talking About Kent city fourth year head Coach Zach.
Gropp he's twenty six and ten is his tenure with The.
Eagles let him to the playoffs in each of his
first three, seasons and they're on their way to their
fourth or the six and zero starts of the. Season
big Game friday, Night, coach you go To central mo Dot. Com,
obviously you guys are both three and ohero in The
Central States Activities, association and last year you played them,
twice you lost to him. TWICE i would call you

(40:34):
a little bit of a favor going to this. Game
tell us about this game and just how important it
is for you guys to Beat Central malcom and win
a conference.

Speaker 7 (40:40):
Championship, YEAH i, mean you, know we won conference my
first two seasons as a head, coach and then obviously
last year they got. Us you, know they had a
really strong team last year and they had a strong
team this. Year SO i think it's just going to
be another huge battle in the trenches again this. Year
and you know it's a big. Game the good we're.

(41:00):
Good it's five and five and one against six and,
zero AND i think it's going to be a huge
game and playoff atmosphere this This.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Friday speaking of that, coach we'll let the cat of
the bag and make the announcement. Here week, eight The
Lake Shore game of The, Week tom And jason are
coming your way as you take On Tri. COUNTY i
know that's a bit of a rivalry within THE, csa
a different divisions there of, course but the way that
you've put this schedule, TOGETHER i, mean nice wins already
over Govin, heights who's five and. One heart's a good

(41:28):
team that we follow in The West Michigan conference at
three and, three and then you've got you, Know central
Malt call And Trient county coming up before the.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Playoffs you have.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
To feel that you're going to be kind of tested
going into the playoffs offensively and, defensively maybe more than
in years.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
Past, yeah it's been a really good schedule this. Year you,
know you definitely want to have some of those close
games leading into the playoffs to try to get some of,
that you, know playoff, atmosphere and you, KNOW i really
think these next two games are going to be that.
Way we're going to be tested for, sure and you

(42:01):
got to figure out how to overcome some of those
adversities when it happens in the. Game you, know we
had to do that Against heart a few weeks. Ago
we put the ball on the ground a few times
and really had to rely on our defense to get
some stops and come away with the. Win so it's
just been a really good test throughout the year and
hopefully we keep things.

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Rolling, COACH i want to ask you a little bit
About bill Green brett AND i got a chance to
get to know him when he was the head coach
At Kent city and what a job he did because
he really turned this program. AROUND i, mean you guys
are already clinched at least your tenth straight winning, season
which not that long ago was was not that common
At Kent. City and we got to Know bill and
we really like. Him and now he's a superintendent and

(42:42):
you coached under. Him just what kind of influence did
he have on you and your coaching style now as
you're the head.

Speaker 7 (42:47):
COACH i really think it's just been his leadership and
being able to connect with the, players with the community
and really just changing the culture of bringing that winning
culture and that in that aggressive. Atmosphere AND i think
we really got the weight room program going with him
as well and the importance of. That and you, KNOW

(43:09):
i just think just being a strong leader and really
really getting down to relationships with the. Players you, know
they buy in to the relationships or a small community
and kids love playing football, Here.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
ZACH i love how coaches break things down and, Compartmentalized
like in the, season you got the first three weeks
and the middle three weeks you just, finished and now
the last three weeks of the regular season you get
ready for the. Playoffs and they're always never one hundred percent.
Satisfied so with that, said let me ask you if
there's this one thing that you'd like to do better
all three phases one thing and, say you know, what
we got to be better at this guy's come playoff.

(43:46):
Time what would it be for this edition of The.

Speaker 7 (43:48):
EAGLES i think just consistency of doing the little things.
Correct you, know there's always little things you can nitfit
here and.

Speaker 6 (43:57):
There you, know we.

Speaker 7 (43:58):
Had some turnovers early, season SO i think we're starting
to get that down and just cleaning up some tackling
a little bit, defensively AND i think that can go
a long ways for us as we head down to.

Speaker 5 (44:12):
The stretch here and just to narrow that a little
more in this Game friday night Against Central mont com
what's the biggest key for you guys to come out on.

Speaker 7 (44:18):
Top, YEAH i think we got to control the, football
control line of scrimmage up, front and we got to
eliminate big plays on the defensive. End.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
Coach, lastly BEFORE i let you, go thank you so
much for the time and best of luck against The
hornets coming up On friday night at their. Place we'll
see in a couple of weeks with the game of
the week as far as one oh seven m us the.
Moves but you mentioned Senior, layton go ahead and identify
some of those seniors offense and defense that have stepped
up for you and why they're so special The Kent.

Speaker 8 (44:49):
City i'll start with our senior captains With Andre, Mead Logan,
Thompson Trevor rawson And Logan dais and they've really been
huge for us this year as far as keeping our
players heads up and into the.

Speaker 7 (45:05):
Game you, know those those four players are are two
way starters for. Us and then you Got Harrison, Smith Sammy,
Anderson Jayden danison on the. LINE i, mean we got
a bunch of guys That i've been.

Speaker 6 (45:19):
TOGETHER i just love playing.

Speaker 7 (45:21):
Football and you KNOW i can go on and on
and name all of our. Seniors, REALLY i think they
all have different different traits and things to bring to the.
Table whereas it's a very team effort Every friday night
and even throughout, practices which is awesome to.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
See there are perfect, six no overall three and no
tied With Central Mont kong with they'll face tomorrow night
on the, road two teams atop THE CSA A Silver.
Division Zach gropp is his name in his fourth season

Lake Michigan crediting at fifty dollars a. Touchdown we had

Speaker 5 (46:39):
Aweso we're just going to keep adding to, it so
no DOUBT i think we're going to break last years trec.

Speaker 7 (46:42):
That it's.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
Awesome all, right let's go into our top ten.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Rankings i'll go first this week and then we've got
our Updown cheapskate players of The week to get two as.
Well four week, Seven jay saw him again with my own.
Eyes hudsonville been since week. One they are the real.
Deal at, Six no stays my number one, Team they've
been there since the. Preseason Unity christian at, Six oh
is my number two. Team Ported central at six and
oh moves up to number three That i've Got. Rockford

(47:05):
good second half for. Them against a Tough hudsonville team
four and two is Four East kentwood. Five they'll get
their shot at The eagles this. Week grandville at four
and two is, Six muskegan number seven at four and.
Two Then Catholic, central another unbeaten team of the, area
number eight at six and, oh followed By luddington for
the first, time hopping into the top. Ten they're at
number nine at. Six, no The orioles with that big

(47:27):
game With, whitehall and Then Kenowa hills at ten at
five and, one and of Course Kennowa hills are game
of The week At coopersville in A River City's alliance
matchup On friday.

Speaker 5 (47:36):
Night, YEAH i guess my question for you is who
do we rank and where do we draw the? Line,
Right like you Brought port At central in a few weeks,
ago AND i, thought, oh, Yeah brot's gonna Report central
and so AM.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
I so they're in my top. Ten now now you
bring In.

Speaker 5 (47:46):
Luddington lunington's obviously very deserving and really really, good AND
i can't wait to see some of these postseason matchups
and really the game against White hall tomorrow. Night but
Like i'm thinking about schools Like Big, Rapids, like we'll
See Big rapids at six and oh and just killing,
people and we'll see them Against luttington very early in the.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
Playoffs what About.

Speaker 5 (48:00):
Portland portland's ANOTHER d four team that's six and zero
that really hasn't been. TESTING i, mean they've been an
olivette team that's that's only lost by thirty.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
FIVE i say they're all fair game if they cross
over and play teams from our, area because that helps.
ME i don't know about you as far as gauging them.

Speaker 5 (48:15):
Well in port Of, central It's porterage northern of Myrow.
Night remember that's a big, rivalry and Portis orlands running
a single wing Like Portage central has. NOT i, mean
they've give ten points in six, games but how will
they do against the single? Wing it's fascinating fun to
see so much Fun Big.

Speaker 1 (48:28):
Rapids by the, way to that point is another. One
i'm glad you threw in that, question Because Big rapids
is starting to play more teams from down, here Like.
Coopersville they've got a big showdown WITH i think of week. Eight, yeah,
yeah so it's, fun all. Right my top, Ten hudsonville
stays number. One Listen i'm gonna Keep rockford. Two AND
i realize that people don't like this and it's not
something you would do. Right there's this feeling in ranking,
teams AND i think it comes from years of college.

(48:50):
Football it's, like if you, lose you have to. DROP i,
MEAN i Had hudsonville won In rockford, two and THEN i.
Did it wasn't at the, game but based on WHAT
i could, see that's WHAT i would expect between number
one and number. TWO i, Mean hutsonville needed a night
nine yard drive and the greatest catch you're ever going
to see to win by. Seven to, me that's one and.
Two that's kind of the way it played. Out SO
i don't know WHY i have to change. That i'm
Not miskegan's. THREE i, MEAN i know you haven't had
a chance to see him in. Person i've seen him in.

(49:10):
TWICE i promise.

Speaker 5 (49:11):
You you'd be a believer if you saw him in person
on pressure really going To shores Winning Sailor, stadium and
it wasn't as close as the final. Score So miskegan's,
Three East kent would. Four you could certainly make an
argument That East kentwood could be, three and who knows
if they Beat Hudson bill tomorrow, night maybe make an
argument their number. ONE i have Played central, Five, Unity christian.
Six grandville's the one that's still tricky for me Because
Tink terry's not.

Speaker 2 (49:31):
PLAYING i have them.

Speaker 5 (49:32):
Seven nice win to go To jennison and win on
a late touchdown pet reception FROM Dj Hardman Byron. CENTER
i have in at. Eight i'm just sorry their losses
are to my number, one my number, three and number four,
teams and they Beat Mona shorses in. Overtime they're starting
to roll. Now they're definitely gonna be the. PLAYOFFS i
Think granded It's Catholic central. Nine jobody's just kind of
really talking about. Them just maybe THE i Know hudson
of those defense is really. Good East grampa's defense areally.
Good that might be the best defense in the. AREA i,

(49:52):
mean they are really good on that side of the.
Football AND i brought The Scun rapids into the top.
TEN i know they got smoked By lowell in week
one and they have the same record As. LOLL i
just feel LIKE i have and seen a team improve
from week one to week six in a long, time
Like East grun Rapts.

Speaker 2 (50:04):
HEA i Like East Grand.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
Rapids keep an eye and then that big matchup AT
tk coming up tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (50:09):

just talked about how they smoked these scrun rappins In week.
One there were four and one going into that, game and,
Boy London hampton really good For Kenroy Hills.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
I'm gonna go with the GUY i saw with my
own eyes now twice this, season but he was so
impressive in that win At. Rockford brady Fan, lake the
senior quarterback For, huttsonville eleven of, thirteen two hundred and
thirty nine yards passing two, touchdowns seventeen, carries eighty five
yards two more. Touchdowns of, course the great catch in
the back of the end. Zone he threw it up
For laws And weber to go get. It everyone's probably

(51:10):
