Speaker 1 (00:00):
They motion purchase now sending him back play bake fist
fires across the middle. Touchdown has this man on a
little crossing route. Jack Dahn holds it in in traffick
this with a bullet deer in South Christian on the board.
Fourteen to six hand off from left to right, cutting
off Campaign us all more off to the races. Twenty
fifty ten touchdown. He saw senior brother do what he said.
(00:24):
I can do it too. Campaign takes it from forty
two yards out and the Bulldogs extend their lead.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's almost game night, West Michigan. Time to hear from

I know we say this every year, Javed, it's hard
to believe as we welcome you into a week eight
edition of the LMCU High School Football Preview exclusively here
on ninety six won the game, but two weeks away
from selection Sunday, here we go to end the regular season.

shares already, but they're going for complete championships. And let's
dive right into our first Montel Construction Coaches Corner, brought
(01:45):
to you by my friends at Montel. You can still
have them and be a part of Team Montel for
twenty twenty five. Go to Montel Construction dot com. What
we happen is our game of the week in the
OK Black Division tomorrow night, the unbeaten Catholic Central Cougars
at Evan and oh taking on Northfield coming in at
five and two and they're head coach Tom Colster joins
us right now. Coach, good to catch up with you.
(02:07):
Congratulations and how about these Cougars. And I know you
always pride yourself on defense and offensive line playing running
the football, but this defense, coach, this year has been tremendous.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, you know, we've really the guys have really done
a good job. And the funny thing is is we're
we're getting on our guys because we think we're not
playing near as well as we should, you know. But yeah, no,
it's been a big part of our program, you know,
certainly since I've been here, and I think well before
I was here too. But but playing good defense, I
(02:39):
think is ultimately how you have to be successful.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
How has your team improved throughout the season as you
continue seven and oh, you're undefeated, you haven't given up
many points. But are you seeing the progress from week
to week that you hope to see as you move
towards the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
That I hope to see, or that that we're seeing. No,
I think certainly we've improved, there's no question about it.
But I think the big thing is trying to improve
each day in practice, Like practice habits are so critical
and I think we all know that, and sometimes people
think it's too much of a cliche, but I really
(03:15):
think practice habits are what your foundation is built on.
So when you're in the tough moments on Friday nights,
you can rely on what you've done in practice. You
can rely on that foundation. And so you know, that's
the thing we talk about with our kids all the time,
is like, as coaches, it's not our job to necessarily
prepare you for the easy stuff. It's to prepare you
(03:36):
to be at your best in the absolute toughest moments.
And so that's one of the things that we talk
a lot about in terms of how we practice.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Coach. We always love your schedule.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I know, usually start with out of state teams and
then you can get a non conference game either like
a Jackson Lum and Christie. Great matchup this year for
you guys. But I never have asked you, I think
since the realignment, how do you like the new OK
Black Division. I mean, I look at it from an
East Grand Rapid, a Catholic central standpoint, and I'm going
back to the eighties when I was a kid. I
love the fact you guys play a gr I love
(04:05):
the fact you play Norview, you got Middleville in the mix.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
That gave you a heck of a game. I mean,
your thoughts on this division.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
No, I think the division this year is certainly pretty strong,
you know. And I mean again, throw Holland Christian in there,
and and and they're they're pretty strong. And so yeah,
play in Eastern Rappids playing Northview, you know, those are
really good teams and you know, and so yeah, I
(04:33):
like that part of it. I really don't like the
fact that we only play five league games. I don't.
I don't like that one. Trying to find four games
for us is you know, you mentioned we play out
of state a lot, and that's not necessarily my preference.
That's just what ends up happening, you know, trying to
find games and so on. I think they're the playoff
(04:57):
points and some of those things are really what present
the biggest challenges. Certainly, I think people have may have
some skepticism because of being a private school, and some
of that that's increased certainly in West Michigan over the years.
But more so than anything else, I think the playoff
point system and you know, if I'm a bigger school,
(05:17):
if I'm a Division one or Division two school. Am
I going to schedule a Division five school? Absolutely not.
Not from a playoff point perspective, it could potentially cost
you a home playoff team. So I think that's wrong.
I think that system, how we've got it set up
as wrong and causes more problems than anything else. And
then compound it with a five game locked in schedule only,
(05:38):
that's really problematic, and I think they're you know, there
really needs to be a hard look at that. I
don't I don't mind the football separate conferences. I like
our conference because I like the teams, and our coaches
are good guys, and they're good coaches. I like all
of that. I just wish we'd have more teams in
our conference and not have to find so many out
(06:00):
league games in the weeks are difficult Week three, Week nine,
those they're challenging ty culture.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
The head coach grandup, it's Catholic central joining us in
the Montel construction coaches corner. So coach on that, let's
get back to talking about the playoff points and scheduling
non conference games. What do you think is the solution?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Is it just do it?
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Seems like everybody feels like we just need to go
where everybody gets in and Week nine now becomes a
playoff week. Is that kind of where you're at with it?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Well, I mean, the traditionalists in me still likes some
sort of minimum qualification to get in because I think
that's that's one of the things that makes football special
and makes it great. Football has. I mean, you know,
it is football better than any sport, No, it's but
it's more unique, and it's more unique than the fact
that you have to practice and prepare all offseason, all summer,
(06:50):
all during the week, and you play one game a week.
You know, look at all the other sports that play
so many games per week, and then they have travel
sports in those sports up and those travel sports are
designed to play games, to play games, to play games.
Football doesn't have that, and you can't replicate football out
of the season. So you know, so that's why I
(07:10):
think football is so unique. But I also think there
should be some minimum qualification for that. I think preparation
and hard work and all those things matter. What that
exactly looks like. You know, there's probably a few different
scenarios you could come up with, but you know, I
know there's been a lot of talk about let everybody
in and have a week nine and stuff. I mean,
(07:31):
I don't even know why we couldn't let everybody in
then and have ten games, you know. I mean, if
you look at some of the others aren't bordering states,
that's what they do. Ohio starts two weeks ahead of US.
Indiana Illinois start a week ahead of US. So I'm
not sure why we couldn't do that as well.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Ton, do you look at this matchup?
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Northview came to your place one twelve to three in
a hard fought game last year. They go on to
a perfect nine to zero regular season and they win
the Okay, Black, you're in a similar situation. Rules at first,
you have to go to Northiew and I think it
would be without saying, as all coaches, we love to
ask this question to get to Week eight, how's the
healthier football team? We talked about how young they are
and they've grown up a little bit, But how's the
healthier football team going up against a team like the Wildcats?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
You know, I think our health is as good as
it's going to be in Week eight. You know, everybody's
little beating up. You know, we have one young man
that that's that's really been struggling here last week and
this week, and you know that impacts us. But but no,
I mean I think it's fine. I don't think it's
(08:37):
certainly not a factor for us, you know, any different
than what Northews probably is. So that that the nice
thing is that's that's really not a concern. We've been
lucky where you know, we've had we definitely have had
some guys out. Unfortunately they're out for longer than this
week and and beyond, so you know, we're we're not
(08:58):
getting them back. So the guys we got are the
guys that got And so that's a big thing is
just continue to try and get those guys better and
more experienced.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
So when you look at north View, what jumps out
to you? What do you have to do to have
success against them?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
I think the big thing is like they're they're really
explosive on offense, I mean really explosive. I mean the
kids that they've got their tailback, they're a couple of receivers.
They've got three really good receivers, I think, and they've
got a heck of a tight end. I think that
kid is so underrated. I think, you know, the quarterback,
they're running back a couple of their speed guys on
the outside of receiver get so much attention and so
(09:32):
much notice. But if he actually wants to take who
they rely on when they need a big time play
and all that kind of stuff in their tight games,
they've gone to their tight end and and he's done
a really nice job. And so I think that them
being that explosive, I mean, they're they're they're really challenging.
You know, it's hard to keep teams like that with
that many guys that can make big plays to try
(09:53):
and to try and hold them to no big plays
is next to them possible. So that's that's one of
the big things that we're talking. And obviously defensively, man,
I think I think they're I think they're really good
up front. I mean, like they're front seven. I said this, Jason,
I think before I think East Grant Abas is one
of the best front defensive front sevens that I've seen
(10:14):
in a while. And uh and I think Northews is
right there too. They're very very good. I mean, not
a lot of people are scoring, not a lot of
people can run the ball against them. They've got an
inside linebacker. That's act of a player. They've got some
really good, tough, just tough kids up front, you know,
and so you know that's that's going to be a
tough thing for us to manage. And then they do
(10:34):
some some odd ball things on special teams that you
got to be prepared for and stuff. So they certainly
stress you in the three areas of the game, that's for.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Sure, Todd.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Who have you been impressed with on your team roster
wise that maybe has taken a step or two. We
talked about the youth that you had a year ago,
but those guys play and that's how you get experienced
and grow up. Who have you been impressed with on
either side of the football that has really made you
guys seven to Z at this point, Well, I.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Think it's really been you know, a lot of our
juniors that mate last year were juniors. Certainly we had
a lot of freshmen play, and I think those guys
have greatly improved this year as sophomores. But I think
a lot of our guys that were juniors a year
ago now that have stepped into seniors, you know, have
really played well. I mean, and again, if you obvious
(11:24):
is a Braden Sweeney, right, I think he's one of
the best players in the state of Michigan. So that's obvious,
and he's and he's not disappointed at all. He's been outstanding.
But I mean, when you start talking about people like
Keith Chandernoah who's a defensive back, when you start talking
about Dale Gant, who's played defensive back and running back,
when you talk about Kamal Hillard who's a tailback, and
(11:44):
some of the things and some of the explosive plays
he's made have been great. Andy Jacob has been outstanding
as a senior, a guy who didn't play much as
a sophomore and a junior. And is you know, dang
Near starting both ways for us on special teams. You know,
some of those guys have done a really nice job.
I think. You know, we've had some linemen, you know,
(12:05):
Tommy Freeman who's playing center, who who's played tackle, he's
played guard, he's playing center for us now play some
defensive line. And then i'd say a Mere Pratt. A
Mere Pratt's a senior and those guard plays some on
the offensive side of the ball a little bit as well.
But those guys have really done a great job. And then,
(12:26):
like I said, some of our other guys have stepped up.
Some of our freshmen from a year ago that are
now sophomores that are playing. I think they're doing better
and better. We have a freshman offensive line I think
gotten better, so and so, and we've just gotten a
couple of guys back off of injury last week and
so on, and so those guys now start they're starting
(12:48):
to get better as well. So it's we just got
to keep going in that direction.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
There aren't many things you haven't done at at Catholic Central,
but one of the things you hadn't done before this
year was when the ok Black personal your second you're
in the league, but you check that one off because
you got at least to share with the win last
week and win it out right this week with the win.
Is that important for this team to get a conference
championship out right?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
I think so, to be honest with you, it's the
only goal we really have. We talk about like we
don't talk about the playoffs, we don't talk about you know,
state finals, we don't talk about those things. We talk
about our goal is to win the conference championship. And
if you win your conference championship, you're going to be
in the playoffs. Most likely you're gonna you know, you'll
have a pretty solid team. And certainly this year, if
(13:30):
you win your conference championship, you got a pretty good
team and you're going to be in the playoffs. And
so that's a goal. And you're right. We last year
was our first year in the OK Black and we
did not win it. And in this year, we've got
an opportunity to do that. And so yeah, I think
it's important to our guys.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
They are seven and l going to the big game
tomorrow nite. You can hear it live from Wildcat Country.
Ninety six won the game. Nor Few hosting grand Up.
It's Catholic Central Cougar's coming at seven to zero. Cougar's
head coach Todd colst to join us. Tom, thank you
so much. We're excited to see this bunch.
Speaker 7 (14:03):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
I appreciate it. Guys.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Going to the J and H Family Stores four pack.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
That's four games besides our Games of the Week, brought
to you by LMSU. Every Friday night, we welcome in
our two color analysts, Tom Kendra along the lake Shore.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
How are you, Tom?
Speaker 6 (14:39):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 1 (14:40):
And Buck Gino, who you know, joins me every Friday
night in the press box.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Buck?
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Ready to go?
Speaker 3 (14:46):
All right?
Speaker 1 (14:46):
We got some great games and let's start with this one.
Tom Kendra has Unity Christian in South Christian and South
Christian has kind of found some secret sauce there. We'll
get into that, Tom Kendra. But lo and behold you
look at it after a rough start? Are you one
in the okay?
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Goal?
Speaker 3 (15:01):
This is kind of for first.
Speaker 6 (15:02):
Place, right, Oh, no question about it. And you know,
Unity Christian. They're just doing what Craig Tibby teams do
every year. All they do is win seven and zero.
You know, the only close game they've had was that
fourteen to six win over Zealand West on Week six.
Senior quarterback Justin Phoebes kind of using all of his
different weapons. But we'll see what how good this Crusader's
(15:25):
team is. These next two week, South Christian this week
and then Pontiac Notre Dame next week. But yeah, you
mentioned it about South Christian, they were one in three.
They made the switch at quarterback. Danny Brown goes with
a sophomore, Brody Schiltz, and he's really energized from Their
offense is putting up tons of point. It's kind of funny.
I heard an interview with Danny Brown. He said, we've
(15:46):
done good with athletic quarterbacks and I was like, yeah,
no doubt. You know Jake de Han Kartz and Beth
who knows this. Brody Schiltz might be the next in
that long line. He's another great athlete. But South Christian,
they're four and three, really need one more win to
solidify a playoff slot in D four. But they play
undefeated Unity Christian this week and then undefeated Catholic Central
(16:09):
next week, so it'll be tough. But Sailors are starting
to roll.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Jason, I'll let you get more into the Brody shild story.
But I talked to Danny Brown this morning. He said
it's a feeld thing. It's not like they've abandoned Austin Burgess.
He still plays at quarterback. But he said you know,
we're trying to get as many athletes on the field
as we can and be explosive. We weren't explosive in
those early games, and they're scoring more points and Brody
Schiltz has been a big part of that.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
Jason, Yeah, Brody Schiltz is great, and I you know,
they bring him in there to run the football, you
could say, but I think he throws it pretty good
as well. But you know what's really is obviously the
quarterback position gets all the attention, but Isaac oaster Haven
was their starting running back last years a sophomore. I
thought he was really good. He goes out of the
Eastern Rapids game of the concussion. He misses the next
three weeks, so you know that was that three game
(16:52):
losing streak they didn't have Isaac oaster Haven. He's back
now he's making plays. You got Vandergrend who's really good.
They got kind of a group of runs back there
behind a young but good offensive line. Just how about
this matchup with Unity Christian, Like, does anybody remember the
playoffs last year when Unity Christian was undefeated and nobody
was going to beat him in Division four?
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Right?
Speaker 5 (17:12):
And Carson Viz they went in there and they beat
Uniti Christian the shock of the whole playoffs, Like, I
don't think NIS forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
But you know, here's the stat for you before I go,
because you and I saw Brody Schiltz as a defensive
back and how good he was with that pick six
against West Catholic back in week three before he made
the transition. But Danny Brown told me this morning, guys
never played quarterback, youth football, whatever, never played quarterback, and
they moved into that position.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Buck, you know your thoughts.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
Well, he certainly knows where they're supposed to fill it
as we saw this plus Catholic. But I think you're right, Brad.
I think and they haven't, like you said, they haven't
abandoned Austin Burgess, but they clearly needed a spark. And
really after we saw them, I mean, the offense was
pretty herky jerky. They were able to get some things done,
but you know, just sputtered it inopportune and times, and
(18:01):
you know, they really struggled to consistently produce points. And
I think when you're playing teams like Zeland West and
Unity Christian and even Forrest still Central to have it
down year but you know that you're going to have
to keep pace with them. Defensively, they knew they're going
to be young, and they really had to lean on,
(18:22):
you know, that offense to kind of hold the ball
and try to you know, play a little clock management,
and they just weren't able to do that. And so
now with the move also, it gives them another dimension.
Right like you said, they can always bring me in
austin vertus back to quarterback. That can give them another
dimension that teams that may have prepared for but maybe
not quite as much. And so it just creates doubt
(18:44):
in some of these defensive coordinators' minds. This is going
to be a test for South Christian and right Unity
Christian remembering what happened last year with Carson Bisk coming
in there and knocking them out of the playoffs after
a perfect regular season. This is a revenge game on
several different levels. Unity Christian feels like after last year
they thought they had a good team. This year, maybe
(19:04):
t wise not as good, but certainly the production is
there and they feel like they want to make another run.
And right now South Christian really the only people stopping
them from what's probably going to be another perfect regular season.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
All right, Buck, you know, catch your breath real quick,
so I'm coming right back at you. How about the
okay silver guys, Godwin Heights and Belding set up for
week nine. But before we get there, it's the battle
of Wyoming Gwain Height t Haes to get through Kelloggsville.
We know they're called the Rockets for a reason. They
can explode on you. But how cool was the win
for the Wolverines to get to six and one for
the first time.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
But you know since nineteen eighty nine.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Gustavo masa Rigos with the field goal thirty one thirty
they beat Fruitport.
Speaker 7 (19:45):
Yeah, well, you know Kelloggsville's going to take the long
bus ride to Gudenwre Height. This is this is a
neighborhood backyard brawl. I remember, I think I think the
first game I did with you, Bratt was Caluonville and
Godwin Height many moons ago, And I mean that was
just a dynamite dynamic because that's when Don Dalster was
(20:06):
coaching and the Rockets were kind of at their peak,
and Godwin Heights came in and you know they had
their swagger too. But it's kind of falling off and
recent prevented. You know, coleg Zille's kind of had some
tough times, but justin the Neett's come in, he's improved
the program. They're at five and two. They're headed into
the playoffs if they can just keep the sales forward.
(20:27):
But Godwin Heights, man, they've just had a storybook year
right now six and one. Nobody's predicted six and one
out of Godwin Heights. But right now these two teams
battling for what is going to be second place in
the Silver. Collegs went lost this week four. Now they
did have a fourfe it went in there, so they
did have week off, but they're on a roll. Both
(20:48):
these teams are at peak efficiency, running hard and this
is going to be a tremendous game. They could go
into Belding next week and maybe get a share of
the Okay Silver Crown and Godwin Heights. You know, they'll
be the first time in a long time that it'll
happen with Kelenville wins this one. Boy, they'll be six
and two and looking at maybe Lea said hosting a
(21:11):
playoff game, you.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Had me a rivalry. I mean, of all the things
I love about high school sports man rivalry is at
top of that list, and that's Godwin in Kville. I
mean that is where it's at. How about this they
twenty seventeen. Do they may remember that game? They were
both five and oher Kellgxville won twenty one twenty. Yeah,
like this is the best matchup in this series in
eight years. And of course Godwin is undefeated the ok
(21:34):
Silver and they played Belding in week nine, so Godwin
still controls its own destiny to win an outright conference championship.
And you know, I love martellis Forrest, their sophomore quarterback.
They've had a flair for the dramatic. They scored late
to beat Comstock Park earlier this year, then the field
goal in the last play to win last week. I mean,
you get in a close game with Godwin. They have
shown they know how to win these games. Tyson Allen
(21:54):
also All Conference last years, a junior Number two. Watch
him in the slot. He's a dangerous player. Speaking to
number two, I watched Kellegsville's game at Belding earlier in
there and sure Belding won the game forty four to fourteen.
But they're running single wing. They're snapping it mostly to
Keante Gibson number two, and he's really good. And they're
pretty good at this, Like they moved the ball in
that Belding game. Had a little trouble finishing drives in
(22:14):
the second half, but I'll tell you, I think it's
going to be a fantastic football.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
He's our Lake Shore Game of the weight color commentator
along with Jasonutt and bringing the action on Friday Night.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Let's go next to Tom Kendra.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Yeah, Brett. Two of the best turnaround stories in all
of West Michigan. I mean, Kelloggsville last year was one
in eight. Justin Dennett has them at five and two.
Godwin Heights was three and five and they're six and one.
But I just want to comment quickly on that god
Wins thirty one to thirty wins over Fruitport last week
my pick for the craziest game of the year. Starting
(22:46):
with the very first play of the game. Fruitport gets
the kickoff the kids running it back and he fumbles
the ball. Godwin Heights scoops it up and runs it
back into the end zone. One problem that was the
wrong zone and first play of the game is a
safety for Fruitport. They lead two to nothing, and it
looked like that was going to be the difference in
(23:07):
the game.
Speaker 8 (23:08):
But like Jay.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
Mentioned, Martellis Frost leads the Wolverines nine plays in one
to oh five to get for that game winning field goal.
So yeah, just a special season for both of these teams.
Should be a great game.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Brandon Kimpbell to the ad at Galwin Heights. I know
he's excited to talk to him a little bit this morning.
They're fired up and here we go. It's always fun,
like Jay said, when you get Gadwin Heights and Kelloggsville together.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Let's go next to Jason Hutton.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Jason, we just saw Coopersville in a thrilling loss, but
another great game at coop They always provide great games
against Kenew Hills, now Coopersville. They got a tough road
left and it starts non conference affair with Big Rapids
this week.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Well, I really like Big Rapids seven and zero, potentially
a playoff meeting with Luddington. They met in the first
round last year. Lightnington a Big Rapids did. That was
a Big Rapids win. Cole Heist. Their quarterback is just
outstanding defensively. Big Rapids has been great and now they
go to Coopersville. This is another revenge game because remember
last year Coopersville won the River City's Alliance just kind
of rolled up to Big Rapids like no big and
(24:08):
they lost that football game. So I want to ask you, guys,
Brebikeita Buck Geno, tell me about Champ Kelly, because I
listened to you call that game. It sounds like he
is really starting to play.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Well, well, I'll just go first, real quick, Buck, and
set the table for you. We were impressed, I thought,
with both quarterbacks. And the scary thing is you got
Champ Kelly, who's a freshman. He's got Merrman blood in
his veins and so he knows how to play the
quarterback position and he's ahead of himself. But you throw
him and Grayson Fellows and that was a fun football game.
Speaker 7 (24:34):
Buck, you're right, And I mean it's started off kind
of rocky for Coopersville. Didn't have much luck establishing the run,
and kind of like last week we saw Rockford struggle.
The two weeks ago saw Rockford and struggle to run.
I mean, both the offensive coordinators for both teams, Racford
and Coopersviil said hey, we could just throw the ball
and make yardage, and that's exactly what they did. They
(24:57):
went to champ Kelly and he's got a ton of
good receivers. Brooks hadn't who, you know, probably their most
heralded receiver. I think we called his name away a
couple of times because Kenniball Hill said, hey, we're not
going to let Brooks head and beat you, and Ed
Caman said, sweet, we got two other guys, all Van
Tie and Sam mcdiald that can catch.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
The ball just as well.
Speaker 7 (25:16):
And they almost pulled off the comeback, just couldn't hold
on there at the end. I liked Chance Kelly's game.
I like the way that he kind of grew up
in that game, and he really impressed me as a
fresh And we have a couple of kids, I know,
we talked about Kate Kaufman and Brayden Daniels and Braida
Van Lake as the seniors that are coming out, but boy,
there are a couple of younger players like cham Kelly
(25:38):
that are just coming up through the varsity ranks and
they are going to be kids to watch. I really
liked his game. I think for Big Rapids, the biggest
thing for them that's going to be They're going to
be much more physical. And I'm not saying that Kenni
Will wasn't physical. They definitely were a big draft. It's
just brings the pain every week and they are just physical,
and you just wonder about Coopers though. We so kind
(26:00):
of kind of dominate in that fourth quarter started to
wear on Cooper Zill little because they had to come
back from twenty one down. That's kind of what I'm
concerned about for Coopers Will if they can find a
way to spread the field and really do a good
job of getting Big Rapids going sideline the sideline and
not try to you know, go Hammer and Tonginson between
the tackles who were all found some things last week
(26:21):
that worked really well. So big rafts are going to
have to be ready for that pass game because you
know they're going to go to it, especially after the
week at Kelly.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Had Tom Kendra, I know you've got some extra insight
on this Big Rapids team.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
Yes, I was up there writing a story on the
Cardinals for the MHSAA a couple of weeks ago, and
Mike Selzer does a great job there. He's in his
eleventh year. This is I think, without a doubt his
best team and definitely his most experienced team. Check this out,
Big rap It starts eleven seniors on offense nineteen years
on defense. Wow, so they're very experienced, he told me.
(26:56):
You know, he's really just fine tuning things week to week.
But ironically their best player is a junior, Max Bowman
six one two thirty defensive end. Also comes in at
tight end on offense, but he already has an offer
from CMU. Just a disruptive force, and like Jason said,
Big Raft is on a collision course in D four
(27:18):
with Lovington. That should be an outstanding matchup, just like
this week's game.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
I'm hoping for a Saturday game for that so I
can go see it because we'll have a game to
cover on Friday night. But you're right, that is going
to be an unbelievable matchup if it happens again two
weeks away from the start of the MHSA football playoffs,
It's going to be a lot of fun both on
one oh seven m us the Moose and on ninety
six to one the game. All right, guys, I will
wrap things up with our four pack with as I
(27:43):
looked at the games and Jay said it and there
aren't a lot of these marquee matchups like we've had
maybe the last two weeks to highlight, but this one
is big for both teams. Forestill's Northern at Byron Center
in the Okay Green And I want to give a
little love to Mark Cisco and the Bulldogs. I don't
know how Easton Whitchers is pulling this off, but you
know what, he's a senior quarterback, want to play in
his final year, had a great game last week and
(28:05):
he's just playing well on basically you know, maybe half
a leg forty two to seven over Reese Puffer. He
was sixteen of twenty four, one hundred ninety four yards
and three touchdowns. And the reason I say the Bulldogs,
as you know, is more than just Easton Whitchers without
even mentioning campaign Chase.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Schwartz, Tate Bainbridge, Hunter Polowski.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
I mean, they just got guys that just they fit
them into wherever they need. And Jay, I'll start with
you on that to build on it. But you were
on the Bulldogs. You've always said, hey, they had the
toughest schedule at the start of the year, which they did.
But I'm just really impressed with what they're doing.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
Yeah, I love teams that play tough schedules. And I
realize you don't always have a choice when you've had
as much success as Byron Center.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
You know, you don't.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Basically, you're just kind of stuck playing the best teams.
But I think it makes it better if you can
survive it, right, if you can stay healthy enough. And
I don't know how healthy Byron Center is, but they've
come through this. You know, that went over Mona Shores
in double overtime, and now they've won three in a row,
and I just I feel like they're a team to
look out for in Division two. I realized that Miskegon
put it to them pretty good, and they may end
(29:06):
up having to play Miskegan in the playoffs, and they
may end up having to play four to Central in
the playoffs. But I tell you what, Byron Center is
so well coached, and I think we're seeing that, and
you look at this, I think they're in the playoffs already.
I mean, even if they were to lose the last
two games, I still think they're going to get in
because the amount of playoff points they have. Forestills Northern,
on the other hand, they need to win out. I mean,
one more loss and they are going to be eliminated
(29:26):
and that would be tough to swallow for a team
that's that senior. Late, I think this is gonna be
a good football game.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
All right.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
So I love the Bulldogs of BC right live there.
My kids go there. So I got to go to
bucc Gino next because we're against each other and this one.
His kids go to Forestills Northern the Huskies, but we've
also seen them Bucket obviously. Jason and Tom had their
game last week against Warner Shores. Your thoughts on this matchup?
Speaker 7 (29:46):
Yeah, I mean we talk Aboutron turn only one, and
we know that they played a very good Hudsonville team
and hung with them for a while and Whichers was
banged up and then they had to go to the
different quarterback and now he's back. So they've played some
pretty good teams. But like Jay said, they kind of
got beaten up by Muskegan, who's really kind of surprised
some people after the start they had. And now you
(30:09):
look at Byron Center playing Forrestal's murdered and this is
a desperation game for both. Now Byron Center may be
able to lose this game and still get into the playoffs,
especially with the strength of schedule that they have, the
unknown as what that team in Illinois is going to
be like this year, and so you just really think
for Byron Center, they want to win this game, not
only to keep the streak alive and can play as
(30:30):
good as they have been, but also really because next
week is a little bit of a toss up. And
then you have Forestal's learning coach Adiastopo. I mean they literally,
I mean it's like a mobile mash unit. That team
is so banged up. They've gotten a couple of kids back,
but lost a couple of key players to injury, and
they've been kind of right there, but they just don't
have enough juice the Known Shores games. You guys saw
(30:51):
last week, Tom and Jason that the elements are there,
they just haven't really been able to put it together
for a full forty eight minutes enough. And this is
a tough game because not only is it for you know,
not trying to get off the side, but you're right,
I mean, if they lose this game, they're pretty much out.
And this is a team that a lot of us
were high on to start the season. And for them
to miss the playoffs would be a big disappointment not
(31:12):
only for them, but really for a lot of people
that were looking forward to seeing the Huskies back in
the playoffs. And so this is just a very critical game.
I think if you're coach Cisco, you've got to be
very careful. You know, you can't overlook this one because
of how Northern has played in the past couple of weeks,
and you look at this one and you just say, boy,
(31:34):
I don't want to say throw the record out, but
this one is going to be a very very interesting
and dynamic game because there's so much at stake. And
that's kind of what I like about these games.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
They might not be for.
Speaker 7 (31:45):
Conference championships, they might not even be for playoff seeding.
They might just be to get in. And I think
two teams are going to be desperate for a win.
This would be a really, really competitive and high intensity
football game.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Tom Kendra get the last word this.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
Week, Well, Jason, I think you nailed it when he
talked about Byron Center. I mean, I guarantee you Muskegan
and Portage Central they do not want to see a
first round district game against Byron Center. This team is
really good. If they get healthy, they could be scary.
Far as Forest Hills Northern goes. I think you know
the problem there. They need someone to take some of
the load off of Owen Ostapo kind of doing it
(32:21):
himself that time. You know, we saw him last week.
I was really impressed with the Christian Garcis. I thought
he may be the guy maybe the step up and
do some of that. And then how about defensively Michael
Dodde super impressive. A couple of facts against Mona Shors.
But this is this is a tough game. Byron Center
is rolling. We'll see a force. Hills Northern can't compete
with them for four quarters.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Great job as always, guys. Those are the four pack
games that we have for Week eight, and you don't
want to miss coming up. Great story this year, maybe
the story of the ire in West Michigan the Oriols
of Lovington at seven and zero, they're head coach Charlie
Gunseil will join us in the Montel Construction Coaches Corner.
We continue on the high school football preview here on
ninety six to one the game. Let's go into our
(33:20):
second Montel Construction Coaches Corner here on the high school
football Preview as we get ready for week eight of action.
Hard to believe tomorrow night, it's two weeks left in
the regular season. And of course this is being brought
to you by my friends at Montel Construction Roofing, windows,
sign and get all that stuff done before winter hits.
Find out more Montel Construction dot com. And this guy
and his program and team have been the talk of
(33:40):
West Michigan, way up on the north side of our
coverage area. We're talking about the Oriels of Luddington, West
Michigan Conference Lakes Division seven and oh and looking to
clinch the outright crown against Muskegon Orchard View coming up
tomorrow night. Their head coach, Charlie Gunseil, has been doing
it for a while there. His son Cam is their
quarterback and star safety. Head of a fairest coach. First
(34:00):
and foremost, congratulations. I love it when we get new
teams in the mix in with our coverage area with
the two stations. I mean, Whitehall has been a story
the last few years. Oakridge, of course you know the
history there, but what are people in Luddington telling you
about this football team? They got to be going bonkers
on Friday night.
Speaker 8 (34:16):
Oh tell you it's there's a buzz man.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
We love it.
Speaker 8 (34:20):
You know, we've always had tremendous support up here, even
in our ten years, people come out to watch you Oriols.
I think Oriel Field's a special place and uh so
we've always had tremendous support. But it's it's it's notched
up man. It's last Friday for homecoming and Whitehall coming
in was probably the biggest crowd we've ever had at
Oriel Field. And I know my guys had a lot
(34:40):
of fun playing in that football game.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
Well what's it like for you as the head coach
who's got to deal with all these media requests all
the time now because I'm bugging you, Brett's bugging you
on with you.
Speaker 8 (34:49):
You guys don't even know my name for twenty five years,
so I mean it's, uh, you know, my wife's kind
of picking on me a little bit about it. But
it's been fun.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
You know.
Speaker 8 (34:58):
I like talking to you guys, and more so to
get my guys, you know, some of the publicity. You know,
we've had good players here, we just haven't had great teams.
I mean, we've always had individuals who have done really
well and going on and played in college. But this
is a pretty complete football team and we're enjoying it.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Coach, I'm gonna go old school on that. Just a
quick thought. Bob Organ, right, Michigan State back in the day.
Speaker 8 (35:19):
Yeh, hey, our the voice of the oh scoop pants.
I've heard more about Bob Ard and you know, yeah,
he was kind of the guy you know back in
the I think he is eighty nine when they went
nine to zero and then had an unfortunate first round
of the playoffs. But yeah, it's been a while since
we've had the kind of success that we're having right now.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
You know, it's funny too, and we get this a
lot is coaches that coach their sons, but it's a
little bit different dynamic, as you know, when he is
your starting quarterback. And I'm sure the conversations, maybe he
gets tired of it, maybe you get tired of it.
Maybe mom has to intervene right at the dinner table.
But talk about Cam because he really is having a
phenomenal season. You got to be so proud. And everyone
(35:59):
I talk two says you think he's a good quarterback.
You should see him hit people as a safety.
Speaker 8 (36:04):
Yeah, yeah, he You know, I did some things three
years ago when Cam became our starter. I wanted to
eliminate some stressors. So actually I appointed Brent gill at
our offensive coordinator because I had been calling place for
eighteen years and I needed there to be a middleman
because you know, Cam can be emotional. I can get
emotional during games, and I didn't want that to affect
(36:25):
our relationship. So, you know, Brent's done a great.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Job with him.
Speaker 8 (36:29):
I certainly know what's going on, and he does talk
to me during games, but I wanted to eliminate any
potential problems that may carry over to home, where then
mom would have to intervene. But he's having a hell
of a year. We kind of saw this coming because
of his work. He certainly has abilities that have nothing
to do with me. You know, I think he gets
(36:50):
his athletic ability from his mom. But he's having a
hell of a year. And you're right, you know, we
like him at quarterbacks. He was recruited as a quarterback
and as a safety at the next level. But I'm
super proud of him. It's hard for me to talk
about him just because I'm so pleased with him.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
All right, Well, I'm gonna ask you to do a
little bit more because I haven't seen him play in person,
but I watched the Ocreach game on film about a
week ago, and boy, he looks he looks like he
can play quarterback in college. Like, what do you see
as his future at the next level with Tony and
ees at fair State.
Speaker 8 (37:19):
Well, just until this year, I didn't think he could.
I thought he was going to be a safety at
the collegiate level. But what I've seen and then really
it comes from all of his work in zero hour,
all of his work in the classroom, and all the
throws that he's made. I didn't think he would make
the throws he's making. Now he's completing over eighty percent
of his passes this year. Obviously, that's a credit to
(37:39):
our offensive line and we have a great group of
receivers up here, guys, but he's just become so accurate,
and you know, as arm strength continues to improve. He's
always been one that we relied on his ability to run.
You know, we used to run much more than we
would throw. But we're just pretty confident in his ability
to make the right decision. I think he's at eighteen touchdowns,
(38:00):
passing in only two picks, and so we're just comfortable
with him dropping back and making the right read, and
of course if it's not there, we're super comfortable with
him taking off. But he has played at a really
high level this year. And I appreciate the kind words.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
You know what, that's coming from a former fair State
quarterback right there and Charlie guns before he was head
coach at Luddington there seven to zero the Orioles and coach.
When I set this up with you, I said, hey,
we will obviously want to talk about you and your
son in the relationship there, but I want to talk
about your team, and I know you do you you're
excited about this program with freshmen all the way up contributing.
Speaker 8 (38:31):
Talk about some of those kids, Well, that's the thing
that's not getting talked about is obviously Cam and Walt
have committed to play collegiate football next year. But we
have multiple guys that I think are going to play
college in the future. And it starts up front. We
have a young man, Blake Nelson, who's a junior who
really last week did a pretty good job on the
(38:51):
best defensive lineman we've seen in years in Corday Anderson,
so we think he's a kid that's going to progress
in the recruiting world. We have wide receivers, you know,
Messiah Himes TOAJ Williams. These are guys that play basketball,
but they've just up their game this year. In regards
to we, I don't think we've I think we've dropped
two passes in seven games. Out of one hundred and
(39:13):
four attempts, we've dropped two. So those guys are incredibly talented.
And the young man that people are going to start talking.
I told Cam he better enjoy all these records because
there's a kid coming in. He's playing tailback for us
right now, cornerback. His name's Mikey Hines, only a freshman.
I think he scored eleven touchdowns this year. He's just
a little different type of athlete than what we've typically
(39:36):
had here. So there's a really good mix of those
type of kids. We've got a sophomore right guard and
Donnie Salazar who's as tough as they come. And then
on the defensive side, you know, I don't think kids
like Cooper Holmes get enough credit. Cooper had eleven tackles
last week in a sack. Connor Shaney's another kid that
plays d line for us. So we're just it just
seems like, you know, some years you get that right
(39:57):
mix a kid, and and we just seem to have
the right mix the kids right now with very little ego.
I mean, ego is not a deal on this football team.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
So coach, you know, I remember back in week one
and we're sitting there, We're hearing the scores coming in
and you guys beat Coopersville. That's kind of when I
was like, Wow, Luddington, they must have something real to
go to Coopersville and win the way they did.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Did you guys know when?
Speaker 5 (40:18):
I guess when did you know you had a team
that could be this good this year?
Speaker 8 (40:23):
Third quarter of Coopersville. Yeah, I'll be honest with you, guys.
I mean, going into Coopersville and playing that program in
that environment with their kids, we certainly caught the I
mean week one, they started a freshman quarterback who has
just progressed throughout the year, is going to be a
great quarterback down there for them for the next three
and a half years. But you know, our kids went
down there and played and nobody I think our kids
(40:46):
were much more confident than I was as our head coach.
I certainly didn't talk about it, but I was like,
we might be in trouble down here, but none of
that resonated through the football team. They just came out
with incredible confidence. We got up on them. I think
we were up twenty to thirteen at halftime, put the
second half kickoff one on an eight minute drives the
score to go up twenty eight to thirteen, and I
think it was at that point where I was like,
(41:07):
we're pretty tough, because that's always kind of been our
knock guys. I mean, we've had skill, We've had guys
that could run around and make plays. Our knock has
been we haven't been able to run the ball in
big football games, and we haven't been able to stop
the run because, quite frankly, we just weren't tough enough.
And this mix of kids, they're showing that they can
be tough enough to get those things done.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Coach, I'm curious. I always like the psyche side of
a coach when you have a season like this, and
like Jay said kiddingly, but it's true, you're obviously the
phone calls and media requests and want to do interviews
and maybe it's cam or whatever. How do you handle
that or do you just let the kids enjoy it
because it is a different dynamic. But you've still got
a lot of football to play, right, Oh.
Speaker 8 (41:47):
My goodness, gracious. I mean, even going to Orchard Do
this weekend, they have two of the best athletes we're
going to see all year, and Peyton Babbitt and then
the young man in the slot who's just's gone over
one thousand yards already. So our goal is to keep
the focus on practice. Our goal is to keep the
focus on winning football games. And it is new right,
Like I joked earlier, but hell, people don't even know
we were up here for the last twenty five years.
(42:09):
I mean, that's not a joke other than local media
because we just didn't show out when we went to
oak Ridge, or we didn't play well at white Hall
and they were just so athletically dominant, so we were
always kind of on the back burner. So it has
been a little bit more. It's been a ton of fun.
Like I talked to somebody earlier and I just said,
I couldn't script my final year as head coach better
than what's happening, right, now.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Coach, I'm going to say this real quick before I
let Jay get the next question. Gus Macker basketball, Luddington
State Park, salmon fishing, and I've even been to the
Elk Ranch up there, so I love Lennington coach.
Speaker 8 (42:42):
Well, that's the thing. Somebody asked me, why did you
know you've been there twenty six twenty seven years? Why
did you know what made you stay? And I'm like,
have you ever been here? I mean, it's an unbelievable place.
And even when we weren't winning a ton of games,
I was still coaching great kids. And you know, now
with what our community has done, if you've been to
Oreel Field and we plan a you know, synthetic surface
(43:02):
and it's a great place to play football. If you
go into our weight room, I would put our weight
room up against anybody in West Michigan, regardless of class.
And I think the other thing that goes in that
is I've coached with I've got fourteen guys on staff.
I've had three of them for twenty six years. Wow,
And so all fourteen of those guys I trust, And
I bet you there's not many guys that can say
(43:23):
they trust unconditionally all fourteen of their assistant coaches. And
that's just the place I'm in right now.
Speaker 5 (43:29):
So I don't know if you trailed in the Coopersville game,
but you trailed against Whitehall last week's seven nothing maybe
for the first time all year, at the very least
for the first time since week one. You need some
adversity like that, right, Like what kind of response did
you see from your kids in that situation when.
Speaker 8 (43:46):
It was interesting you bring that up. Actually, what led
to their touchdown to take the seven er leite is
Cam fumbled. Cam pumbled on an ISO, and I think
that just lit the fire. He was so upset with
himself and it felt like, y oh, you'd let people down.
He kind of just put it in a little bit
different gear. But all the kids were coming off even
(44:06):
after that play, saying we're fine, you know, we're fine,
This is going to be okay. We did trail at
Coopersville briefly, but you're right. You do have to have adversity.
And what we've tried to do is we try to
make our practice is so much more chaotic than games.
We try to put our kids through adversity during the
week so that they can handle it on Friday. But again,
I have a pretty mature football team. I've got probably
(44:28):
ten seniors that play a lot of football for me,
and you know, they just respond and they don't panic
and they don't overreact, and we're going to play good
football teams. I think Orchard is as dangerous as anybody.
And then we've got a Try County team week nine
who can score with anybody. So you know, there's plenty
of opportunities for those things to happen.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Still coming, coach, final question for me, We appreciate your
time so much. We know it's been busy for you,
especially this week, but the Cats kind of out of
the bag at least in the Lovington area and the
fact that this is going to be your last season,
and we wish you the best. I've seen Tim Rodgers
go out with the state championship at FHC. He was
a great friend of the program. You know, John Chilato
on the legend he is Zeland West And so we
(45:08):
wish you the best. But are you starting to realize
now as you get to the end of the regular
season kind of soaking up every moment along with your kids.
Speaker 8 (45:15):
Yeah? Sometimes I'll be honest, guys, sometimes on Fridays I watch.
I have great coordinators. Again I said, I trust everybody
at my offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator. I have complete trust
in them. I certainly know what's going on on every
single play, But there are times I watch and I
look around because it's been an amazing run here.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
It has.

first this, week.
Speaker 5 (47:38):
So i've Got hudsonville number.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
One didn't.
Speaker 5 (47:40):
Change in, fact nobody changed in my top, six, Right
So hudsonville. Won rock for, Two miskegan, Three East kent
With Forest kent with the loose To. Hudsonville but it
was on A Hail, mary last play of the, game
yep port Of central, Five Unity christian, six and THEN
i move Up Byron center one to, Seven Catholic central
one to. Eight East gronub was one to, nine and
THEN i wrestled with. Ten who WAS i going to
put in? There With grandville losing to Grand, haven who
(48:00):
goes in at number? Ten it was really to me
Between West catholic And Kenilwa. Hills i'm certainly thinking About.
Luddington i'm certainly thinking About. Portland Mona shores is probably
still in that conversation a little. BIT i decided to
go To West. Catholic six straight wins for The falcons
if like they're playing really, WELL i.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
Agree with you they're ones to keep an eye, on
along With belding at six and. One don't Forget Zealand
west at five and. Two BUT i didn't have much change.
Either And i'm glad you said what you did About
east Kent wood BECAUSE i did not penalize them at.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
All i've got them at number five this. Week i'm so.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
IMPRESSED i, mean games that could have gone either way
in my, opinion With rockford And. Hudsonville and we covered
The rockford, game but The hudsonville game what a. Thriller
and as you say, that The eagles so, impressive can
anyone knock them off the? Pedal still they're my number
one team at seven to. Zero Unity christian right behind
them at seven to. Zero big game this week At South.
Christian Horted central comes in at. Seven oh number three for,
(48:48):
Me rockford four at five and, two Then east Kent wood,
five then six through.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Ten looks like.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
This muskegan atop the Ok Green division trying to close
that crowd out at five and, Two Catholic central at,
seven Zer will seeing our game of the week At
North fiew tomorrow night is. Seven Then i've Got luddington
at seven and, zero number, Eight Kennowa hills at six and,
one WHO i just saw at, nine and THEN i move.
In you've talked about them for a while now and
you Heard Todd colster reference them, too because it's within their.
(49:14):
Division is there a better front seven defense waly out
their The East Grand. Rapids i'm rewarding The pioneers at
five and. Two i've got him as my number ten.
Speaker 6 (49:21):
Team.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
Yeah East grabits is a hard one because they have
that week one loss To lowell forty to, seven And
lowell has the same, Record so you do Have Keniwall
hills in their.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Head East Girn.
Speaker 5 (49:28):
RAPIDS i. DON'T i JUST i feel Like East grabits
is super improved at. Defense is so Good Tyler blake
with the fumble return for a. TIME i mean they're
scoring on defense, now they're just holding opponents, out they're scoring.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
Themselves AND i Had greenville drop out after that. Loss
like you talked about a grand. Haven and all right
with that, set let's go to our uptown cheapskate players
of the. Week i'll go first with this. One and
how About Danny brown And South christian making a subtle little?
Change or was it because they go with sophomore Quarterback Brodie,
shields who's never played the quarterback position, before getting pretty
(49:58):
good production For Austin, Burgess but they wanted to get
even more offensive. Production So shiltz comes in and all
he did in their forty one to twelve win last
week Over Zealand east six for six passing one hundred
and five yards and a, touchdown sixteen carries a team
high one hundred and fifty eight yards rushing and three more.
Touchdowns and lo and, behold This South Christian Unity christian
game is worth something besides just the rivalry four and,
(50:20):
Three South christian three and one and the okay gold
right behind The.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
Crusaders What South christian's done is they've caught lightning in
a bottle With Bertie, schiltz and now's the true. Test
this will be their best opponent with him at. Quarterback Unity.
Christian be interesting to see how that Goes i'm gonna
go WITH kV carnstra from Grant, haven the junior who's
playing running. Back remember they Lost Andrew williamson to a
season ending knee injury in the, scrimmage and they started
(50:44):
the year trying to figure out what they're going to.
Do Because crencier is a really good, receiver, right they
move him to running. Back and so we had seventy
five rushing in a, touchdown eighty eight receiving in a,
touchdown And Grand haven Upsets.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
Grandville, yeah nice win for them and a tough year
