Speaker 1 (00:00):
They motion purchase now sending him back. Played fake fist
fires across the middle. Touchdown has this man on a
little crossing route. Jack Dahn holds it in in traffick
this with a bullet deer in South Christian on the board.
Fourteen to six hand off from left to right, cutting
off Campaign us all more off to the races. Twenty
fifty ten touchdown.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
He saw his.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Senior brother do it, he said I can do it too.
Campaign takes it from forty two yards out and the
Bulldogs extend their lead.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's almost game night, West Michigan. Time to hear from
the coaches and the guys who call the games in
the press box. Who's in this week's top ten and
what about the players of the week. No one covers
high school football like we do. This is the LMCU
High School Football Preview Show, exclusively.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Here on ninety six.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Won the game and powered each week by Lake Michigan
Credit Union. We treat our members like neighbors and also
brought to you by Meyer Kids, Food Basket, jayin H
Family Stores, vandr Long, Holme Improvement, Trinity Health, Sporting, You, Wing, Doozy,

MKD Funeral Homes, Win Shoolers, Delicious Cheese Spreads, Halse Jepson
Physical Therapy, Discount Door and Montel Construction. And now here
are your hosts, Brett Pekina and Jason Hutton.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Let's start off going into the Montel Construction Coaches Corner
with Rockford head coach Brent Cummings and it's brought to
you by Montel Construction. Fifteen percent off plus eighteen months
no interest plus a new snowblower on all projects with
a seventy five hundred dollars minimum project size. Sounds funny
with the great weather we're having, but they love it
because they're getting those projects done and also we love it.
On Friday nights cover in High School Football. Gorgeous coach
(01:46):
a couple of weeks ago. I just got a comment
on this before we get into your matchup. You know
last week Grandville in this week Hutsonville. Is there a
better site than Carlson Munger Stadium in mid September than
we saw with at East Kentwood where there was nearly
ten thousand people. I think the tendance it was unbelievable, coach,
It really is.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
It's an awesome community and love how they come out
to support the Rams, and it's we love the stadium.
We love just a feel of it and it's a
special place to play on a Friday night.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
Okay, So I was there at Muskegon in week two
and you are coming off the loss to Salne and
you're down seventeen at halftime. I mean you turn it
around and you win that game. I mean you were,
You were twenty four minutes from being zero and two,
and who knows what happens. How important was that second
half to what's been a really successful run for you
guys here so far, and what did you do to
(02:33):
turn it around?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It was a great step in the right directions for
our team. And I would say very proud of our
two coordinators just in terms of knowing their athletes and
knowing their players and knowing exactly what type of talk
they needed. There's times when coach Veen will be Vanetervene
will be fired up and hollering and getting them juiced up.
Or that particular game, he took a very tactical approach
(02:56):
and there were a few things schemantic wise, and alignment
wise that we needed to get a just so he went.
He was on the board and very clear, made it
very clear for what adjustice need to be made, and
asked great questions and the kids, you know, understood and
they are to come out after halftime and put that
to action. So they had a great learning lesson and
just paying attention and knowing what to do. On the
(03:16):
offensive side, it was Jason had a sense that coach
Vandelon had a sense that our offensive line and backs
and they just needed to be uh, you know, just
to increase intensity and that was he gave a very
passionate and energetic talk with the offense and they came
out with a ton of energy. And it's just proud
of how those two responded and the type of leadership
we get out of those two on a week to
(03:37):
week basis. The program that they put in. I thought
that was in terms of just earning trust from the players.
It just they did an incredible job.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Brent, whether it's your college career or high school career
with Earth Siegler Senior or your dad. For many people
don't know, great athlete is own right at Rockford, but
also athletic director at BELDI when you were there, so
a leadership role, coach role. Where did all that come
for where you are now? And I say now, because
in a system like Rockford, you're almost like a CEO
(04:05):
is along with the head coach, right, I mean, you've
got all these guys who have a ton of experience
that you respect and you kind of let them do
their thing, but then you're in control of one hundred
plus kids as well.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
I always go back to just have an appreciation for
where I've had a chance to learn, being at building
and being part of that program in the nineties where
Coach Sigler did an incredible job, and then under the
leadership of my dad as the athletic director. You have
a young age. I don't think I appreciate it then,
but tak him back now, just how Coach Sigler did it.
(04:38):
There's many things I hear him say, and I get
a chance to implement that here at Rockford. And then
you go on to Michigan and Coach Carr is such
a special guy and so many valuable lessons from him.
How he ran a program and you know, he's a
relationship guy that loved this player, spent time meeting with
his players, and I mean, there's just so many cool
opportunities for me to grow and learn from those mentors
(05:00):
and aspire to be that type of a leader. And
it takes a ton of work, and I'm still working
really hard at understand that you're never really going to
truly figure it out. What you got to have a
respect for guys that have done it the right way.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
We're talking with Rockford head coach Brent Cummings in a
six season leading the Rams, and coach did a really
nice win at Granville last week. You beat him twenty
eight nothing. Obviously a lot of things we could talk
about here. Defense really good, but I thought your sophomore
quarterback comes in next guy up right, Cason Whitford. The
sophomore played really well for you. Just what can you
say about a kid to do what he did for
you guys last Friday night?
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Yeah, I thought he's great. That's a product of a
competitive practice environment where a ton of kids are going
to get repetitions. Yeah, there's ninety three, and you got
to find a way for those kids to get meaningful,
impactful reps and go back to our coaches where they
all of our coaches every position. Coach takes every minute
of practices accounted for. They take their time with planning
(05:53):
the practice and getting kids ready to go, and so
when their numbers called, they are ready. And Cason was.
He played composed. We're proud of what he's done in
the offseason and proud of how he handled himself going
back from varsity to JV. It shows some neat characteristics
about him, excited for his future. And then and again
go back to the coaches though, too, where coaches and
(06:15):
players just willing to put so much time and effort
so that when the numbers called, you're ready.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
So we've got you back home against Hutsonville Monster game. Coach,
I see Brandon Daniels has listed an R two deep
from you this week? How is he as far as
his health status? Because I was there, you know when
he got dinged in that late in that game against
the Kent wh do you guys win a little bit
more of the single wing or wildcat, whatever you want
to call it with Luca Hearn that you guys had
put in. But Braden coming back, it's a big game.
(06:42):
And I was impressed. I told you before he went
out seen him this year with his second year as
a starter, his composure, his decision making, especially in big
games like that, and he'll need that of course against
Hutsonville on Friday night.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
His decision making has improved, and that goes back to
how he spent the off season. He spent a ton
of time watching film, studying film, basically every lunch period,
being up in coach Vanlon's office and really getting a
better understanding how to watch film, not just watch film
and put minutes in, but actually truly understand. Okay, when
he watches a repetition on film, Okay, what's he looking for?
(07:16):
What type of progression can he do? In his mind?
So then when he gets to practices, ready to go,
and then when you get to the game, he carried
another step further. He's really doing a great job, and
I think that shows with his composure. Right, He's spent
so much time and he's earned so much excitement for
for what he can offer the team and how he
can add value just by showing others how to prepare
(07:37):
in the off season and then how he does it
every single days. He's doing an incredible job being a
team captain and still continues to work his tailoff coach.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
One of the reasons I think you've had so much
success is because you do such a great job of
you know, you never you make it each week as
important as any other week, right and never too important.
But you have Hudsonville this week. Obviously there they went
to the state championship game last year, they won the
OKA read last year that you guys lost to them
last year?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Like, is this?
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Are you able as a team? I know as a
coaching staff you do it, but as a team, can
you guys just say, hey, this is just another week
we just have to put for another effort. Is there
a little more to this one?
Speaker 6 (08:10):
Now?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
They do this? This team does do that. They understand
that this is a journey and every single week the
main goal is to improve. All the other stuff will
take care of itself and if they show up. We
had a great practice yesterday. We wanted to be a
better team after yesterday's practice than we were last Monday
and going into Tuesday's practice. You know, as we go
(08:31):
throughout the week, each time we get a chance to
step on the practice field, we want to be better
than the day before. And that's really the one way
that we can gauge Okay, going into the game and
have the confidence that you want. You take that day
by day approach, and then you get to the game,
you break it down and play by play. I mean
that's the way. It's such a tough game. It's a
physical sport. There's so many things moving parts. You really
(08:52):
have to take that one day at a time approach,
and it's probably these kids how they respond to it.
They're coachable. Those are things that we challenge them on
and they're really just a fun group.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Of kids that work with Give us the snapshot, Brent
of what you face in Hudsonville on Friday night. I
did not see this a lean game live. I know
what they're all about. Obviously, they've been explosive and been
one of the top teams in the state. But when
I look at Hudsonville, I've seen both you and Hudsonville
in person. The defense jumps out to me with Brent,
Sandy and the Eagles, I mean, phenomenal, obviously shutting out
(09:20):
Jennis and their rival last week. So give us what
you're kind of looking at. As far as the Eagles this.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Year's edition, Yeah, you're right on. They're a well coach
program that does everything at a high level. And defensively,
it's a they play a physical brand of football. Defensive
backs cover well physical type, and then linebackers just each
year under coach Sandy's leadership, they play hard. They place
the downhill and a defensive line that is aggressive and
(09:46):
they bounce around, throw a bunch of different looks at
you make it, you know, attempt to make it difficult
on the offensive line. And so there's just a physical
downhill and you see that same thing on the offensive
line where they have guards that just play fight, tough,
play downhill, get the hat on the right side and
correct side of the block, and I would say across
the board, that's that's their identity and they do a
(10:10):
great job of it. It's going to be a physical
game where you got two programs that that's part of
their identity and that that that's what makes so much fun.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
But tell us about Sam, your your son, Sam Cummings,
who's outstanding linebacker for you. You know we saw him
go out a little bit in that Sealine game. Missed
the Miskiging game. I think you might have missed the
Grendaven game two, but it's come back played well. Just
tell me about how proud you are of him and
how he's getting better each week.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Oh yeah, you talked about it. Versit right to th
Acyl Tears missed a couple of seasons and but just
stay the course. And that's the one thing I'm most
proud of where you see the behind the scenes and
you know, I would say when he was going through
his rehabit, he was coming in the morning rehabit, he
would come in at lunch work on rehabbit you coming
after school rehabbing. That went on from all the way
(10:52):
back to when the injury happened last season. And he's
been doing that every day. It's not just hey, I
feel good today, I'm ready to go get some me.
I have no every single day he set the vision,
the goal and he's going after So those are things
that you're hoping in the in your players that they
take on they keep building that life toolkit. And he's
someone that just terms of resilience and a day by
(11:13):
day thing and just respecting progress, proud of them for
doing a great job of it.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I'm gonna end with this, Brent, and thank you so
much for the time. We appreciate im. I to let
you put your dad hat on and try to describe
this as well as a coach. I look at your
sons and you have multiple boys, right, and I look
at the Hearne family and their background of football. What
is it with those kids that just makes them so tough?
I mean, whether it's Luke you know, whether it's Zach
(11:39):
you know, playing quarterback at first, it doesn't matter position.
They're just tough kids.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Yeah, there's a love for the game, there's a respect
for the game. It's it's a game that takes a
ton of mental toughness and things that behind the scenes,
the preparation, and you lift off with a bunch of
those guys. You think about the dads and even Brandon
Daniels dad has been a coach within the program, and
we have another younger Daniels that's coming through. We have
(12:04):
the These are guys that have been coaches winning the program.
They the older brothers lead the way. And then there's
probably a little bit of that too where the older
brothers are whipping up on the younger brothers when they
come through, they're even tougher yet. So you probably got
a little of that going on too.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
And you know that right because of your brother Paul too, right, b.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. I got my youngest son, Luke,
who's an eighth grader, and he's been getting pumbled now
he's thirteen years old. He's been thirteen years getting pumbled.
He's probably give me the toughest one.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
By the way, Coach, I did want to say, nice
catch by your middle son Jack writing that east Ketwaigie
and that was a big touchdown catch.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
It was. And again, yeah, it's fun, I'd be lying right,
it's fun to be dad and coach. There's challenges there,
but it's way more fun than any negative part of
it comes of. It's a it's a unique experience and
I'll make sure that I, you know, do it. Would
love for all of our football kids, and just cherish
the time as well.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
We always chose the time we could talk with you.
Coach apprec ed it best to luck Friday night. Gonna
be another big crowd at Carls Amonger Stateium, another beautiful
night for football against Hutsville. That's the way it should be.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Right, that's the way it should be. It's gonna get
a ton of energy, perfect night, like you said, and
at a better place in Michigan. State Michigan. Probably when
the country's gonna arrival. Atmosphere's all around, so it'll be
exciting night for everyone.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Only a soft on number fifty eight, but they like him.
Second down and three inside the Dutch thirtieth to twenty
nine to late handoff left side, big hole trying to
bounce at the outside, breaks the tackles, stalles freedom side.
It's twenty fifteen to ten to five touchdown to the house.
Nick right the junior and just like that, Belly from
twenty nine yards out strikes first time. For the week
(13:44):
six four pack, we've got great games across the board
we're excited to break down for you. Tom Kendra buck
Gino joining us in this four pack segment being brought
to each week by Jane h Family Stores with now
sixty plus locations across Michigan to serve you jan and
H's Family Stores stopping on the way to your next
game or on your way home. So the LMCU games
of the week we've already kind of highlighted. You've got
(14:05):
Hudson of Rockford, top two teams in the OK Red
Buck and al be back at Carylselmonger Stadium six o'clock
with the coverage on ninety six to one the game
Jason and Tom always good Sailors Stadium is going to
be the site this year. Muskegan at Mona Shores catch
it on one oh seven m us the moves and
as we welcome in Buck Geno and Tom Kendra. Unbelievable games, guys,
and we'll start with Jason Hutton Grand Rapids Christian at
(14:27):
West Catholic Jay.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Yeah, well this looks like it's going to be for
the OK White title, right. Both teams the last two
unbeaten teams in conference play. And who would have thought
we'd say that Grandpitz Christian has struggled in recent years,
and boy they've really come on, winning last two weeks
over Spring Lake and then Forest Hills Eastern and pretty
handily as well. I love Chuck King, his second year
quarterback as a junior. Brecktonmusin's a guy that's really stepped
(14:49):
up for them, another junior. This is a young football team.
Granderpitz Christiano plays h back. They go to a little
wildcat with him. Eldon Grover's a sophomore running back like
Davis Hutt, is one of the few senior stars in
this team. As center and inside linebacker. Really makes them go.
I think this game of I mean West Catholic is
knocked past Hamilton, knocked bast spring Lake. Yes, West Cale's
the defending champs, they're the favorite. You know, they lost
Aaron record for the season. That's a huge loss for them.
(15:11):
I think cam Inbody has stepped up obviously, Grady Augustus
played at a high level. I think Connor Olshefsky's really good.
I think this has the makings to be a really
close game.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
All right, let's go next to Tom Kendrick, your partner
in crime on Friday Nights. Tom, how do you see
this one?
Speaker 6 (15:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
You mentioned it there, Jay, the youth of a Grand
Rapids Christian. It's great to see Kirk Sunberg has them,
you know, relevant again here this late in the season.
But the youth is right, you know.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
In addition to.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Mewsen, you mentioned him Eldon Grover, a sophomore running back
one hundred and thirteen yards three touchdowns last week. So
a great story there at Grand Rapids Christian. But you know,
West Catholic. When you think of West Catholic, you know,
you think of a power football team. But they've really
you know, changed their identity under Land and Grove and
Grady Augustin, you know, through for a school record four
(15:57):
hundred and eighteen yards a couple of weeks ago against Hamilton,
and that'll be a test for the Eagles. You know,
can they play pass defense against a really good quarterback?
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Buck?
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Do?
Speaker 2 (16:06):
You know?
Speaker 1 (16:06):
You and I've seen West Cathoic in person, and also
we've been kind of following through people that have seen
Christian play in person that this is a different Eagles team.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
I mean you look at Grand Rapids Christian and what
they've been able to do. I talked about it a
couple of weeks ago. Which team is going to be
the one that shows up right? Is it going to
be the team that lost to South Christian? Is it
going to be a team that went to Illinois and
won a close game? Boy? This one still I think
when I look at it, I think of experience, and
(16:37):
I know We's Catholic has probably not performed like a
lot of people, including myself, had predicted. I mean, they're
not beating teams by twenty thirty points, but they just
get the job done. And I kind of look at
this and I think of a Grand Rapids Christian team.
They're playing basically for first place, right They're looking to
try to get into conversation in the conference, and they're
(16:58):
going to be playing a veteran team in West Catholic,
and I think if it comes down to the final minutes,
that's where I kind of look at West Castle and
I think they probably have the personnel to pull this off.
Yes they have struggled, Yes they have had some injuries
and things going on, but they just get the job
done and I think that's what they're going to be
able to do this Friday. It may not be pretty,
(17:20):
it may not look super fancy on the scoreboard, but
they just win games. And against a team like Grant
Edfreid's Christian who a lot of these kids, this is
probably the biggest game so far in their career that
they they'll played in. It's just one of those things
where do they rise to the moment or does the
experience of West Catholic come finally to help them out
as it has in the past against other teams. And
(17:42):
I think that's probably what I look as the key
to this game is how they go down the stretch.
If it's a close game.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Love the quarterback matchup here, Charlie King, I've kind of
billed him as the Baker Mayfield of West Mischkan High
School football. Just moxie. He's got it right, whether it
needs to run, whether it needs to pass, whatever it
takes for the Eagles and Gradi Aguin has done a
nice job all throughout his senior season, building off of
being a starter last year. I think in the end, though, guys,
West Catholic's defense is going to be the difference in
(18:10):
this contest. But certainly as Jay set up great matchup
two top teams in the Okay White, Let's go to
Buck Gino next. Can anyone slow down Craig Tibby's Crusader's
a unity Christian Well Zealand West will try off a
big win of the Bird Bowl last week.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Buck, Yeah, Zealand West was a team that we didn't
know what John Scholzl retiring, what they were going to
look like. Were they going to be the ducks of old?
Were they going to have kind of a new flavor
based on having a new coach and a new look
at it. I mean we've seen kind of everything, right.
We've seen them pull off a Hail Mary, which if
you've watched any sort of Zealand West football in the
(18:44):
last fifteen years, you're like, they throw the football, okay, yeah,
and so you look at it and yeah, they have
some new things going on, but it's still really the
same system that they've run under John Cholitel and coach
Bullhouse has done a really nice job. I think white
haul the game up there. They kind of after that
big winning Instwestado, they kind of lost their heads for
(19:05):
a little bit and Whitehalls got a team that you
can take lightly. They fell behind way early in that
one and just couldn't claw all the way back and
so that's their lone blemish on the season. But they've
played a lot of close games. On the other hand,
Unity Christian well they have not their closest game twenty
one points and we two against school Craft, and so
they have just been putting away teams and putting them
(19:26):
away early, and Craig Tibby just doing it again, weaving
his magic as he normally does. They were not a
team that we talked a lot about during the preseason,
just because we didn't really know what they had and
shame on us for doubting what coach Tibby and his
staff could do. And they're just doing what they always do,
which is just played dominant, physical football up front and
(19:48):
just pound you in the submission, and then the defense,
you know, they get you behind the sticks. They're very aggressive,
and man, they're just playing at a very high level
right now. The one thing I wonder about is if
it's a close game. Unity has not had one of
those yet to their credit, but also at some point
you're going to play a close game. And we saw
(20:09):
it in that State final game, right when they have
blown out everybody, go to a trillion points in the
regular season, and all of a sudden, the fourth quarter
came and it was a dogfight with Josh Lucas a
Chelsea squad and they end up losing that game. So
Iley's look at it is you want to get one
of those games out of the way in the regular season,
especially against a good team. And I think if i'm Unity,
(20:30):
I think they could probably win this game. But I
think if it's close, it's going to be interesting how
they navigate that down the stretch because they just haven't
had to do it yet. For a lot of kids
that are kind of new to that. I know that
they went nine to the last year, but losing the
first round at the playoffs again, another close game where
they really hadn't had to navigate that too much, and
(20:51):
all of a sudden it happens. So that's what I
want to see. I want to see them navigate a
close game and playing against the Zealand West team that
runs almost the same offense they do well, that's probably
about the best jefordee they're gonna have to do that.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Well, who does it better?
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Right?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Who does it better?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Because they run the same offense. But what's interesting is
if you watch deealand West, they're running some single wing
stuff this year which has really been interesting and they've
been pretty effective with it. So how does coach Cheff
Bullhouse mix and match that and can they hang tough?
You talk about adversity Union, Christian hasn't seen much of it, right.
They weren't down thirteen to eighth for so Central last
week and then they roll off what forty four un answered,
So I think they might have answered a bell there.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
I think justin Phoebus, guys, I'll hop in before I
go to Tom. Kendra has been phenomenal. I mean, let's
remember it's one year starting varsity football. Obviously he was
a guy coming up through the ranks, but didn't get
that opportunity last year, just because that's the way it
works sometimes. And I think he's been fabulous as far
as ball control, efficiency running that offense, and thus Unity
Christians maybe surprised some people how successfully been, especially with
(21:49):
that senior class that was so heavy that they graduated
with starters. Tom Kendra, your thoughts, Well, you.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Look at Dland West a year ago thirteen and one
Division three state title. They're only loss to it was
this Unity Christian team in Week five, twenty to eight,
and what jumps out at me there is they held
Zeland West to eight twenty last year that machine. After
that game, the Ducks went on to win nine in
a row, all by at least two scorers. So talk
(22:17):
a lot about Unity Christian Craig Tibby and offensive genius,
but they also play some pretty good defense. So they've
been really good against Zealand West. So I really and
if people wonder about a letdown for Unity, you know
that might have been last week Like that Jay said,
they trailed thirteen to eight in the fourth quarter and
then turned it on. So I look for unity to
roll in this game.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Well, and let's stay with the wing tea or full
ty backfield right with a theme here with unity Christian
Zealand West. For your next game, you're going to Okay,
Silver Country Tom Kendra Belding at Fruitport, Well, I wanted
a chance to talk.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
About Fruitport a little bit. You know, this season they
started out with a twenty eight point loss to their
rivals Spring Late and then a thirty two point loss
to Big Rapids. And what have they done since then? Well,
they've won three in a row. Now, a lot of
that has to do a strength to schedule for sure,
but I think it might be more than that. They're
averaging forty two points a game the last three weeks.
(23:10):
The junior quarterback Brady Hanson has been getting better and better.
Three touchdown passes last week, if a sophomore running back
Liam Campbell a couple of tds last week, and then
a really good senior receiver in Dayde William. So now
the question is can they beat Belding? Can they be
the team to knock off Belding? Everyone thought, okay, maybe
Hopkins is going to be the team that does it,
(23:31):
and they the Black Knights. They do it with defense.
They beat Hopkins eight to seven, and then last week
it was going to be Holland to do it and
they got the offense, going sixty to twenty over Holland. So,
I mean, all I know about Belding is they've won
three straight Okay Silver titles. They've now won twenty straight
conference games, and their problem has been in the postseason.
(23:52):
The final thing I want to say about the Black Knight,
you know they'd they've struggled in Division five. They went
into the Grand Raptids, Catholic, the Oak Ride, just the
Franken Moose of the world. But they've slipped down to
Division six this year.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
So who knows.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Maybe this is the year Moni Price and Belding makes
a little bit of a playoff run.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Well, when you talk about Belding's wing tea power t
flat te, call it what you want. Report did play
Napoleon two weeks ago, and Napoleon runs that offense and
Forport defended it really really well. I do expect that
Belding is probably a little bit better at it than Napoleon.
We will see the Okay Silver. To me though, it
is just wide open. I mean, yes, as wide open
as it can be with a three time defending champion
it gool that's one twenty in a row. Just Beling
(24:32):
beat Hopkins eight to seven. Hopkins has not won a
game in the Okay Silver. I just to me, I
think anything can it probably will happen in this conference.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yeah, I agree with you too. Before we go to
but you know, I want to hear him to have
the last word since we both saw Belding last week.
First of all, I will say this, I think Belding
righted the ship and they play their most complete game
which money Price is waiting for, that they haven't had
yet this season, in that victory over Holland and then Buck.
The other thing that I'm sure you're going to talk
about too is the fact of they have efficient quarterback
(25:01):
in Dawson Donovan. But their size. Remember the guys that
they were bringing in as extra running backs in the rotation.
They've got a lot of size, plus that offensive line
up front.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
Yeah, I mean that's not something you see at a
lot of levels. I mean they have some kids. I
mean that looked like a significantly bigger team than you're
going to see in Division six. Now that said, playing
the physical game as they did well. Their only loss
was to another team that well they probably are going
to run into in Division six, and that's Reeve's City.
(25:31):
But I feel like they've tried to make a point
against Holland last week and they certainly did not that
Holland doesn't have the talent, but they clearly were young
and did not execute. And coach money Price had said
up to that point he didn't feel like they had
their best game. I don't know if he gave him
in any plus last Friday, but I'm pretty sure it
was high on the grading scale, very efficient right down
(25:53):
the field, running the offense smoothly. The one thing I
look at here in this game is Fruitport, like Tom said,
they had a big loss to start the season. They've
kind of been up and down. I mean then they
rip a team like Kelloggsville and then you know, we
can do all the games, and I know the listeners
don't want to have to go through all of it,
but the Silver is just kind of a mess. Let's
(26:15):
just put it that way. I mean, everybody is beating everybody,
and I think, now you look at this competitively and
Fruitport's think him, Man, if we could just get this
into the fourth quarter. A team like Belding that thinks
they're probably going to come in and steamroll as if
we can get this to the fourth court, I think
that's the team this week. As teams playing close games, well,
(26:35):
Belding certainly has played close games, but Fruitport has not.
So the longer you let a team that the underdog
hang around, the more they think they can win. So
if you're Belding, kind of like with Holland, if you
can put them away in that first half, it makes
your job a lot easier. But they were super impressive
last week. It's going to be interesting to see how
this one plays out. But for Division six, for my money,
(26:59):
between them and Leads say, those are two teams that
whoever gets pasted one another in the playoffs has got
a really good shot.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
And for my game, guys, I'm going to the OK
Black Division, which is showing its depth. I think as
we move through to week six in the season with
what TK did last week and that Northfew East Grand
Rapids finish and speaking of themes, buck Gino, I'm gonna
go with this one sense of urgency with this game.
Thorn Apple Kellogg at Northfew Norfew just came off a
(27:29):
stinging loss at home ten to three to East Grand Rapids,
so they've got a sense of urgency because Catholic Central
is coming up down the road for them and for TK.
You start to look at this stretch they're in. They
lose to Catholic Central last week ten to nothing, didn't
give up an offensive touchdown, but they've got a gamut
here of North Few, East Grand Rapids, and Holland Christian
before they finished with Wyoming. I feel confident they can
(27:50):
beat the Wolves, but where's that fifth win gonna come?
Where's that sixth win gonna come? So they're hoping maybe
at Northfew this week to get that behind them. So
with that said, guys, I'm curious to see what you think,
and I'll start with Tom Kendra with this matchup.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Well, one thing I think is the Okay Black is
the most improved conference in the area. Here we are
heading into week six, five of the six teams in
the conference have a winning record. Very impressive to me.
But both of these teams in this game are coming
off of tough defensive games. TK allowed just ten points
to Grand Rapids Catholic, but they lose that game ten
(28:26):
to nothing. Norview allowed only ten points to East Grand
Rapids and they lose ten to three. So which team
is going to get their offense going in this game?
Nor Few had it going until they ran in the
East Grand Rapids.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
You know they have Jalen Gant.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Can you keep them down two weeks in a row.
I'm not so sure.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
Let's go next to Buck Geno Buck your thoughts on
this one.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
I mean Tom hitded on the head. Both teams are
holding opponents, you know, to ten points or less, and
well they both was So what does that tell us
those of the need to figure out what's going on
in the offensive? Now, North, you clearly was impressive offensively
going into that Eastern Araffids game of coach Josh Shannick
and his staff found a way to sideline them and
(29:08):
then Middle, I mean they didn't give up an offensive
touchdown last week. The score was a defensive touchdown on
an intercepted the lateral, so they didn't give up an
offensive point while I guess the field goal counts, but
an offensive touchdown to Granrafics Catholic Central with Oden Spencer
and all those guys that were making headlines at the
beginning of the year. These two teams are playing very well.
(29:29):
TK The thing that I worry about though is again
it's the experience factor. And I'll go back to it. Yes,
they were in a tight ball game, they didn't pull
it out. How much does that shape them for this week?
Because now North to You're coming in. You're right a
sensive urgency not only for TKA but also for North
to You because if they lose a second game, they're
not winning this division at all. And for the playoffs
(29:52):
because their Division two school and everybody else is blow them.
It's going to severely cripple their playoff point average and
it's going to really wreak havoc on where they're going
to have to go in that first round. Because you
look at Division two last year, it was a gauntlet.
This year super wide open and North to coming in
if they could get a playoff team that they could host.
As we remember last year they went nine to zero
(30:14):
and didn't host a playoff game. They need those points
and so this is a big game for both teams.
I think coach Ashnach and his staff are going to
diagnose what happened last week and get it done. But
I really like to see the competitiveness from coach Jeff Dack.
He's got his son now quarterbacking for the Trojans in
his sixth year, and so this is a really nice
story and I would like to see them continue. But
(30:36):
I think Northew is going to end up pulling this
one out, but hopefully it's a competitive game that gives
the TK fans something to hang their head on.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Book gets the last word, Well, I just first of all,
Odin Spencer left that game in the second offensive series
for Catholic Central. Now I'm not trying to do that
get anything away from the TK defense because Brad Sweeney
came in to play quarterback and he's as good as
athlete as there is West Michigan. So no question that
TK defense is good. Will you talk about teams only
giving up ten points in losing. I mean, I would
think that eastcron Rapids and Catholic Central's defenses are probably
(31:06):
as good at defense as we have in this area.
I mean, that's two incredible units, So kind of take
that for what it's worth. This game's this game is
important for conference race, it's important for playoff points. But
I mean both teams just want to want to feel
good again, right, I mean TK, they're three points and
week one away from beating an undefeated Hastings team the
Arrival and then losing that close game to Calx Central.
So I think TK is a lot better than probably
going to give them.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Credit for all Right, gentlemen, here we go enjoy the
games tomorrow night. We've been looking forward to this week
six stock filled with games including muskeg And and Mona
Shores on the Lake Shore on one those seven m

play in the Okay Red. Thank you, gentlemen, we'll step aside.
(31:47):
We'll come back with more. You're listening to a week

Trinity Health High School Football page at ninety six to

Themoose dot com or Wood Radio dot com.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Well, as we told you, we got two great matchups
for our games of the week, brought to you by
Lake Michigan Crediting in week six. As we get down
the stretch, run here in the regular season and Jay
your game. You always look forward to it every year.
Lakeshore game is Muskegan at Muskegan Mona Shores and join
us right now in one of our two Montel Construction
coaches corners. Shane Fairfield, head coach of the Big Reds Coach.
(32:38):
What a last three weeks it's been for you guys,
and it really started with that trip down to Ohow.
We talk about with coaches lately that make those trips
like Mark Cisco and Byron Center going to Indiana. There's
really something as far as a bonding experience with that,
and you guys felt that right.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
Yes, sir, most definitely. It was a time for us
to get away at a time for us to spend
you know, five hours, six hours on a bus and
then hotel rooms and then meetings and then you know,
you play a game and then you spend another six
hours on their way home, so like two days trade
of just being with each other, and that was a
great experience.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Well, take us through this season a little bit if
you would. Obviously, like you always do, you load up
to schedule, so you open with Grandville and Rockford and
you start owing two. I mean, well, you could easily
win both those games four point games both ways. Now
you win three in a row. I mean you're three
and two. It's not necessarily as easy as you make
it look though. I mean, these are high school kids,
and when you lose a couple of games, like, things
can go the wrong way. But you guys didn't let
(33:35):
that happen. So how have you been able to kind
of get this going back the way you wanted to?
Speaker 6 (33:39):
Well, I think it's always just you know, the kids believing,
the kids being a part of There's like nine kids
on this team that were sophomores or freshmen and the
twenty three team that played in the finals, and we
started zero and two, and so now the seniors and
some a couple of juniors, and and they they kind
(34:00):
of just remember the experience, you know what I mean,
and being around that team and let we let them
know we're gonna play the best of the best that
we can in week one and two and are not
conference games because we want to make sure when you
get into conference play, you know who you are at least,
and you can have an opportunity to fix things right
away instead of you know, taking the thing of well,
let's play some easier ones to kind of get better
(34:22):
and then see what happens when you get into a slugfest. So,
you know, those are two games that we learned a
lot about ourselves, and no one wants to lose. But
those two games against Grahamville and Rock for we both
we had the ball at both those games when an
opportunity to win at the end, and we didn't play
our best football. We didn't tackle very well at times,
we had some penalties that hurt us. But to still
(34:43):
fight through that and then to get on a bus
and travel six hours to play a two and one
or three and old team stay old team at the
time and beat them there was good. And then now
we come back and then you dump played at the
Byron Center, and then you have Northern. It was a
really good football team, our standing quarterback. So our first
five games have been like, you know, like a playoff
(35:06):
run almost, and so that's kind of how we just
won at a time and now here we are sitting
at three and two and zero in the conference with
an opportunity to be three and zero.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
In legacy programs. I love talking leadership with coaches, and
you've had some great leaders that you've coached in that
big red program history, legacy championship, winning discipline. Who are
your leaders of this squad this year, coach.
Speaker 6 (35:31):
Well, it was definitely a junior who's been a three
year starter now with Carner Kitchen. He's done a great
job of being a leader ever since his sophomore year.
You know, freshman year he was along for the ride.
He started forcing the state finals and that now he
just really took to Jake and Destin and mackay and
McGill and those guys, and I think he took the
page out of their book of how to do things.
(35:52):
He just sat back and was quiet. Yeah, he was
six foot five and two hundred and twenty pounds, but
he just kind of backed in here and then just
to kind of listen to what those I had to
say to win about business and and so he's really
taking that on. And then of course we have Ernesto Poteo,
our left guard, who was he started in that state
finals game, but his brother was Miguil Potao, who was
a standing football player for US. So he's kind of
(36:14):
taken over that offensive line leadership as his brother did.
And I think he Kyshawn Drummer, uh was you know,
just Kyshawn and a j Holt are both you know.
Drummer's been playing lights out right now. And he was
a kid who came up in the as a sophomore,
started in the secondary in the state finals. But his
his you know, screensaver on his phone is Jake Price,
(36:37):
and he's just idolized Jake Price. And and uh when
one day when Jake and Denson were done with track
practice one day and I was like, man, who's gonna
be these guys in two years? And then before I
even could finish the sentence, uh, a j Holt who
is now back. He didn't play in the first two
games and Key Shawn both said me, I am, I'm
that guy. So then he said that two years ago,
(36:58):
and now they're kind of showing that right now. So
I think those are some guys really that are stepping
up and really taking the ranges. And there's several others,
but those are the guys that kind of just stick
out when you just watch the way they do things.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
That's hilarious. I mean we're talking with Shane Fairfield and
Miskeigan Big Reds football coach, sixteenth season leading Miskige and
I was just watching the Forestills Northern game recently, you know,
your game from last Friday, and watching Keyshawn Drummer running.
But he's he's just playing.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
So while I was.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Thinking, man, he reminds me of Jake Prices. That's high
praise that I want to I want to talk to
you about your quarterback, Lamar Bradford. You know, I mean
I think when I was at your game against Rockford
before he kind of got danged up a little bit
in that second half, you were kind of in control
of that game. But he's been back now and playing well.
What's what's he meant to your offense and your team
this season?
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Who's still learning tru So that's a scary thing is
that you know Friday, if you watch that game, there's
a three or four times in that game where there's
been this readson. It's unfair to our quarterbacks unlike some aers,
like we're gonna throw the ball ninety times, We're going
to turn a hand the ball off you, well, you're
we're a quarterback in the triple option offense. It is tough,
like a nine percent, teventy five percent or eight kind
of our offenses reading somebody. He's got to be a
(38:03):
point guard and be a ball distributor and make good
decisions with the football, and there's a lot of pressure.
I can wandered didn't play hardly at all last year.
He was a JV freshman quarterback coming up, but hardly
planned it all last year behind James, and then we
only had the eight games, so it wasn't like normally
we get those playoff games, so he gets extra work
in the playoff season and.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
That didn't happen.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
So he's really kind of had to grow up fast fast.
But he's a wrestler, So I think what helps us
as the fact that he is a resilient, tough kid
and he's used to being in the spotlight. He would
have went to the state finals. Last year. He was
up in his regional meet to send him to state
and he got body slams kind of illegal move and
hyper extended his elbow and had the Tommy Johnston a
little bit, and that wiped out his chance to go
(38:46):
into state. Wrestling, But that just tells you his toughness.
And then when you're you know, a lot of times
quarterbacks whore in the spotlight, you know, but you have
a whole team around you. When you're wrestling. You're only
do it out there on that matt with the light
on you, and there's going to blame. So I think
that helped him some of the ups and downs of
playing the quarterback for us is that he's used to
(39:06):
being in the spotlight and he can handle that pressure.
So he's got to other team trying to take his
head off. He's got us taking this head off because
he's making the wrong read and and to be resigning
to show up and still continue to play. And I
think you're going to continue to see him get better
and better because he is a resilient young man.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Muskegan Mona Shore's Week, you don't have to tell us.
We'll tell the fans right now. Is special. I know
it's special for the two schools. I know it's special
for the kids. But when you look at this edition
of Muskegan Mona Shore's Week, what do you see out
of the Sailors who are coming off a tough overtime loss.
At Byron Sin last week, a team that you handled
a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 6 (39:40):
Coach, Yeah, you can assist. Like the Michigan Michigan State thing.
Anytime you get something that's neighboring, you kind of throw,
you know, because you're all one. You just know each
other so well. So no matter if one team has
the most dominating team on paper, someone doesn't have such
a great dominating team on paper, and you're like, man,
they should get walloped.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
It doesn't happens just because.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Both coaching staffs know each other well. They know the alignments,
they know assignments, they know fronts, they know schemes because
you've that's all you've done for the last ten to
fifteen years is to play each other, and then you
play each other twice in the regular season because of
the playoffs. So you know, that kind of uh is
kind of wipes the talent thing out of the way.
It just comes down to execution and then who can
(40:21):
handle the biggest moment. But they do have, you know,
quite a few kids over there that can play. They
got three year starter running back and then you know
the quarterbacks to transfer in and and they have are
standing outside linebacker and number eight.
Speaker 7 (40:35):
So they do.
Speaker 6 (40:36):
They do a really good job. They're a system team.
That's why they're so successful year in a year out
is the fact that they yes they'll have talent one year.
Yes we'll have talent one year, but there's times we
don't have as much talent. But we just do a
good job of coaching and getting our kids in the
right position. So they always continue to do a great
job of getting their kids in the right positions. And
they just play hard. And there is another notch to this,
(40:58):
you know, I mean, so we always tell our guys,
you got to tight in the helmet one more notch,
you got to put one more buckle on that shoulder pads,
because this is going to be uh, you know, a little.
And then now you're playing with because you know, a
lot of these young men grew up together, a lot
of these young.
Speaker 4 (41:14):
These families work together.
Speaker 6 (41:15):
They they work in the communities together. And then this
is the kind that everybody had circled. You know, the
schedules come out. So but they're good ball club. Then
they have you know, they lost the tough one of
Graham Blank, they've handled everybody else. And then of course
they got the battle last week with Virate Center.
Speaker 5 (41:32):
All Right, coach helped me out with something here because
Brett and I come out on different sides of this one.
Brett is a big home field guy. I just don't
think it matters as much. Obviously, you guys love to
play at Hackley, but you've won the last five at
Mona Shores. I mean, is there anything to that? I mean,
do you guys don't relished the chance to go in
there and get a win because you've had a lot
of success on their field.
Speaker 6 (41:51):
Yeah, and it's it's it's weird and they won a
couple here, so it's like I almost want to play
over there. No, but uh no, it doesn't. It's uh
we definitely understand that. You know, the football, the state
final game is always played on the road. The semi
final game is always played on the road. You could
sometimes control we had three playoff games or not, but
our kids and with the experience and the tradition here
(42:14):
of having to play those games on the road, we
make that a point of emphasis that you're not going
to play your last game or your best game on
your home field. So what we do is we control
the fact that you want to win your last home,
play home game in high school at your stadium. So
there's a little point there. So when we play Union,
it's going to be our senior's last regular season home game,
and you really play hard to make sure that you
(42:36):
can drive by that stadium when you're thirty five, forty
five fifty five and say, on my last high school
game there, playoff game. We know the semis and the
finals are going to be played on the roads. You
have to be able to go play on the road
at somebody else's place and handle the crowd and handle
you know, the trip and getting off a bus and
the warm up and then you know the student sections. Uh,
(42:57):
And there's nobody that gets us better in that situation
then going to play Okay, red team like Granville at Rockford.
You know when you play in those stadiums, I mean,
it is lit. It is like exciting. So I think
our kids are used to those environments and that's why
I think we do well playing over there.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
Coach, that answers your question absolutely. Coach. Last question for me,
as you know, we like to throw kind of a
wild card question out there, and I've been thinking about
this with the schedule that you've played okay, and you
can't pick one of your own players, but just opposing teams.
Who has impressed you the most as a player that
you guys have played against this year?
Speaker 6 (43:33):
Who has well? Jay and Terry, I mean he was
as good as advertised. We kind of made things easy
for him at times, but there is no doubt that
when when I turned around and watched him play Againststech
as well, I think he is he is as good
as advertised. There's for several on each team. You know,
Viros Center has a bunch of hard nosed, great football players,
(43:54):
have a ton of respect for coach Cisco in that program.
But yeah, I think I think jayd and Terry, you know,
it would be one. I think the next kid that
we played against that was really good was her and
kid from Rockford. He's a gritty, tough both sides of
the football, and I think he could play more more
on the offensive side. But they don't have to use him,
but I think that would. I think he played a
(44:15):
little bit more of the other night on offense than
he has, but he's a really good football player going
into the last two years as well.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
We're looking forward to it. Six o'clock starts the coverage
on one oh seven mus The Moose, Jason and Tom
will be at Sailor Stadium, Muskegan and Mona Shoors for
the game of the week. Sane Fairfield, Hey, coach of
the Big Reds joining us this week is one of
our Montel Construction coaches Corners coach good to always catch
up good luck on Friday night. We appreciate the time.
Speaker 6 (44:40):
Hey, you guys are so awesome. And I'm not saying
that just because I'm talking to see you. I tell
that I'd say it some other time. But you guys, man,
everything you do and for years, not just now, but
for years and years and years, you guys have done
such an amazing job to covering high school football and
given so many young men an opportunity and exposure that
they deserve. And if it wasn't helping for you guys,
it wouldn't be as fun to do what we do.
So that's just so much an honor for me. That
(45:01):
is thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
We appreciate that, coach.
Speaker 6 (45:23):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
High school football fans don't forget wind Shoolers is a
Michigan tradition. So if your tail getting whether it's high
school Friday night or Saturday for college football, you can't
go wrong with any of Winds Schoolers four tasty cheese
spread flavors. You'll find them in the dairy section of
your favorite grocery store. And of course they're the proud

too our open rankings in our uptown Cheapskate Players of
the Week, What a week we had filled with touchdowns
(46:05):
with your game West Dottawa getting it done in a
nice victory their first in the year over granted even
thirty seven to sixteen. And then we had Belding put
up sixty points themselves in that Okay Silver matchup with
Holland sixty to twenty combined eighteen touchdowns just last week.
Times that by a fifty dollars donation every touchdown courtesy
of Lake Michigan Credit Union. We had nine hundred dollars
(46:28):
raised for Kids Food Basket. Thank you student athletes on
those teams. And that makes now our season total through
five weeks thirty three hundred and fifty dollars touchdowns for

That's all what Kids Food Basket wants to do in
(46:50):
West Michigan. All right, we mentioned that our games of
the week Hudsonville, Rockford, Miskegan at Mona Shores, But how
about our game reporters at other great games that we've
talked about Lolla, Kenley Hills with Bill Hopson, Holland Christian
East Grand Rapids are on Remy monahand will be there
with live reports Jennis Knick Grandville, the Cats and Dogs
with Mike Lee Oakridge at Whitehall, and the West Miskian
(47:10):
Conference with Scott de Camp and then Unity Christin at
Zealand A West covering the Lakeshore for US Lucas Simbol,
all within our broadcast coverage with Rick Burkey on Friday night.
You've said it, this was the week that everyone was
kind of pointing towards. Yeah, lots of great games. Probably
lots of these games are going to discrimine conference champions.
They're certainly going to carry a lot of weight when
it comes to playoffs points getting in not getting in.
(47:31):
So a lot of good football this week before we
go to your top ten rankings. First five teams in
my top thirteen I had three honnable mentioned last week lost.
I mean, that's how crazy it was in week five.
So definitely some shuffling coming up. And I think, what
four in your top ten.
Speaker 5 (47:46):
For my top ten got b So it was one
of those nights where we had some upsets.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
All right, So let's see what your top ten is.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
So Hudsonville number one, that has not changed all year.
I moved Rockford up to number two now with the
win over Grandville. They beat in easth Kentwin and Grandville
and Miskegan, so I go Miskeigan number three. People don't
like like that, Just that's the way it is for
East camp Wood five, Portage Central come around with the
ways of Brettakeet, I of including Portage Central six Unity
Christian happy to admit I was wrong about the Crusaders.
They're clearly a top team. Granville I keep in at seven,
(48:13):
and when we get to your top ten, I want
to ask you about that eight Byron Center. I bring
the Bulldogs back with that great one from Mona Shore.
Are sure they're two and three, but look who they
lost to teams that are ranked number one, number three,
and number four on my list. And then I have
Mona Shores at nine after the lost Barn Center, and
I have Grahamskyoch Central at ten.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
All right, so my top three are a little bit different.
I've got Hutsonville one like you did, and I've had
them there since the preseason. Unity Christian hops up to
number two for me at five. And oh so Imbrestol.
The Crusaders not just beating people. It's like last year.
I mean they're beating them convincingly, and they're doing it
with a lot of not starters necessarily from a year
ago because those senior starters they graduated. So kudos to
(48:50):
Craig Tibby and his coaching staff getting the job done.
Rockford is my number three team obviously, Rockford and Hutsville
so one versus three our matchup this week on ninety
six to one the game from Carlson Stadium, East Kent.
What is four for me right behind rock for the
team they lost to you. Then I've got Ported Central
five at five, and oh, Granville I drop down to
six after they're lost to Rockford twenty eight to Zip
(49:10):
and Home. Then Miskegan first time for me in my
top ten. They're number seven. Impressive win on the road.
At forestill's Northern. I think they're starting to catch that
big reds groove going into Mona Shores, so a good
time to catch it if you're Shane Fairfield and Miskegan.
Catholic Central is number eight for me at five and
oh still one of only three teams when you look
at the River Cities Alliance and Okay Conference just those
(49:31):
that are five, and oh, I know Luddington is in
the West Michigan Conference as well. Mona Shores dropping down
to nine after that overtime loss to Byron Center. Boy,
they just could not stop campaign. Huge night for the
running back for Byron Center, the junior five rushing touchdowns.
And then Zealand West here we Go wins the Bird
Bowl convincingly and they've always been there at number ten
for me, stay at number ten at four and one
(49:51):
upped out Cheapskate Players of the Week quickly, Jay, I'll
let you go.
Speaker 5 (49:54):
Yeah, I'm gonna go lyj Reynald Sorr. I just saw
him play for West Oddal last Friday night, coming back
from injury. Three five catches, eighty one yards, three touchdown catches. Dudes, legit,
I mean gamer like super pumped. He's going to CMU.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
I can tell you that I'm going Junior running Back campaign.
I mean, how can you not? Like I said before,
I didn't expect Byron Sentator to win that game. So
impressive on their homecoming. Twenty seven carries two hundred and
fifteen hours, five touchdowns, including the game winner in overtime
for Byron Centers of Campaign my Uptown Cheapskate player of
