Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is Game Night on WAXFM, Holland Grad Rapids ninety
six to one the game and iHeart Radio Station.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Welcome back to Ralphie Myers Memorial Stateium in Caledonia. Brett
Pikin along with Buck Gino, let's kick it over to
my partner right now before the opening kickoff and our
starting lineups. Here's our vandal Lot home improvement keys to
the contest.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
But I'll start with the Rams. They got to find
an identity, Brett.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
They just offensively have struggled the last two weeks, and
even the game we covered against Grahamville really didn't start
getting things moving until the second half. They've got a
simple simplify things, do what works, and build off of that.
For the Caledonia Scotts, they just got to get off
to a good start. I mean, the only loss they've
had they got off to a terrible start. But we
see when they get off to good starts both on

(00:50):
both sides of the ball, they're able to control the game.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Jack o'honan to kick it off.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Aaron Collins, a super sophomore wide receiver, takes on the
fly to five of the far sideline, picking his way
up the sideline across the twenty and nice return all
the way out to the twenty five yard line of
fighting Scotts of Caledonia, who lost the toss. Rockford deferred
to the second half. We'll start moving right to left
on your radio. Now, Gold at Jerseys tonight with the

(01:16):
purple numbers of the white trim. They've got the white
helmets with a fighting Scott on the side and they
are let out by their senior quarterback, returning starter from
year ago, number nine in Brody Betzer.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
And I also think that losing air, I'm sorry, winning
the toss for Rockford and not taking the ball, that
tells you where their mindset is right now, Brett usually,
Brent Cummins and Jason Rayland want that rock right off
the bat. Instead they defer, and now they're going to
try to get Caledonia a stop on.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
This first drive.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Read Vogler is the running back handoff on first in ten.
He's swallowed up immediately, nice John by the Rockford.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Defense will set that for you in a minute.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
For Caledonia up front and with the wide receiving corps,
they've got a lot of weapons. Parker Little is one
senior wide out five to eleven to one eighty Number
three Read Vogler is a guy that can catch the
football out of the back, but he's their primary running back.
Also a senior five eleven two ten. Aaron Collins one
of the talented sophomore seven touchdown gotches for Colins so
far this season through five games. The other one is

(02:10):
Lincoln senty six to one and five a.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Little bit bigger.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
They work him in the slot and we see him
now inside on the trips left to the Wine side
of the field. Second and ten, after no game Betser,
out of the pistol formation, takes this snap, has time
flix it out there looking for his sophomore receiver, Aaron
Collins with a catch, went over the Rams defender and
he's got it in rock for territory inside the forty
five down to the forty three yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Great protection for Betser, has a clean look and then
Colins just braced to the inside. It was supposed to
be safety helped, but he broke away and what a
throw by Betser, right on target to Kalins just.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Dropped into the bucket, flicked it over the top. What
a catch by Collins, went up in high point of
the ball. We have a rams defender down back inside
the Caldoni at twenty. We'll try to get an on that. Meanwhile,
over the top thirty two yards on the second play
from scrimmage, Betser to Aaron Collins, number one, the super sophomore,
first and ten fighting Scott's on the move.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
When talking to Derek Pennington this week and you and
I kind of conversed email with him, they have a
young offensive line. They lost a lot of big fellas
from a year ago, and he said, bets are so good.
He's a Tiffin University commit that you know what, I'm
going to throw the ball up a lot because wide
receiver is their strongest position.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Well, they went last year for a bruising running attack
with Brock Townsend and Derrick Pennington junior, but now they
have a wide open spread attack.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
And we kind of saw that last year they in the.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Rockford game that they played up there where they wanted
to run the football, but then when they got Dollan Brody,
Betser was able to throw the ball and do it
well and do it effectively. So we kind of thought
after coming into this year that that might be the case,
and indeed it is got a number for you on
that Rockford player down That was Braylen Ray, the defensive end.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Boy, they can't afford any more injuries.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
They've already got Sam Cummings ound, they got Kate Freeze
out to their starting linebackers.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Oh, they got one hundred guys.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Bright.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I think they have some backups.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
But you're right the injuries for Rockford and the depth
is now being tested in that defensive front seven because
as you mentioned, Sam Cummings going out for the year, now,
Brylen Ray being assisted to the sideline. They're getting banged
up and man, it's just tough to see. Hopefully Braylin's
able to come.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Back first down in ten, as he did walk off
with the help of the trainers, but was putting some
way down at first down in ten. Two buy receivers
each way for Brody Betzer out of the pistol, takes
a snap looking looking fires to his right. Gud a
man out there, single coverage college incomplete, pretty good defensive
coverage that time with Mikey to Kuiper over there defensively

(04:48):
to Kuiper going both ways second down and ten. Tonight's
Bandalon home improvement Keys to the Contest. Brought to you
by Vandalon Home Improvement with eighty years of the business.
Vandalion Home Improvement offers top notch contract or services to
customers West Michigan. Called six one six, six, six, nine,
eleven eleven for more details. Just Underway, Caledonia opening possession
of the ball game driving second down and ten. After

(05:09):
big play over the top at the Rams forty three
Rockford showing blitz. They've got four down linemen. Here comes
the pressure from the outside. They're gonna set up the
screen almost intercept a nice jime making a catch, hanging
on to it now and working his way back across
close to that first style marker inside the forty he's
down to the Rockford thirty five. A one handed catch
by Reid Vogler.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Boy thatcher Wilson was just kind of there and almost
got a big pawn and they run a little twist
game inside.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Wilson ends up in.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
The a gap and all of a sudden he's looking
at what's that ball doing here? Oh, it's going going
to the running back. He almost is able to get it,
but boy, it's a great playbayer by vogelar because that's
in traffic. He breaks one tackle and then picks up eight.
They kind of a busted play, but a nice job
by Vogelar the senior to get something.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Out of that.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Third and two for Caledonia from the Rockford thirty five.
This is the design quarterback on the delay and he's
got the first down spinning out of a tackle with
the thirty three is Betser to the thirty one yard line.
That'll move the chains needed a couple picked up about
four and Betser comes in as the leading rusher as
well in this spread offense for Derek Pennington and the

(06:16):
Fighting Scotts. When you look at his number, sixty two
carries in five games, coming in three hundred and fifty
seven yards and six touchdowns, he's responsible to twenty four
touchdowns so far, eighteen through the air for this cal offense.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, and then Brody, like you said, a tiff and
comment obviously on the radar of some other colleges as well.
You can see the talent there and also the size
and he's still got some room to grow too. Just impressive.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
First and ten from the thirty one of Rockford. Here
comes the delayed blitz rolling to his right avoids it,
Betser throws across his body complete at the sixteen. He's
got his man inside the fifteen, fighting down to the thirteen.
That's Senior Parker, little number three, first down in ten Caledonia.
You gotta love the composure of Betser in this offensive
line right now, holding up a little bit. They don't
need to give him a ton of time, but you

(07:01):
gotta give him some time. That time he bought a
little more time with his feet.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Well, they gave enough to kind of go through the progressions.
But then as you said, extends the play out to
the right and Little just finds a saft spot in
that big zone defense and Betser had the right there
an eighteen yard pickup on again, just a play that
didn't look like much from the start, but Betser did
a great job of improvising a little bit and letting

(07:26):
his receiver work open.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Rate Vogler to the right out of the pistol formation
of Brody Betser on first and tent inside the rams fifteen,
Betser takes a snap pressure throwing towards the corner and incomplete.
Isaac Poot was over there defensively, but that time, a
little miscommunication between Betser and Collins. Collins was going towards
the post, not towards the corner, and Betser throwing the fade.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Well, the other miscommunication, I guess it wasn't really a miscommunication,
it was lookout because yeah, there were three rams almost
right on top of Betzer as he threw the ball.
And I think he throws that went away because he
knows that's the least dangerous spot. But Randy Vanderven get
that blitzpiggot and he's turning it up because they rush.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Three, then they rush four.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
That time they bring six, and don't be surprised if
they continue with that level of pressure.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Lincoln sent to the sophomore in the slot left Layton
Fink wide left and now sent to in motion from
left to right. On second and ten, taking the snap
from center bets Or hand off. They keep it on
the ground, Vogeler carrying a would be tackler down to
about the ten.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Good hard running.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
By number four on the tackle for rock Ford defensively
that time was Corbyn Starkey, the defensive lineman, a senior,
and now we have an offensive lineman shaking up.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
It's Jackson Olan the guard and he'll boy umping off. Yeah.
I think he got rolled up on sixty senior.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
He's a good one too, and he's trying to limp
it off. Hopefully he'll be all right, but he's obviously
gonna have to come out for at least this play.
Leam Moore junior off alignement Coach Pennington tell us they're
very young there now. When they do use an h back,
it'll be Colton Sheely, number thirty. He's at junior five
to nine, one ninety five. Also on the offensive line,
Junior Cody Meyers sixty seven. Kay Spencer is a freshman

(09:14):
playing out the varsity offensive line six with two sixty
and then Brian Martin rounds out that front. Get a
lot of those guys were coming back next year getting
good experience this year. Junior sixty three to three hundred
is Martin third down and eight from the Rockford eleven
two wide receivers each way. Now the motion sent you
to the wide side of the field to make trips
that way. Betser takes a snap rolling that way, flushed

(09:34):
out of the pocket, throws across the middle up and incomplete.
He had it, but couldn't hang on. Good job by
the defensive back for Rockford to knock it away at
the last minute as he was looking for Parker Little.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Well, that's great coverage there by the defensive back. His
Betzer bailed out to the right side, and then his
receiver Little works across the back line and he tries
to find him there. But good defense there to knock away.
And now it's gonna be fourth down. It looks like
Bratt they're gonna go for it.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
That was Chase Pitch, by the way, number six, the
junior defensive back. They'll rotate a lot of people in
but Pitch one of those starters for this Rockford defense.
Starting LPs tonight brought to you by Sporting You Branding
your success since twenty twelve. They have what you need
to look your best. Check out their geart inventory online.
So fourth down, they're gonna leave the offense out there
going forth from the RAM eleven Lincoln SENTI in motion

(10:24):
left right. They work from the left hash just under
eight minutes left to go, opening quarter, Betsa throws back
across incomplete. They try to go a little misdirection that
time looking for Vogler and all over it for Rockford defensively,
he had him coming out of the backfield that time.
Was the linebacker Wyatt Colson, the sophomore.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
I like the idea there.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
I think with seventy yards to go, though, if you're
gonna go, if you're gonna go with that play, I
think you probably are better sure to try to get
in the end zone. I get where they're going there,
but that's just a great defensive play by the linebacker,
and Betser did a good job of dirting it there.
But boy, I kind of feel like they left a
little bit there because now it's zero zero and Rockford

(11:06):
has the ball again deep in their own territory, but
they've got some momentum.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
They work from their own eleven.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Man in motion left to right, Isaac Pooter's a home
run here over the left side, got a crease across
the twenty, breaks a tackle across the thirty. Still on
his feet, now down the sideline, Parker Little trying to
get the angle. He's not gonna hitside the twenty, inside
the ten, touchdown. Isaac Poot goes the house eighty nine
yards for the score and one of the keys.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Tonight buck Gea.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
We were talking about get the ball, the hands, the
number thirty four. He is electric folk, it's Isaac Poot.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
There's a lot of hats they sell.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I can't say one of the words, but it's run
the ball, yeah, and that's what they've got to do.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Get nasty, run the football.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Didn't think a ninety our touchdown was coming on the
first play from scrimmage, But man, that's a huge boost
to the Rams running the football and doing it well.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Every time we've covered in the last two years, Isaac Poot,
whether it's special teams, offense, getting the ball in the flats,
throwing it to him, he has come through as the
extra point is up and good and that time kicking
it through for Rockford, Chase Vote is back in. They're
the senior kicker. We did not see him. It was
a hone. And remember because due to injury in the

(12:16):
Granville game a few weeks ago. So seven thirty eight
left to go in the opening quarter here from Ralphie
Myers Memorials Stateium in Caledonia. What a turn of events.
The Rockford defense bends but doesn't break. Then the first
prey from scrimmage eighty nine yards for the senior number
thirty four Isaac poot tech on the extra point. They
leaded seven to nothing over Caledonia. It was seven thirty
eight left to go on the first We'll come back

(12:36):
with more after this. On ninety six to one, the game.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
This is the LMCU High School football Game of the Week.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
On ninety six to one, the game.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Repekita Bungino back here in Caledonia. Z o'honen kicks out
one inside the five trickles into the end zelling in
high school football. Automatic touchback, so seven thirty eight left
to go. Rockford defense gets a stop and then they
hand it to number thirty four, who just slices and dices,
spins his way through and then off to the races.
If you get behind him, you're not going to catch

(13:42):
number thirty four. Isaac boot eighty nine yards a one
play drive to the house, tack on the extra point.
Rockford leads at seven to nothing.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Oh I said they needed an identity, and part of
that was kind of getting back to basics. Well, it's
nothing more basic than off tackle left for ninety yards
down the field, and that's what they're able to do.
And now huge momentum swing both sides, not only stopping
caldoy on offense, but now getting that seven to nothing
lead early.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
And of course the strength of the Rockford offense, even
Brent Cummins and staff will tell you that offensive line
they look like it. There they swing it out complete
on a little curl route to Vogler in traffic, but
makes the catch at the twenty four, dropped right there
by this Rockford defense. They'll give him forward progress to
the twenty five, so a gain of five second and five.
Let's set that defense for you very active. We mentioned

(14:29):
Chase Pitch on the outside one quarter made that nice
play knocking a way in the end zone. Riley Well
number four is the other. Isaac Poters won safety, Luca
Hearn the other. And I tell you what, You're not
going to get a better safety Paer than those two
in the West Michigan area. Kyle Hoffman is an outside
linebacker along with Andrew Hamilton number thirty nine inside. Why
Colston reed, Benny, they've really been hurt with injuries there.

(14:50):
Sam Cummings has been out since the preseason starting linebacker
at junior returning, didn't get a chance to playing in
Kate frees and they kind of move him around.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Is out for this game as well.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
In trouble is Betser avoids a defender going back to
the way to buy some time and now why is
he just gonna throw it out of bounds and throw
it away? Did have an attended receiver Lincoln Sentee in
the area. So incomplete good pressure by Rockford defensively. Third
and five coming up for the fighting Scotts.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
So they drop into a four man front there they
bring Andred Hamilton down puts his hand in the ground
and lines up as a true defensive end, and that
kind of messes up the blocking scheme because Rockford traditionally
a three man front with the linebackers, and now they
drop into a four man front. And that was not
good blocking by Caledonia. As part of it's because of
the confusion that they had. And then a great job

(15:37):
by Betser to not get sad. I mean, he was
backed by the five yard line and he had to
do some fancy footwork just to get that ball into
the sideline.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Good news Braylan raiinn number ninety seven, we see back
out there in the far defensive van and he now
will try to get pressure on Betser, swings it out complete,
got the first down. Nice job up the sideline. Aaron
Collins with another grab. He's across the thirty five out
to the thirty needed five picked up eleven, move the change,
and I tell you what bets are another strike?

Speaker 3 (16:05):
What I like about those?

Speaker 2 (16:06):
A nice soft ball, but right in the bread basket,
so as wide receivers can turn and get those yards
after the catch.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Well, it throws it to him in stride, and so
many times where receiver receivers try to go against the
grain right they catch it and they want to spin
to the inside. Well, if you're throwing it right there,
there's no reason to spin to the inside. You just
take the momentum, get up the sideline and get what
you can. And that's exactly what happened there with Collens.
Nice pitch and catch on third down.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Cow's leader receiver coming in twenty one catches through five games,
three hundred and forty yards and seven touchdowns, first down
and ten trips left.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
They work for the right hash take the snap.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
His bets are now steps up in the pocket, scene
keeps his eyes down field, feels the pressure and just
gonna throw that one away coming late that time, as
he realized he might run the football with Hambleton, the
senior linebacker to have contained on the far sideline incomplete
as he threw it out. So second and ten coming
up for Caledonia.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
You're a dam brody.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Betzer looks like a dad trying to avoid the kid's
legos at night. That's how he scrambles around the pocket.
He doesn't stay in one place more very often and
very long at a time. But boy, he just so
mobile and nimble and again he just throws that ball
away and people out incomplete pass. But boy, I mean,
that's a lot of work there. Obviously, the Rams want
to get pressure on him, and they've been able to

(17:23):
get to him, but they have not been able to
take him down because of Betser's es capability.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Reid Vogler offset to the left of bets Are on
second and ten working for their own thirty six three
wide receivers left one right, want to set up the
bubble screen coming back to make the Cats trying to
get to the outside and dropped at the forty for
a short gain of four. Nice job of coming up
and a quick tackle by the safety Isaac Poot as
it was complete that time to light and think. So

(17:48):
third and six coming up now for Caledonia. Just under
five and a half to play in this one seven
to nothing. Rockford over Caledonia in the opening quarter.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
When they get those short routes, you can see the
rock still the team speed on defense. Poot coming all
the way from the safety spot to make the tackle
on that short screen. But that's what they're gonna have
to do, is to get that pressure down a little bit.
Those short routes have to be available, but it's a
really nice job there by.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Poot to seal it off and just minimize the impact.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Empty backfield, three wide receivers to the right, white side,
the field too to the left. Betser takes a snap,
sets fires incomplete, looking for the short out that time
off the fingertips, timing just off to Aaron Collins, and
that's gonna bring up fourth down in California's gonna send
out the punt team with five oh seven left to
go with the first This opening quarter being brought to
you by Straight Line Fence, a fencing company and Grand

(18:37):
Rapids with a personal touch, offering both residential and commercial
fencing projects serving central, Northern and West Michigan from the
Lake Shore to Lanstin to Traverse City. Call today for
your free estimate at six one, six, three four four
twenty nine or visit Straight Line Fences dot com. Punt
Team out gets it off Aaron Collins a quick kick

(18:58):
and all that hit the back of a punt team
member for Caledonia. So not a live football and they're
gonna mark it dead where it hit him at the
thirty six yard line of Rockford, So not a big
net gain there for the punt team.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
No, and that one almost blocked as well, almost being
the operative word, but still not a great punt. And then,
like you said, Brad, it hits a cal gunner in
the back and really takes away any role that they
might have gotten. So Rockford getting pretty darn good field
position to start the second drive of the contest.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Reid Vogeler is there, leading tackler, the linebacker coming in.
He's a senior starting both ways. Thirty eight total tackles
coming in one I in t as well as this
Caledonia defense trying to answer her down seven to nothing
after the stop by Rockford defensively Braydon Daniels designed quarterback
keeper nothing much there, good second effort to get out

(19:49):
across the forty to the forty two gim McGain of
three second down and seven. You also have Parker little
in there, goes both ways late and Fink two defensive backs. Rivers,
New Island's a guy to keep an eye on. He
was injured a lot last year six one, two twenty.
This guy will tackle his mom coming into the stadium.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Yeah, and you look at we talked about injuries last
year Caledonia had some real key injuries in Keyspots. You
talk about river swallowing being one, and.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
That's now something that Rockford is having to deal with.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Braydon Daniels now fires to Mikey to Kuiper and he's
immediately sandwiched by two cal defenders after a short gain,
little curl route inside is the motion to man that
way to flood the zone to the wide side, and
he's got it at the forty four, but he's gonna
be a good five yard short. So third and five
coming up for this Rams offense, I'll see if junior
quarterback Braydon Daniels can get it done here. Remember only

(20:41):
one offensive touchdown last week, and that loss to Jennison.
The other one came from the defense.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
This is where Daniel's feet can help extend the play
a little bit. If it's going to be a pass,
I don't imagine it'll be something deep down the field,
but just got to be careful for Caledonia that one
single safety is trying to help on that wide side to.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Kuiper motion right to left. They like to run the
jet sweep. Daniels pump fake throws across.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
The middle, intercepted when he pump fake.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
That gave the safety time to come up and makes
the pick that time at the midfield stripe coming in
there for Caledonia to pick it off was Colin Kowatch,
the senior linebacker six ' three one ninety five playing
more of a safety position.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
They are, well, they bring me to the Kuiper in motion,
so that means the safety keys down. Coach rotates up
high and then Daniels, like you said, he kind of
double clutches there. It's open, but that little double clutch.
Let's coach step in front of the football. A big
turnover after Caledonia had to turn it over and they
get the ball at midfield. This is a big momentum.

(21:41):
We now can cal take advantage.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, I said pump fake, but you were right, partner
double clutch. It's like he wasn't sure that he thought
about it and then tried to fire it in there
and thread the needle picked off by Coatch. First down
and ten sentient motion left to right forms three wide
receivers that way bets are looking now gonna jump it
off to Senti's open makes a man miss up the sideline,

(22:03):
got the first down, dashing across the forties into Ram
territory at the thirty eight move the chains first in
ten and that's what Lincoln sent he could do. He's
got pretty good size as a sophomore. When you look
at his numbers, he goes six, two, one, five.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, he's kind of that big bulky receiver.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
You know. You can make the catch and then deal
out some punishment, get extra yards that way. But again
Betser extending the play. Rockford getting good pressure that time,
nearly eight rushed four but still had good penetration, and
Betser just getting minces out there and finds his receiver
Senti sitting there in the little zone and pops it
open for twelve.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
That's what Betser does so well.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
It's not just his arm, but by the legs and
the feet, just doing a great job of extending plays.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Stops the clock three twenty nine left to go open.
He quarters seven nothing. Rockford mcal on the move again.
Remember they took it in the red zone their first series.
Wants to go over the top.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Aaron Collins and came with the high ball. Did he
get a foot in bounds?

Speaker 2 (22:59):
He did good coverage that time by the Ram defender.
But Aaron College just a better receiver that time. Hauling
in the catch at the seventeen.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
I mean, you can't put a ball any more perfectly
than what Brody Betcher just did. That's a tremendous thrill
for a college player, much less a high school player.
And Betser just drops it right in the bucket and
then Collins it's a Goaji gu a g I go
up and get it, young man. That's a great catch
by Collins on the sideline against.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
A real good safety as we know in junior Lucahart.
I mean, that's great coverage by Luca Hearn. What else
do you want to do? Right?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
First down to ten, two wide receivers each way in
the red zone again, Caledonia for the second time tonight
sent you in motion design. Quarterback keeper bets It with
a stiff arm, gets some help from a linebacker coming
up for a short game for Rockford.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Defensively, they flow so well to the football.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
But he takes it inside the fifteen to the fourteen
yard line. They'll take that gain of three second and
seven as we roll under three minutes left to go
in the opening quarter. Beautiful night for football here. Ralphie
Myers Memorial Stadium, one of our favorites here in Caledonia,
and right now the fighting Scott's trying to either tie
this up with a touchdown and with a two point
conversion could take the lead against their arrival Rockford. We

(24:08):
talked about how big this is, last time Rockford has
lost three games consecutive in the season. He got to
go back to two thousand and two all Okay red
teams then too, with West Ottawa, East, Kentwood and Granville
in the mix. Second down and seven from the RAM
fourteen they work from the right hash two wide receivers
each way for Brody bets So the senior quarterback over

(24:29):
one thousand yards coming in through five games and eighteen
touchdown passes. Betser sets his feed fires over the top
two tall for Collins. Good coverage by A Hearn at
the goal line.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Yeah, Hearn jammed him up a little bit there, and
then bets Are knowing that the pressure was coming. He
didn't really have a lot of room over there, pretty
heavily populated by RAM defenders, so he just guns it
out of bounds and comes to play another day and
another third down here in the red zone for Caledonia.

(24:58):
This is gonna be again seventy yards. Do they try
to get it in two plays or do they just
try to take another shot there at the end zone.
That looks like that was the shot they took the
last play. And now bringing in the play a little
bit slowly is Petzer from coach Pennington.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
You heard him in the scoreboard show and stay with
him a halftime for live game report updates. Rick Burke
back of the studio. Look at the slate of games
we have for Still Central at Zealand West with Lucas
cymbol Kenaway, Hills at Lowell with Boll Hopson Grandbled, He's
kent within in the Oka red with Doug Redford all
coming up with the whole Stepson physical therapy.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Halftime show.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Third and seven from the fourteen bets are in the pocket,
now flushed out, we'll into his right trying to buy
some time.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Look out and ballpops loose. He was trying to get
rid of it.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Dangerous, but they say incomplete and all over him that time.
Coming in with the pressure was Corbyn Starkey, the defensive lineman.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Well, they're gonna talk about intentional grounding. Yeah, I'm just
gonna say there was no one in the area. I
mean he was getting bear hugged and he tried to
throw it for I mean, really, the net is the same.
It was going to be down to twenty four and
fourth down, or it's an intentional grounding penalty where it's there.
The difference is now the enforcement of that penalty. But
Betser just tried to make something happen again with it

(26:11):
being third down, and now really they're kind of forced
to go for it. Now they're gonna mark it off yep,
because they have to enforce it from the spot, and
then it's lots of down five yards and a loss
of down.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
So now it's gonna be fourth down ball at the
twenty nine of Rockford. They can get inside the eight
yard line, they get to the seven, they'll pick up
the first down. And that's where that comes into play,
is that that five yard penalty.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
It's already a big loss on the sack, but now
I mean they really going for it's probably the best
course of action because it's fourth and twenty two from
almost the thirty yard line, So now you're pretty much
forced to go for it. You can't punt in the field,
goals out of questions.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Remember Jack Snolan on offensive line is out still on
the bench here with the injury, and now Rockford can
burn a time out as their defense accorded it like
what he saw with Cali doing so they'll talk things over.
Time out of the field will step aside as well.
To sixteen left to go with the first Rockford seven
Caledonia nothing. You're listening to a Week six edition of

in twenty two, Caledonia from the Rockford twenty nine, trailing

(28:21):
seven nothing to the Rams.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
They go with a four wide receiver set. Bets are
looking for the single coverage.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
On the far side, got his man out there, but incomplete.
They have the single coverage they wanted, but too far
for Layton Fink and that Rockford defense comes up with
another stop buck Gino.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
And I think Betser probably once that went back because
he threw it just a little bit early. Fink was
behind the defender, had a step and then Betcher just
led him a little bit too far and ends up
turning the ball over on downs again.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Don't forget our Lake short game of the week we
flexed out this week a good one. Jason Hutting and
Tom Kender with a call over at Cougar Stadium, Grand
Rapids Catholic Central in that lou Look okay, Black division
two to zero in division play, coming in four and
one overall, taking on un beaten Holland Christian.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
What a story with the Maroons.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Maybe at East Graham Rapids last week by one to
get to this point, Buck Gino.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
I think Catholic Central really now finally getting into the
meat of their conference schedule.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Bradon Daniels hand off Isaac pot He's got an eighty
nine yard touchdown. Look out trying to get to the outside,
almost broken ankle tackle. He might have been off to
the races again as he's across the forty out to
the forty four, maybe saving a touchdown that time for
Caledonia was Ben Geerdis, the sophomore linebacker six three one
point eighty five and Isaac poot Out running again.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Unfortunately, that fifteen yard carry drops his average tremendously.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
But boy, I'm telling you he's so why are we not?

Speaker 4 (29:45):
I mean again, you can't run the same play every time,
but boy thirty four needs to touch the football.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Playfake to him.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Daniels rolling to his left under some pressure and look out,
ball knock loose from behind and Caledonia comes up with it.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
He just didn't get rid of it.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
And chasing him down that time from the backside was
Rivers Swanland. We talked about him, he's just a playmaker
on defense. Another turnover against this Rams offense and Caledonia
good field position again.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Remember the interceptions at the midfield stripe.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Now they get a fumble recovery at the midfield stripe
first in ten fighting Scott's.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
There, I think Daniels, that's kind of the youth there
decision wise.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
He felt in coming to me, he knew he was there.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
I mean, it wasn't a surprise and River Swindland just
caught up to him. I think that's again, that's just
trying to make a little bit too much out of
what's there. Just gotta live to play another day, and
instead Swindland knocks it out of his hand in Caledonia
getting another opportunity.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
How about to speed for the senior is now Brody
Betts are trying to run left and nothing do it
against this Rams defense. They're gonna drop for a loss
back at the forty six of Caledonia, and I tell
you what, they had a couple of guys there defensively,
but big number fifty eight. Rock for was one of
the first guys that stood him up, and that's Statue Wilson.

(31:04):
You called his name earlier. Buck go the senior up
front grand penetration.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Well, and again with bramlon Rey going out due to
that injury, they've cycled in some new kids and up
front there of course Corbyn Starkey the noseguard talked about
him quite a bit in the last game, and they're
starting to cycle guys and again they're going that four
man front, which is kind of changed what Caledoni needs
to do.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Loss of four second and fourteen Betser throws a strike
across the middle can plate inside the rock for forty
five to the forty four, going to his knees to
make the catch with Parker little so he gets the
four yards loss with a sack back plus six more
gate of ten sets up a manageable third and four
year final thirty seconds of this opening quarter.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
Yeah, I don't know if they're gonna run this play
all the way down or if they need to snap it,
but either way, a big third down for Caledonia.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Haven't converted one since the first drive, need to pick
up one here.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Yeah, showing a four man front coming in late.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Here's the linebacker blitz. They pick it up.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Betser fires out complete sent he got the first down
inside the forty two guys over there, but they kind
of miscommunicated. A nice job by Betser, delivered a strike
right on the break that's almost uncoverable.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
And then knocking him out was.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Wyat Coulson, the sophomore linebacker for Rock not before he
picks up a Caledonia first down first in ten fighting
Scotts from the Rockford.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Thirty eight boy, a big pickup for the Scotts. There
can't leave all this on the table. I mean they've
give me the ball in midfield twice. You've been in
the red zone the other time. I mean, at some
point you gotta start cashing in.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Seven to nothing Rock for two wide receivers each way
for Caledonia handoff, they keep it on the ground. Number
four read Vogler over that right sign, find some running
room down to a bout. Let's see where they spot him.
Thirty seven with forward progress gained him only a yard.
Seemed like he got more and that will take us
to the end of the first quarter. So twelve, but
it's in the books of this week six edition, an

(33:02):
OK read battle between Rockford and Caledonia. Our score rams
seven fighting Scott's Nothing. We'll come back with second quarter
action after this on ninety six y one The Game.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Hey give two second eight to start the second quarter?

Speaker 2 (34:30):
What a cat's Lincoln Senny going up high in traffic
and hauls it down from Brody Betzer. That'll be a
first down inside the ram twenty five to the twenty
three yard line. Nice pick up that time of thirteen
and bets are again with it, flick of the wrist,
just picking apart.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
This ram secondary And I can't tell you, Brett, how
many touches from Cal have just been closely contested. But
there's nothing the defenders can do that time. Seansy just
goes up and gets it on top of the defense.
It's pretty good coverage and Betcher just places it right
where he needs to and Scenti does the rest.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
You've talked about it, and they've done a great job
of schooling these young wide receivers up to go get
the football, high point the football, and help out your quarterback.
You saw out there from CENTI first down and ten
they set up the bubble screen. Coming back inside and
inside the twenty found his blockers down to the Rams
sixteen yard line. That's Laton Fink and it's almost like
a handoff if you will, with lineman blocking as they

(35:27):
swing it out.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
He had a couple of blockers.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
There is a late penalty flag down at about the seventeen,
so let's see what this is about.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
It's in the middle of the field, so it could
be a lot of things. Could be a man down field,
I say, I was bet on man down field, or
a hold right. It's probably the spot that's in the
spot where those are probably the most common ones. But
we'll find out here.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Oh personal file the defense never mind, that'll be half
the distance to the goal after the play, and they're
gonna say the line of scrimmage was the sixteen where
he ended up, so they'll take it down to the
eight first in goal.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Well, it clearly was something away from the ball because
Fink was tackled and that was normal. I mean that
was just a regular football player. So well, clearly it
was something in the middle. But that's a tough penalty
to take because now he gets them automatic first down
inside the ten, first and goal.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Look at the atmosphere with the heel to our right
packed here at Ralphie Myers Memorial Stadium. Hometown crowd would
like to go nuts here because as you mentioned, Buck,
you know this is cash in time. If you're Caledonia
down seven nothing inside the Rams ten, fresh set of downs,
first and goal. Lincoln sentny motion right to left wide
side of the field, going that way, throws it up
for grabs. Ooh, that was dangerous looking for Aaron Collins

(36:38):
knocked away at the goal line, but bets Are just
kind of drifting to his left, floated that one out there.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Yeah, that's not and he'd probably tell you the same thing,
that's not what you want to do there, drifting and
then kind of leaves it behind a Hearn who was
the defender on that plane. He probably had a better
chance of getting it than Collins did, is it floated
away from Collins at the goal line, and I think
Betser would have been better served there to set his
feet and his wet one rip, yeah, Hern to knock
it away. But now they get away with that one

(37:05):
and the second down. But I mean Rockford defense standing
tall when it gets to crunch.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Time, trying to help out this offense that said trouble
last couple of weeks. Thus loss is generating offense. Ten
forty five left to go, first half, seven to nothing
in Rockford, Caledonia knocking on the door again, trips to
the left, Senny looking right, excuse me, and a penalty
flag comes out near the offensive line. I thought there
might have been a little contact early on senni as

(37:32):
the ball coming in from Betser, But it is going
to be a hold on the initial flag up front.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
This is gonna be an interesting one because it'll make
it second and eighteen, so still first down. I think
that's the right call there. It would have been third
and eight had they actually.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
It should be second down because remember they had the
incompletion right.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
But I'm saying that's what I'm saying, second and eighteen,
right versus third and eight. I mean what that does
now is it probably takes field goal a little bit
out of the equation, makes them work a little bit
harder to get to a scoring position.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
But from their standpoint, the way they throw the football
gets a little more room to operate.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
This would be a good This would be the time
for the screen, not from the ten, but from almost
the twenty. That's the spot to do.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Two wide receivers each side. Bets are out of the
pistol four masony go middle screen, all blown up nicely
as coming in defensively. He read it all the way
on the screen, trying to jump it off that time.
Why Att Colson, the sophomore linebacker, and they're gonna lose
yardage to the twenty, a loss of two trying to
get that one to the running back that time, and

(38:40):
that was read Vogler.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
I mean, that's where you run around the screen.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
That's just a heck of a play by Wyatt Colson
sniffing that one out, recognizing it early and doing a
great job. If he doesn't make that tackle, there's a
whole lot of room for the receiver to take the
ball up field. But that's a wonderful play by Colson. Now,
third and goal from the twenty, Brett boy caled Dowion's
gotta find something here, I think.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
In SENTI in a tight slot left. Bets are looking
right though for the corner, got a man out there
and too tall for Aaron Collins.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
There was safety help with putin late, but he could
have got it in there.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
He'd love to have that one back and Collins just
couldn't quite get to it incomplete. So now fourth down
and Ken Rockford defensively hold again. I think there are
they going to try a field goal? Well, they're bringing
a whole bunch of new people in. Yeah, they'll send
it out the kicking team. So I think Derek Pennington saying,
you know what we've been down here, guys, let's try

(39:36):
to get some points out of this. With nine to
fifty left to go first half, and it's gonna be
bets A into hold. Its Siler he and Brody Siler
the senior kicker.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
He's the pat field goal.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
It's going to be a thirty seven yard attempt from
the twenty seven as will. They'll spot it down snap
a little high. Nice job by Betser to get it
down and that one deflected.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
That's a live football.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
I don't think Caledonia really they're gonna go up the
far sideline. Rockford's got the return on still going up
the sideline into Caledonia territory, still on his feeding. Finally
the last man, the kicker that could get him does
inside the Caledonia thirty five to the thirty one yard line. Well,
the fighting Scott's Special teams just fell asleep there credit Rockford.

(40:19):
They realized that was a live football, stay in play
in a nice return all the way back to the
Caledonia thirty one.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Well, Luca Hearn, very aware and very smart, just runs
the football. I mean, heck, half the Rockford guys didn't
know it was a live ball, right either, because they're
dancing around after they get the block. But the Luca Hearn,
he knew the score, he knew what to do, got
the ball and ran up the sideline and then kind
of what we saw. And the last time that we

(40:47):
had Rockford player, remember that with the blackfield goal, right,
they pick it up, and this time, same thing with
Luca Hearn picks it up and runs down the sideline
and now great field position for the Rams.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
And here's the confusing part. I think why people stopped.
It was blocked, but it went forward, It went past
the line of scrimmage. Is now they pitch it out
to Poot. Poote cuts it up inside the twenty five
and down with a first down to the twenty yard line.
Good blocking in front, but Isaac Poot just runs so swiftly,
doesn't even look like he's moving, and then before you know,
he's got eleven yards like that time, first down in
ten already an eighty nine yard touchdown on the first

(41:19):
play from scrimmage for Rockford offensively on the board, thus
the difference in our game for Poot. He'll stay in
the backfield to the left of Braydon Daniels. It's been
their best play so far tonight. Two wide receivers right,
one left, gift to Poot on the delay. Picks his
way down inside the fifteen, still on his feet, he's
a big, strong back as well, fights his way down
to the twelve yard line, and just like that book,

(41:40):
you know.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
He's got a gain of eight mores.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
We wind un a nine minutes left to go, first half.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
Run the ball.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
I mean, that's what you gotta do. Isaac Poot's a
tremendous athlete. Yes, they know he plays mainly defense, but boy,
you just feel like if you can just get him going,
that can open up other things. In the past game
later on, but right now, Rockford just wants to hit
him in the face.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Hand off poop makes the first man missing the backfield,
backing his way with that big offensive line and downside
of ten down to the six yard line before they
push him back.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
And let's give credit where credit is due.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
And they talked about to us in the preseason, the
strength of this football team is this offensive line. They're
all gonna be playing college football eventually somewhere when they're done.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
That's Nolan Miller the.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
Left tackle, Gage Max In the left guard. Then you've
got Aiden Rivers the center. He's the small one, he's
the little brother of the group. Then Dawson the plant
the right guard, and big Sane Panchula the right tackles
and Vision one recruit all these guys going anywhere from
about two point fifty to about two eighty eight thirteen
and ticking left to go Rockford trying to add to

(42:45):
their lead mike Y Kaiper they fake the Jets sweep,
Daniels runs underneath that spins out attack of the five,
still fighting his way down to about the two yard line.
Nice run by the junior quarterback Daniels, and here we
go second in goal coming up for the Rams.

Speaker 4 (43:01):
Some defensive changes for Cal don is they're getting some
more weight upfronts as they're bringing in the big package.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Yeah, look at how tight it is with that offensive
lineup front with the splits for Rockford handoff left side. Oh,
nice job on the penetration. That's Chiley knifing through there.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
Yeah, it's a great play got Poot because it looks
like Pool's gonna try to do the leap, trying to
get over the pilot.

Speaker 2 (43:23):
Riley submarined him. She Ley one of those guys it
goes both ways. I mentioned you'll see him as an
h back but also on linebacker. At five to nine
one put together offset eye, they go left side. Poot
spins out of.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
A tackle and walks into the end zone for six.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Isaac poot is second rushing touchdown of the night and
Rockford now leads at thirteen to nothing with seven thirteen
left to go, extra point up coming.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
Boy. Just impressive there by Rockford not only getting the
stop on Caldonia the third time that Cal has been
in the red zone and they have no points, but
then the blockfield goal return, the heads up play by
a Hearn sets that up for a short field and
they take advantage.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
All on the ground.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Chase Void on to try the extra point. Snap is
a good and hold us down, kick us on the
way and not a ton of leg and he missed.
It's kind of Chip shoted it and pushed it right.
So is seven thirteen left to go first half. Our
score remains Rockford thirteen, Caledonia. Nothing you're listening to this

(45:58):
back to work. And if you're just tuned in, it's
not like Caledonia hasn't moved the football down the field.
They've been in the red zone quite a bit. They've
also forced two turnovers, a fumble, recovery and interception. Be
yet Isaac Pout, they haven't had an answer for number
thirty four on the other side, running the football for Rockford.
Thus the Rams lead at thirteen to nothing. Betser pistol

(46:20):
formation trips to the white side of the field, right
rolls that way, fires got him in out there. It's
complete Collins trying to fight off a would bey tackler.
Can't do it, but out to the twenty eight yard line.
Isaac put doing on both ends as he had to
tackle there. But Aaron Collins has gotten separation and Betser
has done a great job of me his completion percentage
very high in this first half.

Speaker 4 (46:42):
Yeah, and the ones that he's missed on typically have
been throwing the ball away because of pressure. Height had
a ton of incompletion the last drive. He had a
couple there that he probably would like back. But man,
I mean, Rockford just getting timely stops, timely pressure and
they're up thirteen to nothing when this game really feels
like cal Doni has carried the play but have not

(47:03):
been able to cash in on the opportunities they've been afforded.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
And as you mentioned earlier, as the receivers have helped
him out with some nice catches as well in tight
coverage second and short from their own twenty six bets
r under Durests tries to step up and oh boy,
dropped right there, went down kind of awkwardly, but in
on the play that time for Rockford again was big
number fifty eight that statue Wilson and also coming from

(47:28):
the backside and kind of got there as well, was
Jonathan Cleefish.

Speaker 4 (47:34):
Rockford's cycling in guys keeping him fresh. And again I
talked about this four man front. They've really kind of
messed up Cal's line calls because they're used to that.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
Three to four that Randy Dandervene three four defense.

Speaker 4 (47:47):
They spend all this time preparing for it, and what
does Randy do well, He just drops a linebacker down
as a traditional defensive end on one side or the other,
switches up the gaps and the responsibility as a ploy.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
They've been doing a of a job up front.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
Looking on the bench here for cal Doony maybe getting
to breathe, but read Vogeler is not in there in
the backfield. Bets are now under the rest again, flushed
out of the pocket. We're going to his right, gonna
throw back across his.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Body and what a catch close to that first time marker.
I think he's got it.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
Lincoln SENTI you're gonna mark him short though oh at
the twenty nine came back to the football.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
Luca hern didn't think he had it.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
He was thinking incompletely hit the turf, but they say no,
the catch is good, but it's short, and so I
think Derek Pennanck has no choice and he will send
out the punt team here down thirteen to nothing. You
don't want to give Rockford a short field with four
in change left here in the first half.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
I mean I would have gone for it. And the
reason why is Rod forgets the ball to start second half.

Speaker 3 (48:43):
Brett.

Speaker 4 (48:43):
Now you're giving him a two fir. I understand though
it's on your twenty nine. If you don't make it,
you really gotta you gotta, you gotta answer.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
Just a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
Here's the other reason I might not kick an there.
Guess who's back there thirty four. Don't necessarily kick it
to him where he can return it. Line drive kick
great rolls inside the thirty on this turf, inside the
twenty steel rolling and down at the seventeen yard line.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
What a job by Aaron Collins.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Not only did he kick it away from thirty four
so there's no return, he got about a fifteen to
twenty yard gain on the roll to put Rockford deep
in their own territory.

Speaker 4 (49:18):
Well, and I think also Rockford didn't quite trust what
they saw and Poo wasn't in natural receiving position. I
kind of had to backpedal there as soon as it
was obvious that Collins was indeed punting, so wasn't in
great position. But that's a nice punt, like you said,
by Collins, just to get it down there out of
the way, non returnable, and that really helped them flip

(49:39):
the field now, and that's something that if they can
get the ball back, they've got all three timeouts.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
They can get the ball back, they get a shot.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Keep in mind the Caledoria defense has forced two turnovers,
one I and T against Daniels. One a fumble recovery
off of Daniels trying to scramble knocked away from them
first down at ten to Kuiper. They bring in tight
right side, delayed handoff and Daniels nowhere to run as
he faked the handoff and kept it himself.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
Good job of the defense on the near side.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
One of the first guys there for Caledonia was Colton
Sheeley to drop him after a short game, they'll give
him forward progress back to the eighteen gate of one
second and nine, coming.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Up with the Rams and not knowing what play series
it is.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
I don't know who he's reading, but that was pretty
well defensed by Caledonia. I don't know if he gave
it to the running back if they would have gotten
much there either, But Daniels tried to get what he could.
But it's a great job by the cal defense. Rallying
to the ball.

Speaker 3 (50:33):
Daniels now quick pitch, trying to go wide Poot.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Poot just glides his way out look out across the
twenty five to thirty and tries to spin away from
a tackle on the secondary. Couldn't do it at the
thirty five yard line, though He's got a fresh set
of downs coming the way for Rockford to stop. That
time defensively was Ben Geartis for Caledonia first and ten,
And how good his number thirty four been the senior tonight.

(50:58):
Isaac Poot headed to Grand State next year to play
for the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (51:01):
I mean, that's just cracked toss and poot tremendous speed
to the outside makes him pay.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Braydon Daniels now under duress and good john by Caledonia.
They hit him behind the line of scrimmage. Daniels just
tried to fight forward. He's a tough kid, low, strong
to gravity build and just fought his way across the
thirty five. Got some positive yardage, not much out to
the thirty seven. Second and eight clock continues to wind
up the three minutes left to go first half thirteen
to nothing. Rockford over Caledonia on the road. Here rams

(51:30):
coming off from back to back losses, trying to get
one in the win column, and they've got the football
as well. Two wide receivers left one of the rights
hand off poot and this time stacked up nothing but
gold jerseys around him. One of the first guys there
defensively was River Swanen, number eleven for Caledonia.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
I know how you picked him out because there was
about eight gold jerseys in there. But that time again,
they now they kind of know right now, okay, they
want to run the ball, so we probably should playing
the road. So now this is where Braden Daniels can
really come out and shine here, throwing the football, getting
out in space, making defenders and putting them in conflict.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
Whitney Ball defensive coordinator for Caledonia, trying to air it out.
Daniels intercepted Aaron Collins stepping in front again Mike and
Kuiper didn't come back to the football to help his quarterback.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
But Daniels floated that one, and that's his second I
n T of the night.

Speaker 4 (52:28):
I mean, that's a heck of a player by Collins.
And I don't want to fall to the Kiper too
much because that's an out. That's a deep out route,
right He's running a corner. He's not much he can
do there, and Daniels put enough air under it so
he can settle underneath it.

Speaker 3 (52:40):
Just kind of floated little a little bit.

Speaker 4 (52:42):
But man, I'm just telling Aaron Collins, that's that's all
number one right there in gold. That's just a terrific,
tremendous play. Great read by Collins, third turnover by the
Caldaria defense. Can they finally cast one in?

Speaker 2 (52:56):
They've got time here, two nine left to go, first half,
trailing no by twos thirteen to nothing. Two wide receivers
each way bets are deep drop has time gonna air
it out.

Speaker 3 (53:05):
Got a man out there and too far out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
Lincoln Senti pretty good coverage that time defensively again for Rockford.

Speaker 4 (53:12):
Chase Pitch on the coverage and Derek Pennington down there.

Speaker 3 (53:16):
I don't know if he's mad at the official.

Speaker 4 (53:19):
I don't know if he's mad at his receiver, but
he's mad, I know that, and he's try I think
he's talking to Lincoln Sendy because boy, they've had the
deep ball open a couple of times and they just
haven't been able to connect.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
And I'm not really sure what Derek is telling him,
but it's just.

Speaker 4 (53:34):
So frustrating because they've got the play calls, they've got
the space, they just have not connected.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
I think that's what he was mad about it. I
think he was pointing towards the sideline, telling him, you know,
move in a little bit. You're you're helping the defense
out because an added defender there, and that makes it
a tough throw for your quarterback. Bets are trying to
get it to him. He definitely was talking to SCENTI.
I think about his position out of the field. Tight
trips to left Wade side of the fields. They work
for the right second down in ten after the completion

(54:02):
two two left to go. Now single coverage, trying to
float it out over the top incomplete again pitch on
the coverage. The intended receiver at that time for Caledonia
was Parker Little. So now third down in ten, and
keep in mind, every one of these passes that falls
incomplete does stop the clock for Rockford and the Rams
still have two time Outrey wining Caledonia all three in

(54:23):
this half.

Speaker 4 (54:24):
Well, Betser that time just unloads it a lot, really,
I mean, Little wasn't even halfway into the round, and
Betser's trying to throw him open, and Pard's because of
the pressure. He knows there's been pressure, so he winds
the bottle of his hand, but also knows that he
feels like he has a good play there. And Little
did get behind the defender, but just throws it too

(54:45):
early and now brings up third and long.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
Working from their own forty seven down thirteen to nothing
Caledonia after an Iront trying to put some points on
the board, Betser sets fires, got his man coming back
to the football in ramp territory I fighting through two
would be tacklers order the first down, they're late blowing
the whistle and Now the Caledonian fans are saying, hey,
wait a minute, they were trying to punch it out.
It looked like you were almost trying to punch him,

(55:08):
but they were trying to punch the ball out because
they had him stood up. Good job by Fink coming
back for the catch at the Rams forty six yard line.

Speaker 4 (55:16):
And again, obviously you want to make the safe calls
an official there. But Fink is fighting for yardage, right,
He's not giving up on the play. Obviously he wasn't
go anywhere. And then Hambleton comes in. I mean, what's
he supposed to do? Sit there and watch. Yeah, I
try to punch the ball out too. Finally they blow
it dead. But Fink again, he's fighting for yardage there,
gain of six, that's up a fourth and four. Gonna

(55:36):
go for it here.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
Leave the offense out down thirteen to nothing, bets are
out of the short shotgun fires got a man. Collins
breaks and tackle inside the thirty. Now trying to cut
back inside the twenty, inside the fifteen and all the
way out of the fourteen yard line thirty two yards
Aaron Collins, who now needs some help getting up.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
Yeah, poot kind of rolled up up on him a
little bit there.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
Yeah, I think he's gonna have to come out. I
think he's all right. He's coming off under his own pressure,
but hobbling a little bit. And I think you're right, partner.
I think the defender rolled up on his ankle. But
what a pitch and catch, fourth down conversion. Here we
go again in the red zone. Caledonia, first in ten.
They'll have it from the Rockford twelve yard line. Clock
continuing to wind.

Speaker 4 (56:20):
Yep and Coach Paynton likes to do the old school
where he has the quarterback come over and get the plays.
So that's gonna take some time as well. But now
that's where the timeouts. Yeah, coming to playoff, I.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
Was gonna say they've got three timeouts, and he'd like
to obviously end with triple zeros on the clock at
scoring a touchdown. Two wide receivers each way, remember Collin's
out with the injury. Cross the middle off the fingertips
of little they're trying to run a little inside post
pattern working against pitch well. They picked on number six tonight,
but incomplete stops the clock. Twenty nine seconds left to go,

(56:52):
first half, second in ten, coming up for Caledonia again
inside the Rockford fifteen.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
Well, this will be an interesting play call here. You've
got three timeouts, so you know, and you can get
a first down. We haven't seen Betser run the football
at all in the last couple possessions. This might be
a great time for a quarterback draw. They're thinking you're
gonna throw spread them out. This is where I would
think a quarterback draw would be a great call. They
got Vogeler. I think is back in?

Speaker 8 (57:21):
Or is.

Speaker 4 (57:22):
Chili?

Speaker 3 (57:23):
Yep, Chili is different? Back in? There? Did Aaron Collins
come back? Yet?

Speaker 2 (57:28):
Second down to ten bets across the middle guage man
touchdown Lincoln Senti, the sophomore, for six beautiful chop, I
geting inside the defender and it was a twelve yard
touchdown pass from Betzer to Senti for the eighth time
this season.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
Touchdown Caledonia, extra point up coming.

Speaker 4 (57:49):
Well, the middle of the field was open, but it
was not for Betser to run but to throw and
Senti just an in cut gets great leverage on his defender,
but man Betser just sets his feet and lets it rip.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
Swinging gate here Betser with just the senator to snap
it to him. We'll see if they motion over or not.
Taking a lot of time. Now they'll swing over.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
Got to hurry up, boy.

Speaker 4 (58:09):
One of the Rockford defenders almost followed him into the backfield.

Speaker 2 (58:13):
Now they go to traditional, gonna kick it. Bets remembers
the holder, snaps ago one holds down, kick is on
the way, This one is up and good knocking it
through with Syler and so with twenty five seconds left
to go, Finally cashing in on the third turnover they
forced against the Rockford offense, putting seven on the board
was Caledonia. They trail thirteen to seven to Rockford. We'll

(58:36):
keep it right here. You look at the OK red standings,
buck Gino. We'll get that scoring recap for that drive
for Caledonia in a minute. Hudsonville, going into play tonight
a top at three to zero in division play, already
have wins over Jennison and Rockford. They still have to
play Caledonia. Caledonia right behind them along with East Kentwin
and Granville all tied there at two and one. Going

(58:58):
into play to night, Grambling He's ent squaring off in
a big game. Caledonia four and one overall. East Kentwood
three and two, Grandville two and three, then Rockford, Grand
Haven and Jennison all at one and two, and Westato
a tough year for Pat Collins and the Panthers.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
They are zero in three in league play, oh in
five overall, and they are up twenty one to nothing
early in the second quarter tonight. That's what. We don't
know anything, Brett.

Speaker 4 (59:21):
We just don't. We just throw up every week and
we think we know and then we don't know. And
this what makes high school football great, right, It's it's
all sorts of different results.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
You never know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (59:33):
And Jennison, after a huge win against Rockford, they look
at West Tide. They haven't won a game. This one's
easy and all of a sudden, Pat Collins does a
great job.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
They're coaching.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
Is twenty one nothing.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
By the way, good news.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Aaron Collins, who is their kickoff guy, is back in there,
low line driving, kicking to.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
Be taken at the twenty two.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
Still on his way, he's got a wall across the thirty,
cuts back at the forty, then run down from behind
at the forty five yard line on the return that
time for Rockford. Nice job, by the wide receiver. That's
Dylan Cross as he takes it out to the forty
five and now eighteen seconds left. You got two timeouts.
Let's see what rock Frick can do. They got a

(01:00:11):
pretty good field goal kicker as well.

Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
And if you got a guy like Blake Lindsley has
got some height. Haven't talked about him at all, and
he's a former future college player, maybe get him in
the middle of field, get on a mismatch and try
to get Wall downfield.

Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
Get a time out.

Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Dylan Gross, excuse me on the return, not Cross? First
down and ten now motion to man. Now they go
the traditional eye formation, going to bring him in. Titus
like an extra wing back. Daniels played fake deep drop
now and there's some pressure throws on the run. God
his man, great catch a little bit behind him, a
good adjustment at the forty two yard line. Making the

(01:00:47):
catch that time was the big tight end for Rockford.
That's Blake Linsley, the senior. But there is a penalty flag.

Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
And I think this is gonna be coming back on
a hold. I just said, Blake Lindsley, we haven't heard
about him all all game.

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
And there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
We finally finally heard about him, but unfortunately it's gonna
come back.

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
I think got a hold and you can't miss that
guy at six six, he's about two thirty. Just another
one of these weapons, and I realized they've got a
ton of them.

Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
But you look at it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
We've seen Isaac put have a big night tonight. Run
the football right. Lindsley is also a great blocking tight end.
But boy, when you get in trouble, that guy across
the middle of the field can definitely bail you out.

Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
Did a great job of working to stay open for
his quarterback who was experiencing pressure, and we had a
fine catch on the sideline, but all for nod As.

Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
It's a hold upfield. You know he's been quiet tonight.
It's Jack's Eichbauer.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
What had a big game we had a few weeks
ago against Granville with multiple catches. Daniels now kind of
pump faking again, just not sure of himself, and then
pressure from the backside of to throw that one away.
Penalley by the way against Rockford backing him up, as
Buck mentioned, back at their own forty yard line. So
now second and fifteen coming up, we've got just five
seconds left.

Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
To go in this half, well, Daniel's experiencing heavy pressure
from the linebacking spot there and just had to throw
it away because one of the linebackers I didn't see
the number, came unblocked and buried him.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Hult Steps and Physical Therapy halftime show with our own
Rick Burkey coming up after this play hand off Boot
why not? He's your home run here, big hole on
the left side. It's got some blockers in front. Now
cuts back and finally gold jerseys surround him and they'll
drop him as time runs out, but not before he
gets to the Caledonia forty yard line. Nice pickup of
twenty to add to his total for Isaac Boot. So

(01:02:36):
first half of the book says the team said to
the respective locker rooms on each end of the field,
and after one half of play, this okay red battle.
Our score reads Rockford thirteen, Caledonia seven.

Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Stay with us.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
After the timeout, we'll send you back downtown to the
ninety six to one of the game studios. We're own
Rick Burkey is standing by with our live game reports
and more. It's the Hult Stepson Physical Therapy halftime show
coming up next right here on ninety six to one
the game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
All right, great job Rick into all of our game reporters.
Don't forget.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
We'll do it all over again with the scoreboard show
after we are done here tonight from Ralphie Myers Memorial Stadium.
Huge crowd on hand for this one. Why not when
Rockford and Caledonia get together. As Rick mentioned, our score
at the break is both teams back on on the
artificial surface here warming up for the second half. Thirteen
to seven Rockford over Caledonia. Was Rockford seven nothing after one,

(01:03:29):
and then Rockford went up thirteen nothing, missed an extra
point in the second quarter, and then a turnover late
By the way, the Caledonia defense getting three turnovers, two
interceptions and a bumble recovery in that first half. Finally
cash in Betser finding one of his super sophomore wide
receivers and Lincoln sent to a twelve yard touchdown catch

(01:03:52):
the attack on the extra point, and it's thirteen to
seven Rockford at the break. Now Caledonia has moved up
and down the field, throwing the football, primarily with their
senior quarterback Brody Betser, over one thousand yards and eighteen
touchdowns to their coming in Rockford trying to get after
him defensively, but on the other side for a team
that struggled offensively the last two weeks with losses to

(01:04:13):
Hudsonville and Jennison back to back, Jennison spoiling their homecoming
for the Rams last week at Kyleson Munger Stadium. They've
gone back to their offensive line in the trenches, so big,
so talented and running the football with number thirty four.
That's Isaac Pot who has two rushing touchdowns. This one
the first play from scrimmage for the Rams. They went

(01:04:35):
eighty nine yards and then you talk about his second
touchdown buck Gino to give them a thirteen to zing
lead before Caledonia got that one right before the half.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Well, you talk about.

Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
Poot, and we talked at the very opening Brett, we
said they got to find an identity. Well, giving Isaac
Poot the football and letting him run for over one
hundred and fifty yards seems like a good identity. Yeah,
and it worked to their advantage. But I also think defensively,
you know, we're gonna talk about Poot's second touchdown around
the one yard score, but I mean defensively, if you

(01:05:08):
could if you told Brent Cummings, Hey, you're gonna turn
the ball over three times, Cal's gonna have the ball
in the red zone four times, and you're gonna be
up by a score at the end of halftime. I
can't tell you the look he would have given us
if we would have told him that, but it probably
wouldn't have been good. But they've just found a way.
And I think that's the really encouraging for Rockford. Is
Isaac Poot capping a second scoring drive. Now, Luca Hearns

(01:05:31):
helped set that up with the block field goal return,
gave him a short field, But you look like Rockford
kind of looks like Rockford today. The turnovers aren't good,
but they look like they're a little bit more engaged.
They look like they're they're just in a different spot offensively.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
And let me take the counterpoint of that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Derek Pennington right now is saying, Okay, my defense graded
three turnovers. We had a ton of opportunities in the
red zone. Yes we did not cash in, but hey,
this is still a one score game. And if we
can figure out how to try to neutralize Isaac Boot
a little bit and force Brayden Daniels to throw to
beat us.

Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
We're in a good position. That's what Caledonia wants.

Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
That's what they would like. It's gonna be a tough
sled though. Now we talk about injuries. Brayln Ray got
hurt early in the first half. He comes back, but
then Jackson Olin in the first quarter gets rolled up on.
He's come out in the second half. He's got his
pads on, but he's got crutches, so that's illegal. He
can't go out there with crutches. So he's dressed, but

(01:06:30):
he's not going to play. Aaron Collins has been probably
the best offensive player for Caledonia in the first half,
and he's kind of limping around.

Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
He got rolled up on that catch down.

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Inside the ten when Isaac Poot tackled him, and so
he's kind of moving around gingerly. And so if you're Caledonia,
you kind of find a way. Lincoln sent he's done
a really good job as a second receiver. Get him involved,
maybe find somebody else, maybe, you know, Reied Bulgler has
been kind of bing banged up because he hasn't been
in on all the offensive series. So they're just kind

(01:07:01):
of trying to find a way to piece this together
because these two football teams. You can tell Brad this,
especially the second half. Now, this is a huge, huge
result for both teams because Caledonia getting banged up, Rockford
trying to get their momentum back after two straight losses.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
This should be a really good second half.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Rockford will start with the football and guess who's back deep,
the ever dangerous Isaac Pooch. Don't want to kick the
football to him here to start the second half. Now,
they'll move them around as they switch him up, they can. Okay,
if they're gonna angle it to the near sideline, we're
gonna put pood over there. And I don't know if
Syler caught it. Now the he'll relook and adjust where
he wants to kick it. He kicks it the other way.
Good adjustment by Siler going back and catching over his

(01:07:40):
shoulder inside the fifteen at about the twelve, coming near side,
not much blocking it front, but breaks it tackles still
want to be at the twenty five, cuts back and
good return out to the thirty yard line of that time.
On the return was Jack's Eichbauer, who's been kind of
quiet tonight, but they're on special teams. Nice return of eighteen.

(01:08:01):

Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
We'll do our vandwin home improvement keys the second half,
Rockford stop giving the ball to the other team. Caledonia,
don't get anymore guys hurt. I mean, that's pretty simple,
and try to contain thirty four, try to stop thirty four.
But that's it's pretty simple. Not a whole lot of
pinash and thought going into that one offset eye.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
They gotta run the football here.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
On first down, Isaac put over the left side, better job,
but he crosses the thirty out to the thirty four
yard line before he's dropped there. Reid voguely the leading
tackler in there for Caledonia. Gim mcgada four second and
six offensive lineman rotating out for Rocke here Linsley, the
big tight end stacked over the right side. Daniel's now

(01:09:04):
work out of the pistol formation. They'll go slot right
wide side of the field, one right, so they were
left and now moving up front, and it was contact,
big noseguard for Caledony. Good job by Rockford going on
a delayed count get a free five yards.

Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
In that one. You don't need contact, but he got it.

Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
And that's a tough one because boy, is that the
first penalty for Caledonia tonight. I know Radford's had a couple,
not many though for both teams. No, just the hole
there and maybe the the other. There are a couple holds.
That's about it.

Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
We had the one personal foul yet there well, second
and short after the free five yards, Daniels wants to
throw looking looking under some pressure, flushed out of the pocket,
rolling to his right, running for his life, gets rid
of it and this throws it into the bench. Good
job by the Caledonia defense bringing pressure late. That was
River Swanlin again on the outside. He's got some speed.

Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
Well.

Speaker 4 (01:09:54):
Reied Volger comes into delayed safety blitz and he comes through,
gets proved almost clean, and then swinaland picks up the
pursuit as Daniels rolls, who is right Poot picked up
the first blitz, but nobody there for River Swinaland and
he chases Daniels all the way over to the right sideline.
I like the play calls second in short, you might
as well try to go downfield. Night Caledonia and Whitney

(01:10:16):
Bell knew that was coming, dialed up the blitz and
pressured Daniels into.

Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
Throwing it away.

Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Nick Sarbo that senior defensive line at big number sixty
six plus out of the pocket as well to Kuiper
coming in as a wing back. Daniels design quarterback keep
right side, got the first down, files that big offensive
line like a snowplow across the forty five out to
the forty nine yard line. Moved the chains first and
ten needed one. Got ten rams on the move here
early in the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Oh, Daniels has struggled throwing the football, but he's had
a couple of key runs in this game, and that's
one of them right there. Third and short just goes
over right guard and picks up ten good blocking on
that right side by Rockford.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Three wide receivers sat to the left, one to the
right hand off Poot. Poot just dancing at the line
of scrimmage and I'll kick to the outside.

Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
It's got that fifth gear.

Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
But this one's gonna come back a penalty flag thrown
at the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
I think it's gonna be holding. Did you see that? Though?

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Poot just kind of shuffled, shuffled, and boom kicked it
into fifth gear as he got to the outside.

Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
Hold against Rockford. So Caledonia kinda take it. The first
pointed at Caledonia and coach Pennington's.

Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
Like, what I waited?

Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
What are you talking about? But they got it straight
into it and that boy, it's a tough one because
that was gonna be close to or it was gonna
be a first down maybe for Poot, but instead it
comes all the way back spot foul.

Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
Though they're gonna say it's at the forty eight, not
at the line.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Of scrimmage, so it was a little bit downfield, so
they get the benefit there, or will they now they
moved it back to the forty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Nope, they're gonna They're gonna go from there all right.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
Originally the guy was standing at the forty eight of
Caledonia maybe he had to look over at the down marker.
So now, first in twenty after the holding penalty against Rockford,
just underway third quarter, ten to thirty nine, left to go,
Rockford up thirteen to seven rams with football to Kuiper
in motion and now all kinds of.

Speaker 4 (01:12:04):
Well they were. The referee went to go get his flag.
That's not gonna be I mean, and Braden Daniels is like, hey,
let's go when the official hadn't even gotten back to
his position.

Speaker 3 (01:12:14):
Yeah, they're just gonna blow it down.

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
There's no penalty there, but half the offensive line was
ready to go to Kuiper was in motion, just never
got underway. By the way, stay with us once we
are done here tonight. We got our wing Jersy fan
of the game coming up in the fourth quarter, but
our discountd door postgame show where select to Night's Uptown
chief Skate offensive player of the game. They faked the

(01:12:36):
jet sweep to the Kiper Daniel size to underneath, not
much running room against that gold defense. Throwback looking in
there defensively to make the tackle that time, was sheilely?

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Yeah, they were un jet action there with the Kuiper
coming to the near side. Of the field.

Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
Cal Dounia doesn't even pay attention to it, does a
good job staying home. Look at this they got, yeah,
nobody with their hands in the dirt.

Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
Here they got seven guys bouncing around from the up
position for Caledonia.

Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
And now they'll move as the ball is snapped.

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Poot kicks out left side, got positive yatage back to
the original line of scrimmage, and maybe one more before Sheiley,
one of the insign backers along with Reed Vogeler brings
him down. They'll mark him just shy the midfield stripe
with the Ram forty nine. So now after everything, we're
back to where we started.

Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
Third and ten.

Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Gavin Curry Senior white out split wide right to Kiper
inside of him in a slot right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
See what the Rams can do here?

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
Likely a throwing down with Isaac Poot to the left
of Daniels by himself, Jack Seicherberger Iike Bauer near side.
Daniels under duress, spins away from one tackle and another
crosses the midfield stripe and then gonna be stopped short
to that first down marker at the Caledonia forty six
yard line. Give him five, it'll still be fourth and five,

(01:13:59):
but prussure from the outside and Daniels had to tuck
and run.

Speaker 4 (01:14:02):
Well, I'll tell you now they're gonna think about going
for it here because the fourth and long that's a
no brainer. But now fourth and five, they're gonna at
least keep the offense on the field. Now they can
do that quick kick that Daniels did when we saw
it against Grandville, that's still in the book.

Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
They took Linsley the tight end out, opted for another
wide receiver, so they'll go four wide receivers, three right,
one to the left is Ike Bauer, short side of
the field to Kuiper and motion right to left. Now
Daniels will back away. They'll change the play from the
line of scrimmage. Oh, quick kick. Daniel's gonna kick it away,
end over end kick no one back deeper Caledonia. They

(01:14:40):
kept the defense on hits of the sixteen, takes a
ram bounce inside the fifteen, down inside the ten, and
dead at the nine.

Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
So good job by rock Ford.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
But at the same time, Caledonia high five and themselves
coming off to the near side because their defense gotta
stop bug Gino.

Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
Well, at that time, it wasn't a turnover either.

Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
I mean they're had to stick it in there for
all three downs and the holding call really the big
turning point of that drive. Who has a first down
or close to instead it's a holding makes it first
and twenty. They just can't get all of that back
and the end up having to punt the football.

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Great to see our friends from LMCU, the local Caledonia
branch out here along with Kids Food Basket with a table. Tonight,
we'll tell you about bag decorating going on in the
month of October to help out with Kids Food Basket.

Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
Five.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Our receiver set Bets are going back to work on offense.
Got his man Aaron Collins to the outside and didn't
get stripped to the football. At the twenty five, Rockford
thinks they have it. Curry came down on the far sideline.
The ram defender came up with a football and what
do we.

Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
Got and they're marking the ball down for Caledonia.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Looks like, oh wow, Rockford really thought they had that
football on the strip on the far sidelight was right
in front.

Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
Of their bench.

Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
Yeah, I mean that's all the way across there. I
can't really tell. I couldn't tell either what the commotion
was until you said that the ball was loose, but
they talked about it and Caldowna retains possession play, so
they dodge a big bullet.

Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
There Aaron Collins that time out to the twenty five
nice completion of sixteen first and ten three wide receivers
to the right. Bets are rolling that way, got time,
got time looking looking downfield. Here comes to pressure and
now just has to get rid of it. As coming late.
Rockford finally got to him, and they're defensively coming late

(01:16:32):
was Corbyn Starky. But the first guy there that got
upon him defensively was why At Coulson. I tell you
what that sophomore linebacker. We've called his name quite a
bit tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Rockford kind of wanted intentional grounding there, but the rule
is in high school, once you outside the tackle box,
as long as you get past the line of scrimmage, YEP,
it's not intentional grounding.

Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
And clearly he's passed the last scrimmage.

Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
And he did kind of have SENTI in the area.
It was coming back liberal description of the area. Yes,
he was there, you can see him, but you know, Bets,
you're doing a good job. But that time he rolls
out to the wide side, but he just he gets
too close to the sideline there. He's got to try
to stay a little bit towards the middle of the
field and give himself some options.

Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
Tight covers on the far side. Now as they throw
the screen across the middle, read Volkler trying to.

Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Get to the outside. Oh, he couldn't break the tackle.

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Nice open field tackle off the thirty one short of
the first down marker. That was Luca Hearn coming up
from a safety position. I tell you what if Hearn
doesn't get him, he's got room to run. He's got
some blockers in front. Big tackle there to make it
third and five.

Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
The safeties, both Poot and the Hearn was terrific, and
they coming.

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
Up in support.

Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
They get there so fast. We know the speed of Poot,
but Luca Hearn very fast as well. You saw it
on that blocked field goal bringing.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
It back so often. You see a lot of speed.
But then they just don't get into a good tackling position,
kind of take themselves out of the play by doing that.
But Pot and Hearn's such good tacklers in the open field.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Vogler in the backfield out to the left of Bets
are on third and five from their own thirty takes
the snap out of the pistol, looking looking now, was
gonna try to run nothing there as that closed quickly
and guess who big number fifty eight Thatcher Wilson who's
played the whale of a game defensively for Rockford as well.
Between Wilson, between a Hearn and also Wyatt Colson. I

(01:18:21):
mean you've got three rams that are racking up some
tackles there on the other side.

Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
Well, Bets are there again pressure Caledonia has had this
happen before. East Caentwood was able to get pressure on them,
which caused some problems in the early in that game
before cal Doon is able to figure it out and
Bets are just trying to turn it up field.

Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
But with the speed that Rockford has.

Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
On defense, he's just not gonna last long by trying
to do that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Aaron Collins, so kick it away, wobbly low Lin driving
kick taking my put inside his own thirty five as
he backs up now wrapped up around the ankle and
they're gonna get him down.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Good job by the punt team.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Collin's again little gingerly running off, remember he had that
ankle injury before, kind of fighting it off. Betser comes
to the near side bench and the one thing Rockford
has done defensively a really nice job of is not
allowing Betser to beat them with his feet. They've kept
him in between the hash marks, which has done a
good job because, like I said, he's their leading rusher

(01:19:19):
for Caledonia coming into this.

Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
Content and when he has gotten to the wide side
of the field or towards the numbers, he just hasn't
had the lanes to run right because of the intense pressure.
He hasn't had a chance to turn it up field.
Usually he's retreating and doesn't have that forward momentum.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Just about the halfway point of the third quarter six
oh three and ticking left to go, delayed handoff over
the right side. First carry the night across the forty
five out to the forty seven yard line. That is
Thomas Becker, the senior running back. They've had a couple
of different guys that they've had come in when they
haven't used Isaac put Obviously it's been the Isaac Poot

(01:19:54):
show here to night with two rushing touchdowns, but Becker
was one of those guys they listed they could be
in the rotation.

Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Nice pickup of.

Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
Nine on first down, second and one, they worked from
their own forty six to late hit off Becker. Nice
job with a quick jet over the right side and
he's into Caledonia territory and more first down inside the
fighting Scott's forty to the thirty eight, So giving Poot
a little breathe that they come back with a smaller
but very quick Thomas Becker with two big runs.

Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
Well it all goes credit to the offensive line. I
mean you could have driven a semi through the hole
that Becker had. Just a big running lane right off
right guard, and Becker makes the most of it going
into Caledonia territory.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
That's over Laplant and Panchola on that right side. Pitch
to Poop back in there makes a man miss to
Kuiper with a good kickout block. Another one dancing up
the sidelines inside the thirty and wrapped up and thrown
out of bounds at Augh out the twenty seven yard line.
Over there on the tackle defensively for Caledonia was Brent
de Young, the junior defensive lineman, and you touched on

(01:20:55):
it partner.

Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
Let's give these guys credit.

Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
You got Nolan Miller, you got Gage Maxon Aiden rivers
the center la Plant, the right guard Panchola throw Linz
Land there for a blocking tight end, and the wide
receivers do a nice job as well.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
We saw to Kaiper there on the edge.

Speaker 4 (01:21:09):
It just spills this guy to the outside, doesn't try
to get two fancy. Let'son use his momentum and gets
the lane to the extra couple of yards four.

Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
Forty one ticket left to go. Third quarter, rock for
trying to add to the lead up thirteen to seven.
Inside the Caledonia thirty, Daniels has some running room, spinning
away from another defender and falling forward inside the twenty river.
Swalen brings him out the nineteen and now you see
hands on hips as far as this Caledonia defense. Rockford
kind of wearing him down here with this drive.

Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Well, they had a long drive to start the first half,
about four minutes, didn't get any points out of it,
but were very physical and ran the ball for most
of that drive. And now they're getting back after a
pretty short possession by Caledonia.

Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Becker back in there to the left of Daniels on
second and short. They give to him over the right side,
fighting for extra yard. It's tough to bring down. He's
got the first down at the fifteen, finally wrapping him
up Nick Sarver and pushing him back, but not before
he gets a fresh set of downs for Rockford first
in ten three point fifty seven. Clock stotts momentarily while
they move the chains left to go. Third quarter, By

(01:22:18):
the way, rapid radio scoreboard update, how about this one
of the ok green out at rees puffer the Rockets
playing the Bulldogs the Byron Center tough tied at fourteen
at the half, but I tell you what, another big
night for the outstanding Bulldogs quarterback Landing Tungget over one
hundred yards rushing in a touchdown in that first half alone.

Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
I mentioned Jennison down early to west Oudawa twenty one
to nothing. They got it up to twenty one to
fourteen at halftime.

Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
A little bit of a.

Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
You know, kind of a bounce back game for them
after a big upside against Rockford. They're playing west adowa
who hasn't won a game. You could see a let
down there, and you know, Pat Collins does a terrific
job coaching over there. It's been a rough year, but
he'd be ready and they get out early on Jennison,
but that one's turning into a battle as well. Hudsonville
is up on Grand Haven early and often, twenty eight
to nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
The legal procedure against the Rams backs them up five
first down in fifteen from the Caledoria twenty. They'll motion
to Kuiper from left to right, poot back in. There
are now confusion and Rockford's gonna have to burn a
time out, so Rockford wants to talk things over. On
first and fifteen from the Caledonia twenty three, thirteen left
to go third corteryor Ralphie Myers Memorial Stateum in Caledonia.

(01:23:31):
Our score Rockford thirteen, Caledonia seven. Back with more after
this on ninety six to one the game. High school
football is back and West Michigan is scoring touchdowns for kids.

Back to the action here rock for death the time
out first and fifteen from the coundary twenty to Kuiper
in motion right to left.

Speaker 3 (01:24:55):
Haven't run the jet sweep to him yet.

Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Braden Daniels calls his own number quarterback keep to the
sixteen yard line, give him four after the penalty, second
and eleven coming up this third quarterbuck Gino being brought
to you by Kids Food Basket, our official nonprofit for
the LMCU High school football Game of the Week for
the third year running.

Speaker 3 (01:25:14):
Now neuris local kids to reach their full potential.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
We're happy to say combined last week, seventeen touchdowns at
fifty bucks a touchdown eight hundred and fifty dollars added
to our total. We'll tell you more about that after
this play. Pitch off, the Poot cuts back inside the
ten and he's got a Rockford first down inside the
five to the four.

Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
I tell you what that extra gear it's just like
lightning in a bottle and boom, he sets up first
in goal for the Rams.

Speaker 4 (01:25:40):
I mean, just tremendous acceleration. It does not take him
long no, to get from top gear from first to
top gear and just turns on the jets and picks
up eleven when.

Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
It didn't look like there was much there.

Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
They're gonna go power offset eye with a big fellow
to the right of Poot seven yards off the line.

Speaker 3 (01:25:59):
Of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (01:25:59):
The late hand off Poot with his third touchdown of
the night, hardly touched from four yards out, and just
like that, it's nineteen to seven Rockford with two thirteen
left to go here in the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:26:12):
Boy just really going to town on the front seven
of Caledonia, like you said, Brett, hands on hips and
guys starting to get a little tired, especially the kids
that are going on both sides of the.

Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
Ball, and Rockford just.

Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
Continuing to batter that front line. And Poot gets in
for his third.

Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
Chase vote puts it up and in for the extra
point for Rockford. Good to have him back, and with
two thirteen left to go here in the third quarter,
Rockford has opened up their lead to two scores. It's
the Rams twenty the fighting Scotts to California seven back
with more here from Ralphie Myers Memorial Stadium after this
on ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 9 (01:26:54):

Repeicita buck gino back here in Caledonia where Rockford will
recap that last Rams scoring drive.

Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
Does it again?

Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
Capped off by number thirty four, Isaac put his third
rushing touchdown of the game, hone. It now keeps that
inbound on the near sideline, dangerous by Aaron Collins filled
it on the hop at the six and on the
fly takes it across the twenty and he's out to
the twenty one line. So first and ten fighting Scott's there.
Let's go to bt Geno now to recap that scoring drive.

Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
A big one for the Rams.

Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
Eight plays, three minutes and fifty seconds off the clock,
sixty four yards of real estate covered. Isaac poot his
third touchdown on the ground in the game, this one
from four yards up.

Speaker 2 (01:28:17):
Chase vote the pat and it is twenty to seven
in favor of the Rams. We got our wing Dousey
fan of the game coming up in the fourth quarter.
We'll give you the queue to call, a number to call,
but I want to finish up the third quarter being
brought to by Kids Food Basket. And with eight hundred
and fifty dollars to the total last week, with those
seventeen touchdowns, we're now at three thousand, seven hundred and fifty.

Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
For the year.

Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Thank you so much for the donations from Lake Michigan
Credit Union for both our game and our Lake Shore
Game of the Week. Vogeler gets the handoff and he's
going to be dropped for a loss. Well behind a
line of script. Mate, they're going to back this up
to the seventeen loss of four on a handoff to
the running back second and fourteen. I guess Rockford had
everybody coming there, and they're starting to work in some

(01:29:03):
different bodies. So deep landed Pierce junior defensive lineman over
the nose now near side Corbyn Starkey is still in there.
Three down linemen Brody Betzer out of the pistol formation,
play fake on the handoff to Vogar on some pressure
throws across the middle incomplete DESCENTI in double coverage boy.

(01:29:24):
Rockford starting to pin their ears back defensively. Third and
fourteen coming up.

Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
Well, three down linemen, but they bring five. A couple
of linebackers join in late and that really comes up
the work for Caledonia. And they've struggled with giving up
pressure in this season. But Rockford, just Randy vanderven is
doing all sorts of twists and stunts and games up front,
and Caledonia's offensive line has struggled mightily against what coach

(01:29:52):
Vantervene has drawn up tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
Remember young and they've got some injuries there. We mentioned
Jackson Olan going out early in this one.

Speaker 3 (01:29:59):
So third and.

Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Fourteen trips to the left for Betser takes a snap
from center in the pocket, looking flushed down and gonna
go down drop back of the ten yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
Never had a chance.

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
And guess who Thatcher Wilson, the senior defensive lineman, boy
fifty eight having a night. It's gonna be between him
and Colson. I think for our Montel construction defensive player
the game. If Rockford can hang on and is that
Betser still down?

Speaker 8 (01:30:25):
It is?

Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
Oh boy, he went down hard. It was a clean
tackle though by Thatcher Wilson, I.

Speaker 4 (01:30:33):
Think the same thing that happened with Poot. I think
he just kind of rolled over and just got bent
at an odd angle. They're looking at his right foot. Boy,
we hope he's alright. He's having such a good year.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Committed to Tiffin University, but might even have a bigger
school interested in him in the future. Derek Pennington gonna
walk out and while we've got an injury time out
of the field, will step uside as well. One eighteen
left to go into third Rockford twenty seven back with
more after this on ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 11 (01:31:05):

On ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
And coming through his Aaron Collins tries to put it
out of his own end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
It's blocked and then recovered.

Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
For a touchdown and oh boy, continuing his big ni
getting a pawn at that time. Now again they don't
drop back too deep, but the pressure was coming. Rockford
almost Scott one earlier and Wyatt Colson comes up with
the big block. I didn't see who got the recovery
in the end zone. It was number two Corbyn Starkey
and Rockford puts up six more.

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
On the board. To open this thing open.

Speaker 4 (01:32:37):
Buck Gino boy just goes from bad to worse for Caledonia,
Ratzer goes to the sideline and then Collins tries to
punt the football and has.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
It stuffed extra point. Plenty of leg on this one
as he drives it through with authority. That's Chase Boat
and what a change in the environment here. You can
feel it on the homestead crowd one fourteen left.

Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
To go on to third.

Speaker 2 (01:33:03):

Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
Honen gets his foot into this one high end over
end kick taking just outside the goal line by Aaron Collins.
He decided to bring it out and that might have
been a mistake as he's run out of bounds, crossing
just the fifteen to the sixteen yard line. He might
have been better off to let that one go into
the end zone for the automatic touchback. Now not good
news for Caledonia. Coming back from the break, Brody Betzer

(01:34:40):
off with an ankle injury. They've got him on the
bench there. His night is probably done. I'm guessing they
want to obviously keep him for the future, and so
coming in in relief is Bryce back as the sophomore six.
Philly facing a three score deficit swings out complete to Collins.

(01:35:01):
Those two in the same sophomore grade, and Collin's coming
back to the ball to help him out short gain
before he's dropped after the catch at the eighteen yard line.
They'll give him a couple second and eight coming up.

Speaker 4 (01:35:15):
Well, I mean, back has tough spot to be in
for sure, and you don't know the extent of Betser's injury.
Is it more precautionary? Is it really that serious? Well,
we'll find out. I guess prib you next week. Is
I'm guessing done for the night and Backus will steer
the ship all the way in for the rest of
the way. But boy, just a tough night for Caldonia

(01:35:37):
on the injury front, and a couple of big potential
losses here that we're seeing two.

Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Wide receivers each way for Bacchus, we'll wing too. His
run on second and long looking looking directing traffic, got
his man nice composure throwing back across his body, which
normally don't advise, especially against the speed defense like Rockford.
But he gets Aaron Collins and he's got a first down.
Buck gino out across the twenty five to the twenty seven.

Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
Sometimes thinking's overrated and back is just like, you know what, hey,
Bry's backing it out there. He's like, look, what's what
could possibly go wrong? We're already losing. I'm just gonna play.
It's a little sandlot football. Tell guys where to be
and we're gonna get a first down.

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
And that'll take us to the end of the quarter.
So Caledonia have a chance to kind of look ahead
to what they want to do. After a little momentum there,
they pick up the first down.

Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
So thirty six.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Minutes in the books here in Caledonia. Our score after
three Rockford twenty seven, Caledonia seven. We'll come back with

Teams have switched sides and ends of the field, and
here we go on first and ten. Back is the
relief in there for Brody Betzer, when out with an injury,
A nice job by backs decided to run show a
little fleet to foot there across the thirty to the
thirty five yard line gate of eight second in two
only a sophomore backus working with his probably normal wide receivers.

(01:38:08):
Remember sent to a sophomore Collins, a sophomore trying to
lead Caledonia back here early to start the fourth down
twenty seven to seven. Rockford, of course, tried to avoid
a three game losing streak. That doesn't happen for Rockford
in the regular season since two thousand and two. Folks,
two wide receivers to the right, two to the left
for backus working for the left, Taj Rockford showing blitz.

(01:38:30):
Good job by the offensive line picking up He's gonna
try to air it out over the top, but overthrown.

Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
Lincoln sent to the intended receiver. And why we have
a moment.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Let's remind you this fourth quarter being brought to you
by a wing doozy who's hungry.

Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
Buck Gino, put your hand out. You're not eligible, but
you can call in right now.

Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
I know you're hungry, partner, So why six one six
four five four thirty seven seventy six. That's six one
six four five four thirty seven seventy six.

Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
Call the six right.

Order up some wings this weekend. Great football. How about
Michigan State later tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
I'm big one to one point three FM third down
and short back us back to drop, look out and
gonna go down grab by number two.

Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
And he's having a big night as well.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
In Corbyn Starkey, remember he had that Fumber recovery on
the block punt for a touchdown for Rockford. And I
tell you what you mentioned it, partner, tough position to
come in against this Rams defense when you're a backup quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:39:42):
I mean, Starky is still.

Speaker 4 (01:39:43):
Getting blocked there and you just reach out with one
hand and slings back his down. I mean that's just
a tremendous effort by Corbyn.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Starky mentioned the fourth quarter being brought to you by

Speaker 3 (01:40:09):
By the way, rapid radio scoreboard up data. They have
a conversation with the officials.

Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
We don't know what this is about, but twenty eight
to twenty eight in ok Green battle Byron center Ann
Reese Puffer. Nine minutes left to go in that one.
So the Bulldogs in a tie game with the Rockets
in the Oka Green. Remember they've got Moskege coming up
coming to Waddell Field down the road four BC and

(01:40:35):
now fourth down and long and the punt team gonna
come out for Caledonia.

Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
The confusion was the down marker still said third and
coach Randy Vanderveen was like, no, that's that's four, that's
the fourth down.

Speaker 3 (01:40:47):
And they finally got it right. Poot back deep.

Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
Oh, Collins kicked it to him. This might be trouble
fields at his own forty one. Takes a step back
now kicks it into another gear and good job by
Caledonia on the punt team down there to make the
stop and I'm the tackle that time for the Fighting
Scotts was Ben geardis the sophomore What nice sophomore class
here for Derek Pennington Caledonia Bright for the future for

(01:41:11):
the Fighting Scotts. So if things hold here in the
Oka Red, things are going to be interesting. Remember Granville
and East Kentwood in a battle, Buck mentioned Jennison who's
been playing better losing to West Ottawa tonight in the
Oka Red. I mean, I know coaches like Eric Stiegel
for Granville said going in this is going to be
a very battanced okare Red. You got Ty Spencer, the

(01:41:34):
new head coach in East kent Wood. They've been doing
well and so we'll have to wait and see. By
the way, Forest Till Central fourteen to seven, Zealand West
now twenty eight to seven, Forest Hill Central leading Zealand
West as they go wide and it's ike power on

(01:41:58):
the little wide receiver jets and he goes up the
sideline inside the thirty to the twenty six yard. I
want to correct myself. Zealand West leading Forest Hill Central
twenty eight to seven.

Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
Trying to read the different messages from our phones here
as we're calling.

Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
The play by play, a Grandville up by one on
East Kentwood late in the.

Speaker 2 (01:42:19):
Fourth quarter, and you look at those standings, like we mentioned,
I mean, it is a jumbled mess. You're gonna have
Rockford get their second win here in division play, but
Caledonia get their second loss. Hand off on the delay
coming to the right side, just kind of waited for
his offensive lineman to give him a crease Becker and

(01:42:39):
Becker down to the twenty two yard line just kind
of hide behind that big offensive line. Why not number
five Thomas Becker. More players rotated in for Rockford nine
thirty eight and ticking left to go, I'm just gonna
kind of wind this clock. Daniels in company. I didn't
say that confidently.

Speaker 4 (01:42:57):
I really didn't know if it was Becker or not,
because like you said, he just kind of hid on
amongst the trees there and just the amiba carried him
for five yards and you can tell Caledonia boy, you know,
the depth really is starting to come into play here. Yep,
Guys getting dinged up, and you know if they're down
to the backup quarterback and up front, there's tycling guys in.

Speaker 2 (01:43:19):
Becker runs underneath they faked the jet sweep cuts back
inside the ten and he's kind of first down for
the Rams, running hard as Thomas Becker down to the
Caledonia eight yard line, trying to put the exclamation point
on this one as we'll roll under nine minutes left
to go before this next play is snap. Twenty seven
to seven Rockford over Caledonia on the road. The Rams

(01:43:42):
last year impressive at home. We were there to give
you the call you're on ninety six, won the game
forty two to sixteen victors. Well mention a different looking
Caledonia team this year, throwing it all over the lot.
But if you're just tuning in, bets are out with
an injury. He's now got his pads off on the
near sideline, Becker trying to run the right side. Better
job by the Caledoria defense that time, coming up off

(01:44:05):
the bottom of the pile. Sarver was in there as well,
but was number twenty and that's Colin.

Speaker 4 (01:44:12):
Co Watch.

Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
At the eight yard line, so second and goal coming up.
Co Watch has made some nice plays tonight for Caledonia.
We talked about River Swanlin eight oh seven and ticking
left to go Catholic Central now has opened things up
on Holland Christie. That was a fourteen to ten ball

(01:44:37):
game at the half our Lake Shore Game of the week.
He can catch it over on one oh seven w
US the Moose one O seven point nine FM with
our own Jason Huttman, Tom Kender thirty five to ten
now all Catholic Central, Todd Colster. He takes those young
players freshmen and sophomores maybe when they start the season.
By now they're sophomores and juniors. And they battled some

(01:44:58):
injuries as well. We hope to get a look at
the Cougars. They got norfew coming in next week in
a big game. Also in the Okay black Wildcat's unbeat
and going into play tonight and off Becker out of
the eye formation, not gonna get there.

Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
Inside the two down to the one.

Speaker 2 (01:45:15):
Give him a gain of two clock winds under seven
thirty left to go, boy rock for just draining this clock.
But what a big win to bounce back for the Rams.
I mean, after losing to Hudsonville and then Jennison and
Home are spoiling their homecoming last week, you're thinking, boy,
chips are down. They've had injuries, and now they got
to go to Caledonia, a tough place to go and win.

Speaker 4 (01:45:34):
And let's be honest, the first half was not hung
in the loop three turnovers, I mean three turnovers, three
trips in the red zone.

Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
For cal Becker touchdown over the left side is to
dive play. Daniels was under center there and tack on
six more as Rockford now with thirty three up on
the board, lead at thirty three to seven, with seven
to ten left to go on this one, and some
Purple and Gold fans starting to head to the exits,
it's been all Rockford here in this second half. Remember

(01:46:05):
it was thirteen seven rams at the break. We'll have
all the highlight of this and more talk to the
winning side coming up with the Fox seventeen Blitz now
Saturday mornings, our new time from nine to nine thirty
because of Fox seventeen with their Friday night college football
extra point by the way up and good did miss

(01:46:26):
one earlier, but Chase Vote puts it in for Rockford.
So with seven ten left to go on this one,
our score Rockford thirty four, Calidonia seven. We'll come back
with more. As you're listening to this Week six edition
of the LMCU High School Football Game of the Week
live on this Friday night here on ninety six to
one the game.

We got the Lake Shore game of the week on

ninety six to won the game game of the week
out of the ok Red Caledonia with the football Parlberg

(01:48:18):
coin for the fair catch on the short kick on
the kickoff by a honean for Rockford and now they
swing it out left son across the thirty five backus
complete to the thirty eight gain of eight second and
two clock continues to wind. Next week we go to
Okay White Country, but not the Okay White that you.

Speaker 3 (01:48:37):
Grew up with. With these grand rapids Buck.

Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
You know, governing that Forest Hills Central Northview Byron Center.
Now it's Forest Hills Eastern hosting West Catholic. The top
two teams the way it's gonna set up, maybe for
all the marvels in that division next Friday night.

Speaker 4 (01:48:51):
Well Spring Lake still has something to say about that.
In Forest Hills Eastern Nursing a six point lead twenty
seven to twenty one one just minutes into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:49:02):
Back is now play action. Try to set up the
screen right side. It looked like he's gonna throw right
to a Rams to better because he was so big
you couldn't even see behind him. Read Voglar. He threw
it too, But this is gonna be lost yardage back
to the thirty five yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:49:15):
I mean, if you'r Voglary, better off just dropping it exactly.
It's hard to do. It's hard, hard to react that way.
But I mean, you got three guys standing in your
back pocket, you might as well just drop the football
because you're not getting away from there.

Speaker 3 (01:49:26):
And you know, Caledonia they lost that game to East
kent Wood.

Speaker 4 (01:49:30):
But coach Paennington knew he had a young squad that
he was ready to deal with some of the ups
and downs, and unfortunately for them tonight down. But some
good things, I mean, like you said, Senti and Collens
are sophomores. They have some good young talent coming up
through the ranks in this program, and there'll be something
to watch in the years going by.

Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
Back is throwing in traffic complete though to the sophomore
SENTI get some of that yardage back. It's about the
thirty eight and a half yard line. He's gonna bring
up fourth down. He's gonna be about two yards short. Well,
you hope Brody bets Are obviously is okay. He's got
the pads off over with the ankle injury on the bench.
You already lost tonight Alignment and Jackson Olin and I'm

(01:50:10):
telling you they got a meat grinder left to finish
in the ok rev you look at their final three games.
Jennison is in that mix, Granville is in that mix
in Hudsonville as well.

Speaker 4 (01:50:19):
Yeah, I mean Grandville, Hudsonville playing especially Hudsonville, but Grandville
is starting to finally play some good football. They're in
a tight one against East Kentwood tonight, but you know
they're starting to put it together a little bit. So
Caledonia is just trying to get out of this one
as healthy as they can right now.

Speaker 2 (01:50:36):
Time out on the field, we're gonna keep it right here.
Four fifty eight left to go. I got a Rapid
Radio scoreboard update. Four minutes left to go up in
Rocket Country, Muskegon rees Puffer trailing now is Byron Center
scored thirty five to twenty eight. That's gonna be a
heck of a finish stick around for the scoreboard show

rest of our crew. But Rapper Radios all season long

Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
Dot com and we'll keep an eye on Byron Center
trying to pick up win number five tonight in okay,
green play against the Rocket, swinging it out complete on
fourth and short that Aaron Collins saying an he did,
got it for the first down across the forty to
the forty two yard line and quickly on it and
make the tackle almost jarted away was Chase pitch again.

(01:51:57):
Nice job by backus in a great job by Aaron Collins,
and so impressed was Sentied Collins. Boy, these sophomores growing
up before our eyes. They've done it in tight, tough
coverage night, hard hitting coverage by that Rockford secondary.

Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
And you talk about the secondary for the Rockford Rams
being good in the run game, boy, the past game
they've been terrific. I mean when Betser was in there,
he was threadning some needles. Yeah, now Bacus has to do.

Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
That penalty flag comes out, his back is running for
his life and now just tries to get rid of it.
Big hit that time at the thirty four yard line.
Good sportsmanship there by Rockford coming over and the penalty
flag thrown by the line of Scrimmagerong guessing going to
be a hold against Caladon.

Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
You have four to twenty one left to go on
this one. Thirty four to seven.

Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
Rams will really put their foot on the gas here
late in the third and early in the fourth to
put this one away. It's the Rams just three and two,
so they'll move to four and two after this victory
two and two and okay, red play. Still sorting out
this penalty now, Yeah, the other one's gonna come.

Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
That was for intentional ground right because backus did not
get the pass over the Lion scrimmage. He has a
case he had a guy attached to him at the
face mask, so it was a little rough throwing the
football forward.

Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
That's kind of a tough call. But either way, it's
gonna be a penalty.

Speaker 4 (01:53:17):
I mean, if you're Rockford, you probably just take the
one that gets you the loss of down and makes
it second down instead.

Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
Of first and along. But we'll see.

Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
I'm gonna talk it over with the defensive coordinator assistant
coach for Rockford figuring out what they want. Yeah, they're
gonna decline the holding penalty intentional grounding. They'll accept that one.
It's five yards, but the loss of down, like Buck mentioned,

(01:53:46):
saw that earlier, so Caledonia, they'll move them back five.
By the way, congratulations goes out calling number six to
our studios.

Speaker 3 (01:53:54):
And Joe Arett Michael Records of Grand Rapids.

Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Congratulations, Michael, you got a twenty five dollars gift card
courtesy of Wing Doozy, one of our great sponsors. So
it's enjoy some wings on US.

Speaker 4 (01:54:08):
Catholic Central widening the gap further against Allan Christian forty
two to ten, and well, I had doubts, but they're
gone now about Catholic Central. And boy, a terrific job
by David Aberger over there at howand Christian to get
them to a five and zero start, and Catholic Central.
You look at the schedule, I mean really the one
team that was of note was Pontiac Notre Dame, and

(01:54:31):
they got drilled by Pontiac Notre Dame. But you kind
of knew that Todd Coltzer was trying to get this
team to peak at the right time and it could
be happening.

Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Firing a strike BACKUS and the catches made right on
the Caledonia sideline in front of the bench by Lincoln
Senti across the forty back into the original line of scrimmage.
At the forty three for sixteen left to go, he
stopped the clock. He stepped out thirty four to seven.
So how about this next week home with the Hawks

(01:55:02):
looking forward to that forest tills Eastern and West Cathkin.
I really think that will be winner take all in
the Okay White Now Week eight, Week nine two benounced,
but we're really looking at Week eight Norfew hosting Holland Christy,
the two kind of surprise teams in that Okay Black.
Remember Norfew gets their shot at Rep A's Catholic Central
next week, Buck Gino.

Speaker 4 (01:55:21):
Yeah, and it's kind of surprising to see those two
teams at the top when you had a division with
East Grand Rapids and Catholic Central.

Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
That's where we're at.

Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Airs it out high incomplete under some duress again, Well,
those Rockford backers just come after you from all over.

Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
At last nine left to ago.

Speaker 4 (01:55:38):
Grandy Vanderven has him coming from every age, does every cadence.
I mean, he's just just putting them in kind of
a torturerect tonight. And the sophomore back is out there,
He's like, Okay, I've never seen any of this before.
I don't know what this is supposed to look like,
but this is also a good experience for him getting
some reps in a game that is clearly for all

(01:55:59):
intents and purposes.

Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
Over by the way, college football coming your way. Local
college football tomorrow, Davenport at home Monster game against number
two Grand Valley State, just down the road from where
we are at the Farm eleven forty five of the
pregame coverage, Rick Burkey and the crew noon kickoff right
here on ninety six to one the game. I'm gonna

(01:56:21):
head over there myself and catch some of the action.
Read Vogel and the dump off breaks and tackle cross
the midfields right. Penalty flag comes out late on that one,
and he is close to the first town marker. Well
it's at the forty eight yard line of Rockford.

Speaker 4 (01:56:36):
Well, he probably was going to get it, but they're
gonna bring this one back due to a whole downfield.

Speaker 2 (01:56:44):
And that'll be a spot file, so we'll see exactly
where they're gonna mark it off.

Speaker 3 (01:56:49):
So it's gonna be fourth down again, and that's okay.
They're bringing it all the way back to the forty three.
That's tough for Caldoing. That's just how the night's gone though.

Speaker 4 (01:56:57):
I mean they had so many opportunities in the first half,
I mean three type trips to the red zone and
no points and now they're down, you know, four minutes ago,
thirty four to seven, and you look at go back
and think, boy, if we could have just got some
points there, does that change how this game plays out?
And Rockford was able to survive three turnovers in the

(01:57:18):
first half and still come out with the lead. And
then they came out in the second half and boy,
just really exerted their will, especially on the ground. I
mean I talked about it in the pregame. They need
to find an identity. Well, they kind of got back
to old school of Rockford football, which is smash mouth,
down the throat, and they were successful with it tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:57:36):
How impressive offensive line In Isaac pute number thirty four,
back is aired out.

Speaker 3 (01:57:40):
Got Aeron Cowin's on the fly inside the.

Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
Twenty five for the first down on fourth and long.
And Aaron Collins already has that bad wheel. I hope
it's not the same ankle as he was dragged down
from behind. He's slow getting up. Tough kid, But how
about the throw? Sophomore to sophomore back is to number
one Aaron Collins.

Speaker 4 (01:58:00):
Boy, it's a just a tremendous throw and again getting
behind the defense right. It's been there. Betser missed a
couple in the first half, and they're able to get
behind that defense and just were able to connect with
that time.

Speaker 3 (01:58:12):
Back has just let her go and beside himself out.
He let anybody get behind you, right, and that is.

Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
Fourth down in forever. You know what's coming, right. And
then back as I like it too. He stood there.
He knew he was gonna take the hit. I tell
you through a terrific football.

Speaker 2 (01:58:28):
Isaac put is kind of a shoe in for Uptown
Chiefs Skate offensive player of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:58:32):
But Aaron Collins played a whale with game on the
other side.

Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
For count on how many big catches backus back to
pass throws across the middle, Lakee got his man, what
a catch with a herd all over him as a
battle of number twelves and bringing it down at the
one yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:58:49):
Lincoln SENTI, I mean just throwing ropes into tight windows.
I mean, you're saying all these names, but they still
got the ones out there. Ye out for the defense now,
there are a couple guys intermixed there, but there's the
defensive backfield is pretty much the ones, and Bacchus is
just carving them off with great throws.

Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
And remember this might be something they have to go
with the Bennon, we hope it's not a serious injury,
but with Rody.

Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
Betzer backus might have to be the guy for a
couple of games. And that's why Derek Penton He's like, hey,
I gotta figure this out. We're gonna have to go.
We have to use all the pages in the playbook.

Speaker 4 (01:59:23):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:59:23):
When he's in first and goal from just outside the one,
Bacchus out of the pistol formation, wants to throw under
some pressure, goes back near side, throws back then how
he had them, but incomplete just rushed it a little
bit and out of the fingertips of Layton fake.

Speaker 4 (01:59:38):
I mean, there was nobody even close to think but
you're right. Beckis did a great job of evading their
pressure and just couldn't set his feet and saw a
thing at the last minute and let it go. But boy,
a terrific effort by the young young sophomore quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
Thirty six yard touchdown run by Land and Tunggate Lade
and it looks like Byron the center's gonna survive. Up
forty two to twenty eight. Now at Reese Puffer.

Speaker 4 (02:00:04):
They don't ask col they ask how many, and that's
how many in the left hand column, they'll be five
for Byron center.

Speaker 2 (02:00:11):
Black is trying to run himself, falls into the end zone,
touchdown Caledonia from one yard out. Tough kid number ten.
The sophomore Bryce backus in a backup role. The injury
to Brody Betzer takes it in and something to build
on for that Caledonia offense. You mentioned most of the ones.
We're still out there. Thirty four to thirteen now extra

(02:00:34):
point up coming.

Speaker 3 (02:00:35):
Well, nice drive for the sophomore.

Speaker 4 (02:00:39):
Get some confidence in there, and you're right, I mean,
what's Betser's status for next week? Well they'll find that out,
but now they at least get back in some game
time reps.

Speaker 3 (02:00:48):
And he was pretty good in that stretch. Parker Little
now will have to be on for Betzer to do
the holding.

Speaker 2 (02:00:55):
For Brody Siler snap is good, hold his down, kick
us up line drive, but it's up and good. So
a two twenty four left to go on this one
at Ralphie Myer's Memorial Stadium. Our score now reads rock
Ford thirty four Calidoni thirteen. Back with war after this
timeout on ninety six y one the Game. A proud

This is the LMCU High School football Game of the
Week on ninety six to one.

Speaker 5 (02:02:22):
The game.

Speaker 2 (02:02:26):
Only one player back and the kick is going to
take a left hand turn of some battling going out
out of bounds, so the penalty flag will come out
for Caledonia, the kicking team. That last touchdown a big
touchdown for kids as we're starting to rack them up here.
Bryce Bachus on the one yard touchdown run for Caledonia,
who a fifty dollars donation made on his behalf from

(02:02:50):
LMCU to Kids Food Basket and that makes seven partner
on the night.

Speaker 3 (02:02:53):
So another big night for us.

Speaker 2 (02:02:55):
We had seventeen combined last week, and obviously Catholic Central
putting up some points late, so touchdowns for kids for
the Holland Christian Catholic Central game as well. We'll give
you the new total we do every week on Wood Radio.
Ninety six won the game, but thank you so much.
So far ac count here three hundred and fifty dollars
this week in this game, first down and ten, so

(02:03:17):
backups in there for Rockford. Now we'll try to give
you the numbers on the handoff from right to left
they carry that time. The Warner Madden Warner senior running
back who was getting some starter duty, Braydon Daniels is
still in there, by the way, a quarterback kind of
surprised by that.

Speaker 11 (02:03:40):
All right back in the studios, Rick Burkey, we'll get
back to that game in the final a couple of
minutes ur and just second, a few scores still coming in.
We've got a big thing. A couple of interesting scores
from the Zealand area. Zealand westby Forestis Central twenty eight
to seven to nine. Lucas Simbo will have a full
report in our high school scoboord show. An interesting battle
going on Zealand East and South Christians and East was

(02:04:00):
dominating the game, leading twenty two to seven with eight
and a half to go. South Christian though, got a
touchdown and a two point conversion to get back within
seven twenty two to fifteen, and then Zealand East was
driving for what would have been a clinching score but
got stopped on the five yard line. South Christian got
the ball back and they are now driving. They're inside
Zealanese territory with just under two minutes ago, trailing twenty

(02:04:21):
two to fifteen again Zealand. He's twenty two South Christian
fifteen a South Christian driving hoping to gain a tie
or take the lead. At the end of that one.

Speaker 2 (02:04:29):
I'll back to you guys, all right, thank you, Rick
Moore coming up with Rick and our live game reporters
in the scoreboard show as Rockford keeps on the ground
here now third down and five coming up from their
own forty minute and ticking left to go on this one.
So a couple more snaps in Rockford can put this
one in the books. We'll get you to our discount door.
Postgame show Daniels rolling to his rights trying to throw

(02:04:52):
an East sacked behind the lone of scrimmage coming in.

Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
I'm surprised he is still in there.

Speaker 2 (02:04:57):
But for Caledonia, that's Capri Thomas, the junior linebacker with
the sack all the way back at the thirty four
yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:05:07):
I guess the question would be, who is the backup quarterback?
Do we even know who that might be? Yeah, it
might be why he's still out there because.

Speaker 2 (02:05:17):
Of course he can come in and quarterback. They also
have a senior list in on the roster as well.
But now fourth down, Rockford is gonna pun it away
and they can basically punt it and that'll be the
end of the game. No one back teap for Caledonia.
Thirty four to fourteen, Rockford twenty point lead on the road.
Gonna isis one away and pick up win number four

(02:05:38):
on the season. Oh, they just get it away. Pump
block was on for Caledonia, get no one back, so
they'll let it hit and roll and that'll take us
to the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (02:05:49):
They down at the.

Speaker 2 (02:05:50):
Twenty eight yard line, so the Rams of Rockford avoid
the three game losing streak. Here buck Gino, tonight is
they win it over Caledonia. Thirty four fourteen, the final
big night for touchdowns for kids. With seven on the board,
three hundred and fifty dollars added to our total. That
puts us over the four thousand mark for the season.
And we've got a lot to get to coming up

(02:06:12):

the break, we'll announce our uptown Chiefskate offensive player of

Poote touchdown, this time from one yard out. Then Caledonia
late in the second quarter, scoring on a twelve yard
touchdown pass from Besser to Lincoln Senti that narrowed the

(02:11:12):
gap to thirteen to seven at the break. Then Rockford
really poured it on in the second half. Four yard
touchdown run by Isaac Poote twenty to seven, blocked punt
recovered in the end zone by Corbyn Starkey twenty seven
to seven, and then another one yard touchdown run, this
time by Tommy Becker, the senior thirty four to seven
backus Bryce Backus, the backup quarterback for Caledonia. He came

beat spring Lake forty two to twenty eight. Listen to
the numbers for Landon Tongugate from Fort Sills Eastern. He
threw for one hundred and fifty one yards and two
touchdowns and he ran for two hundred and thirty eight
yards and three scores on the ground. Econ for five
touchdowns again for SILS Eastern, though had to come from
behind in the second half to beat spring Lake thirty

(02:16:51):
four to twenty eight. West Catholic shutout at home a
big one thirty eight nothing over Whalen Union in the
Okay Black Catholic Central beat Holland Christian two eighteen. In
our Lake Shore Game of the Week in the Okay Goals,
Zealand West beat Forest Central. We'll have a complete report

forty two to twenty. Now back for our final segment
of the post game show in Caledon.

Speaker 2 (02:17:29):
You guys, all right, thank you Rick, and don't forget
Rick has another edition on Monday night of the Fox
Motorspiag Skin Party. The East Kentwood Falcons will be his guest.
Tough loss for them tonight against Grandville and that'll be
at fox Ford right there on twenty eighth Street, Monday night,
six to seven, right here on ninety six.

Speaker 3 (02:17:48):
One the game.

Speaker 2 (02:17:48):
All right, let's hand out some awards. We've got our
Highlight of the game coming up courtesy off J. Nate's
Family Stores. But you know, I'll start with you with
tonight's uptown cheapskate offensive player of the game.

Speaker 4 (02:17:58):
Probably the guy that had an ninety yard touchdown run
on the first play is arguably in the running or
in the lead. And yeah, Isaac put three touchdowns on
the ground. Of course that ninety yard touchdown run, but
still just the solid performance. And I said it before
the game started, Bratt Rockford needs an identity. They didn't
really kind of they didn't have one. They lost two games.

(02:18:21):
The game that we did against Grandville, their offense wasn't
I would say not was not clicking. It's not at
full capacity when we saw them, and they struggled and
they lost two straight games, and they came in here
tonight and they decided that they were just going to
be an old school smash mouth football team. And that's
what they did. And Isac put was the guy that
gave the ball to I mean a tremendous athlete. He

(02:18:42):
had the over one hundred and fifty yards in the
first half. We didn't get finals, but I mean he
had to be pretty close to two hundred yards by
the end of the night. Three touchdowns, that's what they
need to do. I mean, they've got five kids who
are going to be playing college football on Saturdays up front,
and they can ball, and they had to let them
do that, and that's what happened tonight. So Isaac our
Uptown Cheapskate offensive player of the Game with three touchdowns

(02:19:03):
on the ground tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:19:04):
Yeah, he was impressive.

Speaker 2 (02:19:05):
That offensive line got back to the identity that we
thought they'd have at the start of the year running
the football and Senior ISAAC Pute number thirty four for
Rockford Tonight's Uptown Cheapskate Player of the Game Offensively, he
will score twenty five dollars gift con and do some
shopping on us ISAAC locations in Granville, Kentwood, and Holland.

deals at Uptown Cheapskate dot com. Well, we had a
lot of standout performances for this Rockford defense that had
answer the bell against the throwing game of Brody Betzer.
But tonight's Montel construction defensive.

Speaker 3 (02:19:36):
Player of the game.

Speaker 2 (02:19:37):
We called his number a ton And how about sophomore
linebacker number thirty Wyatt Colson Tonight's Montel Construction defensive player
of the Game. Hey, if you need to get something

cottage in the area, Montel Construction can help you out.

It's powered by them improving communities by going beyond the
hospital walls. That's what Trinityhealth Michigan is all about. And
now finally, to have to wrap things up. Our J
and H Family Stores highlight of the game. You touched
on it earlier. When you have a ninety yard touchdown
run the first play from scrimmage for the Rockford offense. Yeah,

(02:20:40):
that's probably gonna be our highlight the work from their
own eleven man in motion left to right, Isaac Pooter's
a home run here over the left side.

Speaker 3 (02:20:47):
Gotta crease across the twenty, breaks a tackle across the thirty.
Still on his feet.

Speaker 2 (02:20:50):
Now down the sideline, Parker little trying to get the angle.
He's not gonna hitside the twenty, hitside the ten touchdown.
Isaac Poots goes the house eighty nine yards for a
store and one of the keys tonight buck Gina, we
were talking about, get the ball, the hands and number
thirty four.

Speaker 3 (02:21:08):
He is electric, folks, Isaac boot There.

Speaker 2 (02:21:12):

(02:21:33):
head coaches tonight helping us with our broadcast stats and
information leading into this one. Well partner before we toss
it out to a break and get to the scoreboard show.

Speaker 3 (02:21:43):
Next week, we're going to Hawk Country.

Speaker 2 (02:21:45):
West Catholic at Fort Soles Eastern should be a good
one in the Oka White.

Speaker 4 (02:21:49):
Yeah. Fort Hills Eastern went to all ten rounds tonight
with spring Lake before finally pulling out in front of
that one and winning that game. But boy, they gave
West Catholic all they wanted to a couple of weeks ago.
It did Spring Lake, So if you look at the
transitive property, we should have a good one next week
Forrest Hill's Eastern. You know, they they made a lot

(02:22:12):
of strides last year getting to the district final against
South Christian coming up just short, and they kind of
felt like this year could be their year. Getting Brendan
Thompson back to throw the football at quarterback for his
senior year, Max Ferrick doing a great job of running
the football. They've got some good offensive lineman, some defensive lineman, a.
Simonson dam denew you know, they've got a whole host

(02:22:33):
of kids up front that can really maul. And then
you got Wes Katholic, who, you know, we didn't really
know what to expect out of them after this season
or coming up from last season, losing a lot of
players from that team, and boy, you know, they kind
of started rough. They played that team down in Cincinnati
Cincinnia Elder. Cincinnati Elder lost the close one, but I
think they really opened some eyes when they were.

Speaker 3 (02:22:54):
Able to bully Coopersville the way they did.

Speaker 4 (02:22:56):
Cooper's Ville not a bad team at all, but Wes
Catholic just dispatched them with relative ease. And coming into tonight,
you kind of felt this was going to be the
Okay White Championship. We thought they would be the Oka
White Championship in Week one and definitely is going to
be the Okay White Championship now. And two good teams
going at it first time that they've played each other

(02:23:16):
in the regular season, so West Catholic and Forest Hills Eastern.
It should be a good matchup, should be pretty physical,
and both teams should be excited. Two good coaches, just
really really exciting high school football Next week.

Speaker 2 (02:23:29):
Six o'clock kicks it off with the Genius Family Stores
pregame show seven o'clock The Kickoff, John Ilkar, Executive Producer night,
Great job, Johnny. You would hear from Rick and Joe
Ert and our crew coming up for bucc Gino. My
name is Brett Pakeita, saying so long here from Ralphie
Myers Memorial Stadium for this week sixth edition of the
LFCU High School Football Game of the Week, as once
again our final score Rockford thirty four, Caledonia fourteen,
