Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is game Night on WAXFM, Holland Grand Rapids ninety
six to one the game and iHeart radio station.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
All right, buck Gino. Both teams making their way out
onto the field. Here a wildcat stadium. They threw us
off a little bit with the scoreboard time, but that's
all right. My quick thought on Evan Aberger before we
get into Keys to the Contest with bung Gino, is
you look at his numbers thirty of thirty eight, three
hundred yards passing to that win last week, four through
the air, as far as touchdowns, two more running. So
(00:37):
he is a personal quarterback. But his dad was so
proud of him in the way he's worked for his
wide receivers. But a lot of time into the offseason
it has shown twenty one touchdown passes over fourteen hundred
yards coming in was still two weeks left in the
regular season and zero interceptions. Well, that kicks us.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Rector to the Vanwine Keys to the Contest for Howland
Christian turning the football over. They can't do it. I mean,
you've got out a team in Northview that loves to
play that that possession game. They will just I don't
want to say Bori to death, but they'll they'll.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Just keep punching the face until you give out.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
They do love to control that clock because they have
that good defense, and Ryan Ashnak loves that style of football.
For Northview, what they've got to be able to do
is they've got to be able to kind of shut
everything out right. This is a game. This is clearly
the biggest game that they've played in to date in
their careers. It's a blackout game, it's a conference championship game,
(01:31):
it's the last home game of the regular season for them.
There's a lot going on, but there's a talented team
on the other side that wants to ruin a.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Lot of that.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
So they just have to really get into a good
mental spot and just make sure they don't get too high,
too low, and go out and play their game.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Jake Johnson set to kick things off from Northview, moving
right to left in the radio down. Obviously for the
blackout game, all black jerseys mats red numbers with the
white trainman of course, the familiar through the years, Norfew
redcat absolute the light end on the side of the
white line, down the middle low line driving kick that
one angle out of bounds and it will draw a
penalty flag to start this football game. We'll set the
(02:09):
defensive starters for Northview for you.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
In a minute.
Speaker 2 (02:12):

You know each and every game broadcast with eighty years
in the business. Bandalion Ho Improvement offers top notch contractor
services to customers in West Michigan called six one, six
sixty six, nine eleven eleven. For more details of visit
Vandalions double a on lines dot com. Will you take
a look at the starting lineups defensively for Northview. They
(02:32):
really love their defensive line. A couple of big fellows
up front, Will Davis to listen for KeAndre Johnson and
then Carson Ginn fifty five, fifty eight and fifty from
left to right. Ben Duffy is an outside linebacker Will
seniora who got banged up in that Catholic Central game
last week and normally a two way starter. Gonna try
and play as much as he can on defense tonight.
We'll see if he's out there now. First down to
(02:54):
ten man in motion, quick pitch, trying to get to
the edge and great job Northfiew defensively coming up in
a hurry as the pitch goes that time to Isaiah Meerd,
the junior running back, and he gets just a yard
across the thirty five to the thirty six member first
in ten, goodfield position to start this drive after the
opening kickoff.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Went out of bounds. Danny Robock coming from a safety spot.
Good job there of pursuit, recognizing the play and cutting
down Meyer.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Before I could get too fired.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Your other ice outside linebacker, I should say you're Mike
Linebacker's Easton Hennanan. He is one of the captains, number twenty.
Grayson Corlan is your will linebacker on the inside. Danny
Robock and Brady Becker your safeties. They'll come up aggressively
on the run, stop high snap over the head. Aberger
gathers himself, fires a strike but too low. That one
(03:46):
hit the turf. Just trying to get some positive average
on the curl route. After a broken play with a
bad snap, incomplete third down and nine now coming up.
Opening series this game, Holing Christian started an offense left
to go on the first and one thing with Holland
Christian is they will extend the game out with all
the passing attempts that's a really good job there by
(04:07):
Evan Hamberger.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
A terrible snap over his head and he just picks up,
rolls out and almost completes the pass out there to
groating heist. But it's still gonna be third and long.
It would have been third along either way. But just
a really nice job there of Amberger not panicking and
not losing a lot of yardage.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Two wide receivers each way, one back in the backfield.
Aberger looking to his rights now flushed out of the
pocket and tuck in run giving chase one of the
defensive line. I know a late penalty flag coming out,
and that's gonna be a tomp penalty. I think it
gets norfew maybe a hit out of bounds near the forty.
He was gonna be five yards short of that first
down marker. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
And the thing for here, we don't see the angle
because it's covered up, but the official coming from the
back saw it pretty clearly and through the flag almost.
That's a tough spot for the defender because the sideline,
as you know, the twelfth defender. But you he's gotta
be careful over there because if you lower the boom
and he's already stepped out of bounce. More often than that,
(05:05):
you're gonna see that flag come out. That's just a tough,
aggressive penalty. There's nothing much you can tell the kid,
but that's a tough one to give up on third
down because that would have been a punting situation.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Junior defensive lineman Keande Johnson getting the late hit out
of bounds fifteen yard penalty first inten Holland Christian puts
him into Wildcat territory. They go pitch wide side to
Meyer trying to get out around the edge. Good job
extending the playout, he won't get back to the line
of scrimmage. Great job by Northiew their secondary coming up
in a hurry of that time, Buck.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Gino Brady Becker coming from the free safety spot this time.
Good job of extending and stretching the play out to
the sideline, not giving up the edge. Good job by
the linebacker out there, I think that was Dubie. Just
drags his man out there and they end up losing
the yard.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Corners to finish off the starters for the Wildcats defense,
Julian Charity number twenty two and Colin Gessner number nine
eleven after a tackle for a loss as they tried
to go wide on first in ten, working from the
Wildcat forty seven, firing a shot real short incomplete though
that time was Aberger intended receiver, but knocking her way
(06:15):
was groten Heiss, and there were two black defenders over there.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
For well, they're gonna talk about this one a little
bit because the side official threw his bean bag and
then the umpire came in and signaled didn't complete.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Can't really unring that bell.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Oh personal file, we got a face mask.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Wasn't his bean bag, it was the flag. I saw
him throw something on the ground. I didn't know, I
couldn't see. I thought maybe it was the bean bag.
But then the Empire rushed in the signal incomplete.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
But groden Heist did did kind of move unnaturally.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
They gave up the ball, but we just thought it
was a hard tackle and he was in amongst some
black in traffic eight. But two biggest players in this
drive have come because of penalties.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, we didn't talk about that in our key's the game,
but you certainly don't want to be doing that.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Aberger just kind of swings out, rolling to his right,
dumps it off almost like a screen and stacked up
after a short gain. If he got back to the
lines scrimmage Cropece, Oh actually got dragged back? You lost three.
I'm gonna say back to the thirty five yard. I'll
tell you what this Northview defense pursues. Well, let's give
you the starters offensively for Holland Christian tonight, we mentioned
(07:24):
Abergare at quarterback. Wide receivers, they list four of A
plus a tight end Croton Heist is one of them
along with Josh Ruxford. Then you've got gab Gabe Kenfara,
the big tight end. He had a big game last
week over one hundred yards receiving and a touchdown. And
then Desmond Meer number ten great athlete, a senior second
(07:44):
down and thirteen upcoming for Holland Christian running back as
Isaiah Myerd. And then we'll give you the offensive lineman,
which has kind of been patchwork up front for juniors.
Starting tonight for coach Aberger Evan now rolling to his
laft Aberger trying to find some running room that a
(08:04):
tucket and inside the thirty got a first down. Nice
job show want some speed there in an extra gear
inside the twenty five being pursued by a couple of wildcats,
and he gets the first down just inside the twenty two. Well,
they had really no time to look at the defense.
The play came in pretty slowly.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Now they will go to the sidelines, Evan to the dad,
the coach and get the play just like Derrick Pennington
and Ralph Munger and Nold and all those guys like
to do, and they'll kill come out.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
He came out.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
They were already counting under ten on the play clock.
He had no chance to diagnose the defense and then
just makes a great improvisation, gets out there and makes
the first down.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Game to fourteen, moves to chains first in ten. They
work for the North for your twenty one no score
opening drive. Isaiah Meyer again bouncing the outside, breaks attackle
inside the ten five touchdown, takes it in from twenty
one yards out. That's the running game that they missed
against Brown. Rappends Catholic Central, and you can see it's
a point of emphasis that junior Isaiah Myerd takes it
(09:05):
in for six for Holland Christian.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Well, clearly the two personal foul penalties helped fuel that drive,
but Howland Christian on the ground doing the job, and
Meyer just turns the corner, breaks and tackle and then
gets out ahead of everybody's showing his great speed.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Cayden Van he is a very good kicker. Snap is
a go and hold his down, doesn't get all of it,
but puts it up. Pay and through and with nine
forty seven left to go on the opening corner here
at Wildcats Stadium, Holland Christian finds Paynard first. They leaned seven.
Nothing over North for you, We'll come back with mores.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
We see all of you. Repekita but Gino back here
at Northview High School Wildcats Stadium and Caden Van heis
with the kickoff, driving, jailing Gant, one of the deep
men for Northview, back in his own one yard line,
takes it on the fly, comes near side, got some
(11:06):
blocking across the ten, fifteen to twenty, still on his
feet and across the thirty five, lowers the shoulder in
the boom and out to the thirty seven yard line.
It'll be first and ten Wildcats there. We'll set the
offense for you after this play. First down in ten,
quickly up over the football, handoff Gant near side, can'ts.
Speaker 9 (11:22):
Got a hole, can't inside the forty, get off to
the races twenty five fifteen ten five touchdown Jalen Gants
sixty three yards for the score on the first play
from scrimmage, and it was just a sweep to the
near side.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Buck Gino.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Well, they like this junior running back with the explosive speed. Wow,
and he just turns outside the numbers and there's nobody
there for ound Christian beats the pursuit to the sideline
and this turns it up and a great answer for
the Wildcats. First play from scrimmage, sixty three yards to
the house.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Irving talented senior quarterback just hands it off to number
one and gets out of the way. Good blocking on
the edge, the offensive line doing a great job of that.
As you mentioned, once he turned the corner, no one
was there. As Oscar Sanchez one are the heroes last
week with a couple of nice field goals at twelve
to three, one over Granappit's Catholic central tags on the
extra point and just like that, the scoring fest is
(12:21):
on nine twenty nine left to go in the opening quarter.
Our score in Northview seven Holland Christian seven and you're
listening to it live right here. On ninety six to
one the game.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
This is the LMCU High School football game of the week.
On ninety six to one the game.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Pam Proyan check that Jake Johnson to kick it off,
taking on the fly at the ten yard line, coming
near side, twenty it out across the twenty five, then
hit and dropped at the twenty six yard line. Isaiah Meyer,
who had that twenty one yard touchdown run for Holland.
Christian Now answered with a sixty three yard score their
first play from scrimmage by Northfields. Jalen gan't check on
(13:35):
the extra points and already we've got one hundred dollars
raised for LMCU and touchdowns for kids. This could be
quite a shootout tonight here at the OK Corral.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah, that penn a AWMCU is gonna be smoking potentially
after this football game, because this one has the trappings
of what could be a shootout. I know that Northview
likes to play that close defensive style, but both offenses
like to get out in space, and so far I
have found the ability.
Speaker 11 (14:01):
To do so.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Handoff near sidemiring excuse me, Mid cuts back at the
thirty nice pickup that time. Good block up by the
offensive line up front, as they'll spot him down at
the thirty four yard line. Good for a gain of
eight second and two upcoming. Well, our starting lives tonight
brought to you by Sporting You branding your success since
twenty twelve. We have what you need to look at
your best. I know we're looking good tonight. Thank you
(14:24):
to Sporting You and Danny Brown. Check out their gear
att inventory online at Sporting the Letter dot com. So
second down and two, we'll see if things settled down
a little bit. But I guess surprised on the fact
that some big run plays in this game already with
both teams. I know Norfew's more balanced than Holland. Christian
likes to throw the ball, but boy, the defenses have
some work to do here to try to slow down
(14:47):
these offenses a little bit. Two wide receivers to the left,
one to the right handoff and not getting back to
the line of scrimmage. Well on that time ed the
carry for Holland, Christian was number three and that is
noa feak junior running back rotting in.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
For the Maroons who mere returns kicks and he's had
the touchdown run so he needed to blow And then
Fike comes in and.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Great job there, And that's Julian Charity.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
If you're a West Michigan football officionado, you know his dad,
Dion Charity ran into his coach from Kelloggsville. Don Golster,
is helping out Ashdock and his staff here at Northview,
but Dion's sun.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Julian with a great play there from the corner and
stuffing that for no game. Taking a snap, Aberger rolling
to his left, avoided a man throws on the run,
intercepted at the forty three yard line, and that's his
first interception of the twenty twenty four season. Great job
(15:48):
stepping in by Northfiear's Grady Becker the safety to pick
it off. And that was one of your keys Bucchino turnovers.
Who could get more defensively, And now that sets up
this Wildcats offense with a short field first in ten,
they'll mark him down after the I int at the
Maroons forty three yard line. Not only is it a
turnover bet, but it's in your own end of the field.
(16:10):
So Northview after that one play drive with Gant going
to the house now gets an inn plus territory to
set up for their second one armount irving out of
the pistol formation, two wide receivers left, one right, watch
the throw sets fires. Got a man out in the
flats complete at the thirty five and that's his favorite target.
AJ Johnson, the junior inside the thirty knocked out of
(16:32):
bounds at the twenty seven yard line. There to knock
him out defensively was Griffin lew the sophomore cornerback. Some
youngsters for Holland Christry mentioned starting that freshman linebacker tonight
as well due to injury. Yeah, they've got a lot
of guys in there that have not been playing as
much during the season and getting a trial by fire.
(16:54):
Some basketball athletes as well for the Wildcats starring on
the football side. Oh, Gant Now got the ball stripped
nice jo by Holland Christian and they're gonna pick it up.
The guy who stripped it came up with it inside
the twenty five at the twenty four, and that's William Grant.
They're outstanding middle linebacker, the junior who coach Aberger has
said played a whale of a season so far, just
(17:16):
keeps getting better every week. Well, just a great play there,
turning it up. He'll try to cut inside and just
a great strip there by William Grant, and then he
goes and gets the football.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
That's a wonderful play there by Grant.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
A big momentum turner right after the interception by Aberger
to get the ball right back just two plays later.
So kind of saving the bacon of the Maroons with Grant.
And let's see what they can do now. With the
ball back to them right away.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
First down in ten, just inside the holland Christen twenty five.
We'll call it the twenty four one way receiver to
the right stack, too tight to the left, right off
the left tackle. Now a man in motion that way,
they'll go trips to the white side of the field. Meyer.
They want him to run it, pitching it wide. Nice
cut up and makes a man miss still on his
feet fighting for extra gottage towards the thirty and they'll
(18:04):
give him four in progress at the twenty nine. Isaiah
meyerd running hard there, and he had some nice blocks
on the edge. Only a junior is number twenty three.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, that's a quick pitch out there, and gets to
the edge and sees what he can do that time
he cuts in inside. Still good pursuit by the defensive
backs from north View. But now myred starting to change
direction and get to a different lane. The point of
the tag gets shifted a little bit and picks up
five there. You'll take that on first down every time,
(18:35):
first down or second down, and five is always a
good spot to be.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Desmond mired split wide right. He's got two wide receivers inside.
As they go trips that way to the wide side
of the field. Aberger takes his snap, rolling to his
left legs to throw on the run. Not big inside,
so he'll move out of the pocket and it's complete.
On the catch that time was Simon Groteneiss for Holland Christian.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Oh you know they ruled him out of boun Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
He was working that sideline on the far side, right
in front of the maroon's bench. We thought it was
a good catch. He made the grab, obviously, but they
say no out of bounds. This opening quarner being brought

three four twenty nine or visit straight Line Fences dot com,
a proud sponsor of Blackout Night Tonight here at Northview
as well. Third in five taking the snap play fake
looking looking, got time sets fires high passed, but made
the catch and he got out of bounds and got
the first down. That was crafty maneuver. In that time
by Groten heis. He paid it off last time for
(19:45):
saying he was out of bounds. It gets the first
down across the thirty five out to the thirty six
yard line. Fresh set of down, a.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Little bit of a hot throw there by Aberger over
the middle and Groden Heights just reaches up and snatches
it down and then picks up the first down running
across the thirty five.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
That's a great play there by Groton.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Heis pretty good coverage on the back side, but boy,
that's just an athletic play there by Groton.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Heis and keeps the drive alive gain of seven to
move the chains first in ten right at the halfway
point in the opening quarter, six minutes left to go.
Handoff mired from right to left and he just hit
a wall of black was pushed back, no gain. Great
job defensively there for this Northview defense. And I tell
you they are tough upfront. We talked about their linebackers
(20:33):
easton Hennandan, one of the captains number twenty, Grayson Corlin
in there as well on that stop. Pretty generous give
him the line of scrivage as the forward progress spot
because maybe they were confused with all the black there,
because I don't think he got across the thirty five,
but just a great defensive pursuit and presence there, getting
(20:53):
out there on the edge, collapsing the point of attack
and really making it tough form. Iired second down and
ten trip's right. Aberger looking that way, has this man
of the curl route on the inside complete. That's Gabe
Confara the tight end as senior. He's like an extra
wide receiver out there, and he gets it across the
forty to the forty one chop there after. The catch
(21:14):
gain of five sets up a manageable third in five
for Holland Christian and I'm impressed by the composure of
the Maroons. You know, after you're throw at a reception,
your first of the year, you're thinking, okay, is he
gonna have happy feet? Aberger has sent a nice job
of settling down and getting right back into rhythm.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
They like that smash concept on the outside with Trips,
So they run the inside receiver across and then they
run the middle receiver, which is Conferra the tight end.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
He's in the middle of that trio.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
He goes inside and the defensive back has to choose
does he go at the guy going to the sideline
or does he follow Confera at that time he followed
the sideline around.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
That opened it up.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Nice little pitch and catch for five. Gonfera in the
slot right with mired. Now they dump it across middle
screen for the wide receiver rolling his groating. Heist into
Northview territory and he had some blockers in front. Well
set up. Good job releasing by the lineman, but not
too early. He's inside the north View forty all the
way down of the thirty six yard line. Big game
(22:10):
there of twenty three. Oh, that was a great call.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Northew pinned its ears back yep and brought everybody plus
the tuba section and then Aberger just dumps it off
middle streen to Groton highest and good blocking up front.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Pick up a nice chunk play there, Groat.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Nice and the slot left Bruxford over there as well,
first and ten Aberger looking that way. Excuse me, Aberger
and incomplete off the fingertips near the sideline that time
for Croton. Ice stops the clock with three fifty four
lefty opening quarter tied it's seven apiece in this okay
Black Conference showdown between north View and Holland.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Christian Aberger a little bit off so far. When I
watched him this summer, did a great job striding through
the ball. This one, he's thrown a lot high. What
that usually means is he's kind of thrown off the
back foot a little bit, not driving through the foot ball,
trying to get out of there quick, knowing that the
Northview pressure is coming. Just got calmed down a little
bit the head time there to make that completion. Evan
(23:07):
will get it corrected.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Seni in the slot over there directing traffic. They're so
happy to have him back, at least on the defensive side. Tonight,
two wide receivers left one right. Aberger are throwing incomplete
behind the intended receiver. That time he was looking for
Bruxford at about the thirty two yard line, so thirty
to ten after the incompletion, ball sits at the Northview
(23:29):
thirty six and a half yard line. Holland Christin will
trying to convert here. But both teams have kind of
been going up and down the field and it's very
entertaining first quarter, and.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
One just throws a little bit late on the timing
routes acrossing pattern. The wide receivers guide inside leverage on
the defender and Aberger just throws a little bit behind him,
but brings up third and ten and now they're.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
In that spot.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Brat, this is two plays to make ten. They're not
putting from here. I'm not kicking a field goal. They
got two plays Desben mired by him, so elf wide right,
they have another wide receiver stack close to the line
of squarant aberg Or going up top, got single coverage incomplete,
knocked away. Good job step for step. They were going
for Groton he Ice. We had a big game last
(24:13):
week over one hundred yards receiving for him. But nice
job defensively to knock it away in the northfield secondary
making the play to force fourth down in ten. But
as you mentioned, the offense gonna stay out here for
Holland Christian.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
You guys surprised to go with that play there because
I know they have two plays, but usually you throw
something medium, trying to make it a little bit more
manageable on fourth down. Instead, they tried to go up
top and good coverage down the sideline. He just didn't
have any way to fit it in there, and now
it's gonna be fourth and then now they have to
get it past the sticks.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
I think it was Colin Gessner knocked it away that
time for norfew against Croton I S four down in
ten trips lamp one receiver right is mid Look, God,
here's some pressure, Henness. He throws incomplete behind the intender
receiver was close to the sticks. But Aberger took a
shot that time. And guess who back in the lineup.
(25:05):
Sen Ea was the guy who decked him after he
released a football, forced it a little bit early in
a turnover on downs with his Northview defense coming up
first and ten, they give it back to the offense
tied at seven at their own thirty six yard line. Yeah,
they run a little bit of a twist up front.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
The senior cuts in down the middle of a gap
and they had cut that open and senior just come
through unblocked and Aberger just has to deal and throw
away before he takes a big loss.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
But that's a great call there on fourth down to
get the pressure.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Three wide receivers set also wingbacksack to the near side.
They try to run that way. Gan't dropped. Nice job
defensively or Holland Christian. Coming over was William Grantigin to
make them play loss of one back at the thirty five.
Tell you what number nine is tough as one of
the middle linebackers in there for Holland Christian. Hey, we
want to take a moment and say congratulations to Northfield
(25:58):
head coach Ryan Oshnot this week's Detroit Lions high school
football coach of the Week for the State of Michigan,
off of last week's big victory over Graft's Catholic Central
and give him the Wildcats to this impressive seven to
zero start. Now motion a man from right to left,
Irving out of the shotgun fire across the middle. He's
got Van Frey and wide hop that's Jake Johnson. Excuse me,
inside the thirty breaks a tackle inside the ten five touchdown.
(26:24):
Jake Johnson, the senior wide receiver, just ran the post
route down the middle of the field in a nice
stroll by arm On Irving set his feet, hit him
in stride, and then Johnson did the rest as he
held off the defender with the ankle tackle and takes
it to the house.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah, Johnson just runs a skinny post and he's going
up against William Grant the linebacker and he just blows
right past him. Great ball by Irving and then Jake
Johnson does the rest sixty five yards.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Wow, big play for North View. Both over sixty to
put touchdowns on the board. As Oscar Sanchez will try
and tack out the extra pornit he does with two
fifty five left to go of this open each quarter,
so North Few retakes the lead now fourteen to seven.
I should say for the first time tonight over Holland Christian.
(27:18):
We'll step aside with the time out of the field.
As you're listening to this week eight edition of the
LFCU High School Football Game of the Week Live, you're
on ninety six to one the game Reppikita of ninety
six to one the game here. And knowing who to

Matt Fortuna and Joever Gowie and their great team at

Speaker 1 (28:01):
This is the LMCU high school football game of the
Week on ninety.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Six to one. The game, Jake Johnson to quickly catch
his breath because he's got to kick the ball off
for Northview. Take it just inside the ten by myerd
bounce to the outside. Look, guy, he's got some running
across the thirty still on his feet across the forty
trying to fight Rerexiaritan does to the forty five yard
line and a late penalty flag and to come out.
(28:28):
I saw that what happened. A Northview kickoff man came
down and just hits a holing Christian kick return mat
he was trying to block down field blind side and
coach Asnack is not happy as he's talking to his
troops there they're gonnattack on fifteen more yards here after
(28:48):
a great return by Mired out to the forty five. Again,
another costly personal file penalty against Norfew. That's the third
already we're still in the opening Quarterbuck yells on your Keys.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I mean you can't I give forty five free yards
to anybody much less an offense that of Holland Christian's ability.
And now they get to start there, for there's the
drive inside north Views territory. So a big return by
myred and then another fifteen yards puts it in plus territory.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Coach Osh is hot too, I don't blame him. He
gets storm of that sideline first down and ten. So
it'll start now. This drive for Holland Christian, as Buck
mentioned at the Northview forty yard line, des been mired
in motion. They'll bring him in tight now on the
right side, hand off and coming near side, hit hard
in the backfield and get what he could to get
(29:42):
somewhat positive gardage inside the forty but short of the
thirty nine. And I'm the curious that time for Holland
Christian was Noah feak in there for myred second and ten,
They're gonna say, now back in the forty yard line,
no gain. That was Danny Robock.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
I think cam up from a safety spot and oh greeted.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Peak one run receiver wide left. They have tight trips
to the right, working for the middle field hand offf
feak trying to come and turn the corner the near
side lowers to Schulder, he's inside the forty for positive yardage,
so they mark him out of bounds. They're gonna give
him to the thirty six of Northview. Charity was over
(30:30):
there to knock him out defensively after a gain of force.
So third and six coming up Rowland Christ and then
again they get into a spot where it's two plays
to get six yards here.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Then when I like to call the gray zone, it's
the forty to the twenty.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
You can't really punt, You can't probably kick a field
goal for most high school teams, so gotta go for it.
So I guys want to see a little bit different
play call here because last.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Time I'm third down in this area of the field,
they went up top that one got knocked away and
they were forced into a long pass and Northew was
able the blitz on that play and knock it down.
So see what they can do here. Ben Duffy also
over there from the linebacker position to knock him out.
Aberger rolling to his left trying to buy some time.
(31:12):
Oh did he make the grab? He went up and
finger tipped it and they're gonna say it was a
catch down at the twenty yard line by Confara the
tight end. Wow, that was a little high on the release.
He went up with this big frame, tipped it to
himself and then made a dive. He catched for the
first down.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
And they're gonna market it the twenty one.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
So a big play though twenty three yards another long
development play.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Aberger rolls out to his left. I thought he was
gonna run it, and by he thought that he was
gonna do until he saw a big Conferra in position
to make the catch and threw it.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
I think if he sets his feet there probably a
better thrown. Still complete to a Confero with a great
athletic play, Cape Knfara.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Great catch Aberger firing down the sideline left side and
behind his tender receiver. He make the grabb he did brodenheist.
What a circus catch there. Boy Aberger is getting some
help from his wide receivers here, as on first down
they pick up nine down to the twelve yard line.
Second and short coming up from the maroon.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
I think that was tipped at the line of scrimmage
bread or at least there's something got a piece of
it because that ball just died after he got over
the line of scrimmage. But Groenheist still able to come
back and make a great catch on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
What an opening quarter here a Wildcats Stadium, fourteen to
seven north Over Holland Christian. But the Maroons are driving
in the red zone. We come back to start the
second quarter. As you're listening to a Week eight edition
of the LFCU High School Football Game of the Week
live here on ninety six to one the Game.

Today, high school football is back and West Michigan is
scoring touchdowns for kids. Kids Food Basket is honored to
be the official nonprofit for ninety six to one the
Game and one oh seven mus with the high school
Football Games of the Week with every touchdown score during
each game of the week, LMSU will generously give fifty
dollars to Kids Food Basket, supporting programs that provide healthy
(33:34):
food access and education. You can get on the action
too by doining in honor of a student or school
and get a shout out during the game. Let's rally
for a future which all kids can get the good
food needed to reach their full potential. Repi Kita Buchino,
love you back here as we get said to start
the second quarter. So the teams have switched signs and
(33:57):
ends of the field. Holland Christie movement right to left
at your radio dial fourteen to seven, but second and
short inside the north through fifteen. Aberger takes his snapper
center out of the pistol formation handoff and right over center.
Isaiah Meyer running hard, still fighting inside the five and
he's close to the goal line. What an effort by
the junior number twenty three. He's been running hard all
(34:17):
night long. He's got the lone Maroon touchdown. It's gonna
be first in goal and now he's a little slow
to get up Gino. Yeah, I kind of rolled that angle.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
We see that a couple of times this year where
the running backs or the receivers just kind of get
rolled up on. I mean they're fighting for extra yardage
and all of a sudden they come up with an injury.
And that's yeah, looking at that left leg actually looks
(34:50):
like his right ankle. Maybe they're working out a little bit.
He rolled over on his back. So first in goal,
they'll mark him down at the two while we have
a chance. Let's catch up our audience here because the
scoring has been fast and furious this when Northfield leaves
at fourteen to seven over Holland Christian early in the
second quarter, and here's fuck gino with our MKD funeral
Holmes scoring recap. Hound Christian opening the scoring twenty one
(35:13):
yard touchdown run by Isaiah Myerd that made the score
seven to nothing, but Northview two quick strikes their first
play from scrimmage, just sixty three yard touchdown run by
Jayalen Gant tied the score at seven to seven, and
then the sixty five yard touchdown passed a couple of
possessions later from Armount Irving to Jake Johnson's sixty five
yards seven to fourteen to seven in favor of Northfield.
(35:36):
End the first quarter, and they're giving a lot of
attention right now to Isaiah. Myerd Dad is still looking
at that. It's that left leg that he's holding up.
I don't didn't see what happened as he got wrestled
to the ground, but clearly in a lot of pain.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
I want to remind you to stay with us. Coming
up as his second quarter being brought to you by
Holst Jepson Physical Therapy for the Hulst Jeps Physical Therapy
halftime show. Tonight's players have worked hard to get their
bodies ready for competition. Hulse Jepson Physical Therapy wants you
to stay in the game no matter what level of
activity you desire. They get patients in within twenty four
to forty eight hours. Holse Jepson Physical Therapy Restoring body,
(36:15):
reviving spirit. Of course, Rick Burkey will rejoin us from
the studios downtown and also we've got our Lake Shore
Game of the Week going on Muskegon at Byron Center.
Really a must win situation for the Big Reds. Only
one loss in the season for Byron Center is now
it appears to be an ankle injury. He's trying to
(36:36):
walk off under his own power, but he's getting help
from the trainer and one of the coaching staff.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Yeah, that left leg isn't touched on the ground too much.
We hope they can figure out something for him and
he's able to get back in the game. But that'd
be a tremendous loss for the Maroons because now that
leaves it all in the hands of no Effeak, the
backup running back, and also changes the tickers and damages
(37:00):
isaam I at their primary kick returner, So a lot of.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Things can change it.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Right now, they got first and goal on the two,
trying to get in and tie this football game.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
So Fike is in there, They'll go out of the
pistol formation, but Fike deep behind in the pistol formation.
Aberger takes his snap hand off Fike right up the middle,
fighting fraction, breaking away from a tackle, spins out of
it into the end zone. What an effort. He was
stopped right there trying to run over center, just broke
the tackle, spinning out to his left and walks into
(37:32):
the end zone for six. Holland Christian now one point
away from tying this thing up.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Well, that's a great job there by Fieg.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
I mean he was caught dead to rights, just kept
moving and Northew lets him elude their grasp. He spins
out of it and goes right into the end zone
to potentially tie this game.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Caden van Heison to tack on the extra point. Good
kicker getting division one, looks at the mac level snap
is a good one and blocked that is all. No
not in the conversion will make That's right, only on
the field will attempt. So Norfew gets the block, no return,
(38:13):
but makes it a one point game in favor of
the Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Left to go getting in there and blocking that extra point.
So big play there by the North Few special teams.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
So nice job there by one of the linebackers for
Norfew and one of the leaders and captain Easton. I'll
tell you in talking to coach Joshnack and getting some
notes fro him for our game broadcast, very oppressed with
(38:48):
handed in it. Got a lot of brothers that are
on this team. As far as you look at the
Johnson brothers, Andre and Key Andre one playing offense, one
playing deep. Had a lot of family times when you
look at the charities, as you mentioned earlier, a lot
(39:08):
of pride. AJ Johnson his dad playing at Ottawa Hills
back in the day. Talent and wide receiver has been
pretty quiet tonight, but they haven't needed it because Jake
Johnson had that big touchdown catches moments ago and also
Gant with a big run sixty three yards first played
from scrimage to take into the house as nice kickoff
(39:28):
by Van. Heis out of the back of the end.
Zelle automatic touchbacks, so it'll be first down and ten
Northview from their own twenty yard line. Chalmers, remember Trevor
Chalmers graduated played basketball here at Northview. The old fisty
basketball coach back of the day, still involved with the program.
(39:50):
You mentioned Dot Goldster here from Kell Loggsville working with
Dion Charity when he was a player outstanding for the
Rockets before he went on to had that great career
at GBSU. So family affair and coach Josh Knock has
him rolling right now. Big crowd on hand, first down
and ted, but just a one point advantage after that
last score by Holland Christian one back of the backfield
(40:13):
that's Gant to the rights of Irving, fakes the handoff
play action sets his feet going on home run ball
over the top got him in out there. What an
interception a dimey grab made that time by one of
the Holland Christians secondary man. That's Griffin Lou, the sophomore quarterback. Wow,
as they were looking deep that time and they had
(40:35):
a man out there with a step in Tyson Logan.
What an effort just laid out for that one, did Lou?
Second time we've called his number and name tonight.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Well, they just try to go with the deep shot
there and the receiver was behind the fence Logan, Tyson
was behind Lou. But it's a pretty tall order to
have Irving throw that far down the field. I mean
you're asking him to throw it fifty yards plus and
just didn't get it there. And big pick up there
for the Maroons is now they get the ball right back.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Third turnover total between the two teams tonight, and we're
not even to the midway point of the second quarter.
Two water receivers each way. Aberger sets fires and incomplete.
He thought Desmond Myer was going to go on an
out route. He curled it in at the forty five,
So stops the clock. Second and ten upcoming. We mentioned
(41:29):
stay with us live reports tonight coming not only from
Miskegon and Byron Center, which you can listen to live
with our own Chase Nutting and Tom Kendrovern one O
seven m us The Moose one O seven point nine FM.
But Unity Christian at Zealand Eest good ballgame. Lucas Cymbel
out there Hudsonville, Caledonia with Dan Hasty Zealand West in
South Christian Boy South Christian is hit hard times out
one at Hudsonville High. Doug Redford out there Catholic Central
(41:51):
East Grand Rapids year old stopping rounds with Mike Lee
and Hamilton at West Catholic. That was a game that
I picked for our four pack, and we'll tell you
about that story line similar to this one of the
Oka Black in the Okay White boll Hopson out there
after this play second down in ten, three wide receivers
right one to the left Aberger are trying to swing
it out and incomplete close to a lateral.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
The head does up play there by Groti is trying
to sell it a little bit. Biden caught it off
the balance after he dropped it.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
See what you can do.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
But right there was the official to make the call.
And now that brings up third and loan, but come
out the quietest five and two team out there, the
Hamilton Hawkeys three and one. Though people forget the okay
White and West Catholic four to oho. So they're going
for the outright Croun after we called him last week
with that unbelievable field goal to win it late. At
forestill's Eastern. But if Hamilton wins tonight of a West
(42:42):
Catholic at West Catholic and FHC wins at Whalan, they'll
have a three way tie, just like we could have
a folling Christian wins tonight. Yep, And boy, just so
many great storylines tonight Bright for week eight yep, it's
the conference championship week for everybody. But the okay red
hand off, no nice play fake and swinging out brux
(43:04):
Ford complete a burger and that's enough for a first down.
Just a little curl out and he knew where the
sticks were needed to get across the forty seven, got
to the forty eight, then stepped out of bounds. And
how about the play fake that time? Fooled me by
Aberger as he faked it to Fike, then rolled out
to his left and being a left handed thrower naturally
(43:27):
going that way easier to throw, and found Bruxford pull
that first down. I tell you what not big in stature,
but I'm impressed with having Aberger and what a program.
Dave Aberger was a quarterbacks coach under the old coach resime.
Just his second year taking over his head coach, he
(43:48):
finished four and five bucks. You know, knocked off Union Christian,
a big rival at the end of the year, but
didn't get in last year. First down and ten feet
running hard to the near side, trying to turn the corner.
Roux Sport was trying to seal the edge for him,
but nothing doing that time against this Northview defense, They'll
stack him up at the midfield straight for just a
gain of one second and nine is the clock rules
(44:09):
now under eleven minutes left to go here. First half.
But you mentioned you talked to coach Aberger at the
Hope seven on seven in July. One of the things
you told me to Buck is not only were you
excited about what they could do with the passing game
and impressed with their wide receivers, but you said the
way the schedule with the realignment sets up for them,
(44:31):
and they're non conference they can build as a team,
and you saw that. And then of course the big
victory over East Grand Rapids.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you I didn't see that on coming,
but a huge win for Dave Aberger's crew, and that's
really propelled them into the second half of the season.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
Aberger rolling to his left, sets fires and a chip
ball again with his small size and statue only about
five eighty five nine that finds his man groating ice
on the near side into wildcat territory for a first time.
To move the chains inside the forty, they'll give him
the thirty nine, a couple of eleven little pitching catch
(45:07):
that time first down and ten And like I mentioned,
Aberger his first I n T of this season coming
earlier in the first quarter, but thirty of thirty eight
passing last week for three hundred yards, four touchdowns of
the year. And then you saw what he can do
earlier rushing the football. If he needs to get it
outside the pocket, he's got good speed. He had two
(45:28):
more rushing touchdowns for six total touchdowns last week, and
that come from behind victory over Middleville thrown up with
Kelong eked it out by one made a two point
conversion late to win it. First down to ten rolls
his right lookout had to talk it and he is
going to be hit and drop for a loss. It's
handing it again, yeah, back of the forty four yard line.
Easton having a night well, look like he wanted to
(45:53):
try to maybe throw the ball RPO out there, but
Handen just blows through feet.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
Who's to hold him out there?
Speaker 3 (46:01):
And it's a tough task for the backup running back
and handing, and just man handles them, gets to the
quarterback and brings them down.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
We'll go to our rapid radio's scoreboard in just a
minute after this play. So loss of five. Back to
the forty four second and fifteen clock continues to wind
on a running play. There nine tickie three wide receivers,
all tall in stature to the left, one to the right,
as Desmond myired want to throw back to a nice
job right across the middlefield. Now he sets him up
(46:31):
as blockers as he was by himself to the right,
coming across to the left side of the field, and
he's down inside the thirty five close to another maroon.
First down at the thirty well. His brother Isaiah is
still on the sideline. But Desmond myired now contributing good.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
Just a little crossing route there, gets the defence going
the other way, a little pump fake and then meered
coming across. Good leverage on the defense and like you said,
uses those other receivers downfield, they become blocker. Nice pick
up of fourteen there and the Maroons offense seems that
picked up some rhythm.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Yeah, so much for the loss of five on the
play before that on a run to the right that
looking for like you said, an RPO option wasn't there.
So third and short hand off fake feke left side.
I don't know if he got it or not. We'll
see more progress across the thirty, and I think they're
gonna give it to him. Partner.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Yeah, I mean he needed one and he got one
point zero zero one because as soon as he crossed
the thirty he got swallowed up, but just enough to
get the first down to keep the chains moving and
the drive a.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
Line seven to seven Muskegan and Byron Center early in
the second quarter at Wadale Field. Also, how about Undy
Christian all Over Zealand East twenty nine to nothing with
a minute nine left in the first quarter, just in case.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
People thought they may have let down break. Timdy's like, look,
we're not gonna let him think that. We're just gonna
do our thing. And boy, that's impressive against Ilans is
not a bad team.
Speaker 7 (48:02):
Now.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
They've had a couple of nice wins this season.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
I remember they'll play Hamilton in a non conference game.
There'll be a big game for both teams as far
as playoffs coming up next week. Fake defeat and they
go the slant route to Groton Heiss. He goes down
and gets it before. It's a turf a low throw
that time, but maybe had to because the defender was
all over by Aberger and he's inside the twenty five.
They'll give him the twenty three.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
I mean not I mean Brett, this is not a dock.
Speaker 3 (48:30):
But every catch by Christian, Yeah, it's just off the
ground or up in the air, or I mean just
making fantastic catches. Because I'll tell you Ivan Aberger he
just seems a little off with the accuracy and the timing,
but his receivers are making him look very good tonight,
because man, they're just coming up with some tough athletic
catches in traffic there and picks up six and if
(48:54):
they weren't doing that, it could be a long night.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
For the Maroon.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Coach Aberger raved about his wide receivement core and said,
you know what they are fundamentally they do all the
little things and you're seeing that tonight to help their quarterback.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
One of the fundamentals is catching the football and they
do it really, really well. And coach Haberger is going
to call a time out. Didn't like the play that
he had. Second and four.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
We'll keep it right here, Holland Christian driving again trying
to take the lead. If they could score fourteen thirteen,
Northfield leads it, but in Northfield territory, where the stoppage
and play will remind you. Our scoreboard updates tonight being
brought to you by Rapid Radios. All season long, our
game reporters are being assisted by the instantaneous communication provided
by Rapid Radios. Rapid Radios provided push to talk nationwide
(49:33):
walkie talkie system with no monthly fees, then limited range.
Great for families, kids and businesses. Unfortunately with all the
things that we've had with the hurricanes and everything. Great
way for the families to try to stay connected and
know if everyone's all right, go to rapid radios dot
com to learn more. That's rapid radios dot com. Well,
(49:55):
we mentioned Ryan Aschnack, the Detroit Lyons high school football
coach the Week four Week seven named this week he'll
get a thousand dollars donation to his program for the
Detroit Lions, and he'll be up for Coach of the Year.
Gets to go down to Detroit Lions game with our
panel of the rest of the coach's honored during the
nine week regular season. Second down and Shorts. Aberger rolling
(50:18):
to his left left out of the pocket, got a
man out there at oh couldn't come down with it
a little bit too tall. He was wide open and
worried about trying to keep his feet in. Bounced because
it was kind of drifting on Groton. Heist couldn't haul
it in, but again it would have been another circus cash.
The ball was released a little bit high that time
by Aberger.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
Again, Aberger on the move first to the right and
then to his left, and as a left handed quarterback,
more advantageous to be going out there, but again just
does it really set his feet kind of throws it
on the run there and it sails on him. Groton
heisst tried to stretch out that six foot two frame and.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
Just couldn't do it.
Speaker 2 (50:56):
Third and four coming up for Holland Christian fourteen thirteen
hour school or good one here in week eight and
Wildcats take him Northfield leads it, but the Maroons impressively
driving again Griffin lou In. There's a wide receiver by
himself for this third short wide right, two backs in
the backfield Fek they play it, fake it to him.
Now Aberger, rolling to his right, has to refers field
(51:18):
under pressure, breaks a tack inside the fifteen got the
first down down inside the dead avin Aberger all the
way to the seven yard line of the Wildcats, fresh
shut of downs, first in goal coming up. Boy, he
used do a great job there by Aberger.
Speaker 3 (51:34):
I think he's had more opportunities to run than he's
given himself. Right and that time he turns it upfield
third and short pocket breaks down.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
He doesn't have anybody available down field.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
Didn't want to try to throw a risk. You want
to cross the middle once he got burned by earlier
in the game.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
So the time he pulls it down in a great
run there by Aberger to get it first and goal,
and that's a rushing play as far as your rushing
yardage and Holly Christians and a better job of that
tonight's I know they wanted to coming in, don't want
to be one dimensional, and certainly they've got this Wildcats
defense right now on their heels. Bugino first in goal,
(52:10):
Holland Christian from the north few seven slot right, one
receiver left, one back in the back of that's fake.
Fake makes a man miss inside the seven and then
doubt about the five before he's grabbed and shoved back
and I mean literally picked up off the turf. There's
Noah Feake remember in there, as Buck mentioned for the injured.
If you're just tuned in, Isaiah Meyer who went out
(52:32):
with it looks like an ankle injury. He's still over
there as the training team working on him on the table.
We'll see if he has a chance to maybe get
taped up and come back in the second half or not.
But fek in there running hard, and that time they
give him two to the five yard line. Third and
goal coming up for Holland Christian flock winds five twenty
(52:53):
and ticking left to go here on this beautiful night.
Look at the moon across the way, full moon for foot.
We had seventy degree weather at kickoff. Here in a week,
eight trips right, one receiver left looking that way, single coverage,
stroves it up. Did he come down with it? He
did not? Not to win the last moment they were
looking for Bruxmort in the left corner of the end
(53:15):
zone incomplete good job defensively by the secondary man for
the Wildcats. Yeah, that was the other cornerback. I think
that was Guesner on the coverage. He said a couple
of nice now.
Speaker 3 (53:25):
Yeah, and that time, that's the first time I remember
them targeting Bruxford into the back shoulder and a great
job by Guesner. Bruxford got his hands on it but
just couldn't survive the ground and Guestner is able to
rip it out.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
That brings up third and goal. Now they have so
many weapons. You've talked about his wide receivers, but broux
sport known for that big two point point conversion catch
to beat Middleville last week. Why I tell you what,
you'd love to be a wide receiver this offense. When
you I mean you're gonna get You're gonna get to
see the ball, no doubt about that third and goal
(53:59):
from the throwing to his right, throwing out there, complete
diving for the pyelon touchdown. Gabe Confara, the tight end
makes the grab. What a beautiful throw. We had a
good look at it from behind by senior quarterback Evan Aberger.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
Well Confara there just breaks into the flat. He's dragging
a linebacker across and that linebacker's got a tough assimon
trying to get all the way across there before Aberger
can deliver the ball and canfire gets ahead of him
and it's a great throw there by Aberg, one of
his best, and that creates.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
A touchdown extra point upcoming by Van Heiss. Snap is
he go hold his down, kick his up plenty of
leg this time and it is good bye Van Heiss,
so Holland Christian regained the lead back with four fifty
eight left to go here in the first half on
the road, as the Maroons laid at twenty to fourteen
(54:59):
over North. We'll step aside with the time out of

Speaker 2 (55:56):
Ali Christians put twenty points up on the board. Here
are the first halfic It's this Northview defense that held
Grand Efpens Catholic Central to three at Cougar Stadium down
the road just last week. Is the kickoff by Van
Heiss into the end zone automatic touchback in high school football.
Don't forget we got plenty of College Football Company away
with our own Rick Burkey. Big game homecoming for Davenport
(56:19):
University as they welcome in Wayne State. Huge Wayne last
week twenty four to twenty from Sparks mccunion his club
up in Michigan Tech. Always a tough place to drive
all the way up there and win what they did
to have proved a four and two, and so Wayne
State coming in for the homecoming. It's a later start,
two o'clock kickoff, one forty five pre game coverage right
here in your home for DEU football ninety six to
one the game, norfe you back at it now. It's
(56:40):
been a while since his offense has been out there.
Handoff gan left side, and I thought he might have
lost the football again as he got corralled high and
thrown down. He's not very big in stature, but dropped
right near the line of scrimmage. A good job of
the Holland Christian defense. I tell you they've done a
better job on this running game for Northfield. After that
opening play where we saw can't come near side and
(57:03):
he was off to the races up the sideline sixty
three yards for the score. Well you said it, I
mean not a very big when I talk about biking,
talking about hythe wise for Ganton, but he's very solid,
very stocky, and halland Christian's got his hands.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
Full, but done a nice job with him.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
Ale. They go, I formation here, play action, Irving rolling
to his right, throwing out of the run. Nice pitching
cats got his man across the thirty five to the
thirty seven yard line. The catch that time Tyson Logan,
the junior wide receiver. I tell you what, They've got
a good compliment of junior talent that'll be back next
year to mix in with their seniors. For coach Josh,
(57:37):
this is what I like about the later part of
the air breath. I mean the full playbock is installed.
They got all of them in there, especially Irving being
a three year guy, and they go, I form, play
action boot and that's a nice throw there to Tyson.
And he likes to throw on the run, rolling out
of the pocket because he's a threat with his feet
as well. Can't left side trying to knife his way
(57:58):
through and does It's a little crease across the forty
and that's only needs to the forty one yard line.
Good pick up a four their second and six pocket.
You just to wind under four minutes left to go
first half twenty fourteen, Homing Christian over Norfew here the second.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
Quarter, we Northview is gonna try to get a two
for here. They've got three fifty to go in the
second quarter. They get the ball to start the second half.
So if they can get a score of taking about
as much time as the off the clock as possible,
it's the best scenario for Ryan Ashdock's crew.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
Out of the pistol formation. Every wants to throw again
quick out route incomplete off the hands with the intended
receiver Tyson Logan at the forty six, So third and
six upcoming. How about if Byron Center's Windale Field just
got the latest update rapid radio scoreboard update Byron Center
ten to seven over the Skeigon at the break. Don't
forget you could go back and forth to listen to
(58:48):
that one live with their other crew on one oh
seven wus the Moose.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
And we knew that was gonna be a tight game.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
Shane Fairfield's team, and they must win situation because they've
got Cincinnati Moller next week, which is going to be
a tough half for anybody, especially a big Reds team
that has been struggling a little bit this year. So
they've got to win against Byron Sara if they wanted
any chance to have the playoffs. And now coach Oshnack
is motioning Grving over as they call a time out.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
Clearly there was some difference of opinion on what play
was supposed to be run.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
Did you notice that we were told by coach Osnack
because it was intrigued, they were going to limit his
play and we thought it'd be mainly on defense, which
we have seen in there. But SENIORA has come in
now and he's in the backfield as a running back,
which he's started running back normally for Norfew on a
key series here. I think coach Oshnack feels that wasn't
happy with his set there with third and about six
(59:41):
to go at their own forty one, a call the
time out.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Well, the injury isn't preventing Senior from blocking, and that's
what he's been able to do. Right, He's been asked
to block and not run the football so far, and
he's been the lead back for Gant. But third and six,
this is a critical play here. You don't want to
have a busted communication and the wrong thing, so they
called the time out. Get it straightened out. Now, third
and six for Irving, and this is a key play
(01:00:06):
because they really would not like to give the ball
back to Holland Christian who's got some pretty offensive got
some pretty good mojo offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Changing the look. Two backs to the backfield. Now with Irving,
who's out of the pistol formation, one runs to each way,
they're gonna run the football to the left side and
not get there. A little bit conservative that time by
coach Joshnack is they'll stop him shy of the forty five.
It's fourth and a long three bucks, you know, maybe
four coming up here for the Wildcats. Yeah, he needed
(01:00:35):
to get to the forty seventies, barely to the forty four,
so they only gave him three. That looks like they're
keeping the offense on the field. Wow, seniora couldn't pick
up the first down there, and now they'll have the
extra back move to the left side of Irving.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Kind of surprise they ran Senior there. Maybe they thought
they could catch from Ma Runes off guard.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Fourth and a long three. They'll try to run it
again Senior over the left side, got a big.
Speaker 9 (01:00:58):
Crease up the sideline trying to back of the thirty
five does breaks the tacklies inside the thirty and down
to the hollywy Christian twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Number six wasn't gonna be denied that time, first and
ten in a row in here couple wild casts that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
One they did catch the runs off guard because there
was just nobody out there.
Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
Senora getting it two times in a row.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Now he comes off but caught the defense by surprise,
gets out to the left and and gets off across
the edge, and good blocking out there. They seal they
kick down on the linebacker and there's just no fill
in from the defensive backs and senior with a big game.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
How about coach Osnach set the tone there fourth and three,
gonna run the football low snapper, we no almost lost it.
Good job just to hop on it on the turf
and take the loss back to the thirties to low
snap that time, loss of six. It's gonna be second
and sixteen upcoming.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
I've always seen that one from each side, and usually
when that happens, it's in big games and big situations.
Speaker 4 (01:01:59):
We've seen both centers do that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Now you mentioned North if you're trying to go for
a two for here, how big is it? Twenty to
fourteen driving trying to maybe regain the lead here before halftime,
slot right wide receiver, left man in motion from right
to left, irving out of the pistol formation, takes snaps
that Spiers got his man coming back to the middle
(01:02:22):
of the field inside the twenty and down to the
nineteen yard line. The catch that time was Jack Van Crouen,
good basketball player for the Wildcats, Spartsity basketball team. They'll
give them four third and six. They'll mark him just
downside the Holland friston twenty buck.
Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
They just pick up there.
Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
They needed to make up the difference after that bad snap,
and they got more than half the yardage.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
From the left hash Irvi It takes his snap again,
fires got his man for a first down, then steps
out of bounds to stop the clock. That was Jake
Johnson who has that touchdown catch earlier sixty five yards
from big plays for the Wildcats in that first quarter
and change, and now trying to dial up one more
(01:03:11):
and maybe regain the lead. Twenty to fourteen Dollan Christian
but on the move in the red zone all the Wildcats.
There's a man in motion from right to left. Again,
they worked the short side of field, hit offf Gant
spins out of attack inside the five, fighting towards a
goal line down about the one yard line. He's exciting
and he can make you miss. That's Jalen Gant, the
(01:03:32):
junior running back. Another one of those down to juniors.
And now hurry up for Norfew as they run some
players on first and goal from the one, and they've
they've spend a couple of time outs, so they don't
I think they have one left here.
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
It's not showing on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
The board, but I'm pretty sure they've taken two, so
they've only got the one left. So they want to
get up a little bit to the line here in
a hurry because they only have the one time out
to burn in only fifty seconds. I formation, you're under
center of srvy firsty goal for the one handoff sire
a touchdown. Norfew, great lead block and he was untouched
(01:04:08):
strolling under the end zone and we're tied at twenty
is back and forth we go extra point up coming.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Well, senior, they were gonna try to limit him, but
you know, coach Ashnak went to him and said we
need you.
Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
Can you go?
Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
And you know that Will wasn't gonna turn him down
and pretty impressive drive there. They bring him in for
the first time on offense and two key runs including
the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Irving the holder Oscar Sanchez, one of the heroes from
last week, with a couple of nice field goals against
Catholic Central. As the snap to Irving gets it down,
kick is up and it's good, so Northview takes the
lead back by one forty three seconds left to go
on the first half. What a ballgame here at Wildcat Stadium.
Our score Northview twenty one. Holly Christen twenty back with

Every hit, every play, This is Cape Knights on ninety
six to one the game.
Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Hey, we like it here at north View. Pat marsmen
in the staff, Mark Thomas, the principal. They're bringing us
food before even halftime. Buckg don't go with the wildcat burgers.
And I can't not do one of those absolutely low
bouncing kick and still loose inside the tent. Hala Christian's
gonna have to hop on it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
While we talked about Buyered being out, he's their primary
kick return and so now in for Holland Christian number
twenty four, Quintin matheene yep, certainly his first kick return tonight,
and some miscommunication between he, I think is feek back
there and you just gotta lay on it. And you know,
(01:06:16):
with thirty nine seconds ago, wasn't it was gonna be
kind of a tall task anyway, because they've also they've
got two timeouts, so it's should have been kind of
tough for them to get in position, and now it's
just gonna be probably a kneel down and get the
half time.
Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
I agree. I mean, if you're Holland Christian, you gotta
be happy with the way this half has played out. Anyways,
I know you're down one, but twenty points up on
the board. I mean, this is a Northview team that
held catholic Es Central. We know how explosive they could be,
even though it's a young Cougar squad. I mean to
hold a Todd Colster squad to three points, I'm sure
Todd swapped beautifully this week after that, and that was
(01:06:48):
at Couger Stadium. First off table, Aberg are gonna throw
across the middle and he's got a big play blockers
in front across the twenty now coming near sideline, out
across the twenty five, out bout that Bruxford. It's got
a first down in more and throwing out of his
own end zone with about thirty five seconds left in
(01:07:09):
the half. That time was Evan Aberger, Well, I think
north you also expected them just to right to cash
in the chips and get to the locker room.
Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
But Dave Aberger said, no, we are going to go
in and.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
They went in on.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
An eight and a jack and they got the flop because, boy,
that's a great play there to Bruxford picking up thirty
one yards and now with Van Heyst, I know he
doesn't have a lot of range, but they're trying to
get him in position potentially to get a field goal.
They've got some timeouts to burn and they've still got
some time.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
That's a dangerous play too. He's a little cruel wide
receiver screen in the middle of the field out to
the thirty eight first to Ted Aberger showing he's gonna
throw again, steps up in the pocket, he completing. Boy,
he's lucky he didn't get that one almost picked off well.
And then the secondary while he was.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Larry lucky, he also missed Simon Grotenheist, who was not
in the same area code as any of the Northview defenders.
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
And they only rushed three there, so Evan had some.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Time, but he kind of rushed through the progressions a
little bit, didn't give himself enough time. And again with
the clock ticking down towards zero, you don't want to
waste too much time back there.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
But boy, dangerous throw across the middle. Luckily, like you said,
Brad for him. He just goes to the turf. Brady
Becker was in the area and it was a little
bit low. He couldn't quite haul it in, but it
was close. Second down in ten. Remember his first iron
t of the season, throwing earlier this half by Aberger
trips right, one receiver left. Watch the throw again, looking
(01:08:37):
looking now flushed on the pocket toroid as he rolls
to his left. That one chipped in incomplete on the
near sideline trying to haul it was Bruxford.
Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
Yeah, on the tip there, good defense.
Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Ben Duffy, the line back on the weak side there
just jumps up in the passing Wayne and that's what
you gotta do. I mean, he's out there kind of
garden air in his own and there's a nice job
of making athletics play tipping that ball because there was
a receiver I didn't see who it was open on
the near side here, but Duffy makes the play and
(01:09:10):
now it's gonna be third in law.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Yeah, he was looking for number five, Josh Bruxford.
Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
I've gone to Bruxford down the stretch here in the
first half after it was Groton Ice show. They've gone
to Bruxford now a couple of times finding a matchup
that they like.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
Stay with us, hold Jefson physical therapy, halftime show with
Rick Burkey, all of our game reporters with live reports
coming up, and now a time out gonna be taking
by Holland Christian was seventeen seconds left. Again, We'll keep
it right here, but scores and more, stay with us,
and we got some dues. He's ten to seven center
over Ski in our Lake Shore Game of the week.
(01:09:47):
At the half, how about you, Tody, Christian, they're gonna
have a running clock to start the second half, forty
two to nothing over Zealand East. I tell you what
I know. They don't like comparisons, and I don't think
they're quite to the level we saw with that great
team for Unity. Christian, But haven't you been impressed with
this team? I mean they're not just beating people, they're
dominating people. And what I would consider one of the
(01:10:10):
toughest divisions in the Okay Conference with realignment the OKA Gold. Yeah,
I mean we knew that coach Craig Tibby would have
them be better than last year. I mean they were
three and six. They struggled with injuries, and they played
a really tough schedule. But you look at that team
and you think, man, you know, how good are they
really going to be? Well? I mean we saw them
(01:10:32):
in week one and they played a decent Whitehall team
that made some mistakes, you know, some self inflicted errors,
but boy, Unity was impressive in that game. And they've
just gotten better every single week. And coach Craig Tibby
has done a act of a job over there as
he normally does. And Unity Christian is rolling apergra after
the time out, takes a snap going to this right
(01:10:53):
under pressure, and he's gonna go down sack back inside
the northview with thirty at the twenty nine your line,
and Easton Hannanan is having quite a first half. They
rotated him in. He was the extra blocking back when
they went I formation and just came up with a
big sack there on third down.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
Now Northew spends its last time out, yeah, thinking they
might be able to get the ball back with a
little bit of time if Hound Christian can't convert.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Or at least maybe to make them kick the football right. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
I mean, at this point, you're either a.
Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
Trying to punt the ball and just run out the
clock or B if you're gonna go for Gopher broke,
you just try to make sure that Eberger buys enough
time out there and runs the clock out.
Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
Looks like they're gonna go with the punting route. They
got Tyson Logan back deep. They've got some speed and
guys that can make you miss. For Northview, caan't we
know is that way. I haven't talked a lot about A. J. Johnson,
but he's certainly a playmaker number two in that wide
receiving core as well. For North Few. Here's a snap
pressure on kick is blocked and no one knows where
(01:12:05):
it is. It hits the twelve yard line, Matt scramble
for it. Now picked up, trying to reverse this field
to get to the end zone down inside the five,
but time's gonna run out. Oh man, that's why coach
Oshchnack want to get the special teams out there. And
he's kind of yelling at this guy's block for him.
They had it down in the ten yard line. He
(01:12:26):
gets tackled at the four bucks. You know, just a
fitting way to end what has been a back and
fourth game here in the first half.
Speaker 4 (01:12:33):
That could have been potentially crippling to the Maroons.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
Give up a touchdown there and a block punt, and
then Norfew was gonna get the ball to start the
second half. Tough break because that ball went way up
in the air and they just couldn't get under it.
Because if they catch it on the fly, I mean
you're you're waltzing into.
Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
The end zone. There's nobody there. Instead, it bounces around.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
They didn't know where it was their right they just
if they would have been able to catch it and
right spot in the air, it's like a catch. Where
is it?
Speaker 4 (01:13:01):
I can't find it and it's too late. It hits
the ground.
Speaker 3 (01:13:03):
But boy almost Grayson Corlin, but not closed enough. And boy,
if it didn't happen during the first half, I don't
know what didn't because everything happened in the first half,
an extremely entertaining half of football.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
Fourteen to seven, nor Few. If you're scoring at home
over Holland Christian after one and now as we head
to the locker rooms, respectively, Northview twenty one, Holland Christian
twenty stay with us after the break. We'll send you
back to the ground Rapid Studios in downtown gr for
our host steps of Physical Therapy halftime show with our
(01:13:40):
own Rick Burkey. Twenty one twenty Northfield a crazy game
over Holland Christian. As you're listening to this weekend edition
of the NMCU High School Football Game of the Week
live here on ninety six to one, the game.
Speaker 13 (01:13:51):
Heck of a game right now, Northview and Holland Christian
battling in the ok Black A one point edge to
the home team Northview two one twenty. It's anyone's game
as we go to the second half, So let's send
it out to our guys, Brodbikita but gino right now
for the second half call, guys, take us home, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Rick Burkey. Both teams have made their way back out
out of the artificial surface here at Wildcat Stadium. As
we've got another thriller setting up. Getting ready for the
second half, Northview leads it by one, twenty one twenty
over Holland Christian. Remember, if the Maroons win here tonight,
then it depends on what happens with these Grand Rapbitts
and Catholic Central, who would have at least a split
(01:14:30):
of the Okay Black Division. Cropic to be North frond
On Christian, But it could be a three way, but
Catholic Central's got some work to do with that game
with East Grand Rapids the Hearts of Gold game. But
if Northview obviously can stay on top and win this one,
they would be your okay, black outright division James, Well,
then the way it's going.
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
Of course, there's another half football that you play it
in a lot of the games, but Catholic Central clearly
a big hill to climb with East Grend Rabbids coming
out here on fire for their last home game of
the regular season, and also the Hearts of Gold game
at Senior Night, and that's what makes some of these
games late in the season special. Tonight we have the
Blackout night for Northview because it's their final home game
(01:15:10):
of the regular season and blackout to raise awareness and
money for pediatric cancer. It's the last home game of
the regular season, it's for a conference championship. Same thing
for East Grand Rapids, even though they're not going to
be in the conference championship equation.
Speaker 4 (01:15:25):
They're looking to play spoilers.
Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
So that's what makes late season regular season football so
special is games like this and Northview and Holland Christian Boy.
Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
When you talked about it if you said we were
going to be doing this game in week eight.
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
If you had told me that in June, I would
have seriously considered, you know, trying to get you smell.
But boy, these two teams have not disappointed. A great
display both teams, good offense, good defense, just the whole package.
And both teams have come here to play tonight knowing
that they can get a share or an outright.
Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
Championship of the OKA.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
So it was back in fourth Holland Christians scored first.
It was fourteen to seven. No North were after the
first twelve minutes, then twenty one twenty north Through now
leaded it at the break, and let's recap that first
half scoring summary with our own buck Geno's brought to
you by MKD Funeral Homes Every story, every moment, every day,
with now eight locations to serve you. Find out one
near you at MKD Funeral Home dot com.
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Well Isaiah Iired opening the scoring for the Maroon twenty
one yard touchdown runs seven to nothing. Then north Through
the next two scores, first their first play from scrimmage,
just sixty three yard touchdown run by Jalen Gant, and
then later a sixty five yard touchdown passed Joe Armon
Irving to Jake Johnson that made the score fourteen to
seven after one quarter of play. Holland Christian two straight
scores to answer. First No A feat two yard touchdown
(01:16:44):
run and then a five yard touchdown pass to Camp.
A fifteen play drive for the Maroon and Zamberger to
Conferra and that was twenty to fourteen. They did have
a pat blocked in there, and then Seniora ending the
first half scoring a one yard touchdown run his first
offensive series of the half capitalizes and makes the score
twenty one to twenty at halftime.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
North View up by appointment or if he won the
toss to further the second half. So they'll start with
the footballs. Van Heist drives one at the two yard line,
receiver caught on a fly but stepped back in the
end zone. They say play on comes near side and
this is why the Wildcats wanted to play on. Now.
A penalty flag comes in late, probably a block in
the back to free him up the near sideline as
he crossed the thirty five and an ice return out
(01:17:28):
to the forty two yard line. But I think this
one is gonna come back on the return that time
was Tyson.
Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
Logan for North viet Yeah, came in late, but I
didn't catch the number, but it was a pretty clear
or they're gonna call it a hold, but mu until
you got got him as he was running by.
Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
But either way it's gonna be a penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
So you probably could have just taken the touch back
and saved himself some wind because it's gonna go all.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
The way back to the twenty anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
I was surprised they didn't whistle that one dead that
he put his well foot back.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
I know the ball because the moments right when he
caught it did not drive him into the end zone.
He went in there himself. So you can't get saved
by the going in that situation. The rule is the
momentum has to carry you. He clearly backed in there,
thought about taking a knee, and then ran it out.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
Urban leads the offense out hand off. Can't they run
the same play that they scored out of the very
first play from scrimmage wide near side, and this time
Holland Christian defensively with a better stop Cayden three by
Gant out to the twenty three second and seven upcoming.
So reset those offensive starters for you for Northview, It's
brought to you by Sporting You. And again the Northview
(01:18:32):
Wildcats coming in a perfect seven and l Ryan Oschnach
so happy with his squad this year. A. J. Johnson, though,
has been quiet. I think just one catch in that
first half. Number two, one of their talent to wide receivers,
Jake Johnson has a touchdown catch. Logan Tyson has been
active this time the fake to Gant, They're gonna run
the reverse and that's Logan Tyson and Holland christ are
gonna drop him for a loss back in the twenty
(01:18:53):
two yard line. They were all over that. And so
now third and long coming up for the Wildcats. Jack
Broyan number eight is your tight end along with AJ
and Jake Johnson and wide receivers. Then Braydon Taylor the
right tackle. Tyler do Be the right guard. Lincoln Chalmers
is your center. Carson Gain number fifty five your big
left guard. Than Andre Johnson, one of the captains of
(01:19:15):
the Johnson Brothers, is the starting left tackle.
Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
Well, they take Gant out of the football game now,
though I won't empty the backfield. It looks like it's
Van Pryen back there, Johnson one of the two and
now third down and a long one.
Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Back of the backfield play action, Irving sets his feet,
fires and intercept it, going up tall to get it
and coming down with it. Is that Confara at the
thirty eight yard line. Now it's Grant, William Grant, the
talented junior middle linebacker who has played a whale of
(01:19:52):
a game defensively. And I tell you what Coach Aberger
couldn't talk off about Grant. He thinks he's gonna be
a for sure All Conference selection with plays like that.
You can see why as he sets up Holland Christian
to start the second after first offensive possession with a
short field first in ten from the north th you
(01:20:13):
thirty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Well, he drops back into the zone and gets a
good sink and Irving just doesn't see him there tries
to go over the top in a terrific athletic play
by Grant to pull that down.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Evan Aberhoff, now excuse me. Evan Aberger leads the offense
out hand off over the left side. That's Feeke in
there again for the injured Isaiah Mired and over the
left side takes it down to the thirty seven yard line.
They'll give him to second and eight just underway third quarter,
twenty one North Holland Christian And after Myred went out
(01:20:48):
with that ankle injury or apparent ankle injury, Fik has
done a pretty good job in spelling him. But it's
gonna be kind of tough sweating.
Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
Because they know that they're gonna have to throw the
football to have some success, and that's what they were
able to do in the first half. They're still gonna
have to do it. But I do like that they've
established at least the willingness to run. And Jason and
Tom talked about that when they went and saw them
at Catholic Central. Really couldn't get the ground game going
at all, and that was a pretty big.
Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
Barrier for them.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
In that game. Aberger looky left, had three receivers right
to the short side of the field. I'm gonna tuck
it and run up the sideline. He's crafted. He's kind
of first out stated bounds inside the thirty bucks Geno
and down and out at the twenty six nice game
of eleven first and ten Holland Christian. I tell you
what a senior he's only about five eighty five nine,
(01:21:43):
but he's got speed, he's got an arm, a lefty
have an Aberger has been impressive here tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
Well, he spins out to the left side and just
doesn't see anybody downfield, but always keeps the threat of
the pass right up to the wining scrimmage Brett. That's
very important because you make the defender make that decision
because if you come up for a hit, you got
to know that he can still throw the football, turns
the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
And makes a nice play, feaks that to his right,
wants to throw it over complete to Groton. Heist that
little screen. They like it northview all over, gonna drop
for a loss back of the thirty just wasn't there.
And guess who seen Europe coming up to lay a
lick on him for a big tackle for loss. They're
gonna spot him back of the thirty one yard line.
He lost five that time.
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Yeah, I think coach Aberger is telling his son that's
not there.
Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
There's somebody's standing right next to him.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
Maybe just try to get rid of it, because that
was just blown up from the from the get go scene.
You're right on top of the receiver just no chance
for him to get upfield and really risky play behind
you're on the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Throat nice over there along with Konfar on the trip's left.
There comes pressure as to tucking and go right and
gets back maybe to the line of scrimmage, and that's it.
Charity over there to knock him out for he's gonna
lose some yardage back into thirty three. They went trips
to the white side of the field left, but then
the pressure came there, so we had to try to
(01:23:08):
tucket and go right. Andy just nowhere to go for
holand Christian. Great job by this nor Few defense after
the churn over trying to stand tall here and get
a stop.
Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
Well, they've run that delayed fire blitz through the A
gap a couple of times, and it's really done a
good job of confusing the offensive line of the Maroons
because nobody has laid a hand on the blitzing linebacker
a couple of times.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
And that time Amberger just had to bail out and
get what he could.
Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
They're gonna mark him a yard back, so he loses
one there and now it's gonna be third and long again.
Speaker 4 (01:23:42):
Two plays to make sixteen yards.
Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
You don't have to get it all right here, two
wide receivers each way. They worked from just inside the
right hash third and sixteen from the Wildcat thirty two
look out under pressure and he's gonna go down, try
to get back the line of scrimmage, but officially that's
gonna be a sack. And then there defensively four north
View was Carson Gan, the junior defensive lineman.
Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
You haven't talked about Carson a lot today just because
he's doing the dirty work down there and really battling
hard on a three man front. But that time the
pocket breaks down and again doesn't give up on the pursuit,
catches the aberger as he tries to step up.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
I mean, they're only rushing three up front. Brandon.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
Sometimes we'll bring that flitzing linebacker, but they haven't really
brought the house a lot of times. They're still getting
good pressure up front. So credit due to the Wildcats
defensive front as they now bring big old KeAndre Johnson
out and they'll sub in.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Number twenty four. That's uh Ethan Woma Savitch loss of
one on the sack. Fourth and seventeen Holland Chris are
gonna stay out there offensively and now Aberger, Dave Aberger,
the coach could have taken time out, so the time
out of the field will step uside as well. Seven
thirty three left to go to thirty or Wildcats s Tadium.
(01:24:58):
It's Northview twenty one, Holland Christian twenty back with more
after this ninety six one nicking?
Speaker 11 (01:25:03):
Are you ready to refresh your fall wardrobe without breaking

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
Repage it fuck genail back here at door for you
high School. This third quarter being brought to you by
Kids Food Basket, our official non profit for the LMCU
High School football Game of the week Touchdowns for Kids campaign.
It's third year nourishing local kids to reach their full potential.
Already six touchdowns on the board, this one it's fty
dollars a touchdown. I could do the math there, three
hundred dollars to our total. Thank you LMCU. Man in
(01:26:05):
motion fourth down, gotta make it and throw it over
the top, got a man out there and almost intercepted
on the deflection, almost caught over there. Groton, he's the
intenter receiver inside the north View five. It was just
a fifty to fifty.
Speaker 11 (01:26:20):
Ball and.
Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
Aberger was kind of thrown up to his favorite target,
number three Groton ice and let him make a play.
But a better defensive play and again almost any in
t for the Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (01:26:33):
Colin Guester, who's had a pretty good game in defensive
backfield back there with Groten heist and this ran tip
drill trying to get something going and hit Guesner than
Groton heis and Guessner again and finally gets to the turf.
So it try it doesn't working down Northview will come
to the line.
Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
Five down linemen for Holland Christian first and ten Gantt
and they stack him up after a short game. They've
done a pretty good job after that very first play
from scrimmage that went to the house sixty three yards
by number one. Day of a couple theres second and eight,
and it's funny on the defenses are settling in here
in this third quarter as we roll under seven minutes
left to go in the third Northfield twenty one. I'min
(01:27:11):
Christian twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
We thought we were gonna have a little bit of
a shootout after that first quarter. But like you said, Brett,
the defenses have settled in, but the offense is still
had some things up their sleeve.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Second down and eight handoff left side, running hard, dragging
whitby tacklers out across the forty five and he's got
a first down. Guess what will Senora starting to feel
his oats now so much for an injury. He's running
hard for Northfield right now. You're right. I think coach
Asnach talking to him saying, we need you, big fella,
(01:27:45):
and he's come through, had that touchdown run to give
Northfield a lead before the half. Yeah, I think the
injury is not can he play, it's how much can
he play? How much can he tolerate? And so far,
he's towering it pretty well. Gain of thirteen there and
chunk out to the forty eight of the Wildcats. Now
across the midfield scripe. They go with the power running
(01:28:06):
game again, sint euro and he's a big fella, goes
six to three about two bills and he counted his
way down to the forty eight of Christian and he failed.
Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
After the first half, Brett that I feel like they
kind of went to the well on the passing game
a little bit too much and after the interception there
by irving to start the second half, Coach Hashnak and
his staff clearly have thought about it and established, Hey,
we're gonna win this game, We're gonna have to go
on the ground pounding, and that's what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
Yeah, limit the possessions of holland Christian offensively too, Senor
a left side, big old inside the thirty five, thirty one,
a cut inside the twenty trying to come back of
the ten down inside the five and caught them behind.
He's down to the four yard line first and no
Wildcats number six will send Europe same play over the
(01:28:54):
left side. What a cut that it was supposed to
be to the outside, but then Senora just puts his.
Speaker 3 (01:29:01):
Foot in the ground and goes right over the himp
and the left tackle. Great cut, great vision. He picks
up forty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Irvin under center, we saw this earlier. They go I
for Mason sing, you're the iback Henning in there is
the full back, the linebacker. They give it said, you're
a right side touchdown. Wildcats fowling his full back then
to slice to the left back to back rushing touchdowns
for Senora and north Through now increases their lead to
(01:29:31):
twenty seven to twenty. Starting to wear on that Allen
Christian defensive front. Just the Ben Senora.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
They brought him in the last series of the first half,
and he's continued here in the second half. Probably going
to hear his name quite a bit more before this
game is over.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Going for the outright okay black division ground if they
can win here tonight over Holland. Christian Sanchez on to
try to teck on the extra point, low snap, Good
job by Irvin, get it do, Dick is up and
it is good. So with five eighteen left to go
on to third, Northfield scores again to increase their lead.
They leading over Holly Christen twenty eight to twenty back

This is the LMCU High School Football Game of the
Week on ninety six to one.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
The game. Some good ball games going on around the
West Biscon area. Stay with us for the scoreboard show
with Rick Burkey and all of our live game reporters,
plus here from the head coaches from different games. Rick
we'll have it all coming up once we are done here.
Low bouncing kick rolls inside the thirty taking on the
(01:31:20):
fly there and on their return for Holland Christians Carter Brower,
he's a backup senior running back, just to get some
positive to the thirty. Ball is rolling. That's a live
football two on the turf. So first and ten Holland
Christian was some work to do. You remember it's still
a one score game. We'll recap that Northeu scoring drive
capped off by Sidura, this time a four yard touchdown run,
(01:31:43):
his second rushing touchdown of the night, but first first
down in ten feet back on the Carrie four, Holland
Christian over the left side, finds a greast and he's
out across the thirty five. Good positive run to the
thirty seven yard line. Second and three coming up for
the Maroons, Elean nor Ifew pulling out now in front
(01:32:03):
by eight points. Five plays, sixty seventy yards, two minutes
and eight seconds off the clock.
Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
All runs, all the time, all senior as he cashed
in from four yards out to complete the drive twenty
eight twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Feet going wide again left side, short side of the field,
trying to get that first down marker, he'll be close
at the forty. You're right, Buck Jeer. You can just
see it in the tone of this Northview team. They're
already tough physically defensively, but offensively leading on that offensive line.
I think you're gonna see a lot of mister Wilsonora
number six in this second half.
Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
Well, and also Holland Christian realizing that that might be
how the game has won for them as well, trying
to establish that run. Of course, Evan Aberger is going
to have something to say about that, but they need
to get that ground game going to just get some
momentum and keep the time of possession somewhat equal.
Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Got a first down there on the carry by feet.
They give it to him just by the nose of
football at the forty and on first in ten they
go back to number thirty junior running back and he's
out to the forty four yard line. Pretty good sized
offensive line for Holly Christen as well left tackle Alex
Blockmeier as senior left guard number sixty four Jackson Allen,
(01:33:16):
a junior for of these stars. Junior's right guard Jackson
Bishops center is Jonathan not and then the right tackles
Hayden Fee big number seventy eight only a junior as well.
Second down and six aberg Oh takes the snapsets fires
and incomplete good and coverage over there, tight coverage Northview,
and I think that's our guyer Colin Gesner has football
(01:33:42):
was boy.
Speaker 4 (01:33:44):
We talked about how.
Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
Many knockaways as he had three maybe at least. We
talked about Julian Charity and the presidence he has well.
They clearly thought, okay, we'll pick on Colin Guesser. Yeah,
that's not going so well either.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
He's had a whale a football game, good coverage there
as he looking for Bruxford. They thought they could get
that match up early and just hasn't come in because
Guester's played a pretty good game.
Speaker 2 (01:34:05):
We look at Julian Charity up tight in the face
that time of desbon Meyer. Now they go feak wide
short side of the field away from Charity and how
far do you get up the sideline? They're gonna get
across the midfields, right, but he's got the first down.
Holland Christian impressively on the ground trying to answer the
Northfew score and by the way, I might have mentioned
(01:34:27):
Jalen Charity instead of Julian Charity earlier when he made
a nice play defensively. Jalen's in the house watching his
younger brother. I saw him out here earlier, of course,
over at Grand Valley State, finishing off a great basketball career.
Such a good basketball player here for the Wildcats back
in the day. But Julian Charity one of those cover
(01:34:47):
corners for Norfew, and he is right up tight on
myred right in front of his mear side. He's almost
upside first down in ten two wide receivers each way
they go wide with feak. Again, they some of that
left side grease as he gets positive Yochdridge to the
forty six Wildcats, or if your defense doing a better
(01:35:09):
job there, just to gain him to second and eight
as we roll under two forty and ticking left to
go into third. Twenty eight to twenty nor Few by eights.
But it's been a back and forth game. If you're
just tuning in, it was twenty one to twenty at
the break.
Speaker 3 (01:35:21):
Well and coland Christian doing a nice transition here. They've
got a three man line, so they're gonna even front
head up. But those linebackers that like to come downhill.
Sometimes you get creased if you're coming down that blitz,
and that's what Holland Christian has been able to find
a couple of times his feet just running into those
creases and picking up some decent.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
Yard Brady Becker dropping back as one of the safeties
late there, Aberger sets fires, got a first down on
the far sideline right in front of the Holand Christian bench.
Nice pitch and catch that time inside the thirty five.
Groaton Heiss intended receiver has been his favorite target number
three tonight and he's to the thirty three yard line
pickup of thirteen.
Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
I would say Aberger's best throw, not as far as
as yardage or anything else, but just sets his feet
and that's the Evan Amberger that I saw yes summer,
just driving the football into a tight window there, good
coverage over there by Guessner, he was right on. But
put just a great throw there by Aberger into the
hands of Groten Heist.
Speaker 4 (01:36:20):
Nothing the defender can do.
Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
Think about the numbers coming in over fourteen hundred yards
passing twenty one touchdowns to Newayant's did throw one in
the first half is first of the season. But impressive
one think about for two he's played at all games,
but how many of those games is he exited in
the second half to margin victory. Now motion to man
over to go two wide receivers each way and one
on one coverage but knocked away by Charity. Good coverage
(01:36:45):
that time inside the five. A'min Christian not afraid to
go over the top and Aberger can throw that ball
but incomplete that time. I think he was looking for
once again Josh Brooksworth. Yeah, and that's that's what it was.
Speaker 4 (01:37:02):
Croton he but Julian Charity just.
Speaker 3 (01:37:04):
That's why they hadn't thrown it that side that much
is because it looked like he didn't have the leverage.
But he just makes an athletic play, goes across the
body of Groton Heist and knocks it away right before
the ball gets there.
Speaker 4 (01:37:18):
Just an impressive play by Charity.
Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
Don't you think that was because of the way Guesters
played him on the other side. Yeah, the field and
take a chance, but Charity there to answer, well, you
got I mean, he's there to answer the all.
Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
They took Meyer on the other side and saw if
they could get groten Heist one on one, but Charity
just haven't none of it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:33):
Second and ten, Block stops rolling to his left and
throwing it up and almost intercepted. He was looking for
Kanfara's big tied end incomplete, but I tell you what,
running out of real estate because he was forced to
the far sideline that time was aber Well.
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
And Jojashnak and crew. They weren't really disguising the blitz.
They came right before the snap and tried to go
up the middle double a gap over and Aberger recognize
that spins out to the left side, just again a
little bit out of control because of the pressure and
can't hit Conferra downfield.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
We'll allow you to do this because it's our Lake
Short game of the week with our Lake Shore crew.
But if you want to switch back and forth with
our broadcast and theirs over on one O seven point
nine and M Byron Center. After Mskegan took the lead
fourteen to ten, is now answered. They lead at seventeen
to fourteen with under six minutes left to go in
that contest fast movie game. Third and ten. We're still
in the third quarter here, three wide receivers. They're right.
(01:38:31):
They go back to the left can play nice kickout
block for a first down inside the twenty five and
down to the twenty two yard line. Josh Bruxford with
the catch that time. And they love that little kind
of bubble screen with a kickout block coming from the
other wide receiver on the inside set up by Aberger. Yeah,
(01:38:51):
it's almost like a counter action right on the screen pass.
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
They bring the inside receiver to crack down or crack
out and then get ruck.
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
In that slot lane. It's just a nice little play.
Two wide receivers each way outside the right. Hast Blitz
was coming, got his man and still fighting. I thought
he's gonna step out of bounds inside the fifteen down
about the eleven yard line and close the first down.
Simon Grotenheiss another catch for the big fella. That will
be enough for a Maroon first down. Moved the change.
(01:39:21):
Twenty seven seconds left to go in the third. Let's
see where they spot this. It's gonna be first in
ten of the eleven yard line of Northfield.
Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
I gotta tell you, Wilson here came in unblocked, and
Aberger that internal clock sped up really fast because he
had to deliver the football. Did so very nicely. Then
guesser just falls down. I think he probably could have
knocked the ball away.
Speaker 2 (01:39:45):
Speaking the backfield, they'll hand off to him now crashing
inside the ten and hit and shove back point physical
game Northfield, say they got the football. I think they're
gonna whistle this one debt with Ford progress. They will
at the eight yard line and that will run out
the third quarter. Well, partner, Holland Christian, just does it
go away? Heck of a football game here, we'll head
(01:40:07):
to the fourth maroons are driving. It's Northview twenty eight
Holland Christian twenty and you're listening to a weekend edition
of the LMCU High School Football Game of the Week
live here on ninety six to one. The game Brepikita

Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
We see all of you. Here we go buck Chino
eight point game. A hollow Christian driving here second and
seven from the north few eight yard line play action
rolling to his right, looking under pressure. Now reverses feel
(01:41:36):
back left, trying to run inside the five. Lowrista's shoulder, Aberger,
tough kid down to about the four yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:41:44):
It'll be third mark at the three.
Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
They get the three or the four? Yeah, I said
the four and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:41:54):
Yeah, Evan Emberer just he knew the walls were closed
in Yeah, was full Superman just squares.
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
His pads and launches himself. He's gonna need somewhere around
two and a half to three yards to pick this up.
He can get a first down inside the one. Keep
that in mind. It's third and they're calling it three
on the scoreboard. Obviously from the four, he'd love to
get pay dirt here just underway fourth quarter. Don't forget
we got a doozy developing our Lake Shore Game of
(01:42:22):
the Week down at Waddale Field and Byron Center, seventeen
fourteen b C Oak Mastie, and we'll probably get an
update from Rick Burkey with that ghost final coming up
twenty eight to twenty though. Here Holland Christian, can they
tie it up? Swinging to his left? Touchdown penalty flag
comes out late, but I think it's gonna be interference.
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
Yeah, there was a little bit of a pick there,
but we.
Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
Had Willoughby offense or defense croten. Heis comes down with
in the end zone. Evan Aberger with the touchdown pass.
I think there was a pick underneath. There was another
wide receiver there from Ala Christian. You're right outside of
him as he did a little down and out. Let's
see what the call is pass interference against the offense,
(01:43:07):
Holland Christian, this one's coming back. Yeah, And I didn't
see the number there, but they clearly ran underneath and
they got somebody. They bumped him off their defensive space
and that's why they're calling it.
Speaker 4 (01:43:23):
And they're giving the explanation to Dave Ebert.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Yeah, he's not happy, he says, gonna be happy. Well,
he's saying that my guy on the outside has the
right to run his route. Yeah, and he and they're saying, well,
but it was a pick.
Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
I mean, basically, there's there's a lot of pick plays
that don't get called, and I think some coaches just
wanted to They just want to make sure that it
doesn't get called at that part. But I mean, there
was some pretty heavy contact down there, Brett. We could
see it from here, and I think that's what drew
it and.
Speaker 2 (01:43:50):
Not the contact itself. But I mean, he just flat
out ran into the defender and that freed up the
lane to throw it to growing Heist.
Speaker 4 (01:43:57):
And that makes it third and long.
Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
Yeah, to back him up to the fifteen yard penalty
nineteen yard line. Yeah, it's third and eighteen again, they
can get a first down inside to one four down
territory though for Holland Christian. Here the Wildcat fans started
to getting a cheer on the defense. Abertter looking looking
now flushed out a bocket.
Speaker 9 (01:44:18):
Look out, he's gonna go down sack back of the
twenty five yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
Nowhere to go, and the northfield defense closed.
Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
In on him.
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
Well, And that's the one disadvantage sometimes is if he
was a right handed quarterback, he can spin out that side.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
And he can still just keep going and keep the
pass option alive.
Speaker 3 (01:44:40):
But that time, because he's left handed spinning to his right,
his opposite hand has no way to turn his body
and set his feet and just didn't have a lane.
And so they had to take the sack and a
fourth down and almost goal from the twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:44:54):
I mean, you have to go for it here, bet,
there's not anything.
Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
Else you can do. Was that Gessner on the sack?
I think it was, Yes, played a whale of a
game number nine, as it eventually just broke down as
far as a pocket for Aberger, Yeah, good Guester got
him on the backside.
Speaker 3 (01:45:10):
Didn't catch the number, but clearly Aberger just didn't have
a way to get around it.
Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
That was Guester, who's out now on fired like you's
bet most of the night. Fourth down and twenty four
after the sack, gonna go forth throwing over the top
to the end zone, knocked away and complete. They were
looking for groat and eyes, but there were just too
many black jerseys over there to knock it away. And
the North Few defense holds nine thirty six left to
(01:45:38):
go with this.
Speaker 13 (01:45:39):
All right, we're cutting into the studio, guys, big game
in the ok Green our Lake Shore Game of the
week Byron Center leads Muskegan seventeen to fourteen. Again Byron Center,
seventeen Miskegan fourteen, about four minutes ago. We'll send it
back to you. We'll update that in detail in a
high school scoreboard show.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
Guys, all right, thank you, Rick, appreciate that. We'll keep
it right here by the way. Fourth quarter meets we
goosey fan of the game. We're gonna take caller seven.
I'll give you the phone line to call Joe Air'll
be standing by and back in our grand Rapid studios
after this play first down and ten and you'll win
(01:46:14):
a twenty five dollars gift card if you're the correct caller.
As handoff, they'll keep it on the ground. Jalen gan't
positive Gottage across the thirty nice pickup on first down,
they'll spot into the thirty one, give them six second
down and four. All right, caller seven right now at
six one six four five four thirty seven seventy six.
That's caller seven, six one six four five four thirty
(01:46:36):
seven seventy six. If you've won already this season, you're
not eligible and to get a twenty five dollars gift
card on the line will announce our winner. And where
you're listening from tonight coming up in our postgame show.
Gant gets it again left side as coach os shchnag,
I'm gonna take any chance to with an eight point lead,
huge crowd for the blackout night, and they've got the
first down leading on that offensive line as they have
(01:46:59):
as you touched. But Gino in your keys the second half.
In the second half is he takes it across the
thirty five to the thirty six.
Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
Well, and this is where NORTHEU starts now to exert
its will up front. Senora and Gant starting to get
larger chunks of yardage each time they.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
Handle the football. And Howland Christian up front starting to
get moved around a little bit out of the pistol formation. Gant,
to the left of Irving, gets the handoff right between
the guards and over center, plowing his way forward. Not
much working at that time. Better job of the Holland
Christian defense. They stack him up.
Speaker 3 (01:47:35):
Yeah, right as they say that, they make one last
stand up there defensively. They've been subbing some guys in
Jackson Bishop, one of those guys up front that has
played almost the entire game.
Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
But now they go full back. Oh no, I'm sorry,
it's Irving in there, out of the pistol formation. But
they go with Senora back in there. Motion a man
over from right to left. He'll get the carre left
side big hole this time across the forty eighties post
that first down marker out across the forty five about
the forty six yard like go Inn mark about a
half yard short after a game of just won by
(01:48:11):
Gant on first down. So Thornton short coming up for Northfield.
Substitutions both ways. As we roll the clock unders seven
thirty left to go on the ballgate. Yes, Senior, clearly
a downhill runner.
Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
They just get him on that deep handoff and he
just gets a lot of momentum over that left side.
Speaker 2 (01:48:30):
They like the left side.
Speaker 3 (01:48:31):
They found some good running wanes over there, and Senora
pounds it down for eight.
Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
Now they go under center with I mean eye formation,
and I tell you what a difference when they bring
in Easton Hennanon as the fullback to lead the way
as he did there, big hole over the right side
of that Holland Christian defense. On the left side, he's
across the midfield stripe in the Rood territory to the
forty eight fresh sent of downs first in ten wild
(01:48:56):
gaps out in the Wildcats.
Speaker 4 (01:48:57):
Now they can they can start to sense it. And
hownd Christian.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
Also is trying to tyckle some guys in up front
because there's a couple of hands on hips. But Northview
just going to the body now started to work those
those body shots, those big swings with Senora and Gamp.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
They're stacking it a tight end on the right side.
Now Gamp back in there, trying to make a man
miss so slippery running he gets so skinny in there
between the creases to pick up positive downtage to the
forty six yard line. Of game callers seven good luck
six one, six, four, five, four, thirty seven, seventy six
to our studios and Joe Aaron taking those falls for
(01:49:36):
a wake. Josey fan of the game wing Juicy Unbelievable
Wings named the best Chicken Wings in West Misigan three
years running at all those fries, so good locations in
Wyoming at the Metro Health Village right off of Byron
Center Avenue with just off Chicago Drive with a sports
bar in Lutsonville right next to Gemen's Ace Hardware. Second
and eight repeicita Bucchino. Another good one here tonight a
week eight seven and oh Northfew six to one Holland Christian.
(01:49:59):
Now the Wildcats going to work. No one wants to
tackle Senior and he's inside the thirty five, crashing his
way down to the thirty one yard line, coming in chunks, now, Bucks,
you know that Holland Christian defense starting to tire out.
Game to fifteen, first and ten Northfield. I tell you what,
if the Wildcats win here tonight, there's gonna be a
celebration on Plainfield Avenue because they will be your outright
(01:50:21):
okay Black Division champs and they will be eight to
no if they can hang on for the first time
since nineteen seventy.
Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
It's not that nobody wants to tackle senior, right, you
just got to get in front of him.
Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
There's not a lot of people willing to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
And boy, he's just running with a purpose in north
View now, getting farther and farther into ruined territory, and
you kind of feel like if the Maroons can't get
to stop here soon to get the ball back, that
this might be it and they're gonna have a time
out here by north View or do we have a
delay game?
Speaker 2 (01:50:54):
It's gonna be delay up game against the Wildcats. I
think coach Ashnack he's never half him stuff like that, understandably,
but it's one of those where you can live with
it a little bit because they did want some clock down.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
Yeah, I think he's unhappy because, I mean, Arman Irving
being a third year guy, it's like, you know where
the plaguelock, you know the bag judge's getting it off right,
And so I think that's where his frustration lies, is
that once it's senior quarterback to be a little bit
more aware.
Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
But you're right, you can kind of live with.
Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
That old I formation right here, buck Gino pretty much
the entire way since Sinnora's come in handing in the
lead block or the full back and he crashes inside
the thirty five hour. Remember when the penalty back to
bump gets just to the thirty three So second and
twelve coming up for Northfield. But again they can go
(01:51:42):
to work on that clock. We'll see if Holland Christian
starts to burn some time outs here. Yeah, I find
it can serve some time well.
Speaker 3 (01:51:51):
Obviously, the pivot point of this game the offensive pass
interference that took away a touchdown, and I don't know
if Alan Krisch.
Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
Would have gone for two there. They would have had
to do it at some point. They might have had
to do it there, but instead called backing down Northview
in full command, extra tight end stacked in and senior
over the left side. Another cras inside the twenty out
about the eighteen yard line. I'm out that offensive line
for Norfew doing a great job down the stretch. Andre Johnson,
(01:52:18):
Carson Ginn, Lincoln Chalmers, the center, Tyler Doobie, Braden Taylor,
Jack van Poyn, and they got an extra tight end
as well on the other side, just going with one
wide receiver trying to finish this one off. Buck Gino
Wanter remighty to stay with us. The discount door postgame
show coming up once we're done here. Before we get
into the full scoreboard show with Rick Burkey and all
(01:52:39):
of our game reporters, you'll hear from some head coaches
after big victories around the area, all coming up here
on ninety six won the game and also simulcast on
one O seven mus the Moose. Now play action. They've
got a man inside the five down near the goal line.
Now you enjoy that. On the roll out by armand Hervey.
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
Yeah, Tyson has been a favorite target of hit Is,
especially in the second half, and they just roll play
action boot and Irving gets out there, not poorly covered
by howand Krischner's some good coverage both on Irving and
the receiver, but just a good play there to get
the play its completed and Tyson almost gets it in
(01:53:18):
but just can't cash it.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
And Tyson logan down to the one hour of an
under center I formation again give to the big fellow,
said you're right with this third rushing touchdown of the
ninth second from one yard outs, and that might be
the exclamation point. Thirty four to twenty now extra when
I'm coming. Northview leads over Holland Christian with three fifty
five left to go.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
Well, if it's not the knockout blow, it's definitely worthy
of a standing eight count because Holland Christian back on
their heels after that touchdown was taken back and Northview
forcefully down the field, capping it off with Senira's third
touchdown of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Oscar Sanchez has had to try to tack on the
extra point. Irvin gets it down, kick is up, and
it's good. Three fifty five lefty going regulation. Our score
now reads the Northview Wildcats thirty five the Maroons of
Holland Christen twenty Welcome back with a conclusion of this
one after this says you're listening to a weekend edition

fired up. We got a Martin Burner of a finish

I got a great story for our wing doo asy
(01:56:04):
fan of the game tonight. We'll give you after this
play first down and ten Holland Christian down two scores
now for the first time tonight, rolling to their left
after he takes the snap Aberger and he has swarmed
under tried to get it out quickly, but no one
there to throw it to and then or if your
defense swallows him up with the twenty gate of just
one second to nine smart pink tusy correct caller for
(01:56:27):
callers seven. Matt Reemon of San Lake and he's in
Northview Graduate listening to his Wildcats tonight, Class of nineteen
seventy nine. Congratulations bat twenty five dollars gift caught and
listening to your wildcats trying to go to eight to o.
Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Well, I'm sure he remembers the seventy seven year that
started out seven to oh ended up eight and one.
Great to see you know again, it doesn't take much
and love and I love to hear that kind of stuff.
They're the hometown team doing well in Northview doing the
rest of the Northview alumni.
Speaker 2 (01:57:01):
Proud tonight, Holland Christian camping on the ground. What a
big hit that time against Peak. That was Brody Rabe.
Oh man, what a robot at the thirty. He did
pick up the first down and stayed in bounds or
do they say he got knocked out about? So he
was knocked out about now? They run first down, moved
(01:57:22):
the chain stopped it momentarily, so two forty five and
ticking left to go fresh un announced Roland Christen first
and ten. It just went final at Waddelle Field in
our Lake. Short game of the week. Congratulations to Mark
Cisco and the Bulldogs. They knock off Muskegan seventeen to fourteen,
and by doing that might have eliminated the Big Reds
officially out of the NHSA playoffs. Yeah, I mean they've
(01:57:42):
got Cincinnati Moore next week, which is the tall task
for a lot of teams, much less the big reds
Aberger sets after taking the snap, fires and what a catch.
You're right, the wide receivers have helped him all night long.
Pretty good blanket coverage by Northview, but completely to Croaton Heist,
who's had a monster game at the thirty nine. Just
(01:58:03):
try that first down marker pick up of nine.
Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
I mean, they're probably gonna lose this game, but I
tell you coming away impressed with the wide receiving cores
of Holland, Christian, Bruxford, Groton, Heiss, Conferra. I mean, just
if you throw it in the same zip code, they're
probably coming down with it. Just a tremendous job of
getting to the football and bringing it in and not
a perfect pass, just has to get there.
Speaker 2 (01:58:28):
Aberger with two wide receivers to the right, two to left,
one back in the back of your rolling left, fires
in complates and getting there right with the ball. Was
trying to come in to lose to Bruxford. Nice play
by the secondary man and that was Curtis Parker with
the knock away. So third and one coming up for Holland, Christian.
(01:58:53):
Stay with us in the Discount Door post game show,
Buccanhou Selector Uptown Chefskate Offensive Player of the game. Also
our Montel Construction Deepensive Player of the game, and our
J and H Family Stores highlighted again. It's all coming
up the Discount Door post game show before we get
you to the scoreboard show Full edition with Rick Burkey
and the rest of our crew. Won thirty four left
to go on this one thirty five twenty North few
(01:59:17):
ready to push to eight to no. But more importantly
an outright okay Black Division crowd. In Ryan Osnach's fourth season,
they keep it on the ground more and now the
carry for Holland Christian was no offeat the junior. He
gets a first down across the forty out to the
forty three to move the chains. Don't forget Central Michigan
in action tomorrow is well on our stations. They'll be
(01:59:39):
ollru on Talk twelve thirty am with a one o'clock
pre game from Ipsilanti getting ready to take on in
state rival Eastern Michigan two o'clock kickoff c if you
football on Talk twelve thirty am tomorrow afternoon. Aberger on
the run throws incomplete his job knocked away again. Guestner
(01:59:59):
has been fanned fantastic tonight over there.
Speaker 3 (02:00:01):
Yeah, I mean he's been working on Bruxford most of
the night and it's been tough sledding for number five
in the White Jersey because Guesser is having a heck
of a game coming that time from the back side of.
Speaker 4 (02:00:16):
The play and knocking it down.
Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
I think these defensive backs have been impressive tonight for Norfiew.
I mean, these are good wide receivers who have made
some great catches where they don't get credit for that,
but we've talked about it. They've had good coverage well.
And the thing is, you know, when we look towards
the playoffs, because clearly Northew's going to be there, they're
in Division two and there's some talented receivers that they're
going to match up with. Isaac Lee from Byron Center.
(02:00:40):
How about a Byron Center and Norfew matchup maybe in
Week one potentially or Mona Shores, I mean, depending how
the points fall. Second down and ten after the incompletion,
Aberger sets and fires and complete got his man in
wildcat territory and out of bounce the forty nine yard line.
(02:01:01):
That was Canfara the tight end game. Confara, he was
one of multiple wide receivers in one hundred yards last
week in that win over.
Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
I mean they listened to the tight end, but he's
pretty much what they call nasty split. I mean he's
usually off the line, standing up and just a real
big body that creates a lot of problems.
Speaker 2 (02:01:23):
Mismatch wide third and short fans coming to their feet,
hand offf feet, trying to go why nothing doing Oh
what a stick? As he hits a wall of black
and is push back, He's gonna lose yardage back on
the Holland Christian side of the fifty. Those spot him
at the forty nine.
Speaker 3 (02:01:40):
That was greasing Coral and just textbook just I mean
take down two points for Tras and Coral and burying
feet at the point of attack.
Speaker 2 (02:01:51):
Wildcast did a great job here in this second half.
Remember it was twenty one twenty Northview by one. They
pitched a shut out here this and a half. Obviously
halftime adjustments by coach Oshnock and his staff, and these
seniors just starting to taste it as they got in
the fourth quarter. They want this outright dimish crown Aberger
(02:02:13):
back to pass and incomplete little Tall for his tender
receiver at the Northview forty and that will do it
as they've done the entire second half. The Northview Wildcats
get another defensive stop on a turnover on downs and
with twelve seconds left to go, it's the favorite formation,
pretty team who's in front and football victory formation coming
(02:02:36):
up for the Wildcats. Well and well deserved for Northview.
A heck of a fight by Holland Christian.
Speaker 3 (02:02:42):
Clearly a critical offensive pass interference penalty made this one.
Speaker 4 (02:02:49):
In the favor of Northview at the end.
Speaker 3 (02:02:51):
But I mean, I'm telling you Northview the second half, Brett,
I don't know if Howland Christian gets that score that
they were gonna be.
Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
Able to stop Northview on the ground because.
Speaker 3 (02:02:59):
Wilson your and Jalen Gant, we're just getting chunks of
yardage in that last drive. Very impressive for the Wildcats.
They move to eight no and are the undisputed Okay
Black champions.
Speaker 2 (02:03:11):
Irvin takes a snap, goes to a knee. Who's he
gonna give that game ball to? Maybe his head coach,
Ryan Hostach, who has led the Wildcats to an eight
no start. You gotta go back to nineteen seventy, folks,
the last time that happened as Northview wins it here
tonight in a great game in a week eight thirty
(02:03:31):
five to twenty over Holland Christian. They improved to eight no.
Holland Christian falls to six and two. But more importantly,
the North Few Wildcats are your twenty twenty four outright okay,
Black Division champions. We've got a lot to get to
coming up in our discount door postgame show. We're gonna
do that after this time out, and then of course
(02:03:52):
stick around the Scoreboard Show all the scores fro around
the area, plus live game reports from all of our
reporters coming up in the Scoreboard Show with Rick Perky,
We're not going anywhere. It's a week in edition of
the LFCU High School Football Game of the Week. Here
on ninety six to one, it's the gate.
Speaker 14 (02:04:07):
Are you ready to refresh your fall wardrobe without breaking
the bank?
Speaker 11 (02:04:10):
Up down, cheapskate, As you covered, they paid cash for
your clothes and have styles you love for less, clean

that that's coming up next Friday night. Of course, six o'clock.
It all starts with Rick with the Janis Family Stars

is celebrating their one hundredth year of high school football
for the Broncs. Ed came and excited we're coming up there. Well,
I know he was a little bit disappointed after last week,
but a big game against a non conference opponent in
Big Rapids who is six and one themselves, But it's
(02:08:41):
all I know.
Speaker 3 (02:08:43):
You can't say that game doesn't matter, but really the
game that matters is next week for the first conference
championship to be awarded in the River City's Alliance and
that boy, a big game up in Coopersville, and we're
glad to go out there again.
Speaker 4 (02:08:56):

was under coach Meherman.
Speaker 2 (02:09:04):
Back of the day. And it'll be good to go
back out there and see her. Guska polka guy. I
love Gusts and he's done a great job with really
a team that's still kind of young, you know, and
doesn't have a ton of experience, but doing a great
job of coaching up there, and they'll be playing for
the conference title next week. All right, let's welcoming into

(02:15:06):
over now for the uptown cheapskate offensive Player of the Game.
And but gino, what do you think? A lot of
good candidates tonight, but one kind of stood out in
that second half.
Speaker 3 (02:15:14):
Yeah, it was the guy that they didn't think was
going to play any offense tonight, or at least they
didn't project it, senior running back slash linebacker Will SENIORA
coach Ashnach told us they were trying to limit his
play on offense because it's kind of dinged up. He
was hurt, not injured, but still playing on defense. But
they were really going to try to limit him. And
(02:15:35):
they went to him in the second half because they
needed to get that ground game going. They knew that
was going to be the secret sauce to really salt
this game away. And all Will Senior did was score
three touchdowns on the ground, three unanswered by Northview to
end this football game. They were down twenty to fourteen.
And then it was the Will Senior show. Once in
(02:15:57):
the second, once in the third, and once in the fourth.
Uptown cheapskate offensive player of the game. Will soonor are
three touchdowns all rushing on the night.
Speaker 4 (02:16:06):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (02:16:06):
He was really the heart and the heartbeat of this
team tonight, and you could see it. They wanted him
out there. They need him out there on offense, and
he came through of those three rushing touchdowns to be
the Night's Uptown Cheapskate Player of the game, congratulates number
six senior linebackers slash running back and for his efforts,
will get to go shopping on us to Uptown Cheapskate

earned cash for your clothes unless you can become an
Uptown insider and get monthly deals at uptown cheapskate dot com. Well,
on the defensive side, I thought the defensive secondary for
north he was outstanding against these wide receivers. They really
made him work, even though Alan Christian did a nice
(02:16:48):
job of completing passes. Great wide receiver catches. Aberger is
the real deal. But you look at it in the end.
I thought we called one name particular and he had
a tough assignment going up against Groteneiss the night making
plays and knockaways. And that was number nine. Colin Gesner,
the junior defensive back for Northfield. Boy, he was all
(02:17:08):
over the place tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:17:09):
Now they had him matched up against Bruxford and they
had Julian Charity matched up against Mired has been Mired,
and they just thought maybe that would work better. But
klin Gesner played his role to a te great plays,
knocking the ball away, tight coverage, even getting in on
(02:17:31):
the action. Blitzing had a quarterback sack there late in
the in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (02:17:37):
Just a great job there by Number nine Colin Guesser
a whale of football game and really helped Northews alt
this one away defensively. And he'll be our Montel Construction
Defensive Player of the Game. Brought to you by my
home team, Montel Construction. Just down the road here by
the way off a playfield, roofed windows, signing, decking, find
out more get your exterior products done before winner with
Montel Construction dot Com. So the offensive player gets a
(02:17:59):
gift the defensive player, what do they get, like they
get a bag like they're too tough for a gain?
Speaker 4 (02:18:05):
Do they get like a bag of riffing nails or something?
Speaker 2 (02:18:08):
That's whether the defensive player of the game they're too tough,
which leads us into by the way, going back to
our offensive player of the game, are J and H
Family Stores Highlight and why not one of three touchdowns,
but it was the one that kind of was the
difference to put Northview in front for good. Here's number
six to it is stuff. The linebacker they give it said,
(02:18:28):
you're a right side touchdown. Wildcats fowling his full back.
Then to slice to the left, back to back Rushet
touchdowns forse in Era and North Through now increases their
lead to twenty seven to twenty. There's your JNH Family
Stores highlight of the game, brought to you by JH
Family Stores. If you're listening by the way on your
way home, stop by one of their sixty plus locations
(02:18:51):

Stores stopping on the way to your next game or
on your way home. Well, as we wrap things up,
congratulations to Ryan Oshnock. Thanks to coach Oshnock and coach
Aberger for helping us with our broadcast prep for tonight's contest.
I know both school is excited to have us out
here to broadcast this game tonight. Now you can listen
to the archive and our podcast section will be up shortly.
(02:19:13):
John Elk will take care of it once we are
done here at Wildcat stadium and that's the Trinity Health
High School Football page and nine to six to one
the game dot com. But as these teams move on,
the good news is both them headed to the playoffs
and we might be covering their game and the drive
to Ford Field. Yeah. How on Christian and Division four,
which is just a minefield of teams. I mean, you're
(02:19:36):
gonna have four and five or five and four South
Christian team being the four seed in a district probably,
I mean, that's how deep Division four is on this
side of the state. And so how in Christian who are.
Speaker 3 (02:19:48):
They gonna get? Arey're gonna get Unity? Are they going
to get you know, are they gonna get Forest Fields?
Speaker 2 (02:19:53):
Eastern?
Speaker 3 (02:19:54):
I mean, there's all sorts of different possibilities that could
come in Division four, but just so many good teams
in that division. And then Division two for Northview. I
mean we just talked about them Byron Center.
Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
In Division two.
Speaker 3 (02:20:08):
You also have Mona Shores in Division two, so you know,
Caledonia also potentially still in the running for the playoffs,
and just a lot of good teams in that division
as well.
Speaker 4 (02:20:20):
So be interesting to see who they match up against.
Speaker 2 (02:20:22):
And you know, the one thing for Northview going eight
to oh and potentially nine to zero if they can
pull off a win against Forest Hills Northern next week.
Speaker 3 (02:20:29):
Is they'll probably host the game now because of the
way their their division and their conference is set up,
they're the only Division two team in there, so they're
not getting a ton of bonus points. Forest Hills Northern
is really the only big school similar to high school
that they play, but they'll still have a nine to
oh record, which means a lot of points, so they
might get to host a playoff game here at Wildcat Stadium.
I gotta believe that's the first time they've hosted one
(02:20:52):
here at Northview ever for the school, so that'd be
a huge, huge boost if they can get to nine
and oh and.
Speaker 2 (02:20:58):
Host the playoff game. Special thanks a our host, Athletic
Director to Night, Pat Marsman, so excited to have us here,
and Pat, you and your staff did a great job.
We'll be coming back, trust me. The blackout was the
real deal, with the tail getting started about four thirty
and we came out here doing our hits at five
o'clock in the news at Fox seventeen and it was crazy.
Speaking of that, the Fox seventeen Blitz coming up tomorrow morning.

the scoreboard updates back in the studios as once again
(02:21:40):

Now you're outright okay, Black Division champs, get it done
over Holland Christian thirty five to twenty. You're listening to
the high school football Game of the Week right here
on ninety six to one.
Speaker 4 (02:21:57):
