Holland and MKDE Funeral Homes. Now let's head courtside for

(00:31):
the call of tonight's action. Here's Fred Mkita and Chason Hutton.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Welcome Thursday, you Never Want and Welcome Alive to Hudsonville
Field House on the campus of Hudsonville High where tonight
on the Road to the President Center.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Presented by MKD Theater Holmes, we feature.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Division one Boys Regional Final as Cam Carroll the nineteen
and six Bulldogs at Byron Center square off with Jovon
Daniels in the nineteen and five Eagles of Hudsonville. A
regional championship trophy on the line, but more importantly, a
trip to the Elite Eight in the quarterfinals next Tuesday night.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
As I welcome in my partner Jason Hutton.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
We were here on Tuesday night and watching Hudsonville have
an easy time.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Boy.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
They were knocking down threes, Joe Bondaniels leading away with
twenty three points as they took care of West Donnawa
easily in that one jay eighty six to forty seven.
And then the nightcap did not disappoint Byron's Center in
Northview and the Bulldogs pulled out late sixty to fifty
five despite their big Villa Camp Carroll falling out with
about two minutes left to go in that one.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Well, for Hudsonville, it's just kind of picking up where
they've left off because this entire tournament run, they're not
just winning, they're winning big. Twenty seven over Genis in
the district opener, twenty nine over Grandville in the district final,
thirty nine over West Ottawa in the regional semifinal.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
And someone might want to.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Say, yeah, well those teams aren't the top tier of
teams in West Michigan, Okay, But still, I mean Hudsonville
is clicking on all cylinders.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
I don't think you can argue with that.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
And for Byron Center won a game against Northview on Tuesday.
I mean, just two heavyweights going had to head. That
one was everything I think everybody I hope it would be.
There was a huge crowd here at Hudsonville field House,
a one point game in the final minute, and Byron
Center held them off. Keyan Hinko with that huge third
quarter stretch where he scored eleven straight Bulldog points and
Byron Center got it done. You know, they never won,
They hadn't won a district title in thirty years before

(02:16):
last week.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Who they are in the regional final. It's been a while,
and no one's better than Eric Kelly. Excuse me on that.
Of course, we call him mister District around here for
Hudsonville sixteenth season coaching at his alma mater, nine district
titles after they won just last week at the Grandville
District beating the Bulldogs in the finals, and they are
playing some great basketball and Jay, I'm so excited for
the matchups tonight. It doesn't get much better this. When

(02:37):
you look at the starting fives, both teams not very deep.
I would argue Hudsonville probably a little bit deeper on
their bench, maybe one or two extra players. Everyone shortens
their benches, you know, come tournament time.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
But when you looking at ISAAC matching this game tonight,
the fieldhouse here at Hudsonville in their second season being opened,
seats about forty three hundred were expecting standing room only.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
For this one tonight.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
With Byron Center just down the road, they had fourth
h plus they estimated on Tuesday night for both games
for that regional semi final. Of course, let's tovill Westadawa
playing first. The homeschool get a chance to do that.
Byron Center in Northview was the night cap, and Jay,
let's go around the horn a little bit here on
the jay NHS Family Stores pregame show before we head
to our first break and let you know other action

(03:17):
will be following tonight's And isn't it interesting when you
look at the Okay White Conference combined and throwing the
River Cities and Lions in there, there's only one conference
champion left standing?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
How crazy was it? On Tuesday night?

Speaker 6 (03:29):
South Christian goes down to Division two, Rockford goes down,
Northview goes down, all conference champions Muskegan of course losing
Rock for the district final out the only one left
the OK White champion Grand Rapids Catholic Central and they're
going to be in action tonight at ground Rafts Christian
to the regional final.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Against Sparta, who beat spring Lake.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, they call it March for a reason because it's
a single elimination tournament and anything can happen and does happen.
And we were shocked with Rockford going down on Tuesday.
We were shocked with South Christian going down on Tuesday.
But these things can happen. And I'll tell you what
defense is good to play this time of year the
way Granted it's Catholic Central Guards, it's elite and that's

(04:09):
why they're still standing big favorite tonight against Sparted. But
how about the Spartans sixth place or fifth place out
of the River City's Alliance.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
It still dances and in Division two also down the
road in Battle Creek and Battle Creek Harper Creek tonight.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
How about Howland christianali Oka Black They weren't.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
The championship was Unity Christian seventeen to eight. The Maroons
taken on Marshall at nineteen and six. They had a
flu buck go through, but Titus Spencer saved the day
at a game high twenty nine points even though he
was sick, and there win on Tuesday night to get
to the regional final in Division three North Muskegon at
twenty three and one. You and I would love to
be at Kent City High School tonight seven o'clock typic
against Powama West.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
They have a.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
History meeting last year in the regional semi finals, went overtime.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
P W coming in at twenty two and three.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Then a Division four Miskegon Heights Academy taking on Fowler
seven o'clock the tip off for that one of Mount
Pleasant's Sacred Hard High School and try to christ to
the defending state champs and Mark Heeler's last year at
twenty three and two. They'll take on the Cavazoo Phoenix
at nineteen to four. But Jay for the first time
ever Trinny Christian hosting a regional.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Yeah, they got that beautiful new gymnasium. Why not?

Speaker 4 (05:13):
And you know, big matchup for them if you talk
about conference champions, they are the Alliance League Conference champions
still standing. Looking to get back to the President Center
for a sixteenth or seventeenth or eighteenth time under the
direction of Mark Keeler. They go regularly, you know, kind
of looking ahead. They could play Fowler in a state quarterfinal.
Of course, Fowler playing the Skig in Heights tonight. What

(05:34):
a run it's been for the Tigers, but that potential.
Remember one of two Trainee's two season losses this year
came to Fowler at home way back in December.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
But what a matchup at Kent City.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Adam Dugner a lot like Kean Hinkel in my opinion,
only a seen, you know, a junior version of Kean
Hinkel and going against Grady Acklin and Plumb West Philia.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
That's a great matchup.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Coming up on the Jay and h S Family Stores
pregame Show. After the break, we've.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
Got to get into the Vandaloon Home Improvement caston night's contest.
I want to hear what Jay has to say about
Hudsonville and Byron Satday. They matched up in the regular season.
Byron Center won at home by two a little over
a month ago. Sixty one fifty nine will.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Do that week.

Division one.

Speaker 6 (07:41):
Joe Erret's a third member of our crew, and I'm
glad to have you along on the road with the

Speaker 2 (07:47):
As we welcome you back, Jay, I set it up.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
For you here we go your band, a lot of
improvement keys to the contest. And I know you love
the individual matchups just like I do. But how do
you see this one when it's all said and done
being a difference either.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Well, you know they met on February fourth, that Byron
Center Bulldogs won by two. They played that game without
Bowling Green Segnee Cam Carroll, so Jayden Bowman was really
their only big He got in foul trouble. Tuesday night
they beat Northview Carroll in foul trouble. Several other Bulldogs
in foul trouble. Byron Center needs to stay out of
foul trouble tonight. As you mentioned this time of year,

(08:21):
benches are shortened. Bulldogs need their key guys on the
floor and then they need to play their game right
there quick.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
They have the guards, they want to get out and run.
They want to shoot the three.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Is that Hudsonville style two Yes, but if you're Byron Center,
you gotta play your game all right. For Hudsonville, they
need to get Joe Bon Daniels going. I mean he's
their guy. Yes, he's a junior, but huge in their
win here over Rock from a February eleventh game we
called outstanding in this tournament run as well.

Speaker 6 (08:45):
They need number one putting the ball in the bucket
and then feed off the home crowd, right.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I mean this is a capacity crowd as you would
expect at a regional final, lots of Byron Center people here.
But Hudsonville's thirteen and one on their floor this year
only lost coming way back in early December at overtime.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Er It's Christians.

the Bulldogs with a Division I regional title on the
line right here on ninety sixty one.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
The game exact, the home standing Eagles and.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Head coach Eric Elliott coming in nineteen and five overall
eight and two, good for second place behind Rockford the
ok Read this year taking on just down the road
the Bulldogs at Byron Center, coming into nineteen and six
overall eight and two in the OK Green, second place
behind the Skiing.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Yet the Rams and the Big Reds are both out.

Speaker 6 (10:07):
The Bulldogs in Hudsonville trying to continue their trek on
the road to the Blessident Center as we welcome you
back in the Bulldogs, led by head coach Joe Rodriguez
with a job He's done, is Jay mentioned earlier on
our pregame show.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
First district boys title in thirty years.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
They did it last week at Wyoming, he did at
Victio reise Kent with it a big win by five
over at Northfield.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Let's take a look their starting linaps.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
First of all, point guard Isaac Lee, a senior nine
points per game to assist. He's going on to play
Division one football at Penn. Shooting guard is Kean Hankles, senior,
their leading scorer at sixteen points per game. He's a
lefty cut of your minds you of a true Knitzel
type player to assist forty four percent shooting from behind
the arc, seventy eight percent free throw shooter.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
The guy I like, who's kind of the mister everything.
The glue guy can play defense, he can rebound his
cash spot.

Speaker 6 (10:58):
Really like his game that you ten points per game,
eighty percent free throw shooter, seven rebounds.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Either second leader rebounder power.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
Forward is Jaydon Boone, when the senior transfer beast Cat
went at eight points per game and also two rebounds.
And then the big fella in the middle, as you
mentioned Jay going to bowling Green Cam Carroll six foot nine,
fourteen points per game, seven rebounds. The Eagles are just
as good, led by junior point guard Joe bon Daniels
averaging just under sixteen points per game, he can light

(11:27):
it up from behind the ArcLight Kinkle at forty five percent,
also an eighty percent free throw shooter.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Their shooting guard really found his stride.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
According to coach Elliott, he's their glue guy in Griffin Baker,
they're starting quarterback on the football team. He's just a
winner and a senior leader. Then you've got small forward
Joey Miller. He's gonna play at Madonna University next year.
Twelve point three points per game, eighty percent free throw shooter.
The guy who's impressed this I think the most this
year has really come on as Justin Fisher.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Twelve points per game left, he can shoot it. He's
a big four rebounds.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
And then Isaiah Hamlet, the transfer coming in eleven points
per game and four rebounds. You'll have a tough matchup
tonight with Cam Carroll. Each of these teams has got
a key transfer right. Hamlet's been huge for Hudsonville. Bowman
big for Byron Center. I find it an interesting.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Landon Conrad started most of the year for Byron Center,
but now it's been Bowman here in the postseason, starting
at the four for the Bulldog.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Cam Carroll wins the tap and they're visiting black uniforms,
the orange numbers and white trim. They'll start with the
basketball as Lee brings it across the timeline left to
right on your radio down from our bandage point. You're
starting laps tonight, brought to you by Sporting You branding
your success since twenty twelve. S get past to Bowman
trying to go baseline, drawing the charge with Joey Miller
on the matchup. Hudsonville starts Manna Man, so force turnover there,

(12:43):
drawing the charge by Hudsonville.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
They'll do that defensively and they get the ball back.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Baker starts out on Lee and it's Jovon Daniels guarding Hinkle.
Remember Byron Center plays Lee on the ball most, but
they have three guys when you throw Bot and Hinkl
in there that are really good at the handle for
Byron Center.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
Interesting to watch the defensive matchup.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Good ball rotation around the perimeter.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
They can really shoot the three as a team over
forty percent for the Eagles. Coming in Daniels, the league
got a good matchup Byron Center. Man the man defense.
Carol working against Hamlet now leaves it for Baker handoff
to Daniels.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
On the right wing.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Oh, nice poke away steel by leave, but then he
stepped on the basketball and Eric Gillison I went over
him back.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
No call.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Carroll down low, skip past to Bowman. Left it short
from the right block. Good defense by Joey Miller and
he claims the defensive rebound.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Joey Miller giving up a couple inches, but his leaping
ability makes up for it.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
Now a block gonna be called against Carrol as Hamlet
tried the euro step Byron Center.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Fans don't like it.

Speaker 6 (13:42):
Keep in mind one of your keys, Cam Carroll got
to stay out of fun table.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
He did fall out of the North EDU on Tuesday night.
It didn't hurt him because there's only about two minutes left.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
And you know that Hudsonville's gonna go right at him
right because they saw that game Tuesday. They know he
didn't play in the first matchup, and there they get
an early one on Carroll's gotta be smart.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Hamlet's a good free throw shooter, but a little nerves
on both sides leaves it short on the first one.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Seventy five percent free throw shooter.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
He goes six foot eight, can also shoot thirty eight
percent behind the arc for the Big Beels. A little
picking pop game gets the second first point of the
games either way. One nothing and we've played just over
a minute here at the home of the Eagles.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Yea, I'm gonna watch the energy in this game, right,
Hudson will blowout win.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
On Tuesday, their starters didn't have to play in the
fourth quarter. Byron Center had to go all thirty two
minutes to win a war with Northview. Short turnaround. How
will that play out tonight?

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Casius bott matched up with Justin Fitcher on the right side.
Cut off.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
Now they swinging around the horn left side. Bowman gets
it back to Carrol between the rings. Big fella not
afraid to play out top. He's got a little pick
and pop game as well. Cut off by Hamlet one
to five second call, but not quite. Now back to
Lee and they'll reset.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Lee.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Good matchup here with Baker, two football players going at it.
Lee dribbles down the left side lane, kickout Bowman for three.
Not necessarily his game too strong. Tipton Hamlet blames the
rebound here comes out Bill.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Hudsonville's playing really good on defense. They're switching the screens
hadging that time.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
Good job by Hamlet, little Mischigan state weave out front
Fisher cross cord past the Baker leaves it out of
seat drives Now Hamlet for three.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
No too strong rebound Hankle. He'll bring it up himself.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
He's got point guard skills over though he technically is
the shooting guard. Because Isaac Lee at the point skips
it to Lee in the corner, whiles take Daniels pull
up jumper. No good defense by Daniels, try to get
it back to Hanko, deflect it out of Mound's last.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Touch by Baker, will state it with BC.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
You are right one nothing out of score, five fifty
left to go in the opening quarter. Is now bulldog
head coach Joe Rodriguez gonna go to the bench. And
this is a guy who stood out in the first
week in the regular season because they didn have Cam
Carroll Easton Whitchers, the junior jecks in.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
I wondered how Joe Rodriguez would play this because Whitchers
was huge in that win the first time when they
were really small. Because Bowman got in foul trouble. He's
in early looking for a spark. There comes a double team.
Nice passed by Carrol the Whitchers down low. Great job
Whicher's on the backside, realizing his guy came to help
on the double team, got right to the basket. The
Cam Carroll an underrated passer for a big Well, yeah,

(16:05):
you say Cam Carroll's going D one because he's six nine. No,
Camp Carroll's going D one because he can play. Excellent
passer out of the post. Excellent job that time by
the big fellow finding Whitchers for an easy one.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
BoNT cutting off that time Fisher, who wanted to dribble
drive now ball loose down low. Miller picks it up
and wise they just uses those broad shoulders against Whitchers,
goes up and the senior gets two.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
For the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Yeah, I think Miller's gonna have to have a big
game for Hudsonville to win the night. Dude's really good
and they need him to score, and he did it
big time. There BoNT spindribble back door cut. There's Whitcher's again,
boy right off the bench.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
Two quick buckets easton Whitchers in the leading score for
to three BCS.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
He hardly played on Tuesday, right, But it's matchups. He
was so good against Hudsonville on February fourth. He's playing
with a lot of confidence and makes his first two shots.

Speaker 6 (16:50):
Joe Van Daniels with a strong left hand, little hesitation dribbles.
He got a nice screen out top to free himself.
I love this pace, Brett. Let's keep playing up and
down like this. It's gonna be fun. That's what was
so great about the BC Northview game. We were both
here just having fun as spectators. Lee skip passing the corner.
White Chert's dribble drive beneath the basket, kicks opposite the Hinkle.
Good close out by Griffin Baker. Great matchup there with

(17:10):
his size for Baker to bother Hinkle. Now Hinkle around,
Daniels can't finish the left hand, big rebound up high
Isaiah Hamlet. Oh, we almost threw it away. Hinkle knocked
away the outlet pass. So you love the chess match, right,
Eric Elliott switches it now. Daniels was on Lee and
it was Baker on Hinkle. But they got a switch
there with the high screen. Hinkle got to the bucket

(17:31):
but couldn't finish. Five four Hudson Bills were approaching the
halfway point lost going opening corner with good defense both ways,
high screen there, Miller trying to feed or trying to
free excuse me, Joe bon Daniels. Now hamlet straw him
down the lane, takes cam Carolyn finishes on the left
hand well sixt eight Isaiah Hamley, who could shoot it

(17:51):
from the outside, showing his ability to put it on
the floor, get by the defender and get the layup.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
Big time bucket from the senior.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
He's fired up with this matchup.

Speaker 6 (17:59):
Now Carrol's spins on him too strong off the window,
tip up and gun and that's Whitcher's again. Easton Whitchers
with six Hudsonville seven, Easton Whitchers six off the bench,
the junior providing a spark mentioned sporting you with our
starting laps tonight, branding your success.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
In twenty twelve, they had.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
What you need Griffin Baker penetration nice leaving Miller with
a jam on the backside. Boy, I think he surprised
people there, but he goes about six more great athlete,
good leaping ability.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Yeah, both teams being really efficient offensively taking the ball
to the basket. Nobody's been able to get a perimeter
shot to go, but both have been really effective going
towards the ten.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
High pick and roll game. Carol cash spond drives lost
a hamm of going up. Thought he got fouled. Miller
now on the attack right at Carrol, can't finish on
the right hand half. Look get his own rebound though,
up and under and finishes.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Six for Miller. He's going right at Carrol. He knows
Carrol got the early foul. Miller being aggressive and the
home fans love it. Want to start for the Eagles.
Eleven to six over Byron Center. Joe rodd is gonna
take a time out. It's a full time out. We'll
step aside as well. Two fifty six left to go
on this opening quarter.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
You're listening to the road of the Residents Center presented
by MKD Funeralholmes.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Live here on ninety six to one. The game stocking
back here at the Home of the Eagles, Hudsonville Fieldhouse.

Speaker 6 (19:27):

Speaker 2 (19:53):
One of the owners might be in the house tonight.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
Eleven six hour score Hudsonville over Byron Center, Bulldogs of
the Basketball for the time out, Isaac lee hopstep down
the lane, a nice finish over Hamlet and remember Isaac
leed and starts going in that Northfield.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Game until the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
Well, finally somebody besides Easton Whitcher's on the score sheet
for Byron Center, but a lot of ball screens from
the Bulldogs.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I was hots uple, gonna adjust.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Miller pulls the trigger tep right in front of the
Byron Center bench and this.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Guy can flat out shoot the basketball.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
He knocks it down with the shooters touch love the
left handed stroke and Justin Fisher really having a big year.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
Yeah, he loves it when we show up.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
He was great against Rockford on February eleventh, got his
first clean look of the night, and finally somebody gets
the three to go down here late in the first quarter.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
For the season, folks, It's not like he doesn't shoot
many fifty three percent. I'm not lying from behind the arc,
knocks down his first ear Bonce get best over.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
This guy can heat up. Ekle knocks down the three
from the right wing, and here we go.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
Jay, you talked about the base fourteen to eleven as
we go into the two minute mark here in the
first That's.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
The way I love this matchup. Just high level action.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Hustble's doing everything they can to keep Hinkel from getting
touches Byron Center, still executes and gets their guy a shot.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Daniel's got to the right elbow short of the jumper.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Hinkle with a rebound, takes it himself and now drawing
some contact, little hesitation.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Dribble trying to get into the paint was number two,
and I.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Tell you what, he hasn't been highly recruited, although I
think that's changed in the second half of the season.
I know a quite has given a look, But I
tell you Key and Hankle just a flat out baller
and can shoot the basketball when he sets.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
His puppies always love to see where these guys let
him going if he ends up at an aquinas and
I think he could do some serious damage in the wat.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Can't Hinkle kick opposite bought for three?

Speaker 6 (21:34):
Noah's backcourt make too strong off the back Guyron rebound
claimed by Hudsonville and checking in for the first time
tonight down low, I should say Griffin Baker is in there.
It was Hamlet with the rebound.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Yeah, Hudsonville's yet to go to their bench. The only
non started to play so far, as White chers for
Byron center.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
Baker with a hop step left ten and swat it
out of the air to the student section by big
Cam Carroll coming over to help. I thought maybe Ostein
might have come in, but it was Hamlet's still in there,
as they like to rotate him in off the football
team as a big one. Sixteen left to go Hudsonville
the inbounds, aren't he throwing basket? Daniels stros into Hamlet
left wing. Now around the horn, Baker right side. Fisher

(22:19):
tries to drive against BoNT cut off. Good help my lee.
Now they feed it back around. Fisher thought about the
three drives.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Miller goes up.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
No, try to flush that one home and Cam Carroll
got a piece of it. Here comes Byron sent on
the clear out. I still love the aggressiveness of Miller.
Continue to go to the bucket. That one he didn't finish,
but good execution by hudson Ville. You see excuse me,
Jay going download to the big fella. Carrol double team,
can't finish, got his own rebound knocked out of bounds.
Are gonna say last touch by Baker. I like this

(22:46):
though by Joe rod Veguez. Half the time out he's saying,
let's feed the big fella. And even when they come
over the help, he's recognizing it and that backside is open.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
You talk about the betch. You know we've seen Whitchers.
I expect we'll see Landon Conrad at some point. I
would expect Byron Centator to be seven. I think hudsele
Bill will be seven as well. You talked about hosting
and then Alex Armstrong the sophomore. I would expect to
see a little bit as well.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Lee pulls up the right elbow too strong off the
back iron. Didn't have a good shooting touch. The other
night here in Hudsonville against Northview, rebound cleared by the Eagles,
and Daniels are walking across the timeline now. Eric Kelly
just gonna him pull out a little bit way out
in the left corner. Nol brings it to the middle
between the rings. Twenty three seconds left to go, opening quarter.
Derek Kelly, it's gotta be happy with what he's seen.

(23:26):
So farther up three fourteen to eleven. Isaac Lee just
gonna let him dribble out there.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Yeah, Lee's on.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Daniels did a great job on Swarts on Tuesday. Two
points for Daniel so.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
Far comes to ice scream with Hamlet good help by
Cam carolln I'll stole them by Lease so good with
his hands, bounce past ahead White Chers with a finish
puts it up an inn easton White Chers before the buzzer,
and we've got a one point game after one.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
How about White Chers leading the way for.

Speaker 6 (23:53):
BC off the bench with eight points after eight minutes
of player this Division one Regional final on the road
to the bus Center.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
It's Hudsonville fourteen Byron Center thirteen.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
You're listening to all the action line presented by MKD
Feuderal Homes right here on ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Welcome back to Hutsville Fieldhouse.

Speaker 6 (24:20):
Brett mcdida along with Jason Nutting fourteen thirteen Eagles to
start the second quarter up one after one, back toor
Cutt Miller, Oh Black from mahond and all they're gonna
get a whistle. Joe Rodriguez can't believe it. Easton Whitcher
has thought it was clean against Miller.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
Joe Rodriguez is not happy with my guy, TJ. Restyle.
TJ is the best. He's a great official.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
A lot of Byron Center fans that paid to get
in did not think that was a foul, but Hudsonville
gets the call. I want to go back to that
last play right before the end of the first quarter.
You know, ball screens are where we're at basketball. Everybody's
doing ball screens, right. I think trapping the ball screen
is incredibly underrated. Byron Center trapped Daniels on the high
ball screen. They got to turn over a lamp out
of it.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Be interesting to see how they continue to adjust to
those ball screens.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
Isn't it amazing that we saw it against the athletes
in Northfield two? How good Isaac Lee is not only
getting deflections like a defensive back, and how he reads
the game. But did you see how he just snatched
that one out of the ear point blank rains, I mean,
unbelievable hands. That's why he's gonna be a D one
wide receiver at Pennsylvania.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
You weren't there Bright but week eight when they hosted
Miskeg and he made a one handed catch on the
near sideline.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
I mean, one of the better catches I've ever seen, right, unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
First free throw up and good by the senior. Joey
Miller headed to Madonna next year. Second one up and
good Just a gamer, four year program guy for Eric Elliott,
and every year his role got more and more. And
what he could do defensive stopper, rebounder, score, you name it.
Number fourteen can do it for Huntsonville sixteen thirteen. By

(25:51):
the way, he's got eight to lead the Eagles that
are on the floor. Ankle in the corner, cut off
by Daniels Baker helping him back out to Lee right wing.
He'll dribble it back out, doesn't use the pick with
Carrol hops around Miller, but it rolls out. Great move
by Lee, but he couldn't finish. Rebound clear by Hudson
hook come the Eagles flying up the left side, Baker
reverse to Daniels in the Miller into Miller, kickout Griffin,

(26:13):
Baker for three.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
No Hinkle with the long Carol, you.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
Know that last Byron Center possession, incredible body controlled by
Isaac Leeaman.

Speaker 5 (26:21):
Hudsonville's waiting to try to take a charge.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
He didn't even make any contact out of great look,
just couldn't quite finish. He's an unbelievable athlete, one of
the best to wear the origin black in any sport.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
For BC.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
Hinkle on the back door cut, dribbling on to traffic
there Cam Carroll got to him a little late. Carrol
has it now right wing, working against Hamlet, tries to
back him down, gets to the right block, kicks opposite deflected.
He saw Miller coming over out of the corner of
his eye, but Daniel's got a hand on that one,
trying to get it to Whitchers. So Byron Center will
inbounds far sideline, right in front of Hudsonville bench.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
And here is their.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Defensive stopper and a guy who can do a lot
of different things for you, landing Conrad the senior. And
like you said, Jay, they used Whitress and Conrad Deepen
on the matchup of who they wanted to guard.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Both so good and Whitcher's getting that first call to night.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
But Conrad will come in and he's got that football
tough mentality as well.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Tough to take Whitcher's out right, but he's not used
to playing a ton of minutes, so probably needs a
quick break here.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
Conrad has been a starter most of the season for
Byron Center.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
Hankling, BoNT and I still by Daniels stealing to pass
in to bomp back the other way, unable to finish
with Fisher on the left side, now tipped out, Henkl
tips it away from Daniels.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
They got numbers three on two.

Speaker 6 (27:29):
Hinkle behind the back trying to free himself, leaves it
for BoNT, who's got unlimited range. Doesn't pull the trigger
against Miller. Now watch the drive, kicks it over.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Hinko for three. Got it BoNT and Hinkle the two
man game.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
And how about Key and Hankle. What a third quarter
he had against Northfield when he led.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Him with thirteen Yeah, finished with twenty two, had eleven
straight at one point for Byron Center.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
He's almost automatic when he's open. Speaking of automatic.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
I was gonna say, justin Fisher with a deep three
from the left wing. Two triples already for Fisher, and
we've seen him at BIGS. You mentioned that win here
at home that we covered against Rockford.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
If something was shooting with that left hand, I got
to learn to shoot left hand and they all go in.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
Drew Knights will tell you that's the smoothie sexy way
left hand. Nineteen sixteen Hudsonville with BC Conrad sets a
screen Hankle camp for himself.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Good defense by Daniels.

Speaker 6 (28:18):
That's one of the areas he's worked on as he's
gotten bigger and stronger. Trying to check these guards in
West Michigan. Lee now jibbling right side, cut off by
Fisher out top Carroll. Carroll spins in the paint, force
that one up. Good defense by Hamlet and Hamlet comes
down with the rebound.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Really tough shot.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Isaiah Hamlet outstanding guarding Cam Carroll. And we saw Carrol
effected with that move against Northview, but Hamlet stood his ground,
played great defense.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
Now Hamlet tries to do the same, and they're gonna
get hank O with the reach in and the hand
of the.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Cookie jar Joe Rodriguez the same. Please just call it
the other way.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
But I think that one was more of a foul
than the other one that we saw on the block
from behind by White Chers got a little bit of
the wrist.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
There still not a.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Shooting foul, not nearly as many fouls called in this
game as he saw in the Northview game against Byron
Center on Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
Remember, five in a quarter puts you in the bonus.
Second one for Byron Center, you have to file. The
second quarter Hudsonville Fisher for three from the left side,
no where he just hit one moments ago. Battle for
the rebound. The first sump is in for Hudsonville, unable
to corral it. Alex Armstrong now up ahead, Bond to
leave for three left side, no off the front rim
nice rebound. Comrade out to Hankle for three. Yes in

(29:25):
a file chance at a four point play Chi and Ankle.
They don't want him to heat up, but he's starting
to hear in the second quarter.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
That's just too easy for him. I mean, if you
give him space, he's not gonna miss.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
But that's out the offensive rebound landing Conrad keeps it alive.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Kicks it out to Ankle, and you just said what
I was gonna talk about. His teammates know to get
him the ball.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
He can get hot.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
How about the assist.

Speaker 6 (29:48):
Off that rebound like you mentioned by Conrade, Well, how
about the four position right bowman goes out early, has
a foul.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
You got Whitcher's off the bench with eight in the
first quarter. Now Conrad bringing energy as well.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
And as good as Hudsonville can. Thank you from the
Charity straight as a team.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Byron Center pretty good the other night, by the way,
in his seventeen points for he was eleven of eleven
from the free throw line against Northfield.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Hanker with seven of his ten in this corner. Byron
Center has the lead for the first time tonight.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Four point play for Hankel knocking down the free throw.
Daniels wants to answer, hits the top of the backboard.
Still in play from the left corner. Hankle with the
rebound again, Hankel driving down the right side, cut off
by Fisher. Now at the free throw line. The little
runner left it short. Good defense by Fisher. Here gules
a rebound outlet to Daniels.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
You know he Hankles dangerous passing the ball in that situation,
Hudsonville's doing a nice job of taking away the passing
lanes forcing him to shoot.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Hamlet strong move between the legs, dribble down the right side,
can't finish off the window over Carroll, but does draw
the contact and that's Cam Carroll's second.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
They actually called landon Connor and I thought it was
as second as well.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
So a break for Byron Center, third file this quarter
for BC. One for Hudsonville, but it was in the
active shooting. So the senior transfer Isaiah Hamlet, all six
foot eight of them at the free throw line. He's
been fired up since the pregame shoot around. Number forty
two knocks down the first.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
Well, think about Isaiah Hamler. It was a homeschool last year.
I mean, playing an atmosphere like this, he's got to
be loving.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
Don't forget to stay with us for the Holt Jepson
Physical Therapy halftime show and we've got a special guest,
Scott Davrees, one of the physical therapists and COO of
Hulst Jepson Physical Therapy, had a chance to catch up
with him. One of our sponsors Spotlight Interviews that's coming
up along with our individual scoring summary by MKD. Funeral
Holmes says, Handlet hits him both. Hutsonville regains the lead
by one, twenty one to twenty. As we're at the

(31:35):
halfway point here in the second quarter, Hinkle all the
way around with a dribble.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
No on the runner, too strong Handlet again with the rebound.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
Hamlet's playing well.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
They're getting Hinkle even though he's left handed going left,
hasn't been able to convert that little runner again, Hutsville
taking away the passing options.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
Pinkl's so good at getting the lane and finding his teammates.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Look at Hamley, he watched the ball.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
Daniels now benetrates skip pass out and threw the hands
of Alex Armstrong just took his eye off the right wing.
Unforced turnover against Hudsonville, so BC gets it back.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Yeah, both teams have taken care of the basketball the night.
Turnovers have not been an issue. But that's a tough
break for the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (32:11):
Joey Miller, you mentioned leadia score for Hudsonville out of
the floor with eight, Hinkle with ten to lead BC
twenty one to twenty Hudsonville by one three point thirty
in Dickie left to go first half, Hinkle off the
high screen from Bot. It works so well together, good
defense by Armstrong, Hinkle trying to get around them.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Now they're gonna get Armstrong a.

Speaker 6 (32:27):
Little too aggressive with the block, and Eric Elliotts saying, hey,
I love it, but just give him a.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Little bit of rude. You don't have to ride them
that far out.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
Yeah, So Hudsonville was hedging early there.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
Now they're just switching on that high ball screen and
Byron Center got a match up they liked with Armstrong
on Hinkle and the sophomore is gonna come out of
the game for the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (32:45):
Boy, how short of these benches we knew it would be.
I mean basically six seven is it?

Speaker 5 (32:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (32:49):
We haven't even seen oasting yet. Yeah, just six right
now for Hudsonville.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Oh, nice back door cut.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
Can't Carol off the inbounds and one they fall Lee
after he made the up and under.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
But a good pass by Cam Carroll on a.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Set play Joe Rodriguez on the inbounds and the mark
of a well coach team.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Really good baseline out of bounds to play that time
by Byron Center got Lee a good luck underneath, he's
got a chance at a three point play.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
How about the senior class for Byron Center.

Speaker 6 (33:15):
You know, we talked to Joe Rodriguez if you missed
it in our LMC basketball blitch show leading into our
coverage tonight is league and berts a three point playing
knocks it down. And we talked about the football team.
He's got some football players and how they just start slow.
He also reminded us the boys soccer team made it
all the way to the finals. He's got some soccer
players on the roster. So just all around good athletes
for this special year for the BC Bulldogs and their

(33:36):
basketball team got a piece of it and out Daniel's
great job to save the phosession knocked it off of Lee,
but Lee with those quick ants almost got another steel.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Jay Winning's contagious pratt, you know, I mean they had
that great fall. It sets the tone, and you know
Byron Center has a bunch of winners.

Speaker 6 (33:54):
The basketball program has not been to this stage in
a really, really long time, but these guys have turned
it around for the Bulldog fans. Gotta be careful here tonight.
They're getting a little bit into it there. I think
they kind of threw it back to the official hard
after the call against him.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Now the triple by Hamlet over Cam Carroll. Look at
Isaiah Hamlet.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
He's firing up the student section and he's been on fire.
I told you the big Fela can shoot, soaking Camp
Carroll for.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
BC eight for Hamlet and it hits.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
The three can play inside outside, playing great eyed defense.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
He's been huge for the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
Now cashis BoNT on a wild play, just threw it
away trying to get it to Hanko Don Low Miller,
who might have got away with the travels shuffling the
feat kicks out to Joe Bond Daniels for three. No,
can't dial it up. He's been kind of quiet tonight.
Rebound Cam Carroll well.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Obviously the emphasis of the Byron center defense is to
guard number one. That's the first time all night he's
had a clean look at a three. Couldn't convert. But
he's kind of out of rhythm because he hasn't had
a lot of looks tonight.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
That last triple by Hamlet gave the Eagles a lead
back by one twenty four to twenty three.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Now leaves step back three.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
No halfway down, popped out BoNT battling with Miller on
the rebound. Miller taps it out and Griffin Baker's got it.
Hands off to Joe Bon Daniels, who brings it up
the left sideline across the timeline now leaves it for Hamlet.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Swing left side Miller extra pass left wing to Baker.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
Baker trying to body a pinkle down low skip opposite
Daniels out to Fisher. Good exterior defense by Byron center
Eagles trying to extend them out. Now they clear out
for Hamlet, can't finish over Carol. Carol with a rebound,
here come the bulldogs want to push Bot in transition,
Bot down the lane with the left hand goes up. No,
bothered by Miller came over to help Carol, though, cleans

(35:26):
it up on.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
The offensive glass cam Carroll given BC the leads twenty
five to twenty four. And now what do we have?

Speaker 4 (35:33):
Looks like we have a tech on Lana Conrad. I
didn't see it, but the right in front of the
Hutsonville student section. He must have said something.

Speaker 6 (35:40):
Yeah, emotions are starting to run high. Hamlet's been talking
a little bit. Now you get Conrad of the foul,
and this is a veteran crew. I'd like to see
them go over and talk to both coaches just kind
of calm their players down. We had the issue too
with someone in the front row of the spectators. Now,
Brady Lake, the athletic director, come over from BC because
the offishal was talking to somebody from Byron Center. And

(36:03):
again it was after the call went against BC. We
don't know what happened. We're just above it.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
But Joe von.

Speaker 6 (36:08):
Daniels now shooting the free throws with the technical for Hudsonville,
hits the first CAMMC.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Carroll's I mean he's he's so active, right, he had
the early foul, he's battle fouled, trouble on the defensive end,
I mean he is, he is contesting shots, he is
walking on a tight rope and picking up that second file.
Then on the other end, offensive rebound put back. I mean,
this dude came to play tonight.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I believe that's Joe von Daniels.

Speaker 6 (36:33):
Just third point, he split the Perry's eighty percent free
throw shooter, So I like what Eric Ellies. Dude, He's
got a lot of different percent free throw shooters. I
think he was doing that for Daniel's confidence, to have
him watch the ball go through the hoop in a
situation like a free throw.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Well, and that technical follow was Lanta Conrad second. So
he comes out white chers back in after that hot start.

Speaker 6 (36:52):
Oh, now with steel Isaac Leady picking the pocket of
Daniels finished the other way too strong the left Tan Carroll.
The rebound goes up No, but he's fouled by Hamlet,
but again started with a steal on the defensive number three,
Isaac Lee.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
So we know that the winner of this game Bratt
is going to move to the quarterfinal, which is currently
scheduled for Caledonia. They'll play the winner of Carmen Aines
withth and Marquette currently all Cavaliers thirty three to nineteen
in the second quarter up at Gaalor. Of course, Karmen
anes Worth put Rockford out on Tuesday in overtime.

Speaker 6 (37:21):
Yeah, it's Saint John's High School sixty four sixty to
o t after Rockford Sky High. With that district championship
win over Miskegan that we covered last finda nine.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Carroll, by the way, gets the first BC regains the
lead and now Jaydon Bowman has been the guy who's
been on the bench for a while. He's going to
come in.

Speaker 6 (37:36):
Whiters will go out at the one twenty one mark
second free throw out coming for Carol twenty six to
twenty five Bulldowks two for two. Is Carol having a
nice game, he had ten against norfew.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
He's got four points, but it doesn't tell the story.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
I mean the way he's playing on both ends of
the court, yep, only has the one foul, has not
back down any after that early foul. It's been really
good rebounding the basketball and defending.

Speaker 6 (38:01):
Now Miller stepped back three and Bowman just kind of
lost him that time in transition after a screen and
Miller buries it right in front of the Bulldogs bench.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Yeah, Joey Miller is a big time player for them.
He average is just over twelve a game, already eleven
in this one. And I think that's what Eric Ellet
wanted to see.

Speaker 6 (38:17):
Cam Carroll with the answer, we told you the Biggs
can shoot it over Hamlet.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
I love that matchup.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
To me, that's been the most intriguing, along with Daniels
in lead tonight is Carol and Hamlet going at it.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Wow, this was just living up too. We're not a
halftime yet, but it's been back and forth. Great battle,
two great teams. It's been a lot of fun to watch.

Speaker 6 (38:35):
Oh and now a nice play by Carol on the
block against Hamlet. And then it was Jaydon Bowman saving
it before it went out of bounce off a Hamlet.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
It'll be BC basketball.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
And a little offense for defense.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Bowman outstanding at the defensive end and a great play
there to save a possession.

Speaker 5 (38:50):
We'll have Whitchers come in for him as Byron center,
likely playing for the final shot.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
Yeah, little offense right there, defense going out in. Bowman
put Whicher's back in it with a hot hand. Final possession.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
It looks like.

Speaker 6 (39:01):
Maybe the half thirty twenty eight BC by two Whitchers
with a screen ole. He was opened on the back
door cup but Carol missed him. Good recovery by Miller.
Is such a good defender. Now BoNT who's been quiet
in this one tonight after seventeen to help lead the
way against North view of that victory, Cam Carroll picked
up his dribble, needs help, hands him back off to Hanko.
Reset between the circles. Now hesitation dribble stripped by Daniels.

(39:23):
He went down the lane. Now Daniels comes up with
a steal up Ed Miller got a hurry. They won't
get it off, and that's the way the first half ends.
It was a one point game Hudsonville fourteen thirteen after one.
It's a two point game at the half in favor
of the Bulldogs. At Byron Center, thirty twenty eight over Hudsonville.
Stay with us the host Jepson Physical Therapy halftime show

in high school hoops tonight, Catholic Central leading Sparta in
a regional final matchup thirty five to fifteen in the
third quarter. And of course our LMCU Game of the

(40:42):
Week live at Hudsonville High School Byron Center, leading Hudsonville
thirty to twenty eight at the half. Let's head back
not courtside, but up above Hudsonville High School with Brebe
Gita and Jason Hutton.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
All right, thank you, Joelle, appreciate that.

Speaker 6 (40:56):
Just underway to start the second half, we'll giving the
individual scoring summary for both teams in that first half,
brought to you by m Kitty if funerals.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
When we get a chance here Byron Center, starting.

Speaker 6 (41:04):
With the basketball, moving right to left, Dyer Radio down
man a man pressure defense by the Eagles, we'll give
you the sporting you second half, starting laps we'll get
a chance. Gosh, this Bond has it out top between
the rings guarded by Fisher. That's been a good matchup
in favor of Fisher. Bond has been quiet tonight, Skip
past to Hinkle. Hank O had a big second quarter
but knocked away from behind by Daniels. Now he's got
numbers two on one. Visited the Fisher down the left side.

(41:25):
He puts it up an in good control that time.
Pump bait got bought up in the air and then
a nice finished by Justin Fisher.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
Excellent job by Fisher, Joey Miller. That all scores in
that first half of eleven for Hudsonville. They had eight
points from Isaiah Hamlet, six from Fisher. Fisher now with
eight with that Duce Javon Daniels with three. Byron Center
also had four scorers.

Speaker 6 (41:45):
Cam Carroll with a turnaround jumper and that was pretty.
Hamlet was in his face, but he's starting to feel it.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
He's got nine.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
Keyan Hinkle had ten to lead Byron Center. Easton Whitchers
eight off the bench, all in the first quarter. Carrol
had seven in the first half, now has nine with
that too with five round out the Byron Center scorers first.

Speaker 6 (42:02):
Half individual scoring. Something he brought to you by NKD.
Funer Holmes, every story, every moment, every day. Now wait
location to serve you their newest right here down the
Road from Hudsonville in downtown Jamestown on Riley Street.

Speaker 4 (42:14):
I would say second half key for Hudsonvilles to get
Javon Daniels going Byron Centers guarden him really well with
Isaac Lee. They got to try to run some screens away.

Speaker 6 (42:20):
From the ball to get him some looks Hamlet for
three feeling it in and out. He played well in
that first half of the battle with Cam Carroll. Who's
got it now in the front court after the rebound
by bc hnkle off the mark from the front rim,
run down by Justin Fisher, hands off to Joe Bon
Daniels thirty two to thirty Daniels gonna pull the trigger.
Gotta guard him while he was late coming off, and
Daniels made him pay with three.

Speaker 5 (42:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
And I'd say Byron Center key to the second half
is to continue to defend Daniels the way they did
that time off the long miss on the three transition
bucket for Daniels. Excellent job by the junior finding a
little gap and hitting a shot.

Speaker 6 (42:56):
Our keys to the second half is we watch him
with Jay brought to you by Vandalon Home Improvement. Don't
forget that Traverse City location up north. If we've got
a cottage up there by forty eight left to go
into third. Has one's been tight all the way through?
A one point game after the first, a two point
game at the half, and now Bowman's tribbling Donald Lane

(43:16):
not instillly his game block from behind by Miller.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Fisher comes out of there with it.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
Great defensive play by Miller. He's given up a few
inches to Bowman, but made up for it there with
the leap. Excellent play by the senior Griffin.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Baker doesn't hesitate pulling the trigger from three right corner.

Speaker 6 (43:31):
He can't dialand up rebound Cam Carroll, and now Miller
and Bowman get tangled up. Miller hits the deck as
Carroll brings it across the timeline, hand off to Bot
trying to spin quickness of.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Joe BoNT Daniels. He's a second leading.

Speaker 6 (43:46):
In the category of steels for Hudsonville, and now a
time balls he hit the deck, he is trying to
get it to a teammate tied up by Carrol because
Essanio will go for Hudsonville. But that's a few times
tonight we've talked about the quickness of Lee. How about
the hands of Joe Bon Daniels tonight.

Speaker 4 (43:59):
Daniels has been out standing on defense all the way around.
I was gonna say, both teams have gone man to
man the entire game, and I know that's what they
hang their hat on. Byron Center threw a little zone
at Northview on Tuesday. It was not effective. They quickly
came out of it.

Speaker 6 (44:12):
I'm a little surprised we haven't just seated a little
bit from Byron Center, and maybe we will. Here in
the second half, Fisher round the horn to Hamlet, right corner,
doll back skip pass to Daniels composite left side, right
in front of the Eagles bench.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
In student section. He it's another three. That's his second
of the third quarter.

Speaker 5 (44:27):
Well, he did not have a three made the entire
first half. In fact, he only took one.

Speaker 4 (44:31):
He's already gotten two locks and cash down on both
of them here in this third quarter. Exactly what Eric
Elliott I'm sure drew up at halftime.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
Cam Carroll step back three. That's short. Good job by Hamlet,
rebound Fisher. They've got numbers.

Speaker 6 (44:43):
Momentarily, Fisher skip pass over Baker stepping into a three, Yes,
Ronald's at home and here come the Eagles. Even Eric
Kelly had fired up because he knows how important Griffin
Baker is if they can add him to the mix,
and that's gonna force a BC timeout. The lead has
grown to seven, the biggest for either team tonight, and
with four to twenty six left to go on the

(45:04):
third full timeout will step aside as well.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
You're listening to the Road of the Pleasing.

Speaker 6 (45:08):
Center presented by MKD Funeral Homes right here on ninety
six to one.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
You know, joeyar for Dawn. Rapid Radio Scoreboard updated a half.

Speaker 6 (45:20):
One of our great sponsors new this year with the

Speaker 6 (45:39):
And right now, the best run we've seen from either
team tonight, the Hudson Illegals on it.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
They lead by seventh.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Well, they have eleven points in this third quarter, nine
of them in transition. If you're Byron Center, you have
got to get back in transition.

Speaker 5 (45:51):
They have not done that.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
How about a role reversal. This is what Byron Center
did to Hudsonville on two or the Northfield Tuesday. They
were behind it the half hit, the third quarter run
on the back of Heinkel, and now the rules have
been reversed.

Speaker 6 (46:01):
Tonight, Cam Carroll spinning from traffic, little out of control,
but Bowman, as he always does, cuts to the basket.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Carol finds him for the easy land on the back side.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
Another great pass from Cam and Carroll a complete player.
We've seen him pass the ball well tonight. That was
an excellent find and a great cut by Bowman.

Speaker 6 (46:18):
Fisher can't finish with the left hand. His strong hand
tapped out of bounds. Last touch by Cam Carrell. I
know you thought Cam Carroll had his moments and played
well against Northfield. I think he's played better here tonight,
and he's facing a six to eight player in Hamlet.

Speaker 4 (46:30):
So what you expect that of her senior who's going
to the MAC. I mean I thought he played well
on Tuesday, playing at a high level here tonight. Bynston's
gonna need him down five, Lee and Daniels.

Speaker 6 (46:38):
The matchup again right in front of us right wing
Joe Bon Daniels stepping away, skip pass over to Baker.
Just hit that big three who almost got to rip
by Isaac Lee. Gotta be careful when number three's in
the area. Now it's Miller over to Fisher, over to Baker.
That's airball off the mark, good box out and how
we're gonna have a hole by Bowman or no?

Speaker 7 (46:55):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Miller? Miller went flying out. He thought he got held.

Speaker 6 (47:00):
Derek Elliot doesn't understand, but they're gonna get Miller with
the hold in the grab.

Speaker 5 (47:04):
I'm with you, brat.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
I thought that one was gonna go against Bowman. Yeah,
but that's not the way it goes Byron Center gets the.

Speaker 6 (47:11):
Ball and the only thing I could think of, and
Eric Elliott didn't give too much of a fuss there
after they explained it to him, is it looked worse
because Andy Miller.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
Was falling out of bounds that he grabbed him. And
that's what the official call.

Speaker 4 (47:23):
And certainly you and I weren't watching them away from
the ball when it happened. DJ Restol right on top
of it. He's an excellent.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
Official Joey Miller.

Speaker 6 (47:29):
By the way, the senior number fourteen Camp Carroll now
script by Fisher and that's gonna be Carol.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
Yeah, with a grab.

Speaker 6 (47:35):
He doesn't like the call, but it's the right call. Yep,
I agree because he got it knocked away. Fisher was
going to beat him to the spot and he had
to grab his shoulder and Carol picks up his second.
You mentioned it, Jay, it's key here. No real foul
trouble Conrad because the technical had two. But he hasn't
played even Conrad minutes tonight because of the switch with Whitchers.

Speaker 5 (47:55):
How long will we see? How long it would before
we see Whitchers.

Speaker 4 (47:58):
Here's Byron Center is behind and he's been a smart
for them both times they played Hudsonville, Oh.

Speaker 6 (48:02):
Coming off a screen, Joey Miller had a good look.
Left it short, Hamlet says it but to Carroll and
BC if they take advantage, has numbers right now five
on four Lee flying down the lane, pull up jumper
too strong.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
Carroll trying to grab it and almost looked.

Speaker 6 (48:16):
Like he was gonna try and throw it down, but
he was too far away, losing out of bounds when
he Hudson go basketball.

Speaker 11 (48:21):
Ye.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
Both teams have.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
Played great defense man to man tonight, but they're both
gambling and they're both succeeding a lot on these gambles.
There's been a lot of steals going both ways with
Lee and Daniels, and then we thow Fisher that last trip.

Speaker 6 (48:32):
I want to go back to a key that you
and I talked about that I'm kind of seeing right
now again. Either team going real deep. So there's some
winded guys out there. Handled a nice spin and then
Baker over the top. What are they going to call
against Ankle? They called Baker, Yeah, I think they're to
get Yeah, Griffin Baker was on Hankle's back with the
box out.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
Eric Kelly doesn't like to call there are you seeing
something here?

Speaker 5 (48:52):
Jay?

Speaker 6 (48:53):
With Lee and the speed they have, I think Byron
Center might be better off pushing the tempo here a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
That's make hudson will get up and down.

Speaker 5 (49:01):
That's their game and certainly when they have the opportunity
that will.

Speaker 4 (49:04):
Hudsonville has done a good job getting back three fouls
now on Griffin Baker. So we see Alex Armstrong with
sophomore checking back in and that might.

Speaker 6 (49:12):
Be key because Griffin Baker was give him a little
lift there hit that three good defender, good rebounder, cash
just spont now working against Fisher Boy Bond has been
shut down and almost drew it away, almost a step
in steel by Joe Bond. Daniels's inkle went flying and
finally Bowman had to pick it up near the timeline.
Thirty nine, thirty four lead a spine by the Eagles.
Isaac Lee draws a double team kick out to Carroll

(49:33):
Carrol's spinning nowhere to go. Good defense that time by
Armstrong Bowman. Now at the free throw line, cut off
by Miller. Good defense by the Eagles came. Carroll tried
to step through nothing there and puts it down. A
block going to be called against Joey Miller. And I
don't know what kind of happened there because Cam Carroll

(49:53):
lost the ball, dribbled it again, Hudsonville saying double dribble.
But I started it knocked away. Oh wow, they're gonna
count the bucket. Eric Kellyot's gonna lose it over there.
He can't believe it. I didn't, I didn't watch it.
I guess I was focusing more on the phone. Who's
gonna be calling it whether it went in or not.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
It went in.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
It definitely went in. The question was and what happened
before the shot. I thought it was a good call
on the block. I'm a big block guy. I'm not
a fan of the charge. I thought it was a
good call.

Speaker 6 (50:27):
In terms of continuation, I'm not I'm not sure on
that one, but that seemed a little long as far
as allowing the play to go. The officials got together,
they did the right thing and talked about it and conferred.
Carol missed a free throwed over to long Caram and
scrambled for the rebound. The Bulldogs dig it out boy
A three would tie at thirty nine thirty six.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
Carol Watson on the block. They got the smaller Miller
on him.

Speaker 6 (50:48):
They got handled over on Whitchers who just checked in
working against Fisher. Nice crossover bond strong hangs in the earth,
goes through it to the other side. No left had
short rebound Miller outlet Daniels. Daniels wants to run up
ahead Hamlet power trouble goes up and finishes over Cam Carroll.
Nice job of the left hand and the quick Eric
Elliott time out after the make.

Speaker 4 (51:10):
Boy a big stretch there, and I was gonna say
this was a big last two minutes. Byron Center trying
to hang around Hudsonville, maybe an opportunity to put a
little distance between themselves and the Bulldogs. And Byron Center
gets a call, the continuation, doesn't make the free throw,
but they get offensive rebound, but an empty possession. Didn't
score after that, and Hudsonville turns it into a bucket.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
Thirty second time out by Hudsonville. We'll keep it right here.
Remind you.

Speaker 6 (51:34):
This third quarter being brought to you by Kids' Mood Basket,
our official nonprofit for the LMCU high school basketball game
of the Week this season, third season in a row
and every three pointer may during the regular season Lake
Michigan Credit You give me a fifty dollars donation, folks.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
We total it up in ten games, forty eight hundred.

Speaker 6 (51:53):
Dollars for the basketball season, donated by our local West
Michigan Lake Michigan Credit Unions. Thank you so much to
Kids' Food Basket. And with the six thousand plus we
raised for football with our touchdowns for kids get paid,
we were just around eleven thousand dollars and with that
new expansion out Muskegan. Thank you so much helping us

(52:14):
nourish local kids to reach their football intention like we're
seeing here tonight in front of a packed house. Forty
three hundred, forty one thirty six Hudsonville over BC one
twenty six left to go after the time out the
third BoNT between the rings, nowhere to go. Miller now
draws the Assimon to him, skip passed over to Hinkle,
right wing to Bot fake the three Bot working against Miller,

(52:34):
skip pass over Lee too strong off the heel rebound.
Miller had good position on the defensive board against BoNT.

Speaker 5 (52:41):
Yeah, really good play by Bot that time to get
Lee a good shot. That one just didn't go.

Speaker 4 (52:44):
But Hudsonville solid on the defensive rebound that time, holding
Byron Senator to one opportunity.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Joe von Daniels coming over a high Miller screen at
the top of the key. Nowhere to go.

Speaker 6 (52:53):
Fisher to Hamlet tripling down low on the right block,
but couldn't spin on Caro. Now they'll reset back out
to day Knows and Eric Ela say we're fine, let's
just take some time here.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
We're up five and counting.

Speaker 6 (53:05):
Down forty five seconds left to go in the third quarter,
they're here at home.

Speaker 4 (53:09):
Armstrong Wighters got switched out on On Daniels and with
Hudsonville playing slow here Byron Center was able to switch
it back to Hinkle. But now a screen from Alex
Armstrong and it's back to Daniels against Waiters. Why hudson
b all want to exploit this matchup, but they're just
gonna dribble.

Speaker 6 (53:23):
It out well, and Hinkle's coming over to help because
he realizes he's got Armstrong, and the Hudsonville coaches da
have telling Armstrong stay down in the corner, make Kinkle
have to guard you farther away. So we can't provide
help because you know what's gonna be. Daniel's gonna take
the final shot down to thirteen.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
I don't love dribbling out the entire last minute of
a Quarter's why we need a chockrup. But also it
generally does not lead to a good shot. We'll see
if Hudsonville can do it.

Speaker 6 (53:45):
Daniels wants to go skip passed over to Miller for three.
No off the back guy, and that's the way the
third quarter will end. Armstrong was trying to corral it
but ran out of time. What a ball game here
we head to the final eight minutes. Division one Reagion
championship on the line. Who's it gonna beat from West
Michigan Hudsonville forty one Byron Center, thirty six will come

(54:07):
back with a fourth quarter after this on ninety six
to one.

Speaker 2 (54:10):
The game.

Speaker 6 (54:16):
Back here Leftonville build House finally minutes coming up in
regulations Brett the Kata, Jaseon Hutt, Joe Aaron back on
the controls and Downtown Grand Rapids for ninety six to one.
The games Studios forty one thirty six Hutsonville by five
Byron Center with the basketball moving right to left.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
Syronson only had six points in that third quarter. Breton
Keene Heagel didn't take a single shot. The Bulldogs have
to get number two a look bo Ali you but
oh Carroll couldn't get it behind his head. He wanted
to bring that down with a thunder dunk rebound. Joe
Bon Daniels, Wow, Hutsonville Dodgers is a buller. There looked
like it would be an easy too, and just right
through the hands of Carroll.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
We'll tell you a minute when I get a chance.

Speaker 6 (54:50):
How tight this game has been team scoring wise, quarter
by quarter, Whitter's down, Logan's handlet draws a double team.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
Now Miller blocked by camp Carroll to the outlet.

Speaker 6 (54:59):
Here's Isaac Lee down the right side, kick back out
deep three, bought in and out battle for the rebound.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
Body's flying.

Speaker 6 (55:06):
Carroll's got it down low, puts it up and in
good hands by the big fella Camp Carroll.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
Going to Bowling Green next year.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
Well, you and I talked in the break Byron Center's
gotta get out and run because then they're struggling in
the half court. There was an opportunity. Hutsbal's doing just
such a good job. Bred to getting back. But again
Carol the big fella at the offensive rebound.

Speaker 6 (55:23):
In the second chance kick out to Miller left corner
out dribble drive, steps through like a running back and
finishes on the other side of the rim on the
right side.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Big time moved that time.

Speaker 4 (55:32):
By the senior Joey Miller his first points in the
second half after he got eleven in the first.

Speaker 6 (55:36):
An excellent take, but went baseline. Tried to feed White's
down the lanes Toole of my Miller. Miller now against Lee?
Oh and a block gonna be called against Isaac Lee.
BC fans thought Miller kind of lowered the shoulder a
little bit, But Joey Miller draws the contact.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
H will go to the charity strike.

Speaker 4 (55:53):
You're never gonna hear me complain about a block call.
I'm not a fan of the charge, so I'm good
with it. It did look like Miller lowered the shoulder
right in the least chest, but I'm always good with the.

Speaker 5 (56:02):
Black holl always good one.

Speaker 6 (56:03):
My thing is in a situation like that is who
starts the contact right? And That's what I was looking
at with Miller. I thought he initiated the contact clearly
there can but again was Isaac Lee movie or not?
First free throw up? And good bye Joey Miller. Hey,
by the way, we're looking for tonight's wing. Doozy fan
of the game twenty five dollars gift card best Wings.
I had some last weekend, so good in West Michigan.

(56:26):
Is Miller missing the second off the front battle.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
For the rebound?

Speaker 6 (56:29):
Nice job by Armstrong and he hits an off of
BoNT good hustle play by Alex Armstrong, to keep the
possession to our right in favor of the Eagles.

Speaker 12 (56:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (56:37):
Big minutes from the sophomore. We saw Griffin Baker go
to the bench with three files. In the third quarter
of Alex Armstrong has been really good defensively and now
keeping alive the miss from the free throw and gets
his team in extra possession.

Speaker 6 (56:50):
Forty four to thirty eight, Eagles by six. Daniels the mbounds,
aren't he throwing basket? Nice job to Armstrong down the
lane of the feed by Miller. No tapped out of
there and Bot runs it down Cam Carroll bothering it again.
He is aggressive on the defensive end.

Speaker 2 (57:04):
Isaac Lee left alone and we saw him in.

Speaker 6 (57:06):
A big three land against Northview. Now he's talking to
the crowd as he drills him the left wing. You
don't want to get Isaac Lee going?

Speaker 5 (57:13):
Well, they needed that right they were down six and
this is the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (57:18):
Miller to answer, top of the key, good luck, no
battle for the rebound.

Speaker 2 (57:21):
Carroll couldn't get it.

Speaker 6 (57:22):
Armstrong misses the bunny underneath for Hudsonville rebound.

Speaker 2 (57:26):
Carroll outlet Lee BC and transition right side Whitchers for three.

Speaker 6 (57:30):
He got it Easton Whitchers having a game off the
bench timeout Hudson Mill. Easton Whichers would play Hudsonville every
single game if he could.

Speaker 5 (57:40):
I mean, he just loves to play Hudsonville. I knew
was going in.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
You know what I loved about it?

Speaker 6 (57:45):
He didn't hesitate, He got to look by Lee and
again in transition, Jay.

Speaker 4 (57:49):
I am a big fan of Easton Whichers. Every time
I see him, he plays with so much confidence. And
I'll tell you, Brod, I'm excited about the fall when
he plays quarterback. I think he's gonna be really good.

Speaker 6 (58:00):
Light Chers with eleven after that triple tied at forty four.
We'll keep it right here and let's give away a
twenty five dollars gift guard who wants to be to
ntch Wing Goosey fan of the game.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
We thank you for your listenership.

Speaker 6 (58:10):
If you've won before in the basketball season, you're not eligible.
And let's take Caller seven to our studios. Joe Aron
standing by right now, six one six four five four
thirty seven seventy six.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Joe, I promise we won't take a time out on you.

Speaker 6 (58:25):
Caller seven six one six four five four thirty seven
seventy six.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
You're gonna be tonight's wing.

Speaker 6 (58:31):
Goosey fan of the game, will announce that coming up
in our discount door postgame show named the best chicken
wings in West Michigan three years running.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
And those fries are so good too.

Speaker 6 (58:39):
I love the salt and pepper body way. They got
four different fries. That's how good they are at wing.
Doozy Jay, I want to kick it over to you
now here we go. If we had a run to
the President Center tied at forty four five forty eight
left to go in regulation, it's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (58:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (58:53):
I probably shouldn't say this, but this game has been
better than last Friday night when we had had a
classic that won't be forgotten any tonime soon between.

Speaker 5 (59:03):
Rockford and Michigan.

Speaker 6 (59:05):
This Byron Center Hudsonville game has bet everything anyone could
have wanted in more.

Speaker 5 (59:09):
And here we are, brand new ball game under six
minutes to play.

Speaker 2 (59:12):
And we talked about the matchups.

Speaker 6 (59:13):
What I love to see is guys off the bench,
other guys that maybe don't expect it, contrude as.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
Much, making some big plays. How about Armstrong? Would that save?
Almost got a bucket underneath.

Speaker 4 (59:22):
You're gonna need a lot of heroes to win a
regional championship, and both teams have had that tonight, but
only one is gonna survive.

Speaker 2 (59:29):
Little matchup zone here by BC changing up one, two
to two.

Speaker 6 (59:32):
Daniels deep three, trying to answer too strong, and then
it hits wow, the game clock above the basket here,
So that's out of bombs with the apparatus. That'll go
back to BC. How about the Bulldogs a chance to
take the.

Speaker 4 (59:44):
Lead here, Remember that Brat if this game comes down
to the final possession, because that was a huge break
for Byron Center. When you're in the zone, the concern
is always defensive rebounding, and that was gonna be an
easy two for Hudsonville on the offensive glass, but it
hits the overhead wire out of bound and that cost
the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (01:00:01):
The Baka Carol spin move on Hamlet, splits between Miller
and lays it up and in that was an athletic
move by six to nine.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Cam Carroll, he's.

Speaker 6 (01:00:09):
Got a game high fifteen. I mean that dude loves
this moment. Boy, when the light shine brighter, he wants
the ball and he's coming up big tonight. Three guys
in double figures on the floor, Griffin, Baker back in
the Remember with the three personals, Tinkle with ten though
Whitchers with eleven. Hamlet the paint nowhere to go, cut
off by Carrol out to Fisher right wing now gets
it back to Hamlet in the right corner.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
Miller wants it on the block against Whitchers. Not there,
they'll ball.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Reversal to Daniels about ten oher run for Byron Center.
The Bulldogs down.

Speaker 5 (01:00:38):
Excuse me?

Speaker 6 (01:00:38):
Eight?

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Oh run Fisher.

Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
Strong, move no, and White's gonna be called for the
foul coming over the help. He beat bon off the dribble.
He went to his White, which threw bond Off being
a lefty. And I tell you, I just like the
basketball IQ of Justin Fisher. Smart player out there.

Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
Yeah, a lot to like.

Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
Remember Byron Center was down forty four to thirty eight
when Lee hit that three in transition that started in
eight to oher round.

Speaker 6 (01:01:00):
Now, this is a credit to Byron Center, what we
talked about with Joe Rodriguez and the fact they have
so much scoring and so many weapons. As Fisher hits
the first Cashiuspont was their second leading score at seventeen
points that north you win.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
He has a goose sag tonight.

Speaker 6 (01:01:16):
And the other part of that is credit the guy
at the line of this defensive effort in Justin Fisher.

Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
Yeah, Fisher's an excellent defender.

Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
But remember Isaac Lee on Tuesday against Northview didn't score
in the first three quarters, then had seven big points
in the fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Quar You're right, there's still time four number five. He
can heat up quickly.

Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
Fishers, by the way, too strong of a second long
rebound out BC. So the Bulldogs have the basketball in
a one point lead, forty six to forty five as
we tick towards the halfway point of the fourth quarter.
Won a Division one regional final. We'll try to update
and when we get a time out too. Jay's got
some scores to pass along, especially what's going on in
Gaylor tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
The winner of this one will get the winner of
that game.

Speaker 6 (01:01:54):
If what carmend Aine's worth a Marquette right in the
quarterfinal next week.

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Carmen Ane's Worth leads Marquette fifty four three. The Redmond
had it down to nine just a minute ago, but
the Cavaliers have led most of the night.

Speaker 6 (01:02:04):
Lead kick out to the hot end. Whitecher's airball too
strong rebound. Joe Von Daniels brings it up the far
sideline with a dribble crossover, agains high screen from Miller,
leaves it for Hamlet. Hamlet between the legs, dribble going
right at Carroll. No but Cam Carroll had to commit
the foul. Good job and confidence just oozing out of
Isaiah Hamlet.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
This is the most aggressive I've seen him play offensively.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
You love that old school, right, I mean, both teams
are going inside to Carroll and Hamlet, and they both
want the basketball. Excellent take by Hamlet, Carroll's third foul,
but less of a factor here as we're inside four
minutes to play.

Speaker 6 (01:02:40):
Isaiah Hamlet knocks down the first. He's got eleven to
help lead the way. Joey Miller leading the Eagles with
fourteen second one on the way. Nothing but nylon for
the same year transferred in. What an addition he's been
for Hunsonville. And now it's the the Eagles regaining the

(01:03:01):
lead by one forty seven, forty six, And you.

Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
Wonder about this last three and a half minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:03:05):
Remember Byron Center had to play thirty two full minutes
on Tuesday, Hudsonville able to arrest most of their starts
in that fourth quarter and the win over West Ottawa.

Speaker 6 (01:03:12):
Cam Carroll turn around jumper, backing down Hamlet, no too
strong off the back, ten rebound Miller, Eagles buy one
with the basketball. As we ticked towards three minutes left
to go in this one, we.

Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Saw Byron Center switch to that zone. Briefly. They are
backing man and man.

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
I thought they had a good defensive possession, but probably
weren't gonna get the offensive revere or the defensive rebound.

Speaker 6 (01:03:31):
Had and I been for a bro almost as steal
by Leo Hamlet down low miss. The buddy tipped out
and they thought it was off of Cam Carroll.

Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
Hamlet can't believe it. It's off of him. It'll be
BC basketball.

Speaker 5 (01:03:41):
I thought it was off of We're gonna confer. Yeah,
I think it's Hudsonville ball. Yeah, they're gonna switch it.

Speaker 6 (01:03:47):
Oh, they're gonna switch it Hudsonville basketball. I think that
was the right call.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
I agree with you. I know Joe rod Riggins's staff
don't like it, but I think that was the right call.

Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
By the way, congratulations goes out our Wing doozy fan
of the game, listening all the way out in Norton Shores.
Andy Smith was callers seven. Andy, thanks for listening to
all of our listeners trying to call into Joe. You'll
get a twenty five dollars gift contrayt some great wings
Wing Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
Now Joe bon Daniels time out.

Speaker 6 (01:04:16):
As they were in trouble there, BC tightening up defensively
on the imbounds. Let's see if it's ay or thirty. Okay,
so we'll keep it right here. Let's check it in
some other scores.

Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
Jay, I know fifty eight to forty five is the
carmen asth leat over Marqutte. We last we had at
the end of three quarters, Grand up Its Catholic Center
was leading Sparta forty seven to thirty. I have not
been able to get an update from Marshall and Holland Christian.
The game is not being streamed on NFHS. I couldn't
find a score on Twitter. But of course Catholic Central
looks like they're going to the quarterfinal at Hamilton on Tuesday.
They will play the winner of Holland Christian Hamilton try

(01:04:48):
and be Christian up big on Kalamazoo Phoenix and Palm
lest Veley out big on North Mocechigan.

Speaker 6 (01:04:52):
And we'll make our determination and let you know tomorrow night.
Don't forget our district final broadcast for the girls. We're
gonna be on the Vision two at hop Get High
for Grand Rapid, South Christian and Holland Christian, myself and
Tom Kendra ofth the Call Stary at six forty five
tomorrow night. Holland Christian the outright Okay Black champs at
twenty and three going into that district final against South

(01:05:13):
Christian who's twenty one and two, and they are co
champs in the Okay Gold with the Sailors with Wes Cathleen.
They had a double overtime thriller last year. I believe
in the district final, Jobon Daniels got a hurry, almost
got a five second call to.

Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
You after the time out.

Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
They almost had a five second call before the time.
That was the reason for the timeout.

Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
Now Joe Bon Daniels gets a step on Lee all
the way to the rim no camp. Carroll tips into himself.

Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
How did that one bounce out for Daniels with this
off lay in incredible take by Daniels. He deserved that one,
just rolled off the rim. Vin Senter's got to take advantage.

Speaker 6 (01:05:45):
Lee now trying to scoop a little far out from
the bucket and he goes down heart slow to get up,
but now he's jogging back. Hutsonville had numbers momentarily. Now
Lee resets with Daniels.

Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
By every possession and every place so important here somebody
sees it on the line in a one point game.
In these final couple of minutes, who can execute down
the stretch. Possessions are gonna get limited. Here's both teams
slowing it down a little bit. Eric Elliott choosing they
have justin Fishery.

Speaker 6 (01:06:11):
He likes that matchup with Whitchers, and now he's saying,
go buy him Whitrous.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Oh, Isaac Lee.

Speaker 6 (01:06:17):
Almost a step in still against Daniels, and no, they
wanted it over and back. Daniels now all by himself,
left it short. Back up of the round, Miller a
pie on the left block. Miller trying to body his
way down and kicks him back out to Daniels and
they'll reset.

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Yeah, boy, Miller certainly cleared some spaces with the off
arm barn cerner to get to call that one.

Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
Daniels penetrates, kicks over to Baker, gets it back to Daniels.
They'll go around the horn Fisher right side Handlet have
it matchup with Whitress BC a little fatigued right now.
You can see it with Whitchers defensively. I wouldn't be
surprised if Joe Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Maybe when they get the ball back.

Speaker 6 (01:06:52):
Oh, nice job on the penetration and offensive foul on
the attack by Fisher.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Eric Ellie can't believe it, and was that Whitchers?

Speaker 11 (01:07:01):
It was?

Speaker 6 (01:07:02):
How good has Easton Whitcher's been for Byron Center tonight?
Off the bench, folks, Cash's bot went down too trying
to get the rebound.

Speaker 4 (01:07:13):
It saves the bucket too, because there's a good pass
by Fishing and Hutsfield's gonna get an easy one. That's
just the second player control file we've seen called. We
had the one of bowmen really early a lot of
blocks tonight. That one is an offensive foul.

Speaker 6 (01:07:25):
Smart play here by Joe Ray Rodriguez, his staff Whiters
comes out. He was shaking up obviously taking the charge,
but he was gassed. He needed a blow and landing
Conrad's gonna come in for him here. We'll see how
long Easton gets though, because he's been great for him offensively.
One point game, forty seven, forty six, BC down one
with the basketball Cash just bought between the rings they're

(01:07:46):
trying to post up. Carroll swings it right side to Conrad,
back to Bond. Now Carroll on the double team. Miller
comes over, Holy leave the wide Oprah from Taddy.

Speaker 11 (01:07:54):
Berry's and just like in the driveway down the road
the neighborhood cam, Carroll big bucket in the scene.

Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
You're feeling it right now. I think he leads all
scores with seventeen.

Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
He does, and you can't say enough good things about it.
He was double team. Miller came for the double team.
Carol was ready to pass out of it, but when
the double team fell off, as did his defender, he
was left wide open from.

Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
Fifteen and buried it. I mean he loves the pressure shot.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
That was big time. What a game here, folks, Forty
eight and forty seven.

Speaker 6 (01:08:24):
After that last bucket by Carol, BC leads it again
by one. We've had so many lead changes in the
second half. One oh four left to go, Wanter Remandia
to stay with us for the Discount Door postgame show

Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
I think if you're Eric Elliott here, you want to
try to get either Miller or Hamlet isolated on the
right side of the court. Miller on the left or
Hamlet on the right, overload the other side, take the
ball to that side and try to enter it to
the block.

Speaker 5 (01:09:25):
I think Huttle's gonna go in.

Speaker 6 (01:09:27):
By the way, your two leading scores Miller with fourteen,
Hamlet with twelve. Let's see what they do here. Joe
bon Daniels can't leave him wide open either.

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
And Byron Center has not shown any interesting doubling the posts.
They're gonna guard one on one and going man to
man pressure defense here. Up one down to forty seven seconds.

Speaker 6 (01:09:45):
Joe Bontanel's a high screen from Hamlet wants it and
now I'm gonna drake it down the lane right side
bounce pass download to Miller. Miller steps through, can't finish
off the window reboundcast spot.

Speaker 5 (01:09:55):
Absolutely huge stop for Byron Center.

Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
They got Miller underneath, which I think that they wanted,
but it didn't go and Byron Center clears the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
Got a hurry for a ten second call. Oh, Joe
Rodriguez almost took.

Speaker 6 (01:10:06):
A time out, and now hankl draws a block to
its sportsmanship. Miller helps him out. He realized he was
in a position, but I'll tell you what. They were
closed so they didn't realize it. To a ten second
call there, Jake, Joe Rodriguez was screaming for a time
out because he felt their team didn't realize it.

Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
Yeah, and Eric Elliott was saying, Hey, we got a
file Hudsonbell foul to give.

Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
There in fact.

Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
Throw the second time out by the Bulldogs.

Speaker 5 (01:10:31):
HUPSTI Phil still has two more fouls to get.

Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
Yeah, so Byron Center, if they play this right, they
can run at least ten seconds off the cock here
before they get to the free thrown. But they have
to be careful. I think this is an important aspect
of the high school game. When you're Hudsonville and you
have two foules to give it, you know you have
to give it. Don't just give two hands in the back.
Let's commit a foul trying to get a steal because
you might get a steal.

Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
All this stuff coming up.

Speaker 6 (01:10:53):
Who's gonna be Tonight's Uptown Chief Skate offensive player of
the game. How about our Montel Construction defensive.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Player of the game.

Speaker 6 (01:10:59):
I think I'm I'd have a tougher choice, did you.
There's been some great defensive efforts here tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
I think it's the same guy, although I think I
think right now Lee defensively has been outstanding.

Speaker 5 (01:11:10):
Guard Javon Daniels.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):
You know why give credit to even though I thought
Hamlet got the best of the first half cam care
of the second half. I think defensively and rebounding, right,
I mean he's been he's been a weapon down there.

Speaker 5 (01:11:21):
That's why I said I think it's the same guy.
Then I remember Isaac Lee.

Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
Yep, so good. I think Daniels has been out Sam
And how about Miller.

Speaker 5 (01:11:29):
Miller's been good, Hamlet, and he.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Could be the offensive player the game of Hudsonville. Pulls
us out. Now, Lee, they commit a foul quickly by Baker.

Speaker 4 (01:11:35):
And there they just got to grab. There was no
chance to steal. And maybe it's easier said than done.
I would just like to try to commit a foul
and maybe get a steal out. I was gonna say
Baker can't commit the foul because he's got four. Did
they give it to Miller. Miller's got three, So keep
that in mind. They gotta be careful on who commits
these foul. Well, they just brought Carson Diister in the

(01:11:57):
game for the first time, and that one's gonna go
on Isaiah Hamber Hamlet.

Speaker 6 (01:11:59):
That's just his second on the push on the inbounds
to Carroll. So now you're at fourteen files. The next
one will put VC in a shooting situation.

Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
And remember, even if Byron Center goes to the free thrown,
it makes both free throws, it would still be a
one possession.

Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
Game winner heads to Caledonia. At least right now, we
don't know if that'll change with Flint Carmen Ainsworth and Marquette.
If Flint Carmon Ainsworth wins, I think they will have
them come over to Caledonia, even though.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
It's obviously much closer to either Hudsonville or Byron Center.

Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
I don't think Marquette. If Marquette gets there, it'll be there.
But Karmen Ain's were step six here with a minute
twenty eight to go and.

Speaker 6 (01:12:34):
Maybe five Hamlet with a grab boy and Byron said
it was close to a five second call. But they
get Hamlet with a grab on Carroll trying to come
to the ball. I don't think Cam Carroll's a guy
you want.

Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
To put at the free throw out. He's a good
free throw shooting big man seventy six percent.

Speaker 6 (01:12:49):
And you know what the other thing I look at,
who's been the guy who's wanted the basketball right now?

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
It's been Cam Carrell.

Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
Absolutely it is. They'll question free throw on the.

Speaker 6 (01:12:59):
Way too strong off the back gyron. Still a one
point game, twenty one point nine seconds left, by the
way for Huntsville.

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
Do you go for a three? Do you take a
time out? If you're here at Elliott with this possession,
once you get it into the front court, I'll have
tom izzough.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
I think you play inside out. I don't want to
play inside. I'm sure there'll be a time out here.

Speaker 6 (01:13:21):
Darryl's second one nothing of a nylon. Big fella came
back to get the second one. Makes it a two
point game. Here we go, Joe von Daniels, And wait
a minute, where did they call the time out because the.

Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Clock was running?

Speaker 5 (01:13:34):
Yeah, they dribbled the half court.

Speaker 6 (01:13:36):
Yeah, but the clock he was still. He was in
the back court though when they whistled it. Okay, see
where the official is is where the inbounds? Yeah, they're
gonna get together. This is weird clock run. Yeah it
was at twenty. Well you would twenty and change. Well
he dribbled three. Yeah, But my point is, normally they
try to get across the half court line.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
They did not. If you look at where the offices
and that's why they're talking. Why would you want to
do that?

Speaker 5 (01:14:00):
Do you want to call the time about that soon.

Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
No, why would you want to not get across half
court even I do. Look, they're gonna inmbound it right
over just past the BC bench. I'm just surprised they didn't,
you know, why not get it across the timeline.

Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
Yeah, so I think I think Hudsonville's gonna want to
go inside out here. I mean, we're probably gonna see
a ball screen for Daniels. Let's see how Yron Center
handles that I would trap if I'm Yron Center. I
trapped the ball screen that worked in the at the
end of the first quarter. But my guess is that
that we'll see. I'd want to get it inside either
Miller or Hamlet and then and then kick it out.
You could shoot a three if your hutsaball. I wouldn't

(01:14:32):
completely rule it out, but I'd want to go inside
first and see what I could get there.

Speaker 6 (01:14:37):
Okay, so they're gonna imbounce it to third court. Let's
call it where the volleyball line is. They still will
be in the back court for Hudsonville, moving left or right.
Nineteen point nine seconds left and no one is sitting
down here at Hudsonville Fieldhouse.

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
Forty nine forty seven bull Dogs by two Eagles.

Speaker 6 (01:14:55):
With a basketball man the man pressure defense to inbounds.
Conrad now gonna double Ondaniels. They throw the lob though
to Hamlet, handed back to Daniels and he'll bring it
across the time on himself. Here we go high screen.
Daniels pulls up from fifteen, a short airball battle for
the rebound. Cash just Bond has it and now they
follow him with seven point two seconds left.

Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Now Cash just BoNT yet to score.

Speaker 6 (01:15:18):
In this game tonight, But all he did the other
night was eleven of eleven from the free throw line
against Northview.

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
He's not the guy you want to put it to
the line, bred, But I'll tell you what Isaac Lee's
defense he was beat. They went high ball screen with
Isaiah Hamlet, Daniels went away from it. He had a
step Lee recovered. He made that shot. Tough for Daniels
to end up being on an airball. I cannot tell
you how good Isaac Lee has been on the defensive
end for the second straight game.

Speaker 6 (01:15:44):
I would have to tell you the reaction the student section.
Casis BoNT rattled home the first seven point two seconds
left as a three point game. This would make it
a two possession game.

Speaker 5 (01:15:54):
Still one possession. So this is the big one.

Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Oh, it popped out. It was there sitting on the
rimp down. Here we go.

Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
Fisher fakes to three, Lets it fly, airball battle for
the rebound.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
BC wins it.

Speaker 6 (01:16:07):
The Bulldogs of Byron Center are your Division one regional champs.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Unbelievable. Fifty to forty seven. The final.

Speaker 4 (01:16:18):
Defense, it was the name of the game, Byron Center's
ability to defend.

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
You don't win a regional.

Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
Championship without playing on that end of the court. The
Isaac Lee defense on Daniels. They split the free throws,
they make the shot tough. What a story for Byron Center.

Speaker 5 (01:16:35):
I mean they had won a district in thirty years
and now they're going to the state quarterfinals.

Speaker 6 (01:16:39):
The student section blackout, flows out of the field. Both
teams now separate to shake hands. We will have the
trophy presentation. But about the Bulldogs of Byron Center and
what a basketball ja game tonight, fifty to forty seven,
our second one that literally came to a shot at
the end of regulation.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
And whether we were going old over time or not.

Speaker 6 (01:17:02):
And one a season for the Eagles of Hudsonville and
mister District Eric Elliotts here at home, huge crowd. They
had their chances, but in the end BC and Cam
Carroll and Cash's Spot able to pull it out and
they're moving on down the road to the Busidens Center,
presented by MKDE Funeral Holmes as they head to the

(01:17:23):
Division One quarterfinals.

Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
That's an incredible scene. Obviously, this is Hudsonville's home court.
They'd only lost once in this court all year and
it was in December. There's a ton of Byrons Center
faithful here. If anybody knows anything about the Bulldogs, their
community sports supports their athletic programs, and there's a ton
of orange and black here and they are celebrating it
as we're getting ready for the trophy ceremony about a

(01:17:45):
regional championship. But we've seen their girls basketball program do
this in recent years and now it's the boys turn.

Speaker 6 (01:17:51):
Fifty to forty seven. BC wins over Hudsonville. Will come
back with more. We'll bring you the trophy presentation is now,
the medals being handed down, and we'll go through our
discount door postgame show. As we continue here listening to
the road of the President Center presented by MKD Funeral Homes.

Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
Well, it just comes down to big time players and
both teams have them, right, I mean, both teams have
great senior players, you know, talking about Junior's Cashist Bonn
and Byron Sentaer, Javon Daniels on Hudsonville, But it was
a senior Cam Carroll. I thought he was just the
difference in this game. Defensively, he got an early foul.
We know he battles foul troubles sometimes did on Tuesday.

(01:19:55):
He never backed down. I thought he played great defensively,
He was great on the backboard. Offensively, he led everybody
with eighteen when they were down late. He had the
big bucket to put him ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:20:05):
And your stars need to shine brightest in these huge games,
a regional final in enemy territory.

Speaker 5 (01:20:10):
I just thought Cam Carroll was great for Byron Center tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Yeah, I did two.

Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
I thought he played even better than he did Tuesday
night and the win over Northview sixty to fifty five,
and he's got his bulldogs headed to the quarterfinals next
Tuesday night scheduled right now at Caledonia High School.

Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
We do have a final up in Galor.

Speaker 6 (01:20:28):
They will take on Flint Carmen Ainsworth who held on
against Marquett who had a late rally by six sixty
two fifty six. So they're gonna take on the team
that knocked out Rockford on Tuesday night over in Saint
John's in the regional semi final in that region, and
that could be where we end up Tuesday night. Just
stay tuned here on ninety six.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
To one the game.

Speaker 6 (01:20:45):
All right, let's take a look at the individual scoring
somebody this one. It's brought to you by our friends
at MKD Funeral Homes. We mentioned eight locations to serve you,
and never forget about the information they can provide as
far as pre planning, pricing, or to find a.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
Location near you.

Speaker 6 (01:20:59):
I know it's not always a comfortable conversation, but they
understand that at MKD Funeral Homes, folks, that's why they've
been doing it through four generations here in West Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:21:07):
Well for Byron Center, who wins it and takes the
regional title. In Division one, they were led by senior
bowling green Sinee Cam Carroll eighteen points. He had seven
of those in the fourth quarter, eleven in the second half,
and he leads everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:21:23):
With eighteen points.

Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
They got eleven points from Easton Whitchers eight in the
first quarter and then he had a huge three in
the fourth quarter as well.

Speaker 5 (01:21:32):
Kind of been a bench guy, limited minutes on Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (01:21:34):
Against Northview, but he was great against Hudsonville in the
regular season when they won by two.

Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
Great tonight when they win by three. Whitchers eleven points.
Kean Hinkel, their leading scorer averages sixteen, had ten in
the first half. He finishes the game with ten. Hudsonville
clearly was going to try to take him away. Eight
points tonight for Isaac Lee, but you cannot put a
number on his defense, which is once again outstanding. Two
points from Jaden Bowman and a free throw from Cash

(01:22:01):
Spot for fifty for Hudsonville. They were led by Joey Miller,
their Madonna Bounds senor. He had fourteen points to lead
the Eagles eleven in the first half. I thought Isaiah Hamlet,
the six to eight senior, was outstanding. He had twelve
points in the game, really good on defense as well,
nine points apiece from Javon Daniels and Justin Fisher, and
the Eagles got three from Griffin Baker forty seven points

(01:22:25):
all from their starting five. Of course, Whitchers supplying eleven
bench points for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 6 (01:22:30):
Both were senior laden clubs coming in lots of talent,
and I thought the seniors on both sides really stepped
up in a heck of a basketball game tonight. Again,
congratulations to Eric Elliott and Hudsonville on a fantastic season.

Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
They're going to end their year at nineteen and six overall.

Speaker 6 (01:22:46):
They were eight and two and second place by rock
for the ok Red and the Bulldogs at Byron Sene.
They move on to the quarterfinals after the soccer team
and football teams set the tone of the fall, both
going to state championship games.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
The Byron Center boys basketball team.

Speaker 6 (01:23:01):
Doing with the win, they now improved to twenty and
six overall, and again they were eight into an Okay
Green Division play behind the Skegeon who got knocked out
in district final action at Reeese Puffer last Friday Night
by those Rockford Rams. Still to come on the discount
or postgame show. We got one more segment coming up
from Hudsonville Fieldhouse. Who's going to be Tonight's Uptown Chiefskate
Offensive Player of the game. We'll select Tonight's Montel Construction

(01:23:23):
Defensive Player of the game. And how about that Jay
HS Family Stores highlight of the game. You will play
that back for me in the studio.

Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
Will do that. We continue as you're listening.

Speaker 6 (01:23:31):
To the Road to the Bruslim Center ont of Thursday
Night presented by MKD Funderholmes Live.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
You're on your home for high school Sports ninety six
to one the game Hunchonville field House. Beautiful venue, by
the way.

Speaker 6 (01:23:49):
You need to come out and check out a game
if you didn't make it this season or just a
sporting event they have here. It's unbelievable the way they've
done it and with the community in mind as well,
how they can utilize it with the running track and
everything going on.

Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
But Hudsonville Athletics, they certainly have it going on.

Speaker 6 (01:24:03):
And our thanks to Ben Farkas and also Casey Glass
and Eric Elliot and the crew were having us here.
We really appreciate the fact that they hosted this regional
and what a regional it was when you look at
the teams that were involved.

Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
Jay West Donawa was kind of a little bit of surprise.
But they knock off Grand Haven to get here.

Speaker 6 (01:24:21):
They've got a young squad with coach Riddell, Hudsonville and
then Byron Center Northfield. But the Bulldogs come out on
top with the Division one Regional championship trophy. They earned
it tonight and again the final score in this one
fifty to forty seven.

Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
How about the explosion of Byron Center boys athletics. You know,
I mean fifteen years ago they were Class B Division
two about five hundred to six hundred less students than
they currently have. The enrollment explodes, and boy, the sports
have just taken off. The hockey team wins the state
championship last year. Do people understand how rare it is
for a team on the west side of the state

(01:24:56):
to win a hockey state championship. It hadn't happened since
Catholic Central in like twenty eleven. When Byron Center does
it last year, you know, the soccer program has really
taken off.

Speaker 5 (01:25:05):
They were in the state finals.

Speaker 4 (01:25:06):
This year, the football team under Mark Cisco gets to
ford Field and now look what this boys basketball program
has done, winning a regional title, and now they're one
win away from reaching the Brezlent Center. It's never easy
in the state quarterfinal. They're gonna have a really good
Carbon Anthworth team to take on Tuesday Boy, but the
potential to double up and go ford Field and the
Breslent Center in the same school year, I'd.

Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
Be special for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 12 (01:25:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:25:29):
I was talking to Brady Lake Tuesday night, the athletic
director Byron Sonny said, Man, just a great senior class,
good kids, good leadership for our lower levels. And how
about Joel Rodriguez too. You mentioned a jay in our pregame.
Thirty years since they'd won a district they do that.
Now they've won a regional championship, and you're right, what
a year to be a fan of the Orange and Black.
And I know my kids going to Byron Center. I've

(01:25:52):
always pulled for BC a little bit obviously pulled from
al malatter Rockford and Hudsonville and everything. It's just great
to see. But this one was a showcase of what
West Michigan High school sports is all about. The community, sport,
the fans, the student section. It had everything, and unfortunately
I have to have a winner and a loser. But
both these programs were proven why they were top ten programs.

Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
In our mind throughout the season. When it comes to
boys basketball, well.

Speaker 6 (01:26:17):
Here on the Discount Tour postgame show, it's time to
hand out our own awards. After the regional trophy for
the championship, hit it out to Byron Center and coach Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
The individual medals to the players.

Speaker 6 (01:26:27):
I'll start with you, Jay Uptown Chiepskate Offensive Player of
the game.

Speaker 5 (01:26:31):
Yeah, this was pretty easy. It's got to be Cam Carroll.

Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Not only did the lead all scorers with eighteen, he
just played so well everywhere on the court, and he
hit the big shot when they're down one with a
little over a minute to go, he hit the little
fifteenth foot You know, we saw him shoot the three,
We saw him certainly get to the bucket, the free
throw line and the mid range jumpers. To one he
makes that puts Byron Center ahead for good. I thought
he was clearly the best player on the floor tonight,

(01:26:54):
and Cam Carroll is our Uptown Chiefs Skate Offensive Player.

Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Of the Game.

Speaker 6 (01:26:57):
It's gonna be a Falcon next year at Bowling Green
playing of the Mac. Congratulations number fifteen. Caam Carroll, the
senior post player for BC Tonight's Uptown Cheapskate Offensive Player
the Game, is gonna get to do some shopping on
us courtesy of Uptown Chiefs Skate with those three locations
to serve you, Grandville, kent Wood and along the Lakes Shore.
If for listening in Holland, they buy what you loved yesterday,
say what you want today, clean out your closet, and

(01:27:18):
earned cast for your close Plus you could become an
Uptown Insider and get monthly deals. Just go to Uptown
Cheapskate dot com. I love it for their sports stuff.
And Cam's gonna get a twenty five dollars gift card
to Uptown chief Skate on us for the Montel Construction
Defensive Player of the Game. I need a little bit
of your help here. I want to give an honorable
mention to Joe von Daniels. I thought he played really
well tonight, but I gotta go back to the winning side,

(01:27:40):
I think, and because we saw him do the same
thing Tuesday Night with one of the best prolific scores
there were this year or there was this year in
high school boys basketball, and the job he did on
Britty Sports.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
I gotta go with number three, Isaac Lee.

Speaker 5 (01:27:52):
I'm with you. I agree. I think it's definitely Isaac Lee.

Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
And there were a lot of really good candidates for
Defensive Player of the Game, and you love the way
Lee plays. He's aggressive, he goes for steals, he's excellent
at taking the ball away, and sometimes he gives up
a step.

Speaker 5 (01:28:06):
Tonight that happened.

Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
He's just so good at recovering and that I to me,
that was the play of the game there late with
Hudsonville going for the shot to try to go ahead
or tie it and Daniels had a step on him
and he recovered to get in his face.

Speaker 5 (01:28:20):
Make it a tough shot. Isaac Lee was outstanding on
Tuesday Night.

Speaker 6 (01:28:24):
Defensively, he was really good again tonight, really impressed with
number three for Byron Center.

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Why not honor another senior right make it their final run?

Speaker 6 (01:28:30):
Isaac Lee number three senior point guard for Joe Rodriguez
and BC Tonight's Montel Construction Defensive Player of the Game
brought to.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
You by Montel Construction.

sixty six and ask about their spring savings. Fifteen percent
off going on right now, and last but not least,
before we wrap things up, our J and H Family
Stores Highlight of the game. We gotta go back to
the six to nine post player from Byron Center. His
name is Cam Carroll. Cash the spot between the rings

(01:29:06):
they're trying to post up. Carroll swings it right side
to Conrad, back to Bond. Now Carroll on the double team.
Miller comes over ho they leave them wide Oph.

Speaker 11 (01:29:13):
From Teddy Berry's and just like in the driveway down
the road, the neighborhood Cam Carroll big bucket.

Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
In the scene.

Speaker 6 (01:29:22):
You're feeling it right now. I think he leads all
scores with seventeen. Did I mention he's my neighbor, Cam Carroll.
There you go with the jd H Family Stores Highlight
of the game. Sixty plus locations across Michigan to serve
you jd H Family Stores, stop being on the way
to your next game or on your way home. Well,
as we wrap things up, a couple of our final
scores to pass along Jay on the road to the

(01:29:42):
Brezens Center tonight and kind of fifty to fifty as
far as West Michigan teams tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:29:46):
Yeah we know.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
The Division two quarterfinal at Hamilton will be Grand up
It's Catholic Central against Marshall.

Speaker 5 (01:29:51):
The Cougars at.

Speaker 4 (01:29:52):
Granupit's Christian beat Sparta sixty two to thirty two. Again,
elite defense from CC IS in Chris Pearl's first season,
they win conference, district and regional title and are now
one win away from the Breslin Center and they'll take
on the Marshall RedHawks. Marshall taking care of Holland Christian
at Harper Creek tonight, sixty one forty six. A great
run for the Maroons comes to an end in the

(01:30:13):
regional final. In Division three, Adam Dugner and North Muskegan
made a valiant effort and a comeback in the second half,
but they fall short against Grady Ecklund and Puemo Westphalia
forty six to thirty nine.

Speaker 5 (01:30:25):
In the final.

Speaker 4 (01:30:25):
Is the Pirates March on now one win from the
Brezlentn Center, and in Division four, I think it's gonna
be a whale of a quarterfinal at goll Lake on Tuesday.
Trianity Christian beats Kamzu Phoenix Tonight on his home court
sixty two fifty two. They'll take on the Fowler Eagles.
Fowler beats Miskegon Heights tonight seventy six thirty five. You know,
last year, Try Unity on its way to the Division

(01:30:46):
four state title, beat Fowler in the regional and then
Follower returned the favor on Trinity's home court in December
beat the Defenders one of their two losses this season.
I'll tell you what, tri Unity is a team that
is certainly playing great basketball this time of the year.
That's gonna be a way of a matchup with power.

Speaker 6 (01:31:02):
So we're gonna decide where we're going to be and
we'll let you know tomorrow night. As don't forget our
road to the buzz and Center coverage continues brought to
by MKD Funier Homes with a.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Girls district final and Division two.

Speaker 6 (01:31:11):
We're gonna be down myself and Tom Kendrick court side
at Hopkins High School for South Christian at twenty one
and two Sailors ok gold co champs against Holland Christian.
The Maroons girls team at twenty and three they were
the outright okay Black champs under head coach Kyle Phelps.
Six forty five with the Jan's Family Stores pregame show,
that's tomorrow night for that district final seven o'clock the

(01:31:32):

Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
