Speaker 1 (00:06):
You say Tomorrow, I say Tomato. The name of the
visiting school in tonight's own see U Lake Shore Game
of the Week continues to vide people across West Michigan's
sunset coast. I'm Jason in alongside Tom, Kendra and Tom.
I've always said Ravenna, but I know there are many people,
including yourself, that say it Ravanna. Can you explain your reasoning?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
That is a great point, Jason, And there's really no
good excuse for it. It's just to me, it's just laziness,
that Midwest accent. But it reminds me of when I
used to cover when Dusty Fairfield was there, and he
would always enunciate Itvena, Revenna. That's how it's supposed to be.
I'm lazy, I say Ravanna, but Revenna it is.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Will have some fun with that tonight, no matter how
you say it, Tom. The West Michigan Conference River's Division
title is on the line tonight as Ravenna takes on
North Mischgan. What do the Dogs have to do to
snap a sixteen game conference winning streak for the North
and get a piece of this title.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Well, I think Ravanna has to do exactly what they've done.
I'd say the last three times they played North Muskegan,
their defense has really shown up and they stopped the run.
They You look the last two times they played in
the playoffs, back in twenty twenty one, seven to six
Ravanna wins, then the next year twenty twenty two, a

(01:25):
ten to seven win. Right here, that was the last
time that Ravanna was here at Fred jacks Field. So
they want that same kind of game, low scoring. When
Ravanna has the ball, they want to keep it, grind
it out, keep the ball away from this explosive North
Muskegan offense.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah, it's interesting you bring up the playoff meetings in
twenty one and twenty two, those, of course not division games.
North Muskegan has not lost a West Michigan Conference Rivers
Division game since the West Michigan Conference expanded, and split
sixteen straight wins. But they've won five straight this season
since a Week one loss to Paum. Was this despite

(02:01):
the transfer of first team All State quarterback James Junk
to Miskegan. Now Larry Withams bunch has been impressive. Tom,
how are they doing it?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, you mentioned James Young. They still bristle about that
around here. They don't want to hear about it anymore.
They got Bryce Kolbert, He's a junior. He's stepped in
and done a very nice job for North Muskegan. But
how are they doing it. They're doing it with athletes.
They've got them all over the field. They got great
team speed. We're talking about TJ.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Byerd.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
How about the Bartows brothers, Cullen and Drew Bartows, Hunter Wilder,
we got Landon Grim, Chuck Myers. So's that's what they're
doing as a Division seven school. They have as many
skilled athletes as anybody out there.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, it's an exciting matchup. We're really looking forward to
this one. This is the Lasco Services pregame show. Lasco
Services Plumbing, drain, HVAC experts at your Service. Lasco has
unsurpassed customer service since nineteen ninety nine. The right team
to handle residential or commercial plumbing and HVAC needs called
two three, one, six, seven, four, eleven, seventy six to

(03:03):
request a same day appointment in the Mskegon area. Still
to come, We're gonna have tonight's Keys to the Contest.
Our Coaches Corner interview with North Muskeigan head coach Larry
with him, and when we come back, we'll take a
look around the Lake short some other key games happening tonight.
This is the LMCU Lake Short Game of the Week
on one oh seven m US. The Moose Ravenna and

(03:23):
North Muskegan actually had never met in the postseason before
three years ago, but they met in the Division seven
District tournament in twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two,
both going the way of the Dogs. Jason Huttman, Tom
Kendra Backett, Fred jacks Field in North Muskegan. As we're
getting ready for the LMCU Lake Short Game of the Week,
it's a battle at the top of the West Michigan

(03:44):
Conference Rivers Division. The Bulldogs, coming in four and one
in conference, played this their final divisional game of twenty
twenty four. The Norse a perfect four to oher. We're
looking to make it three straight outright conference titles. But
before we dig more into this matchup, TK, let's take
a look at some other games going on around the
Lake Shore tonight. Brett Pakita and Buck Gino have an
excellent matchup at the top of the ok Whites. They're

(04:06):
at Forest Hills Eastern where the five and one Hawks
are hosting West Catholic staying in the White Spring Lake
one and five at Hamilton four and two. Spring Lakes
got to be one of the better one in five
teams i've seen in recent memory. They've been close a lot.
Could they get over the hup tonight against Hamilton in
the OK read East Kent win three and three at
Grand Haven two and four and then out of the

(04:27):
OK Green where Union Grand Rapids Union zero and six
is at Mona Shores. The Sailors six and Oh how
about Reese Puffer two and four at Muskegan two and three,
Both teams hanging on to a thread of their playoff lives.
Remember last week Reeve Puffer had a fourth quarter lead
against Byron Center, couldn't hold it. A year ago, this
was a dogfight.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I think it'll be another good game. It's a huge
game for Shane Fairfield at Muskegan. He wins that game,
he'll become the all time winning as coach at Muskegan
High School. Right now he's tied with Leo Redmond with
one hundred and fifty six wins, So extra and sei
for the Big Reds. But forget about that. The Big
Reds need to win this game. They need to probably
win next week in our Game of the Week at

(05:07):
Byron Center if they even want.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
To get in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
In the OK Gold where there's always great matchups. How
about four and two Zealand East at four and two
Forest Hills Central. Kind of a battle for third place there,
but two good teams and fighting for playoff births as well.
Wyoming one and five at five and one Zealand West
into the OKA Black one and five Thorniple Kellogg at
Holland Christian five and one for the Maroons homecoming the

(05:31):
OK Silver five and one, Hopkins at two and four,
Fruitport Owen six Comstock Park at two and four Holland
And I kind of like this matchup Tom Oakridge three
and three at Belding five and one. And you might
look at this on paper and say, well, this isn't
a great Oakridge team. Beldings roll in five straight wins,
but Oakridge has dominated Belding in the last five years.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
They have, so they feel like they should win this game.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
So they're going to go in there with a lot
of confidence, and looking at Harry Harger's team, you know
they get in the playoffs. Every year they lose this game,
you know, they still have to come here and play
a very good North Muskegan team. I think they're looking
at this as a must win game, try to get
in the playoffs. So I anticipate that one to be
a closer game than people meant might think.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
And well, we have a battle for first place in
the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division. There's also a battle
for the first place in the West Michigan Conference Lakes
Division going on tonight. Luddington five and one at Whitehall
four and two, of course the Vikings two time defending champs.
I really liked him in this matchup despite Lightnington's five
to one record.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Well you look at Whitehall's four and two record. Who
did they lose to two of the best teams in
West Michigan Unity Christian and Zealand West. But Cam Thompson,
you know, we saw him earlier against Montague, the big
six to five quarterback for Whitehall. He's getting better and
better at that position. He's so athletic, he's like a
Carson vis I think with him getting better at quarterback,

(06:53):
that makes Whitehall a very dangerous team electing to play
up in Division four. I expect them to win this
game tonight. I look for them to be real strong
come playoff time.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Elsewhere in the Lakes almost a playoff eliminator Fremont two
and four at Montague two and four, and then a
non divisional game as Rivers Division school Shelby at three
and three at Lakes Division Manistee three and three, Hisperia
two and four at Mason County Central five and one.
In the River's Division, Frankfurt at five and one is

(07:23):
at Muskegan Catholic Central, Who's one and four, Big Rapids
five and one at Owego five and one. In the
Central States Red two and four, Grant at four and two,
Reed City and in the White one in five White
Cloud at three and three Kent City. And a late addition, Hart,
who was supposed to play Holton tonight. That Holton has
not having a varsity football team for the rest of

(07:45):
the year, Hart was able to add orchard View tonight.
Orchard View was originally scheduled to play Redford Westfield prap
Over in the Detroit area, so that game was a
late addition. This is the Lasco Services pregame show. We
have more to come, including a conversation Tom Kender had
with North Mschigan head coach Larry with him. That's when
we return. This is the LMCU Lake Shore Game of
the Week on one oh seven mus the Moose, Ravenna

(08:10):
and North Muskegan. We're both members of the Seaway Conference
between the years nineteen sixty and nineteen sixty five. They've
both been members of the West Michigan Conference since nineteen
sixty nine. We're count down to this West Michigan Conference
Rivers Division battle for first place, with the home Norse
leading the Bulldogs by a game in the conference standings.

(08:31):
Jason and Tom Kendra and it's time now for our
Factories Surplus sales Coaches Corner interview. Tom Kendra with North
Muskegan head coach Larry with um.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
All right, we are here with North Muskegan head coach
Larry with them here in the coaches corner as a
preview for our game of the week. Ravana at North
Muskegan and Larry. I wanted to start off talking about
your defense a little bit. Through six games, only Mason
County Central, which is five and one, has scored more
than one touchdown. Last week versus montagu you had four
fourth down stops, a couple of turnovers.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Who are the ring leaders? I guess on that side
of the ball.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
It really is a very collective effort by all of
those kids. Our linebacking corp is extremely tough, very very experienced,
led by the inside linebackers. Henry Husman. Charlie Myers was
an All State hit a year ago. Hunter Wilder is
one of our inside linebackers, and then Drew Bartos interest

(09:28):
in Thomas or our outside linebackers. It's too a phenomenal
job reading plays and understanding where an offense wants to
try to attack them, and then consequently they're physical enough
to make plays and fast enough to make plays on
the edge. It's very difficult to run football against.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Us, all right.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
And as far as offensive weapons that you have, I mean,
you have something that would be the envy of maybe
Division two or Division three schools. I want to talk
about your quarterback in a minute, but for now, tell
us about some of your other top skill case.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Well, you know, we're we're blessed with a lot of
really good skilled kids, you know, all over the place.
It's very difficult again to defend us because we have
so many kids that share the ball on a nightly basis.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
T J.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Byerd is our left receiver and is one of the
leaders in the area and receptions and the yardage. On
the other side of the of the aisle is Drew Bartows,
our right receiver, very big, physical kid. Not only us
he play wide out, but he's physical enough to play
tight end. When we go to a to an eleven
personnel type of a set, twelve personnel type of set.

(10:34):
And then we have in the slot land and Grim,
a very shifty, quick slot receiver. And then we share
the ball with our age back, Charlie Myers. Charlie Myers
is a great receiving threat, very tall, six to two
but one hundred and ninety pounds physical kid. And then
in our backfield, it's kind of geared by a three

(10:56):
headed monster between Colin Bartow's, Hunter Wilder and Tristan you.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Know, so.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Collectively mean individually, those kids don't have a whole lot
of yards, but collectively, you know, they're they've got you know,
over a thousand yards between the three of them. So
keeping him fresh and healthy is a good thing for
us because they played both ways.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
This is Tom Kendra here in the coach's corner. I'm
talking with North Muschigan coach Larry. With him, I want
to talk about the quarterback position. Obviously, last year you
had an all state junior quarterback and James Young led
the team to the semi finals. Then he transfers to
another school. How did that affect the team and how
is Bryce Colbert handling matters?

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Well, you know, the numbers speak for themselves with Bryce.
He's thrown for over one thousand yards now in eighty
eight attempts. He's completing seventy one percent of his passes,
thirteen touchdowns, no interceptions, you know, so he's doing everything
that we could ever ask of him to not only
move the football team through the air. We're very well balanced.

(11:56):
We have eleven hundred yards rushing, one thousand pass you know,
we're about fifty to fifty down the middle, pretty hard
to defend and without turning the ball over. That's pretty
remarkable this time of year, when when you're in week
seven you haven't thrown an interception and as many times
as we throw the ball during a game. So I
think he's done a miraculous job making the transition from

(12:17):
JV football to varsity football. How did the transfer affect
our football team. I think it really kind of galvanized
our kids a little bit. You know, certainly we were
all a little bit dismayed, a little surprised at what occurred.
But you know, life goes on. You know, football at
North Muskegon is going to continue to exist with the
kids that we play with, and our kids really rallied

(12:39):
around Bryce and and because of the nature of and
the disposition of our kids, you know, you know, Bryce
just stepped to the plate and said, you know, I'm
going to take my acts and and do the very
best I can. And fortunately for us, he's been, you know,
above and beyond the call of duty.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Great.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
So, coming off a thirty six to eight win last
week at Montague, now you welcome another long time foe
in Ravanna. The last time they were here, I'm sure
you remember, it was a heartbreaking ten to seven loss
in the playoffs, and they played you tough again last fall.
I guess what is it about Ravanna that you guys
seem to bring out the best in them?

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Well, yeah, and they bring the best out nuts too.
You know, I love their coach, you know, coaching Ego
is a great guy.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
It's it's you know.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Similar traditional, traditional rich programs that have been playing football
since nineteen thirty two against one another, so long, long
time rivals. And you know, what is it about the
camaraderie between the schools two schools, I'm not sure, you know,
geographics certainly play into that. We're pretty located pretty close

(13:50):
to one another, same size schools. You know, if we
both end up making the playoffs, more than likely we'll
see him again in the.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Playoffs like we did two years ago.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
And just you know the fact that that you know,
we play pretty good football at both schools and and
so you know, this is something a game that we
circle on our schedule every year. Our kids know that
this is a little bit different week, and I'm sure
the Ravana kids do as well.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
And lastly, coach, you guys had one heck of a
playoff run last year, some just amazing victories and all
the way to the semi finals. What does a run
like that do to a football program.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Well, you know, first of all, it was it was
a great run by the night by the twenty twenty
three team. Twenty twenty four is a different year. We
have a lot of the same faces, a lot of
the same names that we had in twenty twenty three.
And I think what it does is it sets a
level of expectation. You know, there's these guys understand first
of all what it takes to get to the playoffs

(14:48):
and then now finally to make a little bit of
a run at a one game away from a final,
and you know, it left a bittersweet taste.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
In their mouths.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
You know, they knew that they were that close to
play at Ford Field, but still, you know a handful
of steps away from from completing that journey. And and
I think these kids again have really really balled out
during the summertime to get prepared for this year and
obviously the Tuesday Week seven that we're in, so you know,

(15:20):
sky's the limit for these guys. We've got a veteran
group of seniors that have that have led this team
for a long time now, and uh, you know, we're
just we're just looking for more good fortune out of
these guys.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
All right, Thank you, coach, good luck Friday night, Thank
you very much.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
With North Muskegon head coach Larry with him is his
Norseman gets set to host Revenna, the top spot in
the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division on the line. North
Muskeegan undefeated in division play Revenna with one loss to
Mason County Central. Each week, our Coach's Corner is brought
to us by Factory Surplus Sales located in Montague, where

(15:56):
you can get brand name clothing at a budget price.
Check come out Factory Surplus Sales. When we come back,
we're gonna check out the keys to the night's game.
This is the LMCU Lake Shore Game of the Week.
I won a seven mus the Moose. North Mocechigan won
the five hundredth game in program history last Friday night,
beating Montague thirty six day. Looking for win number five

(16:19):
oh one tonight as they take on Ravenna at the
top of the West Michigan Conference River's Division. Jason Utting
along with Tom Kender getting ready for the ELMSU Lake
Shore Game of the Week. And Tom, let's take a
look at our Vanderlin Home Improvement Keys to victory, one
for each team.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Go ahead, Yeah, We'll start with North Muskegan and I
think it's simple. They have to do what they haven't
done recently against Ravanna. Let's get these athletes out in space.
Ravenna's done such a great job of keeping them bottled up,
and I think in order for North Muskegan to win,
they got to get whether it's throwing the ball or
whether it's a getting the ball to some of these
guys on end to rounds. Maybe something to get Cullen

(16:55):
Bartos get land and grim out in space where they
can do damage. If they're able to do that, I
think it's going to be a long night for Revenna.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Well, you remember last year's game at Citizens Field in
the pouring rain. North Muskigan threw for just twenty two
yards in that game, but did win eighteen to seven.
For me, it's special teams. North miskeiging has been really
impressive on special teams this year. Punt block, punt return,
set up field position, hitting yarders. That'll be huge.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
How about for the Bulldogs, Well, I think for Ravenna
it's simple. Their one advantage really as I look to
analyze this game coming in is in the trenches.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
They're bigger.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
They have to take advantage of their size on the
line and grind it out.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
You know, I'm they can't match.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
They don't want to get in a track meet with
North muskie and they don't have a chance, but they
can grind it out three four yards at a time.
That's what they want to do, possess the ball. If
they're able to do that, they've got a chance.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
For me. The key for Revenna is they got to
force turnovers. North Wiskeking hasn't thrown an interception all year.
If Revena is going to be successful tonight, they have
to win the turnover battle. Our keys to the contest
always brought to us by Vanderlin Home Improvement. With eighty
years in the business. Vanderlot Home Improvement offers top notch
contractor services to customers in West Michigan. Called six one
six six six nine eleven eleven for more details, or

(18:07):
visit VanderLans Double A on vanderlands dot com. This is
the LMSU Lakeshore Game of the week, Revenna and North Muskegan.
Almost time for kickoff. We'll step aside come back with
the start of tonight's game on one oh seven m
us the Moose, Jason and Time Kendra back at Fred

(18:28):
jacks Field, North Muskegan hosting Revenna. We're just about set
to go. In week seven of the high school football season.
Great night for football, temperature in the upper sixties, a
little bit of a breeze. North Muskegan has won the toss,
defer their choice to the second half. Ravenna will field
the opening kick and have the football to start the game.

(18:48):
The Norse will defend the north end. The kick from
senior Owen Booth is high end over end to Jackson Wilburn.
The sophomore takes it from his own eighty comes back
up the middle cross. This is the twenty five and
down at about the twenty six and here comes junior
Dylan May and that bulldog offense Tom Kendra.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah, Dylan May six ' five. I was watching him
before the game. He's obviously got great size, but he
can really throw the ball. I didn't realize. I haven't
seen him play live, but I didn't realize. He was
thrown at thirty forty yards down the field no problem.
So it gives us Ravanna offense a little different look
than we're used to with a guy a quarterback like that,

(19:27):
So we'll see how they are able to use him.
But they like they still like to run the ball.
Derek Finley, the senior running back and then, of course,
Jackson Wilburn, the sophomore are their two main weapons.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
The visiting Bulldogs in the all white uniforms, white pants,
white jerseys with blue numbers and blue striping, the blue
helmets with white dogs. On first down, Dylan May's gonna
run quarterback power right up the middle. He's got nowhere
to go, met and dropped fifty four makes the tackle
for Northwi Skig and Henry Hussman the Norse, going with
the home Navy blue jerseys with the gold numbers and trim,

(19:59):
all white pant ants and the Navy blue helmets with
the gold wings. Of course, the Norse broke out white
helmets for the first time in my I can remember
this season, wearing them a couple of times, but going
with the traditional blue tonight, it is second down and
nine for Revenna on their own twenty seven yard lie
Derek Finley is next to ma and he gets the
carry running left. May able to get over the thirty

(20:21):
and close to the thirty two before Chuck Myers makes
the tackle.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yet that first play Jay Henry Hussman making the tackle
that time Chuck Myers. Those are the two inside backers
for North Muskegan. I know Larry Witham loves those two guys.
They're really run stuffers. And then they have outstanding outside
backers too, Drew Bartos, Tristan Thomas, Henry Wilder will play
out there a little bit. So this linebacking corps for

(20:49):
North Muskegan really good and very athletic.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
So we've heard from Finley. The running back Senior Isaac
Corson number twenty one, is an h back for Revenna.
Their wide receivers are Junior's number three, Brodie Johnson, number
thie thirteen, Carson van Ens. On third down, May's gonna
run it. He gets out to about the thirty four
yard line, but that'll be short of a first down.
Chuck Myers makes another tackle fourth and two for the

(21:12):
Bulldogs on their own thirty four yard line.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Well, big play that time by Chuck Myers. That was
a huge conversion there that Ravanna's gonna have to punt
the ball away here, Jay and we said one of
the keys to the game for Ravanna was to be
able to grind it out and hold on to the ball.
And here they are their very first possession. They go
three and out.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
So Derek Finley they're all everything. Senior is the punter.
Colin Bartos goes back at single safety, waits at his
own thirty three yard line. Has been very good returning
punts for the Norseman this season. Low line drive kick
will bounce at the forty and Bartos has to go
over his head at his own thirty and he finally
covers it up back at the twenty five. So an
effective punt from Finley which will be forty one yards

(21:54):
in no return. And we'll get our first look at
junior Bryce Colbert in this North Mischigan offense, North.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Mosque, and very fortunate there Bartos got his hand on
the ball. Brody Anderson was down there for Ravana had
a chance at it, Bartows was able to jump back
on it. So very fortunate there. Yeah, very excited to
see this North Muskegan offense. Like you mentioned, the lefty
junior Bryce Colbert is the trigger man. And look at
their spread out wide on the first play, empty set.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
On first down for Colbert, straight back to pass with
time looking over the middle, decomplete to Colin Bartows near
midfield down at the forty nine before Jackson Wilburn makes
the tackle.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
But it's twenty four yards on first down for the Norseman. Wow,
how about that? They right away they go to Colbert
over the middle. Maybe not the most beautiful pass, a
little bit wobbly, but it got the job done and
quick completion.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
There we'll see three different running backs, all very good.
Colin Bartows, the sophomore starts. We'll els to see Henry
Wilder and senior Tristan Thomas. And on first down they
give it to the sophomore Bartos, who wears number six.
He's into Ravana territory. Got about three to the eight
yard line. Check the rest of that North of Muskegan offense.
Their wide receivers are outstanding number two senior tj Byerd

(23:06):
and number eight senior Drew Bartos, the older brother of Cullen.
Their slot receiver is a senior number zero, Landed Grim,
and their h back number one, senior Chuck Myers. Second
down and seven, as they scrimmage from the Bulldog forty
eight yard line, Drew Bartos in motion gets to carry. Sorry,
that's Landon Grim gets the carry on the sweep. He's
down to the forty five. It'll bring up third down

(23:28):
and about four. Check that offensive line senior number fifty
five Tate Panucci playing left tackle. We saw senior Lucas
Diego out with an injury two weeks ago against Heart
die Back playing defense tonight left guard is sixty five
junior Brennan Slayton, the junior center is number seventy one. PJ. Wimer,
Henry Hussman the senior number fifty four right guard, and

(23:50):
Jackson Bean the senior number fifty at right tackle. Big
play here, third down and four for the Norse on
the Ravenna forty five yard line. Myers h Back on
the right side. Grim goes in motion, Colbert in the
shotgun takes the snap, rolls right now He's gonna throw,
and the pass is deflected and caught. It'll be good
for a first down. Look like number four. This linebacker

(24:13):
zeke Erler got a hand on it, but Land and
Grim still came down with it at the Ravena thirty
four yard line. It's eleven yards in a first down.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Good concentration there by Grim, even though the ball was deflected,
making the catch out there in the flat and a
big conversion there for North. Muskig and Ravana had the
ball third and short failed to convert North Muskie and
third and short. They do convert, and now they got
a scoring opportunity for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
In the defensive line, Senior Isaac Corson at one defensive end,
Senior Nash Hoffman at the other. The tackles in the
middle are junior Caden Kniff and junior Jackson Peebles. First
Inten Colbert straight back to pass, looking to the left,
passes caught again. It's his man land and Grim who
is inside the twenty five down close to the twenty
yard line. Tackle made that time by bro Anderson, but
not before thirteen yards and another North Miskiga first down.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
How about Bryce Colbert so far in this game, Jay,
he has been on the money, throwing.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
It all around the yard.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
And yeah, you know you have to say it. They
don't like James Young was the man last year, but
they don't miss him. Bryce Colbert is really playing well
this year.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
James Young was the man for the last three years
on varsity for North Mischiga. But Colbert doing a great job.
The hand is to Wilder on first down. He's inside
the twenty two about the nineteen before junior Brennan Buskirk
makes the tackle from his linebacker spot check the other
linebackers for the Bulldogs number seven senior Derek Finley and
junior Zeke Erler, who deflected the caught pass for a

(25:41):
first down just moments ago. The corners are Brody Johnson,
number three and Carson van EN's number thirteen. The safety
is sophomore number two Jackson Wilburn and number eight Jacoby Coleman.
It will be second down and seven for the Norseman
on the nineteen yard line after the three yard gain
by Wilder. Wilder goes in motion out of the empty

(26:03):
backfield and Colbert's gonna throw for the end zone. He's
got a wide open Drew Bartos caught for a touchdown
and North Muskegan strikes first in front of the home crowd.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Wow, what a beautiful play and a great delivery again
by Bryce Coolbert. But how about Larry with him the
strategy coming in. He knows that Ravanna has an edge
maybe in the trenches. He just has been spreading them
out and they're throwing it all over and a very
impressive opening drive for the Norseman.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
So Owen Booth is in to attempt the extra point.
Six minutes fifty six seconds to play opening quarter. The
kick is up and it is good, and our new
score is North Muskegan seven, Ravenna nothing. And that reminds
us that every touchdown in our games of the week
one oh seven m us. The ninety six point won

(26:54):
the game is fifty dollars donated by LMCU to Kids
Food Basket. Kids Food Baskets are official nonprofit for them
to high school football games of the week in this
regular season, every touchdown scored during our games of the week,
LMCU generously donates five hundred and fifty dollars to Kids
Food Basket to nourish local kids to reach their full potential.

(27:15):
And five minutes and four seconds into this game, Bryce
Colbert and Drew Bartos have hooked up for an early
touchdown for the home team.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Well yeah, I mean Drew Colbert. I'm sorry Bryce Colbert.
Coming into the game, you know he had thrown for
over a thousand yards, maybe not against the best competition.
We wondered how we would do. What was he on
that drive? Was he five to five through the air?
Just super impressive. That's his fourteenth touchdown pass of the year.

(27:44):
Jay zero interception, so very efficient. Passing game for North Muskegan. Wow, Ravanna,
they got to be a little bit shocked, you would think.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Let's see if they can bounce back.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
The Bulldogs go three and out after receiving the opening kick.
They pun it to Northman and the north sco seventy
five yards on seven plays in two minutes and fifty
six seconds of cap it with the Bryce Colbert nineteen
yeard touchdown pass to Drew Bartos Norrise, they're gonna kick
it deep. Willburn awaiting at his own ten, takes it,
oh cannot field it on one hot retreats to his

(28:18):
five to pick it up, and he's hit and dropped
at the nine yard line. Jaden Villapando there to make
the tackle and the Bulldogs will be backed up to
start possession number two.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah, not a good start at all for Ravanna that time.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Wilburn a little bit casual going back to get that ball,
and North Muskegan was down there, great coverage and they're
Ravanna already down seven to nothing early in this game.
They're starting at their own ten yard line.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Let's spot it at the ten. Finish that Ravenna offense
number two, Jackson Wilburn the sophomore has had a really
good year as their slot receiver on the offensive line.
Sixty four junior Caden Kiniff at left tackle. Left guard
is fifty two junior Brennan Buskirk. Sophomore Austin Millis starts
at under number seventy six. Senior number fifty eight Jackson
Peebles will play right guard, and Senior number fifty four

(29:06):
Nash Hoffman is the right tackle. On first down, they
hand the ball to Finley, who runs right up the
middle for not much no gain, back to the ten,
and we're gonna have a timeout. Is there is there
an injured North Miskegan player down on the field with
six forty eight to play in the first quarter, and
we'll step aside. This is the Lake Shore game of
the week. On one oh seven m us the moose,

(29:33):
North Muskegan seven reven and nothing. We're six thirty seven
to play in the opening quarter. Lucas Dye the senior.
It was the injured Norseman. He was able to walk
off the field under his own power. Let's check that
North Muskegan defense. Junior number sixty Brennan Allen starts at
nose tackle, Jackson being the senior number fifty at one
defensive end. Die had been the other defensive end, but

(29:54):
Clinton Villa Pondo number sixty seven is checked in for
Die and on second down, the hands to Finley running right,
and once again the North Muschigan defense rallies and stops
him after a very short gain Hunter Wilder among others,
and on the stop give him maybe two, but it'll
be third down and long.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Yeah, great job stringing that play out by You see
already the speed of that North Muskegan defense. When Ravanna
tries to run wide, they just can't get there. And
a good job by Finley making something out of nothing,
getting at least a few positive yards.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
But just like that, it's third and long again for Ravenna.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
The very very unusual three to five defense employed by
North Muskegan number nine Tristan Thomas and number Adrew Bartos,
the outside linebackers, three inside linebackers five Hunter Wilder, one
Chuck Myers and fifty four Henry Hussman. And on third
down Ravenna stays on the ground. They run it up
in the middle with Finley, who's over the fifteen to
about the seventeen, but he's three yards short of a
first down and the Bulldogs are gonna have to punt.

(30:54):
The secondary for North Muskegan, senior Jayden Philipondo number ten
in June, number twenty four, Jordan elam Eth at corners
and then sophomore Colin Bartos is the safety fourth down
and three and Philly's gonna drop back to punt.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
This is exactly what Ravanna did not want in this game.
Two straight three and outs. They haven't been able to
control the line of scrimmage like they were hoping to.
And yeah, they need to figure something out. They could
get a snowballed here in a.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Hurry, Finley punting from his own two. Colin Bartos back
waiting at the Ravenna forty seven, a high kick this time,
Bartos fields it right at midfield. He's across the forty five,
now inside the forty. Bartos knocked out of bounds at
the thirty seven yard line. But it's a thirteen yard
return and excellent field position for the Norse. And this
is what I met by special teams. Tom We saw

(31:50):
Owen Booth kickoff the opening kickoff to start the game
for North Muschigan, but after they scored the touchdown, Gunner
Schmidt kicked off. The bouncing kick was effective as it
went past the returner. Worstra Vendas start from their own
ten yard line and now North Moskegan with a good
punt return turns it into great field position.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Yeah, we don't talk maybe don't talk about special teams enough.
You know, it's the third leg and a program that's
really coming like North Muskegan. You know, special teams is
the final piece of the puzzle.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
So first and ten from the thirty seven and then
North will go double tight end Myers and Bartows and
they're gonna give it to Hunter Henry while they're right
up them. Sorry, that's Tristan Thomas, the senior checked in
and running back and he's inside the thirty five to
about the thirty four a three yard game. And that's
what we can see the versatility of this North Mocechigan offense.
They can go four wide empty and they can go

(32:40):
two tight ends and run the ball between the tackles.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
And there's an image jay around North Muskegan football is
that they're not very tough, that they can't run the ball.
They're more of a the nets team, and they don't
like that. And they're gonna, I think, on this drive here,
getting the ball on this side of the fifty, they're
gonna try to establish themselves running the ball.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Four minutes to play open a quarter in North Missus.
Hegan seven reven and nothing. Colbert gonna throw on second down.
He rolls left and throws deep to the end zone
looking for TJ. Buyer, but it is overthrown an incomplete
good coverage down there by the Bulldogs Brody Johnson and
Jackson Wilburn, we're both in the area. It'll be third down.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
TJ.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
Byer, he's their big downfield threat. Jay that the senior,
and he came into this game with twenty catches and
six touchdown catches and he hasn't that's the first time
they've targeted him tonight.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Just overthrown.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
And we've got another injured North Miskegan player down this
time it is the starting right tackle number fifty, Jackson
being the senior. Now, we saw Lucas Stye lip off
the field moments ago. He started die started the season
as the left tackle, but since the injury against Heart
two weeks ago, has not played offense. We've seen Tate
Panucci fill in and now with excuse me, Jackson Bean

(33:51):
down on the field. Number seventy nine, Kale Gunby is
checked into the lineup for North Miskegan as the trainers
tend to Jackson Bean on the field and otherwise, great night,
a great start for North Muskegan, but they can't afford
these linemen to be going down. Jackson Bean is one

(34:12):
of the leaders up front and he's he's just limping
off the field. That's a couple couple of injuries already,
and North Mischigan can't afford that. So Bean is being
helped off the field by his head coach. Larry with
him and the Norseman trainer talk about this three headed
monster in the backfield for North Mischigan. Tom, We've already

(34:33):
seen Colin Bartows the sophomore, Hunter Wilder the junior, and
now it's Triston Thomas the senior. They all three start
on defense, so the ability to rotate them on offense
works in terms of keeping guys fresh, but all three
can really run the football.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Yeah, those are three kids, Jay that most Division seven
schools they would love to have any one of them,
and they've got three of them.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
And so that's why Larry with them.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
You know says a little bit an embarrassment of riches
sometimes with some of the skill kids they have.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
So the clock is running and we are ready to resume.
Third down and seven from the thirty four buyered. The
seniors split out to the left. Bartos and Grimm are
to the wide side right. Thomas is next to Colbert
in the gun. Myers the h back on the left
side of the formation. Now Drew Bartos the senior is
gonna come in tight and line up at a tight
end on the right side of the formation, and they're

(35:23):
gonna play action. Colbert's gonna throw under pressure. Nap hot
nash Hoffman got him. Colbert threw the ball into the ground,
but it has to be intentional grounding. They're calling it
an incomplete pass, but that'll have to be intentional grounding.
There was no receiver in the area. The ball was
about three yards from where he threw it. Great play
by nash Hoffen to break through and pressure Bryce Colbert.

(35:44):
The officials need to we'll need to get together and
talk about this.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Oh wow, looks like they're gonna call this an incomplete pass.
Jay I don't think there was a doubt he was
in the grasp when he threw that ball. That's a
huge break for North Muskegan. Just they're gonna rule that
an incomplete pass because now they have a chance here
instead of fourth and what fifteen, it's only fourth and seven.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Justin Ego out on the field with his arms spread,
that has to be an intentional grounding er in the grass.
But they rule it in complete. A huge break for
North Muskeigan. Fourth and seven, and now Colbert's gonna drop
back as if to punt, and he is gonna punt
it a sideways kick that will bounce at the eleven,
go inside the ten, and out of bounds at about
the seven and once against special teams North Mosque playing

(36:26):
a little field position here.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Yeah, like you said, great special teams play for North Muskegan.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
But I tell you what, that's.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
A huge stop for Ravanna right there because North Muskegan
starting that possession on the other side of the fifty
yard line with a chance to go up fourteen to nothing. Instead,
Ravanna's defense comes through with a huge stop. So let's see,
that could potentially turn this game a little bit. It
looked like North Muskegan was gonna go up fourteen to nothing.

(36:55):
Now it remains seven to nothing. Can Ravanna do something
with it on their third We we.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Spend a lot of time talking about North Mschigan's offense
and their weapons. They have great receivers, great running backs,
a good offensive line. But this defense has been really
good this year. They've not a lot of first down yet. Tonight,
first and ten, May out of the gun back to
pass with time looking left, throws a bullet complete to
Jackson Wilburn across the twenty to the twenty one, and
there's Revenna's initial first down to the night. Check that

(37:21):
it's Brody Johnson number three with the catch, give him
thirteen yards out to the twenty one.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Yeah, beautiful past that time from Dylan. May you know again,
I wonder why Ravanna doesn't throw the ball more. It's
kind of like we did spring Lake earlier, and we
saw Reed Grimmer for spring Lake. You know, a strong arm.
They don't throw it a whole lot. Maybe Ravenna, especially
in this game. You mentioned the North Muskegan defense, how
good they are. Ravanna may have to go to the

(37:46):
air more.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Well, if you get the kind of protection in time
that May got a first down, he's gonna be tough
to stop. Gets it again here on second down, makes
a nice throw looking right to Carson van EN's with
the ball is incomplete in and out of the hands
of the junior receiver. It'll be second down.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
That's not an easy pass to throw all the way
across the field, but it was in the hands of
van Ends. He just has to concentrate and bring that
one in.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
What it'll be interesting to see the chess match in
this game. That's consecutive pass plays for even a both
times excellent protection by that Bulldog offensive line. We'll have
to see if the Norsemen decided to dial up some
pressure at some point here and try to get May
a little uncomfortable. Two forty four to play. Opening quarter,
North Miskegan seven reven and nothing. On second down they
give is to Wilburn on the sweep Jet sweep. Wilburn

(38:30):
nowhere to go. Excellent play Chuck Myers there early, Drew
Bartos finishes him off. It's a loss of a yard
back to the twenty again.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
When they try to run wide, there's nothing there.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
This North Muskegan defense is just too fast, just a
host of Norsemen out there waiting for him.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
And here we go again.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
After that one first down, that first down pass completion,
we're back to third and long for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Wilburn. This sophomore has been really effective outside on that
jet sweep this season, but the Norseman defense very disciplined
and sound and made the play there. Dylan May straight
back to pass on third and eleven. All day to throw.
Now he rolls right, he goes deep looking for van
ends near midfield. His feet got tangled up with the
corner Villa Pondo. It's incomplete and it'll be fourth down.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Yeah, that time a great protection there by the Ravna
offensive line. Dylan May had all day to throw the ball,
but great coverage. He ended up just throwing it into
double coverage. And like you said, it could have potentially
been a pass interference call, but I think it was
a good no call. And yeah, Ravana's.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Gotta kick it away.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
This time, it's Dylan May going back to punt. Is
Derek Finley trots off the field. Finley punted the first
two times times. Colin Bartos, the sophomore, goes back to
wait at the reven of forty nine yard line. May
gets off a high end over and kick that will
bounce at the forty eight and go out of bounds
right in midfield, So it will be a twenty nine

(40:04):
yard punt, no return, and with one minute and fifty
five seconds to play in the first quarter, the Norseman
will get the ball for the third time. Their first
possession resulted in a nineteen yard touchdown pass from Bryce
Colbert to Drew Bartos. Their second offensive possession was a
three and out punt, and this will be the second
consecutive time the Norsemen start on the Bulldogs side of

(40:27):
the field.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Yeah, that's a problem for Evana. They can't keep giving
this northmcekegan offense this kind of field position starting on
their side of the field.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
That's a recipe for disaster.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
So in first down, Colbert in the gun with an
empty second to swing it out to Chuck Myers and
the left. Who's got it? Myers inside the forty five,
steps through a tackle at the forty Meyers spinning his
way down to the thirty seven and still on his
feet at the thirty five and down to the thirty
four yard line. Tough run by the senior. After the catch,
it's again a fourteen. They're gonna spot him into the

(41:00):
thirty five.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Wow, how about those moves for a six ' five kid.
They couldn't get him on the ground, and then everyone
thought he was gonna go out of bounds. He danced
along the sidelines a little bit longer. Yeah, this is
a he's a great athlete. Chuck Myers. You remember his
brother Ben Myers, one of the best baseball players in
the area last year. Also a great football player, but yeah,

(41:22):
Chuck Myers, great two way player here for the Norse.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Ben now at Davenport University getting ready to play baseball
for Kevin Tidy and the Panthers. Second first in ten.
Tristan Thomas and Hunter Wilder both in the game here.
Thomas as an h back and the give is to
Hunter Wilder. No nothing doing there. Cayden Kenniff makes the tackle,
no gain, It'll be second down.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Yeah, nice job that to Jacoby Coleman. Also, the safety
came up and helped helped finish him off. Again this
Ravanna defense, they've been putting bad positions all night long,
but they're trying once again to get another stop.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Colton Rolis, in the sophomore number twenty two, is checked
in the game at linebacker for the Bulldogs. Derek Finley,
who normally plays linebacker, is back at safety right now
for Revena, who may be trying to find an answer
for this. Northman was kick in passing Attack Colbert on
second down throwing deep looking for Byron in the quarter
of the end zone. TJ. Byer goes up and gets

(42:26):
it and they're gonna say he's out at the one
yard line.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
What an unbelievable catch by TJ. Byer there, he was
great coverage, but he just went up. He's six '
twoed jay. He's a very athletic kid. He's a kid
who could be playing college football next year. And he
went up and grabbed that ball. Just an unbelievable catch.
Too bad they wouldn't let him have the touchdown. They

(42:51):
said he went out of the one yard line.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
So first and goal from the one after the thirty
four yard pass from Bryce Colbert to TJ. Byerd and
they handed to Wilder right up the middle and the
junior is into the end zone for the touchdown with
twenty seven seconds to play in the opening quarter, and
the North Muskegan Norsemen have extended to a two touchdown lead.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
Wow, that's a very heartbreaker. Really for Ravanna.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
They had him to another third down and really great
coverage down the field, but Bryce Colbert just throws it
up for grabs and TJ Byer, just more athletic than
the Ravanna cornerback that time, went up and got it
set up the easy one yard touchdown run by Wilder.

Speaker 1 (43:35):
So Booth is into a teenth the extra point, but
he misses it wide right and our score will remain
North Muskegan thirteen and Revenna nothing. With twenty seven seconds
to play in the opening quarter. That North Muskegan drive
five plays forty nine yards, It takes one minute and
twenty eight seconds off the clock, and it ends with

(43:57):
a Hunter Wilder one yard touchdown run. But the big
on the drive is the thirty four yard connection from
Colbert to Bayered down to the one yard line, and
that Hunter Wilder touchdown run is another fifty dollars. LMCU
donates to Kids Food Basket every touchdown in our games
of the Week this regular season. On one of seven
m us the Moose and ninety six point won the game.

(44:20):
LMSU generously donates fifty dollars Kids Food Basket to nourish
local kids to reach their full potential. Well, Tom, it's early,
but Revened down two scores are gonna get the football
back here. In three possessions, they've had one first down
in three punts. They're gonna need to do something with
it this time.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Yeah, they're in trouble.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
Unlike some of those pass matchups, their defense has been
able to keep them in the game, uh so far tonight.
In order to stay in this game, they're gonna need
to score some points and they haven't been able to
do much.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
Justin Ego is the reven A head coach, in his
fifth season leading the Bulldogs. He's twenty five and twenty.
He of course, spent ten seasons as an assistant the
Muskegan Big Red staff with Shane Fairfield Booth. With the kickoff,
Wilburn takes it from his twelve yard line. Wilburn back
up the middle, across the twenty to the twenty five
and down in about the twenty six yard line, where

(45:14):
the Bulldogs will go to work. Larry with him is
in his ninth season as the head coach to the
North Muskegan Northman. He's fifty four and thirty two is
sixty the six twenty eight winning percentage. He was an
assistant here at North Mschigan for twenty four seasons before
coming head coach. Is a nineteen eighty graduate of North
Muskegon High School and last fall was named Lions Coach

(45:34):
of the Week, which is an incredible honor for a
really good football coach. So Revena gets the ball now,
first down and ten on their own twenty six yard line,
their fourth possession of this first quarter, of which there's
twenty one seconds remaining. North Muskegan leads the football game
thirteen to nothing. Jackson Wilburn is lined up as the

(45:59):
wildcat quarter with roll us in next to him. Dylan
May is split out wide to the right. Wilburn's gonna
run left. He's got about four out to the thirty
yard line and what will likely be the final play
of the opening quarter. After twelve minutes, our score, North
Miskegan thirteen revena. Nothing will step aside. This is the
LMCU Lake Shore Game of the Week. On one O
seven m us the Moose, North Miskeigan thirteen revena nothing.

(46:27):
We're about ready to start the second quarter at Fred Jacksfield,
Jason Hunting along with Tom Kendra the Norseman looking for
a seventeenth straight West Michigan Conference River's Division win and
a third straight Outright Conference title. The Bulldogs can share
the conference title, but they're gonna have to come back
from two scores down. Here is they have the football
second down and six on their own thirty yard line.

(46:47):
We saw wildcat on first down. We're gonna see it
again here on second down, TK Dylan made the quarterback
again split out why to the right. Wilburn will be
in the shotgun with roll Uson next to him, and
they're gonna run their reverse to Finley. Finley's got some
room over the right. Sie gets a block from May
and number two TJ. Byard is gonna get Derek Finley
for a small game of about three. Byard was being

(47:11):
blocked by Dylan May the quarterback, and there is a
flag on the play, and I believe they're gonna call
May for holding on Byard, who ended up making the tackle.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
Wow, that was a well designed play, a little trickery
with a Finley coming out there in the open field
and there was only one guy out there to make
the play, TJ. Byard, And give him credit even though
he was being blocked and held by Dylan May. He
still made the tackle. How about TJ. Byard, He goes
up and makes that beautiful thirty four yard catch a

(47:42):
minute ago, comes back and makes a great open field
tackle on that play.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
So after the penalty, it's second down and twelve, and
now Wilburn's just gonna run it right up the middle
again out of the wildcat formation. He gets about five
yards and May give him four to the twenty nine.
It's gonna bring up third down.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
Yeah, so far in this game, you know, North Muskegan
leading thirteen to nothing, But I've been more impressed with
their defense than their offense, really limiting anything that Ravanna
can do. Kind of interesting, Ravanna making a quarterback change
so quickly Dylan May. You know, he looked good on
a few of his passes. But I think they believe Wilburn,

(48:20):
you know, and the wildcat tight quarterback might give him
a better threat running the ball.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
But it's third and seven, a definite passing situation. Wilburn
stays in there and he throws it up for May
and May cannot make the catch. Good coverage down there
by Jaden Villa Pondo. It's going to be fourth down
and raven is gonna have to put again.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
Yeah, no choice there.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
He threw it up to I think to try to
high point it to Dylan May, but Dylan May let
it come down.

Speaker 3 (48:47):
It was in his hands.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
He had a chance to make that catch, and you know,
in a game like this, Jay, when you're already down
thirteen to nothing, you really need to make that catch.
Wasn't able to do it, and now they have to
kick it.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
So Dylan May into punt and now Hunter Wilder joins
Collen Bartos back to receive the punt, which was nearly
blocked by Tristan Thomas, but it gets through cleanly and
it goes out of bounds at the Ravenna forty four
yard Linevenna.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
Jason justin ego can't believe it. It has to be
roughing the kicker. He didn't unless they didn't top ball.
I don't think he hit the ball and the U
and he plowed over the punter.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
But no flag that time. Not sure.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
It did not appear as if the ball was touched.
It ends up being a twenty six yard punt and
North Moschegan will get the ball on its own forty
four yard line with ten to fifty four to go
here in the opening quarter, already up thirteen to nothing.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
Yeah, Bravanna's offense unable to do anything against a North
Mcekegan defense which is just so athletic and very unique.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Like you said, a three five. Look, can they make
it work?

Speaker 1 (50:02):
The excellent field position continues for North Mischigan. We have
a time out here on the field which will give
us a chance to check some scores from around the
area provided by rapid radios.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Over at Hackley Stadium where Shane Fairfield is looking to
become the all time winning as coach at Muskegan High School,
they strike first, they lead Reese Puffer. Then the wind
just blew all my papers away, Jay, but I got
that one. Miskegan leads Reese Puffer seven to nothing. In
over at Mona Shores, they have but no problem so

(50:35):
far with grand rapids unions. Mona Shores twenty one, Union zero,
Hamilton three, spring Lake zero. We got a hop Hopkins seven,
fruit Port six, Frankfurt seven, Muskegan Catholic Central two and
an interesting score from your alma mater at Belding early
on Belding eight, Oakridge three.

Speaker 1 (50:59):
A couple of others and at Jennison leads Caledonia seven to
six at the end of one quarter, and grup It's
Catholic Central leads Northview three to nothing after one quarter.

(51:21):
Go to rapid Radios dot com to learn more. That's
rapid Radios dot com. And as we resume play after
the timeout, North Muskigan hands the football to their sophomore
running back Cullen Bartos, who gets into revented territory at
the forty six. That's a ten yard game and a
first down. The Norse move the chains and go quickly
first and ten from the run of forty six. Colbert

(51:42):
throws quickly the left. He's got Byered at the thirty five,
Byered down to the thirty. That's another sixteen yards and
a first down for the Norse.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
Yeah, Colbert, that time's a nice zip on the ball
on the quick slant to a Buyered. You know the
play before that the running play to the right. Nice
blocking by the right side of that North Muskegan line.
Henry Hussman over there at guard Tate Panucci was the tackle.

Speaker 1 (52:05):
Little tempo from North Mskeigans. They had to Hunter Wilder
running right. Wilder're inside the twenty. Hunter Wilder to the
five and into the end zone his second rushing touchdownder
the game. But there is a flag back at the
twenty yard line, and now the official also throws his hat. Yeah,
this is coming back, definitely coming back. Look like Drew

(52:30):
Bartos the guilty party. As the officials sort this out.
It was a thirty one yard Hunter Wilder touchdown run
the penalty flag throwing eleven yards downfield, and it is
going to be a penalty on North Muskegan.

Speaker 2 (52:47):
I think they might have gotten a second penalty there
unsportsmanlike conduct, so we have a.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
Holding penalty and then they call personal foul. So I
believe both penalties will be assessed because the personal foul
is dead ball. And this is going to be a
tough blow for the Norsemen who thought they had six
and I believe they might be all the way backed

(53:14):
up to the forty five yard line.

Speaker 2 (53:16):
Yeah, we mentioned that the three different running backs that
Larry Whim can use, Colin Bartoss, oh geez, there's all
sorts of things going on down there. But Hunter Wilder
obviously a great ball carrier. They're beautiful run. Just a

(53:38):
shame it got called all the way back like that.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
So the penalty occurs. It's twenty yard line. The ten
yard holding penalty backs them up to the thirty. The
personal fil backs them up to the forty five. It's
first down in twenty five. Colbert's going to try to
get it all back on the first play as he
throws deep at the ten yard line incomplete.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
Just looking for land and him out there. Kind of
beautifully thrown ball, but he was well covered out there.
Defensive back was able to break it up.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
T J.

Speaker 1 (54:11):
Byrd is not on the field for North Muschig and
instead number fourteen Braylin Burrell is in at one wide receiver,
and now we see Drew Bartos was also not on
the field for that play. Bartos returns, I'm sorry. Byron
is on the field. Byard is gonna line up as
a tight end. Drew Bartos will line up as the
tight end. It's a bunch of formation on the left
side for North Muskeigan, Colin Bartos next to Bryce Colbert

(54:36):
and the gun play action cobrat back to pass over
the middle, caught by Drew Bartos inside the thirty five
down to the thirty three. He can't cover much better
than Jackson Wilburn did there. Bartos still brings it in.
It'll bring up third down and long.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
That's one of the things I've noticed.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
Jay Ravana has has great coverage down the field. Colbert
is just delivering the ball right on the money over
and over again.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
There is another flag on the field back at the
reven of forty nine excuse me, the north of Skiing
and forty nine yard line where Colbert threw it from.
And this is going to be another penalty on North Muskeigan.
Back them up to their own forty five yard line
and it's going to be second down and thirty five
excuse me, second down to thirty four for the North.
They need to reven a twenty one yard line for
a first down. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
So North Muskegan, after being very impressive, very efficient on
a couple of those scoring drives, now at this possession
they're killing themselves with penalties.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
Byerd split to the left, Drew Bartows and landing grim
to the right. Colbert rolls left and he throws late
complete to Culin Bartows at midfield. Bartos to the forty
five to the forty He slips down at the reven
of thirty eight yard line. Nice improvisation there by both
Bryce Colbert and Culin Bartos and they end up getting

(55:55):
eighteen yards to the thirty seven yard line.

Speaker 3 (55:57):
Yeah, very impressive.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
That's a junior quarterback throwing it to a sophomore running back.
But these guys are a great athletes, great football instincts.
It's a this is a very impressive North Muskegan team.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
So you throw it, you throw an eighteen yard completion,
you think maybe a first down. Now it's third and seventeen.
Colbert back to pass, looking deep incomplete, trying to get
it to Chuck Myers, but he couldn't hold on and
it'll be fourth down for North Muskegan.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Yeah, that was another great delivery there by Bryce Colbert.
Just over and over again. That one really should have
been caught by Myers. He still would have been short
of the first down, but I think it would have
put him in a position where they could have gone
for it on fourth down. Now I think they're gonna
look to kick it away.

Speaker 1 (56:47):
Well, it's fourth down and sixteen, but the ball is
on the plus thirty seven yard line. Colbert is in
the gun, but we've seen him do this and drop
back in punt not only tod night but in previous weeks,
and he'll do that here. Now he drops back and
he will kick it low line drive, kick bounces at
the fifteen, takes a Norse bounce to the ten, and
will be down at the nine. So North Muskegn continues
to win this field position battle. Tom Kendra and Revena's

(57:10):
got another chance. You're down thirteen to have the football
back at their own nine yard line.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Yeah, Ravenna's gotta find a way to do something though.
That's they can only hold on and put so much
pressure on their defense. They gotta find a way to
move the ball. It'll be interesting to see what Justin
Ego does with the quarterback position. We saw the six
five Junior Dylan may start the game, but then Jackson
Colbert come in on the last possession.

Speaker 3 (57:37):
Let's see what they do here.

Speaker 1 (57:38):
Well, when May has been passing, North Moskeign is just
dropping eight because May is not necessarily a running threat,
and I think the move to put Wilburn in there
is just to give you a little more running threat
at quarterback. Wilburn takes the nap running left. It's just
a wildcat play. Run all the way and he's going
to be out to the ten yard line and that's
about it. Maybe two yards before a hunter wild there

(58:00):
makes the tackle. They'll give him three to the eleven.

Speaker 3 (58:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:04):
Again, you know those running plays, even though even if
there's a hole there, quickly they close up with this.
North Muskegan defense is very fast to the ball. Like
that play looked like there might be some running room.
They held them just to a three yard game.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
Well, North Moskegon looks faster on defense to me. And
when Reven is trying to run these stretch plays and
get outside, they're just not able to do it, at
least to this point. So they'll stay in the wildcat here.
On second down, will Burn gonna hand this time to Finley.
Finley tough sledding there. He's got nowhere to go. Drew
Bartos makes the tackle for North Muschigan and it'll be
third down in another passing situation. But we continue to

(58:42):
see starting quarterback Junior Dylan May at six foot five
lining up at wide receiver on the far side of
the field. Clock running seven to fifty to play, opening court,
second quarter.

Speaker 2 (58:52):
Yeah, already, this North Muskegan defense is forcing Ravanna to scramble,
try to find do different things to find way to
move the ball. So far nothing has worked, and we're
faced with another third and long deep in their own territory,
so they need something great to happen here.

Speaker 1 (59:12):
Jay Finley lost the yard on the second down play.
It's third down and eight and Dylan May's back in
their quarterbacks straight back to pass, looking to throw out
to the right. It is incomplete, incomplete intended for Jacoby Coleman,
would have been good enough for a first down, but
he couldn't hold on to it, and now the Bulldogs
are gonna have to punt again from deepen their own territory.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
Wow, that's another pass from Dylan May which was actually
in the hands of his receiver. Granted there was a
lot of traffic over there, he might have heard footsteps,
but again, when you're trailing in a game thirteen to nothing,
you got to make that catch. It falls to the turf,
and here we go again. Ravana, kicking from deep in
their own end.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
May stands in his own end zone to punt it,
and the kick is off, this time out to the right.
It will bounce it to forty seven and take a
really big even a bounds inside the thirty five yard
line all the way down to the thirty four and
that's a fifty six yard punt with no return, and
that'll flip field position a little bit because the Bulldogs

(01:00:11):
have been in the shadow of their own end zone
most of this first half, and now North Muskegan will
get the ball first and ten on its own thirty
four yard line. Thirteen to nothing. North Muskegan's lead over aven.
As we checked the Rivers Division standings the West Michigan Conference,
North Muskegan four and oh sixteen straight wins since the
conference expanded and split into two divisions. Revenna comes into

(01:00:33):
the night four and one. Mason County Central, which is
hosting Asparia, is three and one, Shelby two and three,
and then Heart and Hysperia each one and three, so
six fifty three to play before the half. North Muschigan
has the football first and ten on its own thirty
four yard line. Colbert out of the gun, throws out
quickly to the left. He's got Grim, who makes a
man miss in the backfield. Now he's got a first

(01:00:53):
down across the forty five Grim into midfield. Oh look out,
Landon Grim is gone. Twenty ten touchdown, sixty six yard strike.
That ball was thrown behind the line of scrimmage and
Land and Grim turns it into a touchdown. The North
Muskegan goes in front, nineteen to nothing extra point pending.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
What an incredible individual play that time by Land and
Grim is making people miss and what a dagger that time.
I was just gonna say, ravanna if they could get
into the halftime only down thirteen to nothing, But no,
Land and Grim had other ideas. He took about a
five yard pass from Bryce Colbert turned it into a

(01:01:39):
sixty six yard touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
So Owen Booth will tempt the extra point out of
the hold of Coulin Barto's and it's a fake. They're
gonna pitch it to Villipondo, who's in all kinds of trouble.
He's hit and he has dropped. They were trying to
make up for the fact that they missed the extra
point on their last touchdown, but Ravenna sniffed it out
and our score will remain. North Miskeigan nine team revena nothing.
This is the LMCU Lake Shore Game of the Week

(01:02:02):
on one o seven Mus the Moose. We'll be right
back with a kickoff the Trinity Health High School Football page.
We got our game of the week schedules there. We've
got some decisions to make here. Tom and I know
we're gonna be at the Mskeigan Byron Center game next
Friday night. But what are we gonna do week nine?
We'll have to sort all that out. You can find
out at the Trinity Health High School Football page. We've

(01:02:23):
got podcast standing scores, got a link to West Michigan
Oka Sports. Find the Trinity Health Michigan High School Football
page at one oh seven mus dot com ninety six
to one. The game dot Com and what Radio dot
com powered by Trinity help improving our communities by going
beyond our hospital walls. North Muskegan set to kick it deep,
number twenty three, Gunner Schmidt. We'll kick it deep to

(01:02:44):
Jackson Wilburn and Brody Johnson. It's a high endover end
kick that Wilburn. We'll take it his own twelve yard line,
Wilburn coming back up the middle, across the twenty five
and out to about the twenty seven yard line. That
last North Meschigan scoring drive. One play, sixty six yards,
eleven seconds, landing Gram a sixty six yard touchdown reception

(01:03:06):
from Bryce Colbert. The extra point no good on the
fake two point attempt. And these are score in North
Mischig in nineteen orven.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
And nothing so far, nothing Ravana has tried offensively has worked.
You know, Dylan May has been very impressive throwing the ball.
He's been hurt by a couple of drops on KEI
third down passes, but justin ego, just trying to make
something happen, alternating the quarterback situation with Dylan May, and

(01:03:34):
and so.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
Far, you know, they had not been able to get
traction either way.

Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Don't forget to stay tuned to our preferred automotive halftime show.
We're gonna check in with John Ard live at Whitehall
as the Vikings take on Luddington in a battle for
first place in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division. May
on first down wants to throw, with time, looking right,
throw a short incomplete. He was trying to get it
out there too, Zach Erler, But Drew Bartow's jumped the route,

(01:04:00):
nearly picked it off and would have taken aback for
a score, but it falls harmlessly to the ground and complete.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Yeah. These are Bartos brothers or something else.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
Drew Bartos, a senior, great size at the outside linebacker spot,
and his younger brother, Colin Bartos, a sophomore starting running
back and free safety. So they're a key part of
this North Muskegan team.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Second down and ten, van Ens and Johnson split out
to the wide side left, Jacoby Coman goes out to
the white side rights, and the give goes to Derek
Finley right at the middle. Hard running from Finley as
he gets it out across the thirty yard line, maybe
to the thirty one. Chuck Myers with the tackle, they're
gonna spot him at the thirty again to three.

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Coming into this game, remember we talked about the key
for Ravana was if they were able to move the
chains grind out first downs. They haven't been able to
run the ball at all. I mean this offensive line
really that's been the biggest disappointment. I would think Savanna fans,
I think they thought they'd be able to pound it
a little bit more. I would give credit to this

(01:05:07):
North Muskegan defense. They're very, very good.

Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
It's you don't see this. You don't see a three
five five linebackers. They kind of move them around a
little bit. You gotta find out where they are and
get to him. They haven't been able to and Venge
is getting out of what they want to do. They
want to pound the football with Derek Finley, but they
haven't been able to. And I'm third down. May's gonna
throw it again. He's got time now. He's flushing rolls right,
trying to get it out there to Finley, who caught

(01:05:30):
the football, But we'll check the spot. I'm not sure
he got a first down. Nice play by Finley. I
think he's a yard shy of the first down though,
at about the thirty six yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Yeah, that was a nice play by Dylan May. He
was just scrambling there, got rid of it kind of
in desperation.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
But a nice catch by Finley.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
You're right, he is short, but I think you know,
trailing nineteen to nothing, fourth and one, they've got to
go for it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
But what player are you calling here? Time on fourth
and one? Because you have not been able to run
the football.

Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
I think they got to try.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
They got the big boys up front, Caden Kniff, Buzzkirk
Nash Hoffman on the right side.

Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
Earler's in at an h back and they're gonna run.
Dylan May get an extra boxer with Kentley. Dylan May
did not get there. Cullen Bartows the sophomore safety. They
put nine in the box and the sophomore safety makes
the play, and once again North Muskegan's gonna start with
the football on the plus side of the field. After

(01:06:29):
Dylan Mey gets no gain on fourth and one.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Wow, what a hit by Culin Bartos coming up from
that free safety position. It looked like Dylan May was
gonna pick up the first down, and then all of
a sudden he was met like he was shot out
of a cannon.

Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
Cullin Bartos with a huge hit.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
And now North Muskegan already had nineteen to nothing five
minutes to go.

Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
They take over at the thirty six yard line.

Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
This is already their fourth possession started on the Bulldogs
side of the field. Robert wants it all on first down,
going deep for Bayard and Byard's got it at the
ten out of bounds, out of bounds. He did not
come down with an inbounds. It'll be an incomplete pass.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Yeah, that's one of the first throws of the night
that Colbert, you know, really hasn't been right on the money.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Just threw it out too far.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
And even though Byard caught that ball, yeah, he was
clearly a couple of yards out of bounds.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
I like the idea, though, you got all the momentum,
you just caused a big play on defense and turn
them all around downs plus thirty five. Take a shot
at that time, it's just out of bounds. So on
second down and ten, Byard still split out to the left,
Drew Bartos and Landed Grim are to the right. Tristan
Thomas is next to Colbert and the gun. Colbert wants
to throw a time incomplete. Little too tall for Drew Bartows.

Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
It'll be third and ten, Yeah, just a little high.
Bartos is a He's a big target. Drew Bartos, just
like Chuck Myers is a big target.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
See that.

Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
That's what I really like about this North Muskegan offense.
They got the speed guys, they got Colin Bartow's, they
got Tristan Thomas, they got Hunter Wilder, but they also
have the couple of big targets to throw the ball
to and Drew Bartows and Chuck Myers, so a lot
of like Larry Whithams has a lot of different weapons
for the norse third down and.

Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
Ten, Colbert hands to Thomas running left, Thomas inside the
thirty down close to the twenty seven. He's gonna be
about a yard shy of a first down. It'll bring
up fourth down now for North Muskegan.

Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Wow, I think everyone thought that they were gonna throw
the ball there. They handed off to Thomas a nice
run couple yards short, but at this place on the field,
it's four down territory.

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
North Muschigan will take a time out to talk it over.
We'll take it with him. This is the MCU Lake
Shore Game of the Week on one oh seven mus
the Move, North Muskegan nineteen Revena nothing, four minutes twenty
seven seconds to play before the half, and the visiting
Bulldogs need a big stop here. The Norsemen have the

(01:09:08):
football fourth down and two at the Revenna twenty eight
yard line, and the Bulldogs Tom Kenner can ill afford
to fall behind four scores here before the break.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Oh, no question about it. They're already in bad enough shape.
They got to keep them out of the end zone.

Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
They're gonna run Thomas left. He gets away from a
defender in the backfield. He's got a first down down
to the twenty yard line. Rollason made the tackle, but
not before the Norse moved the chains. It'll be first
down and ten.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Yeah, the Bulldogs had a chance of that time to
get to get him in the in the backfield, but
he was able to break that initial tackle, pick up
the first down, and now you know, there's plenty of time.
They got about the twenty two yard line, still more
than four minutes to go before half. They don't need
to be in a hurry, but they're they're in position

(01:09:57):
to add to this lead.

Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
First down to ten, they're gonna stand on the ground
this time. It's calling Bartos. Jump cut to the left,
he's inside the ten. Bartos outside of the five and
into the end zone. Callin Bartos with an incredible twenty
yard touchdown run and North Muskegan is running away with
this thing. In the second quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
Wow, what a run that time by Bartos.

Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
We saw the big hit he made to get the
ball back and that one he just some nifty footwork, Ravanna.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
They gotta wrap him up. He just kept going.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
Twenty two yards later, Colin Bartos is in the end zone, so.

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
North Moschigan will attempt the extra point. Owen Booth is
one for two on his point afters they faked it
on the last touchdown and tried to go for two
to no avail good hold there by Bartos. The kick
is up and it is no good short and our
score will remain North of Muskegan twenty five and revente nothing.
With three minutes and fifty five seconds excuse me, three

(01:11:01):
minutes and fifty eight seconds to play before the half.
That Norseman drive went five plays, thirty five yards, took
one minute, two seconds and capped by the Colin Bartos
twenty two yard touchdown run. The extra point is no
good and our score is North Muskegan twenty five and
revented nothing at this point. The Bulldox searcher for answers.

Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Yeah, it's been just a.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
Complete disaster in the first half, is all you can
really say. For Ravanna. Again, it just makes you wonder.
Early on, they it seems like they too quickly. They
went away from Dylan May at quarterback, bringing in Jackson Wilburn,
the sophomore for kind of a wild card look. But
May really hasn't been the problem. It's been the dropped

(01:11:54):
passes have been more of a problem. And really the
biggest problem is just this North Muskegan defense just too fast,
too athletic, and too ready to play. So you know,
you look at it a little bit, Jay and North
Muskegan I think they have some motivation. You know, last
time they played Ravanna here, Ravanna beat them on this field,

(01:12:16):
and the North Muskegan was heavily favored in that game.
They look more motivated here tonight than the Bulldogs.

Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
Of course, two years ago, in the regular season they
played here at Fred Jacksfield, North Muskegan won to win
the league, but then Ravenna came back in the playoffs
and beat them and ended their season. The kickoff is short,
high end over and Derek Finley takes it and has
dropped immediately at the thirty five yard line. So that's
where the Bulldogs will go to work. And you talk
about this conference winning streak for North Mschigan, which is

(01:12:42):
so impressive. They're looking for their seventeenth straight rivers Division
win and well on their way to getting it. Do
you know that that is only the fourth best in
program history? Tom Kendra twenty two straight wins in the
West Michigan Conference between nineteen sixty eight nineteen seventy two,
twenty straight between nineteen fifty one and nineteen fifty and
nineteenth straight from nineteen seventy eight to nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Wow, that's some impressive research. Jason Hutton, I would say
that you were able to dig that up. But North
Munschi and they have had some great football tradition here
through the years, and this is one of their oldest
rivalries against Ravanna. But very interesting how even this has
been in the last what thirty one and thirty one

(01:13:24):
since nineteen sixty one, so it's been very even rivalry
as well.

Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
Dylan made a pass on first down and it's incomplete
over the head of Finley and then just behind a
Carson van EN's two bulldogs in the vicinity, but it
falls to the ground.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
Second attempt, Yeah, dangerous throw that time, probably could have
been intercepted there, but it falls harmlessly to the turf.
You know, Ravanna now in a whole different situation here
down four scorers, even though the biggest problem for North
Muskegan is they haven't done very well on those point
afters the initial After the initial touchdown, they were able

(01:14:02):
to convert the extra point, but since then they've been
going by six. So that's why we have our twenty
five to nothing score.

Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Second down to ten Coleman and Johnson out to the right.
May's gonna roll that way. Finally flushed, still on his
feet at the thirty. Now he's gonna throw late incomplete
there to knock it down was Drew Bartows. I thought
May was gonna run it. He did it the last second.

(01:14:32):
Throw it.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Again.

Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Dylan May just a junior, great size and a great
arm six five. I think Ravenna needs to stick with
this kid. I think he gives him their best chance.
But yeah, he's not known as a runner, but that
time he seemed pretty elusive there he was able to
evade the rush and then get rid of the ball.
But yeah, again, just a tall order coming in here

(01:15:01):
against this North Muskegan defense led by Brian Ripstro defensive coordinator.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
Here for a.

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
North Muskegan does a great job, and he's really got
him playing well.

Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Clinton Villa Pondo the junior number sixty seven, able to
apply the late pressure there, force made to throw it
and on third down, May is gonna roll right, got
lots of time now still looking finally throwing incomplete, trying
to get it to Finley's. Good coverage by Henry Husman
three consecutive incomplete passes in his fourth and tent.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
You look at a play like that, Jay, Just great
coverage by the North Muskegan secondary.

Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
I mean nobody opened.

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Dylan May had plenty of time to throw the ball,
but just nobody opened back there. Just great coverage. Colin
Bartos is the safety back there. Jaden Villa Pondo one
of the corners, Christian Thomas back in coverage.

Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
So yeah, just keep saying it. On both sides of
the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
The athletic ability of North Muskegan is just way too
much for Ravenna.

Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
Three minutes, thirty seven seconds to play. Second quarter, North
Muschigan twenty five reven and nothing. May back to punt
for the sixth time, and this one is blocked. Henry
Husman blocks it. Hustman scoops it up and he returns
it inside the five. Dylan May saves the touchdown to
the four yard line. And there's no special teams again. Tom.
They blocked a punt that set up a touchdown on

(01:16:21):
the win against Mason County Central. They nearly blocked one
earlier in this quarter, and this time big Henry Hussman
got there and did it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Everybody's getting involved now for North muskeg And we saw
Land and Grim take it sixty six yards for a touchdown.
Colin Bartos that time, Henry Hussman, the big offensive lineman
and middle linebacker, breaks through, makes a great play, blocking

(01:16:49):
that punt and almost taking it to the house.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Stopped at the four yard line.

Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
And this is the fifth possession of the half for
North Muschigan that starts on the Bulldog's side the field,
and this by far the best starting field position at
the four yard line. And at first down, Colbert gives
it to Thomas right up the middle. Thomas pushing his way,
he will not get there, Stopped at about the one,
setting up a second goal.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Yeah, that time the Ravana defense digs in a little bit,
does get a stop. But yeah, not much to cheer for.
They got a decent crowd over there from Ravanna. They
came into this game four and two, you know, with
a little bit of momentum thinking they, you know, maybe
have a chance for the upset, and nothing has gone
right for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
So make it second and goal from the two. After
two yards on first down, what's gonna throw for it?
Pump fake now rolling left still on his feet and
throwing it into the end zone. The pass is caught
by Buyer for a touchdown. But we have a penalty
flag and this is holding on North Muskegan. So this
will be the second touchdown for the Norseman that comes
off the board due to a holding call.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
I guess if you had to nitpick about anything, Jay,
it might be too many penalties all of a sudden
in the second quarter for North Muskegan, and then the
failure to convert extra points. But again that's nitpicking because
it's been an impressive all around performance.

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
So the penalty is gonna bring the ball back to
the twelve yard line. It'll be second down in goal
from the twelve. Now for North Muskegan, we'll see sophomore
Colin Barto's return to the game as h back Chuck
Byers checks out, so Thomas the senior will go out
to the slot on the left Buyer to split out

(01:18:40):
wide left, Colin Bartos and Drew Bartos split right. Colbert
straight back to pass, steps up of the pocket looking
for the end zone incomplete landing. Grim was the receiver.
He was hung out a little bit there, and Derek
Finley lowered the boom on him. It'll be third and goal.

Speaker 2 (01:18:58):
Yeah, good play that time, good sportsmanship there by landing
Grim and uh and Finley there. Ravanna would love at
this point, obviously to keep him out of the end zone.
That would be a little bit of something for them
to take into the halftime.

Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Well, Grim was up in the air there and Finley
hit him pretty solid, and Grim bounced right back up
and let him know, Hey, good hit. I'm good to go.
Let's make Let's go to the next play. Third and
goal from the twelve. Chuck Myers is back in there.
Grim and Drew Bartos split to the right byered out
to the left. Myers is the h back on the
left side. Thomas is in the backfield to Colbert's left.

(01:19:35):
Colbert to throw now, He's gonna step up and throw
to the right. He's got a wide open receiver in
the end zone for a touchdown. Chuck Myers and North
Muskegan is running away and hiding.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
Wow. I just can't say enough about Bryce Colbert.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
You know we're coming into this game talking about North
Muskeigan losing James Young in the offseason, but this Bryce
Colbert is very comfortable. You look at a play like that,
you know nobody opened initially scrambles out, thinks about running,
and then.

Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Just great vision of the field. Saw the.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Ravenna defender came up to make a play on him,
leaving Chuck Myers wide.

Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Opening the end zone for the pass high.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Snap on the extra point, Colin Bartow's gonna run and
Colin Barto's gonna score into the end zone for two
point conversion. I'm not sure if that was a fake.
It looked like a little bit of a high snap,
but Bartos just stood up ran with it, and he's
in for the two point conversion and that gets back
one of the three missed extra points for North Muskegan.
So our score the Norseman thirty three reven and nothing,

(01:20:42):
two to seven to play before the half. This is
the LMCU Lake Shore game of the weekend. Won a seven.
Mus the Moose. We'll be right back. You want to
talk weapons North Muskegon has had five different players score
touchdowns in the first half. Drew Barr's touchdown reception, Hunter
Wilder touchdown run, Land and Grim touchdown reception, Colin Bartow's

(01:21:05):
touchdown run, Chuck Myers touchdown reception. It's North Muskegan thirty
three and revented nothing, Norse kicking off. Schmid's kick is
high and short. Finley calls for a fair catch at
his own twenty eight yard line, and the Bulldogs will
go to work there, try to get something going here
before the half. They have not crossed midfield in this

(01:21:26):
football game, and they find themselves down thirty three points.

Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
Yeah, get quick look at the rapid radio scoreboard. Kind
of looking ahead to our game next week, Big one
Muskegan going to Byron Center, trying to keep their playoff
hopes alive. Both of these teams having huge nights tonight
right now. Muskegan all over Reese Puffer twenty six to
nothing at Hackley Stadium. Also Byron Center thirty to ten

(01:21:53):
over Forest Hills Northern. So both of those teams playing great.
It's gonna be a showdown next week at Byron Center.

Speaker 1 (01:22:00):
I'm first down. Dylan May throwing caught by Jacobe Coleman.
Now they say incomplete the ball came out ball on
the far side of the field. The official rules at
an incomplete pass and once again tom a well thrown
ball by Dylan May that somebody in White Jersey couldn't
come down with.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
There's been a lot of them. There's been a lot
of them. Yeah, my different players. Again, I've been impressed
with May. I'm glad to see they're sticking with him again.
I think he gives them their best chance to win.
They're not gonna win this game, but in many games
he gives them their best chance to move the ball.
But a big hit again by the North of m
Skeigan defense.

Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
Second down and ten, and now they're gonna hand it
to rollas in up the middle and this will be
their best running player of the night. As Rolison gets
it over the thirty five to the thirty six seven yards,
it'll be third down and three.

Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Yeah, Roless in just a sophomore, he's been seen action
on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Found a little bit of room running up the middle.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
Because you know they got big Kale Gundhy there in
the middle at nosegar, big number seventy nine for North Muskegan.
Takes up a lot of room there in the middle,
not a lot of room to get around.

Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
Him, Jackson Willburn, they're outstanding sophomore slot receivers. Over on
the sideline being looked at. We've got Finley playing the slot.
Here's the gift to Roles to run up the middle.
He's close to a first down, but he's about a
yard short at the thirty eight yard line. Villa Pondo,
Clint Villa Pondo makes the tackle.

Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
Yes, you're right, he's a yard short there. I think
not much of a choice here for Ravanna. They are
already down thirty three to nothing. They can't just keep
giving the ball back to North Muskegan.

Speaker 1 (01:23:40):
The Norsemen have Velapondo on the defensive line along with
Calee Gundy and Owen Booth in part of their three
to five defense. Fourth and one, the clock is running
now forty nine seconds to play before the half. Reven
of taking their time here, the last thing they want
to do is turn them ball over on downs and
give up another score before the half. So on fourth
and one, the lineup to go for it, and they
had to roll us up to Millie's got a first

(01:24:01):
down across the forty to the forty three yard line.
Give him six yards and the Bulldogs will have to
go here. Thirty seven seconds to play in the half.
Both teams have two timeouts remaining, and this has been
the first, I believe, just the second first down of
the game for Revene.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Yeah, give some credit.

Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
Nice blocking up front, Austin Millis, the sophomore center, Brendan
Buzzkirk junior guard, Jackson Peebles, senior guard, making just enough
room to get that first down.

Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
To give now is to Isaac Corson, this senior number
twenty one, who normally plays h back in there at
running back. He gets about two to the forty six
and we'll have a timeout on the field. You know,
it's an interesting time we talk about how this series
between reven and Northman scheme has been so even. Since

(01:24:53):
nineteen sixty one, each team has won thirty one times.
But since nineteen ninety two, Revene is twenty six and
seven against North Michigan. And that's just right about the
time one Dusty Fairfield got to lead the Bulldogs.

Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
Yeah, no question, what a golden era for Ravanna football.
I mean, some of those great teams four state championships.
I remember some of those memorable runs to the first
the Pontiac Silverdome and then ford Field. But Benny Clark,
you remember a key part of that, those Ravanna teams.

(01:25:27):
But it was this league, the West Michigan Conference, it
was always the Blues back in those days. It was Ravanna,
oak Ridge and Montague were always the three teams. And
North Miskegan, Yeah, they struggled during those years.

Speaker 1 (01:25:44):
How I look at it, North Mischein has won the
West Michigan Conference twenty times, twenty Ravenna four. But all
those years they had those great teams under Dusty Fairfield.
They would always finish second toe Gridge.

Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
That's right, they would.

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Oakridge would win the conference title, Ravanna would win the
state title.

Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
Second down and eight, we're ready to zoom play Dylan
May and the gun wants to throw with time, looking
deep to the right hand side for finley, ball behind
him and incomplete. Twelve seconds to play in the opening quarter.
That timeout was called by the Bulldogs. They have one remaining.
It'll be third down and eight from their own forty
six yard line. Twelve seconds likely two plays, maybe three.

(01:26:24):
As we're gonna holds one timeout.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Yeah, Ravana's just trying to get something positive here before
they go into the half, because there hasn't been many
positives for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 3 (01:26:35):
The only thing preventing a running clock in the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
To start the second half is there a struggles on
a point after touchdowns, so.

Speaker 1 (01:26:44):
Will burn out. Finley is playing the slot, Courson's in
the backfield and he gets the ball, he runs up
the middle for a yard maybe two, and we'll see
if Justin Ego calls his final time out. I don't
think he's gonna this one's gonna run out the clock
or is he gonna call it for one more play
that's gonna do it. They're gonna let the half run out,
and our score at the break reads North Muskegan thirty

(01:27:07):
three Revenna nothing. Stay tuned because coming up after a
short time out, we have the preferred Automotive halftime show.
We'll check first half stats and scoring summary, and we're
going live to John Ard at Whitehall. That's when we
return on the LMCU Lake Shore Game of the Week

Preferred driving our community. Let's take a look at how
the scoring went down in this first half. It was

(01:27:55):
the Norseman on their opening possession with a nineteen yard
touchdown pass from Bryce Colbert to Drew Bartos. The extra
point made it seven to nothing with six fifty six
to play in the opening quarter. Then, with just twenty
seven seconds to play in the opening quarter, junior running
back Hunter Wilder scored on a one yard touchdown run
after a thirty four yard pass from Colbert to t
J Byerd. Extra point no good. It was thirteen nothing Norsemen.

(01:28:18):
With six minutes and thirty seconds to play in the
second quarter, Landon Grim caught a short pass at the
line of scrimmage and took it sixty six yards for
a touchdown. North Muskegan tried to fake the extra point
go for two. That was no good. It was nineteen
to nothing with three poin fifty eight to play. In
the second quarter, Colin Bartos with a great run twenty
two yards for a score, extra point again, no good,

(01:28:38):
twenty five nothing North Muskegan, and then with just two
to eleven to play in the half, Chuck Myers a
twelve yard touchdown catch from Bryce Colbert, the junior quarterbacks
third touchdown pass to the first half. The extra point
a two point conversion run by Colin Bartos made it
thirty three to nothing, and that's where we sit at
the half. Our first half scoring summary brought to you

to the Lakeshore Spotlight scoreboard update. John Arder standing by
live in Whitehall High School with an update on the
Orioles and the Vikings John take it.

Speaker 5 (01:29:41):
Away recording from Whitehall High School. This is the game
reporter John Arder with a lake short spotlight game halftime
report on one O seven mus here tonight. The score
is Whitehall thirteen and Loveyton three at the half. This
report is presented by Brayburn Wealth Management. Give Mike Polman
staff call to plan your successful financial future. Here's what

(01:30:04):
happened in the first half. Luddington took the opening kickoff
and drove to the Whitehall thirty five, where they turned
it over on downs. Whitehall took over drove the field
for a sixty five yard scoring drive. Running Back Gavin
Craaner scored on a three yard touchdown run at the
two fifty eight mark for the first quarter and it
was seven uh in Whitehall. Luddington had good field position

(01:30:27):
on their second possession as they took the onst doing
kickoff and returned it to the forty two, added a
personal follow on Whitehall and then moved the ball to
the white Hall forty two to start their drive. The
Oriols were able to drive down to the white Hall sixteen,
where the Viking defense stiffened up, and then on fourth
and seven, kicker Jonaph Peterson kicked a thirty three yard

(01:30:49):
field goal with ten to thirty sixth left in the
half and it was Whitehall seven Lunnington three. Then Luddington
kicked off and the Orioles recovered it on the white
Hall twenty seven. Just like a turnover. The Viking defense
held and took over on their own thirty thix. Whitehall
drove the field, powered by running back Gavin Krainer. Crainer

(01:31:10):
had runs of fifteen and twenty one yards on the drive,
then finished the drive off with a thirteen yard touchdown run.
The kick failed and with five forty nine left and
a half, it was Whitehall thirteen, Luddy's in three, and
that is where we are at halftime, thirteen three Whitehall.
This is John rd At reporting from Whitehall High School.

Speaker 1 (01:31:33):
Great job, John Ard, and thanks for that report. I
gotta be honest, a lot less points in that game
than I expected, Whitehall leading Luddington thirteen to three to
two very explosive offenses in that game, but just sixteen
total points in the first half. Here we've got thirty
three points in the first half. North Michigan has all
of them. They lead revent a big here on their

(01:31:53):
way to a third straight outright West Michigan Conference River's
Division title. This is the preferred Automotive halftime show. We'll
take a break. When we come back, we take a
look at some of the first half stats and checker
Rapid Radios scoreboard update. This is the ELMSU Lake Short
Game of the weekend one oh seven m us the
Moose North Miskegan thirty three revented nothing. We're at the

(01:32:16):
hap in the ELMSU Lake Short Game of the week
All Norseman in our first half. Jason on alongside Tom
Kendra and while we have a minute, Tom, let's take
a look at our Rapid Radio scoreboard update.

Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
All right, we'll start off in the ok Green. A
couple of lopsided scores there. Muskegan looks like Shane Fairfield's
gonna get win number one fifty seven be the all
time winning as coach at Muskegan. Big Reds twenty six
Reespuffer nothing, Mona Shore is also no problem with win
less Grand Rapids Union.

Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
They lead thirty five to nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
It's East Kentwood fourteen, Grand Haven nothing in the Okay,
Red over in the Okay, White Hamilton seventeen Spring Lake
seven close game in the ok Silver last score. We
have Hopkins seven, fruit Port six Wild one going on
Jay and the WMC Lakes Manti You twenty eight, Fremont

(01:33:07):
twenty four. So crazy game down there. How about the
Muskegan Catholic Central Crusaders just one in four this year
they're hosting Frankfurt which is five and one, but Muskegan
Catholic leads that game sixteen to fourteen. So the Crusaders
playing for pride maybe a little bit today.

Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
The fighting Tom Kendris showed up to me.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
There you go, and then Belding.

Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
They lead at Oakridge twenty four to three.

Speaker 1 (01:33:36):

(01:33:57):
Well the stats are pretty one sided here, Tom, but
let's take a peek at.

Speaker 2 (01:34:01):
What went down that first half. Well, again, North Muskegan
just doing anything. They wanted really in this game. But
the stat that jumps out is the trigger man, the
junior quarterback, the lefty, Bryce Colbert. He's the guy we
were wondering about coming into tonight, really coming into this season,
everyone was wondering he had to step in when James

(01:34:24):
Young transferred to Muskegan.

Speaker 3 (01:34:26):
But what a job he's done.

Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Just look at his numbers tonight halfway through the game,
ten of seventeen for two hundred and thirty seven yards,
three touchdowns, no interceptions. So let's add it up quickly
for the year for the junior Bryce Colbert, he's a
seventy nine of one to twenty five. The total yardage

(01:34:50):
one two hundred and fifty yards, touchdowns, sixteen touchdowns, zero interceptions.
I would say that's a pretty good quarterback rating when
you Jason Huttons.

Speaker 1 (01:35:02):
Zero interceptions is going to make him a star in
these parts. That's for sure. Taking care of the football
and that's why the Norse are on their way to
a six straight win this season.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Yeah, and you look at the receiving Land and Grim
he had that big sixty six touchdown reception. He's the
leading receiver so far. The senior three catches ninety eight yards.

Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
As far as the.

Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Running game goes, Hunter Wilder four rushes for thirty five yards,
two touchdowns, and then Coulin Bartos, the sophomore, three rushes
for thirty three yards and a touchdown. As impressive as
Northmuskegon has been on the offensive side of the ball,
the Norse have been every bit as impressive defensively, and

(01:35:45):
the leaders the ring leaders of the defense have been
the two senior inside linebackers, Chuck Myers and Henry Hussman.
They both have five tackles in this game. Hussman also
has a blocked punt, and he blocked the punt and
he recovered the punt, setting up a twelve yard touchdown
pass from Colbert to Myers, which capped the scoring in

(01:36:08):
the first half. So looking at the stats, completely one
sided dominated by North Muskegan, which isn't surprising when you
look at the scoreboard, thirty three to nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
What's two points away from what would be a running
clock in the second half. A lead of thirty five
points or more, the clock would only stop on injuries,
timeouts and change a possession. The North Moschgans had some
trouble with their point after touchdowns tonight and that's why
we said thirty three to nothing. But the Norse will
get the football to start the second half. We'll step
aside here. We'll come back with some keys to the

(01:36:42):
second half and have the kickoff to the final twenty
four minutes of this one. This is the LMCU Lake
Shore Game of the Week on one of seven mus
the Moose, Jason and Tom Kendra at the half at
Fred Jack's Field, North Muskegan thirty three and reventa nothing.
We look ahead of this second halftime. Obviously the Bulldogs

(01:37:05):
have a huge mountain to climb down. Thirty three. Some
keys to victory for each team here in this final
twenty four minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:37:10):
Well, for Ravana, the key to try to do something
and get back in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
They need to catch the football.

Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
I think they need to stick with Dylan May at
quarterback and you know, try to when he delivers the ball,
which he has been try to catch it and make
something happen because nothing else is working for North was
Skigans just a matter of not hurting themselves. Really, they've
had a lot of penalties there in the second quarter.
I think if they just take care of the ball

(01:37:37):
and basically grind out this victory.

Speaker 1 (01:37:40):
It's been interesting. I've talked all night long about how
great North Looking special teams have been, and they've been
good tonight. They've blocked the putt, they nearly not blocked another.
They've had good returns. They've started almost every possession on
the plus side of the field. But they're extra points.
They've struggled on their extra points. They are just one
for four kicking extra points in this game or one.
So that's the difference between a running clock and no

(01:38:03):
running clock. But the Norsemen are going to get the
football to start the second half. They have punted a
couple of times tonight, but they've had excellent field position
and this will be our first time seeing their kick
return unit because of course they kicked off to start
the game and the Bulldogs haven't scored yet. So what
do you think if you're just an ego, what do

(01:38:23):
you got to lose? Come out here and try to outside.
Can't get it back because last time I do is
give it to Bryce Colbert and this crew.

Speaker 3 (01:38:28):
Yeah, that would be interesting. I guess I hadn't.

Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
Even thought of that, but hey, what the heck? They
do have nothing to lose at this point, you know,
I'm just thinking about North Mskegan. Here we were looking
just briefly there at the our buddy snooze with his
you know, projected distrets. This is the time of the
year you start looking at things like that. And what
do you think, Jaya, This North Miskeigan team in Division seven,

(01:38:52):
you know they for I look at this team for
Division seven team as a very very dangerous Oh.

Speaker 1 (01:38:59):
I agree, I totally agree. A northm Schigan was what
they can do. It's we talked about this before we
went on today November and Michigan. The weather is not
gonna be great, and so you're gonna have to win
football games in the mud. I mean these days there's
less and less mud because it's more field turf, but
still with heavy wins, potential rain and even snow, you're

(01:39:19):
gonna have to run the football between the tackles. Tough, physical,
and you had mentioned earlier North Muschigan kind of has
this reputation as not being tough. I would tend to
disagree because last year they beat about as tough a
program as I can think of Paama Westvalia twice, including
in the playoffs. And I don't I think this team
can run the football. North m Schigon three really good
running backs, a good offensive line. I think this team's

(01:39:41):
built for November.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
Yeah, and they they proved some things last year those
back to back wins over Lawton and Poamo Westphalia, two
great programs. So they proved they belonged last year making
it all the way to the Semis. And I believe
this team, especially as impressive as Bryce Colbert has been
at that quarterback position, they've got a chance to get

(01:40:03):
back there.

Speaker 1 (01:40:05):
Well. Not only did Revena not trying on side kick
to start the second if they kicked the ball out
of bounds, So North Muskegan is going to get it
on their own thirty five yard line to start first
down and ten, and we will see Bryce Colbert tj
Byerd Hunter. Wilder landed Grim for at least one series
here in the second half, we'll see what they do

(01:40:26):
with it. Grim is in the slot on the right
and he's in motion. They fake to give to him
and run the option. They pitch it to Wilder. Wilder
cuts it back at the forties the forty five and
spun down at the forty seven twelve yards on first
down for the junior.

Speaker 2 (01:40:41):
Yeah, great job running the option that time by Bryce Colbert.
We's talked about his passing two hundred and thirty seven
passing yards in the first half, but how about that option.

Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
He did a great job.

Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
Waited, waited as soon as the defensive end committed. He
had a perfect pitch there to Hunter wild who's a
he's a load. He is a big running back and
he's scary coming right at you there.

Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
First down, Grim is in the slot on the left
and they're gonna run Wilder off right tackle, and he
turns the corner into revent A territory and out of
bounds at about the forty three yard line, very close
to a first down. In fact, I think he'll have it,
and I'll tell you I agree with you. Tom number
five in blue is a good looking running back. And

(01:41:27):
they do split time with the three different ball carriers
because they all start on defense. But I like all
of them.

Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
Yeah, Hunter Wilder seems like more of the power guy
back there. Kulin Bartos is a you know, maybe maybe
a little bit more elusive and but a great one
two punch.

Speaker 1 (01:41:46):
Here's Wilder on first and ten. He's hit and dropped
after about two nice play by Derek Finley, you know,
to get lost because this game has not been competitive
and the Bulldogs are down big. But Derek Finley is
an outstanding player, a senior. The guy's played a lot
of arcity football for event. It makes a nice play there.

Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
Yeah, nice job coming up and making a hit on
a tough running back to bring down.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
But you know, you look at Ravanna coming into this game.
Four and two.

Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Obviously they're gonna lose this game to be four and three?
Can they get into the playoffs?

Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
Shay? Can they get a rematch with North Muskegan.

Speaker 2 (01:42:21):
They have a they have to play at oak Ridge
next week, then they host Montague, so it's gonna be tough.
I think five wins would get the Bulldogs in.

Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
I think both of those games would be close games,
at least on paper. They look that way. On second down,
Cobert throwing complete to Drew Bartos Bartos inside the thirty
and all the way down to the twenty eight yard line.
Thirteen more for North Muskegan and the Norseman move the
chains again.

Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
You know there's another tough guy to tackle in the
open field.

Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
He's a big boy.

Speaker 2 (01:42:50):
Drew Bartos, cullens older brother plays sort of that h
back position, a little bit of tight end. They use
them all over the place, and you know when he
catches the ball out there, he's a tough guy to.

Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
Bring down in the open field.

Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
Clock runs at ten minutes in fourteen seconds to play.
In the third quarter. North Muskegan the leading raven of
thirty three to nothing. It's been all blue and gold tonight.
First and ten of the twenty eight. Grim goes in
motion and Colbert's gonna pitch it to Tristan Thomas. The
seniors checked in at running back. Thomas to the twenty five,
still on his feet at twenty cuts it back to

(01:43:26):
the fifteen. Tristan Thomas has got a first down and
eleven yard game as they spot him at the sixteen.

Speaker 2 (01:43:33):
Wow, another good runner. We talked about the three. So
if if Wilder is the uh thunder, and then we
call Colen Bartos the lightning, then what do you call
Tristan Thomas electric? Okay, yeah, you're right, that's a you know,
the one concern with North Muskegan. We saw a couple

(01:43:54):
of their linemen hobble out earlier and been able to
get back in the game. But that's that's a concern
if they're not deep on the line.

Speaker 1 (01:44:03):
Thomas gets to carry running right, he's inside the ten.
Thomas to the five and into the end zone. Make
it six different Norsemen to score touchdowns. And with nine
to twenty six to play in the second quarter, North
Muskegan's ahead by thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
Wow, what the second half begins just like the first
half did with North Muskegan just dominating. I guess the
difference the first half they did it through the air,
that time on the ground, using their many weapons running
the ball. And now we should have a running clock
here at Fred Jack's Field.

Speaker 1 (01:44:41):
Nine minutes twenty six seconds to play in the third quarter.
We're about to start a running clock. North Muskegan forty
revent and nothing. A reminder that the third quarter is
brought to you by Kids Food Basket, our official nonprofit
for the LMCU high school football Game of the Week
in this regular season, every touchdown scored during our games
of the Week, LMC would generously donate fifty dollars the
Kids Food Basket to nourish local kids to reach their

(01:45:03):
full potential. That is six touchdowns in this game, all
for North Muskegan. That's three hundred more dollars donated to
kids' food basket. Grim is gonna kick it deep for
North Muskegan. Carson van Ens will take it at his
own twelve yard line. Ven Enz cuts left, he's out

(01:45:23):
to the twenty four. We have a flag down right
where the tackle was made. This usually is not good
for the return team, but the clock will run despite
the penalty flag because of the forty point difference.

Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Yeah, looking at this game, Jay, I don't think anyone
is surprised that North Muskegan is winning this game. But
I think just the way they've dominated this game forty
to nothing, I don't think anyone expected that I'm this
one sided of a game. But North Muskegan has been very,

(01:45:57):
very impressive. There is good as advertised.

Speaker 1 (01:46:03):
I would argue to say this is one of the
best games they've played this season. They've been really good
in all three phases. And after the penalty on Ravenna,
the return team to all be backed up to the
fourteen yard line, so the Bulldogs go to work. And
if you're just an Ego and company, you're just trying
to find something here. Right offensively, You've got two huge
games left, non divisional games. Against Okra Jamonigu. You're gonna

(01:46:25):
have to win at least one of them, and you're
gonna need offensively to find a rhythm. First and ten
of the fourteen, May and the gun. He's gonna hand
it off to Finley Finley with a nice hole running
across the twenty and out to the twenty one yard line.
Give Derek Finley seven yards on first down.

Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
That's one of the first times we've seen any kind
of running room for Ravanna's a positive yardage on first down.
You know, we've seen so many no gains on first down,
maybe just a one or two yard gain. That's the
first time we've actually seen them be able to make
a good first down run.

Speaker 1 (01:47:04):
Eight minutes, five seconds to play, third quarter, North Muskegan
forty revene nothing, May and the gun. On second down
in three He's got Finley to his left. He gives
it to Finley. Finley hit by Chuck Myers and ripped
down to the ground after a body yard it or'll
be third down and short. But Number one an All
State performer last year at linebacker, showing why on that play.

Speaker 2 (01:47:24):
Yeah, you look at Chuck Myers, great athletic ability, but
plus he's six ' five. I mean he's he's just
grown into a sort of a monster there in the
middle for North muskeg and him and Henry Hussman, they
really plug up the middle. And then the the quicker
guys on the edges, Drew Bartows, Tristan Thomas make it
tough to run the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
And make it Hunter Wilder to finish out that three
to five. Those five linebackers are outstanding for North Muskegan.
And on third down, the Revener runs up the middle
and I don't think they got the first down like
it was Dylan May the quarterback. Who cap it? They're
gonna spot it, They're gonna give it a first down.
A generous mark there. Put it at the twenty four

(01:48:04):
and move the chains. First down for Ravenna with seven
oh two to play in the third quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
Well, it's good to see Ravenna moving the sticks at least,
and you know they're wanting to get on the board here.
I'm sure that's what Justin Ego told his team at halftime. Again,
Justin Ego, in his fifth year here is Ravanna's head coach.
You know it was thirty three to nothing at halftime,
I'm sure he's not saying, hey, let's come back and
win this game, but how about let's win the second half.

(01:48:32):
Right now, they're losing the second half seven nothing, trying
to get something going.

Speaker 1 (01:48:37):
And then first down they're going to hand the bout
at number twenty Blake Edie. First time we've seen the
sophomore Tonight. Edie's got about a yard of the twenty
five yard line. We've talked about the Bulldogs. They'll go
to oak Ridge next Friday night and then finish out
the regular season at home against Montague. For North of Micechigan,
they were scheduled to play Holton next week. The Red
Devils are not finishing the season at the varsity level,

(01:48:59):
so the Norsemen do not have a game scheduled for
next week currently. We talked about how some of their
linemen have been banged up a little bit, but also
you only get so many Friday nights, so there's a
balance there trying to find a game but also getting
rest for your guys that are beat up before they
go Week nine, when the Norsemen play at home. Here again,
Fred Jacksfield against oak Ridge, second down to nine, May's

(01:49:23):
pass is intercepted. Chuck Martin intercepts it at the Ravenna
thirty five yard line, and North Muskegan is dominating every phase.

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Yeah, how about the athletic ability Again, we said Chuck
Myers inside linebacker, he's six ' five, But what athletic
ability there diving to snare that pass from Dylan May
for the interception.

Speaker 3 (01:49:50):
That's the believe that's the first interception of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:49:54):
I think it's the first turnover.

Speaker 3 (01:49:55):
Tom, Yeah, okay, you're right.

Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
We did have the block punt, but as far as
actual turnal versus the first one.

Speaker 1 (01:50:01):
There are two things that happen when you and I
show up at a game. There's almost never any turnovers,
and the game's almost never close.

Speaker 3 (01:50:07):
Yes, yeah, we're dying.

Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
We're dying for a close game, some action down the stretch,
you know, back and forth game. Maybe next week at
Byron Center, m Skegan at Byron Center.

Speaker 1 (01:50:18):
North scheme will have it first in ten on the
raven of thirty four yard line, and we see some
new numbers out there. But Bryce Colbert still in. He's
going deep looking for Landing Graham and that one's gonna
be intercepted. Carson van Ens picks it off for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 2 (01:50:34):
His first interception of the scene is an after sixteen
touchdown passes Larry Withhams saying, what the heck are you doing?
That was a yeah, not a very good pass there.

Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
I will say this, Tom, if you're gonna throw an interception,
doing it when you're a head by forty is I
guess as good a time as you can do it.

Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
I suppose you're right, And hey, it gives them something
to coach about here next week. So yes, it's not
the end of the world by any by any means.

Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
So the Bulldogs will get the ball back on their
own ten yard line consecutive plays with an interception. First
it was Chuck Myers intercepting it for the Norseman, and
then Carson van EN's returning the favor for the Bulldogs.
On first down. They are going to fake the jet
sweeper on quarterback power and Dylan May has absolutely nowhere

(01:51:34):
to go. I think he lost a yard. Tristan Thomas
in there, Henry Hussman also in their fifty two Oliver Frickey.

Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
Looking at the Rapid Radio scoreboard. A couple of scores
a little bit further away from the lake store, but
West Catholic scores. They go ahead of Forest shows Eastern
twenty one seventeen. Can hear that game game in the
fourth quarter, ninety six point won the game and then
the the other game I had that just went away
from you. But Unity Christian don't have to score here.
But they're just forty three to twenty one over South Christian.

Speaker 1 (01:52:15):
Second and eleven. Reventer runs ball up the middle for
six yards out to the fifteen. Isaac corson the ball carry.
Hadn't seen him carry the ball for the Bulldogs this year,
but he moved from his h back position to running
back here a little bit, and he's gotten a few carries.
It'll be third down and five for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
See if they can come up with a third down
conversion here, Jay, Let's see if they let Dylan May
throw the ball, try to hook up with one of
his wideouts here.

Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
And here we see the versatility that North was kigging defense. Thomas,
an outside linebacker, drips back to almost play a safety position.
And then third down the pass is caught. Carson van
Enz has it all the way out to the forty
nine yard line. Nice pass from Dylan May Jaden Villapando
makes the tackle, but the Bulldogs move the chains on
a game of thirty three yards.

Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
Nice job that time by Dylan May. He had a
lot of protet.

Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
Update to the OK Red where Jennison leeds Caledonia twenty
to six after three and Hudsonville continues to leave Grandville
twenty one to ten after three and on first down,
the call goes to Brody Johnson on the jet sweep
and he is dropped big time after a gain of

(01:53:29):
a yard to midfield. It'll be second down of nine.

Speaker 2 (01:53:32):
That was Jaden Villa Ponda out there, the senior, the
senior cornerback.

Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
What a big hit.

Speaker 2 (01:53:39):
We've seen a lot of big hits by North Muskegan
in this game. Colin Bartos had one I remember on
fourth down coming up and hitting Chuck Myers Henry Hussman
that time. Villa Pondo with a big hit for the Norse.

Speaker 1 (01:53:52):
That's one of the things that makes this North Mischia
defense so good. They play five linebackers and then their
secondary players hit like linebackers. And on second down and nine,
the pass is caught Carson van Ens inside the forty
five to the forty four. It's gonna set up third
down and two tackle made that time by Jordan elam Ef.

Speaker 3 (01:54:15):
Yeah, little play that time. They just got the ball out.

Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
There quickly to Van ends and this is the uh,
the best we've seen the Ravanna offense. Look all night
here trailing forty to nothing. They would love to get
on the board at least once, right, Jay.

Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Absolutely, they would take a little momentum in the next
week's game at oak Ridge. One minute to play, third quarter,
North Muskegan forty reven and nothing. Handoff is a Derek
Finley running up the middle. He's got a first down
as he gets three. Do all right, let's have some
fun in a forty to nothing game time. I'm always
up for a challenge. Number sixty two is checked into
the game for North Muskegan, and I did not get
the heads up from head coach Larry with him when
I talked to him before the game. So let's do this,

(01:54:54):
Matt Lertrad Tan and Knackham.

Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
Sounds good to me.

Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
I don't I think it was even close. Is there
twenty letters in that last name?

Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
Yeah, that is.

Speaker 1 (01:55:07):
Dylan May with the pass complete to Jacoby Coleman down
to the thirty one he's right at the sticks, look
like they're gonna mark him my yard short and I'll
be the last play of the third quarter. Our score
north miskeg and forty reven and nothing will be back
with the final twelve minutes. Right after this. On the
LMCU Lake Short Game of the Week, I won a
seven m us the fourth quarter, Dylan May throwing incomplete

(01:55:32):
out of bounds. It'll second down in one and we'll
bring up third down and one Lurd Tratton nacken Ler
Trattonnach and we're going with Matt Lur trattonac and the
junior is checked into the game, or excuse me, senior
to play nose tackle here for the Norseman. Dylan May
in the gun on third and one. He's gonna hand
it off to Edie. He's got a first down inside

(01:55:53):
the thirty down to about the twenty nine yard line.
I'll tell you what, this game's not gonna end much,
if any sooner than a game without a running clock would.
We had a very long first half hour and fifteen
minute first half, so we're just playing a little catch
up here with the running clock.

Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
Yeah, looking ahead for Ravanna, they're gonna be playing Oakridge.
Oakridge is struggling as well. They're down thirty to three
at Belding. They're gonna drop to three and four, but
that is a big rivalry game.

Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
Ravanna and oak Ridge.

Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
Next week made a throw looking deep to the end
zone for Edie and it is income he had a
shot at it. There were three Norsemen defenders. But I'll
tell you what, that was a pretty well thrown football.
Tom oh no us shot at it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:38):
Yes, yeah, it was very well thrown, and he actually
dropped it right like dropped it in the bucket, right
in between three defenders.

Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
And Edie really should have caught that ball.

Speaker 1 (01:56:49):
I think you and I can agree that Dylan may
looks the part. I think so it's probably just an
off night for the receivers and some really good defense
by North Muskegan. But I think he's throwing the football
pretty well tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
Yeah, and being a junior, I mean, with his size,
Ravana is not gonna get many six to five quarterbacks
coming through.

Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
And they're gonna run Eadie over the left on second
down and ten EDI's hitting the backfield. He will now
get back to the line of scrimmage. Colin Bartos the
first a hit him, Henry Hussman finishes him off, and
it'll be up third down and twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
Against this North Muskegan defense, you can't hesitate him and
haw look around like Edie was on that run.

Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
These guys are just too fast.

Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
As soon as he's hesitated for a minute, bam, here
comes the defense and he was down well spot of it.

Speaker 1 (01:57:38):
To thirty one. It's a loss of two, third down
and twelve. Number eleven. Ace Anderson has checked into the
game for North Muskegan. Several starters are still on the
field for the Norse, though. Made to throw on third
and long, got the short pass complete, Aiden Ford caught it.

(01:58:00):
He's down to about the twenty five. It's gonna be
fourth down and six.

Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
And I'm sure Ravenna will go for it here trailing
forty to nothing, trying to get on the board. Have
something to show for this trip they made here down
to fred jacks Field certainly won't feel the way they
did the last time they were here when they upset
the Norse and the playoffs in twenty twenty two ten
to seven. Completely different ballgame tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:58:28):
We continue to see lots of sophomores and juniors on
the field for Revena eight and Ford is a tenth
grader just made that catch. We hadn't seen much of
him tonight before there. They will go for it balls
on the twenty six. They need the twenty yard line
for a first down. It is fourth and six and
May's going to roll to the right with time and
still has it throws late incomplete, trying to get it,

(01:58:51):
trying to get it to Brody Anderson. Really good coverage
out there by Jordan elam Ef. I'll tell you why.
Elom Eif has played a lot of corner as a
starting corner for North Mschigan this season. We saw a
lot of t J byern that spot tonight, but Elon
Meaf a really good player as a junior.

Speaker 2 (01:59:08):
Yeah, we've seen a lot of great play by the
defensive backfield for North Muskegan. We talked about the linebacking corps,
their secondary has been equally as impressive and pitching a shutout.

Speaker 3 (01:59:20):
That's uh, that's surprising.

Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
I think we thought North Muskegan would be able to
score some points. I thought Ravanna would score a few
points too, but so far they've got nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:59:33):
So the Norsemen start first and tend they're on twenty
six yard line. Clock continues around with seven to twenty
five to play. Bryce Colbert still in there, hands it
off up the middle for a gain of about four.
Keith Kurzman, the sophomore, comes in, gets the carry. As
we see Larry witham rotate some guys in just calling

(01:59:54):
up from the JV today. Drew Gabriel number twenty to
the sophomore. Now we'll check in at slot. Receiver is landing.
Grim checks out.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
And we're seeing a lot of clean, clean white pants
out there for the Norsemen, and that's good. They're getting
getting everyone into the game here tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
On second now they're running up the middle once again.
It's Keith Curzman gets a yard maybe two, bring up
third down. So North Moskigan next week tom no game
on the schedule. We talked to head coach Larry with
him and athletic director Jeff Cook. The schools that are
open that they're aware of at this point, Iron Mountain

(02:00:34):
from the up Pontiac, Notre Dame Prep on the east
side of Power in the state, and Division five. My
understanding is they reached out to Norre Dame Prep about
potentially playing, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet,
that would be quite a challenge for this very talented
North Mischigan team. They're running to Keith Curzman up the middle.

(02:00:55):
He's hit dropped game of a body yard. It'll be
fourth down, six minutes to play in the game, and
we have some awards to give out later tonight. I
just time to start thinking about that.

Speaker 3 (02:01:08):
We got a.

Speaker 2 (02:01:10):
Lot of good candidates on the North Muskegan side of
the ledger tonight. When it comes to play of the game,
player of the game, drive of the game.

Speaker 1 (02:01:17):
I mean, you're probably gonna have to give it to Colbert.
We'll see what we decide it. So many different guys
making plays. It's been a collective effort, truly for North Muskegan. Tonight,
I pick one.

Speaker 2 (02:01:28):
Well, I think what you just said is correct. So
many guys have made plays. They almost cancel each other out,
and you almost have to give it to the trigger
man of this offense, Colbert.

Speaker 3 (02:01:37):
But we'll see. That's why they pay me the big
bucks is to try to figure these things out.

Speaker 1 (02:01:42):
Jason Colbert's back to punt Jackson Willburn, the sophomore back
to receive his own thirty four yard line normally we
see Colbert drop back at the last second to punt
with a forty point lead, just the traditional punt formation.
Pretty good kick in a roll dead at the Norseman
thirty four yard line. So it's a thirty two yard punt,
no return, and with five minutes to go in the game,

(02:02:06):
the Bulldogs are gonna get one more possession.

Speaker 3 (02:02:11):
One more chance to get on the scoreboard here.

Speaker 2 (02:02:15):
But running clock, it's tick ticking away. Get ready in
a little bit here, try to come up with another
rapid radio scoreboard update for you. Lots of one sided

(02:02:35):
games here along the Lake Shore Tonight Mona Shore's forty
eight to nothing O Reunion.

Speaker 1 (02:02:42):
Whitehall Lightington were thirteen three at the half. We heard
from John Harder. Will hear from him in the high
School Scoreboard show with Bob Sach coming up after we
include here. Made a throw on first down passes and complete.
He was trying to get it out there to eight
and four.

Speaker 2 (02:03:00):
Looking for an update here from Hackley Stadium. The last
score we had was a Muskegan thirty three to seven
over Reese Buffer.

Speaker 1 (02:03:09):
Northview leads Growing Up It's Catholic Central twelve to three.
Two minutes and sixteen seconds to go. That would be
just the fourth home loss in the history of Cougar
Stadium for Catholic Central, which appears to be imminent.

Speaker 3 (02:03:22):
Wow, and what a win that would be for Northview.
What a story they are this year.

Speaker 1 (02:03:25):
Jay throw them in the mix and Division two TK.

Speaker 2 (02:03:29):
That's right, we already have a Mona shoors Muskegan trying
to get a playoff eligible.

Speaker 1 (02:03:35):
Caledunia's trailing Jennison today. They might be fighting for their
playoff lives here in the next couple weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:03:39):
That's a very good point. But Byron Center could be
in there. And yeah, Northview, especially with a win over
Grand Rapids CAFLIC that puts them in a whole new light.

Speaker 3 (02:03:52):
That would be a real impressive win.

Speaker 1 (02:03:54):
Ravenna loses three yards here on their second down play.
It will be third down and thirteen from their own
thirty one ticks, under three minutes to play in the
football game. Dylan May is still in there at quarterback
and he is gonna throw rolling to the right, no pressure.
Finally throws late complete to Courson. Courson out to the

(02:04:14):
forty yard line where he's brought down by my guy,
matt Ler Tratton Nakin nine yard game.

Speaker 3 (02:04:25):
Sounds like Zach Galifanakas or something like this.

Speaker 1 (02:04:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:04:30):
I'm just trying to keep all my papers together here. Jay,
it's like Hurricane Milton is blowing into the uh North
Muskegan press box.

Speaker 1 (02:04:37):
Here matt Ler Tratt Nakin two twenty four to play
in the game. It is fourth down and four for
the Bulldogs. Venerable drop to four and three. The Norse
will improve to six and one, six straight wins. They'll
win the Outright West Michigan Conference River's Division title for

(02:04:59):
the third consecutive season. May throws pass incomplete.

Speaker 2 (02:05:04):
And it looks like North Muskegan is gonna keep their
shutout intact. I can't imagine they're gonna try to do
too much more here. With the less than two minutes
to go, it could very well just be victory formation

(02:05:28):
here for the Norse.

Speaker 1 (02:05:31):
And the clock is running, so they're really only gonna
need to take two snaps and they'll be able to
do it. Bryce Colbert has checked out of the game,
as Beckett Hoppa, the sophomore, is in it. Quarterback Nope,
Landon Grim's gonna play quarterback the senior and he's gonna

(02:05:54):
hand it off. A little problem at the mesh there.
Not sure who has the ball. Oh he did hand
it up, Kurzman had it. He loses a couple of yards.
There'll be one more play here and that will end
the game. North Michigan will go to six and one.
It'll be seventeen straight West Michigan Conference Rivers Division games,
one by the norse One of those was a forfeit

(02:06:17):
against Holton two years ago, potentially another forfeit against Holton
next week. But they have not lost a game in
conference play since the West Michigan Conference expanded and split
into two divisions.

Speaker 2 (02:06:30):
Yeah no, no school has enjoyed this the change in
the West Michigan Conference more than the Norseman, no question
about that.

Speaker 1 (02:06:39):
Grim takes a knee that will end the game. North
Mischigan wins it forty to nothing. There your outright West
Michigan Conference Rivers Division champions for a third straight season.
Stay tuned for the Schaefer Schwartz PLC postgame show. We'll

(02:07:02):
be right back on the LMCU Lake Shore Game of
the Week on one of seven m us The Moose,
Jasontting and Tom Kendrick back at Fred Jacksfield. North Muskegan
beats Revena forty to nothing. The final. This is the
Shaper Schwartz PLC postgame show. If you've been injured in
an auto accident, make sure you have David Shaffer on
your side. David Shaffer born and raised in Muschigon County

(02:07:25):
and proud to be a supporter of high school football. Well, Tom,
it's hard to not be impressed with what we saw
from the Norseman tonight. We knew they had lots of weapons.
Bryce Colbert, their new junior quarterback, looked really good. I
thought the offensive line played well, but ultimately the defense
is what stood out to me.

Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
You're right, that's both sides of the ball super impressive. Obviously,
North Moschigan is the class of the West Michigan Conference
Rivers Division, no real question about that. But I'm leaving
here tonight saying this is a team that who knows
they could end up being the class of Division seven
before all is sudden done.

Speaker 1 (02:08:02):
I totally agree. Let's get a look at our final
scoring summary. The it all got started with six fifty
six to go in the first quarter, when Drew Bartows
caught a nineteen yard touchdown pass from Bryce Colbert to
make it seven to nothing. Then, with just twenty seven
seconds to play in the first quarter, Hunter Wilder, the
junior running back, scored from a yard out extra point
no good. North Miskegan led thirty to nothing with six

(02:08:23):
minutes and thirty seconds to play. In the second quarter,
Landon Grimm caught a sixty six yard touchdown pass from
Bryce Colbert. Extra point again no good, as they faked
it and tried to go for two. Nineteen to nothing
with three point fifty eight to play before the half,
Colin bartows a twenty two yard touchdown run. Once again
the extra point no good. North Muskegan led twenty five
to nothing with two to eleven to play in the

(02:08:45):
second quarter, Chuck Myers catches a twelve yard touchdown pass
from Bryce Colbert, made it thirty three to nothing North
Miskeigan at the half and our only points to the
second half. With nine to twenty six to play in
the third quarter, senior running back Tristan Thomas scored from
sixteen yards out. Extra point from Owen Booth makes it
forty to nothing and that's our final. MKD Funeral Homes

of the game time, Kendra.

Speaker 2 (02:09:32):
Yeah, and lots to choose from there for North Muskeg
and they had the six scoring drives or was it seven?

Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
Maybe it was seven.

Speaker 2 (02:09:40):
It was seven scoring drives, six to choose, six to
choose from, And uh, you're okay there, all right? Yeah,
we had a little You gotta watch yourself when you're
in this North Moschigan press box. There's just that ladder
coming straight straight down from the top. A little fall there,
but I think he's okay. So anyway, six scoring drives
to choose from, plenty of different options, we're gonna go with.

(02:10:03):
The first scoring drive for North Muskegan set the tone
for the whole game. It was went seven plays, seventy
five yards, using up two minutes and fifty six seconds.

Speaker 3 (02:10:14):
Of the clock.

Speaker 2 (02:10:15):
It ended with a nineteen yard touchdown pass from Bryce
Colbert to Drew bartow So again that happened with six
fifty six remaining in the first quarter, set the tone
for the game for North Muskegan.

Speaker 1 (02:10:30):
The drive of the game brought to you by Bet
and Chevrolet Cadillac GMC buick in Miskegan. The GM Giant
visit them on both sides of Henry Street today. We'll
take a break. We'll come back with plenty more on
the shape of Schwartz PLC postgame show. North Miskegan beats
Revenna forty to nothing. This is the LMCU Lake Shore
Game of the Week. On one of seven mus the
Moose North Muskegan forty rebent and nothing. The Norsemen have

(02:10:57):
won their third straight outright conference championship in the West
Michigan Conference Rivers Division. That's seventeen to oher since the
West Michigan Conference expanded and split into two divisions in
the River's Division. Play for North Mischigan. Jason and Tom
Kendra back on the Shaffer Schwartz PLC postgame show at
Fred Jack's Field, and it is time now for us
to choose our Blue water cabinetry design. Player of the

(02:11:20):
game Tom Kendra.

Speaker 2 (02:11:22):
Well again, just like the drive of the game, plenty
of choices from North Muskeg and they had just great athletes,
great performances all over the field. You know, Land and
Grim had a big night, a big a sixty six
yard touchdown catch. Both of the Bartows boys that thought
were very impressive. How about Chuck Myers and then the

(02:11:43):
Hunter Wilder, great running back. But the trigger man of
the whole thing was the junior quarterback Bryce Colbert. I
think I thought he set the tone for the game
in the first half. On that first drive he was
five for five if you remember, leading them for a touchdown,
and he threw for We never got the final stats.
O guy disappeared on us, but at the half Bryce

(02:12:07):
Colbert had already thrown for two hundred and thirty seven yards,
so probably over three hundred for the game.

Speaker 3 (02:12:12):
He did throw his first interception of.

Speaker 2 (02:12:14):
The year in the fourth quarter, so it wasn't all perfection,
but definitely a very impressive, solid effort using a lot
of different players, throwing it all over the field. That's
the junior lefty quarterback for North Muskegan, our Bluewater Cabinet
Dream Design Player of the game, Bryce Colbert.

Speaker 1 (02:12:32):
Well, he threw three touchdown passes in the first half
and that's what he finishes within the game to three
different receivers. Drew Bartos, Landing Grim and Chuck Myers all
caught scoring passes from the junior who is our Blue
Water and Cabinetry and Design Player of the game. Bluewater
Cabinetry and Designed the Lakeshore's trusted kitchen and bath provider,
Proud to be a supporter of high school football. Time

(02:12:55):
out to go to our play of the game, brought
to you by Mister Bee's Pancake House, Tom Kendra.

Speaker 2 (02:12:59):
And our play of the game will go way back
to early in the second quarter when this game was
still in doubt. It seems like a long time ago,
but it was a thirteen to nothing at that point.

Speaker 3 (02:13:08):
That was the score.

Speaker 2 (02:13:10):
North Muskegan led after the first quarter, and it looked
like they may be a Ravandam might be able to
get a stop and get the ball back, but Land
and Grim had other ideas. The senior slotman for North Muskegan,
he caught what seemed like just a very short little
slant pass, maybe a five yard pass from Bryce Colbert.

(02:13:30):
But then Land and Grim did the rest, some very
nifty moves, crossing all the way across the field and
ending up going sixty six yards for a touchdown to
make it nineteen to nothing in favor of North Muskegan.

Speaker 1 (02:13:42):
Let's hear how it sounded. So six fifty three to
play before the half. North Muschigan has the football first
and ten on its own thirty four yard line. Covid
out of the gun, throws out quickly to the left.
He's got Grim, who makes a man missing the backfield.
Now he's got a first down across the forty five
Grim into midfield. Oh look out, Landon Grim is gone.
Twenty ten touchdown, sixty six yard strike. That ball was

(02:14:08):
thrown behind the line of scrimmage and Land and Grim
turns it into a touchdown. The North Muskegan goes in
front nineteen to nothing, extra point pending the Mister Beets
Pancake House Play of the game. Mister Beas Pancake House
is celebrating fifty years of serving the Muskegan area. We're
gonna take one more time out on this Shae for

(02:14:30):
Schwartz PLC postgame show. We'll come back we'll have a
final rapid radio scoreboard update. We'll take a look ahead
to week eight of the high school football season. This
is the LMCU Lake Shore Game of the weekend, won
O seven mus the Moose. This is the Shae for
Schwartz PLC postgame show Jason alongside Tom Kendra. Where tonight
North Miskegan beats Rovenna forty to nothing, the final six

(02:14:54):
different Norsemen scoring touchdowns, All three of their outstanding running
back trio carried one in and junior quarterback Bryce Colbert
fined three different receivers on touchdown strikes as North Muskegan
wins the West Michigan Conference River's Division title outright for
a third straight season. Time for one final rapid radio
scoreboard update.

Speaker 2 (02:15:14):
Tom Kendra, Yeah, some interesting games going on here. How
about Muskegan Catholic Central. Last report, they were still leading
frank fort twenty four to twenty in the fourth quarter.
It's heart in that game that just came together. This week,
they're all over Orchard View forty four to eight. It's
Maniste sixteen, Shelby fourteen, Belding thirty, Oakridge three. In some

(02:15:38):
of the bigger schools in the area, Muskegan with a
statement tonight, huge win over Reese Buffer. Last score was
forty seven to seven. Lastcore at Mona Shores forty eight
to nothing over Grand Rapids Union. It was East Kentwood.
No problem with Grand Haven forty two to seven. Last
score we had was Hamilton twenty four Spring Lake seven.

(02:15:59):
In these Silver Hopkins twenty Fruitport six. Whitehall was in
a close game at halftime, but then pulling away from
Luddington in the second half. Forty seven to ten. Wild
wild game at Montague. Last score they lead Fremont forty
nine to forty. It's a big Rapids thirty four in
Newago fourteen and let me see how about Reed City

(02:16:23):
forty and grant nothing.

Speaker 1 (02:16:26):

So that puts a bow on Week seven of high

(02:16:47):
school football season. Tom we are off to wa dell
Field next Friday night. The Okgreen Byron Center and Muskegan
likely Mona Shores has wrapped up at least a share
of the title, and it would take a pretty big
upset for the Sailors to get beat next week. But
if for some reason that did happen, the Muskegan Byron
Center winner next week would share the title with Motor Shores.

(02:17:10):
But really this is about playoffs and Muskegan trying to
extend a very long streak.

Speaker 3 (02:17:15):
Yes, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:17:16):
You know, they were at one in three at one point,
rattled off a couple straight wins to get to three
and three.

Speaker 3 (02:17:23):
So then you look there they only have eight games.

Speaker 2 (02:17:26):
They had that last game against the powerhouse Cincinnati Moler
that's Friday the twenty fifth at Hackley Stadium. That game
has been moved to Friday night. But if you think, okay,
they may not be able to beat Moler, that makes
it a must win game when they play Byron Center,
you know, to try to get to four wins. I
think that should be enough for Muskegan to get in.

(02:17:49):
But definitely, without question, they must beat Byron Center next
week and that's not going to be easy to do.
Byron Center a very good team. They rolled tonight over
Forestills Northern. They just have that one loss, that narrow
loss to Mona Shorores. So what do you think, Jay,
Is this finally the week we're gonna see a good
down to the wire football game Askegan at Byron Center.

Speaker 1 (02:18:10):
I truly believe it. I do. I truly believe the
Byron Center Miskigan next week will be our game. I'll
tell you, miskegano Mona Shores in Week five was probably
the most fun game we've had to call this year.
It was a forty two to twenty seven to fifteen
point spread. But Miskeigan's been good to us. Their game
against Rockford in week two also a fun game to
call it twenty and twenty one game. So I do
believe we've got a really good one in store next

(02:18:31):
Friday night. And I also agree with you on the playoffs.
Three and five might actually end up getting Muskegan in,
but you don't want to risk that. I think four
and four they'd be in, but they're gonna have to
beat a really good team, at least one of them
in those final two weeks to make it happen. We'll
stay tuned for the High School Scoreboard show, Bob Sack
filling in tonight for Rick Burkey. We'll hear from John
Ard at our Lake Shore spotlight game between Whitehall and Lunington,

(02:18:53):
plus a lot of scores from Roam West Michigan and
other game reports from top area games. That's coming up
right after we're done here on one O seven MU
the Moose special Thank you tonight to host athletic director
Jeff Cook and Cody de Liverance for their hospitality. We'd
like to think the head coaches Larry with him and
North Muskegan and Justin Ego at Revenna for our executive
producer Brian Thomas always doing a great job in our

(02:19:15):
spotlight reporter John Arter, and the best analysts around that
pronounces it Ravenna, Tom Kendra, I'm Jason Sutton once again.
Tonight's final score North Muskegan forty Revenna Nothing. Good night,
