We've been so blessed with our incredible food scene here
in Houston. More specifically, we've had a big influx of
great new pizza places, and one of these businesses is
looking to grow even more. It's the Gypsy Poet Something
oh Something. It's some of the best pizza Southeast Texas
has to offer. So the Gypsy Poet Studio is the
name of a project currently registered over in Rice Village
in the former Thai Village space. The four thousand, six
(03:15):
hundred and forty square foot space is gonna have a
kids area, but folks can likely expect more of what
they do best pizza made with long fermented crust topped
with well sourced ingredients. They also offer salads, desserts, and
beer and wine. The Gypsy Poet launched on Austin Street
in Midtown back in twenty nineteen. Three years later expanded
to the Heights and now soon to Rice Village.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
I'm definitely hyped.
Speaker 3 (03:35):

pizza coming to Rice Village most likely before at the

Day Mornings set a preset on the new and improved
iHeartRadio app to Sonny Naty nine point nine, Sunny Natty
nine point one, Houston's best variety of the eighties nineties,
and Today I'm Dana with producer Anthony I. Wish I
(04:21):
could say I was a darling daughter. I was more
of a demanding daughter. Maybe it's because I'm a middle child.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
But today, September twenty fifth National Daughter Day, daughters are witty,
some of them are darling, some of them are demanding,
but all of us are here. I think our purpose
in life, there's sons and there's daughters. Daughters are the glue,
the kind of connection to keep the family together. And
I've spoken to Anthony, to so many daughters, it's rarely
(04:50):
the sun that gets their parents, you know that as
they get older, to take care of them, it's usually
the daughters. I was the one in my family who
got my parents here from vermon You know. It was
January first, twenty twenty two. I said, hey, excuse me,
twenty twenty. I said, Mom and Dad, I'm moving you
to Texas. We've set you up. We're going to get
(05:12):
in the car and we're going to drive there. And
my mom was dealing with dementia. Dad had a host
of health issues. We took their three cats, we rented
a van and drove for two days to get to Texas.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
You were determined to bring them here?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, absolutely, I was like that demanding daughter, but for
their benefit and oh Dad loves I was gonna say
a complete.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Turnaround for them in so many ways. I'll never Dad
get around very well. I'll never forget.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I took him to Tanger out Let ma Al in Cyprus,
and I said, Dad, you sit in the car. I'm
going to go buy you some shoes and We're going
to try on all these shoes because he had his
Vermont ll beans And I'm like, no, well, we're we're
in Texas now, Dad, so we're going to get you
some sweet shoes. And he sat in my car and
I tried on three different pairs of shoes. He picked
two that he loves and ran back and returned the
(06:01):
third pair. Got them a little treat. I mean, I
have such great memories of taking care of my dad
here in Texas. It's like what us daughters do and
then you brothers get to have fun and experience it.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
But it's the daughters that seem to be the glue
that holds it daily together.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Unless I'm wrong, guys, and you can chime in, but
I would love to hear from daughters on this National
Daughter's Day, Like how is it with you and your family.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Are you the darling? Are you the demanding one?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Give us a call, share what it's like to be
a daughter, and guys, you'll have your day, but today
it's for daughters. Our number is seven one three two
one two five ninety nine one Sunday ninety nine point one,
Houston's Best Variety of the eighties nineties and Today with
Dane in the Morning and producer Anthony talking about National
Daughter's Day, having daughters call in about what it's like
(06:53):
to be a daughter and what kind of daughter are you?
Jennifer calling in from Porter Now. Jennifer and I were talking.
You've got a son on the autism spectrum. Super successful
guy now and you are actually helping other parents with
kids with autism.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
You write books? How you are a daughter? How did
you become?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Like? What kind of daughter were you that you became
such a helpful mother to your son?
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Well, my mother just recently passed away in February. I
brought her up from Tennessee to live with me, and
I took care of her till she passed away. She
had to menta wow. Grandma took care of my grandma
and my mother always pushed the importance of being there
for family regardless, and.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
So I was raised.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
My sister and I were just talking about that. When
we were laughing and saying we weren't allowed to complain,
my grandmother would go, you have a problem, I'll give
you so five minutes to whine about it, and then
you need to fix it.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Oh yes, yeah, yeah, so I kind of you know,
I looked at life that way because I was raised
that way.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
That your sister's name, but it's her name is Rosslyn Rosselyn.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Now you're probably the favorite one, right with your with
your mom and dad, you were the favorite growing up.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
No, actually no, I okay, what made you the prickly one,
the prickly daughter.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I'm the middle child kind of, you know, I'm.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
A middle child. I know you get it.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I totally get it.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
And it's funny because I brought my parents here from
Vermont and took care of them too. And I love
your your view on arguing, you got three minutes work
it out.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
I love that. Or not arguing, but a problem right whining? Yes, right,
right exactly.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Yeah, that's my grandmother would tell my sister and that
all the time. No, no, no, we don't dig our holes.
And then my kids will tell you. I used to
tell them the same thing.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
That's fair.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Okay you guys, you kid so sorry.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
You know, have that moment. My grandmother also would say
break them down into small increments. She said, if a
boulder rolls across the road and you're going up a
mountain side and there's just a mountain wall next to
you and a drop on the other side, what are
you gonna do. You're gonna stand there whine. Are you
gonna figure out how to get around this motive? So
you can't physically just move it, so you if you
chip away at it, you will find a way around it,
(09:12):
under it or over it.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
A wizy Jennifer, Wow, I love it. It's that tough love.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Well, boy, does it get people motivated? You are the best.
You're an excellent daughter, and I'm glad we got to
speak to you on National Daughter's Day.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
I love you, guys, show I listen to you all
the time, So thank you, thank you for the opportunity
