Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's best Variety of the
eighties nineties.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
And today, okay no with producer Anthony and we've got
the three things you need to know to get your Monday.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Your first day of fall, September twenty second started. I
wish I had some better news about the Texans, but
they are now zero and three after such a bummer
lost to the Jags yesterday seventeen to ten. Now they're
going to try to get it on track. Next the
Texans are going to host Tennessee on Sunday, and the

(00:30):
Mariners neck neck with our Astros for the American League
West title. Astros thought we're doing so great, but when
the Mariners came to town over the weekend, the Astros
could not beat them.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Last night, it was a sweep, yep.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
The Mariners beat the Texans, or excuse me, the Astros seven
to three, and the Astros head to Golden State now
to try to keep those playoff dreams alive.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Crucial last six games of this season.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Come on, Astros, and it's the first day of fall,
perfect for taking a walk once the humidity starts to drop.
So this is good news for you guys. In the
Heights area. Repairs are going to start on a popular
hike and bike trail there along Market Trail near Hogan Street.
Apparently some tech dot equipment broke free slammed into that bridge.

(01:16):
Now the bridge is still okay, but they did notice
some structural situations that need to be addressed. So it'll
take about three months to fix it, stabilize it, and
make it perfect. So that is some good news. Your
weather today, it's still gonna be hot. We're gonna go
up to ninety humidities back might see a shower as well.
Right now, it's seventy five in Uptown and you're up

(01:36):
to date from Sunday ninety nine point one.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
As we get ready for.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
The eight o'clock All Music Hours and at eight ten
our Battle of the Verbs on Sunday ninety nine point one,
tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill. Houston Well United Airlines open its doors over
the weekend to its massive hangar at Bush Airport for
Girls Aviation Day, Girls in a eight and open to

(02:00):
Houston area teams.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Actually, it happened all over the country.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
HISD and Sterling Aviation sent out about fifty teenagers to
go and enjoy this really cool event. Lots of fun
and educational activities and possibly.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Some future pilots, were their producer Anthony.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's exciting, Dane. This is always good too. There's some
new faces over at our Houston Zoo. Actually a first
for them in their history. They have successfully hatched a
boat build hair in. It's a nocturnal waiting bird noted
for its wide, flat bill that with the whole of
a boat. The fuzzy Chick is now the newest resident
of their South America's Wetlands Aviary, which is part of
their Bigger Birds of the World exhibit. But the hair

(02:39):
and hatchling isn't the only new arrival. A male o'copy
was also born earlier this month. This is exciting too,
because the o'copies are actually in danger due to habitat
loss and poaching. They also welcomed an Eastern bongo calf
earlier back in June, so quite a few new reasons
to check out the zoo, especially with the weather finally
taking a turn for the cool. Dane and I were
peeping the temps this weekend. We'll be in the eighties.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Oh that's about almost perfect.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Look cooler would be perfect, but still we're getting there exactly.
And there's a small quilt shop in Victoria carefully stitching
one quilt square at a time, filled with love and hugs.
It is the work of an extraordinary relief effort for
victims of the devastating Fourth of July floods that swept
through the Hill Country. My Fabric Friends is the name

(03:25):
of the shop, making huge quilts from with squares from
all over the world. They got the message out and
people have been adding their squares to these incredible quilts.
Three hundred and fifty quilts are all ready to be
handed out. One very appreciative recipient said, this is the
first thing that's hers. She's been living with donations from

(03:46):
the Salvation Army and she just loves her quilt.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
You can check them out.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
They've set up a GoFundMe myfabricfriends dot com and for
our feel good stories. Each weekday mornings set a preset
on the new and improved iHeartRadio app to Sunny Natty
nine point one.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Sunday Natty nine point one, Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
And Today I'm Dana with producer Anthony on a first
day of fall where it's humid and it's going to
be like summer again. Today we do have a chance
of a shower, but the cooler weather, at least it's
going to feel cooler, should happen on Thursday. So we're
getting there today up to ninety. Right now, it is
seventy five in Uptown. And we learned in our nearly
impossible question, guys spend thirty seven minutes a day wondering

(04:27):
if they're attractive to the opposite sex.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Women can be.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Upwards of four hours a day, and we're asking you
if that's what you do. We've got Kevin now, Kevin
calling in from Katie. You go to work and are
you really thinking? And you work at area grocery stores?
Are you really thinking about whether you're attractive to the
opposite sex when you're working?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Kevin? No, I'm just starting doing my job and that's
it that I thought this was kind of crazy. So
where do you like?

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Where do you you're you're a stalker of candy and
gum and all things delicious? Yes?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Now is it justin Katie or do you go all
around the city.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I go to Katie and Richmond sometimes.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Huh, How long do you spend in each store?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Around an hour and so you're in and out, you
get your job done, and then you go to the
next store.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
That's correct, that's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So how long do you have to work during the day?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Okay? All right? How did you get a job like this, Kevin?
I just applied online and they called me in and
h that's fair. How long have you been doing it?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I just sorted a couple of months ago.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Wow, congratulations, that's so great. Tell us about your wife.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
What made you fall in love with her?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Her personality, her smile and easy to talk to it times.
That's excellent.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Now, I bet before you got married, though, you were
concerned about being attractive, be honest, right, you wanted to
make sure right, okay, just like Anthony said, Then you
find the woman of your dreams and now it's not
a worry anymore.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Right, that's right, that's fantastic. Well, what's her name is, Brittany? Well,
I'm glad that you found Brittany the woman of your dreams? Kevin.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And uh, since you are a stalker of candy and gum,
any thoughts on what you think the most popular Halloween
candy will be?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
This year. Oh, I think it's gonna be. And Snickers,
you know they're the favorite go to. I was gonna
say Rae's is always time.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
We learned last week, though, that people are really liking
cookies and cream those white chocolate candy bars.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Absolutely yeah, I thought so.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Man, how do you not eat all your candy bars?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Kevin? I just too the best I can avoid when
I can discipline, discipline well. Kevin, You're a sweetheart.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Thanks for sharing a little bit of your life on
this first day of fall.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
We appreciate you listening. Thank you
