Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday nighty nine point one Dana with producer Anthony and
we've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties and
today and the three things you need to know to
get your Thursday, July seventeenth started, another precious soul was
found and brought home to her family. Eight year old
Virginia Hollis escorted home from the Hill Country by law
enforcement to her hometown of Belleville, and she was a
(00:24):
first time camper at Camp Mystic lost her life in
the fourth of July flood, and it was a moving
tribute as her grandpa escorted her horse Salt Valley with
Grandma and the beautiful family there, and the entire town
just filled with friends and family and all the buildings
covered with those beautiful green ribbons.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Very very moving.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Well, if you're going on vacation, it's going to get
a little less hectic. I was speaking with a sweet
family yesterday headed to Anna Marie Island, Florida this morning,
and they no longer have to take off their shoes
at the security And soon we might not need to
deal with that three ounce rule for liquids. Oh gosh,
we don't know when yet, but it's to be determined,
(01:07):
but something to look forward to. And forecasters are saying
this tropical disturbance now has just a thirty percent chance
to develop into a tropical storm Dexter. But still be
weather aware for us here in Houston. We could see
some heavy rains moving in tomorrow. Always be prepared. Remember
peak hurricane season right around September tenth. Weather today dry,
(01:29):
kind of a hazy sky out there. We're going up
to ninety right now, it's seventy six in uptown and
you're up to date on sunny. Tell me something good
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. We're
learning Another star studded relief concert has been announced. Robert
Earl Keen announced it on his social media. It's going
(01:50):
to be a big concert as he went through his
rolodex to bring out all his superstar friends August twenty
eighth at Whitewater Amphitheater. Jack Ingram will also be a
part of it, and you can go there to sing.
Hear them sing and support the Hill Country recovery efforts.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Producer Anthony Dane. It's a reminder of why we rodeo
our Houston livestock show and Rodeo just recently hosted its
annual scholarship picnic at Energy Center to celebrate this year's recipients,
and it's a huge year for students. The Rodeo is
awarding a record ten point five million dollars in scholarships
to quote, the largest ever class of Texas students. They're
giving five hundred and twenty nine students a twenty thousand
(02:26):
dollars scholarship to support their four year undergrad studies, and
this year's scholarships awards are part of their broader fourteen
point seven million dollar commitment and a total twenty eight
million dollar investment in youth and education across the state.
These students are going to be attending fifty four different
colleges and universities across Texas, most popular A and m
UT and our own u of Age with top fields
of study including no surprise, animal science, biology, business, and nursing.
(02:49):
Congrats to all the recipients and get excited because next
year's Rodeo will be here before you know. It's scheduled
for March second of twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
That is awesome and this is pretty cool too. After
a three year bout that old Battleship Texas is one
meeting away from that long sought after Gallas to Police.
Hopefully all will fall into place and the World War
One era vessel will secure its new home at Peer fifteen.
What a long, long processing it has been unbelievable. Yeah,
(03:19):
it's really exciting. I've visited Battleship Texas. It's going to
be such a great attraction there it is, And for
our feel good stories each Weekday Mornings set a preset
on the new and improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny naty
nine point one, Satday nighty nine point one. I'm so
glad you're listening with Data with producer Anthony, and we've
got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties and today.
(03:42):
And we're talking about spontaneity making us fifty percent happier
according to a survey. We learn this at six point
forty with our nearly impossible question, I struggle with spontaneity.
How do you too? It's spending money and we're asking
you about your take on spontaneatus. Maybe you're a planner.
Now we've got Rebecca, a bookkeeper in Kingwood. Are you
(04:03):
a planner or are you spontaneous. I feel like I'm
pretty spontaneous. Oh really, it's funny because I thought bookkeeper,
that's someone who would plan. How did you get a
bookkeeper job when you're a spontaneous lady?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
I know.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
No, I just got into it and I really love numbers.
It comes really easy for me. Oh okay, And when
you say that you're spontaneous, like give a couple of
examples of your spontaneity, Like you just wake up one
day you want to go to the beach, Go to
the beach, and another one take off. We have dance
parks in my house, so just randomly people seen to music.
(04:42):
Can you just pop up and start dancing? I love wow.
I mean it says that people who are spontaneous are
happier people, and it sounds like you're very happy.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
You can hear it.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
You don't let burdens bog you down right? No, No,
that is excellent. And how long have you been a bookkeeper, Rebecca?
I want to say like seven years? Excello. Excellent. Well,
thank you for sharing a little bit of your spontaneity
with us, and we hope that our music kind of
makes you want to just get up and dance. Sometimes
(05:13):
a great morning you too, be you okay, bye bye
