Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday nighty nine point one day No with producer Anthony
and we've got Houston's best variety the eighties, nineties and
today and the three things you need to know to
get your Tuesday, August twenty six started well yesterday, around
four in the afternoon the Memorial Park area. You might
have heard this whoom, like, what is going on? Is

(00:22):
that a reenactment? No, it was the real deal. In
Memorial Park. HPD's bomb squad was called out to help
blow up a piece of World War One era artillery. Nikes,
you could hear the boom like you just did. It
was around four yesterday afternoon. No danger to the community.
They had it all blocked off. Fun fact did not

(00:43):
know this. From nineteen seventeen to nineteen nineteen, Memorial Park
was home to Camp Logan, A thousands of soldiers trained
there for World War Wow. So if you hear one
World War One era artillery shell doesn't mean that there
might not be war.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I'll add it to the list of phase to keep
an eye out for all I know exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Okay, we love Halloween, we love Christmas and put them together.
What do you have spirit Halloween teasing the return of
its spinoff store Spirit Christmas. Yep, it was on their
Instagram yesterday. We're being advised to stay tuned. No dates yet.
Also we are Are we going to get a break
I should say this Labor Day weekend when it comes

(01:24):
to the cost of travel, Yes, listen to this. We're
gonna be below last year's gas prices of three thirty three,
airfares down six percent, hotels down eleven percent, and car
rentals are down three percent.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I'll take it.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Some good news for your Labor Day holiday weekend coming up.
Weather today, we've got some rain moving and mainly this
afternoon we're gonna go up to ninety four. Really's not
cooling things off. We've got scattered showers still tomorrow. Right now,
it's seventy nine in Uptown and you're up to date
on sunny. Tell me something good brought to us by
our friends at good Will Houston. Anthony. I was invited

(02:02):
to a five year old as me her little birthday
party over the weekend the theme Hello Kitty. I got
her a Hello Kitty dress, a kid to kid in Katie,
Hello Kitty, vacuum, and a brush at Hobby Lobby that
were like the star present she loved them so much.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
But I probably could have just gotten her some Astros tickets.
Hello Kitty Night.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
It is such a popular night. The Astros now host
two Hello Kitty Nights each year, and guess what tonight
is one of those nights. First ten thousand fans, we'll
get the Hello Kitty Night belt bag, hot pink Hello
Kitty Night Jersey add ons and meet and greet with
a Hello Kitty.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
The mascot.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Hello Kitty is also going to throw out the first
pitch against Colorado. They say it's best to arrive around
four forty five to get the giveaways. First pitch tonight
at seven to ten against Colorado and for our feel
good stories. Each Weekday Mornings set a preset on the
new and improved iHeartRadio app to Sunny Natty nine point one,
Sunday Natty nine point one, Houston's Best Variety, the eighties, nineties,

(03:01):
and Today I'm Dana with producer Anthony Anthony. Yesterday we
were talking about things that we are naturally good at.
There was a question that was posed, and I thought
that there are the typical answers. Some people are just
naturally good at dancing or baking. They're just sure in
these areas, right, I mean, the the opens on the

(03:22):
tennis players are just amazing. And then there were some
answers that were very honest and truthful. Some people are
really good at sleeping, others really good at procrastinating. I mean, here, right,
and let's see, I got a I got an email
from some of our listeners, CALLI and page they are
they are naturally good at sleeping as well.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
I love it, uh huh.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
And then some people are naturally good at nothing. Just
being naturally good at nothing. I mean I started to
think about that, like what are we naturally good at?
And you kind of have to pause, and you know
where you just have this inclination. And I am for
some reason, I was always naturally good at sewing, embroidery, knitting,

(04:08):
like I just maybe because I'm I'm anxious and I
need to move my hands a lot, so embroidery. I
used to embroider my jeans when like, I started sewing
when I was seven and then became a really good
seamstress at twelve. I made my wedding dress, I made
my sister's wedding dress. I could just like I go
upstairs and tell my mom I'm gonna go sew a
pair of pants, and I'd come down with five pairs

(04:29):
of pants. That's incredible, a little elastic, cute little pants
for sure. Man. I just that that was really the
only thing. We had a boss here once, Anthony. She
didn't last very long and we had to go around
the room to introduce ourselves, and that was her question,
what are you good at?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
That?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
That's what thing we we might not know about you
that you're good at. And I sat there and thought
I was a seamstress and she was like, okay, next,
Oh to be so I love to be. It's funny
that God gave me four boys and one girl, and
my girl liked dressing like a boy, so you know,

(05:08):
I didn't ever make dresses or anything. The irony Is
there something, Anthony, that you're just naturally good at other
than just being a nice guy.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I was gonna, well, thank you for that.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
No.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I think for me it would have to be music. Probably,
that's my natural inclination. It's it's literally the reason I
ended up here. I remember in high school being like
at fork in the Red, I was trying to figure
out like what what my you know what? I was
just naturally drawn towards and I had a couple of things.
But I'd been in band since like man fourth grade,
I think, and it hadn't really started clicking for me,

(05:38):
and so I think my sophomore year, and that's when
I was like, wait a minute, this is like I
couldn't imagine my life without it. And then it's you know,
one thing least to another, and then like that, I
couldn't imagine my life for that.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I still play guitar. I'm still singing all the time.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I'm not out, you know, gigging like I was back then,
you know, thankfully because that was a crazy schedule. But
no hands down music I love.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I'm naturally good.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
At my vibrato, off key all the time. That's the
only part of music.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
In fact, Dana's had more voice lessons than me.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
I know, because I had one and you had none. Anyway,
what are you naturally good at? We would love to
hear your talents seven one three, two one two five
ninety nine to one Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's
Best Variety the eighties, nineties and today I'm Dana with
producer Anthony and a great question, what.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Are you naturally good at.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Some people so gifted baking and dancing, and others you know,
really excited about that they're good at sleeping. That's a
s feel fascinating. Absolutely. So we're asking you what are
you naturally good at? And we've got Tonday who works
in it. Tonday, what are you naturally good at?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yees? So, I'm a fifty seven year old old five
out three girls and a boy, and I'm naturally good
at doing my girls.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Here, you're naturally gonna do in your daughter's hair.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I I do braves, I do crochet, I do anything.
And my oldest daughter is twenty and she wouldn't go
to a salon until I do.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
I have to do it.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
He actually doing that here?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Oh my, it is amazing.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
So you can have you could have your own side house,
really daddy salon, you know, in addition.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
To what you do. And I yes, if I wanted to,
if I wanted to what I do my girls?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Here?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Have you do that? I guess little? And I do
help you today?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
That is fantas It's amazing.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Did you just naturally learn that by trial and error
or did your mom teach you?

Speaker 4 (07:28):
You know, nobody taught me when they were little. I
started playing with you here doing the little row, bounced off.
Then I said grow. I improved on that and now
I can They will not even go to salon. I
can't do anything. I can't do anything.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Funday.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
That's what I nominate you for Father of the Year. Okay, secondary,
I love that.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
And I bet when you go to.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
The office and people are like Sunday is like a
hairdresser on the side.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Is amazing. You're so good.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
You need to start your online salon and have all
the girls in the neighborhood come over.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
You could do their hair.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
I'm just saying, my girls telling me to have YouTube,
a YouTube pig, oh.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Exactly, you should do it. That would be amazing.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Think of a catchy name and your daughters can be
your models.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Right.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, you're a sweetheart.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Well, Tondae, thank you so much keeping for sharing your
your talent with.

Speaker 2 (08:23):

Sonny my youngest daughter.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
It's send us to nine nine point one. So this
morning I give her. I was in my ride and I.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
D I'm telling you you keep listening to your daughters.
They sound very wise. Dad.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
You've done a good job level. Thank you for sharing.
I'm glad you guys found us.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
