Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and
the three Things you Need to Know to get your
feel good. Friday, May sixteenth started, Well, we're learning more
people and actually this is old news headed to Houston
according to a new survey. But we are not the
number one city people are flocking to. We're number two.

(00:26):
They're actually going to New York City. Okay, to New Yorker.
I'm wondering why unless that's okay, it's changed.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Not being number one on that list is okay?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Anyway? Yeahh and Full Shirt the second fastest growing city
in the country. And we know that's beautiful out there. Hey,
you want to paradise for buyers, then you want to
go to Galveston. Yes, they have properties have been sitting
up to nine months on the market and motivated sellers
have to find motivated buyers so they can make a

(00:58):
win win deals. Something a little action going on in
beautiful Galveston. And so why are the skies so hazy
in Houston. Well, it's called agricultural burning. Seems to happen
every time this year. It's happening in Mexico. The fire
helps with the soil and nutrition, but unfortunately it produces
smoky skies for us, So the air quality isn't that

(01:20):
good weather. If you love the heat, it's going to
be good for you. If you don't, it's not going
to be good because we have got these hazy skies
and heat right through next weekend. We're gonna go up
to ninety five today and we've got a heat index
so it could feel even hotter. It's already eighty in
Uptown and you're up to date from Sunday ninety nine
point one. Tell me something good brought to us by

(01:42):
our friends at Goodwill Houston. What a blessing to Houston
area families. Houston Children's charity. They have raised four million
dollars for a very ambitious and unique effort. Sixty six
families are going to get modified vans children with disabilities.
These are wheelchair accessible, amazing vans. Last year they were

(02:06):
able to donate fifteen this year sixty six. It's an
incredible increase thanks to some generous donors. And they have
been helping families with special needs children for thirty years.
So much deserved praise for Houston Children's charity producer Anthony.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I didn't realize, Dame, but we're in a period now
that's considered hitting season. It's a time of year when
our shelters across the country see a real sharp rise
in orphaned litters. And right now, our Houston SPCA has
eighty seven kittens currently in need of foster homes. Many
of these kittens have either graduated or currently in the
neonatal kitten nursery where they receive round the clock hair
until they're old enough to start eating on their own,

(02:45):
and the SPCA is in need of foster assistance to
help bridge that gap. With the help, it saves lives,
gives vulnerable animals the chance to grow, heal, and thrive
in a safe, loving environment, and becoming a foster simple.
You can even do it online. The SBCA actually provides
all the nest serious supplies, medical care, and training. You
just provide the time, attention, and of course the love.

(03:05):
If you want to look into becoming a foster for
these sweet kittens, just head to Houston SPCA dot org.
Right there on the homepage you'll see join our foster
family telling.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
You it's good for your mental health. Yes, it is
really Dane has ever thought cats would do what they do?
See and my husband they were lying on the deck
and they're lying on his belly and I'm looking at
my husband, going there's a cat on your stomach and
he goes, I know, yep.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
And it has been beautiful.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
This is great. I love this. He has shown his
designs on runways from New York to Paris. His name
Anywinn and his fashion enterprise on Willcrest Drive in an
area known as Little Sygone. He moved to Houston when
he was just nine years old from Vietnam. Helped his
parents alter clothes at their shop, and today he's got

(03:54):
his own business, Danny Newinn Couture, and he loves getting
back to the community. Organizes something called the grid Show.

and you can check it out if you want to
be a part of it. They had their big event
on the twelve. Just go to Thegridshow dot com and
