Sunday ninety nine, twenty one Day No with producer Anthony
We've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties and
today and the three things you need to know to
get your Monday August eighteenth started, well, it's August eighteenth.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
In a few weeks September.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
First, some new law is going to go into effect
now still some stalled laws in Q include the bill
on flood relief and the statewide th C ban. But
a law that will go into effect and the kids
probably already see them. Public schools going to be having
to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Speaking of classrooms,
(00:35):
HISD got its accountability report card for the twenty twenty
four to twenty five school year and HISD gets a
B grade an eighty two, up from a C grade
of seventy nine in the twenty twenty three twenty four
school years. So that is so good and this such
a bummer. They were so good, they gave us so
much hope, and they did amazing, but they weren't able
(00:58):
to advance. The Lamar Little League team tried, but on
Saturday they fell to a team from Braintree, Massachusetts, and
were eliminated the loss seven to three.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
So they are headed on home.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Whether today we've got a sixty percent chance of rain,
we're gonna be going up to ninety seven.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's gonna feel hotter with the heat indecks.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Right now, it's eighty three in Uptown and Europe to
date on sunny. Tell me something good brought to us
by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, Margaret Johnson is
a senior citizen. She's got some disability, she's on a
fixed income, and she's been very fearful of some trees
near her home. She thinks they're a safety hazard. And
(01:39):
her concerns were aired on KJOU recently, and Kirby White
saw the broadcast. He's the owner of ranch Buster's tree Service.
He reached out to Margaret. He saw her property, he
saw the safety concerns, and he reassured her he would
help out, not gonna charge her anything, just wants to
make sure her.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Home is sick.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Oh wow, I love that, so, Kirby White, thank you
for your kindness.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Producer Anthony Dane, this is exciting.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Coming up next month, the representative of the Guinness World
Records we'll be visiting our Galveson Island to certify our seawall,
or at least seven point three miles of it, as
the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. Our seawall stretches
from just pass a McDonald's on Galveson East End all
the way to Diamond Beach ten miles away. And a
little history on our sea wall if you didn't know,
is built back after the deadly title surge from the
(02:27):
infamous nineteen hundred hurricane that left the islands southern half
in ruins. Construction began in nineteen oh two, was completed
two years later, and then even more sections to be
completed with the years to come. So coming up Saturday,
September sixth, a Guinness Rep's going to be in town
to officially measure the seawall visit. Galveson is inviting Islanders
to gather on their new record setting walkway to remember
(02:48):
those one thousands lost who lost their lives in the
nineteen hundred storm, and to celebrate the unique world the
seawall has played in the island's history.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
It's so cool, right, it's amazing, And so which Major.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
League ballpark has the best hot dogs in the whole country? Well,
the Major League Baseball hot Dog indexes out all thirty
Major League Baseball teams and the hot Dog experience on
the list. So the hot Dogs at dyke In Park,
the Astros number five best overall, a very satisfactory experience.
(03:23):
And let's see the Seattle Mariners came in at number one,
Texas Rangers number fourteen on the list.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Last place goes to Miami Martin.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So congratulations dyke In Park and you Astros and.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
For our feel good stories.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Each weekday mornings set a preset on the new and
improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny ninety nine point one Sunday
ninety nine point one Houston's best variety of the eighties nineties.
And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony, and we learned
our nearly impossible question. You've always got to listen to
the percentage. It was what thirty percent, thirty percent said,
this is what affects our causes us to lose sleep,
(04:00):
And it was your partner.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Not snoring, not passing gas.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
It was your partner getting up earlier than you and
really hard time getting back to sleep. And I said, Anthony,
it's we can't do anything about it because not many
people get up at three or three thirty in.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
The mo but the difference is between you and me,
or well at least, so when I get up, I
try to and so we're upstairs, and so in our
bathrooms connect right next to the room. I try to
be not you know, I'm not very noisy in the bathroom.
I'm usually pretty quick in there. And then the rest
of the stuff I have to do is usually downstairs
in the kitchen. So she won't hear any of that.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I see.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So what you're saying is I don't do that. I'm
very noisy in the well. That's what My kitchen is
close to the bedroom.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Why did that small barn?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
And uh? Yeah, And so I have a I have
this barn door that slides.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Oh it's a big Okay. If I slide it too fast,
it bangs against the wall.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh, I believe you. There's some mornings where I just
slide it too fast and the banging and the bathroom
and if I blow draw my hair that.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Day, what, oh you're doing all of that. I gotta
see the dishwashing. The dishes fall.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Gets kind of noisy in that You're like it's a whole,
like it's a whole thing with you when you're in
the morning.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
But the thing is, my husband snores right through the
whole Oh okay, just more of a sensitive sleeper, right, yes, yeah,
more of a sensitive sleeper.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah. So anyway, so Bob could Kate doesn't care. He does.
He can sleep through anything. That is a skill in itself.
It's that's why our relationship works. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
I was gonna say he can sleep through my noise
at three point thirty in the morning.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
He's learned, he knows.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
What about you, guys? What makes you lose sleep?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Is it your partner?
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Is it just something? And maybe is something in the
ear You're for some reason? Anthony? You know I love
stealing fans. It has been making noise lately.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Have it on full speed? Oh no, you go from
a six to a five like I need the.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Air, non negotiable. Cannot make noise anyway. What's going on
with you? What makes you lose sleep? Seven one, three, two,
one two five ninety nine to one Sunday ninety nine
point one Houston's Best Variety of the eighties nineties, and
today I'm Dana with producer Anthony. We're talking about what
causes us to lose sleep. We learned in our nearly
impossible question at six point forty this morning, it's our
(06:18):
partner getting up earlier than us and we can't get
back to sleep. Aw man, And we're asking you now,
that was only thirty percent chance of the percent of
the time.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
So what is it for you?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
And we've got Alexandra, now you're driving to work in Katie.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
What do you do for a living?
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I work in special education.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Fantastic, fantastic, Okay, Alexandra.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
What causes you to lose sleep?
Speaker 4 (06:40):
What causes me to lose sleep is partner related, but
it has more to do with when he comes to bed,
like the time.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Okay, all right, tell So so you're working with in
special education. You need a good night's sleep because you're
gonna have a long day, right, and you've got to
be very patient?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Oh? Yes, are so patient?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yes? So what time do you go to bed?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
I try to go to bed around nine thirty ten, okay.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
And your partner, so he'll watch a movie.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Or a show, and then it's eleven thirty midnight.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah, what happens? What happens?
Speaker 4 (07:13):
I'm talking and turning because I feel that I don't
I actually lack of the feeling of him being next
to me, and I think that that kind of bothers it.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Oh, you can't sleep peacefully until he comes to bed.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yes, Like if he'll go out, especially if he goes
out with his friends and then he'll come home at
like midnight or like twelve thirty, I can't. I will
wait for him, yeap, not.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Because I want to, but because I'm in bed talking
and turning exactly.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I've seen it, Alexander. So you need to talk to him.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Say, honey, you know I'm off all summer long, but
when this school year starts, you've got to come to
bed with me. Can you I need you to change
your whole lifestyle. Could you do that?
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Pat to get a weighted body pillow that's like the
same weight. It doesn't put it next to me.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
A boy, You'll get one of those weighted blankets and
just organize it so it's what's your husband's name or
your partner's name, Tony, Tony, that's what you're just gonna
have to get a fake Tony.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yes, I am right.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
I mean it's for the kids. It's all for the kids.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Kids, Yep, it's all for the kids.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Alexander, how long have you guys been together?
Speaker 4 (08:27):
For six years?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Well, that's really sweet that you missed him, like you
sense that he's not there and you really enjoy him
next to you. I sent him, and so it does
our little dog, Oh it's not there.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
He will actually get up and then go to the
living room and he'll just stare at him like, Okay,
you're not coming to bed, but I'll lay with you.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Until you do.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Tony should be so appreciative that he is loved by everyone,
really though.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Of course, Alexander, that's great. Thank you for Sharon, Yes,
and thanks for listening to Sonny. We appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Yes, ma'am, y'all have a good day. You'll always on
my radio every time I go to work.
