Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and Today Dan in the Morning and producer
Anthony and the Three Things You Need to Know to
get your Wednesday, September third started well.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Great news for HISD.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
They are home to some of the country's best high
schools according to US News and World Report, Carnegie Vanguard
High School coming in at number forty two, Debate High
School for Health Professionals number seventy five, and others made
the top seven hundred list, including Challenge Early College High
School and Eastwood Academy, also Sharpstown International School. Well, it's

(00:37):
our first ever safe Haven Baby Box in Harris County,
offering a safe option for newborn surrender. The Tomball fire
Station Number five held a blessing ceremony for the box
that was installed under the Texas Baby Moses Law. It
allows parents to legally surrender infants at designated locations. These
are climate controlled and alert first responders a minute a

(01:00):
baby is placed inside. Well, the thirty million dollar Herman
Park golf course renovation has been put on hold. It
was expected to begin later this month and be complete
by twenty twenty six, but city council holding off until approval.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
They want more.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Community engagement before moving forward. And weather today, it's gonna
be a partly sunny hot Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
We're going up to ninety four.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Right now, it's seventy nine in Uptown and Europe to date.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I'm sunny.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston. Well, Bucky CEO has gifted Texas A
and M in a big way. A visitors center coming
and it's named after Bucky Ceo arch Alpin.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
It'll be the Alpin Center.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
It's gonna blend Aggie hospitality with hands on education. Should
be complete by twenty twenty eight. And Anthony, this thing
is huge. It's like three stories and you know there's
gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Lots of bucking products.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Oh you know, producer Anthony Dane, this is a wild story.
For over three decades, bees have been slowly taken over
mister Jimmy Johnson's home in Galveston County, literally three colonies
on the outside wall.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
He's seventy years old.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
His options have been few because most beekeepers say this
job is too big and they just couldn't handle it well.
Enter Carlos Hernandez with the b and Me. It's a
nonprofit dedicated to be education and safe removal. This past Monday,
he began the process of removing the hives and smoking
out the resident bees. One has already gone. He's going
to be tackling the rest later. And because of the
size of the job and the fact that his home
is one hundred years old, Carlos and his beekeepers are

(02:33):
already working to connect Jimmy with contractors who can help
make repairs and replace the walls that need to be removed.
So thanks to Carlos with the Bee and Me helping
mister Johnson and rehousing all these bees far away from
his home.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
That is incredible, incredible.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Okay from Texas A and m to u of H.
He played for the Jets the Broncos Kansas City after
graduating from q u of H. Also made it to
the Super Bowl twice. Well, this bumer, you have h
Cougar linebacker Glenn Cadres who played in nineteen ninety and
nineteen ninety one. He is now a full fledged hero.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Here's what he did. There was a huge car crash
right in front of him.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
He had just left his son's youth football game a
head on collision.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Both cars burst into flames. Who he gets out of his.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Car, runs over and pulls a twenty five year old
out of a burning car. They were unable to save
the others, but at least he got this guy out
of the car. Yea is truly a hero and just unbelievable.
Glenn Cadres, thank you. And this did not happen here.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
This happened.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
He's now living in California with his family. Unbelievable heroic
app and for our feel good stories each weekday mornings

Speaker 2 (04:05):
That we leave them. Yeah, and we're talking.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
About annoying habits that we just can't stand. Can they
ever change?

Speaker 2 (04:13):

Speaker 1 (04:14):
I know we've got Jeanette headed to work in the
heights now Jeanette, does your husband have an annoying habit?

Speaker 2 (04:21):

Speaker 1 (04:22):
All right, okay, now we don't have all morning to
go through the entire list. What are some of the
top annoying habits that your husband has?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Okay, The one that annoys me the most is like,
we have this habit to have coffee by the porch
every every day, every evening, even habit for the last
eighteen years.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Right, so I make the coffee.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
He lost my coffee. Everybody lost my coffee.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
But he goes back to he's glad.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Like two steps thrown the sink. I feel your pain, Jeanette.
The sink is right there, right there, I.

Speaker 1 (05:01):

Speaker 2 (05:02):
And that's exactly what Bob does.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
It's like, look every time I say, like, no, I
did it, No, honey, you did not right here.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I tried to live there, you know, just that. No,
they never learned. They never learned. It is crazy, the
most annoying, and has been like that for eighteen years.
I don't give.

Up, but yeah, like, I'm sorry, listen, Jeanette, I've been
married for forty years.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Give up.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
He's not gonna learn. I'm telling you, he's You gotta
move on. You just gotta move on. That is just
the way he is, is the way he's wired.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
To live, right exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
You listen, Janette, you go find your happy place, and
you let your husband put his cup two feet from
the sink because he's never gonna put it in the sink.
My goodness.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Yeah, we laugh about it now because, yeah, he's so cute.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
