Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and
the three things you need to know to get your
Thursday started well. Early voting is underway. So far, in
just the first couple of days, Harris County is seeing
two hundred and forty two thousand people show up for
early voting. It runs through Friday, November one. Election Day, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Is November fifth, fifth.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
November fifth. You're gonna need to know that for our
Battle of the Burbs coming up. So we just helped
you out. Hey, this is crazy. Houston has been named
one of the top ten trending global trendy global destinations
for twenty twenty five. Like what booking dot com did
this study? We barely made it. We made number ten

(00:48):
on the list, and we join such places as Italy, Brazil, Norway, Japan.
They say our claim to fame is our booming energy economy,
the sleek sky scrapers, cultural landmarks, restaurants. I can see that,
and museums and daylight savings. Time is coming to an
end soon. Get ready to fall back one hour Sunday,

(01:11):
November third, That means early sunrises and it gets darker
early too, and we do get an extra hour of sleep.
So there's the good news. Weather today, it's going to
be sunny. We'll go up to eighty six right now,
sixty three in uptown and you're up to day on
Sunday ninety nine point one, and tell me something good

(01:32):
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well,
Hadda McNair facing a challenge earlier this week. She is
the Texans Foundation Vice president. She's also the Texans owner's daughter,
and she joined some of the Texans player as players
as they were coming.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Out to teach the kids at Kip.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Peace Elementary School how to play flag football.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Now in August, I don't know if you remember, the
Texans raised one point four million dollars to fund girls
flag football programs at twenty five Houston ISD schools.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
So they've been doing it.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Hannah as she has already played flag football. She's a
matter of fact, was an amazing player at Rice University.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
She loves it.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
She is so pumped it's going to be part of
the Olympic sport in the twenty twenty eight games. And
she is also working hard to secure scholarships for promising
young girl athletes whose dream is to play flag football.
So it's happening all around town. Producer Anthony this is incredible.
Texas Monthly set out to do something extraordinary. They went

(02:38):
out and traveled fourteen thousand miles, visited four hundred restaurants,
consume more than twelve hundred tacos in an effort for
them to find Texas Monthly's fifty Best Tacos list. They
say there's an overarching theme in the ranking. They call
it the rise of New Tejano.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
They say chefs and owners of these Takoreas have begun
evolving traditional text mes, offerings, crafting nostalgic dishes, and in
corporate native Texan ingredients. So where in Houston got the nod? Well,
there's five Takoreas in the area that made the list.
So there's coach Anita and Company. Find this place off
Lawndale off forty five self not too far from Wayside.
There's also Popolo Takorea. This one in finn Hall off

(03:15):
Main Street, Dane our famous original namepas off Navigation Course
made the list. There's also Triste, Chile's off Mount Houston
Road and then the ahem place.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
That scored number three on their ranking.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
It's as Techa Taco House out in all Deans get
excited when it comes to Takoreas in Texas. We have
quite a few that you need to check out right
here in Houston that is so good.

Speaker 2 (03:36):

today Dana in the Morning and producer Anthony and we're talking.
We learned about how men prepare for vacation. Forty percent

(03:58):
of them shave their backs. That was the answered to
our nearly impossible question at six point forty this morning.
Never even thought about that because I'm not a man.
And Anthony, apparently you don't have a back to like,
you don't need to shave your back, and you never
thought about it either. So but that's how some men
do it to make them feel really nice and smooth
and good.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
And we're asking you your.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Preparations for vacation, because we've got two big holidays coming
up that are big travel days, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And
maybe you've got a strategy that you can help us
out with. So it's relaxed and we might learn something
from the way that you guys pack and get ready
for holidays. And we have got several calls here. Let's
go to Amy and Katie. Now, first of all, where

(04:42):
are you guys going.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
We are going to Alabama where my folks.

Speaker 2 (04:45):

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Okay, will your husband be shaving his back before the trip?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (04:51):

he's a man's fan and he's good for a.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Goodhaph really have a place or are you the one?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
You know? I shaved the back of my husband's neck.
I do. He'll be like, you'd be like smarts, Can
you shave the back of my neck?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
And he's got a special shaver and I use a
little bit of a shaving lotion.

Oh yeah, so I was born and raised in Alabama.
So I go home to get to see my brother
and sister in law, of my parents, and my friends,
and we hit all the old stopping grounds in some
of the new places.

the shaving procedure.

Speaker 2 (05:49):

for sharing. You're hilarious.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
