Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm Dana with producer Anthony and we've got to Houston's
best variety of the eighties, nineties and today and the
three things you need to know to get your feel
good Friday, October tenth started. This is actually a feel
good story. Now just wait for it. Okay, okay, the
top twenty five cities where the worst driver's list is out.
All right, you're just waiting to see which number Houston is, right, yep?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well they looked at aggressive drivers, careless drivers, distracted.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
And disobedient drivers.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Memphis, Tennessee was number one. We did not make the
top five. So then you look through the top ten. Charleston,
South Carolina was number ten. We didn't make the top ten.
Then I keep looking at Lubbic number fourteen. Odessa comes
in at eighteen, Dallas comes in at twenty.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Did we make the top twenty five? No, Houston did not.
Wow that great, so keep up the good work. Drivers,
come on and Dallas. Sorry, Well I'm telling you what.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Okay, we are serious about no phones on campus, right,
but this school for boys in Houston, super serious. Western
Academy has announced any phone brought to campus will be
destroyed and students will be suspended and repeat offenders will
face expulsion. The headmaster, Jason Hebert, sent a letter to

(01:21):
parents and said they are children, you are adults.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
This is your responsibility.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
So in other words, he wants him to follow the rules,
standing on business or else.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
That's right. And it's October tenth.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's World Egg Day, celebrating the power of the egg.
And this year's theme the mighty egg hacked with natural nutrition.
So crack open an egg or two and celebrate, I.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Mean super food.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Give me a reason.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Love eggs so much.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Weather today, beautiful sunny, lower humidity. We are going to
go up to ninety right now. It's seventy in Uptown
and Europe to date on sunny. Tell me something good
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. This
Dad Anthony is inspiring us as he struggles through tragedy
in such a positive way. His name is Ryan DeWitt,

(02:08):
and he lost one of his precious daughters, Molly, in
the tragic Camp Mystic floodwaters. He is going to be
putting on his running shoes to shine a light on
Heaven's twenty seven. This is the Camp mystic campers and
counselors who died in those July fourth floodwaters. Ryan is
going to be running all seven major marathons New York, Chicago, Boston, Sydney, Tokyo, Berlin,

(02:35):
and London. And we encourage you to keep him in
your prayers because this weekend he begins in Chicago and
he's going to be wearing a shirt with Molly's name
on it and the Heavens twenty seven logo, and he hopes.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
That it starts conversation.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So he can share with everyone some insights into his
precious daughter and all the.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Kids at Camp Beautiful. Just an amazing way to deal
with tragedy.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Producer Anthony always exciting when we get news of more
good food heading our way out in sugar Land. They're
gonna be looking forward to getting a MIA's table. This
is awesome. Yeah, it's part of the Caraba family's chain
of American Comfort of Food restaurants. They've got a two
point two million dollars build out planned over off Lexington
in the market at Town Center.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Lots of really good food to look forward to.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
They feature simple stuff like chicken fried, steak, burgers, mac
and cheese fried Chicken again, think Comfort Foods. They've got
six locations across Houston currently, but get excited. The new
sugar Land MEA's Table expected sometime next year.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
It is so fun and it's great for kids to
so many fake exactly. I met my nash is my
fifth child. I met his fiance's mother. I was like, well,
where do you want to meet? She goes, Let's meet
at MIAs.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's so fun.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Okay, speaking of food, honestly, we might just want to
go to the Big Airport just to get some good eats,
joining the Breakfast Club and Hubcap Grill and Landryes and
Papa's Concepts.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Pizarro's Pizza.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yes, it's the Napoleon Nepole Latina Pizza already with locations
inside the Loop and in West Houston. And it's gonna
be a beginning construction at the Terminal B February of
next year.

The Eighties and today it's a feel good Friday.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
I'm Dana with producer Anthony and Anthony the Austin County
Fair is going on.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
So last night it was a family affair. My daughter
in law, Sarah.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
They've got four kids, a brand new little baby, Sophia,
and then the three others. And I took my other
daughter in law Claire with me so we could help
Sarah and they could enjoy the rodeo and all the
carnival and all the rides and everything. Right, Well, Bella,
who's two, wasn't tall enough to go on.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Any of the rides. Oh, she was so.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Because she wants to do everything her brother and sister
are doing.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah. So then Sarah says to.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Me, Okay, why don't you see if you can take
her down the slide. Well the slide was this huge
slide over in the corner, and I was like, okay,
So I gave her back Sophia, the baby. She had
to go get tickets for me to get down the slide,
and I mean, you didn't need tickets for everything. They
give you these armbands and you can just refill it

(05:27):
the money that you can spend.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
So fast, leave you disappears essentially.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So this sweet guy who's monitoring the entrance gate to
the gate looks at me and I don't know if
I looked terrified or what, but he said to me,
are these all yours? And I said, uh huh, And
he said, come on, come on, you can go up.
I said, yeah, he goes, just go up. You just
I'm gonna let you go up like that's awesome. But
Sarah's going to get the tickets. No, no, no, you

(05:55):
just go up. So I said, I just looked it like.
I looked at his eyes and you a big smile
on his face. I'm like, he is tricking me. This
is going to be the fastest slide ever.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
And he just wants to laugh at me. Right yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
So I look at him and I said, thank you
so much. And we walk up all these stairs. I've
got little Bella ahead of me, and you take like
a a sack that's going to make it go even faster.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
It's one of those yes. So I make it to
the top.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
I tell the guy at the top, I'm already exhausted,
you know, just walking up these stairs.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yes, it sits me down.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
He puts Bella in my lap and he says, now
go yeah, okay, horror movie.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Or huge slide with a two year old in your lap.
My gosh, I had no idea what I was in for.
I would neither. We had more fun.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
She's screaming, she's crying by the end, but I held
her tight.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
It was so fun.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
And I went by the guy who let me go
up for free. I said, you knew this was going
to be like I needed excitement in my life, and
you made it happen.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
That was so so sweet.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
That is sweet though, those little those little gestures like
that man, like they just.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I've told you when they when when when you're in.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
The crosshairs of one of those, it always just stops
you in your tracks and you're just like, oh, you know.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I just remember his face.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
I just I don't know his name, but he was
just such a sweet guy.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
And it's so fun for our family and the joy
he brought exactly exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
We would love you.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
On a feel good Friday, we love to share stories
of people who do just little things for you that
make you feel good.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Or maybe you did something you didn't even.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Think it was a big deal and yet the response
was like, wow, it actually is a bi exactly. Give

three two one two five ninety nine one Sunday ninety
nine point one Houston's Best Variety the eighties nineties And

Friday and we're talking about things that made you feel

(07:43):
good this week.

Speaker 1 (07:45):

Speaker 2 (07:45):
It's such an inspiration for others to do good as well.
And we have got a Laurie who is in college station.
Now you're in an elementary school, our teacher, Laurie. That's
so ironic. We spoke with Lisa Cooper earlier this week.
We made it a feel good week for her. She's
also an elementary school teacher. She was nominated for our

(08:05):
Visit Florida Teacher of the Month trip to Naples, Florida,
and want it. We need to get you into this, Laurie.
It's such a great fun time for you and your family.
And there's got to be a good news, a feel
good Friday, good news story that you've got to share.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Well?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I am you know so our kindergartener seems to get
younger and younger every time. Every year, right, every year,
them having find any type of fine motor skill is
becoming less and less, all right, because everybody's you know,
like the parents are putting electronic devices in their in
their hands, so when they come to school, they don't

(08:44):
know how to hold a pencil or crayon. They don't
know how to even old scissors. Well, we're nine weeks
in the school and yesterday one of my students who
has never had all the scissors, never had to write
his name. He was using scissors to cut his hand

(09:07):
print out, and he was so excited and kept saying,
I did it, I did miss.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I did it, I did it. He was so thrilled
to death the light bulb moment, and.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
That is always a feel good that is excellent.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
He said that when we talk to teachers, it's always
when they figure something out seems to bring you guys
such joy because obviously this is a calling for you.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Lorie, I think so that is I've been doing it
twenty six years, I think so.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Oh yeah, definitely, Ah, Laurie, what a great story. It's
the little things, right, I mean, this is such a
great memory for that little guy.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
It is I do want to tell you I was.
I did receive nine emails from you guys stating that
I was nominated. Oh my god, oh Laurie, but I
had to have it one.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Oh that is excellent.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Well, you know, hang in there, because we're doing this
all you long, and you never know you might be
our next teacher winning that trip to Florida, just you
and your best friend, your spouse, whoever, just to get
away from it all so we can show how much
we appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Hi, thank you very much all.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Lurie, thanks so much, and good luck to you. Yes
and other teachers listening. You can check it out.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
It's right there at sunny ninety nine dot com and
people who nominate teachers could win two hundred and fifty dollars,
so it's a pretty sweet deal. And Glorie, have an
excellent feel good Friday, and thank you for listening.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Thanks, have a great day.
