the three things you need to know to get your Wednesday,
November fifth, started well, yesterday was election day.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Well, we're going to have a runoff for to fill
the late Congressman Sylvester Turner seat. Christian Manafee and Amanda
Edwards were pretty much neck and neck all seventeen Texas
Constitution amendments passed and topics like tax relief, education funding,
public safety, and criminal justice reforms. And for those of
you who went out and exercised your right to vote
(00:36):
like I did, it.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Makes you feel good.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
You know. Now in New York, their newly elected mayor
wants to reduce their police force. So Houston's police officers
union put out a flyer saying.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Hey, New York police, Houston is hiring and the pay
is competitive. We'll see how that works out.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
And it's day thirty six of the government shutdown, now
officially the longest on record. Still tricky at the airports
though now at Bush Airport. Remember there's only two checkpoints,
Security checkpoints open, So that's what's been causing these delays.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
It was okay yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:11):

but it is a mission of the heart. You know.

nice Christmas gift and find out all the good deeds

Recently, community community leaders and residents gathered over at James
Driver Park for the unveiling of a mural dedicated to
a fallen Harris County Deputy Houston artist Duel unveiled a
beautiful mural led by Harris County Precinct two Commissioner Adrian
Garcia and Sheriff edgins auz All to honor fallen Harris
County Deputy Darren Almandares. He lost his life back in
twenty twenty two while trying to stop some suspected car burglars,
(02:27):
and the mural is actually part of Commissioner Garcia's Love
Letters to Precinct two's public art initiative under their Revived
to Thrive program. It transforms local public spaces into these
beautiful expressions of local pride and culture and in this case,
a beautiful mural to help us honor one of our
own once again. You can find the mural honoring Deputy
Darren Almandares. It's at James Driver Park near sixty nine
in Little York. I love art that honors our loved ones. Well.
Speaker 1 (02:49):

nine point one, Houston's best variety of the eighties nineties,
and today seven to twelve.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Now, I'm Dana with producer Anthony, and.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
We learned that forty two percent of us have already
started shopping for holiday cheer. Now that's everything. That's our food,
our decorations, it all falls under that umbrella. Yeah, yeah,
and that's probably about right. I haven't done anything yet,
but my mind is thinking about it. I have a
feeling once we start with the Christmas music here, everything
(04:00):
starts moving a little bit more clearly in my mind.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Oh that's what you start. A very festive answer.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I've already started doing the boiling the pot pourri, though,
I get this hobby lobby pot pourri. I started boiling
that in the mornings, so when my husband wakes up,
the house smells very christmas y. So that's my first step.
But as far as Christmas gives, I'm just waiting for
that inspiration.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
How about you any or what's going to strike? Yeah,
we we haven't done much. There's a handful of things
that we've done because well, I say we, Jess like
because she's already planning it. She's a planner, so she's
already planning ahead for people that are hard to get for.
So we have, like I want to say two or
three things like that's literally about it.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
But we're the same way.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
We usually wait till right around when we get the
Christmas music going, and then it's like full on, let's go.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
We're all in exactly, and I try to do themes.
I've got such a big family, the kids, their spouses.
I'll never forget the one year they were on a
super sale UG bathrobes. I got all the girls' UG bathrobes.
I think they were like they got down to thirty
nine dollars or something, and there I got black and
pink and blue. I just bought them mediums and larges,
(05:12):
and then just like gave them out to the girls.
Don't sleep on those ugs. Things like the blanket's amazing.
They are amazing to be. When you wash them, they
just get softer. So I'm just waiting hoping that something
like that will enter my world.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
And the themes make it a lot easier too. We
will do the same thing.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I like, comfortable.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
We're getting the same thing for at least three or
four of our family member, like something they all need,
but it's it makes it easier knowing like, hey, this
is something every one of them.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Right right, crafts for the kids, and then something comfy
for the adults is what I'm always aiming for. And
then which is always great really good food. I just like,
I mean, that's mandatory, right, What about you guys? Have
you already started? Who here has finished their Christmas shopping?
Call us seven ones and he used to do it
seven one three ninety nine one, Sunday ninety nine point one.
(06:00):
I'm Dana with producer Anthony and we've got Houston's best
variety of.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
The eighties nineties, and today we learned it.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Our nearly impossible question is six of us have already
stopping for holiday cheer.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
That means gifts and food, any of it, decorations, all
of it.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Only forty two percent some of us, though, have already
finished our Christmas gift shopping.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
You're asking you.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
About your holiday shopping, and we have got Amy pulling
in from spring a pharmacist. Now, about half have already
started shopping for the holidays.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Amy, what about you?
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I'm on the other half. I haven't heard of yet.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
All right, Well me, is this typical?
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Like are you just kind of a last minute shopper
or you know, maybe you're just I.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Think I'm on my Friday shopper one of those. Yeah,
after Thanksgiving? You actually go to stores? Or do you
do it online? Oh? I'm all right? Have you set aside?
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Have you been saving money for the holidays all year?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Are you just going to put it on credit cards?
What credit card it is?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah? How we do in the same boat as all
of us. Now, do you have a big family to
buy for or how do you have? What is it
like buying for the holidays for you? I don't have
much too much of a large family. Are the average?
Speaker 2 (07:19):
And are you going to have Christmas at your house?
I don't know yet, you person.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Oh okay, that'll be fun going to Grandma's house. Are
you a big fan of Christmas music?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I know you guys are always starting it soon. Yeah.
We are the holiday and you're going to start this month?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Yeah, aren't you all?
Speaker 1 (07:41):
So that's what you predict. We're going to begin Christmas
music after Thanksgiving. Amy, I want you to keep listening
for the answer. Okay, okay, you have a great day.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Thanks so much for listening. We appreciate you, all right, Anthony.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Appreciate you. Amy. Let's head up to Montgomery and speak
with Tara.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Are you one of those who waits till the last minute?
Or have you already completed your Christmas shopping?
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:04):
No, I'm half we done? Oh wow, But do you.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Have a set day where I'm going to be done
by November fifteenth?
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I just I have to. I get so much anxiety.
I have two grand babies, so I got.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
To do that.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
So now, so you get anxiety, like what happens? What?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
What makes you so anxious during the holidays? This is
supposed to be a season of joy.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
It is, and I love this season. It's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I just I don't want to feel rush. Yeah, okay,
it's all knocked out. Now, are the baby's going to
come to your house for the holidays?
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I think that we all go to the mama's house
because the mama makes the magic. Also, I got to
have that and I want them to have that.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I oh, yeah, Mom's got the magic.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
I love that, Tira. I hope you guys wanted the
baby's names Azaryah and Josiah. Fastic.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Well, you guys have the merriest of Christmases and keep listening.
You make sure those babies listen to that Christmas music
that we're going to have here on Sunny Okay, okay,
thank you so much.
