Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and Today Dana in the Morning and producer
Anthony and the Three Things You Need to Know to
get your Thursday July tenth started well. NASA is now
helping out in the July fourth flooding recovery effort going
on in Kerr County using sensor technology, deploying two aircraft
from Ellington. It's incredible technology and it's really needed for
(00:24):
the search and recovery because the Cajun Navy has highlighted
the extent the absolute devastation from the force of the
Guadalupe River. Ryan Trasher, the vice president of theis Louisiana
based Rescue Group, said that he saw a trailer nearly invisible.
They could only see the tops of the wheels under
(00:46):
a thick layer of silt, indicating how hard the recovery
effort has been finding things right. So this sensor technology
is definitely needed. Plus you can help out finance antially
that is desperately needed because it affords rescue and recovery
efforts more flexibility and all you have to do. The
(01:08):
Community Foundation of the Hill Country has established the Kirk
County Flood Relief Fund. It's all local, all vetted rescue groups.
You can check them out Kirk County Flood Relief. You'll
find their link at Sunny ninety nine dot com. And
speaking of flooding, we've got more rain on the way now,
a fifty percent chance today and tomorrow in our area,
(01:30):
but that rain chance increases over the weekend. We're going
to go up to ninety two today. Right now, it's
seventy five in Uptown and you're up to date from
Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me something good brought
to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. While this
spirit is still strong after the fourth of July floods
in the Hill Country, there's a place called Crider's Rodeo
(01:54):
and Dance Hall suffered massive damage on the fourth of
July flooding. This same day, it was set to celebrate
its one hundred year old birthday. Now Tracy Moore, the owner,
she saw the water rising fast and she made everyone evacuate.
The dance Hall, an institution in the Hill Country, severely damaged,
(02:16):
but now it's pivoted. It's being used as a command
post for search and recovery operations. The place is making
a huge difference. Tracy said, you just got to pick
yourself up and move forward.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
It's like they didn't even blink.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
They suffered damage, they saw the devastation, and they moved
into action to become a place of a command station
for the recovery effort.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
It's unbaievable. Producer Anthony Dane.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I was wondering about this and so happy to hear
that one of our local shelters has stepped in to
help with all the chaos resulting from the Central Texas flood.
Staff from our Houston Humane Society recently traveled to the
Hill Country for a rescue mission this past Tuesday and
happy to report they returned to twenty six dogs and puppies.
Right now via transported animal are getting comprehensive care while
awaiting permanent or foster homes. The Houston Humane Society says
(03:04):
the relocation was necessary to free up critical space for
flood displaced animals. They even sent a shelter vet over
to San Angelo to help out their local shelter. So
now the focus becomes on finding these animals foster or
a new permanent home. So if you're interested in fostering
Volunteers need only to provide a large safe room such
as a bathroom or laundry room to house the animals temporarily,
and the Houston Humane Society will provide all the necessary
(03:26):
supplies including pet food, medicine, and beds. So if you
are interested throwing some support for the Central Texas for babies,
check out their website Houston Humane dot org.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
And God Bless Angel Pause Pet Therapy. Debbie Bennington with
Angel Pause knew that God wanted these dogs to help
in the relief effort, and so Angel Pause drove two
hundred and seventy miles to the Salvation Army in Curveville
with the therapy dogs, and they are now being used
to comfort survivors and relief workers. The simple act of
(04:00):
heading and cuddling with one of these rescue dogs.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Is a powerful gift.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So yes it is again, It's Angel Pause Pet Therapy
and for more feel good stories. Each weekday morning set
a preset on the new and improved iHeartRadio app. Just
Sunday ninety nine point one. Sunday ninety nine point.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
One, It's seven twenty two.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Now I'm Dama with producer Anthony and we've got Houston's
best variety of the eighties, nineties and today on a
starting out sunny day, but it's going to start raining
again this afternoon for your Thursday fifty percent chance of
rain today and tomorrow. Actually greater rain chances coming up
this weekend. Today we go up to ninety two. Right now,
it is seventy five in Uptown and Anthony, you've been
(04:41):
looking at all the nutritional benefits of ice cream and
you said, if you finish your entire carton of Halo Top,
you've added a lot of protein.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, it's like sixteen grams of protein and just the
little pint thing.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I didn't know that. Yeah, it's so fantastic. I was
talking about the health benefits of ice cream. I just
thought it was a mental thing.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
No, you're eating socially and you're feeling good and the
creaminess releases those feel good hormones.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
But now you're saying you get protein. It's literally in
the nutrition Fast.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
I was like, wow, we're asking you on National ice
Cream Month, and we learned that it's our favorite summertime activity.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yes, eating ice cream.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
It's just when you're sad, it makes you feel good
when you're happy. It brings you more joy. And we've
got Rachel calling in now. What is your favorite ice
cream flavor and brand? Rachel, go, oh, my Bluebell chocolate,
just the plain chocolate. Is it like Dutch chocolate chocolate
with anything in it?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Well? My favorite nuts for pecann. So if I can
find some of pecns, I'll throw that in there. Otherwise,
just milk chocolate.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Milk, oh, milk chocolate. Okay, you know, Rachel, it's funny.
I move my parents here from Vermont, and I swear
the thing that made my dad so healthy was when
he discovered Bluebell Dutch chocolate ice cream.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
He couldn't get enough. Gosh, yeah, I love it. I
just enjoy every spoonful. I go really slow. Oh, just
one serving? Or do you have to go back and
get another? No, I have to go back and get another.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Bank you I'm.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Serving well, Rachel.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
We appreciate you, and yes, a fun summertime activity that
we can do here in the Houston area all year
long eating ice cream.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Well, you have a great day, Rachel. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, Thank you, Bye bye, bye bye.
