Last memorable rainfall or measurable i should say, with September

But we just saw a longer term weather forecast. Looks
like we're going to be dipping into the fifties for
the lows next week. So a little taste of fall

(01:49):
coming out not too far away, that's right, but not today.

the Port of Galveston, one of the final steps before

bridges were headed for Terminal sixteen. It's been under construction
since last year twenty twenty four, and the new bridges
are going to be connecting the Terminal sixteen concourse to
waiting cruise ships preparing for departure. MSc Cruises is going

(03:21):

in Galveson Island the new Terminal sixteen set for opening
November nineteen.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I also love this so glad that schools are using this.
That is available to these schools. It's called ever driven,
and I wanted to spotlight it. They specialize in transporting
students with unique needs, disabilities, housing instability. Ever Driven is
a modernized transportation solution. It's now in thirty six states,

(03:58):
eight hundred school districts, including several right here in the
Houston area.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
And here's the deal, Anthony.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
The same driver picks up the student every day in
the same vehicle, brings these students, these are special needs
students or students with hardships, brings them to their extracurricular activities,
all kinds of events. It's called ever driven, and we
are so ever grateful they exists for our students.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
And for our feel good stories.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Each weekday mornings set a preset on the new and
improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny Natty nine point one Sunday
naty nine point one it is seven twelve. Now I'm
Dana with producer Anthony, and we've got Houston's best variety
of the eighties, nineties and today, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I wanted to show you this.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Hmm.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Okay, hold on, Jess, does that go anest?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
You are looking at a big chocolate chip cookie batter
being whipped up.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
That's not just regular batter.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
That's sour dough chocolate chip cookiee Who They are my
favorite cookies. I get them from a company called Rafa
Kitchen and Co. And you can order them on line.
The thing is, though, once they unfreeze, you must cook them.
You can't just keep them in your refrigerator. So we
were at a party over the weekend and there were
extra packages of these Rafa Kitchen and Company chocolate chip

(05:14):
sour dough chocolate chip cookies left. I volunteered to take
them home. So you know what I did. I cooked
them all and then froze them. Ooh, so I am
going to be digging into some frozen chocolate chip sour
dough cooking.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
That sounds amazing. Actually, yeah, And I don't you don't
need a lot.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
A little goes a long way with a glass of milk.
Oh my gosh, joyful times, sad times, there's gonna be
a cookie there for me in the freezer, just waiting.
I love cookies and chocolate chip obviously my most favoritable
chocolate chip.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah. And so when we.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Did this nearly impossible question this morning, I thought, no way.
I mean, the average American we have two hundred and
seventy a year.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
That's less than a cookie a day.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Less than a cookie a day. What about those days
you have like a whole batch of cookies. I was
gonna say a whole stash of.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Cookie, you know, I mean, I just thought that was
so funny. But I'm just so curious. I mean, I
used to live on Oreo cookies. I love still cookies.
Do you see I've had to I've kind of simplified
my my cookie world because I had to stop the addiction.
So it's either chocolate chip cookies or nothing.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Never forget where you came from. I know, I understand
that the whole opportunity cookie person, I.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Know I understand that, but I had to just say
stop the madness. So, but I do want to ask
you if you're an Oreo cookie, I mean, is that
your all time favorite?

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I don't know if it's all time it typinicitely a
go to. Mine has to be sugar, just like a
plain sugar cookie.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I love that so much. I love that ever since
I was a kid. Such a waste.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
If you want to add in, if you want to
add in some m and ms or anything to that, like,
I'm totally fine with that. But I can go very
plain like that or just as is hersus chocolate ship.
But I'm also a red velvet person too. I could
do that.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Oo, that would be good. I like the interesting aspect
of that. What about you your favorite cookie and how
many do you eat at a time or if you
put on a stop, I can only eat like one
cookie or a cookie and a half. I needs to
be a two cookie. But I'm telling you I've gotten
really good at just being a half a cookie a
day person.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Half a very proud of myself.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Seven one three two one two five ninety nine one
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety the eighties
nineties And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and we're
talking cookies because it was just shocking when we learned
that the average American only eats two hundred and seventy
cookies a year, and there are three hundred and sixty
five days in a year.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
And so the numbers just don't add up.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
And even though chat GPT is down because of that
power outage, I don't need chat gpt Anthony to figure
out that those numbers are wrong. Yeah, we love our cookie, Matthey, Mathews,
I know, and we certainly rarely just have one at
a time. At least two at a time. Seems to
be on average, right, unless you're super disciplined, which I'm

(08:02):
trying to become. Anyway, we're asking you about your favorite cookies,
and we've got Jerry calling in from Mont Bellevue. Now you're, uh,
you drive a semi locally, all right, what's your favorite
all time cookie?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Jerry?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Soft batch cookies soft batches that you get at the
grocery store, like a brand name.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Uh it's called soft Batch. Yes, you get them at
the Walmart.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Actually soft batch. What is it about those cookies that
just get you going? Ah?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
You can put for them on a paper plate, put
them in a microwave, forum them up, and they're just
they're awesome. I get me out a little bit.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Oh sound like heaven. Okay, Now I'm curious.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
So he tests four cookies at a time, and uh,
what's your what's your beverage of choice? When you've got
that nice hot soft batch cookie.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Milk, cold milk is the best fight in a freezer
for just a little bit, and get it. Let it
get really cold.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
It's got the holes. He knows down, he knows what
to do. This is really really ceremonial for you, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Jerry? Yes, it is.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
I love it. It's probably your favorite part of the day.
Now is it a daily occurrence or.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Is this just for special occasions like if you've had
a bad driving day.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
My wife let me have him at least every three days.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
You know what, that's not too bad. I like that
everything else, right?

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:20):
So what's your wife's name, Jerry?

Speaker 4 (09:22):
Ronda?

Speaker 2 (09:22):
And what is it about Rhonda that you just love
so much? Jerry?

Speaker 4 (09:26):
She's just so sweet. He's a love in my life.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Oh that's excellent.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Well, I am glad you shared, and I'm glad you
found a little Jerry time, a little happy place for
you after some driving.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
What are you hauling today?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
I work for a rebar company in Dayton, Texas.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Oh, cool, awesome, Yeah, making that happen, making the building
and the concrete and what is the rebar for roads
and stuff?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yes, it's it's everything.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Jerry, Well, drive safe, keep up the good work, and
thanks so much for listening to Sonny.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
I appreciate all of you guys, listen to you every
day
