Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday nighty nine point one on data with producer Anthony.
We've got the three things you need to know to
get your Wednesday, August twenty seven started Harris County holding
the highest risk store risk score that is for hurricanes
in the nation. We've got a one hundred percent high
risk score. That's not something to be happy, but it's
(00:23):
where we live. What can we do. We share the
rank with Florida's Miami Dade County. Texas as a whole
is among the top states in projected hurricane losses. Well,
there's a bill that's introduced to the House that is
going to change the Youth Camp Advisory Committee. They're going
to vote on it at the House. It calls for
(00:45):
more members of the community that are in like emergency management,
law enforcement. They're looking for a pediatrician, a water safety expert. Oh.
They also want increased requirements for camp staff to keep
the kids safe. YEP, it's a love story and we're
going to be following her every day because her dress
was adorable. The ring is unbelievable. Taylor Swift is engaged
(01:09):
to her boyfriend Travis kelce I was reading a body
expert says that she is definitely the goddess in that thing,
and he's just so happy that he has ah got it.
That picture on their social media will show to a
body expert, and she looked super comfortable and confident, really cute,
and the engagement took place. He had his garden, his
(01:32):
rose garden transformed into this paradise for the proposal, which
apparently happened two weeks ago. Taylor also made it into
the Guinness Book of World Records for being on Travis's podcast,
which you can check out on the iHeartRadio app. New
heights most views of any podcast ever. I mean, it's
just it's the Taylor Swift effect. It is. By the way,
(01:53):
our weather today we might have some rain, we've got
some scattered showers. We're going to go up to ninety.
That's a nice thing right now, it's eighty and up
town and you're up to date, un sunny. Tell me
something good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
I love thrift stores. There's this online thrift store that
I just got these jeens from. They came in the mail.
There's Zara jeans. It's from thread Up, cute little pockets
(02:15):
in the back. I got them for fifteen dollars. I know,
but you know I checked the pockets. There is nothing
in the pockets. Anytime I know a thrift store, I
never find gold like so many other people do. Like
Wendy White Yep, she's a Houstonian. She was at a
thrift store called the Cottage and she found a shelf
area labeled rocks five dollars. It's at the Cottage shop.
(02:38):
She's a teacher. She's like, this would be so cool
for the students. I'll get these rocks. The kids can
play with them on the floor. Well, one of the
rocks was really weird looking. It was kind of ridged
and strange and big. She found out it was a
fossilized tooth from a mammoth, a wooly mammoth, what's possibly
twenty five thousand years ago, you know. So, is she
(02:59):
gonna sell it and make a bunch of money. No,
She's gonna mount it and keep it in her art studio. Wow.
Cool Producer Anthony Dane. This is as Texas as it gets.

Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best Variety of the eighties, nineties,
and Today, Data in the Morning and producer Anthony a
nearly impossible question at six point forty this morning, we learned,
if you don't want to get your kids into a
bad mood, do not tell them to finish their homework
first thing in the morning. That's a real conundrum, Anthony,
because they've got to finish their homework. They do, they
(04:58):
didn't do it the night before. Mm hmm. Right. That
was never a problem for me. I always got my
homework done. I was always rushing around in the morning,
never had time to sit and do my homework. And
you know what I wanted to do in the morning.
That was my favorite thing my mom would get. We
probably had five, six, maybe seven boxes of my favorite cereals.
I mean Strawberry that the Count Jocula, the strawberry, the chocolate.
(05:23):
I had, Cheerios, I had Raisin Brand, so many cereals
to choose from. I would sit there with my bowl
of cereal and read everything on the box. Everything I'd
turn the box. It was very calming to me to
just sit there and read the box of cereal. That
was your thing to look forward to, though it was
what I looked forward to. You knew you were gonna
have a fun cereal and that that was your process.
(05:45):
It was delicious. It just was very calming to me.
I read the box over and over. It's not like
I was learning anything new. I just that was my
little thing that I did every morning. And it's so funny.
I was adamant about eating breakfast before school. Now I
know every breakfast as an adult, I don't know. I
know I half ate it.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I was pretty I was pretty good at eating it
in school, but I was one of those that would
try to finish their homework sometimes in the morning, and
that was not a good That was a good look
for me.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I had to have it done at night. I was
too afraid of my teachers. What about you, Are you
one of those procrastinators finishing your homework in the morning
after my dad or begging you, or are you pretty
on top of it just because you don't want to
deal with the hassles of what's gonna happen if you
don't do your homework? Seven to one three and kids,
feel free to call seven and Mom's Dad's seven one
(06:34):
three two one two ninety nine Sunday ninety nine point one,
Houston's best variety of the eighties nineties and Today I'm
Dana with producer Anthony Taylor. Swift and Travis are engaged.
I love that they said, your English teacher and your
gym coach are getting married. And now we're finding out
that Martha Stewart has offered to plan the wedding. Oh
(06:54):
my gosh. I mean, I don't know if Taylor's going
to take her up on it, but she's offered it,
so that's pretty cool. You can check it all out
up on our Facebook at Sunny ninety nine Houston. Now
you know Taylor when you read about the experiences her
teachers had in school, Taylor was constantly writing poetry. I
don't know if she did her homework or not, but
(07:16):
I do know she was very good at writing poetry.
And look at her. Now we are talking about homework. Kids,
Listen up, because in our nearly impossible question, we learned
that moms and dads, if you want to put your
kids in a bad mood, first thing in the morning,
tell them to finish their homework. We've got to use
tact so they don't end up cranky, because then it
makes our lives miserable. So work. Our question is, do
(07:41):
you do your homework kids? What's your experience? Moms and dads?
Do you have to tell the kids to do their
homework in the morning when they should have done it
the night before? And we've got a kid on the line? Jose? Yep, Now, Jose,
you're headed to school. Now what grade are you in? Love?
I am in grade six? Fantast Jose. Do you get
your homework done at night or do you do it
in the morning or do you just not do it
(08:02):
at all?
Speaker 2 (08:02):
I do it like at night?
Speaker 1 (08:03):
You do? Oh? How long do you spend at night
doing homework? Jose? Like fifteen minutes? Why, it's very nice
feteen minutes. Do you feel proud of yourself when you
get your homework done? All right? And Jose, when you
get home from school and you have a little dinner,
maybe watch a movie or something, does mom have to
(08:24):
say now, Jose, get your homework done? Or do you
do it all by yourself? To me, the same thing
every day, Jose, how come you just don't figure out
to just do it on your own? Because I don't
really get my homework? Oh, you know it's always nice
to have a teacher who lets you do your homework
in school, right, yes, you do? You love your teacher? Yeah,
(08:47):
I love home my teachers, that is, Jose. All right.
When you're done with school and you grow up, what
do you want to do? I think I shall be
a doctor doctorletoligis. Wow, man, I don't even know what that.
What is a palaeontologist? Do dinosaurs? Yestologist? Dig it up?
Dinosaur bur That's right, it's amazing, Jose. Well, the best
(09:11):
of luck to you, honey. And how did you find
sunny ninety nine point one? Can listened to it early
on the radio. I'm so glad, Jose, thank you he
has just made our day. Thank you so much for
calling and sharing a little bit of your life.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I hope you have a great day at school. Thank you.
Let's sit over to Leak City and speak with Amanda.
Is there anything in the morning we learned this morning
that you know when you ask your kids if they
finish their homework in the morning, that puts the mood.
Does anything put your motivated daughter Ava in a bad mood?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Well, the thing that puts her in a bad mood
is why is there laundry all over your floor?
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Oh, it's the laundry. She's going to be one of
those that there's gonna be the laundry is gonna be folded,
It's gonna be done on time. This girl just seems
like an amazing gem.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
No, no, so with her. She chooses to do her
work so she doesn't have to do the chores.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
You know, Mom, I'm working on my homework. That is genius, brilliant, Yes.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
But not just frustrate persono. And because she always says, Mom,
I had too much homework to do. I just couldn't
get it all done. I'll get it done today. And
then today comes and the laundry is filled there.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Oh my gosh, that is incredible. So with you, Amanda,
it's not honey, finish your homework before you go to school.
It's finish your laundry before you go to school.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yes, and everywhere.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
What is what? Maybe, Ava? What does she want to
be when she grows up?
Speaker 3 (10:38):
She is right now say psychologists. It was a pediatrician before.
But she's also dabbling in some of the college coaches.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
What what year is she she's a junior? That is
just amazing incredible. Has she always been this? I mean
for kids who are listening, you know, trying to get
motivated to do homework. Has she always been like this?
Or did something happen in her life that made her realize,
you know, it's really important to get your homework done.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
It's just always been something that I have pushed. I
wanted her to always be prepared. I think, to be
honest with you, I with myself. I did not push
myself as hard as I know that I could have,
and so I've always pursued better you know things throughout
my life. But I'm still doing that. So I want
(11:20):
her to be a little bit more prepared for life
than I was.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Amanda, Wow, that is a perfect answer. I love it.
That's excellent. Well you and Amanda. Just the best of
luck to the two of you, and I hope she
achieved all her dreams and making her mom proud.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Thank you,
