Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one. We are Houston's holiday music station.
I'm Dana with producer Anthony and the three Things you
need to Know to get your Wednesday, December seventeenth started, Well,
you've had fifty four minutes possibly of no power out
in Tomball.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
We are praying for you, guys. Yeah. The power outage
began at seven this morning.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Road closures in the area as Center Point Energy crews
are replacing power lines and polls.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It's supposed to last until three this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Closures affecting areas along West Main Street between Pine and Elm.
You're going to see about seventy trucks working hard in
the area to get these upgrades complete. It's the price
of progress, I guess. And man, I just couldn't even imagine, right,
all day long, not only delays, but no power. So
maybe you want to do something like an experience for Christmas? Right,
(00:52):
So you're gonna ask mom and dad for FIFA tickets
the World Cup tickets for Christmas. Now, I did some checking.
Houston tickets in the third lottery phase start at just
one hundred and forty dollars, Okay, I mean I thought
they'd be like oodles.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Multiples of it.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yet the most expensive tickets are for Portugal's matches, and
those are going to start at to sixty five and
go up to seven hundred. Still, I mean, I'm still
kind of shocked that I thought that it's more accessible
for the way higher. Yeah, So one week until Christmas Eve,
I went to the post office yesterday and said, I'm
trying to get my boxes sent in time for the
(01:31):
Christmas cutoff date, which is today for ground mail, which
is the cheapest you can go priority, but I want
a ground So the sweet lady there said, you know,
we still can't guarantee it, just get your boxes in
as early as possible.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So when she said.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
That, I opted to pay that six dollars more, and
I went, so today is the cutoff for ground, but
if you've got little kids anxious for a Christmas gift
on Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Day, you might want to I'm just say safe.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
You know, if it's only five dollars difference, it's well eight.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
I appreciate her honesty. I know me too. So weather today,
rain and warm.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
We're gonna go up to sixty eight right now, and
we've got a sixty percent chance of rain right now.
We're at sixty three in Uptown and euro up to
date on Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me something
good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
Just take it a Christmas gift idea for the person
who has everything money can buy.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
They're not just premium, but.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
They are ultra premium seats coming to Energy Stadium.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
The Texans unveiled these two ultra premium hospitality spaces for
fans yesterday. Now it's sponsored by BMW, which, by the way,
they will be chauffeing fans who buy these suites in
a BMW memberships are limited to forty five to.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
The lone Star ballroom.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Now, these memberships Anthony started to sixty thousand dollars. You've
got a twenty thousand dollars initiation fee. Then there's eleven
memberships available in the Emma Club Blue. These started one
hundred thousand dollars with a forty thousand dollars initiation fee.
These are the ones that offers the option of being chauffeured.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
In at BMWA to and from the Texans game.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Just thinking, you know, if you got a person on
your Christmas list, that might cover them just Thatyi oh
Lord producer Anthony.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Dane, this is awesome.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
There's a man out in Hockley who's one of seventeen
people nationwide being honored for the Carnegie Medal of Heroism,
North America's highest civilian award. His name is Juan Lopez.
He was attending a student band competition on February first
over Pasadena Memorial High School. He was with his wife,
young son, and in laws when an eighty three year
old man armed with a pistol enters the building, opens fire,
(03:41):
wounding one person. Juan realizes what's going on. Gunman is
heading his way. He grabs the man's hand, eventually forcing
the weapon to the floor, all off holding him down.
Eventually more guys got involved, helping restrain until police arrived.
And so this Carnegie Medal of Heroism recognizes individuals who
were serious injury or death to save others and also
comes with a financial grant as well. Thank you to
(04:03):
Jan Lopez out in Hockley. Brave actions. Who would that,
no doubt helps save even more lives.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Unbelievable, right he was born for a time as that.
I'm telling you what and when you're not playing football,
what do you do you do? Ballet, Former Longhorn and
current ESPN analyst did just that. He was Mother Ginger
in Ballet Austin's annual production of The Nutcracker. Fuzzy Whittaker
said he loved it and he joins others like Vince
(04:29):
Young and Kwan Cosby.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
They also did it in years past.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Now Mother Ginger, she's the biggest character in The Nutcracker,
represents a nurturing, protective, maternal figure. She is all joy
and community and I think she's probably the most fun
part of the whole Nutcracker experience.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Oh yeah, I love that idea. Fuzzy, great job and listen.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
We always have our tell Me Something Good stories up
for you at Sunny ninety nine dot com. You can
also listen on the Iheartratied app totally free.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
And make sure you make us a first preset.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Makes an even easier for you to listen to Houston's
Holiday Music Station Sunday naety nine point one Monday.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Natty nine point one, Houston's Holiday Music Station. It's seven
to ten.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Now I'm Dana with producer Anthony. I'm looking at the Pupsicle.
This is one of the highly rated toys on chewy
dot com and I love Chewie. They are the best
website for animals. There are so many great ideas Anthony
for all kinds of pets, super inexpensive. That is the
pupsicle They've got, the beanie bone, Bacon flavor, wishbone, the
(05:32):
Kong stuff, a ball dog toy. These are the things
that you put peanut butter in and then the dogs
just kind of you play throw with it, and then
the dogs get it and they start trying to lick
that peanut butter out.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Oh yeah, they have to work for it exactly. It
activates them.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
There's the wolf Party, pupsicle, treat, dispensing dog toy, the
multi pet lamb chop, squeaky plush dog. You show me
a dog that doesn't like any gift that you give
him hurt and I mean they all just love them.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Their tail are wagging.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
That tis so easy to buy gifts and so cost
effective for our pets. We learned with our nearly Impossible
question that forty percent of us plan to continue that
family tradition. Of course, given the pets a gift, Now
what do you give Lily for Christmas?
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Is it just some table scraps or an actual gift.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
It's an actual gift usually and sometimes it could be
like a new uh harness or like a sweater, because
she will wear those when against all fashion, yes sort of,
I know. Not every get lily shoes once. No, that's
the one thing she won't. She won't touch that. She
like I looked into those, trust me, the little was
it the booties for their for their Pody.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Gets super hot out or called out, or.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
When it's just wet like I because she'll I'll take
her out, you know, like early in the morning on
the weekends and if it's been you know, raining, or
if it's just humid out like she'll just you know,
I wanted to do that, but she won't let anything
on her paws, but she will wear the sweaters, and
so we've had fun with that. We got her a
SpongeBob one one year. I think Jess got her like
a she got one with like little.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Angel wings on it.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah, we don't do it all the time, but when
people ask, like we will absolutely say, oh, yeah, she'll
wear these things because it's cute and she and so
like you said, she just lights up and it's like,
oh that little face that she she makes When you
put it on, You're like, okay, I'm I'm I'm done.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
That's what it's for.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I was a powder at Christmas. I never got what
I wanted, so I pouted all day. It must have
made my mom crazy. But no pets pout. They just
love getting gifts. They love the attention. What about you, guys,
do you've a family tradition where you get your pets
of Christmas? Maybe they've got their own stocking. We'd love
to hear from you share it with us. Seven one
(07:35):
three two one two five ninety nine one one.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
That is Pom's last Christmas.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So we are Houston's holiday music station. I'm Dana with
producer Anthony talking about our pets. They're the easiest people
on our list to buy Christmas gifts for. They're always
so happy. They love it. They never complain or pout
like I used to. And we're asking you about your
pet gift giving tradition. We learned forty percent of us
are going to continue that tradition this year. It was
(08:04):
our nearly impossible question this morning, and we have got
Anita calling in from Katie, an accountant. Now, do you
have any pets you buy Christmas gifts for Anita.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
I do well, actually I don't, but I'm taking care
of my mom's dog right now because you sick, and
so we buy him.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Toys all and now let me ask you this. Did
your mom's pet? What's your mom's pets name?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Babe?
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Snoopy? Snoopy? Okay? Did Snoopy ever? Say?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
You know, Anita, I'm really not liking this gift. Can
we return it for something better? Or was it just
wagging tails and puppy dog guys?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Right?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
He's so happy every day. He's happy with anything. He
likes tennis ball, did anything.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
That's so cute?
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I bet, Anita, you don't even have to go to
the store to buy Snoopy a gift. You could just
look in your cabinet and find something.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Right, absolutely, all that is excellent.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Will you be taking care of Snoopy right through Christmas?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
I'll have Sweepy for a long time. I'm a recovering
from a stroke, so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
I'm telling you what. I'm sure. Mom feels so calm
that her.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Daughter's taking good care of her furry little friend.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yes, he's absolutely and he's in love.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Oh, Anita, that is so sweet. Story.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Thank you for sharing, and we wish you what's what's
your mom's name? We wish you and Shirley a very
merry Christmas. And thank you so much for listening to
the holiday music here on Sonny.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Thank you guys for bringing up so much joy. Dear

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Let's head out to Laporte and speak with Linda.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Pets and Christmas gifts. Linda, tell us about yours.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yes, I wanted to tell you. We always get our
pets something for Christmas. They get a big bone or
chewy something like that. They have their own stocking. We
used to have little dogs and we always did the
clothes too, but now we have bigger dogs. Yeah, and
so we always get ourselves something too, like a Christmas
order or something. But what I love to do is
we've got I've got my husband a couple of times.
You get those shirts said button up and you can
(10:00):
put the dog pictures on them.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Oh, what a great idea.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yeah, So we have our So he has those and
he always goes to work on Fridays with shirts and
he has pictures of the dogs or different things on them,
and he just everybody just loves them.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Use your dogs as a Christmas gift for your husband.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Is a great idea, Linda, I love that. I bet
the office cracks up when they see him.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
They do, they do, they love it.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
That is a great idea. What's your husband's name?
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Ed?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Well, what are you and Ted doing this Christmas?
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Oh? We're just heading around with the family. You just
doing the usual stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Well that sounds perfect. A nice quiet Christmas. Make sure
you make us your Christmas soundtrack. We will be playing
all of your Christmas favorites all day long.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Okay, we will.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
You guys have a merry Christmas too,
