Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday nighty nine point one. I'm Dana with producer Anthony.
We've got the three things you need to know to
get your feel good Friday started. It is August fifteenth,
and there are some concerned parents, as they should be,
after we learn three bus crashes involved in Cleveland ISD
buses this first week of school. District says they're still

(00:22):
all under investigation, no major injuries. Next week parents may
be meeting with the district to find out about possible
safer bus routes. Tomorrow's so much fun at Constellation Field
in sugar Land. If you haven't been there, it really
is a blast. It's such a great venue. Tomorrow is Saturday,
but it's actually going to be transformed into Catter Day.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yes, it's a day for cats, no extra charge. Your
cat's got to be on a leash or in a carrier.
Space cowboys going to be taking on Salt Lake City Bees.
Game time seven pm. Don't forget the dogs are taken
care of two because they have wagging Wednesday. Of course,
you know it always good out there, and we're looking
at these weather spaghetti models with this tropical system in

(01:06):
the Bay of Campeache fifty percent chance of developing, including
in the models Corpus Christy to Houston. The marginal risk
that's a one out of four for flooding, which is positive.
We could have scattered downpours though today and tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Today we're going to go up to ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Right now, it's eighty in Uptown and you're up to
date from Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me something
good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
I just love this story. Daniel and Martin Hernandez couple
of brothers. They both have full time jobs, but when
they're not working, they're not playing video games. No, they're
outspreading kindness, help and out families who are dealing with

(01:47):
financial difficulties with their free pressure washing services and lawn
care work.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
They're offering it to.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Neighbors, strangers, anyone in need. Now. This kindness started about
four years ago when their lawncare client shared that she'd
been struggling to afford her medications. They were looking at
her and just thought, you know what, we have the
resources we could help people like her out. And so
one day a week they offer free pressure washing and

(02:16):
lawncare and they film themselves on YouTube to give you
guys ideas on how we can all help. They've got
four hundred and fifty thousand followers now you could reach
out to them if you're needing a little bit of help.
MD Lawncare twenty twenty at gmail dot com producer Anthony Dane.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
There's a seven year old athlete from the Houston area
capturing all our hearts because of a video of her
insane performance in a relay race that went viral, racking
up over ten million views on insta. Her name is
Naomi Darby. She was competing for the Houston Hurricanes track team.
She sprinted the anchor leg of a four by one
hundred meter relay at the AAU Junior Olympics. It was insane.

(02:56):
She recently set a new long jump record in her
division and leads the nation in the four by one
hundred meters, amazing at her age.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Remember she's only seven. But this isn't all she does.
She's also a full time.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Gymnast, voting up to twenty hours a week to training,
dreaming of one day doing what no one has done before,
becoming an Olympics gold medalist in both sports. Her coaches
say she's the rare athlete who can balance elite training
in two highly demanding sports. And as for what inspires her,
of course, she says her family, but also cites our
resident Olympics goat Simone Biles and also Jordan Childs.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's incredible.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Congrats again to Naomi Derby on an amazing performance leaving
her market in sports. It's just seven years old. I
can't wait to see what she does in the future.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
How do you find a four by forty or four
by one hundred eighteen?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Uh huh seven? Right? Wow? That was my favorite race
in high school. She was crazy seven. That's incredible.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
And finally there is going to be an incredible show
banded together Texas Sunday. You want to be here at
seven o'clock. We are helping out our hill country families.
It's going to be a concert at Moody Center in
Austin again day night at seven. Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum,
Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lyle Lovett, Jack Ingram, Ryan Bingham

(04:07):
from Yellowstone.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Also Matthew McConaughey.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Will be there, Colt McCoy, Dennis Quaid and it's all
benefiting the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country teaming
up with iHeartRadio and I hope you can join us.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
We will have it live right here on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Nighty nine point one and for our feel good stories
each weekday mornings set a preset on the new and
improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny Natty nine point one, Sunday
Nightty nine point one in Houston's Best Variety of the eighties, nineties,
and today on this Feel Good Friday, I'm Dana with
producer Anthony. And Anthony, we learned in our Nearly Impossible
Question that almost seventy percent of guys call mom on

(04:46):
the weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
That's right. I love that.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
That is so the reason the weekends that we don't
have to rush through conversation.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, there's more time in chat with mom.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Course, such a feel good thing to do, and I
bet it makes mom so happy when you guys call.
Trust me, as a mom of four boys, that would
be super cool. Not calling for money. You're just calling
calling for money for me.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Oh yeah, And that's that's like dedicated time to catch
up because like I'll get text and you know, things
happen throughout the week, but it's like I know I'm
If I try to call during the week, I'm think
there's too much pressure or I'm not paying it as
much attention as i would like to. And that's why
the weekend, it's just I've got to clean. You know,
everything's open and I can give her the time she deserves.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Will be blessed. You will be blessed for doing that.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
We're talking about things that make you feel good on
a Friday, So calling mom, we'd love to hear about.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
What do you talk to mom about? If there's something
else that made you feel good this week?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Back to school this week, did you have an amazing experience?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
We would love to hear from you.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Now is the time to help Houston feel good seven
one three, two, one two five ninety nine to one
Sunday nighty nine.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
From Mine Houston's Best Fanity.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Of the eighties nineties and Today Feel Good Friday on
Dana with producer Anthony And even if you don't feel
that great today, maybe you're exhausted because this is the
first week of school and you're still dealing with stress
getting the kids already, just remember today is your special
day to feel good Friday.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Tellier about calling mom on the weekends.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Almost seventy percent of guys wait for the weekend to
call mom so you're not distracted, you have some time
to chit chat with her. Things that make you feel
good this week, that's what we talk about. And maybe
you had something that made you feel good, happened to
you at school or at work. Maybe someone made you
feel good or you made someone else feel good. We

(06:27):
love to hear your stories because your stories inspire us,
so we can kind of mimic you and do the
same for others.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
And we have got some callers on the line. We've
got Katie. That Katie is a.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Now you're a student at San Marcus. I love it there.
My nephew got married there. It was the most beautiful wedding.
And you're a little bit anxious because this is your
first week. So let me ask you. Did someone kind
of help you this week, maybe Katie, to help you
feel better?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yes, I'm so happy all summer, my AC has been
so bad. Yesterday my brother was like, mess up and yeah,
fix right away, and I was like.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
That isn't wait. So it was your brother or your
mother who fixed your a c My.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Brother he helped me also, thanks.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Oh wow, what's your brother's name.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
My brother's name is Mark.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Well, we have to give Mark a shout out. What
does Mark do? Tell us a little bit about him.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Mark, He worked for my dud company. But he's like
strangely really good with cars and anything that requires putting
together and picking apart.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Again. Oh, you always need somebody. He's a keeper. You
need to keep Mark around.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
He comes in handy a lot.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, that is beautiful, Katie. Listen.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
We hope you had the best time and have classes
already started?

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Those are I think on Thursday?

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Excellent? Well, have the best time, yep, and keep us
with you. We are here to kind of keep you
going all year long. Okay, of course I actually have
a question.

can listen to us all the time, totally.

Speaker 4 (08:14):

you study for your exams. Okay, thank you all right, love,
take care. You just made our day day. Thank you all.

with Jen, who works at HV and also as a
school crossing guard.

high school.

Speaker 4 (08:46):

Speaker 2 (08:50):
They tell us that none of our business. Uh huh, Yeah, yep,
I know about moms and dads. It's hilario. They tell
us who threw up all over the floor.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Gosh, hey, moms and dads who know Jan? Your secrets
are safe with Jan. She won't tell anybody to ask
you a question.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Yeah, why are you keeping Johnny.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Pip in your studio? Just producer Anthony? Oh my gosh,
there you Jan from e g ME. That is so funny.
