Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and
we've got the three things you need to know to
get your Monday, July fourteen started well, the National Hurricane
Center is highlighting an area in the Northern Gulf, giving
it a thirty percent chance of development over the next
seven days. They say, at least it's going to be
(00:22):
a rain maker wherever it ends up. Peak hurricane season
is September tenth, keep that in mind, and hurricane season
runs through November thirties, so it's just something to keep
our eyes on. Well, the rain in the Hill Country
called off the recovery efforts after the devastating fourth of
July flash flood. Search and rescue volunteers from all over
(00:43):
plan on resuming the recovery efforts today. Veteran James Baron
from Galveston says, we have a mission and we're doing it.
It's recovery and that's progress for those families. But he
was holding back tears when he said it. He said,
I'm just so so he's never seen anything like it.
And yesterday was Houston Day. Yes July thirteenth, seven one
(01:07):
three and the Rockets held a three point contest. Downtown
fans were there. Hall of Famer WNBA legend Cheryl Swoops
came out and she's hoping the Rockets will come up
with a great NBA team. She thinks it's time again,
and so did so many fans. Weather today starting out beautiful,
but then we've got some rain moving in this afternoon.
(01:27):
Fifty percent chance going up to seventy six. Right now,
we're gonna go up to ninety. Rather right now it's
seventy six and uptown and eure up to date on sunny.
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston. Well, some kind souls think of everything.
There's a Currville family that wanted to give back to
(01:48):
the devastated community and got other volunteers to join in
to wash clothes for first responders and others dealing with
the Fourth of July floods. Washed with Love and it
was started by Laura and Scott Williams. Scott's a veteran
and he told his wife Laura that when he was
in the military, he'd go weeks, even months without clean clothes.
(02:11):
So he cherished them, so Laura jumped all over it.
She went to Facebook for help. Fifty volunteers later and
they are cleaning clothes and changing lives, working around the
clock to wash clothes for free. This is what they do.
They pick up the laundry from the first responders after
their shift at the river in the evenings, they bring
(02:32):
them back, washed and folded to hotels by six am.
You can check out their Facebook and join in help
volunteer donate. Washed with Love Absolutely incredible producer Anthony Dane.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
This is really sweet. If you've been considering a new
furry family member. There's a pet adoption event happening this
weekend over at Houston Pets Alive in Northwest Houston. They're
calling it Puppy Palooza, and thanks to sponsorship support, adoption
fees are all going to be waived. Looking to feature
up to fifty puppies of various breed, sizes, and personalities
in search of their forever home. Forever homes. They're looking
(03:06):
to address the city's pet homelessness crisis by reducing overcrowding
and our local shelters and giving these at risk pets
a second chance. That's where we found Lily is at
an adoption event just like this. You can find Houston
Pets Alive over off Anton's Drive once again, it's Puppy
Faloza happening this Saturday from eleven am to three Absolutely incredible.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
And speaking of Pets Alive, there's another organization called Austin
Pets Alive. And you know what they did well. They
brought Rambo and Bow back home to their mama, safe
and sound. Cindy says a tree branch went through her
home during the Fourth of July storms, her two cats,
Rambo and Bo, got out volunteers searching high and low
(03:46):
over the weekend. Thanks to Austin Pets Alive, she was
reunited with her two kiddies and they said. Austin Pets
Alive says, it is an honor to offer such hope
to people devastated by these floods. You can help too, adopt, donate,
and volunteer. Go to this website airtable dot com to
get info and for our feel good stories. Each weekday
(04:09):
mornings set a preset on the new and improved iHeartRadio
app to Sonny Natty nine point one Monday, Natty nine
point one's best variety of the eighties, nineties, and today
I'm Dana with producer Anthony. It is now seven twenty two,
and we're talking about weather in Houston because our nearly
impossible question at six point forty, we learned ninety three
percent of us don't like this weather condition that's most
(04:30):
of us called humidity. Yep, I love it. It's great
for my skin. I can deal with it. Now, if
you've got skin conditions, maybe your skin tends to be
on the oily side. Yeah, that could be a real hassle.
I've got dry skin. I love humidity, but a lot
of us don't. And we're asking you about that's the typical,
the one weather condition we can always count on in Houston, humidity, right,
(04:53):
And we're asking you, Sergio, Sergio, what do you think
about humidity in Houston?
Speaker 3 (04:59):
I don't like?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yes, oh thank you. Tell me what your ideal weather
would be, like, your best weather location if you could.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Choose, so anywhere where there's like fifty percent humidity and
not you know, like ninety one hundred.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Okay, all right, so fifty I'm thinking you maybe vacation
someplace like that, or you used to live in a
place like that. Where would you be your ideal location.
If a job wasn't an issue, I would have to say,
like Colorado.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Oh okay, I'll never forget a summer in Colorado. That's beautiful, Colorado,
very nice. You get some winters though.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Lots of Houstonians do summer in Colorado. I've got a
lot of friends who do that. We can, we can
live vicariously through them. But we've got to work, right, Sergio, exactly,
I know, I know. Well, we thank you so much
for your input. And yeah, today's going to be another hot,
humid day, so we'll just have to get over it.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Thank you so much, Dan, I thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Anthony, all right, love you, take care, Appreciate you. Mandy
