Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony, and
we've got the three things you need to know to
get your Thursday, September fourth started well. Tomorrow, Friday, September fifth,
we are being told not to be alarmed. But tomorrow morning,
some two point three million of us are going to
get an emergency alert from the Wireless Emergency Alert system

(00:22):
here in Houston. It's going to happen at eleven tomorrow morning.
It's going to sound like an Amber alert. But we'll
say this is a public service alert, and this is
a test, and you heard it here on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
No need to be alarmed. It's just a test.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Okay. What is going on at James Harden's thirteen restaurant
in Midtown? Nothing apparently, and the doors are locked. There's
a note on the door says the restaurant owes two
million dollars in rent and other expenses. No word from
the James Harden camp. And no one won that one
point three billion dollar power ball. It's now up to

(00:58):
one point seven billion. However, one lucky.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Houstonian along North Caesar Chavez Boulevard at the Bari store there.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Won two million dollars. I'd keep it a secret.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Oh well, of course, don't you tell. Don't tell anyone
in your family. You just sock that money away and
you know, spend it as you please. Don't need to know, right,
That's what I'm saying. Congratulations and your weather today it's
going to be partly Sonny. I would love that you
just have two million dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Just a cool two mil. I'd get it way up
in my closet, like in some shoes.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
You know that, no one so messy, No one would
ever go in there and just pull out a couple
of hundred here and there.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Wouldn't it be fun just when you need it, yeah,
exactly or want it. Weather today is going to be hot.
We're going to be partly sunny, going up to ninety five.
We've got a heat index today. I know it's gonna
feel like one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Right now. It's seventy seven in Uptown and you're up
to date. I'm sunny. Tell me something good. Brought to
us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
We're also happy to have Carlos Korea back with the Astros.
His performance on the field epic, but what he did
off the field even more so. Kate Dilers is from Cyprus.
He is an eleven year old battling Leukenya. He's been
in and out of the hospital, but his love for
baseball keeps him going. How often do we hear that
baseball is like something so special to our hearts. He

(02:20):
loves Carlos Korea and he got the surprise of a lifetime.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
He got to meet Carlos.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Thanks to the Korea Family Foundation and Texas Children's Hospital,
Caid and his family were treated like VIPs at a
recent game. They got a suite watch batting practice on
the field.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Kate said Carlos was a really cool guy. He got
his autograph on his ball. Cad is doing great.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
He's back in school sports guitar, but he says he
will never forget his night at the Astros with Carlos.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
For Love That Producer Anthony Dean, This is exciting.

the fair to try At sanduis Chi. They're known for
their trademark egg salad sando and soft milk bread. They
have several fruit filled sand dos and a range of
hot ones like the classic chicken Katsu with ton katsu sauce.
That sounds amazing and making us a little more new unique.

That would be a great class to take.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And fifty percent of parents we learned in our Nearly
Impossible Question would like to have video games as a
subject in school, and I think the kids would totally
agree with that. And we're talking about parents bonding with
your kids over video games. We've got Bertha calling in
from Pearland. Now do you bond with your kids over
video games?

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Birthday?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
It so happens.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
We go old school, we go way back to Miss
pac Man.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Oh, the Miss pac Many So okay, tell us about
your kids.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
How many kids you have?

Speaker 5 (05:25):
I have three? I have a ten year old boy,
a nine year old girl and a six year old boy.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Wow, So how does it go? How does gaming night
go at your house?

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Oh? We go from either playing four games and then
we go to what they call electronics, So we go
to play Miss pac Man. And then they also play
a Fortnite with their dad.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Ah, that must be so fun, all right? Who's the
best in the whole family?

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Mom?

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Dad or one of the kids?

Speaker 5 (05:58):
One of the kids?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Which one is it? Ye old?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah huh sounds amazing as a ten year old girl
or a boy?

Speaker 5 (06:07):
His name is Gabro he's the boy.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And tell us about him? What makes him so good?

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (06:12):
He stays ours playing. If he's aloud, he'll play all
day in those games?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Man?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Birth can you take any credit for maybe being his inspiration.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
Surely no, Dad, take the credit, all right.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
But now here's the thing. Are the kids doing any homework?

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Oh? Yes, they have the specific time where they play
Monday through Thursday. No electronics, no games, no anything.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
This schoolwork.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, fantastic. I love that.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Actually, Mom, it's so much more sweet when they get
to play after putting in the right work for school.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Right, yes, man, Yeah, they have to do work. School
comes first and then electronics.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
That's that's how you do it. Thank you for sharing. Yeah,
great job. So glad you listened to Sonny. How did
you find us?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (07:04):
I've been listening to y'all since I was maybe fifteen,
and I got my kids listening to I every morning day.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Best love you, Thanks for making our day.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
You have a wonderful day.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
He was, well, Bertha, let's head over to Pasadena and
speak with CJ. Now, you play video games with your sons.
Tell us how this goes down. Do you create like
tournament nights?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
What do you all do? Bill?

Speaker 6 (07:27):
It really depends. He likes to do co op games sometimes. Yeah,
but you know, kids are really into like Call of
Duty and stuff like that. So what we'll do is
we'll either play on the same team or we'll jump
into the same room and play opposite each other. It
just really depends, all right, c J.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Howl's your son. He is sixteen and what's his name?

Speaker 6 (07:51):
Jamie?

Speaker 2 (07:51):
All right? Be honest, do you let Jamie win? Or
are you just very competitive and you just have to win?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
CJ.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
I have never let anyone win a single thing in
my life.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
They got to learn sometimes you'll beat Jamie all the time.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
No, he's better than me.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
WHOA, Well, he's got to he's got to give dad
some credit, right, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
And you know what I told him that I said.
I said there was a point when you couldn't beat me.
Now there's a point when when I can't beat you,
I gotta try harder. So that's all there is to it.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
That is so funny. And what's your wife doing when
you guys are gaming?

Speaker 5 (08:27):
You know what?

Speaker 6 (08:27):
Sometimes she's she's sitting there watching, and sometimes she'll go
in and cheer him on. Whenever he's over here, She'll
she'll go into his room and cheer him on. And
she'll come in here and cheer me on. And sometimes
she doesn't want to have anything to do with it.
She'll go in the living room and watch TV on.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Her That is so funny. I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
