Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, hello Southeast Texas, so glad to have you join
us on this wonderful Saturday. We have some exciting things
happening on the show.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Today. We have with us Nate.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Jennings with Bill Clark Bugspurts, and he's going to talk
a little bit about pess both the small and the
bigger pests, so going to talk to us about how
we can avoid them and what you need to know.
Also with this Brian Spring with Frogwash, is you're outside
getting a little dingy, do you need a little bit
of a freshening. He's going to talk about everything that

(00:31):
he does to make that exterior shine and sparkle once again.
And he brought his lovely bride with him today, Jerry Spring.
You know they are a family of entrepreneurs because Jerry
also has spring Print, so we are excited for her
to share a little bit about her business and what
they do. So also, we have an amazing open house

(00:56):
going on today. If you are out and about in
Bone and you want to drive by Fairfield Edition, which
Fairfield is right off of Major Drive. We have four
brand new construction homes there on Lily Lane that you
can tour. If you're over on the Dallan road side.

(01:17):
Did you know that Barrington Heights now has a road
that connects it all the way to Fairfield that can
get you to Major Drive. You can do that, So
head on over to Lily and take a look. On
the phone with us right now is Jessica Welborn. And Jessica,
tell me a little bit about the house that you
have opened this morning.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Well, hey, thanks for checking in. I am at three
five four seven Lily and it is a four bedroom,
three bath house over right at thirty one hundred square feet.
It's a Trademark house and it is beautiful. It is
open floor plan. My faceavorite thing is a double island. Yes,

(02:02):
I've been seeing them around a little bit. I hadn't
really been in a house with one very much. I
haven't not real familiar, but I love it. I've just
been looking at this thinking about how wonderful it would
work at all of those holidays, and it's just great.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Well.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
One of the things that I think people don't realize
is many of the builders that we have, including Trademark homes,
their spec homes are not spec homes. They are incredibly
customized with gorgeous finishes and they're all just a little
bit different so that it's not like having someone who

(02:39):
goes to a production builder with all the spec homes
where they only have a few choices. These are incredible
properties with beautiful finishes.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
They really are.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
This one has those insept cabinets inlaid cabinets where the
door fits into the cabinet. It's so sleek and it's
just kind of a little more and it is it's
just stunning.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
It is. Well, i'd love for everyone to head out
there and say hi to Jessica, take a look at
what she's talking about, and view these homes on Lily Lane,
which is in the Fairfield edition. Well, Jessica, thank you
so much for joining us and sharing a little bit
with us about.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Lily Absolutely love to see y'all.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Okay, so if you're out and about please dot buy.
We would love Jessica would love to say hello and
give you a tour of that property. And we have
three others, so it's not just one house you can
take a look at. You can take a look at
four of the new construction homes that are going up
right now. Well, when we come back, we are going
to visit just a little bit about bugs. Nate Jennings

(03:48):
going to share with us some things that we can
do to ensure that we don't have them. So don't
go away. This is Dana Simmons with the Dana Simmons Show.
Welcome back. This is Dana Simmons and we are having
a great show today. I have with me Nate Jennings.
He is the sales manager for Bill Clark Bug Spurts,
and we've been talking about lots of different things when

(04:10):
it comes to pests, whether it be the little or
the bigger pests. And so, Nate, one of the things
that you and I were talking about earlier is it
is that time of year when we begin to see
swarms of termites. I know it's always somewhere around Mother's Day.
That's how I usually know, is about that time. So,

(04:30):
and then I mentioned to you that some people were
already seeing some termites, and you gave me a great
explanation of what that is. So share with us a
little bit of information about what we're seeing.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Sure, So, first off, termites have been around for over
one hundred million years and they play a pretty vital
role in breaking down all the dead wood in the ecosystems.
So they're a good thing. We just don't want them
to eat up our structures. So in Southeast Texas, there
are actually two common types of termites. You have types
that start swarming in the springtime. Those are the native

(05:05):
Eastern subterranean termites, and they swarm mid day. Those are
the ones that you're talking about that people have already
been seeing. And then you have the formosan termites that
swarm around Mother's Day. That's when they start. A lot
of people call them the Mother's Day swarmers, and they
swarm at night. So the ones that start in the
springtime swarm right around midday. And then the ones that

(05:27):
swarm at night that start around Mother's Day into June
swarm at night, and they happen to be attracted to lights.
And that's why a lot of people see and tend
to worry more about the formos and swarmers is because
they surround houses because what's lit up at night.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
So let's talk a little bit about how we avoid
either one. So let's start with the first ones, the
ones that swarm in the spring. Tell me again what
those are called.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Those are Eastern subterranean termites. If you want to get fancy.
You can call them reticular terms flavipes.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Okay, I'll go with subterranean termites. That's where we'll go.
So what are the ways that we avoid those?

Speaker 4 (06:02):
So as far as avoiding the swarmers, it's very hard
to avoid those swarmers because they swarm during the day,
and swarmers from either colony or just reproductives from a colony.
You have different parts to a colony, and those are
the ones that produce new kings and new queens for
future colonies. So they can't actually fly into a structure
and feed on your structure. But when you see them,

(06:24):
that means underneath the ground you have a colony that
produces the workers that actually do the damage. And that's
what you need to protect yourself against.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
And is that the kind that occasionally you'll see a
tube on the slab that's it looks like dirt. Is
that that type of termite or is that the other?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yes, well it's the same type of termite, just a
different function for the colonies. So those are the workers.
They have to create these mud shelter tubes everywhere they
go for protection because they have to have a certain environment,
whether it be a certain temperature, no windflow, no light,
and that those mud tubes that you see is what
protects them from the environment.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
And so as an agent, when I have a buyer
who's looking to buy a house, one of the things
that we always recommend is that they get a WDI
report and so that is one of the things that
they look at.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Oh, yeah, for sure. These wood destroying insect reports are
really important in determining if you have active or even
past termite or any other would destroy insect damage on
the house. And it's vital that a new homeowner knows
that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
So we've talked about the subterraneum, let's talk about the foremotion.
You said they are the ones that come around Mother's Day, right.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Yes, exactly. And fun fact on that mister Clark from
Bill Clark Pets Control was actually the first one to
identify them as a different type of termite here in
Southeast Texas way back in the sixties.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Well, that is interesting, and so I know there are
some things that you can do when we get closer
to Mother's Day or when you see those swarming. What
are some of those things that are important to take
care of.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
So one of the most important things is turning off
your lights, because they are attracted to lights, and they're
always going to swarm at night. A lot of times
it's after a day that you had rain. Once that
night comes and it's real dry and humid. Not dry
that doesn't make sense, but when it's real humid outside,
they're going to swarm that night. You can almost guarantee it.
Turning off your lights makes it to where they're not

(08:21):
going to naturally be attracted to those areas and which
in case they get in window cracks and crevices and
through eves and then you end up with hundreds of
them in your house.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yes, I've we had a rental property that had them
come into the primary bathroom. It was upstairs and it's
like they were coming in through the window and the
tenant was from out of the country and they were
like what in the world.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, it's emotionally disturbing when you have hundreds of them
all at once from nowhere, and all of a sudden
you look around and they're everywhere inside. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
So when you are a homeowner, what are some things
that we need to do to ensure that we aren't
going to have these termites eating up the wood in
our house.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Sure, So the best thing that you can do is
get a preventative treatment before you have actual termites on
the home, and that could consist of a liquid treatment,
chemical barrier in which the soil is treated and that
prevents termite from entering the structure from that barrier around
the exterior, or using the bait system, which is a
system that doesn't necessarily tract termites, but it's attracting to

(09:25):
termites as a food source and both ways tend to
destroy the colonies around the structure. The next thing that
you could do prevention wise is getting rid of conducive
conditions that can harbor termites around your home, Like you
want to reduce wood to soil contact around buildings, address
any moisture issues because moisture tends to attract termites, and

(09:47):
just regularly inspect for signs of termites by a professional
company as well.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, and you guys do that. So if you get
that treatment that comes with you, guys also come and inspect.
I mean that part of what you guys do.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Yeah, that's one of the that's almost as important as
the treatment itself. The treatment itself, you're putting that initial
barrier around the house. But if you stay on that
continued maintenance program, you're not just getting somebody out there
and looking for termites. You're getting a professional that has
years of experience, put a pair of eyes on it,
let you know of anything that's changed, check on any

(10:22):
conducive conditions that need to be fixed, as well as
retreat at no charge if you have any extra or
if you have any active termites on the home that
are found.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
And termites can do so much damage. Until I started
in real estate, I did not realize how far up
they can go, and then they eat all the way
through to the sheet rock and you see little pet
I've seen homes where I'm telling you, an entire wall
would need to be completely replaced because those termites had

(10:52):
eaten all the way up that wall. They can even
go as far as the rafters.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Definitely. Every year in the United States, statistic right now
is they do about six billion dollars in damage to
homes and structures throughout all of the United States. And
you figure before there was actual modern pest control services,
that number was probably doubled what it would be now
with all the homes and structures that are currently already protected.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
So if someone's like, Okay, I need to get you
guys to take a look at it, what would they
need to do to get the ball rolling With Bill.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Clark, all you have to do is call our office
or go to our website. Either way, our website has
a quick easy link. You can type in your info
and somebody will contact you as soon as you put
that in the process goes to where you'll have a
certified inspector go out there to the structure, do an
inspection inside and outside, let you know of their findings,
and come up with a plan that is exclusively for

(11:50):
that structure's needs. And once that plan is implemented, a
technician will go out there do the initial treatment and
every year, like clockwork, we will get a whole libby.
You don't have to get a hold of us and
do that yearly inspection and maintenance monitoring program.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
And one of the things about your company, Bill Clark,
or the company that you work with, is they've been
in business over sixty five years, a long time. And
you don't just work on residential. You guys also do
commercial industrial as well.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Right, anything in Southeast Texas that's on the ground or
even over water we can treat. We treated barges and
boats and helicopters before as well, So yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
I wouldn't have even thought about that. Well, some other
things that you guys do, I know from personal experience,
is that you also work with other pests. For example,
it's that time of year where things begin to mate
and they try to find a place to have their babies.

(12:50):
And those are some of the things that we have
to look out for. And like at my mother's house,
she had skunks that burrowed underneath her house and my
dad was trying everything he knew to get them out,
all the old wives tells, loft balls, all the things.
Finally I talked him into having you guys come out,

(13:11):
and you guys had to trap them. So those are
some of the things that you do as well.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Sure, we specialize in wildlife nuisance, wildlife control, and one
of the things that we do with the wildlife is
we release them safely into their natural habitat. We don't
destroy them or anything like that. So everything that we
do when it comes to raccoons, possum, skunks, even bat
removal is all safe and it allows the wildlife to

(13:35):
continue living and continue flourishing in the environment without damage
to them. We just get him out of our structures.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yeah, that's a wonderful thing that you guys do that. Well,
we have a caller on the line, Tim, you have
a question.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
Yes, ma'am, I had remodeled my home after Harvey and
had to get an SBA loan, and I was just
curious to the bend several years would I be able
to at that home out with the SBA loan to
get another loan you purchase another house.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
You know that is a question that you're going to
want to ask to a mortgage lender. But you know
what I can do, Tim, I can absolutely get that
information for you and get back to you and find
out exactly what you can or can't do. If you
can leave your telephone number with Jim Love when I
finish with this radio program, I have a couple of

(14:27):
different people I can reach out to to let you
know what you can do. I'm not common with if
an SBA loan will allow you to use that as
a rental or not. I've not ever had that. I
love that question because I love learning something new every day,
and this is learning something new today. So I appreciate
you bringing that up, and I am going to find

(14:48):
the answer for you, and then I'll come back on
the show and let everyone else know what the answer is.
So yes, let me see what I can find out.
Reach out to a couple of my lenders who deal
with SBA and find out if you're able to rent
that property and then have another mortgage on another property. Yeah,
I'm happy to get that for you. Anything else that

(15:11):
you have for.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Us, Tim no Man, thank you having bleadsday.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah you as well. Thank you for calling in. If
you have any questions for our guests today, you have
any pest questions that you are dying to know about,
would you please call eight nine six five five eight
four and I'm sure Nate Jennings would love to connect
with you and give you information that Bill Clark can
do what they can do to help you well. Coming

(15:36):
up in our next segment, we're going to be talking
to Brian Spring. If you're looking to freshen up the
exterior of your house. We're going to visit with him
about all that Frogwash offers. So don't go away. This
is the Dana Simmons Show.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Welcome back.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
This is Dana Simmons and I was just visiting with
Nate Jennings, the sales manager at Bill Clark Bugspurts, and
we were talking about all things pests, little, small, bigger,
any kind you can think of. They can help you
control those. So if you have questions about that, give
Bill Clark Bugspurts a call. They've been in business sixty
five years, over sixty five years, and they are amazing

(16:14):
people who are very active in our community, and I
highly recommend that you reach out to them. This week,
we are having an open house over on Lily which
is in the Fairfield edition. So if you're out and
about and want to go look at four brand new homes,
I suggest you head on over. Fairfield is off of

(16:36):
Major Drive, or you can come through the Barrington Heights
neighborhood and get into the Fairfield neighborhood that way. And
Morgan is over at thirty five eighty Lily Lane. Morgan.
How's it going today?

Speaker 5 (16:52):
Oh, it's great. I can't complain. The weather is great.
We've had a couple of people drive by and you know,
we've had you know a couple of people ask them question.
So we're doing great over here.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Great?

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Well, tell me a little bit about the property at
thirty five eighty Lily.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
All right, So at this house, we have a it's
four bedrooms, three and a half bathroom, car garage. Like
you said, it is in a fair Field edition. So
we are really close to you know, ATV. You can
practically buy the ATV. We're really close. It's so great
and I love that about it. And then one of

(17:28):
the things I love most about this home is that
once you walk in, there's this great space. I mean,
I would definitely love to have my office in here.
It is light and airy. I mean you could make
it also like a gym. It's a great space. And
then all the storage space in this house. I mean,

(17:48):
if you are like me and you have a lot
of seasonal decorations, this is the home for you.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, and kids, because listen, Morgan, you need all that
space for storage too. With those babies, they take up
a lot of space absolutely, well, not just the babies,
the baby's stuff takes up all the space. Well, it
doesn't my house. I probably have too much though, that's
probably my problem.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Yeah, same here, same here. I'm sure I could cut back.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Well. The finishes in that house too, are beautiful. Are
there any of the finishes that are your favorite?

Speaker 5 (18:23):
Oh, now that you mentioned it, Yes, the master bathroom
you know as you're walking in there. I love the
coloring that they have picked out. They have a lot
of gold finishes that's in the master bath as well
as a wonderful soaking tub and walking shower. But yes,
it's stunning.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
It is. It's so hard to explain to people how
incredible it really is because the custom finishes and just
they're on the cutting edge of everything that is currently
happening when it comes to design and finishes. I mean,
it's just absolutely beautiful what they are doing. So if
you you are out and about, please head on over

(19:02):
and see Morgan. There are four houses over there on
Lily Lane which is in the Fairfield Edition, and that
Fairfield Edition is right there off of Major Drive, and
they would love to let you take a look at
these gorgeous homes. So head on over there today. So
I'm going to head on over to Brian's spring and
talk to him about some things that if you buy

(19:24):
a new home. You may not need this immediately when
you buy a new house, but within a year or two.
Living in Southeast Texas, Brian we all get that grungy
stuff on the outside of our brick, on our sidewalks,
all of it, and so at frogwash.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
You have.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Worked on our properties for years, on our personal properties,
our rental properties, and always done an amazing job. But
there are a lot of things that you can do
with frogwash, So talk a little bit about that.

Speaker 7 (19:56):
We do the uh what a lot of people think.
We do the soft washed roof cleaning, which a lot
of people think that you can't clean the roof, It's
gonna tear up the roof, and that is not true.
We can do it. It's done. Like I say, with
the soft wash, we use an electric pump, so we're
not putting our pressure washer up there to knock off

(20:16):
the granules. Things like that. We use a chemical it's
called sodium hypical rite. It is a cleaning bleach which
kills all the mold, algae everything on your roof. When
we're done with your roof, it will look like a
brand new roof again, and it usually lasts between four
to five years. So we do that. We can clean
the house. It gets all the mold algae off there.

(20:40):
Things like that, we clean the concrete, whether it be
a driveway or parking lot. A lot of times you
get that slimy stuff on your parking lot or your
sidewalk and it can be very dangerous and slippery. So
we can definitely take care of that, clean it where
it looks like it's brand new again. Well.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
One of the things that when you talk about the
roof wash, we had purchased an older home out in Finet,
and we thought the roof was black, right yep, And
after you finished washing it, it was green. It was
a green shingle on that road. We had no idea
it was a green shingle on that road. And so

(21:20):
it is amazing what happens after you get it all
washed off. And so one of the things that we
have too at our house is those brick walkways and
I will tell you, I don't know how it happens,
but that green algae will just get on there, and
you're right, it is so slippery, It is so.

Speaker 7 (21:41):
And it can be dangerous. We have a lady in
Finet she was getting her mail on her sidewalk. She
slipped in broker elbow. We clean her driveway every year
now and it.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Just makes such a difference, you know, really, all the
things that we've been talking about today is just maintenance
on your home. I mean you need to have maintenance
by having your home inspected for pests. You don't want
to have termites or any other pass ruining your investment.
And the same thing with this, this is cleaning up

(22:14):
your home, which is your investment.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
It's a curb appeal, it's not. It just needs it.
You don't want to leave mold on there on some
of your exterior because it can't eat your paint off
and you don't want to do that. So definitely, I
wouldn't say every year, but at least every other year,
we can definitely get it cleaned up.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Well, I'll tell you at my house, I have to
have it every year.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
Yeah, it happened. Y'all are in the y'all's house is
in shaded, so that's where the algae loves to grow.
They don't like the sun. They like it where it's
nice and humid, and so yeah, I definitely can be
taken care of.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Those big trees are beautiful.

Speaker 7 (22:53):
But yes, exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
But they make me have to have my house wash.
Good for me, it is good for you or you.
You have a customer like my son in law who's
OCD exactly exactly right, and he's not having a piece
of dirt on anything him every year.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
And you do.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
He has you guys come out every single year. I
know we were talking before the show. You guys are
super busy right now.

Speaker 7 (23:19):
It's springtime cleaning. Yeah, everybody's out doing their their lawn
and their flower beds and they see that all the
grime and everything, and they say it's ready to get
it all cleaned up. And so we're very busy, which
we love it.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
But what you need to let people know too is
that you can't come out next week.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
Exit Well, I can come out and give you a bed,
but it's going to be a couple of weeks before
we can get to you. But you know, we we
try to. We try to work with everybody to get
him done as soon as we can.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I know you do, but I don't. I want to
set the expectation for people that if you're if your
party is on Tuesday, you might not be able to
get it done if you call today exactly.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
Like we had people calling the day before Easter and
they want to come out that day and get it
taken care of. And I love all the customers, but
sometimes give us a little time and.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Give you a heads up on that. I know exactly well,
So other than doing the powerwash on the roof, you
also powerwash the exterior. Anything else we need to know
about what you guys do that.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
Really, I mean we do commercial residential. We do a
lot of stuff for Lamar, We do stuff for the
City of Beaumont b ISD, so we are commercial. We
usually work on our weekends to do that when business
are closed and they've the parking lots aren't crazy, but yeah,
we do that. So yeah, I mean your business needs

(24:43):
to look good for people when they come in.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
And Brian, how long have you had frog Wash.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
We've been in business fifteen years.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Yeah, I know you've come to my house for a
long time, so I didn't know how long that had been.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
Yep, we've been here for a while and we've been
very blessed to be here. We love this area well.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
And one of the things I think that's really important.
You know, people think, oh, I can get my neighbor's
little son to come over and spray things, but there
are dangers and there are things that you don't realize
can happen when you're using a pressure washer that can
damage property. For instance, I had someone who was just

(25:24):
spraying down our little wooden toy set for my grands.

Speaker 7 (25:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
We now have wood that has a line all the
way through it because it all the way through that
when I'm like, I think that was too strong. And
I won't say that that was my husband that did
that at all. I won't tell you. He was just
trying to clean the little thing for my trying to
help out, trying to clean the little eye.

Speaker 7 (25:51):
Where you get the people where they do the screens
on their house and then they got looks like Zoro
came through.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
Yes, right, So that's why it's so important that you
get a professional. That's what I'm saying. Now, he doesn't
do our house. You do our house. But it's it
seems like it would be easy just to get a
pressure washer and do it yourself. But there are things
that you have to know that can damage your property
if you're not doing it correctly.

Speaker 7 (26:13):
Right chemicals. You got to have the right chemicals. You
gotta have the right pressure on most of the when
we do vinyl siding, when we do hardy, you have
to we do the soft washed on it also, we
don't most people use think, man, I got thirty five
hundred PSI, I can pressure was that's the worst thing
you can do.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (26:31):
So the only thing we use a lot of pressure
on is when we're doing your driveway things like that,
you do need a little bit more pressure. But when
you're doing a house around their windows things like that,
you don't want to use pressure. That's gonna make it.
Like you said, you can damage it that way.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Yeah, So I think that's important because it seems like, well,
it's just water, you're just spraying it off. But I
didn't realize how much damage it could do until our
little wooden swing set has like a little line on it,
and so then I'm like, wow, that is strong. I
didn't realize how strong that was.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Yeah, and we got the you know, we've were fully
insured as far as workman's comp the general liability. Luckily
we hadn't had to use it, but we do have
it in case.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
We do need it, which that is so critically important
because while you don't plan on anything ever happening, it's
very important that you are able to provide if it
does right exactly. And so thank you for mentioning that
as well. So I love that both of you, both
Bill Clark and Frogwash. You guys do both residential and commercial.

(27:32):
I mean you both are active in our community, very
much a part of what's going on, and so appreciate
you sharing that with us here today. Well, when we
come back, we're going to talk to Jerry Spring, who
just happens to be Brian's better half. So we're going
to visit with her a little bit about spring Print
and what she offers. So don't go away. This is

(27:52):
the Dana Simmons Show. Welcome back. This is Dana Simmons.
We are having a great time on the radio show today.
We've been visiting with Nate Jennings, with Bill Clark, Bugspurts,
also Brian's Spring with Frogwash, and we're gonna let them
wrap up here a little bit and give you another
little bit of information before we finish the show today.

(28:12):
But wanted to remind you that we are having an
open house over on Lily Lane. We have four brand
new construction homes that are in the process of being
completed over in the Fairfield edition. Now you say, Dana,
where's Fairfield, Well, it is off of Major Drive right
there by King's Pharmacy. But you can also get to

(28:33):
Fairfield through the Barrington Heights neighborhood as well, So if
you're over on Dallen, you can come through Barrington Heights
and get over to Lily. We have four of those
houses open and they are all at least four bedrooms.
A couple of them have two car garages and one
has a three car garage. So head on over and
see Morgan and Jessica and Jake and Lessanne. They'd love

(28:57):
to let you tour those homes and see the gorgeous
finishes that Trademark Holmes has done in these homes. They
are not just spec homes, they are like custom homes
and you don't want to miss it. Go check them out.
Also with me today we have Jerry's Spring and Jerry
is with spring Print. Now, Jerry, tell everyone a little

(29:17):
bit about what is spring print. And you've been around
a little while with spring Print, haven't you. It's been
in business a little while.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Yes, we've been in business for about fourteen years and
we basically do all things prints. So we do traditional printing,
you know, business cards, letterhead envelopes, things like that, but
then we also do vehicle wraps and we offer decaling
for commercial vehicles. We do apparel, so we could do
anything from embroidery to screen printing. And then what's a

(29:47):
new product that's come out is called direct to film,
so we do that as well.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
So tell me what is direct to film? What is
that that's new?

Speaker 2 (29:54):
We can do apparel with that, so it's we print
directly on film and then we apply it to different
substrates like shirts or hats or even like tablecloths and
things like that.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Yeah, and so you guys are located in Lumberton, but
you work with people all over, aren't you. Are you
located in Lumberton?

Speaker 4 (30:13):
We are.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
We're run by a Chicken Express in Lumberton.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Oh, I love Chicken Express. That would be tempting to me.
That oak cry is delicious, yes, and the sweet tea,
both of them all together is so good. Well, so
have you been in the same location the entire time
we have?

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Yeah, I've actually had been in business in Hardin County
since two thousand and three, and we at one time
had a little print shop called Copies Graphics and More.
But we started spring Print fourteen years ago.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
And so I love that the two of you each
have your own, you know, business that you're an entrepreneur in,
and your children are a part of that too, aren't they.
So it's kind of like a family affair.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
It is. It is. My son works for me and
he does all our vehicle wraps. His name is Zach,
and he just does a wonderful job.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
It's so much fun. You know. My daughter works with
me as well, and I have my sister and my
niece and all of that. And people are like, how
is it working with family? But I'll tell you it,
We loved it. I Mean there are challenges occasionally, let
me just say, and I'm sure I see you shaking
your head, Brian, because you know, it's sometimes you have

(31:21):
to take off that mom hat and put on the
business owner hat, and that's a hard that's hard sometimes.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah, I think I think the thing that's hardest is
to be able to do a vacation together because, yeah,
we can't all be gone at the same time. So
that's the hard part. Yeah, Zach is very enjoyable to
work with.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah, and for me that we have the same issue.
We used to take the whole extended family, which meant
my sisters and their family and we would all try
to go, but it was my brother in law worked
with me then and my sister in law, and so
it was like, it is hard to take off because
when you are self employed and you own the business
and you're the business, you've got to be there to

(32:03):
run the business. You can't just shut it down for
a week and say, see you guys, exactly, we're closed
for a week. I've seen people do that. I couldn't.
It's not a part of what we could do. So
what made you want to do spring print? How did
you get into that?

Speaker 2 (32:18):
We've just I've worked in the printing industry since I'll
really date myself since nineteen eighty three. Wow, So I
had always worked for other people and I just wanted
to try it myself.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
And so now do you have a son who works
with frogwash as well? So you have two sons and
now they've split ones with mom and ones with that.

Speaker 7 (32:39):
Exactly, we had to start business to have a job.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
And then you guys were telling me that you also
have two grandsons. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (32:50):
We do?

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Yeah, so boys are very much in your family yep. Yeah,
So we've got to get you a little girl in there.
Somewhere out number. Jerry, No, we got to get some
estrogen going over there, So I guess we need to
talk to these boys about let's get moving boys. They
need some more babies in this family. Well, thank you

(33:11):
so much for the two of you being on the show.
I thought it was fun to be able to have
you both because you both have businesses. Now, Jerry, if
someone has questions about what you do, how you do it,
I know you have a website, so can you tell
them about the website and then how they could get
in contact with you.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Sure, they can go to spring print dot com or
we're also on Facebook under spring Print and you can
call our office at four oh nine seven five ones
youre was zero eight three, or you can email us
at orders at springprint dot com, or.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
You have the office in Lumberton, they can pop in.
Yes anytime, okay, and what is your office?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
We're open Monday through Friday from eight to five.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Great. Well, so glad to have you with us on
the show. Now, Brian, we talked about the fact that
you're kind of booked out a little bit. But if
someone is interested in trying to get you out there
to first you give a bid correct, and so talk
a little bit about what that process looks like and
about what the timing is on that.

Speaker 7 (34:04):
Well, the just call our call office. My secretary will
get your information. I will go out there, take a
look and see what you really needed all done, and
then I'll give you a price. And then my secretary
will call you because she's the one that I got
a couple of guys who work, so she'll get it
all scheduled and we try to work with the customer's

(34:26):
schedule and work it out that way.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Yeah, so they can call what number.

Speaker 7 (34:32):
Our number is four zero nine five four nine two
zero zero.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
And you also have a website.

Speaker 7 (34:38):
Correct, frogwash dot net.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
And you know, I was I was talking to Jerry
about how she started with the printing company. What made
you start frog Wash? Uh, I.

Speaker 7 (34:53):
Worked, we worked together, and then we just figured we
needed to.

Speaker 8 (34:57):
Have diversity, diversity, and so anyway, I just I thought
I was going to start at it as kind of
dabble into it, but then after I started, I thought
that I could see her very.

Speaker 7 (35:11):
Good career in it. And yeah, so that's why I
just went ahead, went all four in it, just going
after it.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
And word of mouth is huge great. I know that's
how you have grown your business is just word of mouth,
people telling other people because they've had a great experience
with you.

Speaker 7 (35:28):
That definitely helps out. So uh yeah, word of mouth.
We've got she wraps our vehicles, so we're rolling advertisement.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
That helps out absolutely. That's another good thing.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Well.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I also wanted to thank you Nate for being on
the show today. And if someone has questions about getting
in contact with you guys, if they see these swarms
or if they they're just like, you know, I haven't
been protecting my investment from pess. How do how do
you guys work that at Bill Clark.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Well, all you have to do is call us at
A four O nine eight nine eight three two two four,
or you can go to our website at Bill clarkbugspurts
dot com. Ask any question that you have and if
the person answering the phone doesn't have the answer, somebody
there does. That's kind of our thing. You got passed.
We got the answers.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Well, and one of the things that when I was
when we were talking just a little while ago, when
we were talking to Brian about needing someone professional to
do the work because there are challenges and issues. One
of the things that we were talking about in the
break is that even with termite treatment, you know, sometimes
you think that, oh, I can just spray around my

(36:41):
house and it's going to be okay. But you were
saying with a specific type of termite, there's a lot
more that you have to do other than just treating
around the house. Sometimes you have to look in the
wall correct sure.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
With for most and termites, those are the ones that
start swarming around Mother's Day that we were talking about
this warm at night. They can build above ground nesting
areas inside of walvoids that actually harbor a queen. So
without taking down that waalvoid that you know they're in,
if you just do an exterior ground treatment and you
have a suspended above ground colony, well you're still going

(37:16):
to have an issue. So it's very beneficial and really
highly recommended that the client take down that waalvoid where
they're poking through the interior of that wall until they're
not seeing any more damage to ensure that that carton
nests and that queen is out of the wall completely.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
And one of the things that I love about Bill
Clark is you have on staff and entomologists.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yes, we do. We have a PhD entomologist that went
to Texas A and M University. Whoop braw the aggies
out there, and we're very blessed. We're the only company
in Southeast Texas that has a PhD entomologist on staff.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
And let's talk about why is that so important?

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Well, just for knowledge sake.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
You know, he had to go to school. You know,
he basically went to bug school, learned about bugs for
over eight years and with that knowledge, he's actually his
name is Bart Foster, doctor Bart Foster, and he is
our technical training director. So anybody that hires in Bart,
doctor Bart is the one that trains them and ensures

(38:20):
that the quality of service that our clients deserve they
get that training from him.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
He's also really good if something comes up and people
are like, what is this? I know that they've taken
things to him for him to take a peek at
and look into.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Yeah, bring it up to the office. Doctor Bart can
look at it and get it identified for you.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
He also has done lots of training when it comes
to educational things for kids as well.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
Right, yes, ma'am, both of us have gone out to
the Children's Museum multiple times a year and talk about
bugs all throughout the community as well.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
That's one of the things that I love about all
of view. Jerry. I think you're very active in the
Lumberton Chamber at Yeah, on the board there, and so
you know when we when we talk about people here
on the show and having people on the show, I
love when it's people who are active in their community,
who want to see their community grow and get better,

(39:20):
and who are volunteers. We don't get paid to do that,
that's right. Yeah, So your your goal is to improve
our area and to constantly be growing. I'm on the
board of the Beaumont Chamber, so you know, our mindset is,
especially when you're entrepreneurs, is how can we make our
city our area better? And having local I think is

(39:42):
one way that we do that. While it's great to
have some of these big companies with these big names,
I get that they're not invested locally the way we're
invested locally.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Absolutely the community.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yes, we are, and it's where our kids are, it's
where our grandkids are, and you know, we're raising another
generation in this community. So when I have like yesterday,
I had an out of town client who's relocating and
so one of the things that I did was instead
of driving her through the big name coffee shop, I

(40:18):
went to one of our local coffee shops just to
give her local flare. And we have some wonderful local
coffee shops and so Oz Cafe and Reyo's both are
amazing and the people who work there live here, they
volunteer here, they're a part of our community. And so

(40:39):
that's one of the things, Nate, that I see about
Bill Clark too. Almost at every event I go to,
someone from Bill Clark is there.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Certainly it's one of our ways to give back to
the community that's given us so much. And you know
you were talking about being on boards. We the owner
is on the Beaumont Chamber board as well. We have
remember on the BBB board. I'm on the Beaumont Chamber
Foundation board. We're involved in Rotary Club, which gives back
to the community. And there's just so many different things

(41:10):
in the United Way, And like I said, it's when
you're in a community, you have to be a part
of it. And if you want to be a part
of its growth and just it's betterment, you have to
do more than just offer the service that you're offering.
You have to actually get in there, get your hands dirty,
and help it grow and help it be better.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
And one of the things that I love too is
that any of you, I mean, if we needed anything
on a weekend, I can shout.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
At you for sure.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Absolutely you're not closed, you know. I mean, while your
business may be closed, you're.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Not exactly right.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
And as entrepreneurs and as business owners here locally, we
can connect with each other ask questions. It's for instance,
you know that caller Tim who was asking about the
USDA loan. The minute I finish here, I'm calling my
contact up First Financial Bank. I have their cell phone number. Well,
I have several of them. I can reach out to

(42:05):
several of them. That's what I love about First Financial Bank.
They're local, They're a part of our community. They're a
part of what we all are invested in here, and
I have their cell numbers. I'm going to make a
phone call over there and say, Okay, I had a
question on the radio show. I don't know the answer.
To educate me. Can you have an SBA loan and

(42:25):
use it as a rental. That's a great question. I
have never been asked that, and I've never come across that.
So I know we've had on residential properties SBA loans
that get paid off when they sell, But I don't
know if there's a requirement that they have to own
or occupy that home or not. So but I have
the access to someone immediately today and that's part of

(42:47):
being a part of the community and that's.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
What I love.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
Also Capital Title it's the same thing at Capital Title Company.
They are local owned locally and so love that. Well,
you guys, it has been such a pleasure to have
all of you on the show today. One more quick
shout out on how people can get in touch with you, Nate.
Tell people how they can get in touch with Bill Clark.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
You can call four O nine eight nine eight three
two two four or you can go to Bill Clarkbuckspurts

Speaker 1 (43:21):
And Brian Spring with Frogwash. How do people get in
touch with Frogwash four.

Speaker 7 (43:25):

Speaker 2 (43:34):

Speaker 1 (43:41):
And if you missed any of that and you need
to get the information, you can always call my office.

four O nine eight six six eight three two six,
or go to Dana Simmons real estate dot com and
we can get you the information. It's such a pleasure
to have you joining us today. I hope that you

(44:03):
were able to get out to our open houses over
on Lily Lane. They're going to be there for another
twenty or thirty minutes, so head on over to Lily Lane,
which is in the fair Field edition. That's right off
of Major Drive. Have a wonderful Saturday.
