Speaker 1 (00:01):
Remember whether it was impossible to misplace the TV remote
because you were the TV remote. Remember when music sounded
like this? Remember when social media was truly social?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Hey John, how's it going today?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Well?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
This show is all about you.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
This is fifty plus with Doug Pike. Helpful information on
your finances, good health, and what to do for fun.
Fifty plus brought to you by the UT Health Houston
Institute on Aging, Informed decisions for a healthier, happier life.
And now fifty plus with Doug Pike.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Start a new week, get a little done, talk about
the news, talk about the weather, the markets, all that stuff.
A little warmer weather, finally, huh. Two full days of
just ridiculous. And then this morning actually was the first
time I had to scrape ice off my windshield, and
because I'm a nice guy, I scraped about most of

(01:09):
it off my son's windshield while he was still upstairs
getting dressed a.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Little.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
It'll finally be above freezing anyway for a little while,
and by that I mean it's coming again. As we
got one day, well, the next couple of nights might
or might not hit that magic mark. At least tonight,
I don't think tomorrow night has a chance of freezing,

(01:37):
but it won't be anything like the past two nights.
There's another forecast for an overnight low of twenty six
on Saturday, but that's a long ways out just now.
And if it does go to sit twenty six, if
you got it right this time and everything's still okay,
I'm pretty sure, and I hope at least that it'll
be okay again. I win twenty six rolls around the

(01:59):
next time. When I woke up this morning, according to
my little in home eavesdropper, I asked what the temperature was,
and it was twenty three. I thought, oh boy, that
might be a hot mess. But I think it was
about that a couple of days ago. And I don't
know where that little eavesdropper of mine actually gets the information.

(02:20):
I don't know where that station is. I have a
hunch it's out in a less populated area that I'm in,
because it always seems to be just a little bit
cooler than when I get in my car. When I
got in my car and started driving down the street,
it showed twenty six. Twenty six doesn't scare me. Twenty
twenty one, twenty two that's starting to get my attention.

(02:42):
And then that horrific thing we had a few years
ago where it was in the teens a couple of
nights and then the twenties during the day, that, yeah,
that's turned off the water stuff. Hopefully all of you
made it through this one unscathed, going up to forty
eight today, which will feel pretty dog on good, I
would say, relative to the past seventy two hours. I didn't.

(03:05):
I typically don't dress to spend much time outdoors when
I'm coming to work, like I had to do this morning,
shaving those windshields, saving the ice off the windshields and whatnot.
And so now, granted I have stuff in the car,
and you should too this time of year, kind of
emergency stuff, a jacket, some gloves, a ski cap, something

(03:29):
to put on your head. And then also a blanket,
which most people wouldn't have in their car, especially if
my wife likes to keep her car empty. She doesn't
want anything in it but her If she's going to
the cleaners, the clothes go in there. They go to
the cleaners, they go inside, and until they're ready, no
more clothes in the car. I'm somewhat the opposite I

(03:53):
think if there were any reason that I and three
other car loads of people were stranded on the side
of the road in the wintertime, I could probably keep
everybody warm. That's that's what I'm thinking, all right. So
moving on from there, the markets were pretty mixed at
the open. Three of my fab four up, and only
the Dow was down, and not.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Horribly it was, but it was down.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Gold lost twenty dollars an ounce early, but I looked
a little while ago and it was back to a
green ten bucks and just I mean just a baby step.
I think it was at fifty five ninety dollars, almost
fifty one hundred dollars. I really I'm still scratching my
head on why that is, but we'll figure it out.

(04:40):
A reminder, by the way, as we sloshed toward the
news that in the wake of any storm, I don't
care what season it is, winter, summer, springfall, anything that
happens across a very broad area. It's almost like I'm
trying to think about when and how that happens or
why it happens. Online is the scammers just come out

(05:02):
of the woodwork, okay they and I'm seeing stories about it.
I'm I'm reading about it, I'm hearing about it, and
now you're hearing about it, and just don't forget. What
I'm about to tell you is that how these people
are really really good at convincing other people, especially they
pray on seniors.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
They're good at it.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
They know they can they can talk fast and tell
us we have to make a decision right now to
get the discount and all this stuff, and you end
up signing something before you check out that person's credentials,
before you verify their insurance policies or enforce and all
of the things that you would do if you if
you were working on your own time timeframe. Patience, just

(05:46):
be patient, don't get ripped off. If somebody tells you
you have to do something that day, then say well fine,
then I'm just not gonna do it. They're on the prow,
you got a broken down heater, you got busted pipes,
fallen treat I just talked to a new client five
minutes ago, well maybe five now you know, it was
about ten minutes ago. Told me that he was having

(06:06):
to go to a second location. He's putting together and
I'll be talking about them in the coming weeks. Second
location he's putting together because there are busted pipes up there.
This is way up Highway six. One of he kind
of jokes at almost everything he has is on Highway six.
He lives just off of Highway six. One of his

(06:26):
locations that you'll hear about soon is on the north
side on Highway six, and the other ones down in Sugarland,
very close to where I live, as a matter of fact,
very close.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I asked him.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I said, I know you got to get it, get
up there and get those pipes. Address how many pipes
are broken? He said, I don't even know yet. I
just know I have broken pipes, and that the worry
wart in me that would scare me to death. I'd
be And I think it flashes back all the way
to all the way to when I was living in
at my first home, the first home I bought in Katie,

(07:01):
little starter home. The people next door didn't really know
anything about cold weather and exposed pipes, and those little
houses we were in were put together hastily, I'm sure,
by the builder, and there was little or no attention
at all paid to the insulation in the attic and

(07:22):
the uncovered pipes in the attic. I knew enough to
have to get stuff covered up there and did so.
My next door neighbor didn't. And after one of the
I think it was the freeze of eighty nine, maybe
I think it was eighty nine, he had something like
eighteen or nineteen burst.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Pipes in his attic.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
The ceiling just looked like it was it was pregnant
and about to give birth to quintuplets all throughout his house.
And that just made me fearful of uncovered pipes. So
knock on wood. I hope when I get home it'll
be all right. And I think it will all right
on the way out here. Speaking of being all right,
good timing on the part of the Houston Auto Boative

(08:07):
Show not to have the event this weekend this past weekend,
but to have it next weekend. Still gonna get that
one little cold night, But that's nothing that people who
want to go look at all the greatest and latest
classic cars and new cars and trucks and five acres.
I think it is a boats something like that. All

(08:27):
of that out there at NRG Center. You can check
it out all day long if you want. There's all
kinds of activities inside and outside. There are even some
test rides you can take outside and all of those
things as long as you're willing to stand in line
for a minute, probably all those things are covered by
that one admission ticket for you, everything.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
From the open road to the open water.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
If it thrills you, you're gonna find fun for the
whole family right down there at the Houston Auto Boative Show.
That's next weekend, this coming weekend, So make your plans
now to get out there and take a look around online.
You can find out about ticket prices and everything there

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Aged to Perfection. This is fifty plus with Dougpike. Welcome
back to fifty plus. Thank you for listening, certainly to
appreciate it. On this it's a chili we'll call it
a chili Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
But it's not cold.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
And by definition in my definition book, my dictionary of words,
cold is reserved for temperatures of thirty two degrees and lower.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I've been by the way.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
I had an issue that I thought was something else
and ended up going to the doctor thinking I had
another sinus infection.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Oh boy, this is what this is?

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Huh And I had been reading about something else that
it might be, and I mentioned it in the doctor's
office and she said, well, you know, maybe that is it.
Tell me more about your symptoms, because she had already
looked in my nose and looked at my ears and
all that stuff, and said, I don't see anything here.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I really don't.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
But if you'll recall, for the second time in the
last two months, I had a really hoarse, really just
darned near lost voice, clear in my throat all the time, scratchy, itchy,
but it didn't feel like an infection, and so we
figured out what it was and what I've had to
give up. And I've only I haven't cheated on soft drinks.

(10:32):
I haven't cheated on caffeine at all. I haven't had
caffeine in its purest forms like in coffee and soft
drinks and whatnot.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I haven't had.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
I haven't had caffeinated coffee or any sort of a
soft drink. And I know there's some decaf ones that
I might kind of cheat over that way, but even
that is a problem because of the effervescence of those drinks.
But it's been probably two weeks now, it's kind of
become a habit. And so now I've got these little
packets of flavor just to put in water. No caffeine,

(11:08):
no bad stuff, no bad dies and all that. And
I'm really, I'm really making an effort to stay healthy
and live longer, and hopefully, if I don't know, if
I'll live long enough to see my son become a dad,
that'd be pretty cool. We got a late start at parenthood,
my wife and I did, and just it is what

(11:29):
it is, and so hopefully, hopefully something like that will happen.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
So here's a story.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
And I told Will right before we came back on
the air, I said, this is gonna creep you out
pretty badly and it probably will you as well. And
it's not Yeah, it's pretty it's pretty bad. So here's
the deal. I'm not going to back away from these
things either. It's almost too disgusting and despicable to share,

(11:58):
but that makes it all more necessary, I think, to
just let you know these kind of people are still
in the world. In New York, a NASA County detective
was arrested after he'd been conducting extended communications with a
man whom that detective believed was the father of a

(12:21):
ten year old girl actually though he was an FBI
agent looking like John Stoshell Stossel ready to jump out
of the bushes on some creep who's going after kids?
That detective throughout these conversations, and they just kept letting

(12:44):
him build the case against himself, I suppose for as
long as they needed to. He was trying to convince
the agent posing as that little girl's father to just
do despicable and unthinkable things to his own daughter while
the tech the detective planned to watch via a video call.

(13:06):
It's just that is just so messed up on so
many levels. He asked for inappropriate photos of the little girl,
and and well there's there's more too, and I won't
go into any more. That should be enough to give
you a picture of what's going on. And worse that,
this detective now he's been arrested and he's admitted he said, yeah,

(13:27):
I'm I'm attracted little girls. Talks about it as casually
as though he were hooked on fast cars or fishing
or loud music. He just, yeah, that's me. It's no,
You're disgusting, is what you are. Where where did somebody
go wrong? Where did you go wrong?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
I can't get on board for that opening a new
category of violence against ice in Minneapolis. By the way,
a left protester bit off this week I think it
was yesterday. It happened bit off a chunk of an
ice agent's finger. I'm not sure whether k t r

(14:10):
H covered this or not.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
This morning. I was busy trying to drive in and
watch the road.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
And I toggled over to Sports Talk seven ninety for
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
In any event, yes, this person, and there's no mention
in the story.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
By the way of the biter's name, or whether that
person was a man or a woman. It just left it,
just left it up for grabs. It's just totally anonymous,
this anonymous person. And I think if there's ever any
any real trouble, they'll they'll name that person and tell

(14:46):
them tell you they were a school teacher, or a pastor,
or a pastor's wife or something really really wholesome. But
this person decided it was okay and a good idea
to eight off someone's finger.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I uh, that's.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
That's not nearly on the level honestly of the detective
up in New York.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
That's not nearly a level of depravity.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I mean, in the moment, this person, I'm sure was
extremely angry about ice, and you got a right to
be angry, but you don't have to write. You don't
have the right to bite someone's finger off. Still, that's
that's not okay, and they can't quite figure that out.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Similarly, there were many arrest made back to Minneapolis. How
can we go away? And this will all kind of
get buttoned up in a little while too. This is
really creepy why and how all this.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Is going on?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
And I'm working on an interview probably early next week.
I don't think I can get to it this week,
but I'm working on an interview.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Very quickly.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
So what happened yesterday in Minneapolis is there was a big, old,
another big protest at the hotel in which Tom Holman's
staying and probably is still there. I would imagine he's
not scared of anything step in the right direction, But
there was a big protest there and you know, they
ended up arresting a bunch of people because it turned violent.

(16:23):
They just some of these protesters step over the lines.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
And I'll get to that.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
In a minute too. It's really an interesting thing if
you watch it all evolve, but the bottom line is.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
There.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
There are there's growing concern. I mean, how much time
do I have? Will I don't want to start this
and have to stop it quick? I think I can
do it in too. Now, I'll do part of it
in too. There is a lot of concern growing among
national security experts over how these ice protests are are
following just chapter by chapter and page by page some
very long standing guidelines published and adhere to by enemy

(17:02):
nations to the objective is to overthrow a country. Okay,
how do you do that if you don't have superior,
superior firepower. Well, you do it by what's being done
in our country right now. You go in there, you
create an issue that and the Biden administration has a

(17:23):
lot of fault for this issue, even being there by
letting millions of people, millions of in many cases not
all of them bad, certainly not. I'm not saying they're
all bad. What I'm saying is that there are enough
bad ones in there that we have to go root
them out and get them out of our country. And
so now these enter the billionaires who are paying these

(17:45):
protesters in some cases thirty forty fifty thousand dollars a
year to get bundled up and go stand in the
freezing cold. Or I guess if they protested in Miami,
that would be more comfortable. But they get paid, they
get housed, they get food, they get closed whatever they
need to stand out there and carry a sign and
make a racket. That's the distraction. That's the thing that

(18:10):
splits our country. We start fighting amongst each other, We
start fighting just to be fighting, and all of a sudden,
all of a sudden, while we're in the middle of
the street fighting each other, the other side moves in
and very quietly and patiently.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
And there's several groups actually.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Who are either at it alone or in it together,
all of whom, all of which want nothing more than
for our country to fail. And if we let all
this keep going, we let all this keep going, that's
kind of where we're headed.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
And I'm not trying to be doom and gloom.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
I still believe one hundred percent of that about ninety
five percent of the people in the world are pretty
good people. They just want to get along, they want
to be comfortable, they want to be happy, they want
their families to be happy, just like you and I do.
But the ones who will become paid protesters are the
ones who fuel the fire that inspite inspires the the

(19:13):
kind of lunatics out there who all you got to
do is tell them to go do something horrible because
it's okay, because it's a good thing to do, and
help they go. Speaking of good, good things, berry Hill
Sugarland dot com. Berry Hill is a restaurant that I've
been frequenting and literally for the better part of thirty

(19:35):
years now.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
My wife and I we like different things.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
She's pretty cutting and she's pretty cutting stone on what
she's going to order. I tend every now and then
to go kind of off the grid and try something else.
And so far, I don't think I've hit I can't
even say I've hit most of the menu, but I've
hit a lot of the menu, and I'm still amazed.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
At what they put out.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
There's two people who are the primary cooks in that kitchen,
and those two people each have been there more than
ten years. It's a berry Hill traditional tex mechs menu,
but with little little flares, little extras, little somethings that
lend itself to become berry Hill's own. You don't have

(20:19):
to go in there and try it. The fish taco's
on incredible. I'm a fan of the seafood in enchiladas.
I'm a fan. I did cheese enchiladas last week just
to kind of go back to my childhood, and between
that and the Mexican rice and the refried.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Beans, it's just old that's an old.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
School Mexican food plate and it was absolutely delicious. Absolutely,
they'll cater pretty much anywhere in town. They've got very
casual atmosphere in there. There's tables and booths on one side,
a sports bar on the other, outdoor dining that might
be a little bit better and tolerable tonight than it
would have been last night or the night before. If

(20:55):
you've never been there, go go check it out. I
really strongly encourage you to do that. It's on fifty
nine and inbound at the Sugar Creek Boulevard exit. If
you're familiar with sugar Land, you'll know where it is.
If not, find you, let GPS take you there and
then go inside and let everybody else know you've never
been there before and you're happy to be there. And
I'll bet you somebody on that on that sports bar

(21:17):
side will welcome me over to their table. Tell them
you're new, Tell them you want to learn about Sugarland
and Berry Hills. Somebody will wave you in Berryhillsugarland dot com.
That's the website, berryhillsugar Land dot com.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Now they sure don't make them like they used to.
That's why every few months we wash them, check his fluids,
and spring on a fresh coat of wax. This is
fifty plus with Doug Pike.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Come back. Thanks for listening.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
You know, I was gonna kind of go back into
the stuff I was talking about, but with that doomy,
gloomy music, Wilbur will it's just it's William. Is that
correct on your worth certificate?

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Okay, I was double checking.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
I know it's not Wilbur. I. I do know a
man named Albert, though, and that's kind of close to that.
And my name is just as old fashioned as Wilber
or Elmer or No. Young people, very few young people
unless they have an uncle or a dad pretty much
named Doug. They don't know how to spell it. And

(22:18):
I don't blame them. It's just it just is what
it is. If you're looking for a little good news,
let's do that. If your electricity's on, tip your cap
to center point. Okay, I'll give credit where it's due. Now, granted,
this wasn't as just it wasn't nearly as severe a
storm as we had a few years ago, even there

(22:40):
was last year. I think it got colder a couple
of times. But the bottom line is they did okay.
And I looked at the outage map this morning and
there were only I want to say, about thirty five hundred,
not three hundred thousand. There were about thirty five hundred
customers without power this morning, So that's not horrible. That's

(23:03):
not horrible. And these were isolated incidents too. If you
look at the map, you can see there were about
eight or ten little boxes on there that showed where
people were out.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
And there weren't many and any one of those.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
I suspect that what happened with those is that wires
got heavy with ice on that first night. I guess
it was what Saturday night going into Sunday when we
had rain, freezing rain, and it may have been enough
to get some wires to touch or get some wires
to lay down because they just got too heavy. I
don't think they got too heavy with ice. But between

(23:38):
that and oh man, I wish I could take this call.
That's Jim mckinvale. How about that Will, that's a big
time man. So anyway, the bottom line is all is well,
and we don't have that many people out, maybe a
half a dozen areas all together. Winter storm wasn't nearly
the magnitude of the one that left us in the dark.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Before year or four years ago. Not for four years.
Holy cow, And that's fine by me.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
In Avian News The American Kestral, I think this is
kind of a cool story. Hold on, I want to
give Will something here real quick and ask him to
do me a favor.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Where did it go? Stand by.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
There it is, Do me a favor, Will, and call
him and just ask him if he could do ten
minutes when we get back from this break, take my phone,
you can take it out of this. I want to
keep looking at what I'm looking at. See if we
can get Mattress Michael on the phone today maybe or
maybe tomorrow, And.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
This next segment would be great if we can get
him to do it.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
And because I want to talk about those z climbers
with him, I wish, I man, that might be next
on my list. My wife and I are about to
do some through some redecorating in the house, and it's
about time. We've been in that house a long time.
And some of it, if you just step back and look,
it's a whole. It's like from a time capsule.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
It was cool.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
It was great while we had it, when we had
at it, but not so much no more. So we're ready.
It's time back to the American kestral story. These are
tiny little falcons, is what. They are, very cool, and
they're helping cherry farmers on the upper Peninsula of Michigan.
And the help they are providing to those farmers up

(25:20):
there is in keeping a tremendous control over the rodents
that run around between the trees and run up and
down at whatever they do. I'm not sure why the
rodents are there, but they are. And the bottom line
is these birds are helping to reduce the rodents. And
when the rodents are reduced, then all of a sudden,

(25:43):
there's not so much need for pest control, for chemical
pest control, because those little rats run around there and
they can create a food born illness that's caused by
them and passed through the fruit to humans. Birds are really,
really good at what they do.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
They certainly are.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
In fact, the farmers say that without that they would
just have to use too much of the bad stuff.
And we're all trying to get all that bad stuff
out of us. That's what I'm trying to do with
this diet change I've made. I mean the exercise change
I've made too. My wife is a little more she's
a little more determined than I. She doesn't she rarely

(26:24):
misses a day, rarely misses a day, and when she does,
she tries to make up for it the next day.
I sometimes I feel like it. Sometimes I don't. And
I'm doing a lot of different things. I'm not going
to the gym and trying to powerlift and be And
what's that guy and it totally whatever? His name is

(26:46):
the guy who spoofs all these big giant bodybuilders, professional
powerlifter and these half their size, and he can pretty
much move twice.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
The weight some of those big old guys can.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
It's really kind of funny, honestly, from THEE how much
time do I have?

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Will too to the half? Is that too? Okay? Well
that was cute. Oh that means something else too, doesn't it?

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Something that slid see, yeah, slip it off the front page.
That's where we are now because of Minneapolis and Ice
the Clintons. They're in a heap of trouble. They really
are a heaping pile of trouble for refusing to testify
before the House Oversight Committee after being subpoena to do that.
They've been found in contempt of Congress, and now it's

(27:31):
just up to our Justice Department to see if they've
got the guts to pull all the stops and charge
that pair. I honestly believe that they know so much
and they are so scared of getting up there and
actually testifying. It goes back to what I said about
a week ago, maybe a little bit more than that.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Now.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
If they if they don't testify, then they've got to
just deal with being in contempt of of Congress. If
they do testify, then they've got to worry about what
everybody else who's also gonna have to testify will say,
and they need to hope that it doesn't contradict their testimony.

(28:15):
I think that they this might be there come to
Jesus moment.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Because they've got to decide which hell they want to climb,
and anyone they climbs, but going to be very slippery
and very messy.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
All right, we got to take a break.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Speaking of those gallery furniture z Cliners, z Cliners sleep
share gallery furniture, adjustable to everybody type, every comfort goal.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
It's so many things.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Really. It's a heated massage chair, which wouldn't feel bad
after one of our long walks, or maybe just something
to help me nod off while I'm watching golf on TV.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I would like that. It's also a recliner, it's a bed.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
It's just it's whatever you wanted to be for just
the alt soothing experience. And every one of those z
Cliner sleep chairs also has a powerlift option. I saw
the commercial for one of them on TV last night
and looked at that. I thought, Man, I hope I
don't ever need that, But if I do, I'm gonna
remember where I can get it with something that I

(29:17):
know I can count on. I know it's going to
be backed by one of the most popular and most
honest guys and nicest guys you'd ever meet. High tech relaxation.
That's what this is, and you can get it today.
You can get it today at any gallery furniture location.
I'm pretty sure they could get it to you tonight
if you go there and take care of business. Z

(29:37):
Cliner sleep chairs from Gallery Furniture.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Go check them out.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Old guys rule, and of course women never get old.
If you want to avoid sleeping on the couch.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Okay, if you think that sounds like a good please.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Fifty plus continues. Here's more with Doug. They are back
from the fourth and final segment of the show. Thank
you for listening us. Me do appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Oh mercy, look at all this stuff in front of me.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
I got to move this over. I can't deal with.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
That been on this console.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
From the.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
This it's kind of the one that's something else that
slid below the fold. Lately, and it really has that
the focus of mainstream media news has been like ninety
percent of nothing but riots, and it is writing what
they're doing up there violent protest. I watched video that

(30:38):
some protester took, I would presume of people lined up
along a roadside where ice vehicles were having to pass
through to go from one place to another, and they
had quite literally stacked up these I would say, apple
to cantalop sized chunks of concrete and we're just pelting

(31:01):
these cars with those rocks as if that were okay,
and it's not okay. And if those protesters, if that's
what they want to call themselves, violent protesters, are lucky
those guys didn't have a little free time on their hands,
because that could have turned really bad for every one

(31:22):
of them who had willfully and very well. They didn't
have really good arms that they wouldn't have qualified for
Little League Baseball, but nonetheless they were managing to get
the even the bigger pieces of concrete out far enough
in front of the cars. And yeah, some of them
were better tossers than others, let's just leave it at that.

(31:44):
But they were what they were doing all was wrong.
It just was we have a right in this country,
every one of us does to assemble peacefully and say
our piece and try to gather people who might listen
to what we think is right and maybe who maybe
sway them, maybe agree to disagree, but let's work on

(32:07):
a solution, anything like that. But they've taken it way
too far, and they're being pushed by you. If you'll notice,
most of the people carrying the signs, most of the
paid agitators are not the ones throwing rocks. They're not
the ones jumping in and punching on police officers. They're

(32:30):
standing back saying, man, somebody ought to do something about this.
They are causing some of the stir and they're in
just they're the fuel for this fire. They're not going
to get in there and get themselves arrested if they
can help it. That's the last thing they want. They
might miss a paycheck on the next place to go

(32:53):
and protest. So they stand back and look at some
young person, some gullible person, someone who's screaming and hollering
and just repeating what they're saying that man, somebody ought.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
To go do something about those people. Somebody needs to
get in the middle.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Of it, and they end up getting people hurt and
in a couple of cases now killed, probably even I
saw a story about the man who was killed yesterday,
was it or day before? And I apologize for not
being able to remember. That's a significant event. And it's
just not right where I want it right now. There's

(33:31):
so much in my head about so much that's going on,
And I believe it was his father who told him,
don't get involved, don't go to these things. It's not
going to work out, well, please don't and he did,
and for some reason felt like he needed to get involved.
And no matter what the circumstances that caused it to happen,

(33:52):
it wouldn't have happened had he not been there. It
wouldn't have happened if he'd have said, you know what,
I'm going to let them work it out. I'm not
going to do this to myself. I'm not going to
give my father reason to grieve my loss. So I
feel badly, But if you're not out there throwing rocks,
if you're not out there bringing weapons to a peaceful

(34:17):
demonstration and getting in the middle of a law enforcement operation,
that's not going to happen to you. It's just very
sad the whole thing. It's just very sad.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Ah the fraud thing too.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
It's becoming not just a few billion dollars, It's going
to be hundreds of billions of dollars that have been
just flat out stolen from US over the last probably
ten twelve years, maybe more by people who come over
here as refugees and then they don't bother to assimilate.

(34:50):
What they do is they kind of infiltrate and find
out how to job the system. And that's exactly what
they did. They were getting checks that you and I
could never dream of getting. They're living like professional athletes,
elite professional athletes. They're living like elite actresses and actors.
They're living like rock stars, and then complaining that they

(35:15):
didn't do anything wrong when they get caught with half
a dozen rolls royces. They get caught with there was one,
just big sums of cash. The number one thing that's
being confiscated up in Minnesota airports now on outbound flights.
It's cash is cash, and you can guess for yourself

(35:40):
who's carrying it out of the city, out of the state,
out of the country. Big big bundles of cash being
hidden and hopefully not found, but usually they get found.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
And that's no accident.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
It's horrible.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Okay, I got to go to something good and this
is really cool.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
How much time to have?

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Well?

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Two?

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Three?

Speaker 1 (36:00):
One?

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Okay, when your mark? Where did it go? I gotta
find it first?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Dad, come it? Where did it go? Okay? This is
really cool? On cars.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
South Bend, Indiana, man, an older guy named Moe who
worked at a Dollar Tree store, was for the very
longest time driving this horrible, beat up, torn up, banged
up pickup truck that became the brunt of tremendous social
media jokes.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Yeah, so a.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
Guy named Colin Crowell found this stuff and felt sorry
for Moe started to go fund me pay This guy
had been driving this truck for years and if you
go search it you'll see it's incredibly beat up and
torn up. It looks like the Hult smashed it. And anyway,
his go fund page, five hundred people chipped in more

(36:50):
than twenty six thousand dollars and with the help of
local dealership, they put Moe in a not a brand
new truck. It's okay, but anything would a horse and
buggy would have been better than what he had. But anyway,
they put him in a twenty nineteen Silverado that looks
almost brand new. There are so many good people in
the world, so many I wish folks who are angry

(37:10):
at the world would try to kind of take a
little lesson from the nice people. I'll tell you a
little bit more about my social media experiment tomorrow too.
It's all good. It's all good, just like you guys are.
Thank you for listening.
