Alright, alright, alright, alright, welcome back to the geek Set
podcast only podcast that blend hip hop coach Here and
geek Coachure together.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
I'm ther boy Deuces in this. This is one on
one with Deuce.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Is the place where I speak with creators, curators and
people that.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
You should know.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
And right now, man, you guys know, I love talking
to the new faces on the scenes, the actors and
actresses that are killing it, that are coming up in
the game. And we got a guy that I know
that a lot of y'all see constantly, especially if you
are a BT or BT plus member. But we have
the one and only Cheeto, and I hope I say

(01:25):
your last name right.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Well, Coch you close, You're close.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Look I'm close. I'm close.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
But again, Ben, how you doing bro on fantastic? Man,
can't go playing. I'm living your life right now.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
We're good. Hey, you know what and that's you know,
shout out to Norie again, drink tramps what. We make
sure that we give people their flowers while they're here.
And I want to let you know, man, the stuff
that Tyler Perry is doing over there at BT, giving
a lot of young actors chances, bringing new faces to Hollywood,
but also just giving people, like I said, those lead

(02:00):
roles or those heavy you know, rolls, written rows, And
I know that weekly I constantly see the timeline just
go crazy over those shows. And and you know, Sisters
is definitely one of those shows because you know it
has it has those captivating storylines, it has those those cliffhangers,

(02:22):
and you know you are a standing star within that show.
But also, like I said, you're you're you're jumping into
so many different realms from being in Top Gun, Hawaii five, oh,
even hitting the Days of our Life circuit. You know
what I'm saying for those and you know, also jumping
into video games for so from my from my fan
base and our followers to you, man, we want to

(02:44):
say thank you for what you're bringing to the game
and what you can and what you are thriving and
striving to do and everything that's going to come, because
like I said, we can right now we see the
future brightly for you, bro, and we rally behind you,
and I want you to know that we appreciate what
you bring to this game.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
I received that, man, I appreciate that a lot. I mean, no,
I love those words, man, thank you. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So you know, uh doing my research, you know one
like I said, uh, you are you are an ex
arena football player, which is crazy because like you know,
one of my closest friends he does arenal football and
he won. He doesn't do it anymore, he coaches it,
but he did it out here in Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
And I had a couple of buddies that was doing that.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
And you know, from uh from a fan perspective, just
only knowing.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Uh in the you know, college football and NFL.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
You know, you always think arena football is like all right, whatever,
that's what it is. But then being able to see that,
you know what I'm saying from my friends, and then
seeing how serious it is and how dope it is
and just like the commitment and and everything like that.
Like I just wanted to talk about that for a
quick moment, like you know, that's being your first passion
and everything and you're you know, you also getting your

(03:58):
scholarship and and just kind of fit miss school but
also playing all that that point of time in your life.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Man, what is what?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
How what does football mean to you?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Man? I am you know, passionate about sports. I mean
it's it's been something I've been playing my entire life.
And I can't stress that enough. I was, you know,
from playing basketball, football, track, like just year round, I'd
be playing different sports. I've always felt like I was
pretty good at everything I could pick up, you know
what I mean. Like I'm not saying I could have
gone pro playing all those sports, but I just had
a knack for just picking up sports, you know, right.

(04:30):
And I was, you know, football, basketball player coming up.
I always thought I was gonna go play basketball. I
had dreams of playing that got duke and then all
of a sudden, you know, it wasn't six four, six five,
and I was like, oh man, and I wasn't. I
was in a super you know, I'm six foot, so
I wasn't lik in a crazy good guard like that.
But I just, you know, I love basketball that much.
But I just want my coach telling me, you know,

(04:51):
you had a better chance playing football to go the
disc you know, to go a long way. And I
love I love football, And I was fortunate in high school,
you know, stand out, and I went to junior college.
I heard of I went to junior college I was
able to put up good numbers and it was fortunate
enough to get a scholarship collegiately to Hall University. Played
a few years. There was the best experience, you know,
of my life, just getting a chance to want earn

(05:12):
a scholarship, because those things are not giving out there.
I don't think you can understand how many athletes are
in this in our country trying to get a scholarship,
and you know, there's only a small percentage that get
that opportunity to go to college and play football. And
when I was able to do that, and you know,
obviously I had dreams of playing at the next level,
which is the NFL, like a lot of us did.

(05:33):
And I felt like I had a good shot, but
you know, things didn't materialize, and you know, and I
just kept chasing it, kept chasing. Even a few years
after it chased it, played in the UFL league, which
eventually folded and then got cut and was like, all right,
let me go there are arena ball and played for
a year battle some injuries, but I was able to
pursue it at a professional level. You know, I didn't
make it in the NFL, and I was able to

(05:55):
actually also get it out of my system. And I
think a lot of athletes which struggle with what do
we do after sports? Because it is part of our
our identity. You know, Yes, we are passionate about other things,
you know, we maybe have other interests, but you know,
football is that that crutch that we hold on to.
You know that at least I can hang my hat
on this, you know, and you never you know, I

(06:16):
also say that people never know that you're gonna get cut.
You don't think you're you're gonna be the guy that
doesn't make it to the end. Yeah, you know, they
be like, you know, they say zero point one percent
of people, you know, people percent magas in league, and
you're like, okay, we I'm gonna be one of them
one percent. Until you're in that room and someone's like, hey,
you know you're cut, and you're like dang. You know,

(06:37):
so it gets you and you're just like, okay, you
know what's I think that's the first time you should
be like, you know, okay, like what's my next move?
Like what else do I want to do? Because you know,
the NFL does stand for not for long and again,
not everybody gets to play ten fifteen years Tom Brady
or whatever, and we go to the Hall of Fame.

(06:58):
So you know what's next for you? And I think
a lot of you know, when you get a chance
to sit with yourself and understand that you do have
other passions, that you are good at other things, and
this is just part of your journey. This is just
part of the road to who you're becoming. What else,
what else is out there for you? And for me,
after I was done with football, I was able to
get in my system. I said, you know, I've always
had a passion for appening. I always wanted to act.

(07:18):
I always wanted to pursue that at the high level.
And you know, I obviously I watched the will Smiths
and Eddie Murracy Murphy's, Jamie foxx Martin, like all these guys.
You know, Denzel, you know, of course you're seeing them
on You're seeing them on TV, and you're just like, man,
that's something I want to do. But they were obviously
a little older. But the inspiration and I remember around

(07:41):
like twenty twelve I actually saw it was what thought
I saw like Michael B. Jordans. I saw him doing
this thing and that was kind of the first guy
that was around my age group. Look you know what
I mean. I was like, oh no, you know, like
Michael doing too, you know, just you know, you you know,
big motivation, big inspiration because you know the person who

(08:02):
ever after again my age but I was kind of
seeing pop off and I was like, Okay, you know,
this is something that I can actually really dive into.
And you were starting to see the industry push a
little bit more. Not a there, but we're pushing a
bit more. We're getting more, you know, diverse stories, diverse
actors on screen. And I knew this was a time
to make that that segue. So I started taking classes.

(08:22):
I had like a big old pro hoog. I was
like twenty pounds heavier, you know. And I was like,
you know, I was like, when when can I take
off my shirt? I show off this hard work on screen?
And it's not just acting. You know, you gotta you
gotta act, You gotta go to school. And I was like, okay, well,
I'm going to take everything that I learned in football,
everything that I applied, the hard work. I always had
a chip on my shoulder always. I always felt like

(08:44):
I wasn't blessed to be this fast, this tall, this athletic,
but I always felt like I had enough, and I
mentality is always stuck with me through every avenue, like
I feel like I've been given enough, but I have
to work for it if I want more. And so
I just applied that to acting, even though I started
a little later. I just applied to like, okay, committing
to class, not getting caught up with the lifestyle and partying,

(09:05):
you know, trying to create some form of balance, but
understanding like hey, if you're you're trying to be a
professional in another avenue, you understood how hard that was
and how many people are trying to do it. You
want to turn into this industry where you didn't grow
up and you're competing against people who have been doing
this their whole life, not to mention moving to a
city like La where everyone's trying to do the same thing.
So there's not a lot of room for error and

(09:26):
not a lot of margin for error, especially as a
young black actor. You know what, I's not so many
roles out there for you. So you got to have
your head on straight and really apply yourself to this
if you want the opportunity to get the chance to
make it. I always say, it's an opportunity, like you
just you can get the audition, You can get the
opportunity to get there and show showcase your abilities. It
doesn't mean you're going to get it, you know. So

(09:48):
I made that transition, you know, taking classes. Driving back,
I had like an O one BMW or A five Series,
and I was driving from Sacramento to San Francisco two
days week taking classes. Ran that car into the ground.
I was doing fitness in the hospital. I moved to
and saved up a little minute enough to move to
LA and was working in security, bartending, serving weekends upon weekends,

(10:12):
upon weekends, do what you gotta do, how to do
what I had to do, you know what I mean,
weekends upon weekends again just like hoping for your shot.
And then started a job. I remember I started a
job audition for Tyler Perry's other show, right it was
the the Oval. Didn't get it, so I flew back,
started a new job. Man started a new job on

(10:33):
my account was ran down. I was like, it's ugly
right now. First day on that job, first day on
that job, I get a call and they're like, hey,
they want to fly you out for this other show.
You know what I mean. And I'm like, I'm I'm hurting.
I'm I'm gonna need that, you know, you get that
training check, you know what I mean that training check.

(10:57):
And my team I was like, well when they want
me to fly out and we're like tomorrow, and I'm like,
I just started this job. And so I went to
the manager the time. I was like, listen, I know
I told you, I told you I wanted to be
an actor, but I actually have an opportunity to fly
out to audition for the show. And he's like, oh,
it's all good, don't worry about it. You know, you
go get it. So I'm like, okay, cool, fly to Atlanta,
wake up in the morning, get a get a message

(11:20):
from saying, hey, I'm so sorry. I'm fortunately we're gonna
have to move on and get someone else in here
to train for the job. So now I'm asked excuse me,
I'm asked out for the job. So now I have
no money in my care I got an audition, not
you know, test, not down to the final job yet,

(11:41):
so I'm stressing and my other cats may alway joking
aroun because I remember me in their audition room. I'm
like you know, going over the lines and everything, okay,
like you know, all right, like just trying to like
just going there, and I just remember I just to
calm myself down and just pray it. I say, all right, God, listen,
just let me go in there and do what I
expect myself to do. I don't I'm not asking to
give me the job. Uh, just let me put on

(12:01):
the best performance because I'm prepared. I'm ready. I've taken
the classes, I've done it. I've done it, I've done
the work. So listen, let me do my thing. And
if the chips fall, that the chips fall where they may.
And so I remember I went in. I read for
another role, actually not even the role that I got.
I read for another room. And then they were like, hey,
we actually want you to read it for this other role.
And I was like, okay, well how much time do
I got? And They're like, well, you're going up after

(12:21):
those other guys, and I was like yeah, So you know,
picked the lines, pickle the lines, went back in the room, man,
laid it down, walked out, and was like, all right,
I did my part. Five days later I got a
call that you booked it. Man. I just did like
four or five laps around. I'm a workout guy, so
I had to go work out it.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
We got the birth there, what was it?

Speaker 1 (12:45):
What was it a headf because I know you had
some music playing. What was the music playing?

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Man, I don't even I was playing. I don't even
know when I was playing at the time, something like
bay Area forty, Like, yeah, you tell me where to
go kick this something?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Because I know.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I always says though, there's three songs for me that
once I accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
So you know, my my role in blurred culture is
the reporting of blurred culture.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Like I told you and before we started an interview,
I like to celebrate and make sure people see, like, yo,
the geek that the media showed us is not what
you think.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
It's not Steve Erkle all the time you see a
black geek.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
It's a lot of people like us, a lot of
cool motherfuckers or you know, people that are doing some
dope things right, And so like I want to report
on the dope people doing that right. So the three
songs that I got that I'm definitely gonna play when
things happen. One is Nipsey Hustle victory Lap like that
is that it's going to get played. Yogatti Racks, I
got them racks. That is like my celebratory song, like

(13:50):
if I get the bag, I'm definitely celebrating with that one.
And then the the last one is Dreams and Nightmares
Meek Mills, Like it's just it's it's all those come
up and you know those songs that make you feel like.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
You accomplish something amplish.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
You want to know the biggest thing that took away
from your story though, and this is how how crazy
life works and how how you know I, like I said,
I don't know what people believe in.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I believe in the higher power. I believe in God.
So this is how this is how I.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Believe that God prepared you for that moment because you
dedicated a lot of your your teenage and life and
going into adulthood to sports. You know, you wanted to
be an arenal football and everything like that, and a
big thing in sports is being able to read that
defense and audible and everything like that. Right you being
a wide receiver, you got to be able to pivot,

(14:40):
but you also got to know your route and know
how to run and rite. So in that moment, like
I said, yes, you were the reason why you were preparing, because,
like I said, you're reading that script, preparing your lines.
But then they hit you with that audible like hey,
we got to run this other line, and you was
like all right, and then you had and you had
to immediately, and it was like where to go?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
That's that's really dope.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, So that was my story, just getting this job.
And then after that, you know, you know, obviously keep
the doors start opening up, and you start you know,
you just get you get settled, I would say, because
you know, you're you're not really hurting for money anymore more.
So you're just like, Okay, what's my next move. Let's
take care of some things, Like now, let's really lock in.
I think that's when begins to start to me, that's

(15:24):
when it just because you can't rest on your laurels.
I think, you know, it's like when you make a team,
some people rest on the lawyers. You don't realize there's
still five other guys working out on the side for
your job, you know, I mean, you're not locked in
with it. So I've always STI always have that, like
there's still other you know, characters being brought in. There's
still other young, other black actors that I see coming up.
You know, I would see a room for each other.

(15:45):
But I still have to make sure that I'm in
the mix too, you know, right, So I'm always you know,
I'm always still preparing, still taking classes, still, you know,
coaching on my work, still taking care of my body,
my mind, spiritually, everything, making sure that I'm sound and
just ready for my you know, next opportunity that's gonna come.
And I know there's gonna be another one and it's
gonna take me, and it's just gonna keep going up.
And as an notoriety comes, obviously there's more expectations, there's

(16:08):
more you know, you definitely want to give back to
other actors that are trying to do the same thing.
And you're definitely still pulling knowledge from other actors that
have come before you to understand how to navigate these
new levels that you're at, you know what I mean. Yeah,
you know, being known and and and how to move
and manage your money and expectations that come along with it.
So yeah, no journey, but.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
You know, it's like I said, you're disciplined is what's
going to help you float because you know, one, like
I said, even the way you even presented it earlier
on you was like you know, you started jumping into
acting a little bit later, right, But like you know,
one of the things that this world has showed us
now and you're you're a living embodiment of it, is
that there's no more timetables.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
You know.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
I'm a big advocate for that. I tell people all
the time.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I'm like, look, there's there's so many people in this
world that's going to tell you a g oh, you
can't do that. Man, that's a little bit you little
bit too right, And I said, I'm never gonna be
that person for people, right, So I'm like, share me
your dreams, and even if I don't know that field,
I'm gonna be interested and give you my undivided attention
because I know that there's more people that's gonna write
you off versus the person who's going to And I

(17:14):
do that in my everyday walk of life.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Right.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
And so when you think about like your commitment, like
I said, you said, like you started late, but you
didn't take it as a all right, I got this
working against me you say, you know what, I'm gonna
hit the ground running. I'm gonna make sure that I
study this because one of the things that I love
about Twitter and the social media right now is that
everything is documented, right, And so when I'm going back

(17:38):
and I'm like I said, I do extensive research when
I do my guest right.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
I love the fact that you are you are one
of us. Right.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
You were on Twitter when Power was going crazy and
you was type here, oh what is going on?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Right?

Speaker 2 (17:53):
When Marble was coming up and you were seeing those trailers,
you were like yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
But the one thing that I loved about how you
tweeted about it too, is you always shouted out the writers.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
And to me, that's a person to the details. Because
the reason why I love love Craft Country, Yes, Jonathan
Major Dinner, he did his thing, and that Cash Journey,
Simolead and everybody did their thing.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Green's writing is what.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yo. Yeah, yeah, I'm nothing like watching some good writing.
Yeah I watch It's like yeah, yeah, man, I'm just
a big fan. I love I love like you said,
I love showing people with love and and you know,
just giving people like you said, giving people their flowers. Man,
And you're watching another artist do their thing and it's
just beautiful. But also too, I picked people. I picked

(18:40):
success from other people in different worlds, and you can
learn a lot from multiple people in their their journeys
with whatever there whether it be a doctor, whatever, you know,
whatever they do. Because you're just hearing those those trials
and tribulations how they got played. You can pick it
and you're understanding. You're listening to certain things that like, Okay,
there's there's perseverance, there's there's endurance, there's you know, there's

(19:00):
like there's a set of discipline, there's different things you
can pick up from people's stories to understand where they
got to, where they got to where they're at and
why they got there as well. So you know, and
you know, in my particular field of my journey, I said, listen,
I can't tell you exactly how to become an actor
because there's so many different ways and different stories. You
didn't know, But I can tell you my way. You
know what I mean, because you didn't. You didn't you know,

(19:21):
you didn't play football, You know you didn't do this,
you didn't. My story is different, my journey is different,
but you can piece of it. Maybe you do relate
because you used to be an athlete, or maybe you
do relate because you might have started late. And I
never took that as a bad thing. I was just like, Okay,
well I didn't start like at eight or fifteen or nineteen.
But I have a lot of life experiences. So when

(19:41):
I'm reading some of this stuff, I can pull from this.
I've seen these guys I've served, you know, walked to
tables with a business meeting and rich guys talk, and
I've seen the way they sit and talk and how
they you know, you know, interact with women or interact
with staff. I've seen the different guys in the locker room,
the monolith of lack of people like you know, the
super jocks, the guys that were like playing football and

(20:04):
going up and they love their chemistry and love math,
the guys that are in the comic books and stuff
like that. The different different rounds. So I know, it's like, oh,
this this is kind of reminds me of this person. Man.
If I can remember that, I can pull pieces from there,
I can create this person here. Well, this reminds me
of this, you know, I just pulled from that. So,
you know, a lot of it's just live experience and
watching for actors that people watching.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Well, but you know, yeah, but that's the big thing though,
Like these type of stories need to be told though,
because you got to think about it this way.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
You know, let's let's keep it a bean in America.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
You know, white America has as many chances as possible
to be successful.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Right as long as we've.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Been black in this country, they've told us that we
had three ways to get out. Either you're going to
be a ballplayer. Either you're going to be a rapper,
or either like I said, like either like you're going
to end up in jail or dead.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Right, Like that's what they tell us, right, And so
what I love.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
About stories like yours or like even like somebody even
you know, people like Spice Adams and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
And the reason why I wait the same is is
because you know a.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Lot of the times they tell us, once you get
that one shot, that's it, don't don't they tell like
you'll hear people say, hey, hey, Cheato, don't fuck it up, bro,
Like you know what I'm saying. And it's like, No,
I can continue and grow and I can evolve, and
I can do multiple things and I love seeing when
people like you're not. Here's the thing where your story
with what is really dope. And also it also it

(21:30):
also kills the stereotype. Right, so we all know, like
eyvonn Orgy talks about it all the time, you're Nigerian,
so we all know the Nigerian parents.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
You know what I'm saying, Like, you.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Gotta go to school, right, but you did that, You
went to school, got your degree in health administration.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Right.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
But then not only that, you were successful in football,
like I said, an a renal football. Again, just just
as much as everybody shooting for the NFL, there are
people that are also shooting for these other football opportunities.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
And rights are trying to play those leagues.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Yeah, and so you were successful there and now you've
been successful and you know in the acting world, and
it is that it's showing that like, look, we are
not monolith and we do not have one way to
make it out of the bad predicaments that we've been
set up against. We can come and we can make
it here, and we can also set up ourselves so
that we got something to fall back on. Because again,
in white America, that's what they have. You have a

(22:27):
lot of actors and actresses who started off when they
were like forty five fifty.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Steve Carell didn't really pop off until he was like forty.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Now.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Granted, I'm not saying taking anything away from him, but
you don't hear those stories often, and when those stories
do happen, they often get like overshunned, like people. People
make it seem like Jeffrey Wright, who's an amazing actor,
was popping as a young actor and he wasn't, but
his career is amazing, and it shows that, like.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
There is no timetable.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
If you have a skill set and you have the determination,
you can jump into the Yeah, and I look.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
And make it happen. And I tell people too, don't
you know, don't be afraid to pivot, you know. I
you know, obviously I pivoted.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
You know.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
You know, you're you're just people. You know a lot.
You know. I committed to, you know, being a lawyer
and everything and that. But I have this passion because
I wanted to start this, you know, a bit small
business something. It's like, well and listen, if you want
to do that, then there's no better time than now
to do it. You know what I mean? You don't
have to be locked into it. You can pivot. You're
still young enough. Like you hear your twenties or thirties

(23:30):
or forties, you think you're older. You No, you're not.
You're still young enough to make things happen, right, you
know what I mean? And if you you know, depending
on where you're at in your life, if you're single,
or you have responsibilities or whatever, if you have a partner,
you can make that work with them and make that
pivot you can make You can make that stuff happen.
It's never too late to do anything. I'm a firm
believe in that because I've started and stopped countless right,

(23:51):
and nobody was I was like, oh, yeah, I come,
I open up a fitness business and I'm gonna blow
up fitness. I'm gonna be business. And that's like, actually,
I don't think I want to do that. Well, I
got my degree, I'm working hospital, you know what, I
don't want to do that either, you know. Yeah, it's
just until I find what's really gonna make me happy,
what's gonna wake me up each and every day and
be like, man, I'm really glad I'm doing what I'm doing.

(24:12):
I'm really doing what I love right now, and I'm
in that space right now where I'm actually waking up
each day and I'm like, damn, I'm really doing what
I love. And now I get to expand that into
other stuff that I'm still passionate about and contribute in
other ways. I still love sports. I still love giving
back to the youth. I still love speaking and talking
to you, you know, younger kids that are coming up
and being and letting them know, hey, listen, yes, go

(24:36):
all out with you if you want to make it, yes,
go all out, but just understand you can do other things.
There's other stuff. It's not over. I just like, I
always want to get that part across. It's like it's
not over over. Yeah you know what I mean. I
know it's like you can't have a plan. It's like, listen, man,
a little bit, right, Okay, you.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Know that's just not is that hustler's mentality.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
People have a hustler's mentality, but people also have a
misconstrued hustlersman.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Right. People think that you gotta have the one route.
And you know, Brandon, like I said, I'm a hip
hop head, and I know that kind of came from
hip hop.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
That's because what we was we was fed with, right,
But then look at some of the top hustlers that
we grew up listening to jay Z Diddy.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
You know what I'm saying, master P.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
You know, no matter what era of hip hop that
you came from, a lot of these people they don't
have one hustle, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
So it's like, you know, right now, right you're seeing
it right now, all those names that you mentioned, if
you ask them right now, are they still rapping? And
they'd be like, they're touching so many different things. Obviously
that's something they use that first thing as a vessel,
I mean, as you know, to go up and then
they just boom, They just expanded out to all the
stuff that they're doing. So it's like that's that's they're

(25:45):
showing you the blueprints right on that. But that's that's
right there in front of you, right there, what they're
showing you.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
You know, so yeah, and you know so you know,
continuing in the sports world, the most randomest cameo of
yours is you are a random ref in the NBA
two K bro.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
I'm not gonna speak I'm not gonna speak too much
on it. Because you know, it's it's so funny because
like don't message me, you know, messing me on in
social media or whatever and.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Be like, man, I know I know that you you
want to, you want to you And I just.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Be like, hey, man, that's someone that looks like me.
That's just someone that looks like me.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
So I never really talked about too much because I
always let people piece it together. And it's usually dudes like, uh,
you know couples that you know, the women predominantly watch
our show and make their boyfriend sit down and watch it.
Those some guys obviously enjoy it as well. And then
you just sitting there like, you know, came up to
me say, yo, bro, I was watching the show with
my sister, my girl. I was like, hold on, that's

(26:47):
that dude on the game. It was like, this is Gary,
he's like on the game. So I love hearing those stories, man.
But yeah, yeah, that's I would say it once that
is me, and I don't say it again.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
But I mean, but you also, what was it when
you was in another game that was Mafia three? You
did voices?

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah yeah, are you like that?

Speaker 5 (27:11):
Man?

Speaker 3 (27:11):
I just I used to I used to play video
games heavy. Okay, I'm slowly getting back into it, you know,
I'm getting getting the system. You know, man, I used
to play it so much, and I was like, I
need because at the time, that wasn't really an avenue
at the time, you know, it wasn't gaming wasn't fully
where it's at today where you can make it now, bro, man,

(27:37):
you know, I mean I feel like I missed the
window just by like, you know, good seven eight years
that was. I was like, I was heavy, heavy playing
games heavy. So but now, like I mean, obviously, one
of my other goals is to continue to you know,
be either you know, obviously voice king and also being
a part of video games because I love it. I
just love I loved even seeing people play games and
I'm like, or I watched the commercials and I'm like, dang,

(27:59):
I want to be a part of that.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yeah, I mean, it's also you gotta be like outside
of just the video gaming, Like the games are being
turned to shows and we like, you know, the Last
of Us was masterfully done. I don't know if you
ever played that game and watch that theories, but that
is the best video game adaptation turned to something like
a movie or a series. Right, they did it so

(28:21):
well and the game was already cinematic itself. But even
if you think about like where GTA came from, like
these stories are crazy, like you know what I'm saying, and.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Films now too.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Everybody has the stereotypical on what a black geek is.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Are you familiar with the turn blurred blood?

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Some people said it came off of scrubs, some people
said it came off the internet.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I don't honestly really know. Don't you see the skin,
the eyebrows, the hair. Yo, my geeks still rock, you
know what I'm saying. Dumps or or Jordan's or whatever
did I do that? It's exciting. It's like coming, Oh
my god, it's gonna start barking. That's all right. She's

(29:04):
excited about it too.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
And same as you said, like a barbershop talk like
we would go into really in depth conversations about these
theories and like well what if and I'll come.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Right, But we we talk about anime, video games, comic
books and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
But when you hear us talk about it, the passion.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Sounds like we arguing Jordan and Braun, what.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Does that even mean?

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Does that even mean like it sounds like barbershop talking.
You don't know the.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
History bright.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
But when you see the blacke you don't see that.
You see the socially awkward glasses. Well, this is me
and that's not a lot of us. A lot of
us do sound and talk like us. You know what
I'm saying, because it.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Becomes stereotypical, as if that's where our strength comes from.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
I don't know the she talk that you that she
talked about before I knew what gets you talking about
right now though it was sort of a call sign
so we can find each other on message boards. Anime
gives you life lessons throughout that whole thing, Like there's
not one anime that I know of that doesn't teach
you to never give up.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
It's just like, I just love seeing us go into
ropes and going to different spaces and create things that
weren't there before.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
And then it was like Miles grow was like the normal,
you know, black person in the United States. That was
my first like blurred moment with seeing you know, Storm
on an X Men cartoon series, and I was like, Wow,
that's a black woman and she's strong, she's powerful.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
That's what I want for us. I want us to
be that voice.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Boy what a thing is is like so you know,
for the longest we got you know, it wasn't like
really dope comic book movies. It was like you liked it,

(31:08):
but it was like it's a small niche Like, you know,
I like Batman begins, but I'm not putting it up
there with Infinity end Game.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
You know, avengures in game and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Right, so this is the start because now those video
games like when when Iron Man first came out, or
who know, thinking back when Dark Knight first came out
and you saw it and you said, yo, like yo,
this is the Batman that I always wanted.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Like that's how video games is get into right now.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
I still watch that movie every quarter. Yeah, all three
of them.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah quarter.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
At first I was watching it like every month, but
I was like, I gotta come back every three months.
I'm gonna sit down. I'm gonna watch all three of
them all the way. It's my Dark Night Love.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
It showed us they I would say, doctor, you could
be serious with these films. It doesn't have to be Yeah,
you could.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Be and and I like my stuff a little. I
like my stuff a little dark, a little darker, a
little edgier, a little more grounded. How would you fit
it into this world? You know what I mean? And
so I've always I love Marvel, I love DC. My
one of my biggest goals is to be a comic
book hero, like they can be a role like oh,
He's like no, no, no, no no, I gotta be

(32:25):
a hero. I gotta I gotta be com or anti
hero like I gotta be in that world. I want
to be like a villain anti hero type type deal,
you know what I mean. But I gotta be a
part of it. That's like that's endgame for me. That's like, oh,
you you can win an Oscar. I be like, yeah,
that's great, that's great. I gotta get that. I gotta
get that.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
But you want to be in DC though, right.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Listen, I'm not gonna write off Marvel. Don't get it twisted.
I want whatever whatever happens.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
I'm with whatever, yeah, because I mean yeah, because Marble
is a little lighter.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
They've had a Captain American Civil War, little dark, little
little edgier age old Tron. But DC's always been a
little darker. It has always been a little more brown.
And I've always gravitated to that.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
I'm a DC fan boy myself. I said, I love Marvel,
but like d C is my is my ship.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
If you haven't watched the animated stuff, like the movies
and stuff like that on DC, you should because they
get so like the stuff that you love about the
Dark Knight. Like like if you like flash Point and
they're all on HBO Max, because I know you go
to the d C tab and watch any of those

(33:41):
Justice League movies. I know, the Dark Side War like
the Dark Side Saga and the Wars on there is amazing,
but Flashpoint is really like one of my favorite ones anyone, Like,
I guarantee you because again, one you like the writing right,
and those writings they rival Marvel's movies.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Like DC's animation is that good that it rivals the
live action Marvel and how good it is.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
But I wanted to get into it because I was saying,
like I love when actors expressed where they want to
go or stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
Yeah, me being a you know, the.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Resident blur like bro DC, DC has one. We still
haven't locked down our John Stewart with you would kill it,
you would kill it.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
I was gonna go there, but you said it listen exactly.
I was like, I a deadline, like, are not yet okay?

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Because when I when I think of John Stewart, so
in the animated series, in the series and in the movies,
Phil Lamar voice John Stewart and the cartoons and everything
like that, right, and he has this commanding voice, right,
and so just knowing what you can do with your voice,
you can have that commanding voice. But again you're also
physically fit. You have the stature of a order the figure.

(35:01):
So knowing that John Stewart is, you know, he's the
one that that that pretty much monitors that sector, and
you gotta have that where it's like, all right, I
can see John Stewart as a leader, but also I
respect him as an authority figure. Also I ain't gonna
I ain't gonna try my luck with him because you
look like he can throw these hands like yeah, yeah,
I can't fit all the modes right there, bro.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
That's why I've always loved it. I mean, I take
up I boxed as well, box like three days a
week more than there. Get my spar on. Try to
time it out so I'm not interrupting my film. I
don't want to get no shiner or nothing, you know,
but always staying physical and take care of myself just
because that's my nature. I play ball my entire life.
Also back in my head, I'm like, I want them
when they look at me to be like this guy

(35:44):
already has it already, you ready already.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
They don't have to I don't have to give you.
They don't got to give you.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
The we don't need. I don't need no sense to
those guys, I mean at all. But like you know, listen,
I don't need it already. I'm already here. Now get
the resume. I always I'll go to another level, but
I'm already. I'm already. We're gone on the cameras right now.
And you know what I mean. That's why mess. That's
how I'm always trained, you know. So I know when

(36:11):
I do get that opportunity, you give me the meal plans,
the extra the extra meal plans. This man with the
outlook of this is what we're getting ready for man
a lot. But so that would be a problem.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Being at you box And like I said, and like
I said, you are, how did you like Creed?

Speaker 3 (36:26):
I loved it?

Speaker 1 (36:27):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I loved it. I loved it, man, it was really good.
I'm Michael Jordan. I mean, you know, big Michael and
Jordan fan, he's doing his thing, was doing this thing too,
and just watching that. It was Michael me Jordan's director,
you know, directed it as well. The shots they created.
I know, he had like a uh he wanted to
create like a lot of the ad and pulled up
an anime into a lot of the flight scenes which

(36:48):
you could see, you know, get punched, you see the
sweat fly off of it and everything like that. It
was clear. It was really good. I just thought the
contrast and the story was amazing. Johha Major is just
the character that he created, and then my could be
Jordan obviously, you know, leading that franchise and holding it
and the contract between the two characters was great. And
I love the story of them coming back coming from

(37:10):
where they came from there because that is very relatable.
You know, we do, like Blair, We have I have
guys that I know that work ten times better than me, you.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
Know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
But for whatever reason, you know, whatever, whether it be
some unfortunate circumstances or whatever, just get pieces together and
you can kind of see how when you crawl, how
they would be a nextually cross paths again, you know.
I mean, I thought that storyline was great. It was
just a great movie, and I'm wondering. I'm like, if
they would do another one or something. But if the
dude listen, I'll start the pomp right now here on

(37:44):
your own podcast.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Hey, I love that. I love that.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
But you know so the reason why I did want
to bring that up also too is because, like I know,
like around the time when the pandemic hit, I saw
that you were I don't know if you was talking
to one of your peers or one of the like that,
but you were saying that you were you were getting
into anime. Have you have you started your journey yet?

Speaker 3 (38:05):
No?

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Not really.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
My brother would say no, my brother is huge. That's
why backstop just a little bit. When you talked about
you in the beginning, like there's a there's a so
many guys that are into this stuff. And I was like, yeah,
because my brother the same way and out to all
the anime folks out there. Much love, But I wasn't
on board in the beginning. My brother was watching anime
and I'd be like, turn this off, man, you pick

(38:29):
up the ball and play ball, like, let's go, let's
go out, Like yeah, top of this, let's pay some
video games. Not that video game plut Maddy put on together. Okay,
what are you doing when you're doing and he's like, bro,
you gotta watch, you gotta watch, you gotta watch that.
You gotta watch something never now and then I just
like peek in I'll be like that was actually yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
So here's the thing that what I love to do
is I love getting people like you who have that
small interest but who needs to to kind of get
into it, right.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, there's so much and it's like, what's just the
one to start with? Like where got you?

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Like, you know, so it's that's what I got you.
So here's the thing because again I do my research.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Right, So, knowing that you're into boxing, there's a boxing
anime called Megalo Blox right that I'm I'm I'm gonna
send it to your people to tell I like making list,
but Megalo boxes. It's it's pretty it's pretty much like
the world has went to kind of like these mech
suits boxing, right, and but one boxer he still got

(39:31):
He's like, yo, I'm I got these hands and I
don't like to do all that, right, but I want
a box and I got to.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
So he got like he gets this old like raggedy,
like it's like enhancement. So it's not like full robot.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
It's like enhancements that go on top of your body, right,
and everybody's clowning him, like, bro, this this material is
is not fit for this boxing. But because of his
natural skill and combining it with the technology, he becomes
one of the dopest boxers in that league, killing it.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
That's when they shoot.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Check out My hero Academia for Your Love of superhero
it's pretty much a school training all the new young heroes,
but they look up to the new you know, the
already established heroes. You gotta get your heroes license and
everything like that, like you will love that. And then
there's another one called Curraco's Basketball. It's pretty much basketball,

(40:21):
but like it's like to the extreme. So imagine NBA
players now Steph Curry, like you said, he got a
limited range, but it's like the anime trope. So it's
like somebody's like, oh my god, that's Steph Curry. He
can shoot from anywhere, and they go through the whole
anime intros and everything and he shooting and like they
have it's like their powers up or like Lebron, it

(40:42):
will be like this amazing dunker, like oh, he could jump.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Out of the gym. But it's like like you would
these animes.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
I'm gonna send them to your peoples because I think
as star animes, they're not long. They're short enough for
you to start to see like, Okay, this something that
I'm gonna like, but the stories are good enough where again,
with your love a writer, you're gonna be like, yo,
this is like because that's what I tell people about anime,
the aesthetics when you see Yeah, when you see it,
it looks like okay, it's a cartoon, right, and anime

(41:11):
is anime. So sometimes you may see some random anime
titties and you're like, wait, what did you really really
watch it? The whole thing that's not the whole thing,
but the writing. I legit seen people cry over anime
because that writing is so good and it pulls on
your heartstring. So yeah, and again I think that you
will love them based off of that, off of the

(41:31):
writing and everything alone. But then I think it'll also,
like I said, how Michael B. Jordans saw those elements
and said, I want to put that in a movie
for him because even outside of the sweat, the whole
punching that he did to Jonathan Major's stomach that was
based off on z even that meat, that moment where
the crowd goes away and it's just them two.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
Boxing like that is like all that is.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Yeah, yeah, And so like I think I'm gonna send
this to your people because I think that you're gonna
like it would be a good introduction to it. And
then also like your brother, you'll shock your brother because
these are these are some deep, some deep animes too,
because like you got the surface levels right, you know,
just like superhero movies, Like you talk about superheroes to
the average person, they're gonna be like Superman, Batman, spider Man.

(42:19):
But these are the ones that people gonna be like wait,
wait wait, whoa whoa You like, your brother gonna be
like whoa whoa, whoa whoa.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
About how do you know about them? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
I like making lists like that for people because again
I like bridging the gap, you know what I'm saying,
Because because again the stereo type stereotypical of what an
anime viewer is. They make it seem like it's those nerds,
it's the socially awkward person and everything. And the next said,
I like breaking that, man, because are you you're familiar
with our DC world, right?

Speaker 1 (42:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Man, oh my god.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
They put on I don't know if you've ever been
to like a comic book convention, but they put on
their own called Dream Cone.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (43:05):
So our first time going was last year. The reason
why I loved it so much, so I go to
a lot of comic book conventions. We just left C
two E two in Chicago. We're from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so
we kind of just travel go to these conventions film
because we're filming a documentary.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
But we went to dream Con. This was in Texas.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
When I tell you that, it was nothing but people
that looked like us cosplaying. We're in costumes, showing love,
just all love, right. And then also the talent, Like
you go to these comic book conventions and the talent
is it's not as diverse as we like it to see,
like who's on that main stage, but a dream con
it was nothing but us. And then the last part

(43:45):
to me that really sold it is you know, in
the black community, the most respected members in the black
community is black is mothers and fathers, older people in
the black community.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
So in this dream Con, the whole.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Security staff was older men and older women, and you know,
we gonna give that respect.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
So it's like, yeah, yeah, I love everything about this con.
And then also the smells.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
You know, there's there's a joke that comic conventions the
nerds be musty, but you know, Black people, we don't.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
We don't play about our smells. We don't. And so
at dream Con, all you smell was just smell good
Coco butter.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
No, you're not dressing up getting there and beat on.
You ain't gonna call me musty. I can say a
lot of alligations. I think that's.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
You can't shake the musty allegations.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
So bro like, if you ever, if you ever, like
really start diving into this geek world and you just
want to connect with blurds man, there's a blurred con.
There's dream Con, Like, go to regular comic book conventions,
but come to the all black ones and see this experience,
because it is an experience.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
It's it's just different. It's the way we talk.

Speaker 2 (44:59):
It's the way that we do things, you know, because
like we're doing character, but we're like, you know, I'm
not cutting I invested in my locks. I'm not cutting
my lock, right, so my ch'chila gonna have locks. And
but it's like, but I'm a swag it out, you
know what I'm saying. Like I saw somebody do at
C two E two there was a black guy. He
was President Loki. So you know remember when they showed

(45:20):
all those Loki variants and the Loki Show. Yeah, yeah,
he was President Loki. But because he was a black man,
he was a little bit taller, had had locks, had
the full beard and gold tee. I said, Bro, it's
just something about your or that makes this President Loki
my favorite president.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
It looks swagged out and everything.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
And so it's like it is that you know, you'll
see a Spider Man or Miles Morales, but also he
got chained or something like that.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
It's just like, yeah, everything, bro, like you gotta come
out whenever you get it.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Me out of something. But I'm definitely gonna check it out,
yeah man.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
And you know it's it's it's it's it's it's it's.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
The love that we give, you know when one of
our one of the like ongoing jokes on the internet.
And but it's something that we do as a culture
is that we black people, we are inherently welcoming, you know.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
That's why we always invite people to the cookout. And
that person's invited to the.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Cookout and they do something crazy and we're like, we
gotta rescind that invite.

Speaker 1 (46:23):
You can't come.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
But if that so, it's like then so it at
at these spaces because everybody knows that like being a nerd,
you've been socially outcasting for the longest. So in this place,
we hyping you up, you know what I'm saying. And
that's what that's what I love about it. I love
seeing Michael B. Jordan tapp into his nerd side and
Meg the Stallion tap into her anime side, and like

(46:48):
you're seeing all these people just saying, like, you know what,
I am a nerd.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
You know what I'm saying. I like comic books. I
like anime man because it is that it's like, yo,
we didn't have to grow out of it.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
It's not childish obviolusly some of these things have really
more adult themes as well, but it's like, yeah, you
can find something everywhere.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
You can find your space in our world there, yeah yeah,
yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
All right, So a couple of more segments that we'll
get you out of here. Now.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
I like to have fun, and we have what we
call geek set hypotheticals. Right, So I'm gonna ask you
it's a two part question. The first question is we're
gonna talk about apocalyptic scenarios, right, and I want to
ask you which apocalyptic scenario do you give yourself the.

Speaker 1 (47:34):
Best chance of surviving.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
We have the zombie apocalypse, the alien apocalypse, or the
robot apocalypse.

Speaker 3 (47:43):
Oh man, okay, okay, okay, okay, because the robots man,
we'd all take out. They could tappen anywhere I put
that movie on. I robot really should. Oh no, But
the zombies gonna be talking about because there's some zombies
that like you need these well, ye, aliens they just

(48:04):
more high tech. I think I can get back. No,
I get back, get I get some aliens, get back aliens.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
All right, So now there's three tiers of aliens. So
the first aliens is the Mars attack aliens.

Speaker 3 (48:25):
How do you.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
So those are the ones, the little green guys. You
know what I'm saying. They may got the ray gun.
Like you know, how's how's your head? You said you
got those hands? And also but like how do you
how do you see yourself?

Speaker 3 (48:36):
Fair?

Speaker 2 (48:36):
And if we have to put it in years, how
many years you're giving yourself with the Mars attacks I'm giving.

Speaker 3 (48:42):
See, I'm a built. What I'm gonna do is I'm
gonna build. Not only have I have my weapons, but
I'm gonna build like some some fish that like have
some like little little little powers. So like when I
hit you, I'm dropping you too. It's not just gonna
be a punch. It's like he's like boom, like they
handed you know because sometimes you know they gonna get
a little closer on you just bomb drop them, you know. So, uh,

(49:04):
that's you said, that's the first one of the first wave.
Give myself get we go, We'll go, We'll go. This
is the first wave of aliens, right Yeah, it's the
first way. Man, we're gonna we're gonna be We're gonna
be there, solid tan. We'll be able to that.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
We'll all right, yeah, all right, So the next way,
the next wave is going to be the the uh
Independence Day Aliens. So now those are the ones ship mainly.
How comfortable Now listen, you was in top Gune. How
comfortable are you flying?

Speaker 1 (49:33):
And in that aerial battle?

Speaker 3 (49:35):
The aerial battle scares me? Now, okay, aerial battle scared
because it's just you know, it's man. You in the air.
Is just too many, too many variables going on in
the air. Get ship go down. Ah, man, I'm getting
and I don't know who my partners are. Yeah who
I got this attagged with me. So we're gonna dwindle

(49:57):
this down. Man, it's gonna be about It's gonna gonna
be about three. Okay, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (50:06):
Now this last one is the one that usually gets
a lot of people because this is a little bit
more scary. But we gotta go to Xeno morphs. We
gotta go the traditional aliens franchise. You are stuck on
the ship. Now you do still have the heavy artillery
like they have on the ship.

Speaker 1 (50:20):
Okay, okay, you got but you gotta you gotta fight
off those Zeno morphs.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
That's too real. Man. I wanted to be I want
to I'm optimistic and believe I'm gonna say, we're gonna
we're just gonna get through. It's gonna be there's gonna
be a lot of casualties. There's gonna be a lot
of casualties. We canna say we'll probably get a year
because they still gonna have to read. Were just gonna
give it a year.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
So the two things.

Speaker 2 (50:55):
And you know what, I've been saying this a lot
on on with my interviews, and I'm gonna change it soon.
So my my, my biggest concern with any apocalyptic scenario
is I haven't had an opportunity to test my skill set, right, Like,
I believe I can make fire, but I don't. I
never really had an opportunity to make fire, so I.

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Don't know I can make fire under pressure. It's a
pressure that you're about to die. So how do I
get this thing going? And you like the thing, You're
confident and cool, but then you think about you know, see,
that's that's another variable too. Yep, A lot of us
are not working with our hands as much as say
previous generations. Yeah, you know what I mean, whether it's building,

(51:36):
you know, creating all that stuff. So then you factor
in the pressure of als coming after you. Goin to die. Man,
we might have to knock off some time. So I'm
I said ten years from one, we might drop that
to like five, three years for another that's a year
and a half. And for the year when I said
six months, because somebody's gonna die.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
A lot of the times when we go to conventions,
a game that we like to do when we have
like a room that they'll give us panels and everything
like that, because you gotta think what a lot of
the times when apocalyptic scenario hits, the people that you
are right there, that becomes your crew.

Speaker 1 (52:08):
That's your new crew.

Speaker 3 (52:09):
That's what I said earlier.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
I said, so a good game to play next time
you're on set or something like that, just throw out
the scenario, all right, apocalypse hit, all right, because then
you gotta then you gotta you gotta survey the people.
You gotta be okay, who knows how to do medical stuff,
because like I want to, I want to gauge our
chances of surviving from this point.

Speaker 1 (52:31):
So it's like you won't set us, you won't set
a sistance, and you gotta make it through.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
We take it on the apocalypse. I'm very very confident
we take it on, we take it on. Whatever aliens
come through, zombie or whatever. I got a good group
of men and women were gonna do it. I feel
very confident with us.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
That's what you got. You gotta you gotta base it
off of that, because you gotta figure out.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
You get one of them on your podcast to the
same thing, I'll be like, we be all right, we'll
figure it out.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
Because that's always you gotta think, like, Okay, who who
good at cooking? Who good at like like harvesting food,
Who's a good hunter? Who like if somebody gets hurt?
Who knows medical stuff? Like? You gotta you gotta start
gauging your your crew. Yeah, out, you gotta rebuild. You
gotta rebuild. You gotta rebuild.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
You have to. You have to.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
Yeah, we got them. Yeah, you know it's crazy because
I do. I do enjoy those type of those type
of movies, you know what I mean, those populous scenarios,
and you're just like, man, what what happened that that
that I went down? And you're right, whatever group you're with,
excuse that becomes your team, you know, So I gotta
figure it out. That's scary, man, it is, man, it is.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
It's super scary, all right. So the last segment, we
want to do quick top five now. So the caveat
that I get from my top five is it doesn't
have to be in order, and it can be currently
right now because I know certain.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
Top five change.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
So I know that you are a huge football fan,
like you said, Saturdays and Sundays, you and your group chat,
y'all just pretty much watch and y'all just chop it up.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
So I need to get I need to get your
top five NFL players.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
Who oh man, man, we're talking about current or just
just well back, let's do.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
Let's do all time for you.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
I like to do all time, but it could be
your currently top five all time, right, so like if
it changes later on like that way you people get
be like, oh you said that before, Like this is
currently how you're feeling your top five.

Speaker 3 (54:32):
Yeah, I'm first of all premise I'm a big Cowboys fan.
So yeah, yeah, big fan. We're gonna figure it out.
We're gonna figure it out. We just will. Uh. Deon
Sanders one of.

Speaker 1 (54:45):
My favorite, my favorite player of all time.

Speaker 3 (54:48):
Swag, confidence, just what he brings to a team. Like
there is a thing about when you get certain guys
that when you be like I'm taking the field, I
got this guy with me. Oh it's all you know
what I mean. Yeah, so I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go, Dion.
I love Randy Moss. I love Randy Moss, and they
just just one of the best players.

Speaker 1 (55:09):
He's just annoyingly good. It's like if he's not on
your team, you're like, why is he so good?

Speaker 3 (55:15):
Yeah, like yeah, that's how because like like because the
Cows were supposed to draft him and then we passed
on him. Yeah. I just remember when he came back
that day and then they lit us up. It's like
three four hundred and something, three touchdowns. But I just
remember watching just watching him through his career. Just he
was incredible. Barry Sanders, I just man, I couldn't move
like that, but like always like if you just made

(55:37):
a cut, you just felt like you were just you know,
moving like like, so Barry Sanders was just was was incredible. Gosh,
I'm gonna started leaning towards receivers. Terrell Owens. He was
just a monster. Again. I wasn't like six for and everything,
but those guys were everything. This one's tough. This one

(56:01):
was tough. This one's tough. That's three. I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go. Even though he's an Eagle. I love
Brian Dawkins the Eagles. He was just a mom just
taking guys heads off.

Speaker 4 (56:17):
Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
Man, who am I gonna you know right now? I
love Ah, I love Lamar Jackson, I love I love
love Yeah, I love them. I love watching him play ball.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
Man.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
I just I think he's just this new wave of
QB that are coming in. I can throw the ball,
run the ball. Obviously, he's dynamic with the ball in mans.
I don't think he gets enough credit for what he
can do throwing the ball. And I think I think
that his best years are just getting ready to start going.
Even though people think you run the ball, I think
he can really sling that in that rock. So yeah,

(56:54):
thats five.

Speaker 1 (56:55):
Yeah, that's fine, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (56:56):
Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, that's fine. That's five. Yeah. Because
I have I have my old school, I have my
old I still love my Troy Man, you know, ye gods.
But then there's this new way in the classic coming
in that I'm just.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
I love I love all right, So one one last
top five because you love your superhero movies.

Speaker 1 (57:15):
We talked about d C. We talked about what's your
top five superhero movies?

Speaker 3 (57:21):
Okay, okay, here we go. We're gonna go. We're gonna
go Dark Knight with the Joker.

Speaker 1 (57:27):
Okay, that's my that's my man.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
I just I love that. Gonna be a little biased here,
but I'm gonna just throw that in there, regardless, Dark Knight,
Dane uh Captain America Civil War. It was so good,
so good. Oh man, no particular order right, just no

(57:55):
Man of Steel man that Oh my god, I do
a certain type of way with him. Not man, I was,
I was, I was. I'm talking about pacing around my
house when I first news Bro was just like I'm
waiting on I'm looking at tweets, wait for somebody. I

(58:16):
couldn't even believe it. Oh fine, fine, fine, last one.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
Uh man.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Uh that's tough. That's tough. That's tough. There's like there's
like there's like there's a few of them that are
just teetering right there, and I'm like, do I want
to put you over there? Because I did enjoy Spider Man,
I did enjoy I actually want one of those people
that did enjoy Age of old Tron.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
Me too, me too.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
You know, I tell people I've been telling people, like
because a lot of people now are appreciating age of
old Tron, I said, that's gonna be a Turtles Eternals
right now.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
I hated Turtles five years.

Speaker 3 (59:01):
I didn't watch that gonna appreciate it. You're gonna appreciate it.
But I threw my I'll do my last one. I'm
gonna say Infinity War, Silid, Silent War, Black Panther, e Turnles,
yea spider Man, those are all. They were all peetering.
But those ones that the first of those ones I listed.
I just I did the feeling that I got when

(59:21):
I watched them.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
Bro like bro legit.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
Man.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
The theater was dead silent at the end because remember
there was there was no post or end credit scene.

Speaker 1 (59:33):
They disappeared in Infinity War and then it was done,
and everybody was like, wait, is that it the lights?

Speaker 3 (59:41):
What? Like? Did we lose?

Speaker 1 (59:43):
We lost?

Speaker 3 (59:44):
Crazy? Can I do a sixth one? That honorable? Wasn't MARBC?
Did you watch X Man Days the Future Past? Of
course I did? Man, that was that was That's my
that was my lunching in there inst Marvel DC but
I just can't. I can't forget about that one because

(01:00:05):
I you know, I love the Mutants, I love X Men.
Obviously I want to be either europe Mutant whatever. But
that movie I remember because that that movie started off
with guys getting the mutants getting killed, and I was like, hey, yo, wait,
hold on, they just just it was it was it
was actually scary. Like the music, the score, like you know,

(01:00:25):
the writing was great, but when you when the Sentinels
came in, you can hear the ships coming and you
can hear them drop, You're just like this, these guys
are not gonna make it. I always like, I think
that's why I said, I said I leaned towards these
movies a little more grounded because you can make it
feel like, hey, he might not get through this. That's
when you get the audience on the edge of their seats,

(01:00:47):
you know what I mean, where there's like true storytelling
right there, where the villain it's not just some campy
monster feeling where it's just like, Okay, they're gonna beat him.
It's like this guy might you know, defeat are are
quote unquote here like the Joker, like Bang when Bang
beat the brakes off of Batman. I was, yeah, and
the writing is like these guys will write it in

(01:01:08):
a sense where you know, you might not know the
hero is gonna come out of it at the end.

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
You know, he broke his bag. You're like, yeah, you
like Batman got his back broken.

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Like wait a minute, hold up, hey, So I'm gonna
give you I'm gonna give you a jim because so obviously,
like I said, you're a very busy guy, you know,
with your you know, with your workout regimen and everything
like that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
If you ever want to get back into comic books, right,
but you don't have.

Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
The time to sit down and read it, there's a
YouTube channel called Comic Story in I don't know if
you're familiar.

Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
With it Storian.

Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
What he does is he dramatically reads comic books, so
like you can put it on YouTube and just listen
to it because and what makes it such a dope
up channel is is that because he dramatically reads it,
you are able to get into it like you listen
to an audio graphic book, right, and so like he's
changing his voice for the Joker Batman. But because and

(01:02:00):
the reason why I say that is if you like
Affinity War. That comic book run of Affinity War is
way more real, like like you really get your heart
taking right out of your body on there, right. And
so I would say, like, if you ever get a
chance to and you're like, you know what I'm gonna
work out, I'm not going to listen to music that
I want to catch up on some comic book stuff
throwing that channel, and he puts them in playlists, so

(01:02:21):
like you could be like, you know what I want
to learn.

Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
I want to catch up on what Black Panther is
really doing in the comic books.

Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
And you can go to a Black Panther playlist and
hit play and just listen to it, and he going
through these storylines in depth, reading the panels, and you
really get brought into that comic book world. It's an
easy way to get back into comic books until you're
able to get back down and start sitting down and
reading them.

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
That's that's what I appreciate that because one of the
things I've been trying to do is dive into is
seeing more of the black comic book superheroes or whatever,
because I'm trying to find because it's you know, everyone
we've touched on it earlier, and I'm not super verse
and still like diving in as far as which one
I want to play, because I remember I was sitting
there and my brother asked me, said, you know what,
what Black you know, hero hero or Bielin would you

(01:03:03):
want to bring to life? And I was like, and
the cliche or what out? There's just a green lantern,
you know what i mean. But when what Black Panther brought,
you know, it just gave you an intro to a
few other you know, characters. And then I sat back
and I was like, hold on, there's more of these
guys that haven't been brought to life yet. And I said, well,

(01:03:24):
you know, if Greenlands don't, you know, go my way cool,
because I'm a Robert down and Juior this. I'm gonna
bring ab Scirit character and makeing a prime time you
know what I mean. And the more I think about it,
the more I'm just sitting there like, I think that's
kind of where I'm leaning towards bringing someone else, you know,
and bringing him, bringing bring that person to life. So

(01:03:44):
slowly there's a whole bunch. There's a whole bunch man.
So yeah, that's for me. Prodigy different characters like that.
I've just been like all right and they see if
I can oh one, I feel like I gravitate too.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Another dope documentary. If you haven't got a chance to
watch Milestone Generations. It's pretty so you know the creator
of Static Shock, you know Milestone Comics. Yeah, they got
a documentary i'll called My Milestone Generations, which is narrated
by method Man and you know method Man, huge comic
book head. But he talks about all those black characters

(01:04:17):
in that black collective who started Milestone and everything that
they was trying to create. But also again listen, hey
bro utilize me. I followed you with all social media.
If you ever, if you ever need to know a
Yo deuces and what black character should I look into?

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Bro?

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
I got you, And like I said, I I interviewed
jay Ellis And what was dope? Was jay Ellis like
another character that they haven't DC. I mean that they
haven't introduced yet. It's called Blue Marvel and it's a
black character and everything like that. Yeah, and so he's
heavily interested in that. But it's like, yeah, bro, like
that's my whole goal is to like I said, the

(01:04:53):
clips that I use on these promo is going to
be a lot of the clips of me you're talking.

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
About, Hey, Chadel, ready for this? See ready for that?

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
Because my one of my favorite interviews and the reason
why I love this platform, and will wrap up the
reason why I love this platform is I get to
talk to people who have these aspirations in nerd culture.
But we haven't had that yet. When I spoke with
Osha Jackson Jr. He wanted to be the Kevin Figey
of video game movies. He said that he loves video

(01:05:19):
games so much, but these movies are not being taken
serious and I want to bring that level of seriousness
to it, you know. And then you get to see
him being stuff like Godzilla and Star Wars and it's
like he's living that blurred dream and he's getting a
step closer doing what he wants to do. And it
was like, so, it's like, I love having that conversation
because he never talked about that anywhere else but on
my platform. Jael has never talked about Blue Marvel on

(01:05:42):
my but on my platform, and that yeah, so yeah, man,
So where can my people find you at and what
do you need them to support you on?

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
Shoot, well, first on social media right now on Instagram,
Twitter platforms, just up today, whatever, just won my life,
different projects and everything coming up at yu A underscore.
I'm Cheetoh letter is Ler m c h I d oh.
Tune in Wednesday nights. Please tune in Wednesday nights. Continue
to watch Sisters on BT. Please continue to watch. Even

(01:06:17):
though you know I'm not really not really your favorite character.
We're still good.

Speaker 1 (01:06:24):
Running on being live.

Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
I can't. I can't change you. You get on my nerves.
I'd be like, hey, it's just a character. But obviously
just fortunate enough to be on other projects this past year,
whether it be a Top Gun moving on Amazon producs,
something from Tiffany's another movie on Amazon and Apple TV
called Seven Faces of Jane. I mean, I'm filming in Hawaii,

(01:06:47):
Magnum p I right now, so oh yeah yeah yeah yeah,
so yeah. That's why I was bouncing back and forth
time to reschedule everything. I was like, I'm all, say,
you know, you set your time for one thing, and
every schedule your just like.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Yeah, I understand. So I'm very patient, you know patient.
One thing about this industry is patience pays off. You
know what I'm saying I've seen a lot of people
shoot theirselves in the foot where like you said your scenario,
You're like, oh, I got to reschedule that. They on
Twitter blast you. Oh my god, you don't want to
talk to me. I'm like, bro, that's not you never
gonna get interviews and ever again.

Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I literally like I was like I
told him, I was like, set it up for this
time because I'm lying, I'm flying back home. I got
like a day or two here and I'm gonna fly
back to a wife. Yeah. So it's like it's a lot,
but yeah, I'm super glad. I can't wait to do
this again because you're gotta get my comic book bearing
and my anime anime game up, and I'm excited to
because I've definitely been trying to, like, you know, it's

(01:07:41):
hard when you're doing it on your own, you know,
but people are real worse in this world. And they're like, hey,
I can navigate you, you know, Itt'll help you navigate
this a little better, show you what you can look at.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, give me, because I remember I
think I went down a rabbit hole one night. I
was up to like two am just clicking on different
like black characters and stuff, and I'm like, oh, doctor Voodoo,

(01:08:02):
this person, yeah, who Prodigy, Who's this? Who's this? I
was just like going up, man, I was like and
then reading their attributes and stuff like that, I'm like, well,
who do I relate to? Body type? When I fit?
You know?

Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
And it was it was.

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
It was fun to doing that with commutings and stuff
as well. So it excites me, man, because I just
I love this world again. Like I said, you doing
movies and TV forever, you know, playing a detective or whatever.
I have dream worlds and that. But I gotta do this.
I gotta be I gotta be a part of this world. Man.
I gotta break something life.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
So all right, man, Well this has been one on
one with Deuces. I've been your boy, Deuces. This has
been the amazingly talented to super dope Cheeto. I'm gonna
sit here, coach, and we are our team

Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Take the past.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
