Speaker 1 (00:03):
Kalaruka Shok Media. Hey there, I'm Johnny Mack with five
good news stories. On July twenty second, Ozzy Osbourne passed away.
On that same day, at the Safari West, a healthy
male Southern white rhinoceros was born. They named it Ozzi.
(00:23):
Ozzi is the younger sibling of Otto, who was born
at Safari West in April of twenty three. Their Motherisha,
is a twenty year old Southern white rhino. Dad is Angava,
a twenty nine year old Southern White rhino who resides
at Safari West. Doctor Nancy Lang is the founder and
conservation director, and said every rhino birth inspires hope and
underscores the importance of protecting these extraordinary animals. Were honored
(00:45):
to care for this calf and grateful for the collaborative
partnership that made this birth possible. Hi. There are two
Australian dudes, Nick and Lucas. They're hanging out one day,
They're looking at a washing machine. They think themselves, hey,
what if we put the washing machine in a van.
Now most people would be like that's a terrible idea,
but not these guys. They went ahead and did it
and created Orange Sky. The world's first mobile laundry van
(01:09):
for people experiencing homelessness. They drive around Australia armed with
the washing machines and a couple chairs, and they deliver
free mobile laundry. Isn't that cool? Ten years later, Orange
Sky has a bunch of vans and laundry machines. They've
washed over a four and a half million kilograms of
laundry and delivered over fifty thousand warm, safe showers. It
(01:30):
has now expanded into the Global Laundry Alliance without posting Greece,
the US, Norway and the UK. Nice job fellas. In Indiana,
a sunflower has unofficially become a world record breaker. The
sunflower is I'm not misspeaking here. Okay, this is how
tall the sunflower is? Thirty feet seven inches tall. The
(01:52):
sunflowers named Clover. It has unofficially beaten the previous record
of thirty feet one inch. It has already in the
US record at twenty six feet eight inches. The city
of Fort Wayne supported the sunflower efforts by giving Alex
a cherry picker to protect Clover the sunflower from squirrels.
(02:12):
He told local TV, We've been here thirty years. We
absolutely love Fort Wayne, We have a lot of friends here,
family here. Everybody's been so supportive in this town. It's
been really cool, and honestly, everybody's support is what's been
pushing us to push this plant. In Pittsburgh, a man
and a mysterious dog teamed up to save two unconscious individuals.
Gary was playing with his own dog in the park
and then a pit bull showed up. The pit bull
(02:34):
didn't seem to have a human with it and was
making a plea for attention. Gary says he'd get just
close enough where was out of arms reach, and he'd
bark and turn and run a few steps and then
turned back around. Something put the idea in my head
very strongly that this dog wanted me to follow him,
so I did. The pit bull took him down a secluded,
overgrown path to a tint encampment where he found a
(02:54):
pair of unresponsive bodies. That's scary. Gary says, At first
I just saw the one and him. Then I tried
to get his attention to wag him up, but he
was completely unresponsibut, even if his breathing or not. And
I turned around and saw a pair of legs sticking
out of ten I tried to shake him, and it
was a woman who wouldn't respond to me either. Gary
called nine one one dispatcher showed up. Gary told the
story on Facebook. A commenter reached out, saying she was
(03:15):
the woman and she'd like to meet him. Gary responded, sure,
would love to and let her know that the dog,
which he had been fostering while the parent were in
the hospital, was waiting for her. Gary said, it's an
honor for me to take care of this guy until
his humans are well enough to reunite with a dog
that loves them very much. And it's a five Good
News Stories trope story. Yes, good news, we found your parakeet.
(03:37):
It's one hundred miles away, but we found it. Ramby,
the seven year old large green Alexandrine parakeet had never
left home before. Somebody left the cage open during a barbecue.
Off goes Ramby. The family looked around in the neighborhood.
No parakeet, the owner said, because he's never really flown
before other than around the house, with thought it had
(03:58):
been nearby. We went to bed that night devastated. We
searched every street, knocked on every neighbor's door, put posters up,
contacted every vat shop, everything you can think of. Then
they get a call from the animal charity Wildlife and
Need saying they'd found a parakeet. Even the charity was like,
it's probably not the right bird because it's kind of far,
(04:18):
but the number on Ramby's ankle tag matched. Now did
the bird fly one hundred miles? Experts think the bird
may have hitched a ride in or on someone's car.
The family said, we don't understand how he got there.
He traveled over one hundred miles in the space of
six days. That's unheard of. The only way we'll find
out what happens is if he tells us at some point,
(04:39):
because he does talk. Gotta love this story. Those are
