As a fisherman with decades of experience, I've seen a lot of mysterious things

(00:51):
my time at sea, but nothingcould have prepared me for what I saw
off the coast of Block Island.Rhode Island was typical summer day in twenty
nineteen and I was out of myboat early in the morning, hoping to
catch some stripe at bass. Thewater was calm and I saw the occasional
dolphin swim by. After being outthere for thirty or forty minutes, I

(01:15):
saw something in the distance. Atfirst glance, I thought it was a
whale, but as I got closerI realized it was something much bigger.
There in the water was a massivecreature, easily over sixty feet long.
It looked a lot like a graywhite shock, but I had never seen

(01:38):
one near the size. Soon Irealized it had to be a megalodon,
prehistoric shock, thought to be extinctfor millions of years. I couldn't believe
my eyes. I had heard storiesof the creatures, but I never imagined
I would see one in person.I stood there, frozen in awe,

(02:00):
watching the massive animals swim around inthe water. Then I noticed a pot
of bottlenose dolphins swimming nearby, andthe megalodon was hunting them. The dolphins
was swimming as fast as they could, but megalodon was gaining on them.
I knew that if the megalodon caughtthe dolphins, it would be a gruesome

(02:20):
sight. I didn't want to watch, but I couldn't look away. It
wasn't long before the megalodon closed in, and I watched in horror as the
megalodon lunged at the dolphins, catchingone between its jaws. A massive shark
thrashed violently, looking like a blurin the water. After swallowing the prey

(02:40):
and the dolphins leaped out of thewater repeatedly. I could see the fear
in their eyes as they tried toevade the predator. Suddenly I felt the
urge to do something to help thedolphins. I knew my boat was no
match for the megalodon, but Icouldn't just stand by and watch the mammals
get torn to shreds. I carefullysteered my boat towards the dolphins, which

(03:04):
started to create a disturbance in thewater. I hope the noise and turbulence
would distract the prehistoric shock long enoughfor the dolphins to escape. To my
relief, it worked. Megalodon becamedistracted by the commotion, and the dolphins
managed to get away. After themegalodon had disappeared, I made my way
back to shore. I was stillin shock from what I'd seen. I'd

(03:30):
always known the ocean was full ofdanger, but I never realized how much.
I reported the incident to the authorities, but they were skeptical. They
didn't believe a megalodon could still bealive, and they thought I'd just seen
a larger than average white shock. But I knew what I'd seen and would
never forget it. I felt thenewfound respect for the ocean and its inhabitants.

(03:54):
I knew I'd always be cautious whenout in the water and never underestimate
nature's power. Ultimately, the experienceleft me with a sense of awe and
munda I'd witnessed something remarkable that fewpeople would ever have the chance to see.
While it had been beyond terrifying, was also one of my life's most

(04:15):
incredible moments. Submitted by Rick Marsden, this has been five minute frights compiled
