the early nineties, I was homelessfor a few years and spend a lot

(00:53):
of time sleeping in the subways inNew York City. It was cold and
dirty, when it was better thanbeing on the street if you could manage
it without getting caught by the police. One night, I was sleeping on
the tracks when I woke up toa strange noise. It sounded like someone
was crying. I sat up andlistened, but I didn't hear anything else.

(01:19):
I closed my eyes and tried togo back to sleep, but the
noise kept coming back, and Istarted to feel like someone was watching me.
You could never be too sure thatthere wasn't some psycho nearby looking to
harm you. And I finally gotup and walked over to the edge of
the tracks and peered into the darkness, but I couldn't see anything. The

(01:45):
noise came again, this time itwas closer. I started to feel very
uneasy. I didn't know what wasmaking the noise, but I knew it
wasn't good. I'm back away fromthe edge of the tracks and turned to
run, but then I saw it. It was a figure standing near the

(02:08):
tunnel wall. It was oddly talland thin, and appeared to be wearing
a skin tight all black outfit. The figure didn't move for a while,
and I even wondered if it wasa mannequin, and just stood there and

(02:29):
soon started crying again. I wasdevastated. I couldn't move or speak.
I just stood there, staring atthe figure, utterly unsure how to react.
My instincts told me not to goany closer. Perhaps the crying was

(02:50):
fake and merely a trap to drawme in. After a few moments,
the figure turned walked away. Itwas too peculiar to describe, for I've
never seen a human walk the sameway. What long before it disappeared into
the darkness of the tunnel. Inever saw it again, but I'll never

(03:14):
forget it. I still don't knowwhat it was, but it had to
be something from a different world.I'm unsure why I saw it, but
in a sense, I was luckyI did. Let's just say I was
able to get back on my feetafter that creepy night. I cleaned up

(03:37):
my act, weaned off some badhabits, and never slept on the streets
again. Maybe it was the pointof its appearance, or perhaps it was
just trying to say hello. Idon't know, but I'll never forget that
night. I've thought about that incidenta lot throughout my life. I've tried

(03:59):
to figure out I would have meant, but never found a definitive answer.
Is there a chance it could havebeen a guardian angel? If so,
I understand why some say there's someof the creepiest looking entities in existence.
Some might assume I imagined it,but I know I didn't. I saw

(04:21):
it too clearly. There were timeswhen I considered returning to the subway tracks,
hoping to obtain some clues, butfear always gotten away. So I
just tried to accept that I'll neverknow for sure what I saw. The
encounter is always in the back ofmy mind. I don't know what it

(04:45):
was, but I'll never forget it. Submitted by anonymous. This has been
