Five Minute Frights is titled The HunchbackTribe. I was just ten years old
when I saw and I was playingnear the crop field my family's farm and

Animos, Iowa. It was abeautiful autumn day and I was enjoying what
was likely one of the last warmevenings of the year. I'd been climbing
trees and wandering the land for hourswithout knowing what approached. I remember I
was searching for a new stick strongenough to turn into a slingshot when I

saw them up ahead. It wasa group of individuals walking in a near
perfect line. They were round theheight of an average man, but substantially
wider. Their skin was gray andwrinkled, and their backs were hunched.

(01:36):
Their faces were also much broader thanan average humans. As they got closer,
I noticed they weren't wearing clothes.They were covered with hair. I
was terrified. I had never seenanything like them before, not even on
TV. The creatures walked past mylocation without acknowledging me. As far as

(02:00):
I could tell, they didn't evenglance in my direction. I watched them
as they walked away, seemingly relaxed. Immediately, I knew I had just
seen something that few others get to. After the creatures left, I snuck
back to my house. I wantedto be as discreet as possible, since

(02:23):
I couldn't be sure the hunchbacks weren'tstill around. I told my parents,
and my dad went outside to look, probably worried that I'd seen a gang
of trespassers. When he returned inside, he mentioned he'd found some odd looking
footprints, but nothing more. Inever saw the creatures again, but I'll

(02:46):
never forget them. I still havenightmares about them sometimes. I don't know
what they were, but I knowthey were real. I've tried to research
them, but I haven't found anything. There are no reports about hunchback human
like beasts. The closest stories Ifind always involve sasquatch sightings. I guess

(03:13):
that may be what I could haveseen. I often watched the crop field
from inside our house, hoping tosee the creatures again, but no luck.
I'm not crazy. I know whatI saw, and I'm not gonna
let anyone tell me otherwise. I'vethought about those creatures a lot, and

(03:35):
I believe I spotted them during migration. If I remember correctly, they were
headed south. I'm will start bytalking to more people who have had strange
encounters, and maybe that'll lead meto some answers. Perhaps I can find
some clues that will help me figureout what the creatures are. Ever since
I started reading your books, Tom, I've been determined to learn more about

what I saw all those years ago. I need to know what the creatures
are and where they live, andI want to know if they're dangerous.
