Speaker 1 (00:06):
What we've got here is failure.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Your milkkee.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Working audio is like flying a helicopter, and I don't
fucking know how to fly helicopters.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Are you crying?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
There's no crying.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
There's a crying baseball.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Strap on your cleats, Buckle up for a wild ride
around the diamond of deception.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Welcome to the six four three Conspiracy where we've swing
from the.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Truth and not conspiracy theories out of the park.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Looking back, everybody to the six fourth three Conspiracy Podcast.
We got a lot to get into, so we're just
gonna jump straight into it. We're gonna skip all the
housekeeping stuff today. Gavin, what's up, bro? It's no buddy man,
Just trying to really wrap my head around what's what's
unfolded these last forty eight hours. Got a lot to

(01:21):
talk about tonight. I think we should just start with
the obvious. You know, this whole if a Masa horror situation.
It's wild. With Shoe hal Tani and his translator, it is, yeah, man, insane,
what's going on? And before we start speculating on it

(01:47):
just too awful much. I'm gonna share my screen right,
We're gonna play a quick We're gonna play quick little
clip just to let the listeners and say something here
that you or I'm not familiar with, So we're gonna
play this.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Got even more news that this entire time, show Hey
Otani might have been fixing his own games. So if
you go to any news outlet, there will be a
story running saying his interpreter was over four million dollars
in debt, and show Hey, being the gracious man that
he is, covered for him. But it might have been
Otani this entire time. This Twitter user posted a pretty
hefty thread with multiple examples of big bats correlating to

(02:31):
poor performances by show Hay, and it might just be
the case that his interpreter has been defaull guide this
entire time.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
We just got even more news that, so this is
a little dated that was from yesterday. Since then, we've
had a uh presser by show Hey, if you want
to call it a press conference. It was really just
him given a very lawyered, uh thirty second ted talk

(03:00):
really and just getting on down. So the gist of
this whole thing is last Monday, after game one of
the Dodgers Padre series in Soul, Korea, apparently Ipei, the

(03:20):
translator for Otani, comes out and has a meeting with
the team, saying, hey, that all this stuff's about to
come out in the news, YadA, YadA. And what's come
out in the news is that it money from Otani
has gone to an illegal bookie in Orange County. And

(03:44):
at first glance, Ipei appears to be the fall guy.
But we have had the MLB saying that show Hey
wasn't going to be investigated, to now he is going
to be investigated, to the FBI getting involved. You've got
serious implications not just for show Hay, not just for

(04:06):
the Dodgers, but for the inspire entity that is Major
League Baseball. This is a real like, this isn't just
some you know, random thing that happened like yep. And
for Otani and his press or, I was trying to

(04:26):
get a clip of that. But in his press conference yesterday,
he said that if they stole the money from him,
and for him to publicly say that, especially having attorneys
already work, you know, telling him what to say, like

(04:47):
that's that's that's that has some serious potential to blow
back on him. If that's not the case, like he
could be you.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Know, charge it could be possibly done.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I mean, it's this is wild, Gavin.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, Hank, I know this is a six or four conspiracy.
So I know we haven't talked about conspiracies and sports show.
Let's get into a conspiracy, shall we. I mean, okay,
first and foremost for any of our listeners, I don't
know in California betting in general, where it's sports betting,
betting and other stuff, it's completely illegal.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
He cannot do it.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
No if butts and it's if he happens, you can
get a lot of trouble. And on top of that,
it just doesn't make sense right because we've had news
media from if people don't know the name Sam Blum,
Angels media writer, I'm pretty sure Corey will know this guy.

(05:45):
He made a statement in one of his articles saying
that when he went and asked all the Angels players
about this, and they've all said multiple hey didn't see
him in you know, he really cared for sports, Da
da da da, this and that. But it makes you
wonder man, because we've seen Otani in football gear, basketball

(06:06):
gear all you know, Baltimore Ravens for football, he was
seventy six ers with Trout and it just it seems
like it's a cover up.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
EPA.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
His whole time with the Angels was a very kind
never gone into trouble when there was trouble with all
the issues going on with Tyler Skaggs. Rest in peace,
by the way to him, he stayed out of it
and all that stuff. He paid his respects and all that,
and it just makes you wonder, you know, Otani, given
take that he's gotten a seven hundred million dollars deal

(06:37):
and then about of money he's going with the MLB.
I personally believe he's not gonna get in trouble.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
There's gonna be no.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Suspension or like disciplinary actions towards him. I think it's
just gonna be this coyle p that EPA is doing
for him, because it just it doesn't add up, man.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
It doesn't. It doesn't at all. They're trying to say
that Otani and has had had like they're trying to
make it sound like Otani still doesn't know English. He's
been here for seven years, bro, He's been here for

(07:18):
seven years, like he knows what's going on. Like they're
trying to make it sound like Epei really didn't clarify
what exactly was going on, and Otani just being the
good guy that he is, paid off these debts, not
really knowing that they were for an illegal bookie, which,

(07:40):
let's be honest though, it was like even the just
the fact that you have two different documents from the bank,
why are transfers that went from show Hayes with his
I mean, his name's on the paper to the bookie.

(08:01):
Like that's enough to against the letter of the CBA law,
the you know, the the governing rules of the MLB.
He there's grounds for him to be immediately suspended right
this very moment, just on those two pieces of paper alone. Yep.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I mean, and it's just like, oh, are we gonna
be dumb dude, like Otani knows what's going on with
his money?

Speaker 6 (08:25):
You gotta it.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Just it doesn't it makes sense he paid his translator
and all that that's been with him for not even
just during his start of his career.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Man for MLB.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
He was there with Japan when he was getting.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Looked up in high school.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, and I just again, I just I don't know, man,
It's an interesting investigation. I mean, it also doesn't add
up to that he quote unquote didn't he stole money
from him. But yet, as you stated earlier, you know,
MLB stopped the investigator wasn't gonna do an investigation, and
then twenty four hours later we're getting mistigation going.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
Right, Let's jump into this clip right quick.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Okay, the show Aotani gambling story could get very ugly,
very quickly. If the MLB upholds their collective bargaining agreement,
Otani will be suspended immediately. There's nothing like a scandal
to open up a seven hundred million dollar contract. Otani's
longtime friend and interpreter he paid. Mitsuhara admitted to wiring

(09:25):
at least four and a half million dollars to a
Californian bookie. Now it's hard to believe, but Midsuhara claimed
he thought it was legal as long as he didn't
bet on baseball. Of course, he couldn't pay his debt,
so he total Tani, who wins a Friend of the
Year award here by personally sending millions of dollars in
wire transfers from his own account to the bookie.

Speaker 7 (09:41):
Unfortunately, the friendship award doesn't mean much to the MLB.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Otani's team figured that one out the hard way, just
as the story was about to break. Otani and Mitsuhara
got their story straight. It was a helpful act and
showe never bet on games. Fast forward just hours later
and they did a complete twenty eighty. Now they're refusing
to say Otani was being helpful and calling it a
massive theft. Somebody inside the Atani's camp realized that money
being wired to a bookie warrants and immediate suspension by

(10:04):
MLB standards. This is worst case scenario for Mitsuhara. He's
done with the Dodgers, who are paying in five hun
a k a year, and he's likely to face criminal
charges for wire fraud and embezzlement. It's also the perfect
example of star treatment. The MLB is heavily invested in Atani.
If it were any other player, they'd immediately.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
Open up an investigation.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
But even with the ridiculous story change, that's not happening here.

Speaker 7 (10:24):
I'm not saying I believe Atani is guilty of anything
other than being an elite friend.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
But if the MLB designs to uphold their CBA, this
case could get extremely sticky for show.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
Hey I'm Fred Michael Smith and that's my take.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
So here's a thing too.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
You know what right, you got it right there. This
is in all likelihood Otani probably at the end of
the day, is only guilty of having too big of
a heart, being too good of a friend. But at
the end of the day, you have rules of regulations

(10:59):
for your sport for a reason. But at the end
of the day, you're talking about a player that single
handedly brought Japan into the good graces of the MLB
for the modern day. I'm not trying to discredit any
of the star Japanese players that we've had before Otani,

(11:20):
you know, like each Heiro and Hai Deki, Matsui and
some you know, there's some others, but I don't think
any of them. Maybe each Heiro did. But Otani's stardom
is on a man. Maybe it's just because we're a
victim of the technological day and age that we're in.
But he I mean, he has the whole of Japan

(11:42):
on his back. There is not a chance in hell
Rob Manfred is going to let show hey be suspended
and or banned from the MLB.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
Yeah, I mean, there's not really much to go over.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
I mean, you should be solid the last two clips,
you know, even okay, and if even a Tony wasn't betting,
which again there's no we can't really cast any like.

Speaker 6 (12:11):
I don't think he was.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I honestly don't think he was. I think he was
just given some money thinking he was in gambling bit.
But the fact that it was to an illegal bookie
is the same as Otani betting.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Himself exactly, wanna say, Like, and at the end of
the day, being a friend or not, you're guilty by association,
you put in your you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
And it's just that's where they're trying to bring in
this whole lost in translation thing like, oh, he just
didn't understand, he didn't understand.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
I mean again, it's yeah, Rob, we've already gone over it.
Rob Man, friend's not going to get rid of his
his golden.

Speaker 6 (12:56):
Boy and all that.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I mean, let's go even, Yes, the situation are different.
Before I make this clear and all that, there's investigations
for something that's criminal too, But Trevor Bauer, Trevor Bauer's improven, innocent,
Trevor Bauer, all this stuff. If Trevor Bauer was shoe
hal Tawny, do you really think Trevor Bauer would have
you know what I mean? Because Marcel Zuna again had
these issues and all that, and there's I mean, there's
plenty of players and I'm just targeting those people.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
But the MLB cannot afford to have another situation like
it did in the eighties and early nineties where baseball
almost died. Yeah, baseball almost died. Like the kids growing
up today aren't gonna know this, but kids like you know,

(13:42):
me and you but we were kids. We were watching
the the the saving the last second hell miracle for
the MLB when steroids took over, and we didn't know
it was steroids. As kids, we were like dumne, he
just hit a five hundred foot bomb. You know, you

(14:05):
got the Great Race of ninety eight between Mark maguire
and Sammy Sosi. You've got some of the all time
greatest hitters in the world. You know, Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi,
Jose Canseco, you know, all time great pitchers, Roger Clemens.
You know, all of these guys accused of using stuff
and at the end of the day at them. I mean,

(14:30):
it just the MLB can't afford to have another black
mark or I mean, they're just now because the whole
reason that the MLB has been trying to implement all
these new rules and stuff is because the game they
don't market themselves, like there was no need to change

(14:51):
the game. All they had to do was they commercials
and hype up their own product like other sports do.
We've taught, We've had this talk before, but they don't
do that, and so they have to resort to measures
like pizza box bases and pitch clocks and stupid shit.

(15:12):
And I feel like the game suffers for it. But
apparently they're trying to speak the hype until existed, saying
that these new rule changes are helping revive the love
for baseball. They can't afford to have this. This is
the face of the league, the entire MLB, especially for

(15:35):
any Asian descent player, like not even Japanese specific, but
you're Korean players, and they're they can't they can't have
Superman die, you.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
Know, not even just Superman.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
But what team is he playing for, Hank, He's playing
for the Los Angeles Dodgers and.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
One of the most stories organizations in baseball.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
And what happened a couple of years ago. They got
one of the best pitchers inside the game of baseball
in his prime and he got in trouble for some stuff.
It's just it's not even a good look for the Dodgers.
I don't know, like the Dodgers can afford to have
this issue because you just gave and not Let's let's
talk about the logistics. Otani is the highest paid Northern

(16:23):
American player in the history of sports, and not even
a year in and he's he's suspended for gambling or
giving gambling their money for his friend from gambling.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Right right, Well, he's probably Otani's probably the one that
vouched so hard to get Yamamoto in there, and they
broke bread on Yamamoto and he hasn't looked hot. The
last time we spoke about Yamamoto, you remember me saying
there's a world where he gets rocked. He's been living
in that world for the last few weeks. Like I'm

(16:56):
if I'm the Dodgers, I'm worried about when his spot
comes up in the potation, I'm thinking, do you throw
him in the bullpen and let him figure it out?
And didn't you just paid all that money for a reliever, dude.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
The Dodgers themselves are very lucky that they don't have
to pay Atoni seventy million dollars this year.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
And that's the thing too. This investigation can go on
for as long as it wants. I mean we saw
Bowers' investigation go on for two years. Can you imagine
you're paying Atoni seventy million dollars with the risk of
he can get suspended for a very very long time.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
So I don't know, Henk.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
I'll be honest with you, man, not in one outcome
or possibility or sleep. Did I think that I was
gonna be talking with you on a Tuesday about Otani
possibly suspended for giving money for gambling.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
This was definitely not on my ango card.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
I mean, you can even talk maybe something with other
and other like team or Dodgers or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
I just like to ask her man is sure, Max Munsey, sure?
You know Freddy Freeman, mister obviously Freddy snapping, but show hey,
uh to quote Chris Rose from John Boy Media, you
mean to tell me the guy that has a montage

(18:20):
on YouTube of him cleaning up stadiums, that's the god,
that's the degenerate.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
I just again, you like, we talked about this earlier too, know,
I just came to my mind, it's like Otani has
literally spoke his introductory press conference in English. All of
a sudden he had to go to a complete jam
Japanese translator for this whole thing. It's just it's not
a good look, man. It's just it makes you wonder.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
It's like he's been here for seven years. Bro, he's
been here for seven years. He knows Spanish. I'm not
saying he's you know GENI know, you know, just go
sit down with with you know, anybody and speak Spanish.
But he can conversate in Spanish. Like, Otani is not stupid.

(19:10):
He's Japanese. They're smarter than any American if you ask me, Oh,
I'm not buying the the he did. He didn't understand
what was happening. I think we all know what's happening.
Is Otani did something not knowing that it was illegal.
He didn't have any council nearby to stop him if

(19:33):
they probably took advantage of him. But see, here's the
whole other thing about Ipe. He's not who he says
he is. He said that he on the on the
on the Los Angeles Angels Bio when when Otani was
still with the Angels. It said in his bio on
their on their team website that he had graduated from

(19:57):
UC Irvine. Mm hmm. They have come out you see
r find that is has said no, he did not.
We have no records of if A Masahara attending here.
He said he worked for the Boston of Red Sox.
They said, no, he didn't. He said he worked for

(20:18):
this one Japanese player back in twenty twelve for the Yankees.
The Yankees said, this gap was never on our roster.
He couldn't have been working for us.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
And that's why I think it's like.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
So like I was listening to who was I listening
to earlier? It might have been just another real on Instagram,
but I was listening and they said that you can
you can find records of him graduating high school at
this one high school in California, and then there's like
a ten in like two thousand and eight or two

(20:52):
thousand and nine, and then there's a ten year gap
until the next time you can document him is when
he meets Otani in in like twenty eighteen at an
All Star game or something. So there's like a whole
ten year gap where nobody can document with documentation prove

(21:15):
what this dude did where he was Like, it kind
of begs the question where did you come from? Where
did you go? Where did you come from? Ephane Masahara,
Even though it's just a horror.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Epach doesn't even seem like we just don't get it.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
It's so confusing.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Man, I'm convinced he's like some kind of communist China
or some like jet, some ancient Japanese warrior saying his
haircut is suspect, man, that what is you doing? Baby?
Like that? That haircut that he rocks, it's gotta be

(21:57):
a wig like. He's probably some kind of Japanese warrior,
fucking special operative. He's over here on some slick shit.
Now he's done, got caught up in a four and
a half million dollar gambling Let's get real conspiracy. This
has nothing to do with gambling. He's over here on

(22:18):
some diplomatic espiona. No, but no, I just there's I
hate I hate that. I hate being where we're at
in this whole story because there's just enough to where
you can wildly speculate. There's just enough to where you

(22:42):
could have a lunch room conversation about it and it'd
be more than hate you hear about Otani, like you
could have a talk like we've been doing, but there's
not enough to definitively say this happened, and this happened
and this is going to happen.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Well, it takes what the question I was gonna ask
you never mind.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
I just their MLB is gonna slow ball this so hard.
They're trying to get into Opening Day as quick as
they can. Thursday cannot come quick enough for Rob Manford
and his team. All they want to do is get
into Opening Day, gett Tiny on the field, because once
the people see him playing baseball and hitting home runs

(23:26):
at Dodger Stadium, you'll never get him off the field.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeesh Hash I mean right now, man, I.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
Don't really have any words because it's just like.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
That's the problem, Gavin, that's the problem is we don't
know enough because they haven't given us enough. You can't
tell me by now nobody seventy two hours later that
nobody knows what's happened.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
On the man I just here, I mean it just
we all.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Know it's a cover up, Like it's okay, it's okay, MLB.
You can cover this up, like especially if Otani didn't
do anything wrong, but like, if he did something wrong,
we need to know.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
But you on top of that though, man.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Like this season hangs in the balance.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yeah, I feel bat for you.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Now.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
Oh you gotta show Tali on your team. It's probably
suspended by boil. But it's not even that, dude.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
It's just MLB is in constant, constant issues with these stuff.

Speaker 6 (24:39):
Man.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
It's like, sure, we see this a lot in no
no league is perfect.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
We see in.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
NBA of football hockey. Hockey's doing not that much, but
still hockey is an issue.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
The list goes on.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Man, I'm not gonna list obviously favorite sport, but it's
just like the mL E, man, when the most non
marketed professional organizations are having these issues left and right.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Man, I mean, just within the last handful of years,
we can count back from Otani to Wander Franco to
Julio Rius exactly.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Wander Franco was even a year and a half ago.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Yeah, that just happened. Julio Urius, the left handed pitcher
from the Dodgers that you don't hear anything about, yep,
got got wrapped up in some domestic violence charges and
he's no longer, he'll never play MLB again. Uh Marcelo Zuna,
who somehow got back in the league after being on

(25:36):
camera dragging his wife through the front yard. I mean
Bauer Bower, I mean Okay, So there's there's a handful.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Of guys Hamilton, We're we're We're not even that far
out like Josh Hamilton.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
That's what six seven years ago like for the least team.
There's just more controversy, like because you expected to football players. Man,
they get hitting the head a lot. They don't. They
don't know no better over there in football. But baseball
is supposed to be a gentleman's game, and uh, our

(26:14):
our our gentleman of the year.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Might not be that has a montage of picking up
trash from a stadium two years later is getting in
trouble for gambling issues.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Yeah, and that's that's insane.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
From the cover of the show, when you think of angels,
you think of Otani, Well, it's about our trout, but Otani.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Count I'm shocked.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Yep, who knows.

Speaker 6 (26:46):
We might see him going back to Japan.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
We will definitely keep you listeners updated as information unfolds
on this wild, wild story. But uh, we're gonna transition
away from the old O Tanti scandal. We're going to
talk about the talk about these new rule changes that
we're gonna see in the NFL this year. Big, big things,

(27:10):
little things, all kinds of things happening. As you may
or may not know, the annual NFL Meeting happened in Orlando, Florida.
This was March twenty sixth. Today is March twenty sixth,

(27:30):
So this was today.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Oh okay, so a lot of real changes today, man,
a lot of rule changes.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
So we're not going to spend just we're not going
to deep dive each one of them, but I feel
like we need to go down this list. I got
an NFL dot com article right here that listen mount.
The first one that gives us is a rule change
proposed by Detroit, and these will all be approved rule changes.
So it's proposed by Detroit. It amends Rule fifteen, Section one,

(28:00):
Article one to protect a club's ability to challenge a
third ruling following one successful challenge. So, if I'm not mistaken,
you now effectively have three challenges assuming you get your
first challenge, correct? Could you get two challenges a game? Right?

Speaker 6 (28:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:22):
So you get two challenges a game, but if you
lose the first one, then you don't have the second.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
One, right right, Okay, so.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
If you win, you get granted an extra one. Pretty
much sweet, all right?

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Next rule by Competition Committee. So that's who. It was
proposed by a Men's Rule fourteen, Section five, Article two
to allow for an enforcement of major foul by offense
prior to a change of possession in a situation where
there are fouls by both teams. Hang on, to allow

(28:55):
for an enforcement of a major foul by the offense
prior to a change of position session in a situation
where there are fouls by both teams. Uh so I'm
assuming it's like all right, So if you if you

(29:19):
have a pass play that gets intercepted and there's a
fact like a there's holding holding holding on the offense
and pass interference on the defense, if there were maybe
a tertiary penalty that was called by the officiating crew,

(29:44):
maybe it was clipping, you know, also called, they could
enforce the offensive penalty and then do the all set penalty.
If I'm reading that right, like, because you're gonna be
able to enforce a major foul prior to the change

(30:07):
of possession in a situation where there are fouls by
both teams, which is a situation where they're fouled by
fouls by both teams are offsetting penalties, change of possession
would be fumble or interceptions. So I'm reading that right.
If there were two penalties on the offense and one
on the defense, then you can enforce one of the

(30:28):
penalties on the offense and then have offsetting penalties and
the turnover. All right, yep? Cool? Who So the next
one is to include a ruling of a passer down
by contact or out of bounds before throwing a pass
as a reviewable play. Okay, so now it's gonna be

(30:54):
reviewable to see if the passer was down by contact
or of bounds before he threw the ball.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
That's gonna be a reviewable player.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Two, allow a replay review where there is clear and
obvious visual evidence that the game clock expired before any snap.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
That should have been reviewed or done.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
And here's the thing, who's gonna who Who? Who makes
up what's clear and obvious? I mean, obviously, I guess
that falls into the same question as who who who
defines what irrefutable evidence is?

Speaker 6 (31:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (31:42):
All right? So then that that's pretty you know, pretty
necessary if you if you look up on you know,
if they miss it, you know, and and they look
up on the big screen and they can see that
they got it wrong, they should be able to go
back and make that right.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
So like pretty much to also like staying in with that,
the same thing they're doing the same thing too with
roughing the passer or like any of these like big
hold roughing the passer.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
I forgot the other one.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
But like basically if it wasn't a blatant like roughing
the passer and it was a clean play, those game
officials that for what they call they're basically like in MLB,
where like you challenge a play goes to New York.
I forgot the same thing for football or not. But
pretty much they can go back and say, hey, take

(32:31):
away the penalty. It's not a penalty, dada. But you
only have a certain amount of time before that happens.
So basically, if that ball is snapped, I believe before
the officials can look at it and that that plays
dead and you're moving on to the next the rest
of the game, the rest of the game.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
So yeah, so the next rule change it says to
eliminate a potentially dangerous tackling technique. But we know that
they're referring to the hip drop tackle, and I don't
know how they're gonna be able to stop people from

(33:11):
doing that, because sometimes you don't mean to hip drop
tackle people. Sometimes you're just trying to hold on to
somebody and they're dragging you down the field, you know
what I'm saying. So schemes.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I love football, but it's turning into fole.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Man man it is. You cannot legislate safety. You just
can't do it.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
The helmet to help, yes, and I get it, but
that's the thing. You've got guys like Derrick Henry freaking
six foot four, freaking two hundred and eighty five pounds
of pure muscle, and dudes running up the middle and
all that. What what a little sick or five foot
eight or six foot two, little strawny one five pounds

(33:57):
defensive back is going to talk of that?

Speaker 6 (33:59):
How do you talk that?

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Right? You can't. Now you can't even go low, and
that was your one prayer was to go low.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
So you have to aim high, and then you're gonna
get stiffed on right in the mouth because you can't.

Speaker 4 (34:11):
So now you can't hit them high, you can't hit
them in the waist, and you can't hit them in
the knees.

Speaker 6 (34:17):
Or the ankles, can't hit them anywhere, man, you.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
Can't hit them anywhere. You can't hit them in the back,
and you can't blindside black block, So you can't do anything.
This is gonna be an offensive league only.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Well that I mean, I see that role getting ulifted, man,
because there's just there's no way you're taking away all
these techniques for these players.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Like there's just I don't know, Bunce, that's gonna be
one of the most thrown flags this year. But uh
well yeah, the next rule change I'm pretty excited about.
It was proposed by the Competition Committee and it says
it's for one year only, and it's to create a
new form of a free kick play that is designed

(35:02):
to resemble a typical scrimmage play by aligning players on
both teams closer together and restricting movement to reduce space
and speed, and it's to promote more returns permits. The
replay official automatically review whether a free kick legally touched
the ground or a receiving team player in the landing zone. Okay,

(35:27):
so it's a whole bunch ado about nothing. What this
is gonna do is, if anybody has watched the XFL,
you have both of your special teams. Instead of them
being lined up on their respective forty yard lines, you're
gonna have them lined up what is it on either
forty five or no, they're they're for the The receiving

(35:54):
team will have theirs on like the twenty or twenty five,
and the kicking team will have all of their people
except for the kicker ten yards downfield, like there's gonna
be a ten yard buffer zone. Both lines are gonna
be right there, and you're gonna have one dude returning,
or I think they might allow you to have two

(36:15):
dudes returning, but your kicker is gonna be the only
one who can move aside from the returner. And then
only when the returner catches the ball or touches the
ball can either line move. This is what they do
in the XFL. Like I said, and it's been electric

(36:37):
over there. It's actually revitalized the kickoff. I think this
will single handedly save the kickoff as a play for
the NFL. The route that they were going as of
last year, the ceremonial kickoff was all that was was
just a hoop loge. Nobody was returning kicks the days

(36:58):
of Devin Hester just making fools look stupid. We're long
none because all you had to do was take it.
Why risk getting knocked the hell out or fumbling or
any any kind of bad outcome. Why risk that when
you can just take a fair catch no matter where

(37:18):
the ball is gonna land, unless it's out of bounds,
and you can automatically get it on your twenty five
like that's it. I mean that.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
They're banning the knee and the fair catch, correct.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
I do believe that they are getting away from the
fair catch.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
I haven't games are gonna get a lot more interesting.
I think that rule is gonna get probably finalized after
this year and keeping going because we.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Got some bylaws that were approved as well. Detroit proposed
that it was amended that club it will provide clubs
and an unlimited number of designated for return transactions in
the postseason. Whatever that means. I don't know what designated

(38:11):
to designated for return means, do you, Gavin?

Speaker 1 (38:16):
I think it's designate for return, right, you said?

Speaker 4 (38:19):
So?

Speaker 1 (38:19):
That means then it's pretty much, uh, the players can
return from injury even you said, they're like, uh, you
get a certain amount when you put them on the list,
like of like the injury logs during the week, and
I believe now you only had a certain amount of
numbers and times before if they're like, for example, if
you had like three times, I think, and if you

(38:40):
put them on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday on did not play
and then they go to full participate and then you
go to did not play, that means.

Speaker 6 (38:46):
That they can't play the rest of the week.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
And I think that now you could do not play
to not play play play da da da da, And
that's all.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
It's a fair game.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Well, this next bylog kind of plays into that same
and it says each club is going to be able
to place a maximum of two players who were on
All right, let me start this over. To permit each
club to place a maximum of two players who are
placed on an applicable reserve list on the business day

(39:19):
of the final roster reduction to be designated for return.
Such players will immediately count as two of the club's
total designations.

Speaker 6 (39:31):
Okay, so they also it.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
Just sounds to me like it's all injured list stuff
like injured reserve, injured, injured, injury related.

Speaker 6 (39:42):
Stuff, keeping it with the the stuff.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
They're also so I don't know if you guys realized
this last year, but they did this thing where you
can have a third emergency quarterback.

Speaker 6 (39:54):
That's all that. Yep.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Pretty much from now on you can the teams can
have a three quarterback as an emergency guy that's from
the practice squad, which doesn't count towards an active roster spot.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
It says to expand the standard elevation rules to permit
clubs to elevate a bona fide quarterback an unlimited number
of times from its practice squad to its active list
to be its emergency third quarterback. So basically, it's gonna
be your practice squad quarterback that you can just bring
in every week. Uh huh. Also, the trading deadline has

(40:32):
been moved to the Tuesday after Week nine games.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
I actually liked that deal because, I mean, obviously we
know that he is.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
That more pushing it is that pushing it back a week.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
No, no, no, it's going forward the week. The deadline for
trade deadline was Week eight, and now it's gonna be
Wekennining pretty much to keep it blunt.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
And then approved resolutions UH injury reporting rules for players
who do not travel with their clubs to games away
from their home city competitively fairer whatever that means.

Speaker 6 (41:12):
I ain't here much about that one.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
And then whatever expands the twenty twenty three pro season
preseason trial of providing a specific hawkeye feed in the
coaches booth for the twenty twenty four preseason, with full
implementation for the twenty twenty five season. So okay, cool

(41:43):
is that it? That's all this article has. So I'm
pretty excited, did you. I'm pretty excited to see the
new kickoffs. See how I really hope we get more
special teams action. I really miss the days of Devin
Hester and uh DeShawn Jackson just killing it. Paterson to

(42:08):
all of them, man, just your your great players who
their niche was catching punts or catching kicks and taking
them to the house and making people look stupid on
the way.

Speaker 1 (42:20):
I generally think that the game of football. It's like
because now you have that. Okay, before we even get
the offense on or can't try to prevet this. You
got to make sure your special teams is actually a
part of the team again. Like now it was just
you're kicking it. You're kicking it and you're punting it.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Cool team with people that will never play a snap,
and now your special teams players will legitimately be dependable
should your team need them in a defensive or offensive situation.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
I wouldn't be surprised too that this becomes like long term,
that we start seeing contracts more special teams that's can
be worth more money.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
I think this is going to be a thing that
once they see it, by week three, we'll know that,
oh yeah, these folks aren't gonna let this go away
because it's a one year deal. And you can't blame
him for saying, hey, we'll try, but not at all.
And I think it's I think we I think the
fans are gonna hopefully it turned I'm not gonna say

(43:17):
I think I hope that it turns into a situation
where the fans would rather see what they're going to
see over seeing fair catches and commercials.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
You know, Well, speaking of that, did you want to
kind of finish it off with some NFL agency news?

Speaker 6 (43:35):
I got a little list of let's go tank.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Okay, so recent news Okay, we first and foremost, let's
go with the Eagles since you were an Eagle fan.
The Eagles are seeking for at least a second round
pick for Hassan Reddick and they are very highly interested
in trading him, but they will not budge off of
a second round pick.

Speaker 6 (43:55):
So any teams that are looking for a he's a.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Past rusher guy, right, yep, he's an edge yep, edge rusher,
which I mean times would be stupid to go trade
for him.

Speaker 6 (44:03):
Now because speaking of that, the.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Tennessee Titians traded and extended Lagarious Need. The Tennessee Titans
are traded to the Kansasity Chiefs a third round pick
for twenty twenty five and a twenty twenty four seventh
round pick swap. Now on top of that, the Tennessee
Titians have extended him to I'm gonna go check the
actual details because we got new details right now, excuse

(44:26):
me with my on professionalism. Yep, four year, seventy six
point four million dollar contract fifty five is guaranteed, So
Titians lock up their quarterback one for long term. Tredavious White,
Buffalo Bill, former Buffalo Bills cornerback has signed with the

(44:48):
La Rams, and there's been rumors going on for the
NFL free agent or draft that the Washington Commanders are
highly interested in drafting j J. McCarthy instead of Drake
Drake may or Jade and Daniels. And it looks like
that JJ McCarthy is has a higher chance of going

(45:09):
number two Zach Wilson out of everybody. Yep, Zach Wilson
has If the Jets cannot find a trade partner for
Zack Wilson, then he will remain as a quarterback two
backing up Aaron Rodgers and looks to be the long
term quarterback. So they're not giving up on Zach Wilson
unless they get a deal they cannot refuse. The Minnesota

(45:31):
Vikings are very highly interested in trading up because they
also want JJ McCarthy or quarterback one to keep Justin
Jefferson inside the building long term. And then the NFL
commissioner today was very short and blunt talking about the
Eagles and Falcons tampering with running back Sae Kwon Barkley

(45:54):
and quarterback Kirk Cousins and that they are highly investigating
the situation and they are going to keep it long
term to see if what happens again.

Speaker 6 (46:02):
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
Anything's gonna go through because let's be honest, every team
does it. Brendon Ayuk and the forty nine er look
like they will be moving on after this year. The
New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars, so that's gonna

(46:26):
be an interesting name to go on. Ayuk posted a
Instagram story, I mean, I know we're not pig, but
I'm gonna keep it PG pretty much. Samuel's bullcrap on
all the news thing they were gonna try to extend
him and to finish it off because there's so much stuff,
I don't think we need to go over everything today's episode.

Speaker 4 (46:44):
To finish it off.

Speaker 1 (46:45):
The New England Patriots Jared Mayo, head coach, has repeatedly
said that he is not going to deny the possibility
of trading down and trying to get jack compensation instead
of taking a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (46:57):
I pick three.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
So there's a lot of news today, Yeah, a lot
of good stuff. There's gonna be Christmas games again too
for the NFL, so we're getting more Christmas games. Amazon Prime.
Any Amazon Prime members make sure to keep that subscription
during playoff time because playoffs now will be on Amazon
Prime and Peacock. So there's a lot of I guess

(47:22):
you can say pay per view now for the NFL
and you have to pay watch.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
Thankfully, I'm already on that Amazon Prime. Yes, sir, let's go.

Speaker 6 (47:33):
Let's see defense it off.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Sorry one more. Dolphins and free agent Odell Beckham Junior
have very strong interest and the Dolphins have made a
contract offer and Odell Beckham Junior will make his decision
here in the near future.

Speaker 4 (47:49):
I hate the ridiculous not to go down there.

Speaker 6 (47:53):
I mean, let's be honest, it'd be ridiculous not to
go anywhere.

Speaker 4 (47:56):
He's old, man, I mean, yeah, but that's still OBJ
to an extent.

Speaker 1 (48:01):
But he was supposed to be the wide receiver one
for them, and he only had like six hundred yards
for Baltimore.

Speaker 6 (48:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
So but my friend, yeah, man, this was this was good. Uh.
I'm looking forward to some of these real changes. I'm
looking forward to the draft we've got coming up for
the old NFL. We might, you know, might do something
about that. We might do.

Speaker 6 (48:26):
Something in the works, might might have it.

Speaker 4 (48:29):
Oh yeah, dude, looking forward to seeing what happens with
this whole show. Hey, story. I figure by this time
next week we'll have hopefully have a lot more to
talk about. Who knows, we might.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
Even just that we're two days away, man from MLB
Opening Day.

Speaker 4 (48:48):
That's man. The fact that we went this whole show
and didn't even really talk about the fact that opening
Day is Thursday, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Hey, I can't, I don't know. I know you're a
Saint Louis Cardo fans fan, as from a neutral fan,
wain for Nashville to get their damn team. Good luck
to you. I hope the Cardinals do good. It's gonna
be nice being free, baby.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
Unfortunately, we open up with a four game stint against
the Dodgers and then we have a series at the Padres.
So I'm just me.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
The Angels and the Dodgers are tied for the freeway
series right now.

Speaker 4 (49:24):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (49:25):
Never say never, man, they're losing to the damn Angels.

Speaker 6 (49:28):
Never say never.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
You're right. But hey, it's been real, dude. I appreciate
you coming over and hopping out, hanging out and playing
women tonight, dear listeners, we hope y'all enjoyed the conversation.
We appreciate y'all. God bless y'all. We love y'all. It
is always. We'll catch y'all next time.

Speaker 7 (49:47):
God, bless y'all, Love y'all, have a.

Speaker 6 (49:49):
Good day, stay safe.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
As always, I'm your COE host MVP out
