Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Dave Hannigraf, and I'd like to tell you
about an exciting project that we've been working on. When
we began the Handgunplugged podcast almost a decade ago, the
goal was to take listeners out of the studio and
into the study, to be a fly on the wall
of sorts for conversations with some of the most interesting,
(00:21):
inspirational and informative people on the planet. As the producer
of that podcast, I've been heavily involved in the background.
Now I will be the one grabbing the mic as
I come out of the study and go into the
studio for our new podcast, called A Commitment for Reality.
As the host, I'm bringing my experience from behind the
(00:44):
scenes to the forefront, approaching some profound issues with genuine curiosity,
because we're living through one of the most disorienting periods
in human history, leaving many wondering what is reality. Reality
is the way that the world true, true, is independent
of your beliefs, your opinions, or your illusions. If truth
(01:07):
is the map by which we navigate our lives, it's
no wonder that we're left disoriented when we live by lies.
One of the defining features of our modern age is
the rise of the post truth mindset, a mindset where
truth becomes whatever you define it to be, your truth,
my truth, instead of one universal truth that we can
(01:29):
actually discern and discover. Now, add to that the uncertainty
surrounding the arrival of artificial intelligence and a collapse an
institutional trust across the board, and our collective vertigo starts
to make a lot more sense. When we disconnect from
the gravitational pull of truth, we drift into fantasy, and
(01:49):
there's no limit to the outrageousness of an untethered existence.
If you thought a post truth world was problematic, what
about a world that's post reality. The post truth era
is not just an intellectual problem, it's an existential problem.
We're moving beyond debating facts to debating reality itself, and
(02:11):
disorientation is the natural consequence when we disconnect from the truth.
This is why we must make a commitment to reality.
So what does that mean? A commitment to reality? A
commitment to reality is a dedication to discerning what is
true and developing the discipline to live in alignment with
(02:34):
that truth. In alignment with reality, this podcast is an
apologetic for reality, showing that living in alignment with what
is true is the most beautiful, compelling, and free way
to live. This will be a joint pursuit, and I'm
inviting you to join me on this journey of making
a commitment to reality to become less disoriented and more disciplined.
(03:00):
Every episode is an intentional act of grounding our existence together.
I am genuinely excited to share these conversations with you
as together we make a commitment to reality, to what
is beautiful, to what is good, and to what is true.
