(00:10):
All right, everybody, how youdoing out there? It's to be nice
efty podcasts. I want to callit season two of the e J podcast.
We just went a different route differenteventually, Big jailb here for some
episodes. How to change some thingsup, go a different route with you

(00:31):
know episodes and are different guests, you know, appearances, whatever the case
is, people who have different passionsfor different things in life. Because we
all can't like the same things. We all can't like sports, we all
can't like, you know, fishing, stuff like that. That's what I'm
trying to get at. So withme today I got one of my first
guests of the season. You wantto introduce yourself, sir, Yes,

(00:58):
that's your I'll say, that's yourdisc golf name, because growing up we
are actually cousins, and growing upwe always called you that's been a family.
That's our family only. So ifyou're not family, don't call them
there right, sure, okay, word word word. So I'm invited to
be a guest on the podcast becauseyou have a different passion than what I'm

(01:19):
used to seeing or normally seeing inthe world, and your passion is disc
golf. How did that come about? I'm curious. I never forget that
they started playing disc golf. SoI just came back from a vacation Florida.
You said, ball golf. Ohregular, okay, regular, gotcha?

(01:42):
Gotcha? Gotcha? Gotcha. SoI just came back from a ball
golf vacation of Florida and a partyof mind. Hey, you ever throw
a frisbee? Mans? That's up? He invites me over, takes hard
for Wickham Park. Okay, Iremember working park yet a good part really
throw apart. Oh, you know, all types of stuff, the animals,

(02:05):
field, cricket fields, all thatstuff. So he's like, check
this out. Put the frisbee inmy hand. He's like, can you
throw it to that basket over there'sthe metal chain basket just in the corner
over there. I'm like, Ican try it. Yeah. I shoot
it and went about four hundred feet. Pee's mouth draws. He couldn't believe
I threw it that far. AndI found I saw. I saw the

(02:29):
flight of the disc and fell inlove with it, like instantly knew what
I was doing, Like you know, oh that's cool. You know.
I wasn't a sports guy. Iwas heavy set, so I never played
football. Never played basketball, pleaseright, and do any sports. So
this was the first thing that Icould do that I felt was like a
sport and athletic and I was reallygood at it fast, and after that

(02:51):
first day pretty much got hooked.I hung up, my clubs, got
hung up, and I literally haven'ttouched him since seventeen years old. Really,
so you actually big golf. Iwas like a thirteen handicapper. That's
not bad, that's pretty good.Yeah, that's nice. So since that
day it's just been strictly disc golfand golf. Man. It was so
you know, golf is expensive, man, it's super expressive. Yes,

(03:14):
definitely. At the time I wasplaying. I mean luckily I had no
kids and stuff, but it wasit was costing to be pretty ready to
stay up. Yeah, I've seenprices just to go to the to the
hitting range what do you call it, the just the range or whatever,
that's what privates range. Just thatis just expensive as hell to just to
hit some balls. I mean, you know there's golf golf rounds to go

(03:35):
range from fifty bucks on. Ifyou get a special for fifty bucks or
forty five bucks for the cart, right for a special, it's one hundred
and twenty bucks sometimes runner my god, geez, it's ridiculous, especially some
of the private Yeah, so ohdefinitely, if you go private, it's
almost two times as much. Maybe. So when my buddy was like,
oh, it's basically free to play. Every single course in Connecticut is free.

(03:58):
You just got to buy your diskwhite Frisbees, I'm liked, bought
a couple of Frisbees and got hooked. Started playing. I was playing every
day. You played this golf forfree every day. That's awesome. That's
that and shoot practice and get better. And it's basically golf with a frisbee
in a basket instead of a clubin the morning. I've seen it.

(04:20):
I've seen it. You ever gota hold in one? I know,
I've seen a couple of videos ofit, and is I'm doing my research
this week a little bit and Iwas like, well, ship, some
guy hit you know, a holdin one. I forget the video,
but it was deep. It wasdeep on this. He shot it like
around some trees. That was ahold on one that was like albatross.

(04:42):
So it's basically yea, I don'tknow what that is. It could be
cat really high around the trees. You couldn't even see it. Yeah,
yeah, yeah, I think that'sthe one. I bet it be super
dope, super Yeah, that wasan albatross, but that was a part
five and put it into Yeah howmany yards that I'm not sure how usually

(05:06):
go with feet instead of yards offis and yards disc golfs and feet,
but I think that was like afive hundred a little bit of a five
hundred feet or something like that.Oh my god, what you figure like
three football field and a half orsomething like that, three hundred yards yards
for football field? Yeah, threehundred feet. Yeah, so yeah,
football field and half. Yeah, you're right, right right, that's awesome.

(05:29):
Actually, seventeen ones, seventeen seventeen. I played seventeen years ahead.
You know, some years I've gottena few more than others. But yeah,
all of your aces on big courses. But on top of those seventeen
aces, also have over twenty twoaces on my TV course. That was
the TV courses. What's that?Basically like the pump pump version or the

(05:53):
mini golf version of disclay, Sobasically disc golf with shorter distances where you're
you know, you're going to amini golf and you pump and you're just
putting and you're not driving, thesame thing with with with with disc golf.
My tea course is just your putter, Okay, got there. Take
shorter distances and trying to get holdof ones and kind of gets really competitive
and it's fun. It's a greatplace to learn how to play the sport,

(06:15):
you know, because shorter distances.Yeah, it's really inclusive to all
ages, from the old to theyoung and everywhere in between. With the
tea course, super dope, superdope. The longest hosts two hundred and
twenty seven feet, that's the lastone and progressively gets harder from hold one
to whole eighteen. And it's reallycool. It's it's really technical for it
being a short short course. Iactually just had a top designer of my

(06:39):
course today. The name is RobDemure, and he came out and he
loved the course. He loved thelayout. So no, that's dope as
hell. Yeah, that's awesome.I know of him, and I know
if he's designed three courses and he'scurrently designing a couple more. Really dope,
dude, And for him to comeout, he played my course food,
he played the full course yep.And he played the T course and
loved the pole layouts, completely impressed, and I mean he had That's awesome.

(07:03):
This stuff you don't normally hear everyday. So that's why I'm glad
we're talking about it because this isa cool perspective of stuff we don't know
nothing about. So we're just tryingto learn. Where's your shop located?
You know, you said you weretalking about you had a shop. So
Towerbridge disc Golf that's my shop andcourse. So the course is located in
we talk, Connecticut, basically rightnear Avonland. Mostly it's a small town

(07:30):
inside of the Yeah, yeah, there. There's a bunch of times like
that here in CET's right on road. It's an old ball golf course that
we converted into a discolf course andit's strictly discolf. And then on top
of it being disc golf, wehave the TV course, we have the
main course, and the plus wehave the shop. The shop has this

(07:50):
from multiple disc golf companies, apparelwith our logo or anyone else's logo that
we haven't shop. We also havebushrooms that you don't mine. And too
many of the discolf courses out theremost every single disc golf course out there
is a public free to play ata public park or state park, or

(08:11):
it has local volunteers who take careof it and kind of run the show.
My course is one of the only, if not the only, pay
to play, paid play course inConnecticut. So again we we pay to
be there, and we take careof that place and maintain it, and
we charge people to come to soyou get the best possible experience when you

(08:33):
go there. Nowhere else you're gonnaget a better experience. It's wide open.
So most of all the disc golfcourses in Connecticut, New England you
are all wooded. Like I said, they're on private lands, pubblic courses,
it's mostly all wooded. Are isan old ball golf course that we
converted to a dope wide open spacesripping the driver far and then approaching which

(08:54):
are made you know, from agreat distance, and it's just a little
bit more wide open than most allConnecticut disc golf courses. So we offer
the bathroom along with the pro shop. We have you know, the three
day outs on the main course andthe tea course, and then like the
one other plus that know, maybeonly one other disc golf course has is.
We have a beer guarden all site. Oh it's the talkin Mountain Collective.

(09:18):
Really dope has over twenty five tapswith the best beers from the breweries,
the best breweries in Connecticut, alsowith their own beer. They just
picked the best beers brewed in Connecticut. So they have stuff from like stuff
from what's the popular uh Thomas Hookerfrom uh yeah, Harford. Yeah,

(09:39):
Bluefield Legitimate is over there in NewHartford, right, I believe. Yeah,
I haven't been there yet. Iheard it's nice place. You gotta
check it out. So, yeah, all the best beers from all around
Connecticut are gonna be in this onespot. And they don't have just regular
beers. They got i Pas,laggers, wheat beers, German style beers,
pill there's anything you can think ofthey have there. And they have

(10:01):
a few hard drinks and whatnot. The food is amazing nice. I mean
chilling food, chill, real, real, real chill food. They'll have
food trucks, Like Thursday through Sundays, they'll have the food trucks. Live
music Fridays is also live music.Sometimes they charge as a little cover for

(10:22):
the music. Sometimes it's free. But they're really super dope chill spot.
You can chill inside or outside. It's a close it's like almost like a
ski lodge style. You come inor your drinks, sit wherever you want.
There's the waiters, a waitresses. You pretty much like uh self service
you up there or your drink andsit wherever you want to hang out.
There's picnic tables, you can listento the music. People bring their kids

(10:43):
to hang out and stuff, andthen it's just good just about to chill
with the disc golf being around it. So it's like a like a private
club field, but it's open tothe public. That's awesome. That's awesome.
It's our disc off shop and andof course has the private field,
but you know, it feels exclusivelyeverything. You get the experience of being.

(11:05):
Now when you go to let's sayyou want to go play eighteen holds,
there is somewhere you can sign upor how do you go about that?
You know, right at the proshop you go in, we'll schedule
your tea time where you can signup right online at a tarbage diiscolf dot
com and you can schedule your ttime right online. Okay, that's pretty
dope. This time is already atsix in the morning. We've got some

(11:26):
early birds out there out there andjust play before work. And the last
team time I believe at nine itmight be at night, is six thirty
at night. But sometimes that it'sa starker. I don't even get up
a six and the moeer for work. People are up early for for disc
off days. It's the love ofit, that's what that's what's awesome about.

(11:48):
It's different, you know, youknow again, I didn't know this
was a thing like that. Youknow, I knew disc golf was a
thing. But the way you're describingeverything, it's like it's a it's a
bar, it's a hangout. It'syou can eat some food, some good
food, drinks. This is anexperience. So get a little workout,
come out and you exactly so it'shealthy. It's great because you you spend

(12:09):
a couple of hours, you know, in nature, walking and taking in
the fresh air. You're hanging outwith either friends or family, walking with
the family. That the t courseis great or uh from date nights or
to the kid kid kid after mefring out. The kids that play play
mini golf want to play disc golf, you know, take the family out,

(12:30):
have some fun, and then myspot just happens to have the beer
guard and the music and all thatactual all the extra amenities that not all
the golf courses have. Again, but every other discolf course in Connecticut is
free. That's my competition. Mycompetition is free. That's why we have
to have the mini golf course, the yeah, and all the pluses,

(12:50):
all the amenities to invite the peopleover and come and make them see like
it's better to come over here thananywhere else. You know, you get
what you're paid for. And ifyou're paying for free, you don't have
the restrooms, you don't have thebeer garden, you don't have the food
trucks, the music, and youknow, now you do. Yeah,
and that's that's pretty cool. We'reoff for that to Connecticut, trying to
have this be the mecca of thisgolfing Connecticut. It's a prime location.

(13:13):
It's it's right, almost smacked themin the middle of CT. Yeah,
definitely. Do you guys hold likeany tournaments like that? You actually have
one coming up June first. We'resetting up for it. It's gonna be
a good one. You're gonna like, this is gonna be a beer crawl,
a beer oh, I want tohear about this one. So we
have three layouts on the course.Yeah, we got the red which is

(13:33):
the short, the white which isthe original layout, super technical, really
proud of this layout. And thenwe got the blue which is the long
the white layout. Every single holeis sponsored by either a brewery or a
sider, every single hole. Soour beer crawl is gonna be eighteen holes,
and the respected brewer will be attheir respected home all right, serving

(13:58):
beer to everyone who comes in asthey play. Eighteen hose eighteen different,
that's not they're a beer. Everysingle hole you go to play with,
you have a drink and they're eithergive it your can some So this is
gonna be your third beer crawl,So you either get a can to take
with you or they'll have samples ora keg or something like that. So
every single hole is different, andyou go out there, you just drink

(14:20):
and have a good time, drinkinglittle things and have a few beers,
frisbees and drink. That's like ourmotto is drinking throw things. So don't
be a lightweight if you go outthere, because you can't be drunk by
the end of you get to theeighteen tournament. Is that most tournaments start
early in the morning, so we'llhave two rounds. Is it's just a
one round tournament. My course isone of the longest in Connecticuts. It's
pretty long and you just drink, just drink, making people falling over.

(14:46):
I don't know. We've got alot of really good feedback about the beer
crawls. That's what's gonna be ourthird one. Okay, so people really
love it. They come in andsome people play before some people is the
first time playing disc golf. Theyjust want to drink it. Yeah,
it's to try it out. Imean I get for me myself, I've
never played, never tried. Sowhat would you what's the advice you would

(15:07):
give me first, you know, first time on the course. What would
you try to do? My shopfor the first time and you're like,
oh, I want to I wantto play this stuff. I want to
learn. I'm like, well,I'm gonna put you the direction of the
tea course. That's the reason whywe made it is people want to learn.
But you can't count it out becauseI even have pros that come out
and play that tea course and havea really hard time as easy as it
is competitive and it's it's just reallydope. But yeah, I'm gonna I'm

(15:31):
gonna help you out. You're gonnahave a rental, you want to buy
your own direction I teach, I'lltell you hold the disc in your palm.
That was my next question. What'sthe best technique to hold it?
Because everybody choose differences. Like basketball, everybody shoots the ball different, everybody
holds a club different. The wayI teach what I'm teaching because I also

(15:52):
do lessons. You know, youguys want to come out checking out,
I'll give you. I'll definitely leavethe car, I'll get the info out.
Have you throw. So you're gonnaput the disc in your palm and
then just kind of squeeze it orhold it is comfortable, make it feel
comfortable in your hand. We havea nice strong grip where your thumb is

(16:14):
in the top flat plate and thenthe bottom of your hands are as comfortable.
Some people whold there, the powergrip, which is meaning curled up
all the fingers around the rim.The fan grip, which is the one
that I use, which is thekind of spread out more at the bottom
of the plate. They have bigfingers. I have to probably use the
fan grip. The ones that we'reholding here, you can see they're mid
range discs, right. We're gonnaget to that too. There's just like

(16:37):
regular golf. It's like ball golf. There's drivers, there's putters, just
mid range discs. Rings are likeyour hybrids iron so they all do different
things. They all fly in differentdirections. I'll never tell you. Put
it in your hand, make itfeel comfortable, hold it as tidy as
you can, all right, andwhen you release, you're gonna go across
your chest with a swinging motion, and then you're gonna snap it forward.

(16:59):
So a frisbee, naturally is gonnacome out of your hand. If you're
throwing it right hand, backhand,it's gonna come out, go straight,
and it's gonna dump to the left. That's just science, that's just frisbee.
It comes for sure. I'm picturingit right now. Yeah. Yeah,
you're throwing it out right handed andyou shoot it, booth comes out
dumps to the left every single time. There's certain discs that are aerodynamic,

(17:19):
aero dynamic, dynamically, You're good. It's been a long day designed differently
to do different things and kind ofyou know the five the logs of the
science, where you throw it exactlyhow you throw a regular frisbee, but
it's actually gonna turn the right beforeit dumps to the left. Right,
just shape differently so that it cutsthrough the air a little bit different and

(17:42):
different things. So I'm gonna tellyou keep it flat to the earth,
do that swinging motion across the chest. And when you release it and it's
pointing in the direction you want torelease, don't like open your hand and
release it. Hold on tight andlet the momentum of the swing rip out
of your hand. And that ripis gonna give it momentum as it spins.

(18:03):
The more the disk spins, themore control, speed and distance you're
gonna have out of it. SoI definitely want to the momentum of the
swing rips out of your hand, and that rip makes it spin, That
keeps it gliding, and that's whatmakes it move forward. And that's you
know, that's pretty long distance shotsand stuff, and even for short distances

(18:26):
and long so there's just like golf, you have to have touch. Sometimes
you can have a hard grip anda hard swing. But you have touched
and you slow down the swing alittle bit. It's still the same amount
of force and momentum. Come andmake it. The disc come out.
You slow down the swing so itdoesn't something a little bit different. So

(18:47):
you're out there. That's to thecourse. You're gonna have a ren.
Wanna give you a putter in themid range. You won't even touch a
driver. It's none need to toucha driver on the mini horses. It's
just like a mini golf. Allyou need is a you know, it's
a small one small. So we'llgive you, give you a putter,
and then you'll get out there andyou start to learn how to throw short
distances between ninety feet and two hundredand twenty seven feet distance. The longest

(19:08):
distance on the short course, it'stwo hundred and twenty seven feet, But
the shortest distance on the main courseis still longer than the longest on the
little course. So the shortest onthe red layout, I think it's like
three ten might be the shortest feetthe shortest distance red course. That's the

(19:29):
football field. We have a thirteenhundred foot old part five geez thirteen hundred
feet yeah yeah, sup? Orsuper long. But sit out there,
you put in you've got a fourteenspeed driver. So this so drivers as
drivers distance drivers now for drivers, are they heavier? So they range from
one hundred and forty grams to themax weight of any mid range drivers one

(19:52):
hundred and eighty grams's way on aregular driver, on a speed drivers one
hundred and seventy six point six grams. How is that in pounds? Because
I'm bad at science, So what'sthat in pounds? I mean, it's
just like a pound or two ifthat? Yeah, I'm trying. I'm

(20:14):
trying to cop sight in my headout the way. I think I got
it wrong. I don't know,bro, No, but it's not it's
not really pound. I didn't whatis it? Sixteen ounces is a pound
and probably eight grams in an ounceor something like. Yeah, that's two
technical for right now. Yeah, yeah, it's less than a pound.

(20:34):
I'm not that. Seventy five gramsis basically the way of your old school
frisbee. Yeah, yeah for sure. Those right. So these weighs the
same, They're just compact and weigheda little bit different. Look pretty said
too, you know That's what I'msaying. So that like it's all the

(20:56):
weight distributed different areas. Okay, yeah, it's not your frisbee. It
is actually this now. And inball golf you see players, you know,
miss an easy putt. Have youever seen that in disc golf?
I'm talking like within five ft andand they miss it. I missed.
Sometimes sometimes just it's either a slipsyou're not paying attention, yeah, or

(21:21):
you're just like this is a gimme. You think it's a gimmey and it
cuts to your finger as you're releasingit too hard and it spits out the
chains. Yeah, okay, I'veshot it from close where it spits through
the chains so perfectly, and it'ssped out the back, missed the po
the center and sped out the backof the chain. It's brutal, and

(21:42):
just like golf, I mean, until it's in the it's in the basket,
it doesn't county. It doesn't countexactly. I've had to land on
top of the basket and that alsodoesn't count. You actually physically have to
take it out and a stroke andput it in the basket. Oh wow,
wow, that's insane. It canimagine that. No, have you
played any in major tournaments? Sinceyou've been playing, because I did some

(22:04):
homework. I was on the websitedoing and stuff. I see you travel
to uh, I believe Michigan. You've traveled to Cali out there in New
Orleans, Okay, Michigan, uh, Ohio. These were off for tournaments
or these are all like you know, just you know the area. I've
gone to a few tournaments out ofstate Michigan. I went to the two

(22:29):
thousand and nine fifteen I believe WorldBirdie Bashed Championships. So they had tryouts,
not tryouts, invitationals in all statesacross the country. Okay, thanks
for yeah, try to try tobecome pro win your spot at the championships

(22:49):
of the Birdie Bash. Birdie bachelorspecific style you know how they have like
a scramble or they have, yeah, type of different styles. This was
this was the Birdie Bash was onewhere you had two discs ye and you
took two shots from the tea padand you got five points for an ace,

(23:11):
two points for hitting the metal basket, one point for hitting the chains.
So it's just like a format,it's it's a different format style.
So I won the invitation that theyhad here in Connecticut, and I got
invited with the top one hundred peoplein the country to go play. That's
only thirty third world. Yeah, that's still not bad. I've a hundred
people. Yeah, but agains someof the top players in in in in

(23:37):
the States. That's one of myclaims. I also my biggest claim is
the two thousand and nine World ChampionshipsNew England working from a local is a
local disc golf organizations because New EnglandFlyers Associations tournaments every year. It's a
series of tournaments, a series oftournaments and you accumulate your points and whoever

(24:03):
has the highest points end of theyears get into the finals. I finished
ninth overall for the year over fivehundred players. That's amazing, and then
got to the finals. Top twentyfive players got into the finals. They
were in Maine that year. Idrove out to Maine, two day tournament,
complete rain, couldn't even see infront of me. Wow, you
guys still play. So it's notit's not a rainout like golf. Like

(24:26):
golf, especially in the snow blizzards. That's gotta be awesome though honestly,
it's it's the whole thing with withNew England discolf so yeah, two thousand
and nine me for champion, beatout the top twenty five players in the
Rain and then and then I gotmy my first championship win. There that

(24:48):
that's awesome. It's gotta be Attributionto anything is awesome, you know,
because you're competing against the best andthen you come out on time to get
that trophy. It's it's amazing feeling. I bet it was. It was
pretty cool. It was pretty cool. Actually the very first tournament I ever
played, which is kind of real. Yeah, I was throwing discs at
with him. Some guy's a randomguy, his name was Dave P.
Kale saw me throwing and uh,I wrote a tournament. It's called the

(25:11):
Act ACT Amateur Challenge Tournament. Itwas like, should just try it out?
But sure, okay, it givesme the information and it was it
was like ten bucks at the timeto play the tournament. I went,
I got two free discs and howsharpie all before I just started playing.

(25:32):
Yeah great. I started playing andI ended up in the lead card after
the first round and I ended upwinning by two strokes. Where was that
here, Connecticut? It was inWickham Park my very first turn. It
was that wim Park, and that'swhere I actually started meeting all the disc
golf community. Okay, I camein, uh, I was seventeen years

(25:56):
ago. Disc golf was primarily justlike you know, hippie, white sport
about it if you were you know, spoken, and you know, we
knew or anything about this golf, you know what I mean. I coudn't
even Like when I first heard youwere trying to playing it, I was
like, what the hell is thiscalled? I can't even lie. I
was like, what the hell isthat? Like I put two and two

(26:18):
together, but I was like,I've never even thought that was like actual
sporting people played and stuff. Youknow. So what was the tournament?
Tournament? The first one? Yeah, very first. So I ended up
ended up pointing, and the wholediscolf community had no clue who I was
because I was basically the only brownguy. You a white hippie sport.

(26:41):
Yeah, some like tall lanky stallionsdude. Like there were just seventeen year
old, tall lanky hippie dudes like, and I beat them all out.
And I was just like a heavyset browndide. Yeah, I mean like
Puerto Rican and it's just like takingover for a sport, I wondered,
and people were just like they clappedstuff, but they were just kind of
like looking like I had no ring. So, you know, some random

(27:06):
people just coming up to him andthey were like, Hey, what's going
on, man, what's your damnlike Ossie you know from Hartford, you
know. And I gave him myspiel and I learned disc golf and they're
like, you want to play afew rounds, and they kind of like
embraced me. At the time,I was an employed at the time,
and I had my first daughter whenshe was old. They're kind of already
into her thing, and so Iwas like, I ain't got nothing to

(27:26):
do. I'm unemployed. They broughtme in. I helped build a couple
of courses. Within the first coupleof months of me playing, I just
kept moving up and up and upand meeting different people. A guy named
Joe Lick licked me super dude. And then the guy who showed me the
ropes, Dan Hale, was likeone of the best dudes. I helped

(27:51):
put up Crane Hill discof course inthe Wilveringham, Massachusetts. Build that course
up. Pretty cool dude, andthey brought me in and taught me disc
golf, and all the joke isthe white guys taught me how to play
this golf, and I charged themto play the Circle of Life. I
love that. That's that's awesome. But you know they they taught me how

(28:15):
to how to do something. Ienjoy it, love it, and now
I'm just bringing them something that theytaught me even better. So I do
have some questions because again I wasdoing my homework and it's comments. I
was like, you know what, test your knowledge a little bit. If

(28:37):
you don't know, it's it's totallyit's totally fine. Just curious. And
I got these off Googles. Imean, it might be very easy questions.
So where was the first official courseput up? That was easy?
I felt like that was easy.A lot of people claim to have the
first course. I've heard it wason the West Coast, and I've heard

(29:02):
on the East coast and on theWest coast. I want to say it
was like the Vega or something likethat. I can't remember the name of
the West Coast, but and thealmost either Pennsylvania or a lot of people
claim the fame. Why don't youtell me? Yeah? Yeah, So
what I found doing some studying isuh. It was in Pasadena in La

(29:22):
County around nineteen seventy five something likethat, So I was really interested.
I didn't even know that was official. That was the first official course supposed
that it was invented in the sixties. Yes, yeah, so that's what
I'm saying. A lot of peoplethat people say that they've been playing disc
golf for years before it was actuallythe inventor of the basket was created.

(29:44):
Yeah. Their version of disc golfwas, hey, man, I bet
you can make it to that firehydrant and for shot or you know,
and that's amount of shots that youcan. So that that was their target.
All right, now let's go tothat telephone pole over there. I
bet you can make it over therebefore and that was like their golf round.
Yeah, that's cool create you know. And I saw something that they
got to a point where they werepaint a target on the ground yep,
far away and that's how you gotto your spot. And I was like

(30:07):
that, it's cool. It waslike using certain PVC piping or certain metal
piping that would make a thing sowhen you hear it. So sometimes they'll
put the pole in the middle ofthe woods, you don't see it,
but you hear the things. Yeah. Yeah, they'ld than water. So
those are called target golf, sothose are really popular. Going in on
the late seventies into the eighties, targt golf was super popular. That's awesome.

(30:32):
Yeah, so I'm trying to gethe said, it's a rising thing
in CT and ads of twenty twentytwo that I saw or twenty one,
sorry, TT was ranked thirty thirdand number of players. I guess that
was three years ago, so Iwant to see you know, it is
rising up because a lot of stateshave it, and a lot of the
top ten was New England main hadit. New Hampshire was up on the

(30:55):
list for mont so it's big outin New England for sure. The top
players or top courses, no,just people that play overall overall players.
Yeah, this was again twenty twentyone, but kind of it was thirty
third on the list or maybe acouple of couple of notches up after.
It's still growing yet We've been growingfor a long long time, man,

(31:18):
I mean enormous growth after COVID.But I think it won't change too much
on that number as far as theplayers playing, because yeah, it's growing
in every single state so fast that, yeah, it's not gonna be one
state growing faster than the other,so it' still like equally growing. It's
just the whole thing is growing asa whole. Yeah, yeah, I

(31:40):
know. There's an app for ittoo that I was reading up on.
It's you Disk. Yeah. Sothat those numbers went up in just a
year from last year to this year, I'm sorry, from twenty twenty two
to twenty twenty three, it wentup two hundred and fifty k users of
going into the app and actually playingsome rounds. I was like, oh,
that's pretty good. So all onon twenty twenty three, one point

(32:01):
five million players are playing disc golf, and that's that's low because not everybody
has an app exactly. I wasjust thinking of that, that can't be
a real number because there's people thatthat don't use that they're just gonna play.
Yeah. So and even in mycourse, my course is on you
just you see it and it's you. This is an amazing app. It's
a free app for the most part, you know, until you go to

(32:23):
the premium premium like any other app, but a GPS is you around every
single track. It shows you whereevery single discolf course is in the world
for free. That's awesome, whichis super dope, and it keeps track
of the score for that course thatyou're playing. Super dope. We were
up there and we got They sendout ratings every year or stats. They

(32:45):
sent out stats, and we wereyou know, we we have some pretty
high stats. You know, weintroduced like twelve hundred new players that first
year and the way that that wasthrough new rounds playing on their app.
Okay, I think we were fifthold. We're all on rounds played the
first couple of years. We wereranked in the top five our first year,

(33:07):
instantly racked in the top five, went to the top third, in
the top three in the second year. I don't know where we're right now.
We won't find out think until likeJune July from the last year or
whatnot. But this that's come out. You just catch some super dope sets.
That's awesome. Do you guys havea peak time? You guys do,
Like what's your peak? Like Iwould I would assume me personally,
I would say, you know, summertime, Oh, like a peak season.

(33:30):
Yeah, peak season, That's whenI would go because I don't want
I don't like to heat. Likea cool spring and the sun's out and
it's a coolay day, we getslammed on a hot, sunny, sunny
day. We're gonna have below evershow out. It is like I said,
it's a white open golf course.Golf course. So most all discolf

(33:52):
courses are in the woods. Soyou know, anywhere else you're gonna go,
you're not gonna get like here. You're gonna get roasted on the which
is super fun. But you know, some people just can't can't take the
sun. I know I can't.Our our peak, our peak season is
the fault and that that also runsaround the October Fest and beer Crass and

(34:15):
stuff like that, which is prettycool with the with the tournament. So
that that's how our peak seasons. And uh and right now at the beginning
of our season usually gets already reallyflooded with the time being all booked up,
all right for your tournaments, doyou guys do a payout depending on
the tournament. So the beer Crasstournament is the prize is it's just sanction

(34:38):
all right, because there is awhole sanctioning if you want to do tournaments
through the p D g as theProfessional Disc Golf Association. Yea, you
can run a professional disc golf tournament. And you know they were just today
they were playing the dynamic discope. And so there's live disc golf every weekend.
You guys watch live basketball. Wewatched live disc golf on disc Golf

(34:59):
Network because you have to pay forit because the popular masses or whatnot.
But every weekend you're out there. Then they've played tournaments in different cities,
four day, four day tournaments, just like Okay, off Thursday, finished
Sunday. Yeah, make the withthe PGA Tour almost yeah, yeah,
that's dope. They made good money. There's there's a little bit of money

(35:19):
in this. It's actually some goodmoney. Because again I was doing my
research, I was like, that'sactually pretty good. She got like Ricky
Whitesaki or Simon. I don't know, I don't know it is the tournament,
Yeah, the one tournament last yearthat I saw. I don't know
what tournament it was. But thehighest payout last year was three hundred and
twenty two K. That's amazing. That was probably the World Championship. Okay,

(35:45):
that's awesome, that's pretty goods thiscall Pro Tour has changed the game
for disc golfers. So they madethese tournaments and they're actually giving out payouts
thirty forty grand payouts to first place. Yeah, and the whole certain tournaments
that all you know, invitational tournaments. We're all fifty fifty two players get
paid a few brands. Yeah, but they they've changed the game. And

(36:07):
these guys they travel all across thecountry to these tournaments. They're nasty,
they're throwing, they're driving six hundredfeet seven, they're taking these discs to
different levels. Man. And nowit's just the kids. So when I
started playing disc golf, bro,we didn't have YouTube, and we didn't
have you know, all these videosand how to videos holding this, do

(36:30):
this. You just you know, picked it, picked it up. He
learned, Yeah, hands on learning. Yeah, the old school with Yeah.
These kids now have all these prosthat just showed them how to do
yeah ten minutes how to do it, and they take that and rock with
it, man, and they're nasty. Watch these thirteen fourteen year old kids

(36:51):
fire their feet, no problems. Is from one hundred feet out putting and
like hard crashing center that change you'relike, but with accuracy. A whole
it's like basketball now, there's kidsnow that are shooting from like Steph Curry
range at a young age, tentwelve year olds shooting it crazy because that's

(37:12):
what they see now. And there'svideos. You know, you shoot like
this, so you do this andexactly. And I think basketball is good
for a while now. But that'sa different subject. But that's cool that
you know they have that now.I don't know if it makes it harder
to compete, but it makes itmore fun because you got everybody's good,
not everybody's you know, weak.Yes, so the competition is there,
you know, as they go fromcity to city, you know it's it's

(37:35):
mostly the same pros. But thenyou have your uh invitational winners who will
come in and the semi pro comein and you're like you see these new
kids. You're like, oh man, they given these top pros competitions.
Yeah, you're coming again. Oncethey know how to do it, they're
learning and practicing and teaching themselves andit's it's a whole new ball game right

(37:58):
now. That's amazing, man, that's all that's cool. Yeah, this
kid is not vogging, so Ididn't know. Also as well, there's
a hall of fame for this golfthat it's all is in Hutsville, Alabama.
I was like, what, Ifeel like so left out, Like
I don't know, like half thisis like again, we do some research,

(38:19):
you start looking at stuff and it'slike, holy crap, it's a
whole world World championship. Yeah,it's all. I mean, you'd be
surprised that it goes back to likethe seventies and they had the first championship,
right yeah. I think it waslike fifty dollars or a car was
given away. It was like thebiggest thing ever. Yeah, it was

(38:40):
like fifty k. Now is fromback then. Fifty k back then,
it's like a couple of million nowmaybe it's something like that. It was
huge and even pretty mug. That'spretty good again that that three twenty just
to win the tournament. Yeah, because living playing, which is unheard of

(39:00):
a few years ago. Right,Like, that's that's new to me.
I'm still new to this, youknow. I'm something learned and get all
the the not learning. I'm nottrying to learn yet, but I'm gonna
learn the lino and all the thecourses and get out there and shoot some
and or throw some whatever that. However we say it. This is an
addiction, this off adventure because ofoh you know, you ain't doing crack.

(39:27):
It could be worse. It couldbe worse. The cheapest, most
expensive sport that you get addicted to. Yeah, because it's free, it's
basically free. But you want thenicest frisbee, the prettiest looking disc.
You know you're gonna find the rightone, and you want the right color.
And if you like that one,you want a couple more. You
want to back up right, andthen you need to back up your back
up, you know what I mean. You just lost the one. You

(39:49):
need to get another. Yeah, that one, and get the next one.
And then the brand new one justcame out a little bit different than
this one. Let me try itout. Oh damn, I can throll
this further than that one. Soit could add up. It'll yeah,
it'll add up the price, Yeah, for sure, always adds up.
But once, like me, Imy bag has been complete. I throw.

(40:12):
I have twenty two discs in mybag when I go out and play
like a random round. I've beenthrowing the same discs for about seven years.
It took me a while. I'vebeen playing seventeen years, but it
took me a while to like perfectmy bag exactly where I want it.
Certain discs are certain plastics. There'sdifferent grades of feet in I sat like
that they're wearing tear on them, something a little easier than others. Yeah,

(40:35):
depending on the plastic. You know, the plastics range from sixteen bucks
to thirty five bucks depending on theYeah, what you get what you paid
for, you know, the cheapplastic. You get the cheap plastic.
It won't Yeah, yeah, itwon't last as long. Yeah, exactly
what you mean. But I haveI have discs in my bag that are
thirteen years old that I will replaceit with anything. And I have a

(40:57):
couple of discs that are maybe ayear or two old that I threw a
couple of times. Yeah, butyou know, you switch it out in
here, and then there's bags, you know, you need to carry all
those. Yeah, brand brought thatcart that pool behind the cart because you
can't know that you can't get thispool car, you know. And it's
just like any other sport, anyother hobby. You know, you get

(41:22):
out of it what you put intoit. Yeah, that's cool, that's
cool. How often how often doyou play, you know now that you
don't that you know now you're aninstructor and you're running the shop. So
I own design and run the shopand course. And I played two rounds
this year. Wow. Wow.I play a lot of the TV course

(41:43):
because I do. We do campsand we do we do camps and we
do clinics for kids from school stuff. So I played with them every once
in a while. And then whenI do the lessons, I play around
with the personal that's the lesson, and then you know, I'm shooting a
lot off the t pad on thefirst hole right there, just to give
like the lessons. So I stillget my practice and every once in a

(42:05):
while hopping a golf cart and shootup to like oh fourteen on my courses,
a one hundred foot down cliff shot. Right you're on top of the
cliffe. You shooting just one hundredfree straight down. So I'll go up
there with a couple of discs justpractice that shot. So I still throw
the disc. Yeah, you know, my favorite team to do honesty and
just watch the disc flyde like it'sjust it's like therapeutic, yeah, therapeutic.

(42:29):
Yeah, that's that's your getaway that'syour getaway. So one of my
favorite things to do actually is whenI see somebody throw out trying to guess
their disc and I'm like, youknow, like eighty percent. Now I
used to be really good, Butwhat do you mean by guess the disc?
Well, there's different they all havedifferent names. Okay, okay,
watch it. That's a hex hexhex is the mid range driver has a

(42:50):
five glide. Uh. I meanI was gonna be a five speed with
a four glides. So it's aspeed five disc. But it's like you're
in the middle of the pack kindof disk. It's great for shaping things.
Are just taking a nice approach shotand have it delive and PLoP down
and not roll off or something likethat. So I'll get out there with
a well ad medi with admitte yahyea yeah, I'm trying to get the

(43:12):
linco. Just take shouts and Istill get to throw. But I haven't
played food rounds for quite a longtime. I haven't played the course in
quite a long time. You're busy. Yeah, you're running the course.
Yeah, got your lessons? Fortyacres. My partner mos it. We
clean it up, We do lessonsand run the shop and yeah, so

(43:34):
that's awesome. That's awesome. Ofcourse, make have you played? That
was my other questions. Have youplayed in any other courses? Well,
the main course, the one inPasadena, I have not played any of
the ones that you mentioned. Haveplayed at Maple Hill, which is the
number one ranked disc golf course inthe world for twenty years. It's in

(43:58):
Lancaster, mass That's not a fardriving hour and twenty maybe not I thirty,
but that has been the number onerated disc golf course five six years
in the world. Smugs. IVermont is another highly rated disc golf course
in New England. And that's whatkind of short cuts me. That's where

(44:20):
I get the bad end of thestick is here in New England we have
two of the top disc golf coursesin the world. Yeah, people travel
and set their vacations around these twodisc golf courses and really smack in the
middle of them. We're not knownyet, but people aren't taking vacations to
come to my spot just yet.You know what I mean? That happen.

(44:43):
It's tough when you got you know, I'm trying to get on the
pro tour. I was trying toget my course on the pro tour and
get the post to come in becauseonce you get the pros, just like
you know, if you build it, they would come. It's like that
movie we built that they're coming. We need pros to promote it and kind
of show for sure that. Sowe had a couple pros that came out
and played, Simon and Zapp beingone of them. He's like one of

(45:05):
the most famous YouTube disc golfers. So I'll definitely check that out. Simon
say, really really dope, andI think he's gone over to two hundred
and fifty thousand view members or subscribers. Yeah, subscribers. Maybe even happened.
Man, I think he's like fivehundred thousan or something like that.
But he's he's big, you know, disc golf pig, I should say.

(45:27):
But he came out to our course. Still five hundred five hundred case
subscribers. It's a big deal,man, I don't care what you do.
That's a lot. It's a lot. That's a lot. So he
came out and you know, hedid a little his little blog and stuff,
and then you know he put uson the map for a little bit.
But that was right. Have anyt pads. Okay, it was
like literally like he literally came thefirst day we put the baskets in.

(45:47):
Oh yeah, it was just likekissing me. It was crazy because like
the way the whole thing happened, that was a whole that's a whole nother
whole another hour podcast. Yeah. But yeah, So if we get the
back of the pros, then weget people who are curious and want to
see how they compare to the pro. You know what I mean, get

(46:07):
the proto play. He puts uphis score and everybody's like me, see
if I could beat that? Yeahfor sure. That that's how you bring
people, and that'd be awesome. You know, we we do. We
try to run little things and getpeople to come out and do things.
But it's taking time and we'll getthem out there. But I was saying,
it's hard to get the pro tourout here when they already have on
tour Maple Hill, the number onerated, Smugs two or three rated.

(46:30):
They already placed two of their biggestchampionships there. So for me to get
a tournament somewhere in between on thetiming, the dates and whatnot and stuff
we're trying to work. Oh you'lldefinitely get it. You definitely get it.
That's awesome. There's something else Ihad to ask. I forget where

(46:52):
is it? I had something here? I lost it? Do you have
any family play? Your daughter's play? Does? Does she play? She
is? She at least somewhat interestedinto into it now. So my daughter,
my fourteen year old daughter runs myshop for me at times. That's

(47:15):
awesome. I'm pretty thankful that that'shelped her kind of break out her show
and be social and I have todeal with people. Okay, Yeah,
that's cool. My first marriage ispretty much ruined by this golf, I
think, you know, and thesecond one is a little better. I
guess second marriage is doing a littlebit better. But no, this golf

(47:37):
disc golf in my family. I'mthe only person that I know in my
family that plays this golf. Okay, mother, father, both sides.
Yeah, maybe I'll get you out. I definitely want to give it a
shot. You know, I'm notafraid trying. I can't play basketball forever.
I'm already on the older side,so I'm still able to play until
I'm not able to play years ago. When you guys still invite me to
the play basketball, you guys playingand I mean, yeah, for sure,

(48:05):
no later thirties. I'm in mylater thirties. So imagine you guys
be playing basketball. Yeah, Ican remember a few times you played with
us. Yeah, it's definitely different. It's definitely yeah. That's I mean,
that's how I am now. Man. It's like, I'm glad I'm
still able to play, so Iknow it's not gonna last forever. So

(48:29):
I'm definitely looking into something else Ican't do. And I know golf is
expensive. I have friends that playgolf, and I'm not really interested in
the regular golf. I'll tell youwhat disc golf is. Our generations,
our age groups, you know, yeah, ten years, our age groups
golf it is. It is thenew age golf. I have people coming
over doing business meetings on my discgolf course. Then we're having a company

(48:52):
team building events. We have, like I said, the summer camps.
We have clinics and people come outhere and they actually like said business meetings
like they do on a regular ballgolf course. You're gonna go, let's
go for a business golf out. They're having at the disc golf course.
And it's happened because the younger orolder generation. Just our generation needed something,

(49:17):
yeah different. So a lot ofdeals are getting broken on the discolf
course. That's pretty when think aboutit like that, that's that's freaking pretty
freaking cool like that that that stuffhappens for your We just said it.
Like the summer camps or the littlecamps that you guys do, there are
an age limit or age group. You guys tend to anything under. I

(49:39):
believe we're up to fourteen. Fromeight to fourteen something to fourteen. That's
pretty good. This. Yeah,we we offer it to every town and
the surrounding towns. And we evenput it up on Facebook. So if
you wanted to sign up, youcan't. It's gonna take the drive off.
Follow the tower Ridge Facebook page istower Ridge, this course, this

(50:00):
golf course, disc golf Course CA. Okay, it's on Facebook. We're
on Instagram is t r d GUnderscore. Okay, make sure I follow
off and spread the words, youknow, get the wee people to come
out there. I definitely want togo. Guys at work that definitely play
and they said they've you know, popped up at the shop a few times.

(50:22):
That's awesome. I definitely want togo there, so I might make
it a group thing. Go there. Either make it a group thing like
a company outing, or I wastelling you before. It's a great family
atmosphere place to go hang out.So the beer garden is not just beerd
like I said. They have food. They have drinks for kids, but
they got pretzels, wings, allteche and they have outdoor and indoor seating,

(50:43):
so they got picnic tables and relaxingchairs outside. You can hear the
music on the inside of the outside. So you're gonna come out there.
Make it a day. Come outthere, play some disc golf during the
day, hit the beer garden inan afternoon, some music throughout the whole
day. They have live music atnight. It's super du It sounds like
a great spots and chill and stuff. Do you guys do like someone to

(51:04):
do a birthday there? Some birthdaysat the weddings at the Stags weddings.
Really somebody got married on whole tenright up there right So they were disc
golfers who you know, have metthis golfer. They played my course,
and my course has some amazing views. You go up high as three bitches.
At one point you can see thewhole Batty, the whole formative Valdy,
the that I definitely want to see. Yeah, for sure, it's

(51:24):
amazing. Oh that's awesome. Youguys. People get married up there,
birthday parties stags, they say,tag parties nice. That's awesome. And
actually have a Jack and Jill comingup May eleventh that they're coming out.
They disc golfers. They're gonna havea little Jack and Jill uh disc golf
outing. And we have a basketparty coming up and a month and a

(51:47):
half. That's pretty dope. Andthey have a company outing coming up on
Wednesday, May say eighth. It'se Bad Bad is the name of the
company. Really, you know what'sfunny? That's hilarious. And I think
that's fucking hilarious because and only Johnnyand Nick, my brothers, are gonna

(52:08):
get this. We used to playgames in our early childhood with your brother,
little brother Eric, and he usedto be with us, and I
always used to be nice and Istill am obviously, and him Eric,
as a joke, would always putme bad. I saw it. It's
so funny. Man, he's badall the time. And if he hears

(52:29):
this, that's gonna he's gonna laughbecause he remember, I know he remembers
doing that. He used to belike, I'm bad because I used to
be nice. So that company there, it's just hilarious. It's a little,
you know, little inside joke. It's gonna be hilarious. That's awesome.
Got that company and coming up.We like to do a lot of
the company. He was like,on Monday, just like you know,

(52:49):
walk off tournaments they have, likeyou know, we have to do the
same Mondays days. Our company peoplecome in on the teeth course tournaments you
have have your company go go stampedon the disc. Everybody gets this take
home the tournament super fun, reallyuh inclusive for all. Do you guys

(53:14):
do like leagues? I was curiousbecause starting at the in the May,
we're gonna restart o these but wedo singles these on Thursdays and then we
do doubles on Sundays on Sundays. Now, how to do those run at
night or day? Because thurday sodisc off, you know, unless you
have glow disco. My spot isthis funny? You mentioned night. I

(53:34):
mean most of golf you don't playKnight's gonna be the day disc lands,
But our teeth course, well, actually lighted up, light it up.
We light up the baskets and welight up the tee pass and you play
glow discolf. So we got that'sdifferent. Man, That's dope, so
awesome. You can look it offon my Instagram. You see a couple
of posts I made with the glowFrisbees and Super Dark. But you see
just the lit up relics for thediscs and they're just flying of the air

(54:00):
and you just see them. Youknow, Crash and chains ch are all
lit up. So it's super dark. It's moonlit. You know, we're
wide open, but it's dark andyou're playing at night in the super One
of the only places that offer forthose leads is it is it hard to
find people for the leads because youknow, you got people who work during
day. They get out at fiveo'clock. You know, our Thursday league
is a flex league, so it'sgoing on all day. Okay, so

(54:22):
as long as you have three peoplein your card and you go with at
least three people, you can scoreyou a round and it'll be scored on
you disc. You just does theseleagues to be scored on you disc and
it to be automatic and at theend of the day, who's ever played
score? So you got So it'snot like you go there, my three,
us your three and you're together. You can do it separate times,
Oh yeah, separate times. Ithas to be three people minimum on the

(54:44):
card to go out to play. Not playing against the three people, you're
playing against everyone the whole day.Okay, you can creak whatever. Three
people, at least three people tomake it legit. Okay, all three
people need to put up a score. They'll put up a score on you
disk. And at the end ofthe day, however, many people playing,
whether it be twenty thirty forty peopleplayed the best course get paid out
all through you this, but youdon't have to play it at the exact

(55:07):
same time like a tournament. Theylast a little longer, right, So
it's called a flex lee. Soyou can come in at eleven o'clock with
the group, or come in atthree o'clock in the afternoon with the group.
I still be competing towards the sametournament, or excuse me, towards
the same league payout, because thelease are basically just for payoffs, you
know what I mean? People themoney are they like, you know,

(55:29):
the last few weeks or months orjust like oh just oh okay, okay,
it's the daily flex state. Youcome in. If you put up
the best scot that day, youwin. Oh damn, that's pretty awesome.
So you go there and make somequick money if you get the best
scot obviously, but that's cool theway that it gets a quick cash payout.
There's actually a few rounders rounders, but the guys come out there and

(55:51):
just like in poker, you guysthat run from you know, the league
from they've run from league to leagueevery week and they just play leads and
yeah, go up there and moneyand they make their living off or jumping
around from lead to lead, justlike rounders and poker players go from from
table to table game. They jumpmake the little money here, a little
money there. These these you know, local discoffers go to the leagues and

(56:14):
there's a league literally running every singleday Monday through Friday's a league running out
a different course. They may tallyou full time job almost you know,
it makes some good money. What'syour payout on just average average how many
people played, But it could bea couple hundred bucks o nice hundred bucks
depending on the league. It's eitherfive bucks or ten bucks per person,

(56:35):
and it's a complete payout. Nobody'smaking any money but the person who wins.
Oh ten people playing, that's onhundred bucks. They play the top
three, you know, twenty thirtyforty people playing some good money right there.
And then what they do also dois they have a running ace pop
right, So everybody puts in abuck every time you play to try to
get the ace. Whoever hits theace wins the pop Patska and as high

(56:58):
as five hundred bucks from all yours. Wow, my ace. My biggest
ace wind was Page Park two thousandand I want to say seventeen and it
was a four just under for itwas like three hundred and So how long
did that pot grow? Because it'sa dollar a day or dollar per play

(57:20):
or per round per round, okay, okay, so that powers up for
a while. Then, yeah, gru for a while because nobody, I
mean, you don't throw every day. Yeah exactly, that's rare, like
a hold of one, almost exactlywhat it is, yeah, one.
So I think that the pot wasrunning for a couple of months. The
pot was running ten to twenty peoplea weekly league, and you go in

(57:40):
and headed ace and you're good. That's gotta be a good feeling, man.
It times, but it is anamazing Yeah, it's the loudest change
you've ever heard in your life,so crash of the ace. You have
never heard the sound of the changeany louder. You know what that means

(58:00):
when you go out there and playand you take your first part and you
hear the clan, Yeah, dishits it. You know exactly what I
mean. Was gonna be the loudestchange. I was my furthest one is
almost four hundred feet and that wasone of the loudest changes I've ever heard,
and it was so far away.Yeah, yeah, that's a good

(58:21):
thing. Like, yeah, Idid that. I did that absolutely.
So it's against Tower Ridge, Uh, disc golf over in Uh what do
you what do you guys call it? We talk, right, that's what
you guys call and we talk.Yeah. County is right at the bottom
of the mountain. A nice niceI'm not gonna make my way out there,
man, because I definitely want totry it again. I've never tried

(58:43):
it, and I know you've beenplaying since nine really it's been a minute,
So I definitely want to give ita shot. Go out there,
Towerridge Disc Golf avon Connectic if youguys don't know, they have a Facebook
page tower Ridge Disc Golf. Uhwhat was the Instagram again? Forget t
r D the initial guitar underscorecore.I'm so slow. I didn't put that

(59:12):
together. But that's dope as hell. Man, Go there, have a
couple of drinks and then give ita shot. You never know might end
up that's awesome. Anybody ever realquick before we before we finish up here,
anybody ever come there play and justI know happy get wore as a

(59:34):
movie, but anybody come there andjust be like happy good one. They
were just like amazing their first try, like throwing really long you know drives
or that's what I'm saying, Likejust like you, just like you're basically
did the same thing. No,I I haven't gotten a chance to see
anybody be super incredible, but Ido. I have seen a couple of
kids come up and be naturally talented. Yeah, which is like one of

(59:59):
our locals, a daughter, shethrows for being an eleven year old girl
throws amazing. Her form is unreal. You'd think she was doing this and
she was a kid. Yeah, and she picked up the disc and through
it and my mouth dropped. Iwas like, wow, you can be
a world champion if you want.Yeah, that's an alley and Stepa Kyle

(01:00:23):
ended up on our team. Sowe have there's a there's a league.
There's a whole whole different thing thatNew England has a whole Team Challenge League
that over two thousand people playing throughoutthe winter, the winter winter, my
guy race or snow. These teamsare driving to play once. They play

(01:00:45):
six games once a month versus differentteams. There's a pool through D pool
and the PI P pool. Soin the A pool there's sixteen teams and
every other pool under that has thirtytwo cus. How many people are playing
right now in the winter just forfun. That's insane. That's a lot

(01:01:07):
of people playing in the snow.Have you played any snow games, like,
at least any tournament games. Ican tell you something really. I
mean, I've played the Team Challengesince it first came out. I've been
playing when it was only six teams, and there's I can't even count thirty
thirty two roughly, you know, over one hundred teams. That's insane.

(01:01:28):
How many people per team? Ohmy god, So you're talking thousands of
people basically almost hundreds of people roughlypeople. It's a lot. That's a
lot. That's awesome. But yeah, so her parents, Kyle frequent my
spot. They ended up on myteam. Yeah, that's like the one

(01:01:51):
thing that's ever made me drop myjob was how great that living? Your
old girl picked up and just threwthat disk and consistently kept doing it,
and they keep playing it and sheso it wasn't like luck of the drawing
the first time. So she's justnaturally gifted. Naturally she just grabbed it
and I'm like, whoa, She'sdone that before. It again. She
did it again, and I'm like, hold on, do that again.

(01:02:15):
I'm like uh I And then Kyleand I said, like, she could
legit be a world champion. Yeah, if she her minds to it.
Yeah for sure. Yeah. Yeah, she's doing it for fun exactly exactly.
She comes out there, she shekicks up man, and she did.
She did one of our camps withthe kids. Yeah, and she

(01:02:36):
was demol the boys. Nice. That's awesome. It's good to see.
That's good to see. So there'sdiversity, well, when you guys played
disc golf, because I, likeyou were saying earlier, you know,
it was quote unquote hippie sports. So it has been a male dominated sport
for many many years. Yeah,a white male domine for many many years.
Has been breaking, you know,it's been a lot of the barrier

(01:02:57):
has been breaking, and more andmore different ethnicities are coming out to play.
The women are coming out of play. My course especially, we get
a lot of women because it's notlike other courses, where other courses are
public and you can anybody could justbe anywhere. We have a private course's
gonna be on our course. Noone's gonna be stalking or doing crazy.

(01:03:21):
You're coming here, You're gonna feelsafe. And parents bring their kids to
our course and leave them there. They feel safe because they can't go anywhere.
That's awesome private to come in.They play their whole come pick us
up and that, come pick usup, and they do it all the
time. That's awesome. And they'llplay around by themselves and they tell me
all the time, man, Iwould not play around by myself anywhere else

(01:03:42):
in the state. I feel safehere. So that's really really good.
Plus, so the women that's reassuringtoo. Man. That's got to make
you feel good that you know yougot to save space. People could trust
you to be there, even leavethe kids there. That's gotta be an
amazing feeling. And another another plusthat we have is the wrest room.
So not too many courses in Connecticuthave a restroom where women come out.
They have to squat somewhere. Yeah, forgot to use the bathroom, yeah

(01:04:04):
for sure, behind a tree orsomething. Yeah, So they feel great
that they can stop and use therestroom. Halfway there's looping nines. Halfway
you can see the pro shops,so you'll stop halfway, use the rushroom,
and then go play the back okay, so you got it like a
spot at the beginning, and thenone of the ninth night you start off
hold one right by the shop. You play half half the whole. Whole

(01:04:25):
nine ends near the shop, soyou can stop, okay, go back.
Okay, you can go get abeer, use the restroom, and
then go play the back half.So there's looping nine, so if you
wanted to, you could go playhole ten first instead of hold one okay,
tent and then one through nine orthrough nine. So that way you're
right there close to the end,so you're not walking all the way back

(01:04:45):
or whatever the case is. Way. So most courses in Connecticut halfway whole
nine is halfway and the other directionof the parking lot playing nine holes without
having a walk halfway across the park. We specifically designed the core so that
there's looping nines. That's dope, man, that's cool. And course as
well. Yeah, that's cool. Our main, our main design. I

(01:05:09):
want to ask, how do youplay a round by yourself? You just
you know, you're just keep itscore. How you do it? That's
it just I mean, you're onlylying to yourself if you put a basket
right, yeah. Yeah, youjust go out there, throw your disc
wherever it lands your market, throwit from there and keep throwing in the
basket market and keep going. Imean, you just I've played thousands of
casual rounds by myself. I've gottenaces by myself those because no one's throw

(01:05:34):
yourself. You're like yourself, putyourself on the back, you know,
you know what I mean. Youknow I've actually got quite so you have
some of those that are counted inyour aces or they're all counting. No,
No, for sure, yeah, yeah, for sure. Again,

(01:05:55):
if you're only going to yourself,my guy, Yeah, yourself, you're
gonna you're gonna say that you tooka birdie when you took a part.
There's some people out there that woulddefinitely do that. Yeah, you know
what I'm saying. It is whatit is. You can write whatever score
you want. Yeah, you knowwhat it is. You know who you're
gonna write that for. When itwas really a seven? You sure you

(01:06:16):
know you didn't got what you want. It's all good, you know what
I mean? Sure you had anace on every single hole, you liar
exactly. But yeah, it's uhyeah, I've got a question on my
aces too, But luckily I've hadproof. I got I recorded around.
Okay, so I got a fewrecorded aces and stuff like that. I
got a few aces with a bunchof people around. And then the one

(01:06:36):
that is pretty dope, So liketwelve people saw that when happened, that
was pretty dope. No, that'sgotta be awesome. Did you do you
share those social media's? Your aces? Do you guys share stuff like that?
Everybody? There's a lot of everybodyput something whatever they do about this
golfee personally I'm not that. Yeah, I don't share that. I'm pretty

(01:06:58):
private. I do share a loton my on the tarbage side of things,
when it comes to disc off andwith the with the course and the
shop, I'm always posting on there. You guys have any questions, set
us up. We'll definitely answer.Instagram, I put up all those videos
myself. I make the videos andput them up myself. But as far
as like personal, I'm not reallytoo much into that. I don't put
up too much of my own acesor too much of my own Okay,

(01:07:21):
Yeah. It was more of aquestion of the at the shop. Ye,
the shop as a whole, youknow, sharing their you know,
videos on their Instagram. So they'llshare their stories and we put them on
our on our okay sure, okay, it would be like either their holding
ones or their eagles or their greatdrive on on the part five. So
whatever they put up, we'll shareit on our page. And I always

(01:07:43):
show up to. One question Ihad is when you guys do your tournaments
or stuff, you guys have camerason the I guess the cage to show
like, you know, like thedifferent view of it coming in, you
know, possibly you know, headingin our tournaments. Know, that's a
little bit more or updated and more, you know, for for for the
masses of like the discof Tour, there isn't there isn't one in the basket

(01:08:06):
yet, which is a great idea. It'll be really cool, but it's
no matter what, it's always gonnabecome. Basically, for one direction of
there might come from behind a littlebit of curling from the side. Most
of the views that you get isusually from behind the thrower, okay,
And then they got the the thedrones. Now, yeah, I was
gonna say the drones overview is reallydopey when and of course like ours,

(01:08:30):
it's easy most of the courses, that's what it is. Tough to get
those drones in there and get likean accum accurate kind of like to be
able to fly in and get exactlyquite open like that. Yeah. Just
recently they added that to the ProTour and the disc Golf Network on TV,
and the overviews look really dope. You see the full flight of the
tasks landing and they even have aceand you know with the drove foot is

(01:08:56):
just pretty because that's how I sawone where there was just a camera you
can see it was, you know, covering a wide range area of the
cage where it's at. I forgotwhich hole it was or whatever the case
was, but it was cool. You just saw it's just the cameras focused
on the case. You just seethe disc coming in. It just hit
itself. Yeah. Yeah, thosethose set cameras are something new that they
just started doing. It's like whatthey call it the featured hole. Okay,

(01:09:20):
yeah, yeah, something like that. It's a featured hole and that
they just had that camera plane allday on that hole because it's like either
the most aste or the most almosttaste hole, so you'll be able to
They have two cameras, one atthe set at the t box and one
set at the pin and so they'llhave stuff like that. And that's that's
all new stuff that's been added onto like the network and stuff. But
then they've come along with they gotinstant replaying now, which is super dope.

(01:09:43):
Nice. They didn't have the lastcouple of years. Now i've been
watching, they got instant replay soinstantly, just like you know, that's
why football. Yeah, yeah, they're started to you know, they're starting
to come up the challenge plays andstuff like that. But they there foot
falls and there's there's all types oflittle things that they that goes into it
go into the which is kind ofcool. Yeah, check it out.

(01:10:06):
It's pretty dope. That's dope.I had a follow up question. I
was literally just lost train of thought. It was with the with the damn
it. I hate when I dothat. I write some stuff down because
I had to follow up to whatwe were just talking about the tour from
the just the it was the cameraviews, reviews of the holes. It

(01:10:30):
slipped my mind. It was Iwas ready to launch it and we just
kept going and I was like, god, damn it. So anyway,
Tyl Ridge disc off. Guys,if you listen to this podcast, appreciate
you listening to. Obviously, Healtypodcast is on Facebook, not yet on

you know X or whatever. Ridiculous. Now we're gonna lose TikTok. You
heard that one. Yeah, thegovernment passed a bill to ban TikTok,

(01:11:15):
so if someone doesn't buy it.TikTok is banned in the US because of
the China and they think they're spyingon us, taking our info. And
I think it's been somewhat proven whatever. I don't know the details, but
if someone doesn't buy it within ayear, is banned in the US.
And the owner of TikTok was like, that's fine. I'm not gonna sell

(01:11:36):
it every in every other country inthe world, just TikTok. We're still
making a ton of money on it. So if we just lose the US,
he's still gonna have millions and millionsof people. So Hefty podcast is
on TikTok as well for now.For now, we'll see what happens,
