Speaker 1 (00:00):
Greetings and welcome to the broadcast. Well, I've been notably
absent for a few weeks, kind of taking a little
bit of a hiatus here from the podcast to finish
up my latest book, which I've been writing for probably
the last two years, which is a book on the

(00:21):
Apollo moon landings, and it's going to be released within
the next couple of weeks, so it's just about said
and done. It's quite a book. It's going to be
almost six hundred pages long, with three hundred photographs and
illustrations and diagrams that were gracefully provided by NASA. As

(00:44):
I said, the book covers the history of the Apollo
moon landings and there's also a chapter where I debunk
the idiocy of the moon landing hoax conspiracy theorists. So
that makes an enjoyable touch for me. It does, so
when the book comes out, please feel free to check
it out. I think you'll enjoy it. But moving right along,

(01:07):
let me let me start off here with one of
my favorite subjects, and that is fast food, in particular
McDonald's the Clown Cuisine, and this involves a recent experience
with a friend and myself who stopped at the McDonald's
on Route fifteen in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. And it was a

(01:34):
strange It was a strange situation. It was in the morning.
We stopped in there, went to the drive up, and
of course, you know at McDonald's every time you go
to the drive up, they ask you if you're using
the mobile app. Now, my friend isn't exactly technologically savvy,
so she doesn't use apps of any kind as a rule,
and she is tired of them constantly asking if she

(01:58):
has the mobile app when she doesn't, so she when
the when the person at the window had asked this
through the intercom, my friend replied by saying, no, I
don't have it, we should stop asking me, to which
case some guy gets on the intercom and replies that,
well they have to ask, and my my friend's like, well,

(02:18):
I don't care what you have to ask. And next thing,
you know, this guy says, well, you could just leave
and go. So my friend says, okay, fuck you. I
don't want your shitty food. Anyways, and we we drive off.
As we're going around the building, we passed by the
drive through window. This this guy yells out, Oh, you're

(02:41):
really bad people. So I'd like to know how some
idiot who works the drive up at McDonald's suddenly can
pass judgment on people that he doesn't even know, yelling
out or your bad people. Now, this clown should be

(03:04):
fired on the spot for doing something like that. There's
no call for that, you know. I know these days
in working with the public, there are times when you
know you want to go berserk, but this was not
one of them, and just yell out that were really
bad people. No, no, no, no no. He shouldn't have

(03:25):
a job, plain and simple. And so I told my
friend stopped because I went in. I wanted to get
the name of the district manager, name and phone number.
So I went in there, and this clown wouldn't he
He didn't even have the guts to come up to
the counter and talk to me. He hid back by
the friar. You know, he's back there hiding. You know,
he's a big shot when he's yelling out the window,

(03:46):
but when you come in to confront them, you know,
he doesn't want to do nothing. So and none of
them waited on me inside, and I was just looking
to get the name and number of the district manager.
Report this clown, which he don't want helped me, so
I just left because we had other things to But again,
you know the quality. This is not the first time
that there's been issues with McDonald's. All I can say

(04:08):
is somewhere Ray Kroc is rolling over in his grave.
He was a stickler for having a certain way of
dealing with the customers and this is not the way,
all right. So let me just say this, if you
find yourself in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, do not, I repeat, do

(04:29):
not go to the McDonald's on Route fifteen, the one
right next to Advance Autoparts, because I'm sure they'll call
you a bad person if you disagree with them. So
just saying, just saying. So now many of us know
what it's like to drive through traffic, and God only

(04:49):
knows here in the area of York, Pennsylvania, south central Pennsylvania,
there's a lot of traffic, more traffic than there has
to be. But that's the result of pisspoor planning and
building and laying out the roads here over the years.
But that's that's a story for another day. But if
you ever been sitting in a light and it's like
somebody in front of you and the light is still
read and they're inching forward. They keep inching forward to

(05:11):
the point where they're almost out in the middle of
the intersection. At the rate they're going, you know, they
just can't wait to step on the gas and go.
And then finally when the light turns green, they don't move.
They just sit there. It's like, what the hell? You
couldn't wait. You kept inching, kept going further and further,
up further, and then all of a sudden, it's time

(05:34):
to go and you stop. What What the hell? What
is there some sort of brain hand disconnect or something.
What's going on with that? I mean, there's a lot
of shitty drivers around here, especially in this area, but
it's it's like, I don't know, there's something else going
on here, that phenomenon that needs explained. Why they do that? Well,

(05:55):
it is that time of the year again, all the uh,
all the VBS classes or in session at the churches
and whatnot here in south central Pennsylvania, and they all
have their little signs out in the front with their
different themed vbs. There is one, however, that kind of

(06:16):
caught my eye in more ways than one, and some
vbs related to Jonah and for those of us who
all know you know, Jonah was allegedly swallowed by a whale.
But here's the interesting thing. If you want to take
a look at this in somewhat of a factual context,

(06:37):
and a lot of your heavy Christians are not interested
in facts when it comes to their religious beliefs and whatnot.
The sign for this VBS for Jonah has a drawing
of what looks like a megalodon shark, which, as you

(06:59):
prob I know, megalodons were prehistoric sharks which were christ
They're upwards like one hundred foot long, they were huge.
And that is actually not if there was a Jonah. Okay,
let's step back and say, let's you know this story
was actually true. Right, Let's suppose for a minute, Well,
there's no way that a whale can swallow a human.

(07:22):
It is physically impossible for a whale. Their throats are
too small to swallow a human whole, unless you're dealing
with like a midget or something. I don't know. But
in this case, this sign for this VBS may actually
be correct because a lot of people have theorize that
perhaps megalodons are not extinct, and if the story of

(07:44):
Jonah was true, then in fact, this dude was swallowed
by a megalodon, not a whale, and it's like, you
know what, there is a certain amount of possible truth
in the way they depicted this VBS class with showing
a megalod on, which I found kind of interesting. I
don't know whether they did that accidentally or where there

(08:07):
was a certain amount of thought that went into that,
because they're somewhat straying from the Biblical account of it
the creature being a whale. Now I know I'm rambling
again in a nonsensical way, but I thought I would
just share that and throw that out and see if
anyone agrees with me, or doesn't agree with may or

(08:27):
it feels that I should be committed to a facility
somewhere for a while. But moving right along, I would
like to share a story that came across the other day.
I was cruising through some of the old headlines and
there was this incident that occurred back in January at

(08:48):
a Vietnamese restaurant out in San Jose, California, and looking
at the surveillance video inside the restaurant of what occurred,
it was actually kind of hilarious. It would have it
would appear that this guy comes in. He he asked
to use the restroom, and then he proceeds to try

(09:09):
to steal one of the three robotic waiters that work
in the restaurant serving food. Now, some restaurants have these
these robots that go around giving the patrons their food.
This guy tried to steal one of the robots. So
in the video you can see him clearly struggling with

(09:29):
the weight of the robot as he tries to drag
it out of the restaurant. So eventually the employees managed
to stop him and and and wrestle the robot away
from him. So and the robot was soon back to
work after the incident and was relatively unharmed. The police

(09:50):
were called and the man was arrested for I guess
attempted the robot kidnapping or something. But here's the question,
why what did this guy think he was going to
gain by taking his robart. According to the owner of
the restaurant, the programming of this machine is so sophisticated
that it will not work outside of the confines of

(10:12):
the restaurant. So if he was hoping to have someone
to or something to wait on him hand and foot,
at home. Well, that wasn't gonna happen, or maybe he
was hoping the robotrovide him with other favors. Oh yeah,
But what the hell is this guy think in front
of all the patrons, in front of everyone there, he
tries to wrestle this heavy machine out the door. So

(10:37):
and it seemed like really Noah was making an urgent
attempt to stop him, at least it looked that way
in the video. Now I can tell you yet, Vietnamese food,
especially the Foe soup, is very hot when you get it,
and I mean hot as far as in temperature, not spice.
So the quickest way that they could have stopped this

(11:01):
guy would be to take a bowl of that soup
and dump it on his head. I guarantee that would
have stopped him right in his tracks. So, but you
got to question, is this like complete stupidity? And you know,
crooks are not getting any smarter all right, Well, people
as a rule aren't getting any smarter. Most there are

(11:23):
many people out there that are as dumb as shit, right,
But did he honestly think that he's just gonna be
able to take and grab and go with this thing
out the door? I don't know. I just don't know that.
This is why I'm very concerned about the future of
the human species overall, if you get my drift just

(11:46):
saying so. Anyways, let us move on to some news
from the world of Trump, one of my favorite subjects,
of course. The Iranians announced that they are plotting to
assassinate Trump by using a drone to attack him while

(12:11):
he is sunbathing at Mara A Lago. Now, there is
nothing at all funny about an assassination or an assassination attempt,
or a plot to do so. As most of you know,
I'm really no fan of Trump to begin with, but
this is no laughing matter. But only the Iranians could

(12:32):
come up with a plot to kill somebody while they're
laying out working on their tan Of Course, my question,
I guess they're watching Trump or whatever, because how do
they know he lays out and does his tanning at
Mara A Lago. Perhaps they're using a submarine and watching
him from the coast or something. Of course, I would

(12:54):
imagine an Iranian military submarine would be a submersible canoe
with a guy on board holding an extra long snorkel
that doubles as a periscope. Of course, I'm also surprised
that they're even publicly coming out with this statement about

(13:15):
this assassination plot, which obviously they've thought through very well.
And the fact that Trump is just looking for a
reason to nuke every single one of those people over there,
so it wouldn't take much to push the button with
his mindset. And here they are just very happily announcing

(13:38):
their plans to the whole world. Of course, all of
this is in response to Trump's recent attacks upon Iran
to take out their alleged nuclear capabilities, and they have
countered with this absolutely diabolical, silly and stupid plan of theirs.

(14:02):
But here air is the bottom line. It's just all
part of the very fucked up world that we live in.
But speaking of Trump, recently he released an AI created
video of former President Obama getting arrested for whatever reason.

(14:24):
You know, Trump's always on this, you know, rant of
having everyone arrested. And after the video was released, he
made the comment to the press that you know, nobody
is above the law. Okay, So here we have the

(14:48):
Trump who is a convicted felon and he used the
presidency to get out of going to prison and he's
telling us that as far as like his AI video
of Obama getting taken away in handcuffs, that nobody is

(15:10):
above the law. Okay, I'm I'm not following the fucked
up logic here. I mean, I'm I'm maybe I'm missing something,
maybe something just eluding me about this, But it would
seem to me that Trump is probably the ultimate example

(15:32):
of somebody who is above the law. Okay, So you
have to love the double standard, two phase hypocrisy here
of this entire situation. I don't know whether he just
does this to get a rise out of people, or

(15:53):
whether he is just delusional to his own situation which
I just mentioned and the fact that he just keeps
pushing for everyone else to go to prison. Oh you know,
but here's here's the other side of the coin, at
least from the way I see it, in that you
know obviously that this administration is slowly but surely destroying

(16:18):
this country. At the very least, he's gonna set us
back years. As the one gentleman from Harvard recently said,
it could take years or decades to repair the damage
that Trump is gonna do. But we're, you know, we're
privileged to get this ongoing clown show UH that accompanies

(16:40):
the UH, the complete disastrous before unfolding before us as
a nation. There is really nothing funny in the way
that things are going, and Trump has yet to tackle it,
really any of there is pressing issues, and gas prices

(17:02):
are still sky high. There's still a whole bunch of
other issues with healthcare and whatnot in this country, which
he's not addressed. I mean, it's just been all this,
this vindictive vendetta of tariffs and punishing people and going
after people and whatnot. Then there's the environment of hate

(17:23):
that is manifesting itself with the deportations and the resulting
police action against people, the protests. It just it's not good. Okay,
He's not putting this nation in the right direction because,
very simple, he doesn't know how to. Okay, contrary to

(17:44):
what his die had supporters think of him, he's not
doing the job that he a promised to do or
is supposed to be doing. So instead of making stupid
AI videos of former presidents getting arrested, why doesn't he
focus on the important shit okay, stuff that matters to

(18:08):
most of us who were reasonable and rational and don't
live in this little fantasy world that he seems to
create it, and he believes this will pass as his
great legacy as a president, because no, it doesn't, and
it won't. But and so it goes moving along. Here,

(18:34):
I want to touch on this little story that I
read the other day concerning a teenage girl over in
England who was wearing a T shirt that read something
to the effect of fuck off. A woman who was
out and about with her seven year old child took

(18:56):
offense to this. She didn't say anything to the girl,
according to what I read, she and the girl actually
had a pleasant conversation about whatnot. But later the woman
posted online how offensive this was and she thought that
her child should be subjected to this, because afterwards the

(19:17):
child had asked about the girl's shirt, and the woman
had stated online that she felt that shirts like this
should be banned in public. Well, that might be the case,
but that is a very slippery slope that falls into
the realm of freedom of speech and expression and whatnot. Now,

(19:38):
I'm not sure what sort of laws that England has
concerning such matters, but I know here in the US,
freedom of speech is one of the cornerstones of our democracy,
at least it was. It's rapidly eroding here. But anyways,
you know, there are plenty of things that I see
out in the world that offend me. And I've seen

(19:59):
t shirt particularly those worn by gun supporters and whatnot
that offend me. I don't like them, but you know what,
that's the person's right to wear said shirt and express
said feelings on any given subject. If you start banning

(20:20):
people from wearing certain things, then you're knocking on the
door of censorship, and that's not a good thing. Let's
put it this way. There's something out there that's gonna
offend somebody, especially in our hyper sense of the world
in which we live nowadays, but you can't go banning it.

(20:41):
And the thing of it is, so many people in
the world, when they converse or attempt to converse, will
drop the F bomb every other word to the point where, okay, now,
all right, you don't need to do that to get
your point across, But they do, and I will admit
I'm guilty of that myself on occasion, as you know

(21:02):
here on the podcast. Nonetheless, many people use the word
in abundance. And of course, if you're going to start
banning certain articles of clothing because it's offensive. Well, where
does that stop? Again? This is a slippery slope once
you start with this. You know, next thing, you know,

(21:23):
some other person with a shirt that says something that's
gonna offend somebody's that's gonna get banned too. It's a
vicious little circle where before you know it, we're not
allowed to say anything, which, of course we're rapidly getting
to that point anyways, Let's not speed up the process,
all right. Also, there there are so many serious problems

(21:46):
in the world right now, especially in this country, with
the you know, getting back to Trump, with the mayhem
that the Trump administration is causing in so many areas.
Do we really need to be concerned about a phrase
or expression on somebody's T shirt? I don't think so.

(22:06):
They're far more pressing matters right now that we need
to worry about than something silly like that. Okay, that's
what it comes down to. It's silly, it's nitpicking, it's
being overly sensitive. And here it falls back to you know,
so many people now, well I don't want my child
exposed to that. Well maybe you don't, but for many

(22:28):
of us who are adults, myself included, I don't really
give a rats ass what offends your child. Okay, I'm
sure your child is going to grow up to be
a perfectly normal human being despite the fact that they
saw a T shirt with the F bomb on it.
All right, it's not the end of the world. And

(22:49):
if it's that much of a sensitivity issue, then maybe
you shouldn't take your kid out at all. Just leave
the kid home, locking a in a secure room that
is noise proof and and completely obstructed to anything that
might be offensive to the poor little brat. But getting
back to the central point here, because I'm once again
rambling and straying like a deranged lunatic. You can't start

(23:14):
restricting everything that offends you because then you fall into
the censorship trap. And this is a subject that really
burns my ass, you know. Like I said, everything offends somebody,
myself included. But you know what, if you want to
wear that T shirt, then fine whatever. I don't care.
And we're losing more and more rights as it is

(23:34):
in this country every single day. Let's not make it
even worse yet. So on that note, I think it's
time for me to wrap up this little episode of
the podcast. I would like to thank you for taking
the time out of your busy day to listen. So
I know I've been notably absent. As I mentioned at

(23:57):
the beginning of the episode, I was finishing up my
Ladies book. Also, I had to go out for some surgery,
nothing too major. Everything came out relatively well from the
procedure and I'm doing fine, so all's good there. But
so anyways, please take the time to subscribe to this

(24:20):
wonderful auditory spectacle. It is free to do so, although
in most cases today you should view anything as free
with suspicion, but that's not the case here. So please
subscribe and continue to listen to me rant and rave
like the deranged idiot that I am. And until next time,

(24:43):
take care, be careful, try not to be offended by
anybody's T shirt out there, and have a good one.
So long for now, Bye bye,

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
