(00:02):
Do you know what momentum is.The definition of momentum, I looked it
up. It is the impetus gainedby a moving object, the impetus gained
by moving objects. So yeah,I dropped another word right in the middle
(00:25):
of its definition, impetus. SoI had to look up empetus. Impetus
force our energy with which a bodymoves, force our energy with which a
body moves, all coming together todefine momentum. And that's what I want
(00:45):
to talk about today, momentum.I'm back a woman's place. Girl,
get up and let's talk. Yes, that's what I want to talk about
(01:30):
today, momentum. And let metell you how this came about. Yesterday
I happened to be on Facebook anda live stream Facebook Live. One of
my Facebook book friends came on.Gentlemen by the name of Michael Dalton d
A L. T O N.Look him up on Facebook. Listen to
(01:53):
some of his Facebook lives. You'llbe blessed, you'll be encouraged, but
you will also be challenged. Anyway, I was listening to his broadcast and
as I was processing this idea ofmomentum, what has slowed you down?
(02:15):
The question came to me and I'mgoing to share it with you because I
think this is something we should allthink about and all process. What has
stopped you from being all that Godhas called you to be, from responding
(02:35):
to God's call to you? Whathas stopped you? What has kept you?
Stopped in your tracks from using thegift God has given you? Is
it fear? Well? I hearTimothy say, God has not given us
the spirit of fear, but apower love and a sound mind. Think
(02:58):
about that power love and a soundmind, meaning you're not here today,
there tomorrow, back and forth, back and forth, sound mind. Is
it insecurity? Well? We havethe Holy Spirit to empower us, to
enable us to move forward in thepurpose God has planted in us. And
(03:21):
I hear Paul say, I cando all things through Christ, which strengthens
me. And I often paraphrase thatI can do all things because Christ is
my strength, and it can alsobe translated I can endure all things because
Christ is my strength. Is itperfectionism? Perfectionism? I've heard perfectionism is
(03:50):
a trauma response. Nothing will everbe perfect, especially if God is not
in the mix. When you thinkabout fear, and when I think about
insecurity, another passage Paul's writings comesto me that I may be cast down,
(04:12):
but I'm not destroyed. I maybe persecuted, but I'm not forsaken.
I may be troubled, but I'mnot distressed. I may be perplexed,
but not in despair. Why becausemy hope is in God, who
(04:34):
has said I am His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus under good works which
God, our Father appointed beforehand. That guess for me, it's for you
as well. And it is Godwho plants in us both the desire and
(04:54):
the power to do that which hehas called us to do. So there
should be no reason why we're whywe're slowing down. Maybe though it's comparison
shopping. It's what I call comparisonshopping. We spend a lot of time
comparing ourselves to others. I couldnever be like that person. I could
(05:14):
never do it the way that persondoesn't. I could never move in the
same direction. No, you cannot. You know why, because you're not
that person. You're unique. You'reone of a kind. And even if
you did the same thing as thatperson over there, that person over there,
or that person in front of you, it would be different because you
(05:39):
bring you to the equation. Sowhat's stopping you? What's keeping you from
moving forward? Let's talk about trustfor a moment. I had a conversation
with a group of women last nightabout how do you define define trust?
(06:00):
Is trust? Like I hope foryou. I trust that I can do
this. I trust that God willhear me. I trust that I am
able to do. You know whathope is as we read it in the
Bible, It's confident expectation that Ican trust God to be God. I
(06:27):
can trust God to keep his word. When I know that God has called
me to a thing, that Ihave a passion for something, and I
believe that has been planted in meby God, then nothing should stop me
(06:48):
from moving forward to do that whichGod has called me to do, to
fulfill that purpose He has planted inme. So what's stopping me, I
would hazard to guess that's what's stoppingme is me going back to the fear,
(07:13):
the insecurity, the comparison shopping, the perfectionism. So what I want
to encourage you to do is tomake a T chart, lying across the
top, lying down the middle. On one side of that chart, put
prose on the other side. Ofthat chart. Put cons pros meaning this
(07:35):
is what's all good about it.Cons meaning m here are the issues,
Here are the liabilities. Here arethe things that are slowing me down.
Pros. These are the things thatare in place, These are the things
that I can do. These arethe things that I'm ready to tackle.
PROS. On the pro side, put God. Put God on the pro
(08:00):
side. On the con side, put me, me, myself and I
on the pro side, list allthe attributes of God and then began to
connect scriptures to those attributes. We'regot to talk about some of those attributes.
On the con side, the meside, put all the fears,
(08:22):
all the frustrations, all the doubts, everything that has stopped me, that
has slowed my momentum. And atthe top, put God is sovereign.
God is in control. God isin control. Psalm twenty four says the
(08:43):
earth is the Lord's and the fullnessthere of the world, and they that
dwell therein the earth is the lords. The fullness therein the world, and
they that dwell therein all of itbelongs to God. Another passage says,
hey, the capital of authosity belongedto God. God is sovereign, God
(09:05):
is in control. God had toremind the children of Israel when they were
going their own way to do theirown things after they broke into two kingdoms,
Israel and Judah. And Israel justhad no kings that were following after
God. And Judah had some kingsthat were we would call good kings who
set about to establish God's right torule in the kingdom. But there were
(09:33):
some things that slowed down the momentumof those people in the Kingdom of Judah.
And it was sin. It wasleaders who were leading them in the
wrong direction, leaders who were pouringinto them things that were not in alignment
(09:54):
with God's will. And we dothat to ourselves. We speak over ourselves
those things that are in direct contradictionto what God says about us. So
get your teach her it out onthe pro side God, and then underneath
(10:16):
God, let's just attributes. Doyou not know one of God's attributes is
that he is accessible. From thetime of the Garden of Eden, in
the cool of the evening, Adamwould have conversation with God. God made
himself accessible. He's creator. Weknow that in the beginning God created,
(10:43):
but when it came to man,he spoke that things came into existence,
but when it came to man,God scooped up dirt, and God involved,
intimately involved with creating man. Andthe call is now, because God
is accessible, because He has createdus to have connection and communion with him,
(11:03):
that we must strive for intentional fellowshipwith God. God is father,
he cares about us. He's concernedabout the things that concern us, and
he can perfect those things that concernedus. So while we are struggling and
wrestling with well, I can't dothis and I'm not like that, and
I don't have and let me justsay this, you will never have enough.
(11:28):
So don't even be concerned about that. Because God is all sufficient.
He is able to do exceeding abudgetlyabove all that we might ask to think.
But look, look, look, listen here, according to the power
that is in us, tap intothe power already placed in you when you
said yes to Jesus. So Godis accessible, He is creator, he
(11:52):
is father, he is faithful,He keeps his word, and therefore there
is no reason for us to beconcerned about what God thinks of how God
feels. He keeps his word, and so we are just moving forward momentum,
(12:13):
still pressing our way, not slowingdown, not stopping, because we
know God is faithful. Faithful ishe who will do it. He will
do all he has promised. Hewill care for us, he will strengthen
us, He will forgive us.He will sanctify us, make us knew,
(12:33):
He will protect and purify us.He had a plan from the beginning
of time to restore this broken world, and his plan is in place to
restore us. So God is faithful. God is God. God is provider.
He is the source. He's nota resource. He is the source.
(12:56):
All that we need is in him. So that kind of over the
fact that you say, I don'thave enough to do what God is calling
me to do. Really, butGod is God in control of all things
m so He is all sufficient. All sufficiency is in God, Provider,
(13:24):
all sufficient. You're concerned, youhave some fears about if I do this,
what will people think? What willpeople say? I'm going to ask
you the question, what does Godthink about where you are and how you're
moving forward or how you're just kindof marching in place keeping time? Yeah,
(13:48):
just you know, if you werein the band and you're just marking
time until you start to move forward. Come on, let's let's get to
moving forward. God is shepherd. He will lead us to green pastures and
steal waters. He'll prepare that tablein the presence of our enemies. Wait
(14:13):
on the Lord, be of goodcourage. He will strengthen your heart.
Wait pause for further instructors. Don'ttry to figure it out on your own.
Trust in the Lord with all yourheart, lean not to your own
understanding, and all your ways acknowledgehim. He will make your path straight.
So those against some of the attributesof God, yeah, sit down,
(14:35):
think about what you know about Godas he's revealed himself to you through
his word, and connect scriptures tothose attributes and began to pray over those
pros. Began to write down underneaththat teach heart that what you believe God
is calling you to do, thatpurpose you believe God has planted in you.
And then on those cons wipe outall those fears, all those concerns,
(14:58):
all those doubts, all those frustrations, and pray that God would block
those keep those from slowing down yourmomentum as you keep moving forward to fulfill
His call on your life. Sowhat's stopping you. I mean right now,
(15:22):
if you have time. Where's thepencil, where's the paper? Where's
the Bible? Why haven't you madethat teach art? God is calling?
How are you responding to his call? Because here's the bottom line. God
(15:43):
is in control and I'm not. What's stopping you. That's something you need
to have. You need to processand have a conversation with God. Number
(16:03):
one, confessing that you stopped ofyour own volition. He didn't tell you
to stop. Now there are timeswhen God will say that's enough, no
more of that for you. We'removing in another direction. Shift. But
when you know God has not toldyou to stop, You've stopped on your
(16:26):
own. You need to confess,Father, I've done things my own way.
I made a decision not in alignmentwith what I know about you.
Because here's a deal. Here's adeal. God has said, we are
His masterpiece created in Christ Jesus, unto good works which God has before or
(16:48):
dagned that we should walk in there. It was already in place before you
knew you. He knew your namebefore you knew your name. Already in
place. And it is God whoworks in us both to will and to
do of his good pleasure. Hegives us the desire, remember it was
already in place, and then hegives us the power to do that which
(17:11):
He has plied to in us.In us, each person uniquely equipped it
by God, equipped it equipped byGod to be all that He is calling
you to be. So I'm goingto ask it again, what is stopping
(17:34):
you from being all that God hascalled you to be, has called you
to do? So? Come on, girl, We know that a woman's
places in the will of God.God's will is already in place for you.
(18:00):

because guess what. We're all inthis thing together, and we are moving
in the direction God is calling usto follow. God says, this is
(19:10):
the way. Walk in it.You can't walk in a thing if you're
stopped. So let's keep moving.Let's keep pressing our way forgetting those things
that are behind. Come on,Paul, we press haven't yet taken hold
of it, but we're pressing ourway. So what's stopping you? Until
(19:41):
next time? The Lord bless youand keep you. Will actually all the
time, it is my prayer untilnext time for the podcast, But all
the time my prayers the Lord blessyou and keep you. The Lord make
