Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, coach is Shane. I appreciate hanging in there with
us tonight and and and and getting on here. Man,
I was anxious to hear about this. You guys get
seventy two points on the board. I didn't get the
exact totals, but I was told in the run report.
I got that Garrison had a career night. I heard
you got kids dunk in the basketball and two or

(00:21):
three more double figures. So just talk to me about
the offensive performance and the big night for the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, it was gosh. You know, I told the kids
after the game, I couldn't be prouder. You know, this
this Greek throughout the year, Uh, it's been tough. You know,
they've demonstrated, you know, relentless determination and resilience and and
you know a lot of a lot of young kids
these days, you know, when you know a lot of

(00:48):
kids may have faltered and giving up, these guys dug
in and uh they keep pushing forward. So you know,
I'm just super proud of them. As far as the game,
first quarters kind of back and forth, uh, you know,
kind of kind of just a good, good competitive basketball game.
But uh, second quarter, remarkable poise, and patients on our part,

(01:10):
and and you know that's something that that we've we've
been trying to grow, you know, we you know, we
tended with a few weeks ago. You may remember me
saying that we just haven't figured out how to win yet.
And they're they're really starting to buy in. And Joey
Francis had a phenomenal first half as you said, dunk
in the basketball and I think he had fifteen points

(01:32):
and and you know his elevation on that dunk, I
mean was just you could just there was this energy.
And then Colden Garrison, as you talked about, I think
he had thirteen in the first half, played really really well.
But we knew, uh going into half. You know my
Messi's to the kids at halftime was this westball team.
You know, they I believe Paint Valley had him down

(01:53):
something very similar. You know, it's forty two. Uh gosh,
what was a forty five to twenty five tonight and
a half. But you know, I told our kids, you
know that they're not going to back down. Hats off
to their coach and staff. They do an exceptional job,
and they made some adjustments and they mounted a really
strong comeback. Give them credit. I think they outscored us

(02:14):
in the second half forty to twenty seven. But despite
all that, like I said, just understanding and learning how
to win. For this young group of ours, you know,
they remain focused throughout the entire the second half, believe
in each other, and really spot to the end of it.
So I said, I just can't be proud of their
efforts tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You know, coach, when you're dealing with young players, it's
always been my experience as they get you know, ten games,
and then they get fifteen games, and they get twenty games.
A lot of times they get to that second year
of varsity basketball and coaching, we like to say the
game slows down a little bit. And I know, and
watching Garrison clear back on opening night when I called
your Chilicothee game, watching them against their size and athleticism,

(02:52):
you could just see you could see the ceiling, you know, right,
you could see the fundamentals, you could see some of
the skills set and you know, to watch him break
out tonight. I was just talking to coach Jude of
our CCA about how you know you're gonna look back
a year or two from now, and he's talking about
checking box and so forth. For a kid like Garrison,
you feel like this is the type of game where
you look back a year or two from now and

(03:13):
you're like, hey, I remember that west Fall game when
it all kind of came together and that was kind
of a breakout confidence thing for a kid. Is that
something that's kind of fair in terms of his growth?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Oh? Absolutely? And I want to make sure I say
this loud and clear because you know Colton Garrison. You
know last week I mistakenly referred to him as Christian
Garrison on our last conversation and I want to correct
that because you're right, I mean checking boxes that Colton
is an absolute beast force on the court. If I'm

(03:44):
being brutally honest. West Fall had zero answers for him tonight.
He finished with twenty eight and six. I believe, I
believe he's a young man that's incredibly underrated, and I
have no doubt that SBC teams will be very, very
promoter with him and years ahead. It was. It was

(04:05):
a breakout performance, as you said, and nothing short of
really honestly dominant, truly an outstanding display from him tonight.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Well, coach, he gets seventy two points on the board.
I assume it had to go far more than the
twenty eight. Who else played well for you tonight?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Uh, Joey Francis, as I said, you know, he got us,
really got us motor. And now he only ended with seventeen,
but two of those seventeen were two free throws when
Westfall had cut it, I believe, to five when Francis
went to the line, so you know, big big buckets
at the free throw line. And then Luke Preston and

(04:41):
we talk about him all the time, he's our glue.
He actually ended up with ten points and five boards
tonight and knocked down a few twos threes from outside.
And Gavin Harold freshman for us, who is really coming
into his own. He had nine points, three board, and
I believe he took three charges tonight, and he was

(05:04):
in the game a lot because Christian he'th foun himself
in foul trouble there in the first half. And then
Langton Metsicer only had four points tonight. But what I
want to focus on when talking about Langton is he
don't have one turnover tonight. And when you talk about
growth and maturation and progress, and we'll talk about, you know,

(05:27):
a young man that's had twenty turnovers in a game
earlier in the season, and this is his first, you know,
real year of varsity experience. So to watch him how
he's he's he started to study the game and watch
his film and he's very receptive when I talked to him.
For him to come out of this basketball game with
only one turnover is huge for us. And really the

(05:50):
only thing that I could say negative for us tonight
is we just got to clean up from the free
throw line. I think we were twelve of twenty three
from the line, and that'll get you burned on a
lot of nights.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Well, coach, you had the one regular season game left,
as we just heard from Coach Jude against our CCA.
I know they have an outstanding player in Bevin that
they're led by and then and then you'll you'll move
into the tournament. Uh So, kind of coming off a
win like this, give me a mindset going in the tournament.
You have an idea who you might play, yet have
you been able to look at the numbers?

Speaker 2 (06:20):
We looked at it a little bit. We're hoping tonight.
I think you know with this wind tonight that it
might get us. We've been hovering in that, you know,
at the at the bottom half of that where we're
going to have to play on the road, like an
eighteen sixteen game or something. So we I believe we
were setting in that seventeen slot, which puts us on
the road. We're really really hoping this win tonight might

(06:43):
might be able to get us up one more spots
that we can host. And and if I had to guess,
probably Federal.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Hockey, Well I'd be a great opportunity there to do
that at home. And well, I hope to get out
and see you this week. Best of luck as you
finished up, and then as we get in the next
Friday night, we'll break down some tournament. I actually look
forward to talking to you.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Okay, thank you guys, appreciate it.
