Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, Our first coach of the night is Southeastern
coach Brian Ally. Coach can you hear me?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hey, coach is Shane the congratulations on another win. And
as we talked last week, you know, you reach one
to what doesn't mean you stop. You continue to move
forward and try to get all kinds of momentum. But
gotta love the direction of your team. Take us suit
tonight's win a little bit from your perspective.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, tonight was our senior night to celebrate the five
seniors that we have on this team, Blane Williams, Joey Pifer,
Dylan Gallwan, Parker Bowery, and Carter Fisher. So we came
out pretty good. First quarter. We were fifteen to eleven.
(00:48):
Blaine had thirteen of our fifteen points in the first quarter,
so he had a really nice game tonight. It was
a back and forth game, was very physical. I think
we were up eight or six or something like that
at halftime, and they came back in the in the
(01:10):
second half. Was in the third quarter, I think it
took the lead at one time, and uh, we had
a really good fourth quarter and uh, this is where
this team has grown. Early in the year, we could
have possibly lost the Huntington game in this game from
not having composure. And uh, I think that's been a
big growth with this team so far.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
You know, coach, take me through that first half. I
was intrigued by what you're saying there. Obviously laying very
capable scoring the ball. A lot of times, he'll score,
get downhill, create shots for other people. Uh, was he
able to stay in some one on one opportunities paint
Valley staying home on some other guys. Take me through
some of the early scoring there, because man, that makes
you really dangerous when he starts scoring the basketball like that.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, it was a good thing. Uh, he was on
with Uh. You know, other than that, we weren't scoring
the all very well. You know, he just got open.
I mean some of the shots they had really good
defense on him, and you know, other shots he was
able to get some separation and uh, I don't think
(02:13):
he missed a shot pretty much in the first quarter.
So that that's how it started off.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Well, Coach, I had a chance see Payt Valley the
other night, and I believe free and Robertson on that
night ended up getting fifty himself. So to hold that
group to thirty nine the night. Gosh, you gotta be
thrilled to death.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Defensively, Oh, you know, we've been blessed. We've won six
games in a row, and a lot of us, you know,
due to our defense here lately. You know, we we
were able to free had two points at half and
Robinson had five that half, so they got a little
(02:53):
loose on us in the second half. But for the
most part, we try to keep him in check best
that you can. Because those two kids can score from anywhere.
You can't give them any breathing room, and you got
to keep them off the boards.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Coach, let's talk a little postseason here. I'm intrigued by
your team. I have been all year, and you know
I've talked about it. You know, you continue to progress
and you kind of check some boxes as you go. Now,
as you go into the postseason, you got to feel
good about how you're playing. I think a lot of
people would would label you as a dangerous opponent. Give
me a feel of the sense of confidence you feel
(03:31):
like the kids have going into the second season.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Well, you know, we just try to take it a
game at times. You know, tomorrow we have Eastern Pipe
coming in who's number one in our district. So it's
gonna be a good test for us. I think they
beat Sims Valley tonight, who was number three in our district,
by two points. So tomorrow will be a good gauge
(03:54):
of where we're at, and you know what we got
to do before we play our first tournament game. And
then on Tuesday we go to Racing Southern, who's I
think in the top three D seven. They've only lost
three games this year. As another nice test to get
us prepared for the tournament.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, that that certainly is, especially that type of bus
trip and kind of getting yourself battle tested some really,
really quality opponents there. Talk to me individually anyone we
left out tonight. You want to highlight some different kids
before you get you off here.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
You know, Laying end up with twenty one as the
first time this year that we've had any one score
above nineteen. Gates Chetle came out and had a really
nice second half. Of course, he had the daunting task
of guarding Brandon Roberson. He end up with eleven. You know,
Carter Fisher only ended up with four, but he had
the task of trying to guard Carson Free all night.
(04:53):
And did an exceptional job to keep him to twelve points,
so that took him away from some of the offensive ends.
But you know, we had one, two, three, four, six,
seven kids score. You know, that's pretty much how it's
been all year long. We've not really had just one.
We've pretty much spread it out. But yeah, defensively the physicality,
(05:17):
you know, we're getting so much better at that.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Well, coach, I have you make sure I'm right here.
Nine and five to end SBC play an outright third
place and then you pick up your fourteenth overall when
and you still have two there to play out? Is
that correct? Yeah? That's outstanding. Well, congratulations At this point
on regular season, sounds like you have two tournament type
(05:41):
of tests here on Saturday and Tuesday to get you prepared.
Look forward to hopefully getting a chance to talk to
you next Friday night, and we'll dive in more to
that tournament matchup. Sound good?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yes, I appreciate it, guys, Thank you, thank you,
