Provided those cookies that are right in front of you, ladies,
So when you're all done, you can like take cookies
with you, right, And you know, I'm pretty sure because
I'm a horse guy, I think the.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Horses would like the cookies too. Yeah, I might like
fortune cookies. Have you ever had your horsus fortune cookies?
Speaker 3 (00:40):

Speaker 2 (00:41):
No, they like them, so you used to try that sometimes.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
So joining us in the podcast parlor for this episode,
we have Brooklyn and Kaylee.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
And you're from the horse park, right yeah. And so Brooklyn,
I know you're you're a veteran. This is your second year.
Yeah second here you got to say, yes, it's radio.
They can't hear your head shake, all right, So second year,
and how how'd you do?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Pretty good?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So you won two banners. What were they for?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Pools and steaks?
Speaker 2 (01:17):
All right? So did you work hard for that?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
And what's your horse's name? Tell me about your horse.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
She's a quarter horse and she can be picky.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
She can be picky. Yeah, yeah, what color is? What
color is? She?
Speaker 4 (01:33):
She's brown?
Speaker 2 (01:34):
She's brown? Yeah. How can she be picky?
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Depends on her mood. Sometimes she can be really chargy.
Sometimes she can be calm. Sometimes she's just picky about
what the stall is.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
So so it depends on her mood.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Right, Yeah, So does she like Does she like.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
To get baths?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah? Kind of.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
She likes the attention right when you're brushing her and
stuff like that. Yeah, they like to be spoiled. Does
she like apples?
Speaker 4 (02:07):
She loves apples.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
About carrots?
Speaker 4 (02:10):
No, like carrots though, like carrots. She threw one on
the floor earlier.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
So I can't run the barn. That's what I heard.
You like the barn manager. You're not, okay, that's.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
What I I just kind of, Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
You've got well kind of you've got a quarter horse
as well.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yes, I'm how old?
Speaker 3 (02:47):
She's seven?
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Okay, it's a good age. How she do very well?
Speaker 7 (02:53):
This year? We actually want champions of champions and showmanship excellent.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Howbody banners? Do you have?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Seven?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Seven? That's more than two?
Speaker 6 (03:04):
Right, that's like five more than yeah, So are you
gonna have seven next year?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I don't know? And how many years have you been
showing out here at the All County.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Fair seven banners for seven years?
Speaker 1 (03:20):
There we go, yeah, well this is your second year, right,
and you got two banners.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
That must be how it goes.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
So if we can find somebody in the barn and
that has like ten years, they should have ten banners.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Yeah, I think that works. Yeah, all right, So Kaylee,
what's your what's your horse's name?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Rosie? Now? You just have one out here?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Just one? Do you only have one horse? Or do
you have other horses?
Speaker 4 (03:43):
I have one?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yeah? And how how long have you had her?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I've hired since she was three, so four years?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Okay? She's she stubborn, like.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
No, she loves everybody and everything.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Oh she's a horse, yes, and.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
She likes carrots and apples. Probably.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Well, you're gonna have to try the fortune cookies thing,
because really I was surprised.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
But my wife's like, because I don't like him, She's like, oh, well,
we'll take him back to the barn again, yes, versus like.
So I was like, okay, we take the paper thing out.
You take the paper thing out. But otherwise.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Copper likes apples and men. She just doesn't like the
actual thing. She likes the flavor.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Take her a cookie, you can take it.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Take her a Spencer's cookie. She might They're pretty sweet,
so they might like him since you also have so, Kaylie,
you are also have a chicken. Yes, And tonight's the
livestock sale for chickens and rabbits, So tell me about
how'd your chicken do?
Speaker 2 (04:52):
So?
Speaker 7 (04:52):
I do the pen of to market chickens, and we didn't.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Place in our division, but the judge really liked our birds, okay.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
And what kinds of chicken there are?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Cockrells so their males all right?
Speaker 1 (05:06):
So you know, I had Sophie Spencer in here earlier
and I asked her how many kinds of chickens there were, and.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
She told me there were like hundreds.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Because I told her I only knew about barbecue and crunchy.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Those are types of chickens, right, No, they're.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Not, That's what she told me. They weren't either. Yeah,
So so do you want to do you want more horses?
Do you want to get more horses?
Speaker 5 (05:33):
I mean, I really like my horse, but in the future, Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
You'd probably like to have four or five of them
at home. Yes, you know they like they like that friends.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Yeah, they definitely do have a bunch of friends at
the barn.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yep, yep, they liked their barn friends. So, so do
you get help from.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
The more experienced riders? Does that help? Did they? So?
Does Brooklyn come over and help you?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I help her?
Speaker 5 (06:05):
You help her what I can well and show much
you've been ranch because I'm more of a contest and
she's more of a slow person with the slow stuff.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Okay. So why don't they sell their horses.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
In the livestock sale because they're not meet.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Okay, because because I would probably buy one if you
put it.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
In the livestocks.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, but you wouldn't want to do that.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
You wouldn't let your horse go and then probably give
you like fifty sixty bucks.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
That's not enough of my horse, maybe fifty six hundred.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
So how about for for any for any young kids
that are out there listening, how much work is it
to keep a horse and to get a horse?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Ready for the fair.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
A lot kind of. It's like you have to if
it's your first year.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
You have to get amused to the area, and it's
hard for them to like get fascinated and stuff with
the new place out there end with all the new
horses and all the loudness around.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
It's pretty loud down there is.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
The other day it was like, yeah, I don't know
how they sleep.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
It's like the worst barns, like right next to the highway,
just like our camper.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yep. Yeah. So how many so either one of you
for this one.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
How much time do you spend a week, average week
with your horse?
Speaker 7 (07:47):
So I try to go to the barn every single day.
Horses are a lot of blood, sweat and tears, as
you've probably heard. I mean, like I said, I've shown
them for many years and it really doesn't get much easier.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
But in the end, all the hard work pays off.
So it's real.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yes, horses are your best.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Friends, right, Yes, no one can be them.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
So do you do their mains and everything?
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Yes, except for like other classes when you're not allowed to.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Have it a very fun classes. No, I have to
do like wrench.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Drama chip, So I don't get to blame and stuff
like she does, and I get so mad.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Do they have a favorite kind of hey, alfalfa? It's
pretty yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
It's it's it's like giving them candy. Yeah, so you
have an alfalfa mix that you like, like like with
Timothy or orchard or something or just alfalfa. Yes, so
you spoil your horses what you're saying?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Yeah, we keep their hay bags.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Failed the whole day during fair and today when I
was cleaning her stall, Kaylie brought in her hay bag
and put in the stall and she like bang me
to the ground with her butt to get to the
hay bag. It was hilarious. I was like, excuse me,
(09:14):
does does your horse have.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
A favorite style of egg?
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Or they don't like alf that's pretty health and grass? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (09:25):
Yeah, they get a little sad because they're not used
to being in a stall for nine days. Normally, like
five times out of those nine days they'd be in
a pastor eating grass, not just hay.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
That's right. So are you know I never thought about
that too, you just said it. But so do you
get are you able to take them out and like
put them in? Is there a place where they can run?
A little bit during the week or not.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
No, not the fair, but out of barn we do.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
No, but maybe like you can lead them to like grass.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
I've never thought about that, Like put them on a
lead rope and a halter and the into grass for
them to eat for a little bit, and then you
can bring them back to your stall.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
That's what you have to tell them not to poop, right.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
Yeah, or you got to clean it up, just like
a dog.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
That's right, you'd have to clean it up. That's right.
Well are you both coming back to the fair next year? Yes,
all right, Well thanks for coming in and talking to
us a little bit about horses. Are there more horse
shows for the rest of the fair.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
There's actually one right now, and then there's one tomorrow
and another one Saturday, so.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
People can still come out to the fair tonight, tomorrow
and Saturday and see some horses down.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah horse right, too bad? The pigs are gone, all right,
all right
Speaker 1 (10:40):
So Brooklyn Kayley, thanks for joining us in the in
the podcast partler, and we'll be back with another episode
of a c F four one one after this
