Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, and welcome back to another edition of ACF
(00:02):
four one one. It's the official podcast of the Allen
County Fair. I'm Rush Deck or your host, and Kennedy
is joining me here in the podcast parlor, the former
milking parlor here at the Dairy Barn at the Allen
County Fair. Kennedy, welcome, Thank you. So I understand that
you did a sewing project.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yes, I did two sewing projects.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
How old are you?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I'm eleven years old?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Really? And you like sewing? Yeah, So tell me about
your projects.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
So my first project with sun dresses and jumpers, and
I made a jumper for that and went to State Fair.
And then for my other one, I was called Designed
by Meat and I embellished a shirt, jacket and purse
and went to State Fair with that and went Outstanding
of the Day.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Wow. So you had two projects that went to the
State Fair. Yeah, and one got Outstanding of the Day,
which is that's the best you can do, right yep? Wow?
And you're eleven years old. Yes, that's gonna be hard
to beat, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
So how did you get interested in sewing?
Speaker 2 (01:07):
So my grandma sews and then she taught me how
to sew, and then when I started for age, I
wanted to do the sewing projects.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
So is this your first year at the fair? Probably not.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
No, I've been a member for three years and then
I was a clover bud for two years.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
So for folks that don't understand four age, I get this,
but other people don't tell us the difference.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
So a clover bud is second grade and younger, and
once you are in third grade and up, you'll do
you'll be an actual member and do real projects.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Right, So the clover buds is really kind of getting
you interested in four h and seeing you how it
all goes and stuff, right and yeah, and learn from
the older kids.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Uh huh a lot? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah? So how do you decide what your projects are
going to be?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
So I just looked through a list of all the
projects and I see what sounds interesting.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
And so and then how long does it take you?
For instance, you made a dress? Right?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
How long does that take to decide? I want to
make a dress? And then what's the dress going to
look like? And you got to pick out fabric and
all thisff? How long does that whole process take?
Speaker 2 (02:19):
It takes a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Wow, that's a lot of work.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
That's why for sewing project, do you got to make
sure that you start kind of right away after you
get the books so you can make sure you have
it done in time.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
And then you better hope you don't grow right, Yeah,
because if you made your dress and then you grew
two inches, then it wouldn't fit. Yeah right, I'm just
that's being funny. Yeah, okay, So so it takes you
a couple of months. The fair is going to end
here in a couple of weeks. Do you wait until
like spring to start looking at a project or will
you start thinking about it now? What do you think
(02:52):
you want to do next year?
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I'll probably start thinking about it now, like what I
might want to do next year, and then next year
I'll kind of when we start picking up projects out
choose my finals of what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
So do you think you'll do sewing again or will
you change and do something totally different?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I'll probably do sewing again.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Okay, could you do more than one? Could you do
sewing and something else if you want to?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Like this year, I also did Staying Healthy, which is
another project, and went to stay Fair with it.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So tell me about staying healthy.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
So basically, it's a book in a project that teaches
you how to stay healthy and keep your body in
mind healthy. And then I was also our gomer Go
Getters Club health officer, which means I do health reports
on staying healthy.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Okay, so gomre Go Getters. I hear them a lot
about that group. It's a pretty big group, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Do you know how many kids are in it?
Speaker 2 (03:47):
I don't know how many kids are in it, but
I'm pretty sure maybe one hundred.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
I know it's one of the bigger ones because I
hear about them all the time up in the special
projects and in the barns and everywhere.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
So, do you have a favorite four age friend?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Probably? I have a couple, but probably one of my
friends that does for age, Kenzie se Banella.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
What does she do?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
She sows and does chickens, sows.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
And does chickens.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
So wow, that's so she's pretty busy too.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, all right. What's your favorite part of the fair?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I don't know, I like everything about the fair.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Do you like the food?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
So I know the fair food is not necessarily the
most healthy food. Yeah, But what's your favorite.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Probably ice cream.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Ice cream, homemade ice cream down by the horses.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
That ice cream, the one that's up here. It's called
jan MS. Oh.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yes, that's very good, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Do you have a favorite flavor?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Probably mint chocolate chip.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I think you just sold some ice cream for J
and M. People will probably hear that and want to
go over there, So that's good. Kennedy, thanks so much
for stopping by and joining us today.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
All right, we'll be back with another episode of ACF
four one one and just a wet
