Tracy Lynn Curry, better known by his stage name The D.O.C., is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Dallas, Texas, on June 10, 1968, Curry began his musical career as a member of the Fila Fresh Crew, a hip hop trio that originated in Dallas. While in the group, Curry was known as Doc-T. He quickly gained recognition for his quick-witted lyrics and powerful delivery, and he was eventually discovered by Dr. Dre, who was then part of the hip hop group N.W.A.Curry joined N.W.A in 1987, and he made his recorded debut on their debut album, Straight Outta Compton (1988). He wrote or co-wrote several of the album's tracks, including "Gangsta Gangsta" and "The D.O.C.". His debut solo album, No One Can Do It Better, was released in 1989 and was produced by Dr. Dre.
